I first want to explain that normally Penny's would have earned a 5 star rating from us. We have been eating breakfast here regularly for months and have always had a good experience. This morning however, my husband found a hair on a side plate under his sausages. We were both certain that it was not from someone's head, if the meaning is understood. Understandably my husband didn't finish his breakfast. When we brought it to the servers attention she apologized quietly and removed the plate. Upon paying for the meal, which he didn't completely finish, there was no discount or further apology. To say this experience was gross is an understatement. We understand that these things happen but as a food service business you must be prepared to make reparations to the customer or lose business.

I almost had a heart attack when she told me the price for my burger and poutine but the true heart attack was after having the most amazing homemade burger gigantic properly made delicious and probably the best poutine outside of Quebec I have ever had I would not hesitate to pay for that quality food again thank you so much for a great meal

Wow, best take-out breakfast experience during lockdown!! Penny was so kind and friendly as it was our first time experience and brought our order safely to the car using curb side service. Once we ate our food, all we could say is Delicious!! Roasted to perfection potatoes, mouth watering eggs Benny smoked salmon and cream cheese on rye was out of this world! Also, the Cesar wrap was perfectly put together with onion rings that were ideally fried (not too much grease and they were the perfect crisp). We will definitely be back, thanks for sharing your deluctable dishes Penny!

We had decided to come here after visiting the website and noting it was “child friendly.” We were meeting family here on the patio for the first time in a year due to COVID, so we had called ahead to make sure they had a high chair for our son. They assured us they did. When we arrived, the hostess was horribly rude. Seemingly exasperated by doing her job. She informed us they couldn’t use the wooden high chairs “because of COVID” which is laughable, as wood is a wipeable surface. She just repeated herself, continued to be dismissive and incredibly rude. We left and went somewhere else in town and had a wonderful experience. Don’t go here if you want good service. Reply to owner’s response: Thank you for taking the time to respond to us. I would like to address a couple of things you mentioned - in asking my husband he did confirm that he called the sister restaurant, so I apologize. However, the hostess addressing us the day we were there did not mention any of the information you had. Her interaction with us went something along the lines of “We don’t have high chairs. We can’t use the high chairs because of COVID.” Her tone harsh and rude, and she rolled her eyes at us. We did not DEMAND anything. My husband and I are quite mild mannered people. We asked if high chairs were available. My husband then, confused said we had called ahead, and she again, very short with us said we had made a mistake. I understand you may have been very busy that day, it seems like a very popular place from our searches and the patio looked like a great place to be that day - however, the way we were addressed then, and quite frankly by your comments to my review are incredibly rude. And in searching the other reviews on google it seems like your hostess does indeed have an attitude problem that may need to be addressed. I have never left a negative review of a place before but the way we were treated left me very upset. I’m sure you have lovely food, but you need to work on your customer service. We in fact went to your sister’s restaurant and they were INCREDIBLY friendly, responsive and it was a joy to eat there - you could learn a thing or two from them. Thanks.

Went in for the first time to eat, There was a fairly long line. I wait. My turn, -"Oh it's just you, well those people behind you are three, they're getting seated first" My turn again - "Oh but those people behind you are two, so they're going to have to be seated first" I heard good things about this place, but the grumpy lady running it doesn't understand service. Unfortunately they will never get my money or any from the 6 people living in my household who just moved with me to Perth. Great first impression.

Hubby & I stopped here earlier today to grab a quick lunch; he had the Cheese Burger Deluxe & I had the Chicken Walnut Salad. Hubby really liked his burger but the fries seemed to be cooked a bit less than we like... waitress brought the fries back to the kitchen, who ended up bringing a fresh dish of crispier fries to our table. ☺ My salad was delicious! The smoked chicken really brought it over the top... they provided dressing on the side (homemade!), and the salad had a nice drizzle of balsamic reduction. We'd like to go back & try their breakfast menu -- breakfast is served all day, we were told, but their "all day" ends at 3pm when the restaurant closes for the day.

A friendly and homey little spot that serves up unpretentious and classic fare. Perfect when you're out and about on long weekend holidays and your family's staring you down with rumbling bellies. My only beef: make the washrooms gender-neutral, remove the scented products, and put a baby change table into the bigger of the two. There's lots of room for one in there and parents will love you for it. :)

This was my second visit and I ordered a Southwest Chicken Poutine which I had enjoyed on my previous visit. To my horror, I discovered a lettuce leaf stuck to the bottom of the bowl after having eaten about half my meal. I reported it nicely to the staff who apologized, but brushed it off. Unfortunately, this incident has made me question the cleanliness of the kitchen and consequently how this was allowed to happen in the first place. I would love to give this restaurant a glowing review, but cleanliness and care in the kitchen is far too important! Based on your reply: All customers have a right to clean food and an apology not an argument from management nor a retort to check inspection records! This should never have happened and your reply is unacceptable.

My only regret is not taking a picture of my food before we ate! It was a delicious breakfast, we were well attended to even though it was busy and they even had GF toast options. It was our first time in the area and it was highly recommended- you absolutely did not disappoint. We will be back again soon!

This past Sunday, my partner and I went to Penny's Place for the first time and it definitely won't be our last. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and my partner ordered the breakfast poutine, and honestly, IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST MEALS OF OUR LIVES. My dish came with a side salsa that was good enough to bathe in. Everything was made to perfection. I live in Ottawa, and I will certainly be making the drive to Perth regularly just to eat this food. I told my partner that this food - alone - is enough to make me consider relocating to Perth. It is THAT good.

I frequent Pennys Place. I have never been disappointed with the food. Likely the best breakfast in Eastern Ontario. Penny and her staff are so friendly yet professional...they make you feel like family. If you are ever in Perth or passing through....do yourself a favor and stop at Pennys!

I was not pleased with this establishment. Our eggs and bacon were overcooked, the "beef veg" soup had green and white onions and carrots...the cesear salad had WAY too much dressing. The waitress was very inattentive which was discouraging BC we watched the other tables receive great service. The only redeeming qualities were the cleanliness of the establishment and that they refunded my meal.

I love this place! The location is great, a nice drive out of Ottawa for amazing food. There is lots of parking. Restaurant is like being in your mother's kitchen. Fresh prepared food, turkey cooked in house, amazing candied walnuts. I have eaten here a number of times and each time it gets better. I love the variety, the changing monthly specials. Homemade pies! Takes me more time to choose what I want then the service to get it on the table. The wait staff is quick attentive and knowledgeable. Everyone should eat here just top notch!

We went to Penny's this morning on our way home. We come from about 4 hrs outside of Perth and were looking for a breakfast spot before we left. Penny's Place is probably the best breakfast we've had in A LONG time. My partner and I were blown away. Amazing food. So fresh, and absolutely delicious. Food is usually greasy and everything that I have tried tastes the same as the other items on my plate (about 6 visits in total, giving them the benefit of the doubt each time) I also find that the Coffee is too weak for my liking. They serve Folgers, which i have purchased myself on many occasions and found it to be ok if made properly. If you dare to complain about the food, dont expect any kind of reduction on your bill or even an apology from the unfriendly owner.

I wouldn't recommend this place to locals or people driving through on highway 7. Not only is it overpriced for the simple diner food it serves, but the food itself is middle of the road and bland. My burger was dry and was filled with rosemary. The fries were pretty good though .

Being new to the area, I had emailed a few weeks ago to ensure that they could accommodate my wife’s requirement for a gluten free meal. Penny assured me they work with the customer to ensure a safe experience We went today, and we’re not disappointed. The service was cheerful and I rushed, even though we showed up less than an hour to closing. The meal (Eggs Benedict and Tex Mex Breakfast bowl) was excellently prepared and generous - no way we could finish it in one sitting. We have a new favourite breakfast/brunch place, and people with whom we enjoy spending time
