Honestly I don't write reviews, but this place was pretty awful. Many things went wrong, such as not even having our order when we walked in. Then, they gave us an uncooked brownie (literally liquid when you picked it up). There was also another person in there who needed their brownie remade at the same time because it was also liquid. We ordered the date night and it was not worth the money at all. The only thing that tasted good were the Trini doubles. The store was kind enough to offer a slight discount for not having our order (which we tipped most of back), but the braised pork belly was also inedible as it had a strong odour. Pana cotta also tasted like activia. I wrote this review to just let people know that the reviews are kind of biased compared to the quality of the product offered so people don't waste their hard earned money, but now based off the owner's review you can see that they probably just bully people into deleting the lower reviews lol

I sure miss being able to go to the Belmont, but fortunately I can get some tasty takeout to comfort me in the meantime. The tartare remains terrific, the deviled eggs delightful, and the pork belly so perfect that my wife has to fight me to get any. Really looking forward to sitting at the bar and chatting with the lovely staff again soon.

My fiancé and I went for brunch and both ordered the skillet, which had roasted potatoes and veggies. The potatoes were undercooked and there were hardly any potatoes. They also only serve drip coffee, which was disappointing.

Fantastic experience. Small place with great service. Good beer, cider and cocktail selection. Bullet Bill is a very nice cocktail for those that like bourbon. Famous Trini Doubles were incredible (both classic and pork), great blend of flavours and textures. The pork dumplings were good. The Haitian Griot was delicious and enough to share. For dessert, the Dutch Bread was a perfect end to the meal.

Lucky enough to have won a free meal here so got to try a bunch of dishes. Everything was amazing! My favourite was the "Pork the one you love". The owner is super friendly and wants to make sure you have the most enjoyable meal possible. Small but very cozy spot. Can't wait to go back!

The flavours this place produces are quite remarkable. I can’t recommend the sausage and pork belly enough. Trini Doubles are quite good(get em spicy), make sure to add the pork. The spicy sauce that they put on is a perfect balance of mild heat and sweetness, all flavour with nothing overpowering. The sausage makes for a great addition to any dish to any dish. If you get the skillet you might want to add an extra serving of the pork belly.

Very unsuspecting high level restaurant. Went here before a show at the Mayfair and was extremely surprised by the quality of food. Tried the Belmont on a recommendation so had no idea what to expect. Don’t go here expecting to get stuffed but if you want unique flavors to share with your friends or SO come here. Unfortunately, the owner does not seem to return phone calls. This person seems to pick and choose who they will return messages to. This makes it incredibly difficult to ask questions. They dont seem to care for the public which is odd because they are in the service industry. It should not matter what the questions may be. It should always be important to return your phone calls. All potential clients should matter. It seems they dont.

In short: an awkward dining experience. A member of my party had made a reservation three weeks earlier for four. We were there celebrating a birthday of which the restaurant was aware. My wife and I entered the restaurant on-time and stated that we had a 5:45pm reservation for four under the name of my friend. The restaurant was not busy, there was one other table occupied. The server that greeted us did not check any kind of reservation book and told us to sit anywhere with two chairs. We said that it was actually a reservation for four and the server promptly guided us to a table with four chairs. Not five minutes after (still on-time), the other two people in our party arrived and they too stated that they had a reservation under the same name. Again, the server did not check any reservation book and somehow did not clue in that they were part of our party. Unprofessional, disorganized staff was the first impression. Unfortunately, the first impression held up for the rest of the evening. We started with a 2-meat, 3-cheese charcuterie board. It was presented beautifully with salami, capocollo, aged cheddar, blue cheese, and brie. After we had finished that, the server didn’t come back for ages. After waiting too long, we finally made our entrée orders. We ordered an elk salad dish, an order of jerk chicken, and two orders of chipotle lime pork, in addition to some beef and cabbage dumplings. After we placed our order, the server explained that the restaurant does not try to have a table’s food come out at the same time, and that food comes out as it’s ready. We were fine with that idea. One entrée came out very quickly; however, the other three came out about 45 minutes later. No matter the philosophy on how a restaurant is run, that is way too long for one to wait for food after another has already been served. We noticed that other guests who arrived after us were being served before us. No acknowledgement or apologies for this, by the way. What is worse is that the two people that were served last had to speed eat so that we could make our movie at 7:30. So they could not even take their time to savour and enjoy the food. In the end, Belmont ultimately disappointed and ruined the birthday party we had planned. We arrived at 5:40 and didn’t leave until 7:20pm. One hour and forty minutes. We didn’t make it to our movie and had to get our tickets exchanged for an 11:00pm show. As for the food, my friends enjoyed the chicken and por. I had the elk. The elk was cooked beautifully, nice and tender, not gamey at all, but the rest of the dish—basically a cabbage salad—was absolutely disgusting. It was doused in this awful, vinegary dressing that made me pucker up like a character on a sour candy wrapper. I ended up eating it because I was hungry—anything is palatable when you’re hungry enough, and we had a movie to make—but any other night I would have sent it back. The dumplings were quite ordinary, and I’ve certainly had better, more tasty dumplings at home. And for $12 you only get six dumplings . Now, I realize I am nitpicking here, but when I’m spending $45 per head on food (alcohol not included), I expect service excellence. The Belmont did not deliver the service expected at that price point. I also feel like there is a tension in the atmosphere at The Belmont. The aesthetics, rustic décor, and level of service suggest casual dining, but the restaurant name and pricing suggest finer dining. It can’t decide what it wants to be. Whatever it is, it’s not working for me, and I’m never going back. If you’re looking for a casual dining spot, go to Kettleman’s Bagels, if you’re looking for finer dining, go to The Keg. Those restaurants never disappoint.

Took forever to get our food. Was told it was “like tapas” but took 2 hours just to get our dishes. Missed our movie because of the extraordinary amount of time it took to get served. The sad part is that the food is actually really good. The service was just so below the standard for that price point that I’m not willing to go back. Make sure you have 3 hours to spare when you go and don’t arrive hungry.

My boyfriend and I wandered in on a Thursday at 6 and the restaurant was already full. They squeezed us in between reservations and we had great service. The cocktails were AMAZING! Great food, sharing style. This isn't tapas, as it's not Spanish, but rather an eclectic mix of Asian, Jamaican, haitan, Mediterranean and other cultures. For such a wide mix the kitchen does an amazing job. Cocktails are top notch, and the have an excellent mix of beer on tap.

Just enjoyed their vegetarian dinner for two and was absolutely blown away by not only the food but the drinks and the service! While waiting for our brunch the kitchen made a mistake which caused our dishes to come out at slightly different times. They apologized many times, gave us extra food while we waited and then comped the whole meal. Above and beyond for an understandable mistake. I swear that God has come down to earth and handed me a plate of food through the hands of The Belmont staff. There is much wonderful food there, the Haitian Griot, the Steak Tartare, are some of my experiences and more remain unsampled. BUT... I would not be exaggerating to say that the Goats Cheese Gnudi... is out of body experience territory. When Harry Met Sally diner scene pales in comparison. Yes, I love mushrooms, and cheese, but add a layer of squash, brussel sprouts, and more. It is to die for. It has become hard to leave The Belmont after such food and return to the more mundane ins and outs of daily living, be warned, prospective eaters, this is a risk you take. But knowing that, I went back, and will go again, and again. A wonderful atmosphere, pleasant staff. There is much to love here. You should go. Just leave some gnudi for me. :-)

A friend took me to Belmont saying he really enjoys it. The minute I saw doubles (trinni breakfast/snack) on the menu I got so excited so we both ordered. Let me start by saying all the food we had was amazing and we ordered almost all shareable plates. With that being said, the service was borderline awful. Im hoping the holidays caused them to be short-staffed because one waiter and a bartender for the whole place is not a formula for a good dining experience. We were also not thrilled about the misleading "half off dim sum" special (we went on a Sunday). They give you a menu with the prices already discounted but failed to mention it. Ended up spending almost 50 bucks for two people on dim sum thinking we were getting a deal. Boy was I wrong. Would go back if another couple suggested but won't be returning on my own.

We had a Rideau Pines Feature which was full cauliflower head this was outstanding, also had the Hen half this was normal I knew i should go for something different but played it safe. Spot is small so for conversation might need to sit on table one which is what they gave us originally but its on its own in front of kitchen we opted to sit at the bar then they gave us another table. would go back for sure to try the rest of drinks and menu items. atmosphere is really nice

Bottom line: fantastic!! We had such an amazing experience here for dinner. The servers were so kind and really helped us through ordering. We felt really welcomed in the restaurant. Trini doubles were amazing, the special of the day (roast cauliflower) was so flavorful & the goat cheese gnudi were out of this world. An absolute gem. Staff are fabulous and knowledgeable. The atmosphere can be chill or upbeat depending of the time of day you visit. Their brunch menu is not the usual bacon and eggs but offers a Belmont twist to it, making it actually worth trying (every single item on that menu should be tried!!!) The space is cozy and small so go early to ensure you have space. Sweet spot to rent out for a holiday family or team party.

Why did nobody tell me to go to Belmont before?? You would never see it hidden behind an ordinary violet panel outside. Once in, you could think it's a very local young hipster restaurant. And it is but it's not also. Fresh original cocktails ( great sour!) And so original Asian (and other!) inspired food. And well they made the 2018 Canada????. Obviously. Bravo. Great place. We had the family-style dinner and it was SO. GOOD. Many of the dishes were vegetarian so I appreciated that. I think one course was not veg and I did not get an alternative but I ate so much I didn't care ;)

Tried 3 cocktails and they were all delicious! They are well balanced, consistent and full of flavor. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get a top notch drink. Staff is awesome and super friendly. The price for a drink is about the same as a meal but it is well worth it. Frugal individuals can opt for the beer. The environment is very nice but I'm not a fan of the cluttered walls and dust collecting props around the bar.

My partner and I come here all the time now for date night, Belmont consistently has very good food, very good cocktails and very good service. Highly recommend. Try the Trini doubles!

Ordered one of the Famous Trini Doubles and added slow roasted pork, and the half piri piri chicken with Potatoes and Seasonal veg. Half chicken is definitely plenty for two people! Also really nice that they have a small menu. This is one that we'll recommend for sure.

Food is amazeballs. The service is great but not bilingual. We had a 1yo with us and they had a high chair ready next to our table. Baby friendly ambiance as well. BUT, and i can't but this enough, the coffee *sigh*. And that's why I'm giving this place a 4/5. Everything was great, small menu, good food, good service, but it wouldn't hurt to have the ability to serve more than filtered coffee. Will definitely come back tho.

Nice place, didn't have the carbenet savingnon I wanted, or didn't have a good selection of wine all together.. the Syrah wasn't a match. Kinda overpriced for their tiny drinks... my friend had your "special drink on the night" which was about 2 ounces and a 12$ price tag. Yikes! Tasty tho, but I've been to other places which had bigger and something you'd enjoy for a little longer than 5 minutes. Also, not having an actual drink menu and having to stand up to read the drink menu off the wall was a bit awkward and not appealing. The music was beyond loud and My friend and I had to shout in order to hear each other, actually kinda hurt my eardrums at some points. The menu itself was a bit hard to read and understand what would be on the plate as it is in plain text format that brings no imagination or picture to mind, (just a suggestion). In the other hand, the beef and pork dumplings were very good and the sauce was a great match! The prawns were delicious with the broccoli!! And the food had a reasonable price. I did enjoy your food! I rate this place 3 because; 1) there was no consideration for the people on the tables trying to chat as the music was too loud when I was here. 2)the drink menu on the wall was not reachable, and awkward to be standing up to order... 3) the food menu was hard to understand. 4) pricey tag for small drinks... and very small variety of beer/wine ... I paid 10$ for maybe 5oz of wine? That wasn't even good.. :S... didn't win me on the drinks for sure!

Dropped by for brunch, ate their delicious and flavour-creative Monte Christi sandwich. There aren't that many seats so I recommend reservations. And if you want a quiet place to dine this may not be the place for you. But great vibe and attentive staff.

Went for brunch, all COVID protocols were observed and we felt very safe. I had the Full Belmont for breakfast, every single element of the plate was perfectly seasoned, and it was just a joy. Friendly and helpful service also featured prominently. Highly recommended, will happily go again.

Great food as always! The cauliflower is one of my favorites. The only feedback I have is that I found the sauce for the shrimp turnip cake a little too salty. Other than that, delicious.

As always, the Belmont's ambiance and mood was welcoming and cozy. The evening started with a Gatineau Stroll, which does NOT involve any cardiovascular activity, other than bringing a chilled glass to the lips. The wonderful and tasty variety of the charcuterie board was fresh and local! My main, the always delicious gnudi, was heavenly, pillowy goodness....comfort food at its finest. You can't go wrong at the Belmont... the problem is that EVERYTHING on the menu is mind numbingly astounding! Not only does Adrian and his team serve up delicious food at The Belmont; they always have the perfect mix of ingredients to create memorable evenings. See you soon!

Just one bite of any dish on the Belmont's ever changing menu will have you wanting to shake the hand of the creative genius that put them together. If incredible food isn't enough to have you plotting your next visit before even leaving the place, the quirky and fun loving staff certainly will. The array of antiques and interesting pieces covering the walls are nothing short of charming and the cocktails are to die for. Safe to say I'd recommend the Belmont to anyone looking for an unforgettable culinary experience.

Service and atmoshpere was good but food was underwheling, lacked flavour, sticky rice was cooked with too much water and mushy, basically not worth the higher end price compared to a chinese restaurant - sorry. Really disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it.

Last night my wife and I shared the dinner for two for take out. It did not disappoint. All dishes travelled well and everything was as it should be once we got home (I know I've been concerned about how a meal will travel and hold up for take out when it isn't pizza or Chinese food). All of the flavors were just so balanced and well thought out. I feel grateful to have The Belmont so close to my home (I am new to Old Ottawa South). Thank you for an awesome first meal! We will absolutely be back (hopefully IN your restaurant!)

What an amazing restaurant to eat at!!!!! The service is amazing and the food!!! OH MY TO THE DOUBLE G!!!!!! The Hatian Griot is the best....yes....THE BEST meal I have ever had....I bow down to the chef there!!! The server we had was outstanding...very knowledgable about the food and flavors.... then there is Adrian !! Meeting every person who walked in the door and always with a smile !! And a very infectious laugh!!! 5 stars and I will be going back there!!!!

Prices were quite high for the food/drink received, but the environment and staff made up for it! An excellent indie/industrial atmosphere pairs very will with their offerings. Great spot for a first date if you want to impress.

Such a fantastic brunch spot, great food and surprisingly not busy (considering the quality). Highly recommend (5/5) Dinner was only okay, would go for drinks but the asian-fusion/asian-inspired dishes didn't strike us as being anything other than sub-par copies of the original dim sum dishes. Picked up the snack pack and it was LIGHTS OUT!!! The perogies were incredible! There was no skimping on the bacon and herbed creme fresh and that filling ...omg. The rice dish was definitely my second favorite. The flavor was amazing I could honestly eat it everyday. All in all great presentation and everything was still nice warm by the time I got home ( Conroy area).
