Love the home cooked meals. The waitress are fun to be with. Good price for the size you get. Came from Brockville to have a good meal.
Service wasn't the best, could have used a couple of top ups on my coffee. Very basic greasy spoon restaurant. Greasy eggs and home fries. Would try alternatives in the area instead.
Best breakfast around. Staff are fantastic and friendly.
Solid breakfast diner. Super cozy, fast service!
Not the warmest or most welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was alright. Bland pancakes, obviously pre-cooked and dry bacon, overdone sausage, soft hash browns with a hint of crisp, excellent eggs and toast. Far from the worst but certainly not the best.
Dinner
I recently visited this establishment and will never go back again. This used to be a staple for my family and I. I went with my mother and sister. All we ordered was eggs, toast, and home fries, pretty simple you'd think. We asked for our eggs over easy and they were over hard, our incredibly rude server actually made my mother and I trade food rather than take it back and just make it how we had asked. When I asked for my home fries to be cooked longer for a second time our server refused saying that they couldn't, and actually had the audacity to speak badly of us as we were leaving. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I'm pretty disgusted that we were actually charges thirty dollars for such garbage!
We both ordered the Clubhouse triple Decker and it was REAL turkey, very unusual these days. Waitress was friendly and pleasant, considering we are from the U.S. this also a rarity in this area. We will have to stop next time we're in the area.
Gus' first of all is not a café, for an excellent coffee we'd suggest Miss Lily's Café in Books and Company. In our experience Gus' is the best place to go in PEC. It's not fancy but if you are looking for a good meal, generous serving, at a reasonable price, it is the place to go. Our favourite is the club house with real turkey. The service is always pleasant.
Had lunch with my wife and, the oortions were quite large. I had the club sandwich, she had the rubben and they were excellent.
Great family restaurant ! They always make you feel welcome and have great service ! The food is amazing and great portins !
Great diner, huge portions at a low price. Very impressed with this place! Will be back.
Amazing fast american breakfasts
Gus gets a high rating for breakfast and a more ordinary one for lunch. Haven't eaten dinner there.
Great meal fast service we had chicken parmigiana very good. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a fab meal
Everyone here is very helpful and know what they are talking about. I sent for an ear phone connector Doggle for a Samsung Galaxy 20 and they had it I was impressed.
Great staff, great food, great service!
Very good service, food was tasty and served quick and hot and it was a good atmosphere. Also, the amount of food you get with the price of your dish increases the value of the meal and it’s a hearty sized dish, so it’s quite filling. Very pleased with this restaurant.
Great little small-town diner with that old-fashioned feel - delicious souvlaki (both pork and chicken) with enough for two! The Rueben was also fantastic (ask for it grilled!), and the Greek salad was big enough for a meal. Attentive, friendly service, accommodating in these times of the pandemic. As they say "You won't leave here hungry". Don't forget to ask to rub the Buddha's belly, for good luck!
Staff friendly, food was good. Fun atmosphere. Was brought here by local area resident who love the place and are regulars.
Friendly,Good food ,Good service
Great breakfast in a nice old-style diner.
Best egg, bacon, cheese on a bagel breakfast sandwich with coffe for $8. Yummy home fries. Great service.
Great place, great food and good prices. Fast, friendly service.
Decor needs an update and the food is over priced. The waitress seems nice. Since I dont live in that town I'm not sure if there are alternatives.
Typical small town diner. Good food, reasonable prices. Little noisy if seated by kitchen serving area.
We were two families camping near by and did a Google search for a family restaurant for breakfast...we found this place and were very disappointed. We walked out of there almost laughing it was so bad. The service was brutal. Our waitress was miserable and messed our orders up pretty good which is hard to do since it's just breakfast. The two egg breakfast was $8 which is way overpriced given the fact that....it's just breakfast! My son ordered a pancake and they charged us $6 for one crappy pancake! I would have been okay with this price but felt ripped off when I had to pay over $45 for my family to eat breakfast and we had to ask for a refill on the coffee. When we did ask for coffee, or anything else, it seemed as though we were really inconveniencing the waitress which is bizarre. The food was blah, the potatoes were either overcooked or hardly cooked at all depending on which plate you got and the toast was SOAKED in butter. A restaurant in a touristy town like Picton could make a killing from families like ours dropping in for a meal and should bend over backwards to bring in the summer business. These guys didn't seem to catch that. I would have said something but there was a big sign near the cash register saying "no whining" but believe me, there was a lot to whine about.
Friendly local diner in Picton. A bit of everything on the menu: breakfast, burgers, Greek AND pizza. Uploading the menu because it doesn't seem to be online anywhere!
Good food and well priced. If you like diners, would recommend.
OUTSTANDING!!! Comfort food galore! This is classic diner fare and very well cooked and presented - given what it is - honest to goodness diner food. So if you like grilled cheese, hamburgers, BLT and fries - you are in luck!!!
Went for breakfast with the family. I had the french toast and it was absolutely delicious! Everything was good, even the kiddos ate well.
Best family run restaurant been to in a long time. Everytime I'm in town I'll always have breakfast there
Great food. Did not get a good welcome but the food made up for it. To be fair, they were busy and short staffed which seems to be the case all over Ontario at the moment.
Great food, good prices. Very good covid 19 practices.
I go back to this place every time I am in Picton. just great. Food is amazing and service it's outstanding. On my pictures: greek salad, poutine, double burger and soup of the day (chicken and rice, grandma style !)
Best bacon cheese burger in the county
Good home style comfort food at a decent price.
Great food, great portions, and great service. It was especially busy today, but our server always made sure to check by our table and make sure everything was going smoothly. Classic small-town diner feel.
Nuts & Bolts type place...Nothing fancy, but decent food...
It's a family diner, clean and tidy, delicious food and plenty of it and not expensive. The waitress was busy but friendly and gave good advice on what to eat.
We ordered the following; Kids hot dog & fry-my daughter loved it. 2 skewers on the souvlaki plate-the meat was good, there was way too much olive oil all over the bottom. The rice was barely warm. 3 spaghetti with meat balls-the noodles were very very over cooked and my wife thought the sauce was bland. She ordered garlic bread with cheese which was a hot dog bun and burnt on the outside. We were sent to the very back of the restaurant into a seperate room. I would assume it was because I am medically exemp from wearing a mask and when i told the waitress that after she asked me to wear one. She shook her head as if she didn't believe me. If she is going to try and enforce the mask regulations she should be awaee of the laws.
Excellent food and service. Best restaurant in Picton!
Understaffed or racist? We went there for lunch after our 2 hour drive from toronto. Waitress were staring at us since the beginning, the first waitress(A) told us to go to the back, the waitress(B) in the back then said to me: did you not see a bigger table in the front? So I replied: the other waittress told us to... B managed to cut me off saying: okay okay( with an eyeroll). Me and my friends( canadian citizens but ethnically asians) were standing in the back side waiting for a clean table where none of the waitresses came to offer help or did anything. The tables were still dirty and messy. Conclusion: experience was terrible. Customer service was non-existance. If they are understaffed, I would blame their supervisor. But if not, I highly doubt their training or ability in the industry. We are polite and respectful people, expecting the same from prince edward county as a tourist friendly place.
Good affordable diner food with Greek and Italian options; generous portions.
Great little dinner with wonderfull food. There is plenty of seating in front and back with access to washrooms. They will also make pizza for sit in or take out orders. Staff are friendly. This is a local hot spot with residents of the County.
Great little family restaurant. Good food a reasonable prices. Friendly service.
Meal type
A diner to must visit while in Picton. Good pricing, good portions and good tasting. No gourmet foods ,but definitely good feel menu.
I love diners. Simple breakfast diners especially. This is a bad breakfast diner and here is why: 1 -The service was curt and rushed 2- Bacon is readycrisp precooked 3- They charge an extra .95 for onions in the homefries 4- They charge an extra .30 for rye bread 5- Pancakes are from a mix 6- They use Aunt Jemima syrup, in eastern Ontario this is especially inexcusable There is the bare minimum of effort being put in here and it shows. Wouldn’t go back, wouldn’t recommend, and wouldn’t be surprised if it shutters soon with new places to eat opening in town lately.
Great delicious food, good quantity friendly fast dervice and affordable!
Had the liver and onions. It was excellent and cooked just right. A good amount of mash potatoes / gravy. Nice atmosphere where there are a lot of regulars. Hope to be one someday.
Good food. Great service. Need just a Little more punch in the plate.
Love the turkey sandwich!
Food is always decent here. You get no fuss meals. I usually have breakfast here when I am in picton. It's not fancy food but is quality and the quantity is good.
Always amazing, needed some comfort food. Was always my dad's (Paul) goto place. Hot turkey sandwich, white meat, and a shake to go.
Old fashioned greasy spoon feel, great staff, great food and decent prices
Friendly staff and good food!
Absolutely love it at Gus's. Great dinner and even better breakfasts.
Not visit-related. But I’m sorry to say that Gus’s restaurant has unfortunately lost my business for good. A few days ago a man wearing the restaurants work shirt came into my apartment, assaulted my friend and made false allegations against him. So again my deepest regrets that I will never be coming back to that environment if I cannot even feel safe in my own apartment thinking he will come back for me.
Worst restaurant experience ever, and I travel quite a bit. Waitress was really rude, not looking at you at all, not saying hi or smiling. She threw the check on our table after 20 min and then removed our plates that we were still eating. So much that we were not sure if she was on drugs or not. Breakfast was bland, no seasoning whatsoever. Have a good meal, somewhere else. ..
Top notch service and delicious food! Can't wait to go back.
If you're looking for an old fashioned ma and pa type restaurant, then this is the perfect place! The food is delicious and reasonably priced...a good bang for your buck. …
Had a club sandwich and took off the top and found a rotten tomato, cook said they didn't see it when slicing it. Hard to believe, no love for food there!
Dine in
You get your moneys worth.
Super busy. As a result. Service was slow.
Great old style family restaurant. Very good food and staff. Dated decore but comfortable. Big servings good value.
Great breakfast and staff most helpful
They have a huge menue, but not for someone who's vegetarian or eats only fish or only halal. We went there for dinner and I ordered the fish platter. It was big but the fish was not marinated at all, not even salt. The overall experience was okay nothing major to woow me or to disappoint me.
If I could give this 3.5 stars I would. We were told this place was "meh" and it was only the locals that liked it. We went here after trying to get into the lighthouse. It's nothing fancy, I had sausage and eggs and my parents had peameal and eggs, and they were great. Very tasty. Eggs were done a perfect over easy. Good value for money.
Always amazing food and friendly service
Great service and reasonable prices. The food wasn't too bad but real instead of processed cheese in my omelette would have made another star. The staff worked hard to make the kids happy as well and that's not too common any more.
Very family friendly, homely and the place i feel most comfortable bringing my kids!
Hit and miss. Enjoyed their pizza, Greek chicken, children's fish and chips, but the baked lasagna was disgusting with no flavor (needs some serious love and should be sold as is).
Gus's offers home cooked food and a cozy place to eat in a family friendly environment. Our server, Jen, was very friendly and still gave great service even on a very busy rainy day.
Good food and service but a little pricey for a family resteraunt breakfast
I have had the pleasure of dining at Gus's many times whilst visiting Picton for Airsoft Games @PRZ Paintball. The Food, Staff and whole experience has and is always amazing . Thanks "Turkish"
Great family owned and operated little spot in the heart of Picton. Loved their clubhouse sandwich and they make a great breakfast too.
My husband and I went here for breakfast the day after our wedding and it was amazing. Exactly what we were looking for!
had the Gus' Club, was delicious, fries were perfectly cooked, and was all around a good experience. The service was fast and friendly, even though there was only one server on. Would go there again and again
Had the worst service I’ve ever experienced, watched as our server took orders and brought breakfast to tables seated after us before we even had our orders taken. Server was not friendly, and practically threw our plates to us. The food was better than the service but still not good, couldn’t even do eggs right. Disappointing, will not be going back or recommending.
Best family diner. Homemade diner food that will leave you wanting more. Huge portions great tasting and very reasonable prices. **best souvlaki pitas ever**
After noticing multiple flies in my fries, I mentioned it to our server who proceeded to giggle and say, “oh nice” with no apology to follow. Was also not offered a discount or refund of my meal. The reasoning for not receiving a discount on my meal was that “it’s summer and there are flies everywhere, it’s bound to happen and there’s nothing we can do” safe to say I would not ever recommend this place to anyone.
Went for dinner with my family, I had spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread, the sauce was runny and flavorless and the garlic bread was burnt:( my daughter had a got dog and fries she enjoyed it. Decor is out dated. Waitress did not seem impressed tight from the start as my husband has breathing issues and was not wearing a mask.
Looks like an old small-town diner that could use a remodel, but the staff are great and the food even better. Good selection, plates are full, and prices are reasonable.
Gus has the best breakfast in the universe. Even thiugh I'm from toronto, my favourite waitress remembers my order every time I'm in town. Lovely. Best.
AMAZING!!! Great little spot for a family dinner. All items on the menu were excellent and the prices more than reasonable and very large portions. One of the best pizzas I've had, I highly recommend it. If you're in the Picton area, a must stop!
Great food service was great .staff was friendly and the food was served fast we will be back again
Service
My friend and I had breakfast there it was terrible... the coffee was weak and tasteless the home fries and eggs were saturated in grease the only thing edible was the toast...if I could give it no stars I would
