After reading the great reviews, we thought we would try Maximilians. Sorry to say it was disappointing from the start . When we arrived we were asked if we had reservations, we did not. We were told that 'reservations were highly recomnended'. Our waiter made it sound like he was doing us a favor by seating us. We had the special, large portions, the butter potatoes we very good, but the pork dry and bland. Our waiter was efficient but not friendly. Never asked us once how our meal was, gave us the bill without asking us if we were finished or did we want anything else. Caesar salad was just ok, dessert (apple strudel) was very good) .

Great menu if you want east european and better than my Omi used to make, beer selection could be more varied but what they got is damn good, staff is great, our server in particular was amazing and if I were a bolder man, I would have proposed on the spot.

Great service great atmosphere and great food. They were very busy when we got there and we did not have a reservation but they found us a seat within only about 5 minutes. I had the schnitzel with tomato sauce and it was great. They also give you a couple of pieces of bread and a small salad for free with your main course which is nice. I also had the chocolate mousse for dessert and it pretty good. Staff were well trained and courteous even though they were very very busy. Overall great experience!

I have visited this place for a couple times, on the way to Toronto, and I think the quality is very consistent. The Schnitzel here is great, with consistent good quality. The Goulash and other dishes are also quite nice. It also has some specialty desserts, which I really like that The service is very friendly. I mean, if you visit Perth, I think this is a very nice place for dining

Schnitzel, spaetzel and kraut oh my! The short of it is that if you are in the area, or even if your not in the area, Maximilian's is a must eat. The in-laws have been going here since the '80s, and I don't think the menu has changed! Which is good. They make the best schnitzel, hands down, bar-none. Service is what you expect from and old world restaurant, attentive and unflinching. The dining room has an German charm that gives you a sense of the alps. The patio outback has a terrific view of the pond with a fountain. Very picturesque. Reservations are recommended, and covid protocols are followed, depending on when this is read, please check with the restaurant for details.

I visited Perth with some friends and we entered Maximilian Restaurant for lunch. After a while of being inside the restaurant I started to feel a bit cold (totally my fault, it's Fall and I only had a short sleeve shirt) so I asked the lady who was waiting for us if it was possible to get the AC down a bit. She told me it was not possible and apologized for the inconvenience. I understood and continued to enjoy the drinks with my friends without expecting that just a couple of minutes later, the same lady would arrive with a couple of fabrics to cover me and my friend. We were totally surprised by the lady's kindness. Besides the excellent service, the food was DELICIOUS and the view was beautiful! I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to return soon to enjoy an incredible meal.

Constantly excellent, the jagerschnitzell is the my favourite, great staff, beautiful building. Patio is nice and has a view of the Tay Canal, it is shaded at the diner hour tho. We have been celebrating special occasions here for 30 years… always great.

Note: amended my review due to the uncomfortable and overly defensive Google review response from management. I will not get into a debate with a company online, but I will choose to never spend any of my money in their establishment again and will ensure friends and family are informed of my experience. Meh. It was edible. Nothing fantastic. Had a schnitzel dinner. Portions were good. Spatzel was bland and schnitzel wasn't very tender. Tasted like it was made from frozen. Red cabbage tastes like the canned variety I buy at wal mart. I really enjoyed their side salad but disappointed at the extremely small portion size. Prices were okay but definitely won't be rushing back. Too bad because I love German food.

It's been forty three years since we visited Maximilian's and it still has the same milieu and much the same menu. German based items, local beer and really friendly staff. The price is a bonus - very good value.

If you're looking for authentic traditional european this is your place. Along with following all proper protocols for COVID, the atmosphere is homey with European inspired decor. Service was excellent and the young man who served us was attentive with good humor. Limited menu ensures quality in every bite! Love the selection of local wines - was a nice touch. Great for the whole family. (Also get the sweet potatoes as a side - it's a must!)

Service was meh, food ok, atmosphere is older ppl like retired ppl home for the aged. Asked for coffee first and was told it would be a few minutes she was making a fresh pot. After my watery soup with little to no barley in it and ONE meatball but tasty anyway I had to ask for coffee again. The "full" Schnitzel was tasty, potatoes were creamy and you tasted the butter and yes delicious. Had to ask for a second cup of coffee. I had the one with two eggs and bacon and it was yummy. My wife had the classic also good. We got the special deal which was soup or salad, main and dessert for $30. The dessert was ginger cake - hope you like molasses. The dessert I believe was homemade but was not fresh. When we were done the waitress brought us a bottle of water even though my glass had been empty for a while. So food was ok, I'd go back but not my top 3, and service sucked - felt like she didn't want to be there.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful time at Maximillian’s last night. We were celebrating my daughters birthday and several other exciting events that have happened in our lives! The food was amazing! The staff were superb! We loved the live music. I was able to dance with my 3 grandchildren and it felt like we were dancing in the stars! This has been my favourite restaurant for over 40 years and I know it will remain my “go to” place for many years to come! Thanks so much and we will be back soon!❤️❤️❤️

My wife and our 10 month old ate here today. I had the schnitzel club sandwhich which was delicious!! We sat on the back patio and it was a great view of the water. Had a beer from the Perth brewery which was great as well! Great restaurant would definitely eat here again!

Good sized portions of good food. The restaurant was very busy and there were only two wait staff working. They managed as best they could under the circumstances, but one additional staff member would have helped. Will not hesitate to return.

Dined at this establishment on the suggestion of relatives who claimed it to be very good, for the one thing a Bavarian restaurant should be good for, Schnitzel! Granted the paper thin schnitzel was tasty, when it eventually arrived, but it was cooled by a coagulated mess of what I suspect was a mushroom soup being lumped on top leaving both the soup, held out as sauce and schnitzel, cool. The entire experience was less than MEH and the only thing worse was the "creamy vegetable" soup which was nothing more than a tasteless, runny, watery gruel that looked like it had been prepared in a blender. The wait staff were good enough to remove the soup from our bill of over $200 but we will now be in search of a better place as the time and experience at this much revered establishment was simply not worth it! I mentioned such was the case to the person I paid my bill to and was told they were sorry I wasn't happy but the waiter was also scarce once he took the soup back. I appreciate the comments from the owner and if my comments help them improve, then so be it!

Maximilian actually has authentic German cuisine unlike some other "German" restaurants I've been to. Very good quality meat and we had a hard time finishing our plates. The prices were very reasonable (we had lunch *not dinner*). The server was knowledgeable and very pleasant. I highly recommend stopping by this quaint restaurant!

Maximillian's is my all-time favorite restaurant not just in the Perth Area but in Ontario. My favorite is the Schnitzel. The cutlets hardly fit on your plate. I also love the spaetzels. Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. I would recommend a reservation because it is so popular.

My husband and I had a wonderful meal after doing some kayaking today. The service and food were amazing!!! My husband is a big eater and he could not finish his meal???? We felt very comfortable since all precautions are being applied at this restaurant. Bonus of sitting on the patio with such a beautiful view!!! The schnitzel and potatoes were fabulous and what a way to end a meal with a lemon strawberry cake!!! ????????????Highly recommemded!!!

Very nice but nervous waiter. We are offered wine without a menu: no idea of the price. Correct meal, nothing more. The dining room could use a revamping or at least a serious lick of paint. I do not recommend. I go to Perth often, have family there and will not be going back to this place. (Original) À cause de la Covid??? Zéro ambiance, aucun napperon, les lumières ne sont pas tamisées , on parle et il y a écho. On a l'impression de manger dans une cafétéria d'hôpital. Serveur très gentil mais nerveux. On nous propose du vin sans carte: aucune idée du prix. Repas correct, sans plus. La salle à manger aurait besoin d'un revamping ou tout du moins d'un sérieux coup de peinture. Je ne recommande pas. Je vais souvent à Perth, j'y ai de la famille et je ne retournerai pas à cet endroit.
