Had a late lunch on the patio, it was a bit cold due to the rainy day but the view was lovely. I had the vegetarian bowl, it was ok, nothing I would call out of this world but I cannot judge a restaurant based on only one dish. I will try Mex & Co again and review accordingly.

All around amazing place. Food was delicious (I had the fajita bowl with veg chorizo, gf had chicken fajitas), margaritas were killer, service was above and beyond. Decor and atmosphere were fantastic. I will definitely be making a stop here next time I’m in town.

One star for the Friendly staff. The Food was all sub standard quality. Tomato (spaghetti?) sauce on chicken taco was not good. The Chicken in the quesadillas tasted like processed chicken (mushy), and the wraps were soggy. Terrible beer selection. This is not even close to Mexican food.

Highly recommend getting two fish tacos ???? ????! So light and crispy and perfect! A fantastic lunch! My parents took me here when I was avery young kid, so I thought I'd come back at 28 years old and try it again! Very good experience again! Love the views! I'd love to come back again one day and try the enchilada! It looked so good on someone else's table hehe!

On a night when temps were very cold they made us return outside to stand in the cold to add our names to the covid notification list. Then we had to wear our masks the entire time at the table until our food arrived then if you wanted to stay and chat after you had to put on your mask again at the table.The waitress kept her distance leaning way back as if we were infected. It was not an inviting feeling. It will be a while till we return. Food was decent minus the fly in my water glass but their new rules are not welcoming.

I feel bad for the people who actually think the food here is good. My burrito first of all had carrots and celery in it, chicken was dry, the sauce they covered it with tasted like tomato sauce from a can, and last but not least my rice was dry. My partner's quesadilla had lettuce that was warmed up? I've never experienced that before. Also..coslaw... Unimpressed with the food quality and the fact that they charge top dollar. I would recommend that the "chefs" eat a meal here in Ottawa at a placed called "Ahoras". I will say that the patio was really nice and the servers were wonderful

Took my father here for fathers day. For a small town it's not bad but it's not spectacular Mexican food. The service was great but the food was kind of bland and a little over priced. We got nachos and it was literally a single layer of chips with toppings and slightly over done. My chimichanga was fresh and hot but not very flavourful. Their hot sauce wasn't really that hot either. Not the best Mexican joint I've ever been to but not the worst either.

Good drinks, decent food but imo, could definitely ramp up the spicing and flavors in their dishes and expand on salad and vegetable options. This all said, I go here everything I am in town to sit by the river, a margarita or two and nibbles.

The service is good. The mexican food was not so good. There were carrots in my chicken taco which appears to be part of the sauce. The chips and salsa were subpar. There is nothing imaginative or flavorful about the food. All 4 of us were very underwhelmed. The atmosphere was very nice being on the river and the restaurant inside looks very nice.

Went to Mex&Co today for dinner with the family and I was very very dissapointed. I had gone to Mex&Co almost exactly 2 years ago and remebered having a great experiance. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. It was that memory that prompted my husband and I to make the 30 min drive to Perth today to relive our Mex&Co dinning experience with our 3 children. I dont know what has happened to this resaurant over the past 2 years but it has really gone down hill. The food quality was severely diminished and the prices were not reasonable for the quality of food we recived. Our waitress was extreamly polite, friendly and courteous but there are flaws even great serving staff cannot make up for. Firstly there were catipillars everywhere. We chose to eat outside as it was a nice day and sitting on the patio by the water is one of the selling points for this restaurant, but there were squished catapillars on the floor, live ones crawling around our chairs and one even fell on to my daughter's plate mid meal narrowly avoiding her food. We ordered fish tacos which were very little fish and more filler and batter than anything else and the pinapple on the taco wasnt even fresh! It was from a can and tasted terrible. I could not believe paying what we did for the tacos and reciving canned pinapple and in a restaurant! $20 for 3 fish tacos maybe half a serving of fish all together alot of filler and canned pinapple... I mean come on. I ordered a side of beans and rice which was advertised as: A side of beans and rice for an additional $4 On the menu. The rice was hard and dry obviously made hours in advance maybe even the day before by the taste of it and the portions were pretty small. The worst part was on our bill I was charged $4 for the beans and an additional $4 for the rice when the menu stated both for $4. We paid $8 extra for a SIDE of beans and rice. Maybe a quarter cup of each. On top of that the children's menu is so over priced. Almost $9 for half a cheese quesadilla and some pre frozen bagged french fries that were like mush in the centre. Not even real potatoes. Did not include dessert for the kids either which most places include in the kids meal price.The only good party about this dinner was the beer was cold and our server was great. Other than that I will never go back to Mex&Co and would not reccomend this place to ANYONE. I would seriously take a look at your menu and prices and try to get back to what it was like 2 years ago. Quality food made with quality ingredients and for a reasonable price. Maybe do something about the abundance of live and dead caterpillars on the patio and oh! add some more acid to your salsa. It was pretty flat. Some fresh lime would really brighten it up a bit.

Mex & Co is as charming as it is unique. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. We enjoyed a nice game of Clue while we sipped on the drinks that were recommended by the server. Would definitely suggest this to anyone looking to avoid typical chain restaurants!

I visited this restaurant last week and loved the experience. They offered patio only, no dine-in inside restaurant due to covid-19 restrictions. The service was good and my server was friendly but he was bit busy managing multiple tables at the same time, so the service was delayed. The food was awesome, I ordered chicken burrito and it came with fresh fries and also ordered chicken fajita. Both tasted fresh and chicken was cooked well. I will definitely recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Perth.

The service at this place is second to none. They are super friendly, make you feel safe in this Covid situation and make the experience truly enjoyable. The food is typical Mexican, the specialty appearing to be the vegetarian chorizo, which makes this a wonderful place for vegetarians to go and enjoy a variety of dishes. Local craft beer of excellent quality is served; and the cocktails are great. All this is set right on the wated on three levels, which gives you beautiful views and atmosphere. Recommended!

Was one of the worst thins that I attempted to eat. Very disappointed after a chit time of over 45 mins the beef taco was burnt and bitter and chicken enchiladas were bland. The beans were hard and inedible. Shame on you. Waist of money

This place is in a gorgeous location right on the river in downtown Perth. The restuarant is full of character featuring Mexican decor with dining indoors and out - out is on a deck right on the river. They served the best enchilada's we've ever had - such fresh ingredients and incidentally, the fries are amazing too! Love this place! :)

A local favourite! You can't beat the views and the heated patio. Excellent all around upscale Mexican food. I am a fan of their Tequila Chicken Salad bowl (you can eat the bowl) and the rest of the family gets the Fajitas - which are ample and always look amazing presented. Finish off with a churro donut and you've had a great Mex & Co experience!

The very best patio for sun in Perth. That means that even on cooler days you can sit out and soak up some warmth. We have been here many times just for that. Nice view of the canal. Above average Mexican food where everyone can find something they like. Cold drinks - very important! Service is “okay” and really needs to be improved and that’s consistent from every visit (sorry, have to be honest here). Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Perth.

However, I just want to point out that the owners of the restaurant are extremely kind people & supportive of their community. What can I say it is not the same as a few years ago horrible burittos stuffed with mush a tad too much spice to the sauce not a nice full stuffed burrito you can get at a real Mexican restaurant with sauce draped over its smothered in it so much it's literally mush. Chips and salsa meh salsa seems like it came from a can from the grocery store fish tacos are deep fried !!!! Came out very over done. No fresh food here. So many nice placess to go I would 100% pass on this one. You can make better at home.only thing worth it is the awesome service.

Average food at best for the price. What killed the meal for me was how truly terrible the 'chili' was. Chili is a good benchmark for any 'Mexican' restaurant and this attempt reminded me of canned meat sauce with a pinch of chili powder with a few random kidney beans thrown in. Too bad - great location and friendly service.

Very disappointed in this place. We did take away and ate it immediately after it was given to us. We ordered 6 tacos for approximately $50 and they were not good at all. The "soft shell" tortillas were hard as if they were old and had turned stail. The seasoning tasted like anything you could buy in a package at the grocery store (not in a good way). The service was friendly and staff were kind. The setting is very nice and I'm sure it would be a nice place to have a drink and maybe some chips and salsa but that's all I would recommend it for. The overall taste and quality of this food was NOT worth the money. I would be impressed if my 10 year old son made this food.

Really disappointed with this place. Cocktails weren't very good for the price, cheese nachos were literally just cheese on chips, and the service wasn't great either. View is beautiful though. Might be a better spot to just stop in for a beer.

Very tasty food, very accommodating since I don't like cilantro, it wasn't an issue! Sadly they weren't taking reservations, it was on a first come first serve basis, which meant we ended up waiting about an hour. Perth is beautiful though, so we just walked around until they called us. Beautiful restaurant location!

Avoid this place, horrible customer service. Was waiting for 40 minutes with my wife under the sun for a table, then some couple without any reservation just showed up and was sit on the spot?? Told the lady whats the meaning of this and she mumbled some excuse and asked us to keep on waiting. Really spreading the word to not come to this restaurant unless you want to be treated like nothing, with no apologies at all. Perth doesn't deserve this

I first went to this restaurant back at the end of May of this year. My sister and I were promptly seated and served. The drinks were great and the poutine was aswell. The fries were amazing! I left very pleased. Then I returned again in June. This time around it was completely different. My sister and I arrived and waited to be seated as the little sign says on the patio. We were completely ignored by all staff, not even a “hello, someone will be with you shortly” I mean, they even do that at McDonald’s. After waiting for upwards of 5 minutes as staff continuously walked past we were fed up and left. Not please at all with the service. I get it. It’s June so it’s busy, but at least acknowledge the customer and let them know you’ll be with them rather than ignoring them until there’s no choice but to leave. Then come July. I was craving their amazing seasoned fries and poutine and since I got such poor service the last visit I thought I’d give it another shot. And let me tell you. I regret it. Once again. We arrived and waited to be seated. Again we were ignored as a waitress walked past us 4 times. As we waited another couple came in behind us and waited as well. The waitress acknowledged them right away, she was extremely polite and asked where they’d like to be seated. Here we go again was all I could think. Then she looked at us and said, “and what do you want to do?” As if we were a complete inconvenience for her. My sister told her that service would suffice. Then once we were seated (we sat inside this round) I noticed how absolutely filthy it is. There is dust and dead bugs EVERYWHERE. This place needs a deep clean. I don’t even want to see the kitchen. I ordered the poutine as I was craving the fries with the amazing seasoning and next thing I knew it was right in front of me. Not even 5 minutes after ordering. Some may think this is good however, I don’t. The food was cold and the French fries had NO seasoning. NOT worth the approximate $12. And not as advertised. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this establishment. The service and cleanliness of the place is disgusting. Save your coin, go somewhere else.

Visited July 7, 2020. Excellent menu and great service. Super clean and I felt very safe. Staff wear masks, indoors mask mandatory if using washroom (which is single use only and also very clean). Seating is outdoors with loads of shade. Can't wait to go back.

The location is an added advantage over the mouth watering food they serve. We ordered cauliflower bites and they so delicious and the best till date. The chicken tacos were also delicious. If you are in Perth this is the best place to dine in. Will go again for sure.

The service is fine and the atmosphere/location is great. The food was bad. I got chips and salsa which purportedly “home made,” but the tomato was from a can. The chips seemed like something you’d get in a bag at the grocery store, and they were way too hard. The chicken taco was inedible, as it covered with an overwhelming amount of what I can only describe as canned tomato slop. It tasted like stewed bell pepper and canned tomato and not much else.

Goregous setting that makes you feel insanely cozy inside and the staff was fantastic! Unfortunately the reason for my poor review is the food. I had their burger and fries which was literally a angus burger from costco and russet cut great value fries from Walmart. I wouldn't care much if they didnt advertise that its a fresh homemade burger which it is not and unfortunately i got charged about 20$ for 4$ worth of food that also came undercooked. If i ever go back it will be to enjoy the atmosphere and i will be avoiding their food.

Mex & Co is situated in a very beautiful setting in the historic center of Perth. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with typical Mexican Paraphernalia, and is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The outside deck and eating area extends on to the canal, and provides some very picturesque views. The Restaurant has a good selection of dishes, and the service is friendly and prompt. The food is a good value for the quantity of food you are getting. Unfortunately the food is just ok (edible). This restaurant would not be in my top 5 places of the approx. 18 Mexican Restaurants which we have frequented in different cities. If we were to go back it would be more for the atmosphere than the food.

Apart from the patio and location, there's not much else good to say. The food is mediocre at best. It doesn't taste fresh, and it's certainly not authentic Mexican. I would say this place is better to enjoy drinks and some small appetizers rather than a full on meal.

Charming place! Intimate seating and atmosphere with with a touch of Mexican culture creates a cosy place to dine. The exposed stone, gas fireplace/stove gives it even more character. The staff is attentive but not hovering. The food is well prepared and nicely presented. Everything here is homemade...the salsas, tortillas, salads, dressings...and you can taste it. I love spicy food and this is the only shortcoming: no habanero peppers or sauce. Other than this, I look forward to going back.

The hostesses asked us to wait while they cleaned the table, no big deal. But, then they forgot about us and sat the next people who walked in...after waiting at least 10 min. The nachos were SO over priced. They had no toppings, weren't very good didn’t come with either guacamole or sour cream. Those were 2.75 and 2.50 respectively. The guac was maybe 10% avocado and the rest was just water, onions and tomatoes. 2 drinks and 2 nacho cost $80!!!! This was an overrated, overpriced disaster. Never again!

I really, really wanted to like this place. The decor is spot-on and the restaurant is located right on the water. For cold drinks by the water I'd come here again, but the food was not good. I had the chili con carne, a fish taco, beef taco and chicken taco. The presentation of the food was great, but there was no flavour and everything was flat. The service was also almost non-existent which was weird because the restaurant was almost empty.

Food was of poor quality! Came to this place all the way from Toronto seeing the reviews. We ordered chicken wings, which was very hard and it tasted like it was cooked long back and was just reheated and served to us. Fried ice cream was not fried at all ! Such a waste of money and time. A lovely mexican restraunt. The location for it is great, with outdoor dining against the river, and the indoor dining having an incredibly crozy and homey feel. I would recommend this place for the location and view alone, but the food is also amazing. Easily beating the quality of the larger tex-mex chain restraunts. Staff where friendly, and wait times where short as well.

My burrito was 50% limp, yellow lettuce and the rest was rice and cold beef. Overpriced too. No one in our party of four enjoyed the food. Beautiful location as other reviewers have stated. Perhaps this place was better some time ago with all these 5 star reviews. Get a drink here and enjoy the view, but avoid the food if you can.

Stopped in for a beer and plate of nachos. They have an upper and lower patio set up which allows them to stay open as their indoor section is too small for proper social distancing. Beer, a Calabogie craft brew, was good but the nachos were just so-so. Lots of cheese but the salsa is more like a tomato sauce without any real kick. The side of guacamole was small so get two but it is very good.

We went for a motorcycle ride to Perth, ON and walked to downtown. We decided to try out Mexi & Co for three reasons - the staff was friendly and prepared for Covid-19 restrictions, there was a line-up and we loved the outdoor setting by the water. Our waiter Jonah was very friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the chicken enchiladas. We will be back. ;-)

The food was not very good. The chips and salsa were $4.50. $3.00 for 2oz of guacamole and who puts corn in chilly. We had dessert. You cannot call apple crumble if it is porridge. Of seven spoons on the table all were dirty. The staff was great but the kitchen let everyone down. Second time for this level of food. Cant say we will be back

Currently sitting at this restaurant and came here based on great reviews. Every online website suggests this place as the #1 place to get food. I was beyond disappointed. Seeing the menu, I immediately questioned how Thai spring rolls fit onto a Mexican menu. We ordered appetizers, but the menu was too sad to even attempt to order mains. The apps we ordered were chicken nachos and cauliflower bites. The nachos claim to have “pico” on them, but cutting up tomatoes does not make it pico. The tomatoes and cheese were the only toppings on the nachos- I’ve made better at home myself. The fact that nachos do not come with any dip is an absolutely ridiculous concept and this is the first restaurant I’ve come to that has charged extra for those. The cauliflower bites were tiny pieces of cauliflower with a thick layer of batter, with next to no cauliflower inside. Extremely disappointed in this “Mexican” restaurant. Service wasn’t great and the food was an extreme let down considering the reputation.

As others have mentioned, great location, great decor and great staff. The issue is with the food -- it is bland. I ordered the lunch portion chicken fajitas, my wife a chicken taco. Usually you expect marinated chicken strips nicely grilled but we got totally flavourless chicken breast thickly sliced. My wife's dish was saved by the added house sauce but I could only add salt to mine which made it edible but not really enjoyable. Too bad. The place has so much potential!

For nice weather days this is a terrific location beside the river on their deck or in the interior which is lovely too. Unfortunately the food is just ok (and occasionally not so ok). If you are used to bigger cities, you might find the cost on the high side for what you get and the beer selection is 20 years out of date. Perth is a small town and there are better places to eat but Mex & Co have one of the very best locations.

Any time I travel to Perth, eating at Mex&Co is a must! Nothing like sitting on the patio next to the water enjoying delicious food. I’ve always had good weather when visiting so I’ve always sat on the patio but recently visited with less favourable weather and sat inside. The inside is very cozy and enjoyable as well.

It is a great restaurant with a nice vibe, and it is a huge plus that it sits right next to the canal. But, take it from a real Mexican, they do not serve real Mexican food. It's more like Tex-Mex. I mean, they served burgers and fries! Still, the food was great, and the staff was very friendly.

Dropped in on a whim and am so happy I did! Very friendly staff and true Mexican fare (of which I cannot find in Ottawa!) Beer and wine was somewhat limited but was well selected for enjoying with their food. I enjoyed a beef and fish soft taco. The beef was outstanding and the fish was quite refreshing. What truly stood out though was the deep fried ice cream. I have had several renditions but this one was by far the most authentic and well executed. All of this in a prime location along the water with plentiful parking nearby made for a great experience!

The location is ideal and the service staff great. But the food, not so much. Cauliflower bites over breaded and deep fried, indistinguishable as cauliflower. The pork tacos resembled dog food, and I would imagine, tasted like it too. The chicken tacos were dry and tasteless. Too bad it's one of the only places open on a Monday.

Tried Mex & Co. while visiting Perth a few weeks ago and was very unimpressed. Ordered the small chicken nachos which were $19 and received a regular sized dinner plate with one thin layer of chips, little chicken, no salsa, and almost no lettuce or toppings. Both sour cream and guacamole were extra. I could've made these at home for less than half this price. Same thing goes for the main course, I ordered the steak burrito which was super bland, the steak tasted burnt and it had no sauce inside? The fries were the best part of my meal. Service was also a little poor and our server barely came over to our table. Will never be returning.

Sent the double fajitas back, as they weren't freshly prepared, clearly prepared earlier and warmed up in the microwave or in the oven. Chicken dry and unappealing. No sizzle. Wasn't comped for the inconvenience of having to send food back and wait longer. They didn't even give us the paltry portion of chips and salsa for free. Staff not apologetic in the slightest. To be fair, the second attempt at fajitas was good.
