Visited the patio yesterday, the service was very friendly and great. I had the Margherita pizza which was much different than I was expecting with shredded cheese and excessive oil, tasted ok.

Sat on the patio for Canada Day dinner. Enjoyed an order of mussels and two feature entrees: rainbow trout with dill sauce, potatoes and veg and sirloin steak topped with blue cheese and fried onions, with mashed potatoes and veg. The mussels were pretty good, but we would have liked more sauce. The rainbow trout was delicious, but a side of plain baked potatoes were a little disappointing. The steak was excellent with the blue cheese and onions, but the sauce tasted a little ‘gravy-esque’. The staff was lovely! :) very friendly and helpful. Overall, we were both satisfied and full! :)

Peterborough has a small city vibe, so I was pleasantly surprised by this resturant. I am from a big city (Saugga). We chose this resturant to celebrate my brother’s graduation. It’s pocket friendly, especially because we got 15% off because cause the of the hotel discount. I order calamari as a starter, which I really enjoyed, My entree was a pizza, it was tasty and I could tell everything was made at the restaurant, from the dough to the pizza sauce. My brother ordered steak, the steak cut was good. I enjoyed my food (and my brother’s lol) The sangria was watered down, I want to taste my wine ! But other than that I enjoyed my experience.

Pretty disappointed. Small serving for the price point. Had the chicken stew which was thickened with corn starch and didn’t have much core substance. It had an Ok flavour though not much chicken or veggies. It was a very small bowl and it came with a bun. The bun was nice and fresh. There was barely enough butter. For $12 I expect more. I’m not satisfied. I’m heading across the street for a roti...and probably not returning. Underwhelmed.

Great little Bistro bar in the cities downtown. Serves locally brewed beers as well and popular commercial brands. The food was very flavorful. I would recommend the muscles for sure ????????. The pizzas are done on a flatbread and many options and tastes to choose from. This place looks like it would have a great pattio in the summer. Can't wait to go back and try it out. Definately would recommend stopping into Kettle Drums and give it a try ????????

It was out first trip to Peterborough and it ended with a great dinner in Kettle Drums. We sat on a patio and it was a great choice. The appetizers came fast , the food tasted delicious. We ordered the angus steak and trout for the main dishes. Kids had a burger and pizza. Definitely will come back

The food is amazing. Never disappointed. You gotta try the pizza if you're a pizza lover. Their own freshly made dough made nice and thin. If you are a mushroom garlic lover try the portobello mushroom! Ohhh. And bacon too!!

Food is very good, along with the service. Although the only problem I had was with the mussels. They tasted very bad, and had a very strong fishy odour to them. I would definitely come back but not for the mussels.I loved that you could pick any salad and any pizza for the same price rather than limiting it to the cheaper or more basic choices. I had the peach salad and the pear pizza. Both were delicious. I literally wiped my plate clean! Excellent service as well.

Very nice place to sit and eat, 2 different patios, and a very nice location!! The inside is super clean, staff are really friendly! Food is delicious!!!! Will deffibateky be back! And if you want to have a casual beer or meet an old friend, they have a gorgeous concrete bar that is huge! Must to at least go in and look at that!!

The food is second to none and the service matches that. The atmosphere is warm and inviting - seems a little more upscale than I'm used to but once you are greeted you do not feel like you are in a snobbish place. I am a vegan and was able to have an excellent meal and appetizer. I can't wait to bring family here for a nice dinner. We will be back for sure.

It was our first visit, Hubby and I were looking for a new place to go to other than our usual few favourite restaurants, we don't usually eat in the downtown core, but this restaurant looked the best by their online menu (I'm soo picky!) and other reviews on here. We're not disappointed! I ordered a beef sandwich and Hubby ordered a wrap, both were very decently sized - I took 1/2 my sandwich and 1/2 my poutine home with me. I got an Empress gin to drink and it was as delicious as it is beautiful. The inside was nice and clean, very modern and interesting (cheese graters were their light fixtures, it worked!) Outside patio is very nice, it's also in a nice location so you don't get ruckus around you, just people walking about their day. Great service. Would definitely recommend.

We were greeted at the door right away, and taken to our table on the patio. Everything looked great. And then we watched two other tables get seated, two other tables have drink orders taken, two other tables had their meal orders taken. Not one server came to speak to us, offer us a drink, tell us about the menu, or had any interaction with us at all. We sat for over 15 minutes, then we left. Very disappointing.

Finally went out for dinner and picked Kettle Drums! Perfect storm. Ordered a bottle of red and they ran out of wine glasses, had a choice between a short glass or a brandy snifter. Beet salad came without the candied pecans. Salad came at the same time as the main course (because it took so long to get the salad to start with), even though we asked for the salad first to start… so by the time we had the main course, they were not warm anymore. It’s too bad, they used to be so good. Sad that it was such a disappointment. Staff were nice, however. So for that, thank you.

Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. The house salad was very strong on the garlic, if you like that sort of thing you will love this! The pasta was on par with other mid-high end restaurants. They had some very interesting combinations that all looked appealing. The "home made root beer" was a very tasty treat, it had a nice pepperiness to it. The menu had a wide variety of options without being overwhelming. Prices are reasonable. I recommend trying this place out, I'll be back to sample more of the menu! Plating was pleasant, food was fresh and hot.

Amazing home made high quality food! The Mac and cheese is amazing it’s usually my go to, however i have also tried their spicy chicken sandwich and it’s was delicious, as were the fires. I HIGHLY recommend the daily cheesecake, I am a huge cheesecake fan and order one everytime o go out the eat and it still remains the best I have ever tried!

Fantastic food. Everything was good. The fig appetizers (kinda expensive though), the fish and chips, the mac and cheese, and the chicken caesar wrap = all delicious and fresh. And no bake cheesecake was excellent too! Service was good, food arrived in a timely manner. Beautiful patio in good weather. Definitely a high recommendation from me and my wife.

This was my first visit to Kettle Drums. I had never been before, so my wife and I decided to take our 10 year old for lunch. I wouldn't describe this place as "fancy", but I felt underdressed in jeans and t-shirt. Regardless, I can't discredit them for my reluctance to be fashionable... Anyway, it was about 1 pm and the place was packed with the final act of a lunch rush. We were quickly seated and served. The menu had great selection for lunch as well as dinner, but we were just having lunch and draught beer and 7up for my boy. I ordered their Beef Au Jus sandwich with fries and it was delicious. My wife had a fancied up grilled cheese sandwich with apples and asparagus that she said was fantastic. Our son had a large order of fish and chips that his mom and I helped him to finish. It was all delicious. I will definitely return to try something else from their menu.

Well with the first try on Italian food, I had lot in my mind as it was special day with a possible relationship with a girl. And the day was my birthday. Went there with high hopes and they were just bang on. We ordered Bruschetta asond side with salad and Pizza. Though the food was light on taste it was amazingly well cooked and fresh. The pizza was absolutely tasty. If anyone give a go on Italian food,this place offer some exotic experience with fresh food.

At the time of visiting this restaurant I had lived in Peterborough county for a year and had become weary of eating out in the city because I had been disappointed way more than I had been satisfied when we were eating at non-chain restaurants. Kettle Drums restored my faith in Peterborough food! We had a good chunk of my family in the restaurant and everyone walked away happy. The service was good, the selection worked for a variety of different palates, everything came out at an acceptable pace and the over all dining atmosphere is very nice. We will definitely be back.

This was my first visit, and I ordered a Lavender Vodka Lemonade, which was refreshingly delicious. My entree was the Kettle Club with a Caesar Salad for an extra fee. Sandwich itself, was tasty. Not sure if we picked a bad day for lunch (Wednesday) but they were definitely understaffed for how busy it was. I waited 30 minutes to be told what I ordered was not available that day (prime rib au jus), and overall what was intended to be a tasty and prompt lunch took at least an hour and 45 minutes. Wonderful place to eat. Great both for lunch and dinner. The entrees are delicious - love the roasted chicken - the sauce is too good. Steak is also incredible. Love the wine selection. The sangria is so yummy too. The pizzas are unreal - my favourite is the Piedmont. So good. For lunch, love their take on grilled cheese. My husband raves about the burger, the big one. BEST FRENCH FRIES IN TOWN! If you love poutine - you cannot miss out on this masterpiece. Love the specials they have here. Love that the owner comes out and makes homemade ice cream right in front of you. Brunch is also a hit. Atmosphere- wonderful, both inside and the great patios! Definitely try this place out :)

Good pasta and cheesecake. Avoid the fish and chips. I've been here twice, first time I had the prawn pasta dish which was great. Nice texture parts, fresh seafood. Had fish and chips, fries were nice but the fish was absolutely tasteless, no flavour at all.

Good was excellently presented and we'll portioned so you get your money's worth. My only reservation about the place is the slightly sloppy dresser waiter, might not be all the time, and the cheese grater lights were a bit funny when trying to take in the atmosphere. Over all a great place to eat if you enjoy the food and the drinks.

We ordered the salmon dinner and it was $27 of way overcooked salmon and a lot of potatoes with some steamed veg. The apple & Brie sandwich was also a bit sad. Seems like lots of folks love this spot but it’s not for us! This is the second time I’ve tried takeout from here. Maybe eat-in is the way to go?

I had a friend in town so we decided to try out this new restaurant. Not overly large but they have extensive outdoor decks when the weather is nice. The food is very good and the menu is quite extensive. Tuesday night was the Pasta Special so had a pasta with shrimp dinner which included a Caesar salad. A little on the expensive side but I would go back again and next time try some of the steak or roast beef options. Nice addition to the restaurant scene in Peterborough

My mom and I, from separate households, both threw up after dinner there last night (for her 70th birthday) and I called to let the restaurant know their calamari might be off..the manager suggested we may have had too much wine and then said "I don't know what to say" ... not sure I'll be bringing anyone back there any time soon.

Food and drinks were good, prices were good, but our server was taking too long for everything. For lunch on a Saturday when the restaurant was empty, it was ridiculous. It took us nearly 30 minutes after ordering drinks for her to come back to take our food order. When we got our food, she asked if the bills are together or separate, then brought the bills as we were half done eating without her saying anything . We were going to order dessert, but decided not to because we had our bills already. This place was not hospitable or courteous and they make you feel like you’re inconveniencing the servers.

Stopped in on our way to the Canadian Canoe Museum. Nice space and clean look. Food was excellent. Wife had turkey burger... Thick juicy and hand made - not from frozen. Sweet potato fries were crunchy and perfect. I had the roast beef and it was huge! Very good price for the quantity of food. Service was fast and friendly. Free parking too!

0/5 stars. Had heard good things about the place so I phoned in and made reservations for my wife's 40th. Asked for duck wings, were "sold out", the appetizers we did get were just ok. For our entrees, I ordered potpie, she the steak & shrimp and here is where it gets interesting - she orders it rare, and it arrives at the table well done side of medium rare, and stone cold. The sides were also cold, including my mashed potatoes. The steak was an insult. We sent it back, and get this, they return with the SAME steak, warmed up. Completely unacceptable. How do you get a rare steak from an already overcooked one? At this point, our disappointment and insult has caused us to lose our appetite. The cooks also simply reheated my potatoes. Also of note, 2 or 3 times prior to the steak fiasco, my wife and I felt ignored at our table, with empty glasses as the servers (Tinderellas) played on their phones and giggled at the bar. She did score one small point by offering my girl a sliver of chocolate cake with a candle, out of pocket to make up for our poor experience. Sadly by this point it was all too little and too late. We paid for our drinks and split. What a waste of our time and food. As we left the restaurant, Big Red the prostitute happened to be on the sidewalk with her dog and begged for a couple dollars so she could "get a burrito or something". The kitchen should have given our discarded meals to them... Poor dog.

Exceptional in every manner possible! Food, service & ambience on patio were all excellent. Kettle Drums is PTBO’s hidden gem! Highly recommend. Sam was attentive, informative & friendly with her service. Great server. The mussels, cheese dip & bacon wrapped figs were all outstanding appies. We had the burgers & pasta as our mains & they too were delish. Cocktails were also very good. My only bone of contention was that the cheese curds were lacking on my Poutine- but it was very good & still enough to warrant my 5 Star ⭐️ Google rating. Great job KD’s! ????

Attended a small birthday party quite a while ago. Unless things have changed in the past couple of years, food was good BUT RATHER PRICEY FOR THE AMOUNT RECEIVED. Because of this fact, haven't been back since. Ambiance was pleasant - parking a little restricted - but that was then - things may have changed. 3 ???? -1 because of $'s.

After viewing the wide selection on the menu we decided to forgo the typical steak dinner on a night out. We had the pork medallions, sea bass, and shrimp. Our entree was a perfectly fried serving of calamari. Sampling each others dish we agreed quite possibly this has been our best meal out ever! Prices were very fair. Ambiance was average. They could upscale the interior to match the fine dining cuisine. Keep your chef and wait staff. I always watch staffs interactions and they were all having a great evening in a very busy restaurant.???? ????????

One thing that was disappointing was that my office was turned away for a lunch order for 8 people, which is pretty unheard of.. apparently it was too much for the cooks in the morning and they won't fill big take out orders so that was a let down.

Stopped for dinner on our way through from Quebec City. As foodies, we were very pleasantly surprised that all the dishes we ordered were quite flavourful and we could tell that the person who created the dishes really loved good food. The stand out dish was the beet salad; a humble dish that was elevated with a few changes to the normal chevre and pecans. The pizza, buffalo chicken and mushroom ravioli were all yummy. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

We were a party of 9 tonight. 10/14/21 Being in the service business I understand it is difficult for servers and restaurant owners. I am courteous and tip generously. My friend and I both ordered the Mac & Cheeze. It was not good at all. Both of us said it was terrible. I left mine after a few bites. When our dissatisfaction was brought to the attention of our server we were told "Everybody else likes it. It's the house favorite " Well everyone else wasn't served what we were! There was no panko crust or baked. I was not treated like a valued customer so I just won't come back then. You take our names and number. You can call me.

Placed an order online for pickup (as indoor dining isn’t allowed right now) went to pick it up but when I got there was informed the restaurant was closed.. I wasn’t able to get a refund for the order as their internet was down. While I empathize with restaurants right now and I understand that stuff happens.. someone shouldn't be able to place an order and pay for food and then not get their money back when the restaurant can’t provide it.

I thought I liked this place but after today I come to realize I don't. The service was terrible, all the waiters were just sitting at the bar having wine. We had no drinks, glasses were empty. Went in looking to receive a delicious meal, but instead received a dish of disappointment. This was the first and probably the last time that my mom and I will be eating here :/ My mom checked out the online menu before we went in to place an ordered and had planned that we were going to order from their special 1 pound of wings and a pizza, just to be told that the host never hard of the bundle before. After asking our questions to the host and watching her walk back and forth to the kitchen trying to figure out the answers, we decided just to place the order anyways to save her the hassle. After spending almost doubled then what we were prepared for because of checking out the online menu before hand, we finally got our food to take home. Luckily the wings were really hot, I just wish the pizza was just as hot. Once we opened the box that held the "1 pound" of wings, we were even more disappointed because it did NOT look like a pound. The pizza was nice, though felt that the sauce that was put with the wings was meant more for the pizza. We felt very ripped off and dissatisfied.

I really enjoyed our lunch at Kettle Drums.I had the lavender lemonade, sweet potato chips ( a must share item because it is a huge plateful) and the gourmet grilled cheese with house salad. The atmosphere on the patio was quiet and relaxing.. We were seated quickly by smiling friendly staff and though the entrées were slow to come they were worth the wait. We did not feel rushed to leave and spent quite awhile visiting our friends from Peterborough. If you are in the city you must try this fine eatery.

The last 2 times my husband and I went to the kettle drums, we were both up during the nite with awful stomach cramping and pains. The first time we just thought it was a fluke, then we went again last night and were up again all nite in pain. The food tastes good , but not worth the horrid cramping and pain afterwards. I've been here a few times and the food is ok but my boyfriend and I went on Monday and so many things went wrong, I'm not one to complain or even make reviews, but it was just so bad! Like so bad I'm never returning or suggesting this place! We ordered calamari and it wasn't even cooked and it was cold and soggy, I was starving and couldn't even finish it, it was so bad, and all it needed was to be deep fried more, and my boyfriend felt the same. I also ordered the Hawain burger and a side of kettle chips, the burger was average a little burnt but nothing to complain about, but the sweet potato kettle chips were cold and soggy like they were possibly sitting in cold grease ???? So disgusting, and my boyfriend got one of the sandwiches and fries the fries were yummy but his sandwich was so bad, it was just overly disappointing! Not to mention it took them 20mins to even bring out our menus and get our drink order, which considering it was almost empty is a little disappointing come from someone who is a server, just really sucked and to see it with this many stars people need to know about this experience.

We did not enjoy the fries that came with our sandwiches, it was over cooked and not crispy, we did not bother to ask for a new one. The patio was nice and clean, not crowded, we were seated right away but it took a long time for our food to come, I was looking around and there were only eight people including my family, if it was busy and the place was full then I understand for the long wait but it was just us and other people were already eating. It took 40 minutes before we got our food. Also we did not get our water refilled.

A beautiful restaurant on the edge of the old downtown area in Peterborough. They have a large indoor space as well as a large patio, and big parking lot. I ate on the patio for lunch. I had the salad and pizza lunch special. I loved that you could pick any salad and any pizza for the same price rather than limiting it to the cheaper or more basic choices. We started out with PEI mussels in a garlic cream sauce and the bacon wrapped figs with goat cheese to start. As a entree I went with the land and sea with the mashed potatoes. And washed it all down with a glass of Ephemere Strawberry & Rhubarb beer. Every morsel was delicious. 90% of the menu has Gluten free alternatives. The staff was phenomenal, and though it was extremely busy, the wait time was negligible. I would recommend Kettle Drums as one of the top 3 restaurants that I've eaten at in the last few years.

Kettle Drums is our go to for fine dining in Peterborough. When we go out to celebrate, this is our choice. Their menu does change occasionally, but the choices are always great. Friendly staff, efficient staff. I had the catfish and finger potatoes, my wife had the pork medallions in a bourbon sauce. Perfect. One thing I have come to appreciate is hot food when it arrives at the table. If it's luke warm or cool it goes back. This food was hot, hot, hot. Perfect.

The food was excellent; the sauce was a perfect pairing for the pork and mashed potatoes (mashed potatoes were great even without the sauce), and the vegetables followed suit. The service was very disappointing, however. We were seated at a table booked for 7pm. We finished our entrees around 6:30, and were excited to try the dessert options. Unfortunately, 20 minutes passed before somebody came to check in, by which point we were out of time, and agitated. Somebody had even taken my plate away after I finished, but didn't take 30 seconds to discuss dessert or getting the bill. The servers did have time to talk to each other, though. My father was only visiting town for the day, so this was a costly lapse in hospitality. TL;DR: excellent food, poor service.
