First and foremost, I want to start this review by recognizing how great our server was. We didn't catch his name, but without his great service, this place surely would be 2 stars from us. We came as a group of 5, with only one of us speaking French. He was very patient with us and even allowed us to speak to him in English, rather than having our one French speaker say everything. He let us know his English wasn't the best, but he understood a bit. He was fantastic, kind, and patient. I won't speak to what everybody else ordered, other than to say it mostly fell in the same range of rating. The seafood linguini was pretty good, at first. The seafood tasted fresh, and had a good bit of flavour. However, the amount of pasta and sauce to seafood felt off, and often each bite tasted bland, as the seafood flavour wasn't really imparted into the sauce itself. The serving size was good for the price, but again, mostly bland pasta and sauce, so by the time I was done, I was not enjoying the meal anymore. On top of this, the staff and (probably) local patrons smoke so close to the entrance that the restaurant smelled of stale cigarettes. It was not pleasant whatsoever. On top of this, the lighting was very dim, but not in any nice way. Felt very dingy. This place seems like a good place to go after a day at work to grab some beers and fries with some buddies, but perhaps not the best destination for dining.

Each main dish comes with a soup and fish cake as starters. I ordered a lobster and it came with a small side of potatoes, rice and lettuce, in addition to the 2 starters, all included in the price, $38+ tax, which is a relatively good price for Perce. The food was alright, not amazing, as it was fairly basic and old school, but had a home cooked feeling to it. The host also offered a free shot of an unspecified alcohol on the house, which I refused as I had to drive. This is a place frequented by locals. This place felt a bit shady on first glance and still operates like it probably did 30 years ago. Only cash is accepted. The host printed separate receipts for mine and my girlfriend's dishes and then provided me a calculator. Overall this felt like an authentic (perhaps too much so), non touristy restaurant to get a local feel of Perce.

All restaurants were full or closed (due to the time of day). The owner, Michel, a very charming man welcomed us (2 adults, 3 children) "we are tired, we are missing some ingredients but we will serve you with pleasure" he told me. And what fun we had. Pasta with ultra generous portions, "fish cakes" large enough to feed an entire family. And what about the quality of the ingredients (cod, shrimp, smoked salmon) !!! Fresh, never frozen, tasty, tender and very well prepared. While running between a few tables, while serving the terrace (he was the only server present that evening) the owner was able to take care of us, and respond to all our small requests. Forget the big restaurants on the water's edge, grab a tourist where you're just another customer, go cheer on small local entrepreneurs like him, you can't be disappointed. Nous sommes arrivés à Percé tard en soirée, durant la grosse saison. Tous les restaurants affichaient complet ou fermé (à cause de l'heure). Le propriétaire, Michel, un homme tout à fait charmant nous a accueilli (2 adultes, 3 enfants) "nous sommes fatigués, il nous manque quelques ingrédients mais nous allons vous servir avec plaisir" m'a-t-il dit. Et quel plaisir nous avons eu. Des pâtes aux portions ultra généreuses, des "fish cakes" assez gros pour nourrir une famille entière. Et que dire de la qualité des ingrédients (morue, crevettes, saumon fumé)!!! Frais, jamais congelés, savoureux, tendres et très bien préparés. Tout en courant entre quelques tables, tout en servant la terrasse (il était le seul serveur present ce soir là) le propriétaire a su s'occuper de nous, et de répondre à toutes nos petites demandes. Oubliez les gros restaurants sur le bord de l'eau, attrape touriste où vous n'êtes qu'un autre client, allez encourager les petits entrepreneurs locaux comme lui, vous ne pourrez pas être déçu. Si je pouvais je mettrais 6 étoiles... merci milles fois. Nous allons définitivement retourner. Bonne continuation !!! :-)

BEST seafood linguine and delish fresh fish with potatoes and salad. Everything tasted homemade and we cleaned our plates. I ate half my meal and was full and my hubby enjoyed his big fish dinner and the rest of my linguine! We were happy they had bottled spring water and full disclosure we waited awhile to get our water and meal but the food was worth the wait! And the staff were friendly and accommodating:)

Ne soyez pas étonnés de manger du riz Minute et de la salade industrielle cesar, mais le homard va être frais et franchement bon. L'ambiance à été pour nous assez déconcertante, malgré notre réservation nous avons été assis à une table qui n'étais plus fixée au pied. François nous propose des shooters en même temps que notre facture. Le personnel était clairement nouveau et ne savait plus ou donner de la tête. Malgré tout ce chaos, le rire a été au rendez-vous pour tous les clients du restaurant durant la soirée et c'est cette ambiance qui a rendu l'expérience inoubliable. Disons que c'était parfaitement imparfait ? Bref une deuxième visite s'impose un de ces jours à notre retour en gaspésie !

Par contre, la qualité des plats laisse à désirer. Le menu offrait 5 plats en table d'hôte. Nous avons choisi l'assiette de morue et l'assiette de pétoncle. Le poisson et les pétoncles étaient frais mais fades. Les accompagnements étaient aussi très décevants et manquaient de raffinement. Par exemple on nous a servi des tranches de pain style Gadoua pour accompagner notre soupe. La mourue était simplement panée sans assaisonnement. L'équipe est sans aucun doute bien intentionnée mais manque de savoir faire. Très décevant pour un établissement géré par un français. Bref, les assiettes sont le reflet du décor.
