Most times when I ask for my food to be prepared "hot" and the restaurant makes a big deal about it, it barely tickles. Not this place. I got my craving for pain satisfied, twice! As a bonus, it tasted really good too.

After a long dayhike on the Sunshine Coast Trail we were pretty hungry so we decided to go to Iguanas. The business does not have a website menu but a pic of the menu can be viewed on FB. There are lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians. We ordered the Los Fantasticos as a starter and the Vegan Burritos - both were delicious and provided ALOT of food. We dined in and the restaurant was practicing pandemic protocols. Because of this, seating is very limited. We witnessed a strong takeout business though. The service was excellent and prices very reasonable. We spent $53 for starter, 2 entrees, 1 beer and tip. Check the operating hours before you go as they close between the lunch and dinner service.

Always great food and super friendly. We go as a family and always enjoy the food. The adults have our favorites and the kids have enough selection on the kids menu to keep them happy. Great specials and the Blackberry margaritas are amazing, as is there in house made ice tea. Certainly worth a try if you are visiting from out of town.

One of the best Mexican restaurants around. I was very impressed by the quality of food and the kindness of the staff. Best authentic and flavourful food in Powell River. My wife and I tried the burritos and it was delicious. The restaurant is wonderfully decorated in many colours and works of art making for a fun but comfortable experience.

Decided on take out. Called our order in and after we came home found out we were missing a meal. There response was sorry but we are all out of food. They will call our friends who we stayed with in Powell River to get a meal to them. I paid for the whole meal. No refund. No sorry. Amazing they had nothing else to offer. Not impressed at all to be honest.

The Unconventional Route

Have been to Iguanas on various occasions for dinner. Nice casual, friendly atmosphere. It's great to be able to choose a spice level from mild to extra hot. Tonight I had the burrito el jefe hot - delicious! The service was great and I've already made up my mind for next time to go for extra hot!

The 5 layer dip was nice but the two others dishes, Quesadillas and Fish tacos, we're not as good as other Mexican restaurants I've been to. The fish batter was a bit burnt and the quesadillas with chorizo sausages were too oily. Otherwise a good place considering that this place is in a small town.

They have a good variety of dishes ,the food is good ,but I find the portions are small . Also the service was good and the food came in a timely fashion???? But ,if you plan on paying with debit it must have tap or you have to pay cash which I didn't find out until I went to pay so it was a little awkward ,and I had to go get money to pay.

After living in Arizona for four years with regular trips to Mexico, I was sorely disappointed when I moved back to the greater Vancouver area and discovered the almost total absence of any authentic, family run Mexican restaurants. Two years later I moved to Powell River, where my Brother in law quickly introduced me to Iguanas, a local Mexican restaurant with real Mexican food.. Fresh home made Pico de gayo, carne asada, carne pollo, even good margaritas. I've had a variety of dishes, always good always fresh.. If you're in town and craving Bueno Mexicano, there really is no choice, try Iguanas,. You won't be disappointed.

Loved the food here! Best Mexican food in town and very filling. Would recommend the taco share plates and the horchata. Chill family vibe too. You can get Mexican groceries here too which is awesome to know you can find dried chilies, and other key ingredients for Mexican cooking.

This has got to be the most authentic Mexican cuisine I’ve experienced on the entire sunshine coast. The flavours were absolutely amazing. I recommend the tostadas! They blew my mind ???? The food was cooked to perfection. We had zero complaints. They had tons of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Their menu was large, but not so much that you get overwhelmed. A wonderful variation of options and flavors. The drinks are also extremely delicious here! The service is impeccable. The woman who owns this place has the biggest smile when she serves the tables and she always knows when you need something. I’ve never had such attentive service! The prices were beyond fair, and there was really nice patio seating. This has honestly been one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. If you’re in Powell River, you need to check this place out ????

Best Mexican cuisine in Powell River. Also great: drink selection, atmosphere. The kitchen staff and servers know the menu well are friendly, I felt at home but better. One thing I didn't like is that debit is not accepted. Cash and credit only and I didn't find out til I went to pay and had to borrow money from one of my friends to pay (embarrassing) so now I know and you do too. Cash or credit, no debit ????????????

I wish we had "not-chose" the nachos. For the price (plus $1 for sauce we weren't told costed extra) the plate we got was extremely disappointing. Barely any cheese; tiny; even the supposedly homemade chips were no different from store bought ones. Wouldn't go back.
