This Restaurant belongs to the category of Sushi restaurant.
The sashimi that we ordered was still a little frozen inside when it was served. Other than that, everything else was good.
Great food, lovely service. Will keep going back.
Best sushi in town, both for quality and price. Literally the only Japanese restaurant in Penticton where I will order sashimi. Everything is always fresh, the tea is always on, and the owners are two of the nicest people ever!
Very disappointed!!!! Turned us away saying it would be an hour wait for food The restaurant was empty but clearly take out customers were more important than dine in?!?? Perhaps next time I’ll order take out
Great rice means great nigiri. Thin sliced fish on a large helping of excellent rice makes this place stand out.
Great prices awesome service and selection. Very well prepared by experienced Japanese sushi chef
Super tasty sushi at an affordable price. Can't go wrong!
Excellent sushi, but they also have some very good Korean dishes. Lots of place try to Bibimbap, but fail miserably. These guys nail it.
The Chicken Yakisoba was tasty, could've used more chicken.
Best best BEST meal....so delicious. Best place to eat! And I don't eat sushi like my other family members! Everyone was happy...and so reasonable.
Food was great. Was busy when I went but they kept up the service well.
Fabulous rolls. Udon is amazing and huge. It's a great place to enjoy a meal with a friend.
Absolutely amazing food, great atmosphere and service! Food is done quick and isn't too pricey. Dinner for two is around 30$ and well worth it.
Best sushi in town, been here multiple times and would come here again for the rest of my life. Great menu with lots of different rolls. LOVE IT!!!!!
Food tasted good. Did not look pretty though. Rolls were falling apart. The small restaurant was full and they were very slow. Waited a long time. Probably won't go back.
Hokuto has super kind staff, excellent prices and delicious food. We order there regularly and the food is always top notch. The crazy girl roll, crazy boy roll, deep fried California roll, and the awesome rolls are some of our favorites! Great portions too. Highly recommended if you're ever visiting Penticton or if you live in Penticton.
Thee best sushi in town, family owned and very well made rolls.
Solid sushi place. The service was good, the food was okay and the place is a mid-range sushi restaurant in Penticton. If you want better you'll have to go elsewhere and pay more but if your looking for a decent cheeper meal this is fine.
My go-to place when I have a sushi craving. The hostess is always so nice and the crazy boy roll is delicious !
Pet friendly patio and good sushi. The service is good and the team is friendly, but it may not be the best choice if you are in a hurry...
The food was okay, definitely not the best I've had it wasn't bad it was pretty good but not worth how expensive it was. And the inside is very cold and uncomfortable could definitely use some sort of decorating makes me feel like I'm being watched..
Food was good. Take out only at this time
Delicious :) My favourite Japanese/Sushi restaurant in town.
My girlfriend and I are in town doing a little bit of a wine tour, and being from Vancouver I love good Japanese food and was very much looking forward to a dinner of Japanese food tonight. She’s laughing hysterically while I am typing this. Here is why. She ordered some Korean Bulgogi dish, I ordered chicken teriyaki as an entrée, and then we also ordered some miso, agadeshi tofu, Gyoza, and it also came with rice. They apparently didn’t have their Covid dining protocols in place, so everything was takeout and I ended up bringing it back to the hotel. I had tried to initially order it over the phone, and was told it would be about an hour and told her I didn’t wanna wait and so I tried calling a few other places. But it was 6 o’clock on a Sunday night, and apparently most places that serve Japanese food in Penticton are closed on Sunday at 6 o’clock. So I circled back to this place and called again and she asked me to hold for a moment. I think it was about six or seven minutes at the point where I finally just hung up and drove over there to place my order. The woman who served and was pleasant enough. It seems to be a little mom and pop shop. So the Gyoza and the tofu was fine. My chicken teriyaki was really horrible. Skinless thigh chicken that had either been overcooked, or was so freezer burned that it was barely chewable. It sat on a really sad little bed of sprouts and vegetables. I asked for extra teriyaki sauce, and their teriyaki sauce was essentially a watered down broth of some kind. So when I got the chicken it was just swimming in this stuff. It was almost like soup. My girlfriends Korean beef dish was also quite tasteless and tough. iit was alss very very dry and just not worth the money that we paid for everything. I guess I’m spoiled living in Vancouver, because we have some very phenomenal Japanese restaurants there. Judging by the reviews of this place it’s supposed to be one of the better ones here. That’s a little bit scary. Live and learn. Don’t go for Japanese in Penticton.
Family run restaurant with both japanese and Korean food. Very laid back and good service. The awesome roll is awesome!
Both times in the past year I have gone in the wait times were over an hour. Tried again yesterday October 16/17 and same thing so went next door instead. No complaints about the food but they just don't have the capacity to deal with a full restaurant.
Always excellent service and outstanding fresh and hot food. Courteous staff.
My favorite sushi place in town always great service and the crazy boy rolls are amazing
Excellent price and sushi is so fresh! Beautiful music, quiet and clean. Thank you!
Fast Fresh and Fair prices!!! 3 rolls and an appt for less than $20 I have eaten Sushi all over BC....I would HIGHLY recommend ????
Had the caterpillar roll and m&m today and as usual was amazing. Never disappointed here ????????
Took 1 hour to receive our food. Food was alright. Normal pricing and normal quality. Will go back but not somewhere I would be in a hurry to return too. Service was very friendly.
Decent sushi but the restaurant has poor ventilation so if they happen to be deep frying when you are there you come out smelling a bit like deep fry.
Food is always consistently good. I also bring my own containers for takeout and they're great about it. Only downfall is the decor and and that they close pretty early... Not uncommon for Penticton though.
We love the crazy boy roll!!! Atmosphere is comfortable and staff are always friendly to us!
Very good food. The Awesome Roll is, ummm, awesome.
Best sushi in town. Period. I've been to every place in town and at Hokuto the price and quality cannot be beat. Husband and Wife staff are kind and remember me, even though I only visit one or two weeks out of the year, they recognize me when I enter and even remember my order! Whenever I am in Penticton, I make sure to stop in and you should too!
Friendly service and great food! Good prices too! One of our favs ????
Always a good experience. We tried the Crazy Boy (delicious) and the Awesome Roll. The name says it all!! The decor is a bit boring but the food is top notch.
Good food, OK service. when they have a full house service really slows down. but the food makes it worth the wait.
Wish I could rate the food but didn't get any. Ordering in person for takeout dinner, told it would not be ready for 2 hours. No thanks. You are open or closed, pick one.
Was recommended by 2 different coworkers to try the crazy girl roll from here and its by far the best sushi I've had in penticton since I moved here. Fast friendly service. So good. Highly recommend.
Great food. Mediocre service. Ok prices. The food really was phenomenal. Probably one of the better sushi places I've been to outside of the Vancouver area. Unfortunately the service was not good: slow, inattentive, lacking in helpful advice or suggestions. I don't know if it was just a bad server, or a hallmark of the establishment. It wouldn't stop me from going back probably, but not with as large of a group in the future.
I have been coming here semi-regularly for the past year and I don't have a complaint yet. It's a cozy little place with reasonable prices and the staff is wonderful, I've never had a bad meal coming here. The service is great and consistent
Amazing sushi and friendly staff. My hubby and I go here often when we need our sushi fix. Strongly recommended !????
Good little spot in Penticton, we drove up from Oroville. We were the only ones there, so can't comment on service when busy, but friendly staff and good quality sushi rolls. Fair prices and good clean filtered water is always a plus. Would recommend!
Really disappointed with this buisness. I ordered 5 types of sushi rolls and was told my order would be ready in 45min for a pick up order. I get the food, go home and immediately notice that my salmon rolls are room tempature and are extremely mushy as though they were left out on a counter until needed. My yam tampura roll was cold and the only good thing that tasted like it should is the Miso soup. I will not be ordering again as food consistancy is apparently lacking especialy when they are "busy" with suposed take out orders and an empty restaurant.
Best Sushi place in the whole world and in penticton
Great food. Reasonable prices. The wait could be a tad long, though.
Family run restaurant. Lots of parking in the back. Good priced sushi. Good quality food.
I wanted to be able to rate the food, service, and ambience, but the hours of operation as posted on Google were inaccurate. So all I know is that they can't post their hours accurately, and that was really annoying for our party of 6.
Outstanding. Everything was fresh and delicious, and very reasonably priced. Great service too.
Ordered take out and it was great. Ready for us and they are following the covid protocol to a T.
Definately considered family to Penticton, not only are their rolls amazing and priced well the staff are friendly and inviting. Very great memory and remembers all of my favourites!
Best sushi in town! Highly recommend trying their Awesome Rolls and Crazy Boy Rolls.
Rolls are well prepared and their specialty rolls are different from other options available in town and super tasty.
Great food, excellent service. I have no idea where any negative reviews come from. I've eaten at plenty of restaurants across the globe, and for a small town restaurant Hokuto serves consistently excellent food. Highly recommend.
I love this place. Cozy place, very prompt service, and always delicious food. My go to items are the crazy girl roll, crazy boy roll, gyoza, and seaweed salad. Menu pictures as of August 2018.
Excellent rolls and the seared salmon sashimi is the best thing in town!
Best sushi in Penticton, and better than any place I've had sushi in Kelowna. The crazy boy and crazy girl rolls are perennial special rolls and I highly recommend ordering one of them if you visit or order take out. I've eaten at some of the "rival" sushi places - one rhymes with MOJO - and honestly they put more effort on the presentation and less into the rolls. Hokuto is the opposite, sure the inside is minimal and the outdoor dining near a busy corner intersection, but the food is more than worth it. Go grab some rolls from here, add in some gyoza, and you won't be disappointed!
Really nice quaint sushi place Not too far from the Okanagan Lake The hostess/owner was very friendly and pretty much warned everyone that there is only one chef in kitchen so there might be longer wait than usual. Rolls were great and so were the price Crazy boy rolls
We went when it was busy, still got good friendly service, a little slow but it was busy. The food was all fresh and delicious. VERY reasonable cost
Always amazing service and food. Best sushi in the Penticton area for sure with awesome prices. The owner is very kind. And the crazy boy roll is AMAZING
Service a little slow but the food is really good. Place looks low key but comfortable.
Went to Hokuto on our way back to Osoyoos. Random stop and amazed by the food here. Menu was diverse with a lot of selection. The food was amazing with great sauces and fresh sashimi. Would rate this restaurant better than a lot of Japanese restaurants in Downtown Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby. Will definitely come back next time we are in town.
The sushi was fresh, the gyoza were tasty and the prices were reasonable. The owner works very hard to go the extra mile to take care of everyone. Hakuto is a very good place for a relaxing, casual meal.
Love the food. The Crazy boy rolls are the best!!!! Highly recommended eating here.
My fiancee and i with our daughter have come to this place for 2 1/2 years and have always experienced good sushi and great service. Very nice people.
Really good sushi! They even do the rice on some of of the rolls in a long boat shape instead of round sushi... Never seen that before. Loved it and so much easier to pick up and eat. Very tasty, reasonably priced.
Best sushi place in Penticton! Great friendly service. Delish sushi. Great location. I recommend the crazy girl roll!
A real crazy boy! Yam tempura roll was still warm when I got home. Great!!!
Excellent sushi and the staff here are so pleasant and kind. Highly recommend. ????????
I love this place! Their crazy boy rolls are delicious and their prices are great!
Food was great! Don't let the waitress chase you away. It's worth sticking around for the delicious food. ☺
Great place great food although it's takeout only right now ... go and support a great local business
My girlfriend and I eat at Hokuto often, usually to get our sushi fix. It is often busy with take-out orders, but if you can get in to sit; you are in for a treat! The couple who own it, and their staff are awesome and the food is delicious. Definitely my favorite sushi place in town and I would recommend it to anyone.
I eat here fairly often it's walking distance to the hotel. Food is always fresh and tasty and they go out of their way to make sure that you're happy. In the Penticton area I would definitely recommend coming to here. I myself personally have been coming here for the last three years and I keep coming back. Hopefully this year brings as many meals as it has in the past.
Great service, delicious food with no "fishy" taste. Ambience is very casual, and prices aren't for penny pinchers.
Very good
Great cubby hole come with expectation of warm greeting tasty food and a acceptable dining area ot is also very reasonably priced
We come here all the time, and we have never been disappointed. The food is always perfectly made and the place has a certain authenticity about it. The place is owned by a family who live upstairs and they are always happy and friendly. The sushi chef has a little stand right at the front of the restaurant, where you can see what he's doing! I highly recommend this place not only for the sushi, but for its other Japanese food as well!
Decent food ,cozy seating ,good variety of Asian cuisine . I've eaten here often and never been disappointed. In the summer they have an outdoor patio available.
Wonderful service, great atmosphere, very fair pricing. The menu is vast, with something for everyone. My favorite is the crazy boy roll, and the spicy agedashi tofu ????
Interesting food, ran out of some items so had to adjust our plan. Tea has a funky flavor? Water was good and price was right.
We have eaten at Hokuto 3 times now and each time, the food has been fantastic. The service is prompt and gracious and everything on the menu is good value for the money. We recently moved from the Lower Mainland where good sushi is in abundance. So nice to have found Hokuto in Penticton, rivalling the best of the big city spots. Well done, Hokuto Team! (A must try: the awesome roll)
The food is so good, all the sushi options are delicious, and I love their gyoza! The service can be a bit slow sometimes but if you're not in a rush then it doesn't really matter. I've been here many times and will continue to visit!
Fresh delicious food, great prices. I was told the crazy boy roll is delicious and it is. Everything was amazing. Definitely will be getting takeout from here again.
Love this little resturant. On my first night in Penticton I stopped here and was warmly welcomed and the food was tasty and well made. I have tried some of the other sushi places in Penticton on my trip and this remains my favourite.
While visiting the Okanagan, we decided that we wanted to have Sushi. Stopped by this little spot and was simply blown away by the quality. Service was friendly. They appeared to be understaffed, but the food was worth the wait! In fact, the food was so good that I can't actually think of any sushi places in this price range in the Greater Vancouver area that can even compare! We had multiple rolls recommended by the waitress, the Awesome and the M&M roll were to die for! The Awesome roll with the fried shredded yam was very unique, something that I have never tried before. For selfish reasons, I told the Waitress that they should move to Surrey. Since moving here from Vancouver, I have not found one Sushi place that even comes close in quality. I would love to have Sushi this good in my backyard.
I love this place, the sushi is some of the best I've had and the sushi chef's artistry is beautiful. Small place so don't go a peak times and you will be happy you did.
