This place was truly a disappointment and should be avoided if you are seeking a pleasant dining experience. I could write a lengthy post, but I'll keep it brief. The service took some time and the food was mediocre (especially the blueberry grunt - absolutely tasteless and not a grunt but a doughy microwaved ball). The restaurant is clearly having some management issues, made obvious by the apologies made by the waitresses at the surrounding tables. What took the cake was the owner's unprofessional behaviour when he came to "apologize" for having missed our reservation. Do yourself a favour and dine somewhere else

I have a suggestion. Write down all the beers on tap, and all the canned drinks in the fridge that are for sale, make a menu. This would help the staff out, because it's even harder now that they have to wear face masks all the time. I would be very impressed if this restaurant did this. The wings were great. I got naked with sauce. It would have been even better if they had put the sauce on the wings for me instead of serving the sauce on the side. Wednesday is wing night! Beautiful spot on the water!

Wed. July 7, 2021...we totally enjoyed our meal of bruchetta, mussels and grilled hamburger platter with 2 cold beers. Very nice server, efficient and a view of 3 sailing Boats! ...Kudos, Tony. Congratulations. Good food, service and an appealing NS view.

Building and food is presented beautifully but food quality and service leaves something to be desired. Staff don’t seem to want to be there (loudly complaining/swearing about personal problems) and we experienced a lack of basic service (being flat out ignored by the staff when they seemed extremely over staffed.) Food seemed over prepared/reheated. I would always give a place a try once! The scenery is nice and circumstances change.

Went for lunch today, and the service was very slow. The restaurant had maybe 4 tables of people, out server was not professional she was saying sh#t when she was dropping beer all over the place. We ordered pop as we don't drink and drive. And she didn't tell us the the pop was not free refills, so we paid 20 plus for pop. We also ordered appetizers and we had to ask if we were getting them. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Went there Saturday with friends and we won't be back. Service was really slow, waited a long time just for drinks and even longer for the food. You could see other peoples frustration starting to show too. I only had an ice tea as a drink and when I asked for a refill, they were out. Ordered a Chicken Quesadilla and it was loaded with massive pieces of peppers as a filler and just a few little hunks of chicken. One piece had no chicken at all. Splurged and asked for the cheesecake they advertised for dessert and was told they are out. She came back after my friend ordered his desert and said they had some but from a different supplier so I said sure! I'll have a piece. I suggest you go back to whoever you went to before and I hope it doesn't taste like plastic, because what I had a few bites of is not what cheesecake should taste like. Also, I don't know if she was the supervisor, but the way she was talking to staff very loudly was a big turn off. It was regarding tables that needed servicing but it should have been done privately and not yelled out for the entire place to hear. Definitely not worth the $30+ this meal cost me.

We loved the waterfront table. However the service; service? I am not certain we had service. Someone brought drinks after 20 minutes and someone brought our meals after another 20 minutes. We observed the owner and wait staff wander in circles one task at a time. Had to go to the bar to pay our bill. Guess what another 20 minutes. One waitress tried to find our bill but could not find it. We waited for our waitress to come into view, and we were on our way in no time ( said no one ever ). If you looking for service you wont find it here.

We stopped in here for dinner on the waterfront. The covered porch setting was perfect for fresh seafood. We had the seafood chowder which was alright, the pan fried scallops which were wonderful and the blueberry grunt which was tasty but larger than expected. The downside is the service was slow. We arrived before the rush but then the servers became overwhelmed. If you just want to relax and enjoy, it is a great place to go.

Every single table in the place was dirty, stacked with dirty dishes from other customers and there were very little customers. Maybe they need a bus person. The waitress was nice, but we were informed the kitchen was backed up as soon as we walked in. Were they trying to get us to leave so they could clean the tables. Two couples that came and sat down at a dirty table, got up and left. The food was mediocre.

The Marina Bar and Grill has a wonderful waterfront adjacent location in scenic Pictou, only 15 minutes from the New Glasgow hub. We stopped in for a meal and decided to eat in "the boathouse" section of the restaurant, a screened in section, water facing. Our waitress was very friendly, and even though a drink I had requested was not on the menu, she was able to put it together for me, which was appreciated. I had the hot turkey sandwich and fries which was delicious and piping hot, fries were crispy coated and tasty, and my husband got the clubhouse which looked amazing. He said that it tasted even better (and he also loved the fries)! We treated ourselves to desert, he had the famous Blueberry Grunt and I had the strawberry shortcake, two Nova Scotia favorites that will never steer you wrong. We enjoy our visits to the Marina, especially on a hot day with a cold beer, and we look forward to the summer and the patio!

The food was very enjoyable, but our server was very friendly and helpful. The few locals we chatted with added to our enjoyment. We'll definitely return. Eating outside on the deck on a sunny afternoon was a good choice. Take a short stroll around the working waterfront after your meal.

My family and I were recently in Pictou during the lobster Carnival. The events that they were fantastic most of the people that we mat we're great then it all went downhill when we went to the marina Bar and Grill. We waited forever for our drinks which included just a couple glasses of soda and a beer. We ordered our food and waited for 42 minutes. The waitress finally came around and asked if we would like another drink when we asked about her food she said the kitchen closed 10 minutes ago very very unprofessional. One and only time that we were ever be there.

We decided to have a meal in Pictou while out touring around.....we decided to try the Marina Bar and Grill. All I can say it that the seafood chowder was amazing, it was great but would have been that much more if the biscuit which we had wasn't stale/dry. I tried to dip in the chowder to see if would help but it didn't but the chowder alone was great. The mains were ok.....the lobster sandwich we were surprised came with potato salad and not fries even though we were asked on what we wanted for a side and for the price, you would definitely not have though you would only get potato salad and the sandwich......the scallops were ok but once again the price for the amount of scallops which you got didn't quite add up. Overall opinion was chowder was awesome, the mains were average, the price was high for the mains being "specials" - I would not want to see what the regular price would be. Service was good, no issues there, would I go back.......it would be a 50/50 decision.

I ordered the fish cakes and my mom the fish chowder. The fish cakes were mostly potatoes with a small amount of fish that tasted old. The fish chowder was a grey colour and everything was bits and pieces and had a chemical after taste. Very disappointed, I have eaten at this restaurant many times over the years and have never experienced food this bad. The service was very good.

I can’t even believe that this place is still open. I used to come here all the time from Ontario when it was the salt water caffee. When I called to make a reservation for 10 people, the man just said yes and hung up. I later realized that it was sold Tony Dollan. I went in to be seated and the waitress said they don’t take reservations anymore. .. #1 red flag. I took my family here and kept Raving how good it used to be. It was an absolute total embarrassment.. it took 1 hour for them to even take our order. 1 hour to serve us. It was terrible .. we proceeded to order desert, strawberry shortcake., they didn’t even have any… extremely upsetting. And I’m disgusted.

We had less than a desirable experience this time and I was embarrassed for my guests after bragging it up. We go here several times a year and every year bring a larger group of family and friends from away. Hopefully, when the problems associated with supply, planning and staffing during an ever changing set of rules during a pandemic subside, this once great place will be at the top again. Concentrate on getting back to the original recipes and ingredients, maybe an additional cook to speed up the kitchen, and the great wait staff will see to the rest. I wish this place success in the future.

And 45 minutes after I ordered was told they are out of shrimp too. Avoid tgis place and go to harbour house.

WORST GRAVY EVER.... DON'T ORDER IT. I give this place a 1 star because 0 stars are not an option. We had six people at our table and not one of our meals was hot. Three of us ordered veggies with our meals and none of us got veggies. When we asked the server why we didn't get them or why one of us received fries instead of veggies, we were told the kitchen ran out. That would have been nice to know when they served the meal not wait until the customer asks. The worst part is, instead of veggies they gave our friend fries, they didn't come ask if she would prefer mashed potatoes, just gave her whatever they wanted. So after we said something about the veggies she offered to comp the veggies. So they removed 1.50 from each of our bills. We are visiting from Ontario and wanted fresh fish on the water... we ate on the water but nothing was fresh or good. Opps sorry the fries were good but I can buy them in the grocery store and make them myself. I would avoid this place nothing about it is good, I understand covid makes things difficult but there is no excuse for this. Bad food, bad service.

The Restaurant is appealing and at a great location, waterfront. However, the Service was not welcoming. We ordered the sampler platter, on the Menu it was with calamaries, mozza sticks, chicken etc. However there have been no calamaries or mozza sticks, we ordered this dish because it said there are calamaries and mozza sticks on it. When we told the Service there are onion rings instead of calamaries and no mozza sticks, she said they change it on the platter all the time.... that's it and walked away. My husband ordered the mussels, they were not fresh, they were frozen. Fazit: Location very good, Service unfriendly and kitchen not good at all.

Called in an order for takeout and was 10 mins late grabbing it because we got stuck in the snow, my girlfriend and I were basically called lazy by the gentleman out front . When we gave the explanation his reply was “yeah? How about try getting out of bed before noon.” On top of this a open faced hot hamburger sandwich was ordered which was drowned in tasteless gravy and hamburger which I believe had a hair . Our dog wouldn’t even eat it .
