The restaurant was very hot and uncomfortable. We mention this to the serve several times. We finally after sitting there sweating for 30+ minutes opene the windows behind us to let some air in. Only to have the owner go outside, left the screens and slam the windows shut. Not one word to us until my husband confronted her about slamming the windows shut. Then she said she would move us, that could been offered 30 minutes before, we had just started eating. Not a very good experience at all.

Fantastic experience here. Had the lobster dinner, raw oysters, and Oysters Rockefeller. Prices were good, service was great. Beer selection was good, with 4 craft beers available as well as the typical list of domestic and imports. Also enjoyed the house Moscato and a tiramisu. Oysters could had been opened with more care, there was more shell/debris in the oyster than we are accustomed to.

Ate there this evening. Recently renovated with a quaint decor. Clean! Chairs and tables comfortable and solid. Staff... friendly, knowledgeable and went out of their way to help with the menu and choices etc. Food... I had 'Roxanne's Seafood Chowder' small bowl... thick, delicious body with no shortage of haddock, scallops and lobster. Served with a lightly toasted roll and butter. Ask for a twist of lemon to enhance the fish flavor. Main meal... Quesada with a spinach side salad. Quesada shell was toasted to perfection on the grill and served with salsa and sour creme. Side salad was generous and served with a couple of choices of dressing. Impressions: Pictou has a new food hangout. Really good food, reasonably priced. We'll be back again to try some of the other offerings on the menu. R.A.N.

I had the Greek chicken with penne pasta. They should have called it soup...the tomatoes and onions were literally FLOATING in their "Greek sauce" (which is just Greek salad vinaigrette). Also, for having ales and spirits in their name, they have a poor selection.

It is a prime location by waterfront in Pictou. Their ventilation system needs to be repaired asap as inside is smoky and greasy. Good service. Food offers minimal servings though.

The tomato red pepper soup with feta was excellent! Served hot . Chicken brie roll and husband had the seafood casserole. Both delicious! Our waitress had only been there for two weeks but she was wonderful. Would recommend this place.

We walked in around 7:30 pm the waitress said they were full looking like about 45 min wait can we text u when a table opens I said sure. 50 mins gone by not text. Went back around an hour later. My friend walked in person behind bar heard door shut but didn’t turn around. Another waitress came up to her asked if she could help my friend told her we were in earlier they took our name number about an hour ago haven’t heard anything back just wondering how much longer. The person behind counter turned around and said we stopped taking anyone a half hour ago Not taking anyone else in. It was 8:30 pm by that time I was not impressed with the service. She didn’t even apologize for any inconvenience Just sent her away. The problem with that is we were there over an hour ago and were told they would have a table later for us. We didn’t just show up at 8:30 expecting a table. We went to the marina bar and grill who were very friendly and the food was great and served food till 10 pm ended the night on a good note I work for tourism and won’t be sending any travellers to their establishment. This is terrible customer service

We met chef on the way in, he started our night there (told the waitress he'd dragged us in off the street) I had seafood casserole, delicious and my wife had the shepherd's pie best she ever had. Waitress was friendly and entertaining looked after us well.

My wife and I had lunch here and it was delicious! We were greeted and served by a very friendly woman and the restaurant was very comfortable. I had the chicken/brie/pear sandwich with side of chowder and all was very tasty! My wife had the chicken club with fries and thought it tasted great too. Our only slight issue was that she is lactose intolerant and most everything seemed to have cream or cheese (luckily sandwiches can be made without cheese so that's a good workaround). We even had dessert and the brownie and toffee pudding were both on point - absolutely delicious. This place has good parking out back and is near to the water - it was quiet on a Sunday afternoon when we went but I get the feeling this restaurant is well-attended - and it totally deserves to be! Excellent meal and service and highly recommended if you are in Pictou

This restaurant was about the best place to eat with its Fish Chowder apart from that we would never go back to this small town, it was late in the year October, but to town itself was all closed down and a boring place we thought to visit. Not one to suggest for the distance you have to drive to get to a worn out venue is how we saw it.

Today I went for lunch at the Harbour house ales and spirits. I ate inside the restaurant the tomato soup was enjoyable, the fish tacos were fine then I ordered the seafood pasta to go. It was very disappointing, when I returned home all it was was sauce no pasta and a minimal amount of seafood. Exception being haddock. So disappointing when I was looking forward to enjoying my pasta.

It was a birthday celebration and the staff accommodated our needs by making one of their desserts into a cake..candles and all! Excellent experience on Pictou's beautiful waterfront.

The staff members were wonderful. We were seated on the patio (which is beautiful) and one woman came around with blankets and mosquito repellent as the sun went down, so thoughtful! There were no interesting gluten free options so I settled for a salad, but my husband said that his shepherd's pie was the best he's ever had! They offer flights of local beers, and have a selection of ciders as well.

Dropped by today for Lunch The Servers we’re very nice although not very well trained Had to keep asking for things I E condiments etc. Lobster Burger was sparce the Blue Burger was to overpowering with Cheese. Bathrooms were very unkept. The Place felt like it was the last order of the Season and they were getting ready to close. Thanks

Service was extremely slow, 45 min for a pizza and pork sliders that weren't hot when they came out. The place had about 30 people inside and a few outside as it was raining. Even water we asked for took over 5 min to arrive. Waitress was pleasant and curious, food was nothing special. Won't be coming back.

We have never been here before, but will be back. The food was great, service was 5 star and atmosphere was welcoming. Our server, Savannah, was an absolute sweetheart. Prices are very reasonable. 2 people had a delicious lunch for less than $50 including tip! Loved it!

We made a reservation on Sept.5, 2019 for 8 people at 5:30. All of our meals were ordered at 5:55 and we did not receive them until 6:55 with one of the orders forgotten, but delivered after the server was reminded of the error. Although the food was acceptable, other than the burn french frys, it gave us very limited time to finish our meal and attend a concert which started at 7:30. Excuses were made but not acceptable ones! We will not be returning to this restaurant!
