Cosy, romantic restaurant in downtown Ottawa. The server was attentive and accommodating. I don’t understand why they gave us so much butter though. Also the carbonara’s sauce had a strong, nutty taste which was too strange for me... but I will come back to try more dishes.

We went for a group lunch, after the noon hour rush, and the service was very good for a crowd of 35. The food was hot, and we all received our plates almost at the same time; good job in the kitchen! Only hiccup was billing which had 2 errors, which they refused to acknowledge and fix; so 2 of us ended paying 10% more to get out of there and get back to work.

This place serves up classic north american style Italian cuisine. The food itself is okay but everything is overpriced. The atmosphere here is a bit stuffy and the restaurant itself feels the slightest bit dingy. There are a lot of better options in Ottawa if you're looking for a fancy Italian meal within the price range of this place- even within walking distance!

I had walked by this restaurant a thousand times and always stayed away because of the red neon lights and that it titles itself as "Upscale" - if you have to put it in the name, you know it cant be true. I went with girlfriends and had a pleasant time. Drinks, wine, service and food was fast and delicious. A bit unsure about the gender diversity as there appeared to be only males employed. The menu physically disappointed as it was laminated and really only had 2 pages of pasta dishes. I dont eat pasta so it left me with limited options, however I still enjoyed my dish - just a slight caution if you dont feel like pasta. Overall cute and engaging server - they just need to up their outter appearance a bit

Great Service & Good quality! I went to celebrate my partner's birthday at Tosca and it was very romantic with a nice window table. It was snowing and the scenery is good. The service was quick and efficient and I had a wonderful white wine from New Zealand and went good with the pasta I had. I found the organization a little off, due to having two different servers. Very nice and professional staff. I will go back for sure for a nice romantic dinner!

Having worked in LEL for a few years, almost every "going away" party was held at Tosca, so I've been here a lot. The food is okay, but not really any better than its suburban counterparts, nor is it as good as the food you can find in Little Italy. Considering it is priced as a Little Italy restaurant ($15-$20 dishes) I would have expected more. The service staff is fine, not good, not bad.

Meal was fast, servers were polite and attentive, atmosphere was nice, food was tasty if not impressive. For a moderately upscale place, it serves dried parmesan and pepper was moderately bland. Nothing at all wrong with the place just nothing to write home about. Chicken portion in the meal was decent sized, but bland.

Excellent italian restaurant. I had the bruschetta to begin, served on fresh bread. It tasted great with the parmesan. We then had a delicious red wine to accompany our meal. The main course, Risotto, was great as well. All the ingredients were fresh, starting with the bread. As for service, the waitress checked in regularly, and we ate fairly quickly after ordering.

As someone with a lot of food allergies, I often have a really hard time eating out. At best, most restaurants offer me a salad. I'd written Tosca off because its an italian restaurant and I have allergies to both garlic and gluten - I thought I'd never in a millions years find something to eat there. I advised them of my allergies when I made the reservation, and braced myself for whatever quasi-dinner I was going to have. I gave the waitress my list of allergies and asked her to check with the kitchen what I could and could not eat on the menu. Much to my delight, she said the only things off limits were the pizzas (they have no gluten-free crust), and any of the pre-breaded meats. I've never had so much choice in my LIFE! I had the penne al salmon (with corn penne), and it was delicious! I'd recommend Tosca to anyone with dietary restrictions (especially celiac).

High prices for frozen food... I took the seafood salad and it was absolutely tasteless. I don't mind paying the price when I go to the restaurant, but only if it involves a minimum quality and preparation..which in this case does not. The 2 points are for the mona atinna pizza which was good.

Tosca is a hidden gem in Ottawa. Due to their location, I suspect most of their traffic is from business lunches, but it’s definitely worthy of your personal lunch/dinner plans. The prices are in the higher range, but fair for the quality and portion size. The food is top notch and the staff are excellent. It’s an upscale atmosphere, but they’re so welcoming there that I feel just as comfortable wearing jeans as a dress. Get the linguine al pescatore!

We had an awesome experience at Tosca! The staff were welcoming, attentive and very personable. We totally enjoyed the mussels, the sauce they were cooked in was too good to be left behind so we dipped our bread in it. Our main course was delicious and was complemented wonderfully by a glass of red wine. Thank you Tosca, we will definitely be back.

Had pizza from there last week, the 4 cheese which was fantastic, but earlier tonight my father and I went there to try some dishes and it was all delicious. We had bruschetta which was fresh, then I had the Linguine Al Pescatore which was absolutely amazing with my only complaint being a need for more pasta in the dish but with the times I understand, the taste of the dish as well as amount of seafood was still incredible. Will return in the future!

This is a really nice place with good, but fairly predictable Italian food; it's moderately fancy without being pretentious. I was there with friends, but I feel that it might be a nice place for a date. My only critical feedback would be that the bread they brought out before the meal with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was quite dry and rock hard.

We are regulars. Love Tosca. Great service. Good wine selection. Very busy at lunch time so best to reserve. I often go with a veal piccata dish and have never been disappointed. Pastas are also fab especially the gorgonzola! Bruschetta to die for! Great coffee and liqueurs.

Middle of the road expensive pasta. How can an "Italian" restaurant not have one dish that features mushrooms? And no Octopus???? On the positive side the service for a large party was well handled. Wait staff was attentive and plates came out together and in reasonable time.

The last time I came which was early on in the pandemic months and months ago hardly anyone was in the restaurant seated and the food was tasty. However this time I would have rated it higher unfortunately I can’t. First I made a reservation on OpenTable for 5pm for my best friend and I. As soon as I made it I received a phone call they said for me to call them back which I did and the lady tells me they have a lot of reservations and something about 7pm. So I took that as a cancellation and to come at 7pm. My friend and I showed up at 7pm and they then ask for my name and I tell them. And they tried to tell me I didn’t have a reservation. Mean while I had booked it. Why on earth call the customer to tell them they have a lot of reservations. Also why not explain things better. And I also had no intention of staying for hours to eat dinner. I also want to clearly state. They were packed and I mean there was no table that wasn’t empty it’s like there wasn’t even a pandemic going on. I would have thought they would have had less tables but nope super packed. And then they were adding tables to other tables for groups. Which to be honest my anxiety level was going up because I was feeling a little overwhelmed. Honestly I can’t say I'll be going back there any time soon. If anything avoid going in and just do take out. I sure hope nobody in the restaurant has Covid because if so it’s gonna suck big time!!!. It was packed zero distance between tables not even 6 feet apart!!! Good work Tosca!!! Well Done!!!????????????????????????

Service was excellent but the restaurant wasn't very crouded : it was on a sunday evening. I had the tortellini gorgonzola (suggested by our waiter) and it was fabulous. I ate the whole thing! (I'm a light eater) We had a half bottle of zinfandel red wine and it was a little warm for my taste... so we asked to get a bucket of ice to cool it down a little. All in all, it was great. I recommend it!

Was disappointed in the New Year's first seating offering. They only had a few options available, one of which was the stuffed chicken. Normally they are $25 on the regular menu, but for New Years they jacked it to $40 a plate - and it was not very filing, left hungry. Service was a bit off too, not as welcoming as other places, and the waitress seemed displeased we wanted a cocktail menu instead of buying a bottle of wine, and did not like we shared a salad to start. First trip here for Valentines a few years ago was very nice but New Years was not a memorable experience and was too expensive ($140 with tax and tip) to leave hungry still.

Went out to Dinner during the high of the COVID-19 restrictions, Decided on going to Tosca, they had recently received unwarranted press coverage!!! Omgoodness, the place was spotless, protocol and safety was followed from sign-in right to our table and through out the time we were there. The food was excellent, the service was top-notch. For me, Tosco Restaurant was very enjoyable and i am a very picky person when it comes to food, service and place in general. Rosa and i are looking forward to revisiting, 1st class restaurant all around!!!Salut

This Italian restaurant was a pleasant surprise! We were quite surprised at how empty the restaurant was midday on a weekday, but the dishes we ordered were great. Our dishes were very tasty and came out quickly. The ambiance within the rest was quite modern and comfortable, with a clean dining room and restrooms. Our waiter was quite friendly as well. My only disappointment was that the pasta used for their dishes is predominantly dried pasta and not fresh, in house made pasta.

Went for anniversary dinner Saturday night. They ran out of ginger ale, the bread could of been fresher. Main courses were good (steak and tuna) but could of had more potatoes (3 pieces). Overall for the price, the keg has better quality and bigger portions.

So i never review anything but this really warrants a review. Staff was absolutely incredible. High marks for Brad who servers our family with grace, humor and elegance. The calamari is simply the best and the rack of lamb is well with the price. No skimping on the portion size and grilled to perfection. We'll certainly be returning here as its my favorite restaurant in Ottawa.

The grilled calamari in the chili sauce was a huge disappointment for me tonight. The restaurant is cosy and beautiful, service is great but I was so disappointed with my food. I was expecting a truly grilled calamari with grill marks and the tubes would be open in a sheet like drizzled with olive oil and lemon and the chili would be rubbed in or just cooked with it. The tubes were so huge and unappetizing, just big blobs in a heavy tomato sauce with chili. Prosecco had zero flavour. I always loved Tosca but my food wasn't good tonight. Tiramisu was delicious.

Great simple Italian place. Nothing too fancy if you're looking for a place for family or picky eaters. Staff are friendly and attentive. The Carbonara is still the best in Ottawa despite the numerous upscale restaurants in the area. Definitely recommend a visit.

Not to mention he made the bus boy serve us for most of our time anyway (it was not busy at all - only two other tables). The service was great, the atmosphere is beautiful. The bruschetta appetizer and the figs and prosciutto were both worth going for, and the beer and wine lists were great. They brought out bread with olive oil, olives, and peppers before the meal - all delicious. It's a shame that their main courses are just okay. The Penne Fortunata (sp?) was fine, but the italian sausage had the texture of a processed grocery store sausage and the surface was completely smooth. Other members in our party tried the chicken parmigiana and the steak, and both reported tough meat. I'd consider giving them another shot, but I hope we were just there on an off night.

Tonight we had booked our table for 9:30pm for Valentine's Day dinner. foods tasted good, but the service wasn't good at all ! we had to wait so long for a server to come and take our order. We ordered dessert and we had to wait more than 15 minutes, the waiters were just in rush to clean other tables ! for Valentine's Day, they gave flower to the customers after paying their bill. but none of the waiters cared that we are seating there or even after paying the bill they gave flower. Totally disappointed.

The veal parmigiana was a factory made restructured breaded meat product instead of a real piece of veal. The chicken noci was served with an overpoweringly salty mushroom gravy that looked and tasted like it came from a package. This was the type of food that one would expect to find in a hospital or college cafeteria, not in an upscale establishment that charges upscale prices. There was no soap in the women's washroom when we arrived and the staff were made aware of this. When we departed more than an hour later the soap had still not been replenished. This was an excellent restaurant long ago, when in their previous location, but sadly the quality has deteriorated over the years. There are much better quality Italian restaurants with similar prices in the vicinity so we won't be returning to Tosca.

This is a sad very sad disappointment for Italian food. Let me start off by saying service was absolutely horrible. They had 3 servers for the entire restaurants and that is including the manager in fact I don't think there was a manager because when I went up to ask for a manager the guy who said give me a minute 3 times said "I guess that's me". The waitress took about 30 minutes to bring us water with a huge attitude and then did not ask us if we wanted anything else to drink. Then she disappeared we had to ask someone where she was because we had been sitting for 45 minutes before she even came back to take our order and then took our order and walked away. We had to tell someone else to have her bring bread, the person dropped off bread that was stale and rubbery. Then after she took the order the so called manager came up to me speaking Arabic trying to apologize but didn't really apologize he was trying to explain how Sunday's are normally very slow and that they got all these tables out of no where. I guess by him talking to me in the language that he assumed I knew only because of my looks they thought it was going to make up for the lack of service and the attitude of the waitress. If it really was the issue with getting a huge rush all the waitress had to do was say hey sorry we are really busy I'll get with you in a little bit that didn't happen she refused to talk to us gave us all an attitude for no apparent reason. NOW let me get to the food, I ordered a salad, 1 it was warm not cold but warm salad should be cold, 2 it didn't have any dressing on it, 3 the lettuce was not cut it was huge leaves. Thence had to tell someone that it was ok to have her being the entrees out if we didn't tell them we would have been waiting forever I ordered the tasco fettuccine and it was disgusting I ordered it with chicken and it had absolutely no flavor what so ever, no taste, it was supposed to have garlic and basil which to me is called pesto however it was more like just a tiny bit of garlic and parsley didn't taste like anything but plain fettuccine pasta. I couldn't tell anyone about the food since they dropped the food off and never saw her or anyone else again. This is a disgrace to Italian food and a disgrace to the restaurant industry!!

Went the for a retirement luncheon of 25-30 people. We took about 1/3 of the restaurant. But rest of place was probably only 3/4 full. The food was good. Service was good (prompt... timely). They took care of a cake we brought (cutting and serving). Couldn't ask for more. Very pleasant experience. So ill give 5 stars with the following caveat... Place is popular because it is so good. Been there before when they were very very busy with a small 4person group and that time felt very cramped crowded and rushed and the service was stretched a bit thin.

The Chicken Parmigiana was without a doubt one of the best I’ve ever had! The authentic, in-house tomato sauce on the Parmigiana and the beef in the Cannelloni were definitely the stars of the evening. ???? Good work and thank you to all the staff Do you like Pasta? The biggest issue I have with Tosca is food consistentency. I have had pizza during the lunch rush at least 6 times over the past 3 months and I have to say it's hit or miss. On a good day you'll be treated to a circle of delicious crispiness covered with the perfect balance of toppings. Other times you'll swear your half drunk roommate (who probably refers to himself as k-dog) heated leftovers over a radiator while slamming your pbr's. Ok, maybe that is a stretch but charging $15 to $20 for a thin crust margarita pizza then providing sauced, slightly cheesed bread is kind of anti-climatic. The second issue is wait times during lunch. I understand that this is a peak time but it has never taken less than 45 to 60 minutes to get food regardless of how busy the restaurant is. All in all Tosca is a decently nice place that while having a slightly overpriced lunch menu can impress if given the chance. It really just comes down to whether you feel lucky.... well do you punk?

If you want wine by the glass that has soured because the bottle was opened days ago, and if you want unripened tomatoes in your caprese salad, this is the place for you. If you want overcooked pasta, bingo! If you want uninspired manicotti, jackpot! This place is way overpriced. Really. $122 for two people for food that is one step above a cafeteria.

Food was very good. Given bread and olives to start. I ordered shrimp as an appetizer and chicken pasta as a main - very delicious and highly recommended. Paired it with a glass of red wine which was also a good choice. Good atmosphere. Saw a few families there with teens so clearly good for the family (although wouldn't necessarily recommend small kids). I only gave it three stars as the Male waiter wasn't the best host. He made no attempt at conversation other than to ask for my order and rushed off as quickly as possible (by contrast, the female waitress was very friendly to the tables she served and made them feel more at ease). Would go back there but would hope to get a better service.

I had the displeasure of visiting Tosca and despite the mediocre and overpriced food, we stayed and finished our meal because of our kind server Brad. However, in adjunction to the underwhelming food, the whole visit was completely ruined when I overheard the man who I came to find out was the owner (franconoto or something) talking about not only the guests but his employees too! He was using demeaning language to describe women and men that I will not even repeat because it was so vulgar and low class. Even if the food had been amazing (which is definitely was not) I would still not go back because a business owner of such sorts certainly does not deserve any support from the community. Shame on him.

after a lovely day by the coast myself and my companion went for what we hoped would be a nice end to the day by having dinner here, oh boy were we mistaken. after arriving we had to wait what seemed like an age to have our drink order taken, after three other tables were seated served drinks and there food order taken we still had yet to receive our drinks. I would like to point out that yes it was a sun night, half the restaurant was closed with the lights out and by no means full. When we were eventually served our food, after having to call over a waiter we were served with quite frankly rubbish sub standard food. The food was all cold in the centre i.e. the arancini, the lasagne, my companions food the sea food pasta after been recommended by who later turned out to be the manager was very soggy and when mentioned this to the said manager while paying the bill his reply was "our pasta does not come al dente".............. After paying the bill I mentioned to the said manager that I we had to wait a long time to be served, i had yet to mention anything thing about the rubbish food but was met with over defence aggressive manager who instead of trying to appease me the customer who had payed the bill in full was met with the MANAGER raising his voice to me and drawing attention to me and my friend which i found really embarrassing and some what humiliating i would never go back here I would strongly recommend that you don't waste your hard earned cash on this place when the manager of this establishment has no clue about how to converse in a civil tongue or show any respect to the customer

BOYCOTT TOSCA Enormous violation of Covid laws. They held a party after hours with over 70 people there, serving drinks past the permitted hours. They locked the doors to stop police from coming in. Even during regular hours, their restaurant is PACKED. If anyone there has covid, you'll be so close to them you're guaranteed to get it. GROSS. Do you really want to get sick for inauthentic overpriced Italian food??

I've been for lunch a few times and the specials are good but tend to omit some basics like dishes without a meat option. There's not a lot of options like this in the area so i would recommend.

First time visiting Tosca with my daughter who is attending Carleton University...it was outstanding. Can't believe how reasonable the prices were and the food was excellent. Coming from Toronto I had to ask our server if the prices were correct...we visited on Sunday for dinner so it was more quiet but we are going back next weekend which is the long weekend and if anything changes I will let you know. My only disappointment was that there was no way we could enjoy dessert after the wonderful appetizers and entrees...simply no room. Since we will be in Ottawa more often I know Tosca will be on our must visit places. Thank you, it was simply great...and what a wonderful memory with my daughter.

Xmas Lunch dinners make sure to check your bill and what is written on the menu. I was not served what was described on the menu. I ordered the antipasto platter and it arrived with just the meats and cheeses without the marinated vegetables. The server said it was a mistake on the printed menu but since I mentioned that it she would have the vegetables added. When the bill arrived my platter had jumped up in price also from the menu pricing. None of this was indicated when I placed my order. The server changed the price since I mentioned it. Two stars since the server was not apologetic, yet polite.

We ordered calamari fritti which was very expensive ($20) and it tasted beyond bland - breading was moist and sauce wasn’t good. The pizzas were ok but the mojito drink my girlfriend ordered also wasn’t good at all. Quite disappointed given the high prices and the fact that we’ve been there many times before and it was much more enjoyable. Hope it was just a one-off experience.

We came here on a Friday for an early dinner and the service was incredibly fast! Our food arrived very quickly after we ordered. My friend really enjoyed the fettuccine Tosca with shrimp. I thought my spaghetti bolognese was good, but the noodles were a bit overcooked. Prices are around $20 for a plate of pasta.

While the shiraz was very nice complementing tasty deserts my chickem parmagane was shoeleather disguised as a chicken cutlet and the side pasta reminded me of chef boyardee. Thankfuly my companion was not hungry and enjoyed her desert. Service was adequet.

Though everyone in our group ordered a different dish, the waiter recommended the same wine. I had the gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce. Nothing special in taste or presentation which makes me feel like my money would be better spent somewhere else. The venue is decent with dark decor and dim lighting, but again, nothing special. It was at least clean. Plenty of pasta joints in Ottawa to try. I would skip this one.

Went sat night place was packed. Our reserved table wasn’t ready on arrival had to wait 10-15 mins at bar (no biggie) waiter very pleasant but completely run off his feet. Our drinks sat empty for quite some time and wern’t brought bread until after app had arrived. My husband thought his tosca fettuccini with chicken was “alright” small portion though. My veal with fettuccini and shrimp cognac was unusually salty.

I really enjoyed this restaurant! The service was prompt and friendly without being intrusive. The salad was fresh and crispy. The sun-dried tomatoes in my pasta dish were to die for! I dropped one star only because I didn’t care for the layout. Some of the tables seemed a bit crowded or ill-placed. I would recommend making reservations, especially on a Friday or Saturday night as it gets quite busy.

It's a romantic place but I regret that almost nothing is handmade, sometimes it tasted like too industrial food. The service is nice but I should have asked water and they brought the wine directly in a caraf so impossible to check the wine. I recognized that it was the good one. The really good point is the fact they brought some bread like a real European restaurant.

Excellent food, great ambiance, although the group sitting behind were obnoxiously loud; ordered bruschetta, zucchini fritti, caprese for starters, couple of pizza's, manicoti, fettucini with grilled vegetables in a rose sauce (not on menu, but they accommodated) and finally a molten chocolate cake. The food was great, however, the bread served was cold and not the best I've had. The dessert was also just OK. Overall, we enjoyed the food and I would definitely recommend a visit to Tosca for some fine Italian dining, if you are in Ottawa...

This was such a good food experience for us!! Zou was our waiter and he went out of his way to make it a great experience. We were fasting and while we didn’t mention it, he made sure to time certain orders so that we would get portions of our meal quicker. He checked in several times and worked with us to customize our orders the way we liked, while also making amazing recommendations. I would definitely recommend this place to others!! The food was wonderful and we left very satisfied. Also shout out to Brad for helping us out over the phone!

If you want Italian around downtown Ottawa, it's a good spot within walking distance of most hotels. The food was good but not great. We choose the salmon and sole filet and the cheese and charcuterie platter. Overall you can pick from pizzas salads to pasta so there is a great variety and good quality for the price you pay.

Reserved a table for 2 people a week ahead of time at 7:30pm on a Friday evening. I had asked for a window seat, they said they couldn’t promise a window seat because they are busy, completely understandable. Upon arrival at 7:30pm the restaurent was not very busy many tables were clean and ready. They proceeded to seat us on a small table between booths (literally a traffic lane of people and waiters walking up and down between the booths). I obviously refused the seat because I could see other better tables, I asked the waiter can we please sit at a better table I did reserve ahead of time, the waiter told me that those tables were reserved...... but I called and reserved aswell? I wasn’t priority to them for some unknown reason, the next table we were seated on was the last table beside the kitchen door... anyways I stood up and left did not get a chance to eat their food sorry to say the staff was totally Unprofessional. Giovani's was a better experience.
