Nowadays this firm has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 and the rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average of ratings that it reaches is almost the top, and it's based on a large number of scores, so we can think that the score is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they are happy with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to place feddbacks when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Restaurant.
I have been going to Teddys on and off for 30 years. I ordered the chicken parm dinner it was not good. Over cooked spaghetti, half of it had no sauce just white noodles. The chicken has too much breading on it now and lacks flavour and again very little sauce. My salad was already turning brown. I also watched a waitress drum her fingers on the cash register, waiting for someone to order. That waitress stopped when the customer stopped ordering and stared at her. I watched another waitress who was taking an order over the phone sighing and rolling her eyes. Perhaps management needs to sit and watch their staff and the quality of the food be served. Very disappointed!
No fast food here. The food is home cooking: fresh salads, turkey dinners you could swear mom made and everything in between. Later, if you have room the desserts are to die for!!! Pies and rice pudding. The waitresses are very professional. Go before you r hungry to avoid lineups. Even the lineups are very well organized. Take your friends they will be amazed. Prices are reasonable. Famiy style restaurant something for everyone. Enjoy.
Not impressed. Heard good things over Facebook so thought we would give them a try. My husband went at 1PM on a Saturday and they didn't even have the smoked meat... Which is the reason why we came in the first place. The portion size was pretty good for the corned beef, however the bread wasn't even toasted. It all just ended up being a soggy mess.
Huge helpings, not super healthy - but great to go there once in a while. The meals are giant. GIANT. Splitting an entree, or deciding up front that you are only eating half of what is served is the way to go. The food options are all comfort food. Lots of gravy, sauces, butter, you name anything that makes you feel full and content and its on the menu. The line moves faster than you'd expect. Serving staff is no-nonsense, but that's part of the charm and part of the reason that they keep the place moving so fast.
Please quit being so stingy with the gravy . Turkeys good but needs sufficient gravy to go with potatoes and stuffing. The little container is a joke . Even throwing half the potatoes out . It isn't enough . Today again I got home to discover they didn't give me extra like I asked for . Yes ur good at making things right after a complaint. But how about assuring it's right the first time . A cup of gravy would b a good start .
Great food large portions friendly staff definitely top of my fast food list
We ordered the burgers and it was okay. For desserts we ordered ice cream and coconut cream pie and it was good. Service was also good and the place atmosphere is also pleasant.
very spacious big tables with very comfy benches fabulous food and great service
Coconut cream pie is phenomenal, chicken parmesan with Spaghetti and Salad was excellent. Great service and friendly and helpful staff.
When you’re craving comfort food, this is the place to go. They’ve got everything from scratch-made soups, loaded meat sandwiches, homemade meals that remind you of Grandma’s house, and fresh pies. Their roast turkey dinner is my favourite when I crave a comforting dish. This restaurant is consistently good all around - taste, quality, speed and efficiency of service, polite staff, menu variety, and restaurant cleanliness.
Best value meal in Durham. Roast beef, Fresh Turkey, freshly sliced deli meat. It’s all good. They’ve got the element of service down to a science. The atmosphere is open yet cozy booths of various sizes predominate. Never had a poor meal or service here. Top marks all around.
Amazing place to eat, every time I go. Before I set foot in the door, I already know I'm going to order the rice pudding for dessert. Today I had the mixed grill (7 oz steak, 7 oz hamburger, 5 oz chicken breast, and peameal bacon slice) with mashed potato, corn, and large dinner roll. Incredible! It's not a fluke that this place has been around for over 40 years!
Enjoyed my sandwich and the dessert was to die for. I’ll be back again!
Very good food and portions at very low prices
Staff was great, decor was cool, seating was comfy, atmosphere was buoyant. Food ranged from mediocre to bad. Ordered the fish and chips. The batter was the worst I've ever had. The salad was drenched in dressing to the point that it was inedible, I offered it to the person I was having the meal with- he also tried to eat it but couldn't because of the dressing. The fries were very yummy. I perhaps will go back and try some other things on the menu. But my guess about this place is that it is not worth the hype.
When giving directions to people around Oshawa the starting point is always from Teddy's....that's how much of a staple this restaurant is. Best food always and always huge portions. Teddy's is the one thing that gives a silver lining to the "Shwa".
We had 4 dinners and 3 out of 4 we're terrible. Service was awesome.. food was terrible. Cooked from frozen was obvious. Price was right I guess. But even at those prices you'd think the food would be better prepared pared. Burnt liver, over breaded sole n burnt. Come on Teddy's....
First time to Teddy’s. I came to order some bowls of soup to take home after being sick for a few days. I sat in and tried their warehouse sandwich which was really filling and tasted so good. I also had a bowl of their chicken vegetable soup and it was really good. The price was also very fair compared to what you get at most restaurants. I highly recommend Teddy’s and I took 4 bowls of soup to go!
Got take out from here having never been here before. It was not disappointing to say the least, food was good and well prepared. The portions were quite large and for the pricing it was more than worth it.
Well this place use to be quite good. Today was a very big disappointment for my family and I. For me.. I ordered the chicken club. Had dry chicken chunks and crumbled bacon. Not very good at all. My daughter had spaghetti.. the brought out pasta with tomato soup mix in it. The biggest disappointment was the desert.. they brought out COSTCO pie slices. Cant miss that pumpkin pie by a mile... really!!! Sorry.. I'm finished with this place
Love this place. It's comparable to deli restaurants found in major cities like Montreal and Toronto. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait to be seated but is one of the few places that I would say is worth waiting for. The service is fast and efficient. The food is ample and exceptional. I'll be going there as often as I can.
Family owned and run restaurant, the staff are amazing and friendly, especially the owners daughters, however I've noticed in the last couple years a more frequent turnover of some of the wait staff. Aside from that the food is great! Love the roast beef, i just wish they still served beets with it though!
This place is awesome! I don't come here too often but I've never been disappointed! I got a coconut cream pie on my birthday and well it was the best one I've ever had! You gotta come here at least once!
We moved out of area in the summer and I really miss this place! Their hot roast beef sandwich covered in gravy is amazing and their strawberry pie is to die for!!! Their house dressing is also amazing and un-beat! I can’t wait until we are in the Oshawa area again and I can get my Teddy’s fix!
Good food and good service. They have a great set up concerning covid protocols. Excellent experience.
Went here on Father's day as he likes the place. I think it was representative of what you would expect at a diner. Busy but we were seated in a reasonable amount of time. Portions are large and I ended up taking half of it home. Wholesome calorie laden food with no surprises. Good milkshakes
The friendly service and the delicious food makes this place a 5 stars
It's been a long time since I've been here. No wonder this place has been around as kong as it has
Poor customer service experience when ordering takeout which seemed to only target me and not the other patrons which left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). EDIT: The cashier (woman) responded in a rude tone when asking about buying turkey slices which was not apparent when she served the customer before and after me.
Excellent food and service
First time with the family. Everything was amazing. Beef vegetable soup was to die for. The roast beef is jus- was amazing. Staff was so attentive. The price was great too. We will be back again.
Very inexpensive for the large sized portion you receive. Service is average to good. Lines can be very long. Overall good value for casual dining but not as a celebration. Food is pretty basic home cooked style food. The strawberry pie is awesome.
The food here is fantastic and the portions are massive, but that doesn’t mean you’re getting cheap food or poor ingredients. On the contrary, the dishes are wholesome and satisfying and the prices are a great value. The atmosphere is great but arrive 20-30 minutes before you want to eat! because this place is always jam-packed.
Great food. We met up with friends there we hadn't seen in a while. We got a booster seat for our older child but got told 3 or 4 times within 2 minutes that we couldn't have the car seat on the floor beside our table. Clearly none of the staff discussed who would tell us as we were told repeatedly before we could have a chance to pick it up. I would go back for sure.
My sister ordered 2 turkey dinners for my 50th birthday as this was a tradition in our family. They were supposed to be all white with extra gravy. When we picked up the order it was dark meat and hardly any gravy. When I talked to the manager Maria they only wanted to provide a 50 % discount for my next order. Will never recommend Teddy's and poor customer service.
Dinner
I now live just down the road from Teddy's (yay!!) Growing up, this was always a family go to when we went out for dinner. The portions are massive and always so delicious. It's the classic diner comfort food that everyone loves. The line can appear to be long depending on the time of day that you go but the line moves quick and the food is well worth it, I promise! Their salad dressing is to die for!
I just happened to be in this area and tried Teddy’s. You will not be disappointed. I had the Philly steak sandwich au jus and it was absolutely delicious. Large quantity of food too.
Always amazing food with great prices!
Family dinning, full of generational memories for our family. Brings good feelings back coupled with great food.
They are still open thru Covid but for take out only with a limited menu only. We had a sudden urge for a Corn Beef sandwich and we both said at the same time Teddy's. We phoned ahead and picked up in less than 15 minutes. Teddy's has been around for years serving down to earth food with delicious desserts as well. Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. A true local landmark of Oshawa.
Service: It is your typical old school diner with your usual suspects for the menu. The service is also old school. With nice ladies who know the menu like the back of their hand. They are efficient and fast and they know their patrons probably by first name basis. We were treated just as well and lookkng around us the caring service was present in all of them.
Great food...LONG....WAIT. get here early....if you want to eat at 6pm, be in the line by 430/5pm... worth the wait...BIG portions... great prices...and any dessert is amazing- fresh and big...my choice is always the rice pudding with whipped cream and cinnamon...! Leave VERY full but happy !
Really dissapointed with the quality of the food. I use to love the liver and onions as well as the roast beef dinner however, not good anymore. I had the liver and onions last week and it was not good. Gave it another try today and will never have it again. Really dissapointed Teddy's.
Had nice time out, sitting on the upstairs patio with friends. Food was good, service was pleasant... overall a nice fall after noon out
Historically ALWAYS amazing. Although, since the sale to new owners I have honestly noticed minor changes in portion size and quality and taste. I can only speak to the roast sirloin beef and turkey dinners which are what our family exclusively orders. Of course, we’ll still order, and enjoy it enough to keep coming back.
I've been going there since I was born..IM 39. NOT 1 COMPLAINT IN 40 YEARS..they are HUGE PLATES FOR THE CHEAPEST PRICE'S.. I HIGHLY SUGGEST TEDDY8 EVERYTHING IS MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM..OUT OF THIS WORLD WITH EVERYTHING.TRY THE PIES..YOU WILL ALWAYS BUY A PEICE OR WHOLE PIE..ALSO HOUSE DRESSING IS MY FAVOURITE.. NOTHING LIKE IT....
Items were missing from my order I expect that during the holidays. What I didn't expect was the hair in my turkey dinner. Nothing is more discusting then finding that in your food. I will never ever go back.
Great place for a home cooked meal. Portions are very large, so either have kids share or take home. Prices are very reasonable. Usually a long line up, but goes quickly. Not a place for a romantic dinner. No alcohol. Staff are always friendly. Service is great.
First of all the atmosphere is excellent, great retro vibe. Staffs were very friendly and took great care of us. Food was absolutely delicious. One of the best corn beef sandwich I ever had. Portions were huge for the price. I'm definitely coming back here again.
I wish it was possible to give it a zero. There was a very long line-up, so I assumed the food would be heavenly. Our waitress was surly at best and downright rude at worse. She ignored us and the other waitstaff were equally rude. I would look around the room and every single waitstaff looked pissed off and there was not one smile. The food was unappealing to the eye - very gross to look at and it tasted terrible. Here it is the next day, and I have been sick since shortly after eating there. The prices are ridiculous, especially considering the sub-quality of the food. I am baffled how this place would get a rating higher than a one-star. I have never gone to Google to rate a restaurant but I felt compelled to do so after my dismal experience there.
Family friendly with tasty food. Solid fries. Classic menu. Fast and efficient service. Would definitely come back.
Amazing food, just as awesome prices and great portion sizes! Personally I love the burgers, though the deli sandwiches are exceptional as well.
Always a go-to spot when we're going through the GTA. Food is great, decently priced, and generous portions.
Amazing food . Best home cooked meal in oshawa .HUGE portions can never finish in one sitting ! Favorite is roast turkey dinner with a slice of ???? ????
Just Awesome! We visited last Sunday evening and the 20 min wait was more than worth it. The food was fantastic and well worth the cost. We ordered a turkey dinner and hot turkey sandwich and our son had the children's pasta with meat sauce. Everything tasted great and the portions were overflowing. Service is fast and friendly. We will be back!
Talk about over rated, this place caters to low life individuals with no taste. While the quantity of food served may be considered a lot to some, the quality, however leaves much to be desired and invariably exemplifies the notion that most people have no idea what good food is. I have only eaten there a few times, and that was a few times too many. Bad food served in a bad environment by poor cooks.
What is there to say about Teddy’s..other than how damn amazing this restaurant is. I’ve order from here on SkipTheDishes and I’ve been in person. Each experience here was 10/10. The food was delicious and fresh, the portion size was great and staff treated us like our service was important. If you’re in Oshawa this is a great place to go too.
Good service and amazing strawberry pie
Went with out of town guest who was deeply impressed with food and service? I was so impressed I spoke to our waitress supervisor and could not say how wonderful the food was and the fantastic service our waitress provided us.
Oh..... Liver and Onions was the best. And a sweet waitress working her tail off on the evening shift and smiling every step of the way. We miss the beets, if you could bring those back that would be great.
I was here recently for the first time in about a decade as I no longer live in Oshawa. It hasn't changed much which is a good thing. I had their roast beef for dinner and man, it was still great! Very simple home style food, roast beef (sirloin), mashed potatoes, peas, and lots of gravy. It was wonderful! Had some homemade chicken vegetable soup for an appetizer...also delicious. Fresh roll to mop up the remnants of the soup juice. Mmmmm..... I used to like their coconut cream pie years ago and ordered a slice this last visit. Also still great and it was a huge slab! Next time I'm in Oshawa, I'll be back. Keep it up, Teddy's!
Very popular restaurant, and now I can see why! The food is delicious. Homey chicken soup. Super tender roast beef, with tasty garlic mash potatoes and fries. All topped with creamy gravy. Top it all off with a slice of strawberry cheesecaske with butterscoth sauce for dessert. Hats off to the Front of House Lady. She got us on the waitlist and told us it would be about a 30 minute wait. But 10 minutes later a spot opened up at the small diner area. It was just the 2 of us, as everyone else in line was large groups. Are waitress was great as well! Will definitely be back, next time we're in Oshawa.
This is such a popular destination that it's wise to arrive a bit on the early side. If not its still worth the wait. It is busy every day of the week. The food is home style cooking and plenty of it served hot and fresh. The staff are really good and never stop moving. The desserts are homemade and look delicious too. Prices are very reasonable. A good family spot.
I've been here a few times in the past and it really was good. This time, however, I wouldn't be able to say if it was good or not since we got seated quickly but it took 10 min just for water and when the water was given, we were told to "enjoy our meal".. we didn't even have our order taken. We eventually walked out since no one was interested in serving us at all. Such a disappointment.
Fantastic deli, best Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich I've had since,..., well, Montreal! If you're in Oshawa and want an authentic deli experience at great prices, look no further.
It was classic and I can see why most people like it. I had the turkey dinner. It was HUGE!! Like enough for two or three. The turkey was amazing but it had very limited options. I would have loved to have some steamed veggies on the side. They also rave about their coconut cream pie. If was good, but I've had WAY better. But pie is basically a lifestyle where I'm from, so... :) I don't eat bread, but everyone who got a sandwich at my table were pleased. Piles of meat and amazing flavour.
Food was amazing! Service was very friendly & very very fast. All was well, until a long hair was found tangled in the vegetables in my soup....then again tangled around my fries. We noticed the chefs did not seem to wear hair nets. It’s hard to say whether my experience was good or really bad. The food and service were wonderful, but I don’t know if I can every go back because of the hair I found in my food.
We always order take out and it has been good but this time the order was wrong and it was cold.. The prices have gone up and the quality and service have gone way down. My order wasn't ready when I got there. The girl didn't seem to know what was going on and when I got home a 10min drive the food was cold and the order was missing the vegetables. The roast beef and turkey dinners has also got a lot smaller, not impressed .Teddy's use to be great food but the new owners are scrimping on quality and quantity.
One of the best restaurants in durham. Always great food, for great prices. With the change in ownership a few years ago I was concerned about a difference in quality, however they have continued to produce the same food as they always have. If you haven't tried their food, you are missing out!
As always, the food was excellent! We had a very nice and efficient server. Will be back soon!
Three generations of my family have been coming here for as long as I can remember. I have fond memories of this place at all stages of my life. The food is AMAZING. Simple, home cooked tasting, big portions and great quality. The house dressing is to die for too. Now that I live 3 hours away I always get a bottle to take home. Can’t say enough good things about Teddy’s ❤️
Been there many times over the years. Really good food, but be aware of very dry Turkey Dinner. My server asked how my meal was and I did mention it was dry, but she didn't seem bothered by my comment.
I go to Teddy's once every two months. Today I went in for takeout and asked what was the soup of the day and was told it was chicken vegetable and clam chowder. I asked Sylvia if it was New England or Manhattan style and was promptly told I don't know and basically given the attitude that take it or leave it. She did not offer to go find out for me so I just settled for the chicken vegetable. You guys advertise on your TV screens that you want to please all your customers and I felt that my questioning of what type of clam chowder was not asking too much. Overall the food is always great and the stuff is in general very courteous and helpful. 3 stars due to this unfortunate incident.
Teddy's has the freshest most amazing food in Oshawa. My most favourite is the full turkey dinner with white meat the melts in your mouth, the stuffing is so good, gravy is awesome. The garden of eden Salad with house dressing can Not be beat, its very yummy. Hot Hamburger dinner is another favorite with mashed and tons of gravy. There desserts are all homemade they are very well known for strawberry pie, and i mean strawberries no canned stuffed, its so good. Coconut cream pie is very yummy and the rice pudding. If your ever in OSHAWA STOP AT TEDDY'S you won't regret it.
I have always enjoyed coming here with my family and friends. The food is great the staff are wonderful. Please change your greek salad the way it used to be, shredded and lots of veggies
Friendly, attentive staff. Big portions, great prices for old style comfort food! Hot turkey sandwiches, Deli sandwiches, soups, awesome pies. (Coconut Cream is my favourite!) if you're in Oshawa, you've got to go to Teddy's! Everything was great. I highly recommended this restaurant.
Food is good and pretty consistent quality each visit. Portions are huge and majority of the waitstaff are fantastic!
My husband and I where there tonight to pick up an order for dinner. We asked the server to make sure there was no mushrooms in his dinner because he has anaphylaxis when he eats them. When we got home to eat our meals we where sadly disappointed to find his dinner full of mushrooms. We called the restaurant right away and they replaced it and refunded the cost of his dinner and gave us dessert as well. It was nice of them to do that however my hubby was extremely not well for the rest of the night.
If you thought Arby's was good, THIS is better! This is one of the signature restaurant in Oshawa, with almost 60 years of operation! One may get shocked by the amount of people lining up to get a seat at the restaurant, but if you know that trick that's not an issue anymore! We went on a Sunday early evening at 5pm and people were lining up near the door already. I was told by my boyfriend that the lining up never stops regardless when you come here. That tells me the popularity of this restaurant. We were lucky to get a table at the bar (THAT'S THE TRICK, oops) as there was no wait there, but only able to have 8-10 people served. Service was reasonable speed. What I meant by that was yes they were slow but it's totally understandable by the amount of people they had to serve. Though, they didn't forget orders as the order sheets that the waitress used were so well designed. We both ordered the HOT ROAST BEEF ON A BUN with our choice of potatoes (mashed for us) and salad or soup (I got the today's soup- cream of broccoli which was my absolute fav, and the bf got Caesar salad). The cream of broccoli was very creamy and very rich of broccoli flavour, not too too thick as a cream soup, kind of resemble the Campbell cream of mushroom texture. The soup also has so diced carrots, creating the extra crunch to the soup. The roast beef.... I was speechless. The amount of meat you get in the sandwich and each slice was so thinly sliced, oh my god... with the mushroom gravy, everything's just a perfect combination. I didn't want to stop eating that. The beef was not fatty at all, and it tasted like actual beef! The mashed potatoes was very buttery and did you know? Their potatoes were all steamed and not boiled, which ensured the potato flavor was locked inside rather than lost in the pot of water. The best part in a meal of course would be the dessert. Teddy's has not many choices on dessert by why would you need many when you could order their strawberry pie. OH MY GOD it brought me to tears because it's just that good! I have never had a strawberry pie that's JUST strawberries, talking about BIG BIG sliced and whole strawberries inside the pie. The crust was my favourite as it's unlike regular pie, since they used more of a cookie crust. The price was not expensive for the amount of quality and portion you get out of it. Friendly staff and very oldies atmosphere.
Take out
This is a family friendly restaurant that serves huge portions of great food! There is plenty of room for patrons but you do have to go early on weekends is you want to get in sooner because it's a very popular place to eat. Teddy's has been a great Oshawa Restaurant for many years. Service is always quckick no matter how busy. the food is wel prepared, large portions and tasty. I am my family enjoy Teddy's often.
The Teddy’s prior to new management was phenomenal! I loved everything about it including the sometimes rude staff. The food always made up for bitter service. The turkey sandwich or the chicken breast or the pies. It was all delicious. I hope things are getting back to normal at this restaurant bc it was one of a kind. Ill have to give the new deli twist a try.
Staff are very nice. Fast service. If you spill food or drink, They will get you a new one free of charge. Very nice for family dining. My only problem is they don't have very many vegetarian options. I still love this Restaurant and have been going to it since I was little. :)
Wait staff was great, the food was not. Fries were undercooked & soggy. Med rare steak was well done, only one refill on a drink, turkey was incredibly dry, peas were raw, mashed potato was lumpy & barely covered with gravy. Needless to say, we will not be back.
Finally returned to indoor dining! Teddy's. A favourite for 40 years! Best Ruben sandwich (and believe me I've had many elsewhere!), and try with Pastrami instead. Turkey dinner is a close 2nd favourite. Everything is delicious.
I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Food is bland and dry. Service is subpar.
Only 10 people allowed in. You wait outside in the rain till called. We not wait long. People behind got in about 25 minutes later. Great meal as always with good service.
Take out
Haven't been since the new management took over but Teddy's has always been a nice comfort food diner. There is something for everyone on their menu. Don't be intimidated by the lineup when you get there it tends to move pretty quickly. Oh, and have the strawberry pie ;)
A must have is the Strawberry pie. It is very delicious and makes for a complete lunch in my estimation. All the offerings are excellent and very large portions. Easy parking and worth the drive from the 401.
Meal type
It was amazing and Fabulous as I was entering through the main door. Went inside and experienced house full and a line. But there was a sign which said you will be at your table in 10 mins and as the sign said we were greeted and were at our table in less than 10 mins inspite of the restaurant being houseful. * Food 8/10 * Interior 9/10 * Customer 9/10 Service * Atmosphere 10/10 * Price 7/10 * Space 9/10 Had an awesome experience. Loved it.. And I would gladly recommend it. Thank you so much. Teddy's Restaurant.
Excellent food, large portions at a very reasonable price for the whole family. Decor and atmosphere is very nice and staff are very friendly. Love the cabbage and corn beef dinner and the turkey dinner. They give you so much food.
Everytime I eat here it gets better and better. My husband and I both got the Turkey dinner and there was so much food. The house made salad dressing I could drink. Better than my moms turkey dinner. Sorry Mom
Wonderful service!! This is a wonderful gem to eat at with next-to-nothing wait times (30 mins approx if line is out the door and to the steps) The waitresses are very kind and talkative and I have never gotten a mixed up order. Not to mention, they take customer service to a whole new level. The food is great and reasonably priced. You can get a platter of food for just under $20 which, most typically, comes with a dinner roll, a soup, Salad, or tomato juice, potatoes (your choice) and the vegetables of the day. Everything is fresh and cooked/baked either that day or slow-cooked overnight. If you go on your birthday, you can get a coconut cream pie (fresh baked) and they will sing to you. The dining area and facility is well kept, the waitresses typically wipe and sanatize the tables and vacuum under the table. The bathrooms are always clean and the floors are kept dry and clean (entrance). They also offer a takeout section so you can grab your favorite meal to go. Edit: I have gone back several times since the new owners have taken over, and might I say they have done a superb job of upkeeping both the food and environment of the restaurant. I have seen no decline in quality, and no increase in price, which is splendid. I know that Teddy's will continue to be my go-to restaurant for years to come.
My friend I went to this restaurant and I have to admit that I was really impressed by the service we received. The wait time to get a table was reasonable and the waitress who helped us was very friendly. The portions of food was adequate as well! Definitely can't wait to go back!
A cornerstone of the Oshawa dining experience! Whether you're staying in for a full meal, stopping by for a piece of delicious chocolate cake or ordering something off of their classic menu and picking it up to-go, you won't be disappointed with Teddy's! Great wait staff and cooks. Anyone new to Oshawa or just passing through should check out this gem.
The portions are big and the food is good nothing spectacular . There's always a wait. You get a free desert on your birthday which clearly people take advantage of cause every table seemed to have a birthday. Because of this you no longer get strawberry pie on your birthday only coconut which I don't like coconut so no more birthdays there for me
My husband and I stopped here for a late lunch last week. We hadn't been here for quite a few years - for no particular reason, it is a bit out of the way for us. We were pleasantly surprised at the interior improvements that have been made, much more open. The waitresses were still as friendly and helpful as we remembered and the portions of food quite plentiful just as they used to be. Our lunch was delicious and well worth the price. We are going back next week with friends that haven't been there for a while also.
4.5 Solid experience. I tried going here a while ago, and the line-up was almost out the door. I'm not waiting 45 minutes. This time I chose my time a bit more carefully and was rewarded by no wait, and a restaurant that was just ending its lunch rush. Of course a busy place is never a bad thing. Slow restaurants make me nervous. Food was really good, I had the Philly steak sandwich, and my eating partner has the Teddy burger, which is a burger with bacon. Both were very reasonably priced, prepared the way they should be, not overly salty or over cooked. Portions seemed small because the plate was large! I was stuffed after. Cheryl was very nice, super quick and made sure we were taken care of. Food came out faster than I expected, which is always a nice surprise. Seating was good, lots of booths, which always seem in short supply at other restaurants. Would definitely go back, there are so many items on the menu worth trying.
I have always loved this restaurant for years but ever since the new owners have taken over they've been struggling alot. Please fix your ordering online app it's infuriating.....
First time visiting and OMG, the food was fantastic and the service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Had a Reuben done to perfection, unbelievably good. The meat was so tender not chewy like some places. Next time I will have to try the strawberry pie that is piled so high it would be a meal in and of itself. Definitely going back. I am just sad it took me so long to eat here, moved back to Ontario 22 years ago and I have been missing this place for 22 years?! Its a tragedy.
Arrived just after 4pm on friday Sat out on the patio our waitress was friendly and nice food was great as always
Just ordered 1 turkey club and 1 chicken club. Tonight both were done just right. Had them for pickup all went without any problems.
We orderled online for our favourite meal at Teddy's yesterday after having no success calling their number to order. It just rang and rang and finally hung up. We got to the establishment to pick up the order only to find out that we had to wait over an hour to get our meal. They were so disorganized and had a tent set-up outside with employees handing out meals. But instead of calling out the person's name when a meal came out you had to line up and wait. By the time we got our meal it was cold. If this is what they're going to do they really need to get better organized. Signed Disappointed.
I had the turkey dinner which was amazing. They always have large portions that can feed two people. I can't complain about anything as they are always very good.
Best restaurant ever! I grew up going to Teddy's with my mom and dad.
Great corn beef on rye! No skimping on the meat that's for sure
Sadly what was once a quality eating establishment has declined to sub-standard and I won’t be going back for more. Clearly the quality of the food and service has declined with the new ownership, despite their insistence that quality has not changed, corners are not being cut, and staff has remained the same. Keep telling yourself that, new owners! You can say this all you like but your end product tells a different story so please don’t respond to this review and try to convince me I had a good quality experience. Tonight I returned my meal; first time this has ever happened at this restaurant for me and I’ve been a customer for 20 years. The salad came to our table brown. It was sent back and a few minutes later we were served a “new” salad which looked exactly like the one we returned. Then the corned beef sandwich came out, and what was once a sandwich so huge you almost had to dislocate your jaw to take a bite, well it’s been reduced to about half the size. Same price however. Even our waitress agreed it looked small and said she asked the cooks if they weighed the meat as it should be a certain weight. The cook said yes... , I’m thinking not so much. The manager came to our table to discuss our concerns, and while it was appreciated that she came to see how they could make it up to us, she did offer several excuses about the old brown lettuce, saying they no longer spray it with a chemical to keep it fresh and they chop lettuce fresh daily. Perhaps if this is true the employees should pay attention to the incoming quality of lettuce they are receiving? Because if this is true,... you are chopping brown lettuce! Either way, a brown salad should not have made it onto a customers table. We were quite disappointed with the whole experience, and our first clue should have been walking in during the dinner rush and being seated immediately. Used to be you would have to wait in line for a long time, but that was okay because you knew the food was worth it. Not anymore. My family’s days of dining at Teddy’s are now over without question, I just hope the new owners will see the similarities in the many bad reviews and make an effort to pull Teddy’s out of the toilet.
The food tasted great! No issue there however the line up was long to get in 30 minutes or so, standard now a days I get it. But to be rushed out after not even finishing my food is ridiculous. I ate my urban sandwich which was only half of my order had a side of fries to pick at with gravy which I left to go use the washroom, only to come back to my table cleared I was shocked. Never have I dined at a restaurant and this happen. So 1 star I'd give 0 but won't let me.
This was on the their light menu... ???? Service was excellent! Table turn over time was spot on. Food was absolutely mouth watering as always!
Classic diner bringing up nostalgia for the good ol' days. Good selection of melts and sandwiches as well as comforting dinners. Portions are huge with mountains of meat. Vegetables are surprisingly good, not the boiled-to-death-frozen veggies that places used to serve years ago. Sauces are a little salty, so I can see why many people ordered sodas to drink, but it goes with the overall vibe of the food. Soup, salad, and bread add on to the meals is also a part of the fun experience!
Amazing service, awesome experience, delicious food!! Always a favorite go to when we come to the city!
Been coming here for years. Easily the best restaurant in oshawa. Roast beef sandwich is untouchable. Girlfriend loves the Turkey dinner and my father loves the pastrami sandwich. So good, super cheap, super filling and on top of that great service. They have amazing pies too
Food is pretty good. However, I’ve found most of the staff to be rude/cold towards me. I also find it ridiculous that they expect you to put your mask on every time a waitress comes to your table. So when they’re serving you, bringing you drinks, asking how your food is. It’s pretty unrealistic. The prices are good.
Great turkey dinner! Good customer service.
We ordered pick up the mixed grill, spaghetti with mushrooms and meat sauce, and the sole dinner. The steaks in the mixed grill are half the size they used to be, and the spaghetti with mushrooms and meat sauce was spaghetti with 9 mushrooms and no meat. Very disappointed, I guess Teddys new ownership aren't keeping with the tradition that has kept them going all these years. I heard it's not the same, and now I,ve seen it. Looks like the end of an era, time to spend my money elsewhere
Great local place. What can I say that hasn't already been said?? It a unique family restaurant. Big portions and great food. Im not a desert person really but the coconut cream pie is great!
The only place I will ever buy Liver and onions. The portions hug for every dish. Price reasonable, I think the price has gone up a touch since last there. Options for the liver like extra bacon, I had it with onions. Perfect! House salad with their house dressing. We also had fries with gravy that was good. Mashed potatoes on the side we loaded with gravy. WE love the coconut cream pie and had to take it home. This is all comfort food. I will be back, and bring an appetite.
Great prices. AMAZING food. Super friendly and accommodating service. It's now a favorite.
So many great things to say about Teddy’s. If you like homemade stuff from a restaurant, come here. If you’re a fan of real roast turkey dinner, come here - they make it every day. And it’s so delicious. Mashed potatoes - great. Stuffing (hiding under the turkey) - great. Fresh roll with whipped butter - mouthwatering. Cranberry sauce - good stuff. The only place it falls flat is in the tasteless veggies. Tip: order the daily soup - I’ve had 2 different ones and they were both great. Especially the cream of chicken. Yes you may need to stand in line, but at least you know hw many people are before you. They have a small counter area. You can sit in any open seats without waiting. And there’s take-out. Tip: save room for pie. Coconut Cream, Fresh Strawberry, Pumpkin - all were great.
Food was great and the service was fantastic.
Teddy's is a place you go having meal but you have to make sure you do not eat for a week before the food is so filling it is so good. Try to make space for dessert because all the deserts are handmade and salad when it best salads in Durham.
A throw back restaurant. Large food portion sizes at a value. However definitely not lacking on flavor. It's a favorite spot for members of my family and when I'm in that area I try and stop by and eat. The restuarant is clean as well as the washrooms. It's not all that accessible for those who have wheel chairs and strollers.
Awesome place. The food was really good. The pie was excellent and very good value. The menu is what you would expect but there is a nice mix if stuff. Prices were good. Staff were attentive. There can be a wait so take that into account.
I love Teddys... we always like to eat there while visiting family in the area. Their food is of good quality & plates are full. Their strawberry pie & rice pudding is recommended. The staff are always friendly & attentive.... my brother highly recommends their prime rib
Very lively diner with pretty good food. The burger was probably the best burger I've had in a long time - highly recommended. Their sandwiches are also packed with meats so if you're into sandwiches... Portion sizes are quite large too. Servers are polite and quick to respond.
Friendly, great service. Good good. Awesome coconut cream pie.
I have tried this place multiple times since my husband absolutely loves their “spaghetti with meat sauce” I have yet to find anything GOOD outside of portion sizes for cost and decent gravy. As an Italian quite frankly the pasta is very sad. The Ruben although not horrible was underwhelming and their fish and chips is absolute trash. As much as inwiiOS Prefer to never eat here again I hope the next time I do I find something worth eating.
The food was excellent! The waitress Sherri..Was such a lovely lady! She was friendly, funny and quick! She had a beautiful smile! My husband and I really liked her!!
Teddy's has always been a place to enjoy a great meal ... served quickly and tasty. These days .. however .. the onset of the pandemic has eroded away the large menu selection and the mass customer appeal. Its still a great place to eat .. sorts sad how restaurants have struggled with these pressing times
My favorite East end restaurant! Such a great little spot, it gets busy during peak times but it's worth the wait. I love all their soups and dishes. The strawberry pie is my absolute favorite so save room for that, it's just a good atmosphere with comforting foods that will keep you coming back for more. The gem of Oshawa for sure! Surprised it's not on You've Gotta Eat Here because it's the perfect spot!
My first time at Teddys. The entire experience was amazing. Our food was outstanding. Delicious and an unmatched value. The staff were remarkable. I ordered the turkey club, which rightfully earned its title as my new favorite club house. Teddys also has a fantastic atmosphere. I cannot wait for my next visit. A definite must try if you haven't already.
Expect a line up as this place is usually busy at lunch and dinner times. Traditional home cooking menu. (Roast beef, Turkey, mashed and veggies, etc) Salads are extremely large, fresh and tasty. Soups are homemade. The food is pretty good if you are looking for big portions without breaking your wallet. Prices are really good for the amount and quality of food, which makes this spot a must visit.
I enjoy this restaurant for the great service and large portions of delicious food. The garden of Eden salad is so fresh and always consistently delicious. The house dressing is so good that it has became a favorite. I have eaten most items on the menu and can honestly say that I recommend Teddy's restaurant as a great place for a delicious meal. They have something for everyone.
Meal type
Came in for dinner lastnight, waitress greeted us, and took our drink orders, I didn't know what I wanted to eat so I did ask her, she suggested the hot roat beef sandwich with gravy, so I gave that a try, it was absolutely delicious! The portions of food are big so it makes it worth the money, I definitely recommend this place for lunch/dinner.
Teddy's is my girlfriends and my go to place. You simply can't beat the quality of the food and the prices. Every time I visit I expect a line up and I am never upset by it. When you get seated you are served so quickly and the staff is attentive. The food is fantastic. I purposely try something new every visit and every meal I've ordered I would order a second or third time. I am aware the restaurant is under new management and I hope they can appreciate what they have. Teddy's has a legacy and maintaining that should be of the utmost importance. I hope I can say that I will continue to go to Teddy's for years to come.
After visiting Teddy's for the last 25 + years and loving it we actually walked out. We requested a minor change .. coleslaw instead of sauerkraut on the rueben sandwich. Have ordered it that way forever. I basically was told they have never done that before. The waitress summoned the manager. I was told IF they do it there would be an upcharge of $3.00 !! The manager pretty much called me a liar and that nobody had ever done that before, nor could she make an exception for me because she would have to do that for everyone!. I politely told her we were fine with that....and would be leaving. But be rest assured....I will never be back. When did this establishment turn into a McTeddy's ????? Terrible customer service.
Huge portions and doesn't cost an arm and a leg food quality is very good
We ordered our Christmas dinner from here this year. Great food. Lovely service. They even helped bring it to the van. Covid safe, friendly and yummy food! You can't go wrong :) Merry Christmas!!
Really going down hill on the food since new owner took over. Don't change recipes that have worked for ever. Place was a staple in the food area in oshawa. Don't mess with a good thing
We moved to Oshawa a year ago. First time at Teddy's. What a wonderful experience. The staff are super friendly, great food, great portions and great prices. It will be a future go-to place for us!
Now that's how it's done! Fell upon this place by chance while travelling from Ottawa to Toronto... Boy was I glad my wife decided to stop at this place. Best club sandwich I have had in many many years (if not ever), and my wife's burger was "to die for". Great service and fair value. A true pleasure
What can anyone say about Teddy's Restaurant that hasn't already been stated. The FOOD IS DELICIOUS, the PORTIONS ARE LARGE and Nobody!!! Leaves Hungry... Good Old Fashioned Home Style Cooking, and although the store is always busy The STAFF are ALWAYS SMILING, FRIENDLY and HELPFUL.
The food is amazing but I miss the pumpernickel buns. I read the reviews and I completely agree that the staff is super rude. One lady, tall with short hair that has been there forever literally made me feel like serving me was parallel with going to a funeral. She looked so miserable, did not smile once and was super rude. First time I did not leave a tip. Actually 80% of the waitresses are crusty - best way to describe them.
Love, love, love this place. Food is always amazing ans staff is so friendly
Not the best version of a smoked meat on rye. Did not enjoy it at all I was hoping for a real Montreal style sandwich but got a really poor imitation with cold fries . The first image is what it should look like(Estrellas) the second is better looking than what I got (Teddy's)
It's not the best food in town. But it's pretty good. And amazing value. Been coming here for years. It's a staple in Oshawa. I haven't been since the changes so am excited to see them
Skip the meal you usually have before going to Teddy's. Portion sizes are vast and delicious. Service is always fast and friendly. Try to save room for dessert, even if it's to share. They're all good but the coconut cream pie is worth the shame spiral from leaving so full.
Just had lunch there with the girlfriends, now under the new management. Same great pleasant service, same plates, portions and prices. Got a surprise coconut creme pie and a song from staff for my birthday. Did not know that would happen. Best place in town to take a date if he likes to eat. Val. 17/04/19.
First time at this restaurant and heard it was a good place to try. When we arrived there was a line up. That was a good sign, or so we thought. The server was not friendly but adequate. She wore a uniform, as did the other servers. The drinks order were taken and brought quickly. The food was extremely bland. The only saving grace was the salad dressing. The portions were big, even for the smaller appetite selection. Sadly, it did not measure up. The seating was way too close to one another. They could add some planters in between the booths. Looks like they used to have glass partitions but it was removed. Won't be returning as a result. They should really taste their food before it's served. (Ordered the Montreal Smoke Meat sandwiches, Chicken Parmigiana and Clam Chowder, Kids' pancakes)
Great food, great service.
Haven't been here in a while, but had a craving for a great smoked meat sandwich and I wasn't disappointed. Sandwich was almost as big as my head!
Not as good and consistent since new owners took over
Nice atmosphere. Very clean. We arrived for lunch and had about a 15 minute wait to be seated. Once we were at our table, service was quick and very pleasant. The food was delicious, however my only complaint was that the roast potatoes I was expecting were actually steamed and seasoned. They were good but I was looking forward to traditional roast potatoes- soft inside and crispy skin on the outside. It's a texture preference . So perhaps they could be clearer on their menu for picky people like me. Seriously, though, there are plenty of choices on the menu- you really can't go wrong. I've eaten here about 3 or 4 times now, when visiting from out of town. The food is consistently tasty with a home kitchen feel. You probably won't have room for dessert, but don't let that stop you from getting something to go for those midnight munchies. I heartily recommend their homemade pies. Fresh strawberries stacked to overflowing, or a coconut cream that is out of this world delicious. Fresh tasting and surprisingly light- not the oversweetened kind from the grocery. You'll see them on display in the chiller cabinet as you walk in. You really dont want to walk out empty handed. I only get to Oshawa a few times a year, but Teddy's is always my favourite go-to place for good food. Family friendly.
Great food! Good sized portions for the $$. My ultimate fav is the veal parmesan and spaghetti. Food is served on the table quickly. Atmosphere is average - the staff should smile more and be more welcoming :) but I believe the food, portions, price is what brings the people in. Be sure to save room for dessert - Coconut Cream Pie or Strawberry Pie.
Did a family take out meal the other day. Excellent food (turkey club sandwich, reuben, veal parm dinner). 'Best club house ever'. Nice easy-to-use online order system. Thanks Teddy's! We'll do that again.
Just went to teddies waited in line to order take out. The person in front of me picked up his order then the girl pulled out some stock and put it away then another customer came in and before she got to the window the girl was taking her order......it was never like that when I worked there and Chris or Ted would never allow that kind of behavior to customers. Mabe the same name but shure isn't the same place I've been going to for the past 35 years..... guess I'm going to have to start going back to McDonald's....
Had a slight discrepancy in the delivery. I called and it was rectified extremely quickly and a surprise bottle of house salad dressing for the error! Thank you Teddy's I love your food!
Great choice! Delicious food for reasonable prices. Also, please order directly from the restaurant, as delivery services take big chunk of a profit from local businesses.
Took hubby out for dinner for Father's Day. Waitress was run off her feet. We both ordered liver and bacon which has always been awesome. This time however the liver was tough, the mushroom gravy was runny and not much taste. I finished most of mine as it was my first meal of the day and I was hungry. Hubby took a few bites and left the rest. Waitress picked up his plate without asking if there was something wrong with it and left quickly. She then dropped off the bill leaving us feeling very rushed. Certainly not the Teddy's were have been used to. Will take our business elsewhere from now on.
First time going to Teddy's! Some friends of Darryl's took Renald, Darryl and I. It was all the way in Oshawa but we loved it. ©hugs© JACK ????
Amazing all-around amazing Teddy's has it all and has been doing it for years I know recently they have changed management or ownership but it still continues to be one of the busiest restaurants in Oshawa day after day when lineups out the door every single day if you're looking to have a family dinner with the family head on down to Teddy's. My family and I just celebrated my grandmother's 75th birthday there and the way they has accommodated us was phenomenal on all angles just wanted to say thanks to the Teddy's crew! And all of you reading this I hope you enjoy your next time at Teddy's!!
Amazing food. It's worth a drive from anywhere to try this deli. Prices are very fair and the portions aint small! Definitely a great spot!
Dinner
Great food and interesting decor. Lots of our friends go there. I've only been once but the kids loved the burgers, my turkey club was fantastic and the strawberry pie is amazing. I'll have to go back again to try some of the other food
Excellent food as always great staff very friendly
Always great food and large portions, staff are friendly
The food and service was good!
Bad Experience I had my husband and daughter go in to get the table while I picked up my dad. Arrived and was seated, they had drinks. Waitress said she would be right over, five minutes then ten minutes went by still nothing. Finally after about 15 minutes she came over. We figured we better place our full order plus my dad and my drink. When we placed our order we requested a strawberry and coconut pie to go. She checked and there was four strawberry pies. 15 minutes later she said Oh I will get your order in only to come over and advise the pies where gone. Meanwhile my dad and I are still waiting for our drinks. Finally she brings my dad's but not mine. After three further asks for my drink she finally brought it. Then comes over to advise she has told the manager that our food order was taking a long time. Finally an hour after we arrived our food came. She managed to mess up my order. I insisted my family to eat while I waited. Meanwhile two families beside us arrived after us and are finished before us and gone. Finally my food came and my family was finished. We always are at Teddy's because the food and service was always good but this waitress had no clue what she was doing. Due to this experience we will never eat at Teddy's again. A shame that one waitress could ruin a good place. Oh she gave offered us free dessert but God only knows how long it would have taken to get that. If you go there I hope you get a waitress that knows what she is doing. Good luck.
Fresh and nice tasting food at very nominal rate.
Teddy's restaurant is unbelievable. It is always busy each time I am there. That already speaks for itself. The food itself is so freshly prepared, from bread roll, soups salads to main courses as well as desert. I am really not a desert person but still enjoy their strawberry pie, could taste the freshness of the strawberry. It gradually becomes very fresh with such turnover volume. If you have not been there to find out for yourself then I suggest you to. The servers are ossum as well. I am sure I will be there again.
I love the chowder soup. It is nice. The cheesecake is just too sweet.
One of my most favorite places to go eat. The portion sizes are really good, and they make a terrific clubhouse, hot roast beef and turkey sandwiches. The waitresses are a delight to talk to, and the service is terrific.
Decent food and pricing, staff are easy going too. Great place to eat
1st time here. Came here based on a recommendation. Extremely fast service once seated. Waitresses are very friendly and hustle non stop. Food is very good. Steak was perfect. Could use a bit of an update in the decor...
Haven't been to Teddy's in over a decade. Our waitress has worked there for 31 years. The exterior feels like it has been updated, the interior feels so familiar, except significant reduction in available tables. Taste was great as I remember and the portion size was as generous as ever!! Thanks Teddy's. The roast beef and burgers were as great as ever ... yummy!
Not your typical restaurant franchise. A hearty meal served up nice and hot in a very soft tone ambience for the typical neighbourhood family. However, from my recent experience in the dining room area, I'd prefer to go with take out. Less than 30 minutes before closing, the vacuum comes out, it is assembled and now in use in the areas where customers are eating. The only thing left to be done is for us to lift our feet. I understand Teddy's has their reputation being in the neighbourhood but little things like that can limit the number of customers to those who are of the neighbourhood.
This place has gone down hill big time! For the last four months my food has been always messed up every time something wrong with my order! its not hard, well at least I didn't think so. This time there's mushrooms in my food, I said three times no mushrooms I guess you have to confirm five times before they understand... Don't bother asking for utensils you won't get them. When the restaurant is open is normally polite and energetic but seem stressed now.
Awesome food at very reasonable prices. Hubby really loved his burger. Lots of choices on their menu and super friendly staff. Make sure you leave room for desert. Their homemade pies are to die for! Not many diners around anymore these days .... Teddy's is a true gem.
I'd go 3.5 if I could. Prices continue to climb but food is still alright. Staff is always friendly. Large portions if that's your thing. Many people love this place!
Had to change this review to 1 star, do not order Ted's for delivery, they clearly don't care, and know you aren't eating in, so complaints won't come to them. Got soup and a sandwich, the broth in the soup was delicious, except the chicken had bones in it. The club sandwich had so much hair it was disgusting there was long hair woven through my sandwich, my fries also had a hair in it absolutelydisgusting. I will never be eating here again, and I don't recommend you do.
Not the same place. My aunt used to come down from Ottawa and one of the things she always looked forward to was Teddy's none in Ottawa. She ordered the roast beef on a sandwich and was disappointed it is not the same. The other night. I went and ordered the same thing roast on a bun. The top bun was missing, the gravy was different. Overall it was way to salty. The potato's we're not mixed properly. Seasoning strong with some bites and little with the next as well as chunks of potato. I understand the waiter said they were in a hurry, however. My aunt said the same thing. As well as the roast beef was on the drier side. Two different occasions. About a month ago and maybe a week. And last night. However... Teddy's is still worth coming to from time to time. The staff are always pleasant and the pies have never changed. The coconut cream pie is still to die for. I ordered one and brought it to my sisters for dessert a few months ago. The other pie and cake I assume are just as good. The strawberry pie is made fresh downstairs. Chocolate cake I have once before. It is delicious. Coconut cream is my favourite.
Huge portion, and fresh food. Loved it here. Would appreciate more vegetarian menu though!
It’s a very nice place but I don’t know why last week we went there we ordered dinners as usual and out of the blue the waiters started to clean the restaurant and vacuum all sound us !!!! Whet does that means??? Leave???? We are our food quickly and left the place although we painted around 90 dollars but got what !!! We didn’t enjoyed it at all
Went to Teddy's last night for the first time and was super impressed!!! Excellent service and delicious food, with huge portions. A great meal. Place was packed at 4:30pm, and when we left there was a lineup almost out the door. It would be worth the wait though!
We were looking for a restaurant to try while visiting Oshawa. We are so happy that we found teddys! The kid meals were amazing and they accommodated our gluten free requests without hesitation. The staff were polite and efficient and we had refills without having to ask. The portions were generous and the price was surprisingly low for what we received. All around, a great visit that we will drive the 45 minutes to experience again
Amazing food and service. The Hot Roast Turkey or Beef Sandwich is delicious. What I espicially enjoy is the coconut, and strawberry pie. You will not be disappointed.
My great grandmother went here from its opening till her death six years ago. I have been coming here my whole life. Classic staple in Oshawa. Large food selection. Very tasty and filling. House salad dressing sold on site. Take out now also available. Whether it's a date or just you alone, or even your family and friends have a night out. It's the place to be. Friendly staff and great food. I go for the breaded beef liver. Not everyone's thing but if you know it's hard to cook, and they nail it. So come on out and try what everyone have been talking about for decades. At Teddy's you will feel the love.
To be completely honest my experience was not good. I have no complaints about the food but the service was horrendous. They lady that checks your ID and Vaccine passport at the front us snippy and rude - I literally had to tell her I would appreciate it if she could speak to me with a little kindness, and no I had no problem showing my documents so definitely not brought on by me. Then our waitress was also very brash and really blunt and snippy. Considering we live on the same street as Teddy's and come here often I am far from impressed. Teddy's should really consider changing up the people checking documents I think the lady has been doing it to long and maybe they should do a refresher course with their waitresses on customer interactions.
Great place for a smoked meat sandwich.
Coming to Teddy’s is like coming over to grandpa and grandmas for thanksgiving dinner..Great service I mean that in the best possible way! Great food big portions enough to take home for leftovers the next day! And great friendly/family feel to it :)
Great food, great service and huge portion sizes. It's always been a pleasure dining at Teddy's.
Great service, great food, great decor and great prices
Great homemade food with very fair prices. Unfortunately we had requested mashed potatoes with gravy for one of the meals and we did not get the gravy. Very filling portions.
Meal type
Had the turkey dinner for the first time and holy wow. Its really amazing, had the mashed with gravy, veggies. It really was the best and made my day. Thank you for such a wonderful meal.. And to top it all off i had a slice of strawberry pie... A true 5 star meal. Cheers teddys, you brought this man a piece of perfection during a time when not much is going right in my life,so truly thank you and merry christmas n happy new year.
This is a fantastic family restaurant with a wide variety of menu items sure to please every appetite. The wait staff is experienced and super friendly making sure that your visit is going to be a delight. Even the prices are fantastic considering the wonderful food offerings and portions you receive. If there is an issue, Teddy's is quite popular and can get very busy at times... to the point of being lined up right out the door. I will say that it is worth the wait but if you can get there when there is no line, take advantage of it.
If u want that casual fare and a warm welcome then this is the best place in town! I went with my family and had breakfast and had a very good experience! It's a constant busy place however, but for any type of mood one is in ? Enjoy your experience! The waitresses are very warm, friendly and extremely polite of their customers and their customer service is excellent! ????????????????????????????????????
Shelley was our server. She was so pleasant. She knew the menu, gave suggestions (because I asked for them). My wife went with her suggestion of the roast. She loved it! I had the beef patty smothered in gravy and onions. I loved it. The mashed potatoes were good. Our kids enjoyed their meals. The kid desserts were skimpy, which the kids questioned, but I didn't care. I'm trying to train them to reduce their sugar intake anyway. Ha ha Oh, I hope they begin putting their veggies on a side dish. Maybe I should just request it though. My peas were soaked in gravy because they were on the plate
Fantastic as always and the staff were great too✌
Been going here since I was a kid and absolutely love it here. While the menu has changed over the years, the food quality never changed and I am always happy with my experiences. Forever a fan!
Make the right choice and don’t implement the vaccine proof on the 22 of sept, don’t not discriminate against the unvaccinated, what’s wrong with just a mask? We were doing all this time before. Stand up!!!!!
Teddy's food has gone down hill since the new ownership. You no longer get portions worth what you are paying and they have even increased prices. At least when Teddy owned the restaurant they always kept the same portions if they had to raise the prices. Stay away from Teddy's and give a better place your hard earned money.
Teddy's is a great place to eat. It is one of those establishments people recommend to others coming into the region for vacations or just passing through. I have been asked by numerous people from other areas ask me if I have ever been to Teddy's when they find out I used to live in the region. Keep up with the exceptional customer service and great food!
We visited Teddy's restaurant in August for brunch recently. The servers were warm and friendly. The children's menu is priced well, portion sizes large. I had a chocolate milkshake which was thick and sweet for around $5. Breakfast was more than plentiful. The restaurant was clean and not busy in the late morning during the week. Would recommend.
Does your staff understand exemptions /o masking requirements? I attended with my boyfriend for takeout. We were directed to the back where I noticed 2 patrons eating at the bar area, where of course they weren't wearing masks. We were more than 6 ft away in front of a service attendant behind her plexiglass. As we discussed between one another what we wanted to order, I pulled my mask down in order to be deciphered to my part er. YES for all of 4 seconds I did so not just to be heard, but because I am one of those asthmatic people that fall under exemption and difficulty with lung capacity. I would've been happy to pull out my inhaler had she asked for proof. Even as such,I do my best to respectfully comply as I can in public places. However, when I told this attendant, she didn't seem to care...so we finished ordering and I left to report her ignorance and dismissiveness of me to the Manager on Duty. Dear Teddy's management. Food and service good. Ambience a bit outdated, but the liver and onions made up for it
Great restaurant with huge portions! This place is a true Oshawa staple and it really earns the reputation. The best strawberry pie I have ever eaten, and free sundaes for kids! The decorations are almost exclusively sports memorabilia (mostly Leafs) and they really tie the place together. The home cooking along with a genuine care for heritage and history makes a great combination.
The service was good, and the whole feel of the restaurant was nice and welcoming. However the food I found to be very bland, and mediocre. Which was a disappointment because a lot of people recommended this place to me. The only thing that saved it for me was there pie. I will be scratching this one of the must try list for sure though.
Great service, friendly waiters, great food, clean, amazing decorations, what is there not to love?
Staff is not friendly, they do not give you the time of day. Everytime I am there I feel rushed. Even when ordering take-out over the phone they talk so fast I can barely hear them. I have been put on hold for over 10 minutes multiple times and when I call back they give me attitude about it only being 2 minutes like my experience does not matter. This is unfortunate because I love their food.
Great place for a family meal. Extensive menu and they do everything well. Not exotic 5-star restaurant well, but it's good, hearty, home-made well. They keep their prices low by making everything in-house. Don't expect the staff to be at your elbow for the whole meal. They keep their staff very busy but they're very good at what they do and they expect you'll call them if you need something between the times they check on you. They're not being rude, they just have a lot to do! The only issue I've ever had is the wait time. They're really well organized but weekend meal-time line ups can be over an hour to an hour and a half. What can I say, they have very good food at very reasonable prices so they're also super popular!
Excellent restaurant and an Oshawa landmark. The food is always good, the portions are large and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Just be aware, they are so popular, at peak times you can expect a lineup, sometimes out the door. Also, if you go, you need to go for Breakfast on a Sunday before 2pm and get the breakfast for two. I remember when it used to be just $13 for two, but it has gone up to $17.99 but it is still a fantastic value considering the amount of food you get (4 kinds of meat, 4 eggs, 4 huge pancakes, toast and home fries as well as coffee or tea)
Seems like the original owners retired, because this place was A+ in it's day, but now it seems to have gone down hill. It's just not the same. Check out the other low star reviews for other related inquiries of the down fall of this, once great restaurant. Edit: The veal parm that you insist has not changed, has. In the past they used a ground veal patty and you got 2 of them. There was a deal. Now you have veal scallopini, that are super skinny and not very well tenderized. The sauces are watered down as well. I have been going here since 1989 and you tell me nothing has changed? Don't lie to me.
Great service! Food was cooked quickly and was delicous, I'd happily go back anytime. Sevice was very efficient and friendly, 10/10 without a doubt!! Not a single complaint and it couldn't have been better!
Good portion sizes and tasty flavour. Prices are ok and a little high compared to other diners. Recommended to visit!
Awesome food. Ready quick. Omg that's all I can say .
The Perfect Corned Beef Sandwich is at Teddy's. This, I'm sad to say, is the only place left in Oshawa from which you can order a true "Corned beef on rye". All of the other places give me a skimpy, over-seasoned and salty sandwich (like they had to take a perfect slab of corned beef and totally mess with it). Teddy's makes a dynamite CBOR and I challenge you to eat the whole thing in one sitting (it's possible, but you'll feel stuffed). It's the sandwich of kings (or queens)! Have a little Dijon handy though...I love a smidge of hot mustard on the bread! Teddy's: No matter what you order....Nom! Nom! (I love the burgers and chicken parmesan too). I've lived in Oshawa almost my entire adult life and Teddy's is the only place I've always walked out of feeling stuffed...but in a good way. It's truly a culinary institution in this town.
A great family restaurant with warm helpful staff, food was great but don't expect anything for the diet conscious patron! Portion are very generous. Decore is a bit dated but adds to the comfort level you'd feel. Definitely would go back to try other items. Had the Philly cheese sandwich
Dinner
Teddy's has been a family staple for a long time now. My entire family used to come here all the time for dinner. It's nice to see that some things never change. I love their food. The corn beef on rye is my favorite. I highly recommend Teddy's restaurant to anyone who hasn't tried it. They make good food ????????
The food has slid in quality since the new owner. I ordered a chicken caesar the chicken was dry and overcooked it must be stored in a fridge before being sliced and served. My daughter ordered the roast beef sandwich she took 1 bite and said it is dry. The waitress was accommodating and admitted it gets dry this time of day (it was only late lunch). Talking to my neighbour she had heard the same that the food isn't what it was before the new owners. Too bad!
The Reuben sandwich is unbeatable! It comes with between 10-20 slices of tender delicious corned beef topped with sauerkraut, swiss cheese and don't forget to add some spicy mustard which just ties this masterpiece together! This restaurant has a cool old school diner vibe to it with very friendly staff and quick service!
Clean friendly environment, and courteous staff, I write as new owners have taken over the restaurant and vowed not to change anything, and they are delivering on that promise in spades. Food was great, portions were large and price was reasonable. Tried to resist the strawberry pie but I failed and grabbed one to take home.
Teddys has a great family atmosphere. When you eat here it feels like you are eating a home cooked meal at your grandmas house. The portions are huge! The service is excellent! There is next to no wait for your food here. Be sure to try the pie as it is amazing!
Good food. Great prices on huge portions! Love their strawberry pie and coconut cream pie deserts.
Great food, freshly made, generous portions and good prices. Their house salad dressing is the best I've tasted anywhere! Great customer service too. Very efficient and friendly servers. Waiting times are also reasonable, even during peak times. We've never had to wait more than 15-20 minutes. They don't serve alcohol on-site, so it's a RIDE-friendly restaurant! ????
This is a family friendly restaurant that serves huge portions of great food! There is plenty of room for patrons but you do have to go early on weekends is you want to get in sooner because it's a very popular place to eat. Great restaurant, huge portions for resonable prices. get there early for lunch and dinner, they get really really busy. Excellent food and great service. The people were very friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere for any occasion. I love this place. It's always freshly made and so delishious. The prices are great. Have been there a million times and never had a bad experience.
First time eating at Teddy's. The portions were huge and our meals were excellent.
House of giant food! Bring your appetite to get through big servings of good homemade diner food. Great soup. Excellent julienne salad. Everything people around us were eating looked great! Recommend!
Wow! The food is just incredible! I've tried half the menu here and so far I haven't had anything I didn't like. I can't really explain how good this place is. Even if I'm full, if there's food on the plate I will finish it. If you doubt me just go by and see how long the line is if people just waiting to get in. It's worth the wait.
I’ve been getting Teddys for 30+ years and would definitely say the food has a home-cooked taste. I would Suggest trying either the turkey dinner with stuffing gravy and cranberrys, Chicken Parmesan or the ground sirloin dinner with gravy on the mashed. They also have really good corn beef sandwiches and rice pudding all a great price point.
I've been going here for almost 15 years and my family and I have had the best experience every time. Not only is the food phenomenal, but the service is impeccable! Great for family dining for lunch or dinner. Desserts are fabulous as well. Be prepared to be very very full. There's something for everyone! Only thing is that the bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible, but everything else is.
It was my first time at Teddy's. I haven't had liver for quite long time, I had liver dinner in onion and mushrooms gravy. Was delicious. The liver cook to perfection..I've hear such good things about this restaurant..so I will definitely come back.
Someone loved their food so much they drove threw the front door Lol
Since this place has changed owners it's cutting corners today got roast beef dinner for my mother .. asked for extra gravy on the side got 2 different gravies one was add water for sure with mushrooms the other may have been roast beef... didn't get the soup that was suppose come with the dinner but sure paid for it. Too bad things have changed here I've been going there for years. The only time I'll be going back is to get the money back for the 2 soups I didn't get. Very sad ????
The spaghetti is horrible. Too much and the noodles go on for a mile. No special taste never again.
Great portion sizes but the main course not very hot.
For years, Teddy’s has been the cornerstone of casual dining in Oshawa and despite a change of ownership and a pandemic, they never disappoint! With the limitations of Covid, their “well oiled” service remains efficient and yet very personal. Food is consistently good in taste and portions. Great corned beef sandwich and a slice of their legendary strawberry pie and cream.
You will be greeted by a long line up at the door, where you can admire the restaurant's dated 1980s decor. The line moves quickly enough. The food usually comes quickly, The sandwiches are good, everything else (Fries, vegetables, salads, sides, etc) is average quality. The waitresses are ok, but can be a bit grumpy sometimes. I have found that they tend to rush you to finish and clear the table for someone else. Prices are also a little high. Oshawa has many other restaurants that offer better food, a better experience, and a better value, and I likely won't be returning to Teddy's.
Their Strawberry and Coconut Cream Pie are to die for. Portion sizes for their meals and desserts are big for their price point.
Unfortunately to much to our disappointment our last visit to Teddy's will definitely be our last. The once great landmark in Oshawa has lost it's flair for great food. Our meals tasted no better then a reheated Sawson's TV dinners. Not sure if it's due to new owners or we blame it on Covid.....nevertheless when $55 gets you horrible food, I'll go across the street to Harvey's.
We are regular customers here but the past 2 times we have been here, Wendy was our waitress. She is very passive aggressive and not pleasant... the only reason we keep returning is because of the other ladies. The manager with the “I love smile” mask is wonderful!
The wait at peak dinner time is faster than expected. Food was really good, portions were amazing! Service was okay. Would recommend this place. Definitely will revisit.
Same great food and amazing service just like when the original owners were there!
In my top 3 places to chow, and the portions are huge and fairly priced.
With everything going on, we had to cancel our family Thanksgiving. At the last minute, we ordered two turkey dinners from Teddy's and they were delicious! The turkey, mashed with gravy, coleslaw, stuffing, chicken soup.... all top notch. Glad we found this place!
The food is really good but the delivery was terrible! Took 2.5 hours to get out supper delivered. Had to call only to find it was never sent. The potatoes were cold as well. The manager I talked with was very nice and tried to make it right with free cheese cake. Like I said the food is great but would recommend picking up your food yourself.
Service
Take out
In Oshawa for a baseball tournament and this place had some good ratings. So tried it out server was very friendly and attentive. The food was good and the portions were big except for the sides. The price was very reasonable for what we got. Would come back if we are in town again.
Yummy! Great service and reasonable price.
I order takeout frequently and I'm never disappointed. They always get my order right, and the food is always hot and fresh. The best corned beef sandwich around! You will never leave hungry. Keep up the great work guys.
Fast, courteous service, even when the place is packed. If you have to line up, don't worry it's worth the wait and the line goes fast! The salads and dinner plates are great, and the thanksgiving turkey feast is amazing year round! I love the coconut cream pie, the farmer's salad, and the club sandwich. There are even great options if you are eating low carb or keto!
First time I've eaten from Teddys since the new owners. As always, a fantastic meal and enough for me to have tomorrow as well. My only complaint...not their fault was the $7 delivery fee.
Service
Teddy's was recommended by locals. We soon learned how popular it was when we found the line for the dining room all the way back to the packed take-out section. The staff were super friendly and convinced for the sake of time to do take-out. The meal sizes are generous. We are each looking forward to lunch left overs tomorrow.
The interior of the building is so interesting, very old timey diner but modern; I love it. All the wait staff here are super nice and friendly. The plates are huge and filling, Vey much worth the fare prices paid. The deli sandwiches are amazing, the meat certainly stands out. The chicken fingers are fantastic, never dissapointed. The coconut creme pie is delightful, very light and soft; and the piece you get is huge. I'll be back soon to try the Park Avenue Special!
Great dinner style food. Not great for vegetarians or people looking for fish but if you love big portions and meat this is the place to be. The one thing that annoyed me though was the long line ups. You know it's good but it's not really a sit down restaurant to me. It's more of an in and out place.
We stopped in on the way back from camping and we are making a point of coming back. Really generous portions, fresh food, great kids menu, nice people there. Good but not great service, waitresses didn’t seem to have sections they had tables scattered, so you could wait a while to ask for something, but not really their fault. The place is also immaculately clean. They still have some really amazing 80’s decor with lots of stuff on the ceiling and lots of really healthy plants, and not a spec of dust which means they have to be super on it.
This restaurant if fantastic. Huge portions....go with a big appetite, extremely reasonable prices, excellent and friendly service considering how busy they always are. Be prepared for line ups getting into the restaurant!!!
Smaller dishes and worse cuts and portions at a higher cost. With the original owners I went there 2-3 times daily. Since the by out 3 times period. Will not be going back.
I've always enjoyed eating here. It's just like a home cooked meal. I just find lately it's extremely salty, both mashed potatoes and stuffing. Not enough to discourage me from eating there as often as possible. I luvs me that turkey dinner. Reminds me of Christmas time. Make sure to make a reservation on holidays it's packed because it's so good.
We had a booth in the centre of the restaurant. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered the festive turkey meal, kids sirloin, warehouse sandwich, liver and onions, hot chicken sandwich, with sides of mashed potatoes, onion rings and house salads. Everything was hot and tasted good. The free dessert with the kid's meal was a nice touch. I would recommend getting extra gravy for the sirloin and getting tomatoes and mayo for the warehouse sandwich as it can be kind of dry. Or request gravy with the sandwich. Overall the food was good but could be more flavourful. 4/5 stars.
Love this place! Jennifer our server was great, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the portions are huge, so go hungry. And if you haven't stuffed yourself, the desserts are heavenly ????. Try the rice pudding, you won't be disappointed. The wait was long but so worth it
Good home cooked, fresh food. Generous portions and decent prices. Friendly staff. A favorite for many years.
Teddy's is an Oshawa classic. Check the google notes to plan your visit as the wait can be from nothing to an hour. There is a sitdown counter if your looking for a quick bite or take out... No delivery service Two of my favorites A. Their house salad dressing. (They do sell to take home) B. Their strawberry pie
Unfortunately this place is slipping in food quality. The roast potatoes were not very good. They were in a thick tomato sauce instead of a juice. The veal is different and the new sauce is horrible. So very disappointed
Fabulous food staff very friendly although when busy the line up to get a table can be long on a busy hour of almost each day, weekend are crazy busy but its worth the wait. Tip the servers well, they work hard and put up with a lot of pressure behind the scenes. Thx for reading.
I ordered dinner on Saturday for early valentines day dinner. I was so excited, hadn't had teddys in a long time, very disappointed. I ordered pick up to be 7:30pm, I went in at 7:15pm and it was already on the counter waiting. My husband had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and peas. The turkey was hard and stringy, the mash potatoes had big chunks of potato not even mashed and his gravey tasted like cream of chicken soup. I got the chicken Parmigiano and it barely had any cheese on it, not much flavor. I was so totally disappointed that I will not be returning. Been going over 35+ years. Can't believe they went down hill so much.
Huge portions, great tasting food and very good prices!!
I felt like the Julian salad. Hot weather Covid etc. It failed ordered delivery took over an hour for 10 mins away. I am a senior so couldn't walk it or I would. $7.00 Drelivery charge. Salad was no way near regular size. Meat amount so much smaller and house dressing is definitely different. Sorry Teddys not going to have any need to order delivery or even dream of having a salad again.
Ordered the Family Platter Turkey Dinner. Huge portions of turkey (dark and white meat), stuffing, carrots and mashed potatoes, 2 soups, 2 salads, cranberry sauce and copious amounts of delish gravy to top everything! Great deal at $39.99 for a tasty traditional turkey dinner, add whole coconut pie for another $8.00
The food is what you’d expect from a diner. The staff are amazing. This is always an easy choice go to spot with kids.
I was with my relatives they asked me where a good place to eat was and I mentioned that Teddy's won the reader's choice award all the time, but this was the first time there, and it did not disappoint us. Very friendly staff, great food, and plenty of celebrity pictures on the walls. It all made for a great dinner. And speaking of dinner, I had the sirloin beef special which was almost perfect. Very tender, came with soup or salad (I had the beef vegetable soup), fries or mashed potatoes, and carrots or peas, and a huge bun. I only had half the bun as I didn't know that my entree would be so huge. I'll definitely be back as there's plenty more stuff on the menu that I want to try.
The food and prices are, bar none, the best value for dining out. Been coming here for many years and never disappointed. Staff is amazing. May be a lineup for 20 minutes but well worth the wait. Pies to die for. I am thrilled that new owners are keeping same staff and quality of food. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
The food here is great! Portions are large and it's fresh and hot. The staff are very friendly and the service was excellent. Only complaint is the bad smell coming from either dirty cloths used to wipe down or a dirty mop used for the floor. It could definitely use a good cleaning there.
Teddy's is by far the best family restaurant we have been to in Oshawa. The portions are ridiculously big (even the kids menu). The food always comes quickly and hot. The place is packed almost every day, but it never takes more than 20 mins to get a table. All the food is home cooked style. And if you still have room after your meal, indulge in one of their housemade pies (strawberry is my favorite). Note: they do not serve alcohol, so enjoying a pint with your meal doesn't happen here, but the food and service makes up for that. Prices are cheap for what you get. Family of four (2 kids, 2 adults) for under $70 including tax and tip. They even remembered is when we went back.
Teddy's is always a no-brainer for good food I don't think anybody could be disappointed
Staple of Oshawa dining right here. Honestly, a trip to the 'Shwa isn't complete without a Teddy's lunch or dinner.
Legendary spot, best corned beef this side of montreal. hint: ask for a fatty cut.
Had the Ground Beef dinner and it was delicious!
This is an old school deli/ diner. There’s not too many like this around in the area anymore. This is no fuss comfort food with friendly service. The prices are affordable and the portion sizes are not disappointing. We went for a later in the evening meal on a weekday and the restaurant was still full with tables consistently turning over... very impressive. The food was satisfying and what we actually went for was the there famous coconut cream pie. Needless to say that coconut cream pie craving was satisfied!
I have , like most people experienced restaurants world wide. What impresses me about Teddy's is the cleanliness from the washrooms to servers and open kitchen. The menu is great with generous portions of home cooked food that is fresh and delicious. If people are known by the company they keep then I say 'a company is known by the people it keeps", a good indicator of great management. Teddys staff of experienced friendly servers have been there a long time. Their friendly happy state of being make me feel at home always. The seating is great with sound absorbing ceilings and clean fresh carpeting throughout. This is important to me as most restaurants are noisy, and close tables. I feel overall Teddys is an extremely well managed restaurant with great food, great staff and warm ambience.
I love this place! Quick service, great food, big portions and it doesn't break the bank! I'm really impressed with how Teddy's is adapting to social distancing and maintaining cleanliness. Great job! I feel very safe when I visit. Thanks Teddys!!
Great service. Tasty food. Huge portion size. Friendly staff. All in all, worth every single penny!! :)
If I could give 0 stars, I would. I've gone here for a long, long time, ever since I was a kid (seriously, for as long as I can remember) and I swear it's slowly been going downhill. Their food is honestly overrated and definitely overpriced. The service is miserable and moody and very impatient it seems. I've had soggy sandwiches and salads to bland looking/tasting vegetables lately and it's really disappointing because it USED to be good. It always feels way too busy if you want to go in and sit down to eat (and even then its so chaotic that you can't actually enjoy your meal). My last experience with them though finally took them off my dinner list. Not only did they screw up the dinner order, but when I went to inform them of it via Facebook (because they were almost closed by the time we picked up our food) they basically laughed at me, called me a liar and proceeded to delete not one but two separate posts about it (the original and then just a small afterthought post saying how I wasn't impressed that they would just delete it like that). It just goes to show you how insanely unprofessional they are and how they just care about their public face and taking your money. Don't go here. There's PLENTY of other diners to go spend your money at.
Got Take Out for my first time at Teddy's and it was great! Our Reuben and fries was ready in about 15 minutes, the fries were hot and the Reuben was great -- their dill pickles are amazing too! Staff inside was very friendly and attentive. Only thing I would have changed is some mustard for the Reuben, but just make sure you ask for condiments on the online order form! Looking forward to visiting again. :)
Great food. Ordered take out and they said 15 minutes and I arrived in 15 minutes and it was ready and hot.
Just horrible. The server was extremly rude. The pop was flat and lacking syrup. The steak was chewy. Response To Owner: It was Dec 23 2020 at around 145pm. We both had steak on a kaiser. The pop was flat. no carbonation.
Omg...food was absolutely delicious. Food portion was generous, staff members were friendly, and the food... absolutely amazing. I got the Reuben sandwich. I teared up after the first bite. So juicy and bursting with flavours.
I don't know what happened to this place but it's not what it used to be. you can't even get a hamburger cooked to your desired doneness anymore. And the portion sizes seem to shrink every time I go especially in the takeout where they keep changing their containers. it used to be the go-to place for me now it's just a disappointment every time. They're higher prices do not justify the food anymore, you can get better value better food in a dozen restaurants in the surrounding area. Maybe its new owners for the past several years, I don't know and I don't care anymore because I won't be back.
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Their food is always fresh and prepared. Well. One of the favourite things that I love to hear is there roast beef. Sandwiches as an entree as a snack. It's all well-cooked and well-made. The staff are very friendly very courteous and very helpful. . The place is always neat and tidy and well taken care of. You will never be disappointed in the portions that you get when you're served.
BRING BACK OLD OWNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such a downgrade, all the promises of keeping it the same was a lie, the portions aren't the same , the prices went up , I wish the old owners still owned it , Mr.burger owners you have disappointed
Ordered 1hr early online for family lunch. Came in 5 mins early for pickup.. still order came out late 10 mins from pickup time. Total 15 mins wait....Too add more insult.. they missed the gravy on my mashed potato. Complete turn around from my last review..
Today I went to Teddy's with my mom and sister. We had car troubles and were stuck in oshawa for a few hours. Unfortunately due to covid everything is closed so but we were excited to ordered take out from Teddy's we hadn't been in a while and sat on an outdoor bench and had lunch.... normally when we go the service is good and we get great food. Today the people were unbelievable rude. My younger sister went in to ask for a couple small to go containers (so we were able to split the food and actually eat it) the lady at the counter was rude and said she would have to pay for them. After paying the prices there I am positive they did not need to charge for 2 take away containers. The lady gave her the smallest size they had and acted very inconvenienced. Food was ok, nothing like it normally is. Overall very unimpressed and disappointed.
Good parking, service, atmosphere, deli meats, pies and cakes. You might think it's a bit high priced but 1 sandwich dinner is enough for 2 adults to split.
Large portions! Best have an appetite going in! You definitely won't leave hungry! Great readying for, lots of variety on the menu! Great service!
Great service and tasty comfort food. The Reuben sandwich is our favourite.
Staff are so friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. Everything is in house freshly made. Usually a long wait if you don't go early but it is worth it! Prices are great. Food portions are huge. Desserts are fabulous! Always a GREAT experience whenever I go.
Long standing Oshawa restaurant with great food. There's something on the menu for everyone (vegetarian but not vegan), and the portion sizes are excellent. Serve turkey dinner all year round, and have amazing desserts. Recommend this place to anyone passing through, or anyone looking for a great meal at a good price.
As always the food was amazing, pie on usual teddys point, the service was meh...I'm a Heavy Equipment Mechanic so right after work picked up the wife I don't look the absolute best lol but anyways had to ask for every coffee butter for the bun etc etc.. first time in 20yrs I've ever had a bad experience.... normally tip 20 bucks everytime
Service
I had the spaghetti and the chicken parmesan. The chicken cutlet was fresh, crisp and executed well. The rest tasted like stale reheated freezer food. The meat sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee. And the entire thing was mostly noodles. It did not have enough sauce to spread on the noodles as it was a very skimpy portion. I will never order from here again. Very disappointed.
I was looking for a nice spot to have my lunch with my boss (we are not from Oshawa) and I googled the place. I have just finished eating the freshest salad and burger. My boss ordered fish fillet with fries and garden salad. It looked and tasted amazing. Everything is fresh and delicious. When I asked for the bill I almost fainted because the total for two meals and one juice was $34. Very cheap for this quality and quantity of a food! The place is very clean and cozy. It is old style but has a complete different inviting atmosphere. Whenever the business brings me back to Oshawa I Will definitely spend all my lunches here.
Tasty food, gigantic portions and a reasonable price point.
Honestly the food is literally just o.k. I do not see what all the fuss is about. I am frustrated that now fries and toppings for hamburgers all cost extra. (But when you look at the menu it says sides are extra but looking down at the sides section says fries included) So I spent 48 dollars on 2 hamburgers (NO fries) and 3 small peices of pie (which they dont even offer ice cream or whip cream anymore unless you pay extra) and went and bought frozen fries (to cook at home with the hamburgers) because an added almost 5 dollars for fries (per meal) is ridiculous. Oh and by the time we waited for the fries I had to replace all the toppings with stuff from my own fridge anyway because it was soggy and looked unappealing. Not a great experience and regretting not getting a full meal at McDonald's for way cheaper.
