We went in for a light dinner and literally had the best restaurant experience I might have ever had!! The building looks fantastic and the upstairs eating area is amazing. The hostess' were very young ladies, and they did an absolutely amazing job in their roles! Laura was our server. She was lovely and very professional, but still so friendly. We did not have an empty glass, nor did she hover. The food, though, was everything we hoped and more. We could not stop talking about our family who we know will love the flavors and quality of the food!! We WILL be back!

Elma is newer to the area and has a lot of extremely strong, experienced competition! But it can easily hold it's own against any of them. I never knew how much I liked Turkish food until I started eating there, but now I'm addicted. The cocktails are fancy and delicious (maybe too much so), the food is memorable, the service is the friendliest you'll find in Penticton. Absolutely Elma has everything that it needs and then extra! If you find yourself wanting a nice meal beside the beach, try Elma.

This is the most exciting restaurant to be added to downtown Penticton's food scene since I moved here 8.5 years ago. A perfect date night for couples or groups. Food is unique, decor is beyond fabulous, price point is approachable & fun cocktail list. They opened late in the season and I have been pleasantly surprised by the high level of service they have been able to achieve thus far. This is the spot, well worth the wait.

A very delicious dinner with exceptional service. If you want to get away from traditional meals, this is your destination. We had a group of 9 people with all shared plates. It was great to have a taste of everything. The cocktail selection was also very unique. The wine selection was all local wines which was perfect too. Probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Flavours were delicious, every single item we ordered blew our mind. The Turkish coffee was also very yummy, our entire party was stuffed and still had leftovers. Only recommendation I could make is the service is a bit awkward and could be improved in some small areas.

Not only is the staff warm and fantastic, they had their Covid protocols down pat which made for a relaxing meal. We had two outstanding cocktails, multiple inventive and heavenly dishes, in a gorgeous room with views. I was shocked at the incredibly reasonable bill. The same level of meal in Vancouver would easily be twice the price. Can't recommend it enough, this is a real gem.

Our group of 8 was treated great by our server but when we gave some feedback about the how the space is so beautiful but the food was quite bland we had a bizarre angry response from a manager. I hope the owners work to match the food to the decor and learn the value of honest criticism. The prices match the atmosphere, not the quality of the food.

How unfortunate. The food was excellent. They are understaffed. Which I can accept. They lied about how many staff were available in the section they put us in....front desk said three, wait staff said two. We watched a table that arrived and ordered 10 minutes after us get heaps of food- of dishes that we ordered - while we still waited for appetizers. I understand staffing issues. Our waiter was the bartender, which meant neither drinks nor food were easy to access. Would I eat there again? Yes. If I was demanding and authoritative from the outset. But that's not the way I want to enjoy a meal while on holiday. One of my dining companions was a server at a high end restaurant and was trying very hard to be understanding and pleasant to the staff. Come to this restaurant. But don't be upset by the nice people, who are inexperienced, giving inadequate service. It's never the servers fault. Whomever owns and manages this place has excellent chefs and a great atmosphere within a very unpleasant experience. Know your limits and offer service within them.

We called ahead to make reservations, to take my Brother in law and his wife here for dinner. We were over whelmed by the service that the waiter/bartender gave us, he was exceptional. The food was second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed the wings (to die for), the beef flat bread, and the eggplant dip is fantastic-in fact I have a new personal favourite food, and who would have thought it would be eggplant? Our family was blown away with the tastes and flavours. We will be bringing others here to savour the flavours and the service. Thank you for an experience that we won’t soon stop telling our friends about.

Finally had a chance to get down to Penticton and check this newer restaurant out! Why did we wait soooo long??! What a welcome addition to the Okanagan restaurant scene. The interior of the restaurant is like walking into a urban, big city restaurant. It is sleek and well designed with lots of natural light overlooking the lake and Lakeshore strip. Open kitchen concept, beautiful bar and COVID friendly seating both inside and on their patio. Now... let's talk about the main events - Food & Drink. The restaurant is Turkish inspired after Ayse's {co-owner} family history. They own the Motel next door. Derek Ingram, Executive Chef (previous Executive Chef with Fairmont Hotels) - has created an inspired menu that infuses local produce with the delights of Turkey. It is all very approachable AND very tasty! Lots of great flavour, beautifully presented and well executed. We enjoyed the Grilled Octopus (done on charcoal) w/ a lip-smacking bean hummus. Our server recommended the small-plate feature of the night - Okra in a spiced tomato sauce. All the plates are shareable (we encourage this style). Our main feature was the Smoke Lamb Shoulder with hummus, panisse, sumac onion, charred tomato, cabbage salad w/ Elma sauce & puffed grains. The lamb shoulder was slowly braised and was brimming with umami flavours and filled with aromas of the far east. All of the accompaniments were well thought thru and portion size was more than enough. The beverage program is fun with creative craft cocktails served in great glassware and beautiful Okanagan wines (each selected to pair with the flavours on the menu). Service was good. We had an attentive server who provided excellent suggestions. Looking for a nice meal in a great atmosphere - go here! Well worth it.

This place is amazing. And not just for Penticton... we are from Vancouver and have tried many top tier restaurants, and Elma rivals or beats the best of the best in terms of quality of food and atmosphere. And, this was during the height of COVID which obviously makes things more challenging for staff. The food was incredible. Every single item we ordered was unique and triggered an “omg” response. It was the perfect combination of complex flavours and portion, as well as down to earth yet beautiful presentation. Even our cocktail was top notch. Please, don’t change a thing! Kudos to the creators of Elma, the chef and all the staff. It’s an amazing addition to the Okanagan and we look forward to coming back.

Elma is different from all the restaurants in penticton. Not only is it delicious, but a refreshing addition to the local food fair. The staff are wonderful and super helpful when it comes to ordering. As it is a taste of Turkish cuisine here in our own backyard. If you don’t know what to order, be sure to ask the wonderful wait staff for any recommendations. It’s a definite must go to, if you’re looking for something that you won’t find anywhere else. I’m sure to put it on my list of places to frequent.

Beautifully designed restaurant with a delicious, unique menu. Try the Lara Breeze cocktail and the beef pide with the egg on top. Really helpful and friendly staff, beautiful view, and a great wine list featuring many of the best local wineries. A must visit in Penticton!

The ladies at the front of the restaurant did everything they could to not allow us in. They told us that since it’s an hour and half before it closes, they couldn’t find us a seat in an otherwise empty restaurant. Then they proceeded to let a couple after us in happily. They also said the menu is incomplete right at the end, they didn’t say this to the couple they took in after us. Incredibly rude, this has never happened to us before. It’s ridiculous that there isn’t a manager on site to help out. Do yourself a favour and go to salty’s Next door. Very friendly service. There is a reason why salty’s was filled to the brim but this place was next to empty.

There are a lot to say but I don't know where to begin with. In my opinion, this place is not an ordinary restaurant. We tasted hummus, artichoke pide, muscles, tomato salad, Turkish coffee, and Adana kebap. In every plate, there were some secret pleasure. Every single part of the plate for each dish was designed very carefully that was surprising my taste buds. It's been almost 5 years that I haven't eaten Adana kebap because it's not the original taste when is not eaten in Adana city. On the other hand, this kebap was whole new level of Adana kebap. Every dish I have experienced were innovative and fusioned with some small touches. Besides the foods, staff was also lovely. I would like to thank owners and team of Elma and also Ahmet who welcomed us generously even though his face paced busy work. I felt like there's a big passion behind of Elma restaurant. It's a big proud for me to see that there's an innovative, passionate restaurant with Turkish background in Canada.

Utterly delicious, with surprisingly reasonable prices for food. The cocktails were superb - the Elma Sour was my personal favorite, although I'll have to come back to try the rest of the ones I didn't get to. The building itself is beautiful, and the upstairs patio is a gorgeous semi-enclosed space with great views of the lake. If you're in Penticton, you shouldn't miss this place.

We are spending the night here in Penticton, and out of the restaurants to choose from we decided on Elma. And what a great choice we made! I had the lamb burger and my partner had the prawns. We were both satisfied with our meals and to top it off, an amazing dessert. A baklava with vanilla icecream. It was outstanding! Not too sweet either. Just perfect. There was a bit of a wait for us to go in, but well worth it. The service was excellent and very warm and welcoming and great talking with. They made excellent suggestions and were on top of everything. Next time I visit Penticton, I will come back and come here, and let everyone I know that's visiting to come to this restaurant for dinner.

I went in about a month ago to check things out. Only spot was at the bar which I didn't mind as a single. I had a glass of wine and a short rib kabob small plate. . It was cooked and presented very well. The restaurant is very chic and stylish. Prices comparable to any restaurant in Vancouver of that calibre. I wasn't there for an intimate experience so the hustle and bustle was just fine for me and I enjoyed that. I had the manager and owner stop and chat so that was appreciated. Service was efficient. Elma is well on their way to a 5 star with a few tweaks will soon be there. well done Elma.

Super cool location and decor. Friendly staff. Food was tasty. We had the meze flight with eggplant (like a babaganoush), muhammara (sweet pepper relish), and the house pickles. We also had the fried mussels. Both were so good! We ordered the fried halloumi as well but it wasn’t prepared correctly (perhaps a new cook that day), so they ended up taking it off our final bill. Would definitely return again.

The five stars here are mostly to our server Ebony. She was amaaaazing! Despite the support staff not clearing the table (I literally had to take the empty plates and glasses to a table next to us just to make room), and simply placing the incoming dishes at the edge of the table, the immaculate service from Ebony made our night. The food was delicious, although I would make a few remarks. The albacore tuna had a tad too much oil in in, but if that's the recipe - that's the recipe. Additionally, the lamb kebab description on the menu avoided the part, that it was ground meet, which was quite disappointing to learn after the dish arrived. (Looking up 'adana' cleared the confusion, yet the description should have a mention of such details for 'non-turkish-speaking-folk'). It was as deliscious as everything else otherwise. The drinks were great also, kudos to the bar staff!

There are a few things I will say about our whole experience at Elma. When we heard that their will be a Turkish restaurant with modern Turkish and Mediterranean dishes we were absolutely excited about the whole idea. As we walked in to our 4 pm reservation that we previously made on the Friday the week before, we made a requested a table for 7 people and they had us down for only 5. Minor mistake and was not thinking anything of it. They acted quickly in adding an extra table and chairs for our party. As our server approached us, he started by welcoming us and pouring waters for the table. We were only given a happy hour menu and we were there for dinner. We asked him about the dinner menu and told us we can’t have it until 5pm. We are all confused because no one told us that we are not allowed to have a dinner menu on the phone by having our reservation at 4pm. When I phoned to make the reservation they told us they only had openings at 4 and 8pm. As they day passed by and the empty tables stayed empty we knew that wasn’t the case. Anyway, to continue, he asked if we wanted to order drinks and we replied yes. 3 people from our party ordered drinks and the rest of the party were ready to order but he was so rushed to walk away from our table without acknowledging the whole table . When he came back with the drink he proceeds to tell us that we need to be gone by a certain time because another party needs this table. We were thinking that they should’ve told us about the dinner menu and time instead of rushing us out the door. We then decided to order 2 meza platter and they both tasted amazing. But after are table ordered the one platter and the other half wanted to order more drinks and another platter he yet again walked away from our table as if he was rushing to get us out. We waited until 5pm and ordered from the dinner menu. Now I must tell you, with our whole family being middle eastern we were utterly disappointed by the size of the plates and the lack of information given for the plates. Our server told us the chicken kebab is enough for 2 people and it’s barely enough for one. Traditional Mediterranean dishes and Turkish food is piled high and delicious. Always extras to take home and reasonably priced. These plates were all completely overpriced and absolutely not worth trying. It was very sad to see as we were very excited to have a Mediterranean restaurant that looks great in Penticton but very dissatisfied with everything. As we ordered Turkish coffee after dinner our server comes up to us and says hey guys the other party is gonna be here so we need you to leave, “no rush” but we were being rushed the whole dinner. Our total bill at end came to $400 and was definitely not worth half the price. Plates were small and definitely not what traditional Turkish food is like. Hopefully you can change it around and look at the other Mediterranean restaurants around and see how they load everything to the fullest and everyone leaves satisfied. The Muhammara is the absolute best thing on their menu and you should definitely try it. The chicken kebab and fried chicken were very disappointing.

Another fun and fabulous meal at Elma. Fun because we brought out-of-town visitors, and fabulous because meals at Elma just are. A table by the open windows upstairs, so the view and breeze were heavenly, and food that was just as heavenly and (we strongly suspect) addictive, but in a good way! We will return again and again, whenever we have friends or family visiting (which seems to happen quite a lot when you live in a lovely place like Penticton), and whenever we want a delicious, romantic meal, or just to grab an amazing fried chicken sandwich at happy hour. Wonderful!

We stopped in for a drink at the bar. We had a couple of the craft cocktails made by Damon who was behind the bar. We also had the flat bread which was also excellent. We had a great time watching him masterful assemble the drinks from pre-chilling the glasses to adding a concoction of bitters, herbs. fresh citrus and premium spirits. We watched him create large block ice cubes for keeping the drinks cold but not dilute the spirits. We also decide to split the flat bread which was excellent. Will definitely come back for dinner or just drinks at the bar.

First time with Turkish cuisine and it was outstanding! Never had a more delicious and filling plate full of flavours. The Stuffed Eggplant and Smoked Lamb Shoulder came out perfect (and for someone who doesn't usually prefer herby and eggplant-y foods) with just the right balance with their bread. The food is here amazing! Probably one of the top restaurants I’ve been to in BC. The food is creative, fresh, and well priced for what you’re getting. You must try their fried mussels and octopus. The mackerel wasn’t bad either. The half roast honey truffle chicken was a deliciously filling entree. We didn’t want to eat red meat when we visited, but my friends say the wagyu is a great option too! The service is attentive and friendly. I wish they did reservations here because I feel the hosts overestimate wait times on busy nights which can turn people away.

This place is simply phenomenal. From the exquisite meals, to the decor, customer service, atmosphere, the view, cannot say enough! I was completely blown away by the quality of the food and deliciousness. We thoroughly enjoyed and devoured the following: the Cheese Pide and Chicken Pide special, the Meze Flight with Elma bread, Smoked Lamb Shoulder (omg!!), Chicken Kebab (like never before, sooooo good), Turkish Fried Chicken (better than any in Vancouver), and finally the Sujuk & Burrata (what a surprise!!). We also had some Turkish coffee and dessert - a perfect way to end a perfect feast! @owners of Elma - please open a location in Vancouver, BC!!! The residents of Vancouver are clearly missing out :((

Where do I start, from beginning to end, flawless service. We sat at the bar originally only intending to have a couple of drinks. The barman (I think he said he's name was Damo) was fantastic and made us feel very welcome. The cocktails were very unique and suited to the genre of the restaurant adding to it's very Mediterranean style. We decided to eat, and choice a good selection of starters and two mains. Again, flawless. The food was amazing, three years of living in Canada and it was the best food we've had while dining out. The desert was cooked perfectly. All in all, we can't wait to bring our friends here and do it all over again. The whole evening was an experience we wont forget. Thanks Elma.

The decor was the first thing we noticed right away, very open, clean and modern. Then the food... I am vegan so being able to eat there and have options was amazing. The staff were extremely nice and friendly - as soon as the owner (Mike) heard we were from out of town, he came over and chatted with us for like 45 mins... I felt like I had gone there many times (which I will be during our stay) and got a very warm welcome. Highly recommended!!

Food here was awesome. Had driven by it a few times and hadn't noticed. When looking up top places to eat in Penticton this place came up. Really glad we decided to go with it. The staff are great and friendly. Plates are great for sharing. We grabbed one main and 3-4 plates to share. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The flavors are great and everything just looks good to eat. We took the lamb as a main dish to share and a few other plates.

This was the best restaurant experience I have had in Penticton. We brought my Mom here for her birthday and the service and food were impeccable. The room is beautifully designed and the service was prompt and casual. The food was so delicious and we all had a selection from the awesome cocktail program. A very welcomed addition!

Tasteless food, got served two plates of chicken wings With feathers still on, small portions and poor management. We ordered many dishes as we were a party of 8. When the bill came it was so messed up that our waitress had to go back and re-do it. 15 min later and still no bill so we voiced our concerns to the owner who seemed very receptive. Moments later she sent over the manager to take our payment. I’m still baffled by the extremely unprofessional, bazar demeanor of the manager. She was defensive, rude and refused to take responsibility for anything. At no point did we expect any discount or anything of the sort, we simply wanted to let them know that what we got served was below standards. If ownership and management isn’t able to handle customer’s complaints I’m afraid their business will not last very long.

If you like food, you are in for a treat. Every dish is meticulously crafted. Every drink on the cocktail menu hits all the right notes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The flavors are intense. Get the octopus. Elma is a gift. It's the kind of restaurant you'd expect to find in the buzziest parts of NYC, LA... maybe Vancouver, but not Penticton. Make sure to get a table on the upper floor, where you have an amazing view of the lake. And get the octopus!!

Nice ambiance. Drinks were delicious. Tapas style food was good, however I wouldn’t come here expecting to be full after your meal. Because of the share plate style, portion sizes, and cost, I would come back for just nibbles and drinks before or after eating a meal elsewhere.

And walk-in is ok..when we asked the same person what is the best time for walk in she told us 20:00pm.....Funny part is when we arrived 8 pm same night for dinner ,same girl at the door earlier, this time told us kitchen is closed.. Let me tell you something YOU ARE NOT UNIQUE ,NOT FRIENDLY AND DO NOT HAVE FAMILIAR DINING EXPERIENCE.When you talk about Turkey and Turkish kitchen ,it starts with Turkish hospitality which you don’t have and provide with your management..Good luck to you guys.

This place follows no rules or etiquette. We showed up at 8:45pm and were told that the kitchen was already closed. The next day we tried to make a reservation, but they said that they don't take reservations past 5pm. I asked what time the kitchen closed, they said 9pm. We showed up at 8:30pm, put our name down and waited. When asked if we could have the table outside, they said it was reserved for the couple behind us and that they reserved a spot for us inside and that we could not have that table. When I asked for answers, they said I was being rude. Their masks don't hide their raised eyebrows. I was so looking forward to trying this place out. I'm sure the cooks and servers are better.

My first experience at Elma when they opened exceeded all expectations. The service was amazing, the food was spectacular and the ambiance was superb. On my second trip, I met up with a bunch of girlfriends, and the service was so terrible, that no one got asked if they wanted more drinks after the first round (lots of opportunity to make lots of money there!), the food lacked in so many ways, but the ambiance was still really cool. I wonder if after such a successful opening, they are sitting on their laurels instead of striving to exceed each and every time. I won't be rushing back there again, and unfortunately, if this happens to others, in a small town, it won't take long for them to lose local business, and that makes me sad.

We really enjoyed our meal at Elma, the food is very good. The attention to detail and flavours are very apparent. We both had the lamb feature and it melted in your mouth. The Burma dessert is unbelievably, good. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is great. The view of the lake really makes for a great dining experience. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. Went there last night for a drink at the bar and had to go back tonight for dinner. The place itself is so nice and the food is amazing. Such a cool patio overlooking the beach and the service was great.

We have been waiting for months to get into this gorgeous venue. Finally, we succeeded! I booked a table for my husband and myself for a 7:00 seating. Despite not being allowed to sit upstairs (even after requesting this in our booking) we were very happy with the gorgeous space downstairs. Soon after being seated, the menus were placed in front of us, but to say that our choices were sparse would be a grave understatement. Four of the seven entrees were slashed, and we were informed by the server that one of the choices of the flatbreads was also unavailable. Essentially our choices were olives or wings and an array of 14 dollar cocktails. We ended up walking out without ordering. I appreciate the times we are in and the difficulties facing the restaurant industry; however, I feel that, upon reservation, we should have been informed of the drastic limitation in menu choices. After our disappointment we found it difficult to find an alternative venue for our special evening.

I finally got to try Elma and it didn’t disappoint . We got seated at a beautiful table on the patio. The cocktails were amazing. Then another one whilst part of the conversation suddenly says no more walk ins a full min later since they anticipate guests soon. I walk by literally 1 hour later after eating elsewhere to find it just as empty as before !

Amazing atmosphere, nice cocktails. The modern luxurious restaurant design and great service really kept my hopes up very high. I've never experienced this at other Turkish restaurants in BC. But then as the food came, we became mildly disappointed. Some dishes could have been better and more traditionally made but overall was okay. I like different flairs to recipes but I felt it was a bit too much. I commented negatively about a dish to the waiter but no chef or manager came out. Not sure if they got my comment about the meatballs lacking salt. I didn't mention this but it was also very dry with no fat and lacking any flavor inside. Literally tasted like pure lean ground beef...maybe it wasn't mixed right. I would stick to their flatbreads which are great. Roasted eggplant was okay but too bold as it is mixed with hummus. Tastes okay but there are too many flavours going on in there. That denies you the chance to appreciate the hummus or roasted eggplant to the fullest. Flatbread with goat cheese and leak was delicious and a nice twist on a traditional onion pide/flatbread. If you want to be successful as a restaurant you need to open up to comments and criticisms from your guests, especially when things go wrong. If I had a longer stay in Penticton I don't think I would come here more than once.

After watching this restaurant go up for a year we finally tried it. It was a limited menu, expensive for small portions and very loud inside. Drinks were 11$ for a vodka 9$ for a micro brew can of pale ale! Have to say the food was tasty but went away hungry and feeling not good value for the money.

MIxed emotions on this restaturant, hostess and waitress serving us was exceptional. Bartenders cocktails were perfect. However, Turkish food has a staple and it is bread. The kitchen was out of flat bread at 830 PM so no main courses from the oven were avaiable. It's kind of like going to watch a hockey game and there are no hockey players availble to play... Forced to eat appitizers for dinner, they were brutally slow to arrive and average at best. When asked for a few more slices of cut bread for our hummus, they kitchen said no and offered us cut cucumbers, when asked for a small amount of more Hummus to finish our cucumbers the kitchen said no and told us to order a another full plate (with no bread). Not going back and not reccomending this establishment. I dont think it matters though, with arrogant kitchen and management staff like this, they wont make it anyways.

I can’t believe such an amazing restaurant is hidden all the way in penticton! If I lived there I would be a regular for sure! The lamb burgers are to die for! I took one bite and I told my husband, we are ordering these burgers every day until we leave! The flat breads were also amazing! Plus the staff were so sweet, our server told us the story of the owners and they seem like such a interesting sweet family! And despite being so amazing, it’s not too busy! I believe the server said the restaurant is only a couple years old.

We finally got out to Elma with friends and on a cold Wednesday in November the place was full. Elma is stylish and beautifully decorated. Tables, lighting, layout and check the floors which are authentic wonderful encaustic tiles. Dishes are incredible with combinations of flavors that will make you want more. Four of us shared several plates and the only disappointment was having to leave when every last morsel of food was gone. Elma is a special place to indulge in wonderful food.

I don't understand how you get to a table in this restaurant. We have tried twice now to get in, waited inside the entrance at the sign that asks you to please wait to be seated and after 2 -3 minutes of no one coming to seat us, we have given up. In fairness, there were 3 tables seated inside the restaurant so perhaps that the capacity. As an owner of an airbnb property, my guests ask for restaurant recommendations and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this one. But, when you visit the restaurant next door, they also ask you to wait to be seated and greet you within seconds to let you know how long of a wait it is to get a table. Personally, I prefer that idea. Maybe that is why the restaurant next door was packed when Elma 3 tables.

The food was delicious, wine selections good, we ordered an assortment of meat and cheese pide, appetizers and deserts. All were excellent. It is a Turkish fusion theme, with an absolutely stunning space. We will be back, as we enjoyed the food and the ambience including a stunning lake view.

I would describe the mood at Elma in penticton as chill and relaxed. The Turkish inspired menu is a nice, refreshing and unique vibe for the long beach section of penticton. Our waiter Mike was friendly , accommodating and not overbearing; however he was quick with the service being there almost intuitively. Just as I was thinking about a refill or desert he appeared.Great service. General summary, im very surprised that elma was almost empty as Salty's had a wait list, based on our experience I would have expected more people to be there.
