Wow, talk about fresh!! Schnitzel was made fresh after we ordered. Delicious, crispy, moist, good amount. Had 2 sandwiches- one with mushroom sauce. Both were amazing. Staff were helpful and super friendly. Would go again. Want to try the donair and falafel the next time.

I don’t understand the few people complaining about the food, the foods greasy but a good greasy. Like moist, the guy cooks for the meat for 8 days so stop complaining it’s perfect. My problem is that they don’t stick to the hours. I went there on a Tuesday at 5pm and they were closed to explanation or anything. This is the second time I’ve wasted gas going down there. I hope it changes

Wow, totally impressed. The turkish pizza was amazing. My son ate the Schnitzel. Huge portions and very reasonable. Service was great. We finished the meal with Baklava, also delicious. A lot of food and we paid $22 in total. Will definately be back to try some other dishes. This place is delicious. We had the mixed bowl, kind of like a poutine but with both chicken and beef. Its so good and inexsapensive

Sadly, I was not impressed. I say "sadly," because I was excited to see this new restaurant when driving along Lansdowne, and had looked forward to trying it for a couple of weeks. I might return to try some other menu items ... possibly ... but I was not impressed by the doner or the fries. There was no beef doner left at 5:30 p.m. and the chicken, which I opted for instead, was VERY dry. Sauces were added without asking me if I wanted them (I was standing at the counter while it was being made) and somehow even WITH the sauces the entire thing was rather bland and unappealing, right down to the pita which I think was the wrong type of pita for a doner (it was dry, very chewy, heavy/thick). Who knows, maybe that's all the "traditional way," but I wouldn't have it again. The fries were, unfortunately, seasoned with something before I could interject do say "no," without asking me if I want them seasoned or not. It's a bit of an odd mish-mash: A Turkish owner/chef, recently immigrated from Germany, offering pan-European cuisine (e.g., Turkish, German, Italian). Perhaps it works. Perhaps other menu items are fantastic. I can't help but think of Gordon Ramsay saying, "fusion cuisine equals confusion cuisine." Or, if not an actual "fusion" of European cuisines, then Ramsay again comes to mind as he has talked about trying to do 3 different types of cuisine usually ends up meaning NONE of them are great ... it is better to focus on and perfect ONE.

Dropped in for my first time on lunch. Very clean and great customer service. Ordered Donair in a box. It was fantastic very tasty! Will need to check out the schnitzel dinner on the next visit.

Sublime. We had the falafel plate. So good we ordered extra falafels to go. Moist and crispy in all the right places. We also had the spaghetti bolognese. Stellar interpretation of a classic. Finally, the chicken pita was one of the best I’ve ever had. Great textures, taste and umami. Can’t wait to go back!

We tried the turkey schnitzel and donair sandwich with a Turkish pizza to go. It was fantastic. Fresh and delicious with quality ingredients at a very reasonable price. The owners were very friendly and attentive. Try the yogurt soda, which incidentally is also made in Peterborough. A gem of a restaurant.

Stumbled across this place and was glad I did. The restaurant was clean, the service was excellent, and the food absolutely delicious. I certainly will go back to this place when I'm in the Peterborough area again.

I love this place. The doner is nice and lean, no real fatty bits like some of the shawarma in town. The schnitzel is also great, made fresh to order. I also enjoyed the pasta with pineapple and curry sauce. Highly recommend.

Second time here and great friendly service. Turkey schnitzel is wonderful. The meat sauce for pasta is meaty. Rhubarb sparkling juice is a delight. Caution they season the fries and a mushroom sauce comes on schnitzel so if you don't like that make sure to ask.

Authentic turkish and middle eastern food. Awesome behavior. Food was very good. Donor platter is a must try. Good location and nice environment inside the restaurant. One of the few halal restaurant in Peterborough, Ontario. Have good variety of food. From rice to turkish pizza. Your call. Hope they prosper more. I had the beef doner and would not recommend it. When I walked in and saw the chicken on the rotating spot I was intrigued. The gentleman behind the counter recommended the beef instead and unfortunately I listened to him. The beef came out of a zip lock bag what was in a warmer. I will definitely come back and try the chicken which I originally intended.

I will try Zaffron a 2nd time but this time was disappointing. Had the falafel , a gooey mess (all over my shirt), too much sauce and lettuce. Couldn’t fit the last falafel in the sandwich so it sat on top. Could have been good!

Ok first of all, is this the 'Schnitzel House' like the sign ssys, or is it the 'Zaffron Grill' as it shows on the receipt? Names matter, especially when the name is 'schnitzel' and they dont in fact have schnitzel! I tried the chicken pita, very big for the price, hard to eat without a plate, knife and fork, otherwisr messy, and too salty for my taste but im not a saltaholic

Update: been a regular here for several months now. Noticed that the prices were slowly creeping up and now a Donair plate is 15$ plus. For me the value is waning. Still delish food however. Old post: Awesome place. Much different than the east coast donairs I'm used to (maybe even better??). Love their sauce and it's a nice place to sit down in.

Service was good Id give 5 stars for that. We spent $40 for hard meat when you bite into the meat it was so hard it almost turned to powder in your mouth and crunchy. It was like it was left out all day over half the meat on my donar plate was hard, my wife had hard pieces in her donar on the pita. Not worth the money for dried meat.

Nice place. Owner is super nice. Interesting story, very personable. But bro: ask people first if they want seasoning salt on their fries before putting it on!!! It was extremely salty!! Let customers do it. To be honest, the schnitzel was good but overseasoned. Got to go easy on the salt. Other than that, could be better if those things corrected.

Had the beef doner plate. Solid portion of meat, also came with a salad and your choice of rice or fries...I had fries. Overall a solid purchase, good taste and decently priced. Well worth the try and I would recommend to anyone that's willing to try something new!!!
