We went in last night, a thin older caucasian woman came out, did not greet us just stood at the cash register. I asked her if there were any samosas left and she said there were but that she was closing 'her' kitchen in 5 minutes. We didn't order anything, said thanks and walked out because she was disinterested and rude. We love Indian/Sri Lankan food and we thought it might be authentic but one look at her and we weren't sure what were going to get except a bad attitude. We ended up at the Fort Knox Island Grill where we were pleasantly greeted by a very friendly young man! How hard is it to greet your customers with a friendly 'hello, welcome, how can I help you?' The food at Fort Knox Island Grill was delicious and fresh. It was our first experience with jerk chicken and we will definitely be going back there (my mom lives up here and we are here regularly) and will have to get our Indian food back home.

The place is very simple. Chicken tikka masala curry was really good though. Prices seem a little unreasonable, higher than in this kind of restaurants in, say, Toronto.

Absolutely disgusted from my visit here. We came here with the reputation of parry sounds best fish and chip place to have a 180 degree experience. After 45 minutes of watching patrons coming in and out, picking up their order which was respectfully called ahead however we also noticed tables being served before us. Finally she asked us what we ordered again and within minutes our food was brought out cold, over cooked and fish was slimey. I asked her if there was anything she can do because we did not eat our meals due to the quality and she refused, said the cook was in training and he didn’t know what he was doing. She also checked the garbage for our consumption, came back and said we ate enough for 2 plates so she will refund one. The chef was the one to apologize to me and if he is in training, it is not this poor lads fault he doesn’t have a reliable trainer. I told her I appreciate the refund however I wish it wouldn’t of been so difficult for a customer to come in, pay for 3 meals and due to employee mistakes, be forced with a unsatisfied experience. I hope this shop changes it’s ways to bring back the reputation it had because by the way that went, good luck. I told local family and they were shocked at the results.

Didn't have the fish and chips but the Indian food was great! Not too spicey, but there is definitely some kick to the chicken tikka masala and the chickpea chana masala. Samosas were also tssty. Would recommend this place for Indian food.

I am a local and decided to give it a try. I found the staff behind the counter rude and ignorant. I had my mother with me who used a Walker and we proceeded to sit at a clean table that didn't have a sign. We were abruptly told it was taken no excuse me or I am sorry...Just a loud That table is taken. Still we were going to give it a chance till we asked about the chicken curry and if it came with any sides. The staff had no idea and didn't seem to know the menu they were serving. When our question was answered it was 5 pieces of chicken in curry sauce only for 15.99 no sides we decided to leave. I will not go back to this establishment.

Horrible service. Not at all recommended. Not at all… Even 1 star is too much. - none of the food taste ok. No salt in any fish or in chips. -SUPER greasy food - food quantity is too small compare to price - the lady was too rude and we saw behaving really bad with another customer just because he asked to few more vinegars! -there was no soap in the washroom so we informed the lady and she said she’s too busy and can’t refill. Later she checked for the soap and didn’t refill. Probably they don’t keep soap in stock. - stomach got sick after the meal. There are more negatives. List will be long.

While visiting I came with a friend to try their fish and chips. When I asked for two cups of water with our meal the cashier looked at me like we were crazy saying “oh no, we can’t serve you water from the kitchen”. We immediately walked out. Pathetic, and frankly, border line criminals.

Fish super greasy. Fries were pretty bland. More importantly I was not impressed with health and safety standards shown here. Person taking your order is also the same person who makes your food. Which during Covid is understandable and we have all become patient knowing staffing shortage. But this person did not wash their hands ( may I add had super long gross fingernails). Than proceeded to grab the fish, batter and fry with the hands. No gloves, no hands washed. And as they cooked, chose to move their face mask down in the kitchen probably assuming we couldn't see? It was clearly not busy there, so no reason to rush and not wear gloves or wash hands? I want to support local, but basic health policies need to be in place, even not in a pandemic. I wanted my money back and wanted to cancel my order right there, but my parents visit here often and didn't want to upset them.

My family has sensitivities both gluten and lactose. Usually going to a place that serves East Indian food is safe for us. The lady on the till wasn't clear on what ingredients were in their food. She was willing to go check but it didn't leave me much confidence. The food was great we didn't have any stomach issues with the family. My other constructive criticism for a restaurant they should have much better covid and masking protocols in place.

The food taste good. I'm skeptical about how sanitary the kitchen is. I watched the lady that took my order scoop coleslaw into the container with her fingers. Good thing I don't like coleslaw. Also for spending almost $20 on curry they could have at had it come with rice or pasta. Will not go back. Would not recommend.

We had a pleasant lunch today at this Fish and Chips and Indian food restaurant in downtown Parry Sound. The haddock and chips were tasty and plentiful, the hamburger was "solid" though somewhat lacking in toppings, and the samosas were flavourful and well cooked. The staff were helpful and friendly. We'd recommend it!

The fish and chips were good but the service was terrible. The first time we ordered the lady was very rude and aggressive… thought she was having a bad day. Food was good so we ordered it again and the same lady was even worse. Messed up our order and blamed us. She also forgot our coleslaw which she said was in the bags. But we couldn’t check because she got upset when we went to double check our order. Left with a bad experience all because of really bad service.

We picked up fish and chips for six. The food was fresh and good. Would recommend arriving at least 25 minutes before closing, as we cut it a bit close and were fortunate the staff were willing to stay a bit late to get our order out.

Terrible service. I was excited to try some Indian cuisine, but the service was just terrible. The dine in weren't properly organized and there was cleaning going around me. It was hilarious. THE QUANTITY of the Food was too low compared with the price of food they charge. I should have gone to some other place instead of stopping by here.! They post that they are open to 6:30 on Saturday night. We arrived at 6:00 and they told us that they were closed. Parry Sound is a very busy place in the summer so closing a restaurant early on Saturday seems strange. We told them they have 6:30 posted so they said they would do take out for us. The fish was okay the fries and onion rings were soggy. During the 20 minutes we waited at least 10 people came for dinner to find a locked door. We have a cottage in the area and heard adds on the radio and thought we would give it a try. Why spend money on advertising and close just when people are going out for dinner.

Stopped here for lunch while in Parry Sound. What a little hidden gem. Had the lickeral.and chips. Meal was fresh and you got a big portion for a small price. Definitely saved for the next time I'm in town.
