Best breakfast and brunch downtown Oshawa. Will be hard to find better place! Delicious omelettes and huge burgers, wraps and sandwiches. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good for couples, family with kids and groups of friends. Expect a lineup... busy sometimes.

Amazing staff. Amazing food. I still have no idea why every other restaurant sells peameal bacon for so expensive that is so thin, but the rainbow sells thick slabs for the same price. 15 year customer that plans to return for years to come.

Favourite breakfast place, hands down in Durham Region! Historic building, lots of famous bums have sat in those seats, the staff is incredible and it's a very fast table turn over when it's busy. The decor shows their appreciation for their customers with hall of fame walls all over. The food is MASSIVE size and nothing on their menu fit for a king is over $25. Free refills even! ???? The food is amazing, the staff is amazing, the building is amazing, all the patrons are amazing, it's the best! Go with a big empty stomach because their omlettes start at 7 eggs!! Lol

Ugh, I hate to do this to a local restaurant that I normally love, but I have to let them know what was sent to me was unacceptable. I got farmers breakfast with scrambled eggs and cheese. The cheese was poured onto the scrambled eggs, making a scrambled egg patty with a cheese shield. I peeled the cold melted cheese off the eggs like a plastic Tupperware cover. Home fries were definitely past the best use date, it was super obvious that they had been in a fridge for a few days and reheated. The Western omelette had more onions then egg and bread. We did poke at it to look for green peppers and ham but gave up as it was just a onion with egg sandwich, inedible. Literally like biting into a whole cooked onion. I'm sad to write this, but I hope that this will help someone else who orders from there.

We used to order from the Rainbow on a fairly regular basis, but found that their home fries are consistently undercooked....which is unfortunate, since many of their dishes come with home fries and it puts a bit of a damper on the whole meal. If it weren't for that, we would have probably remained regular customers.

Absolutely top quality food & ingredients. You can go to any new fangled breakfast joint that has a flair with cutesy names for their entrees or you can go to a breakfast place that's been in business for as long as I've been living (that's a very long time) What does that tell you? That's right they are offering quality & doing something RIGHT! I had crispy premium bacon, French toast that is Devine with home fries. Recently I visited Dennys $57.00 for breakfast flimsy 2 pieces of bacon and French toast that would pass and frozen home fries??? I've learned my lesson! Stick to the restaurant that's been around for a lifetime and not a chain. Thank you Rainbow Restaurant in Oshawa for always serving up good homemade deliciousness! You are the stars the moon & my Rainbow forever????

Made a special trip from Richmond Hill to dine at this restaurant. So glad we did was definitely worth the drive. Food is fantastic, portions are HUGE and good value for the money. The decor is old diner style, really cool. Will be back !

Great food options and huge proportions! Everything is delicious here! Also well priced! They have a very nice and friendly team of staff, both in kitchen and on the floor. Their decoration is unique to their store, with tens of picture frames on the walls. It's a cozy place for families and even a casual date. The only issue is that they only accept cash.

Ordered the open faced hot roastbeef sandwich. The gravy was rich, the mashed potatoes super creamy and overall it was absolutely delicious! So stuffed..and had to take home some for later. 5 golden pans!! Lol

The BEST eggs Benedict I have ever had. The hollandaise sauce is so creamy and a delight for your taste buds. The peameal is huge and perfectly crispy. And the home fries are absolutely phenomenal. I cannot believe I have never tried this restaurant before! Will be ordering again and again.

This place is by far the best breakfast place I've had! I ordered through Ubereats and I was not disappointed at all. The eggs Benedict is amazing, I love their home fries (actually crispy). And very big portions! 1000% going to order from here again! (And probably very soon) Definitely recommend this place!

Everytime I come here I usually only come for gas and the food. i know there are plenty of other establishments in Oshawa, but everytime I arrive I always come here for a beautiful lunch. I would be surprised if someone came out of this family restaurant in the same shape they came in as. Everything on the menu is unbelievable and if you haven't tried the peameal bacon here, then you haven't actually had peameal bacon (It's MASSIVE)! Every Time I've eaten here I've had some of the best service in the food industry, this place is super family friendly and is just a great diner. Note for people who haven't eaten here before, the food not only has some of the best diner tastes, but the food is also MASSIVE. Goodluck to all!

Super cute place with a low key friendly atmosphere. Locally owned and operated. The portions were large and well presented! My husband got a burger so big he had to split it in half so it would fit in his mouth! They take cash or debit so be prepared.

I had a specialist appointment with my daughter recently, and decided to look for a breakfast spot nearby. The rainbow restaurant was within a 5 minute walking distance, so we decided to give it a try. I have a somewhat restricted diet, due to an auto immune disorder so breakfast is typically a safe bet when dining out anywhere. I ordered the bacon omelette with cheese. And I was NOT disappointed. My food looked delicious, and after the first bite, I literally did a happy dance in my seat! My daughter ordered French toast and she was just as happy. The prices were phenomenal, as well! I don’t know Oshawa very well, but I was grateful to find this little gem! When I was telling my friends about this place and the BEST BREAKFAST EVER, they seemed to know about it already, and laughed at me that I’ve never been! Great job rainbow restaurant. Your reputation seems to be shining bright! I will be happy to swing by next month when I’m back for a follow up with my daughter!

Truly the best breakfast places i have ever gone to! Everything on the menu looks amazing but I just can't take my eyes off the eggs benedict. 3 of the thickest slices of peameal bacon I have ever seen between perfectly poached eggs and English muffins. And some of the best homefries out there. Very friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere! This is a must go place to eat!

Without question the most detailed breakfast in oshawa . The plates are loaded with food . The home fries are actual cut and fried in house ,unlike most places who buy them and just fry . Massive portions of meat on even the most basic meal A rustic old building adds character and charm . The facility is smaller so it's usually packed because of the quality of the food so plan to come earily Staff are super friendly and are willing to do whatever it takes to make your meal exceptional

I picked this restaurant because of its' excellent reviews. I walked in early one morning. loud music was blaring, and the interior sure fit the description of a greasy spoon. I looked around for a seat that wasn't stained or torn up, no luck. The reason I gave this place a 2, instead of a one, is that the waitress was at least fast and served me quickly, although I was the only one there.She took my order quickly and was pleasant. I asked her about the classic egg benny and she said that it was her favourite so I trusted her that they could cook it right. I normally never eat fried potatoes but there were signs everywhere about how good theirs were so I chanced it. While I was waiting, I went to the basement bathroom. Along with the stained and torn seats, I started to worry about my meal as the bathroom was not very clean. My food came quickly but looked a little over cooked. My eggs were not done medium but were cooked hard which I do not like. The home fries, that were supposed to be so good, looked anemic , did not have that fryer crispiness one might expect, but instead were rather tasteless, soggy , pale, and full of grease- almost like the fryer was not hot enough perhaps. The waitress did not come back to ask me about my meal and she also forgot my water that I had asked for. There was a guy doing some type of loud repair work in the basement. I had brought a book to read but between the loud music and construction noises, it was impossible. I decided to try to eat the food anyway as I had to rush for an appointment. I started eating the benny and it was very over salted and as I said, the eggs and ham were over cooked. The hollandaise sauce did taste great though, for sure. I could not eat the home fries. I eventually lifted up the generous portions of pea meal bacon and the 2 English muffins underneath were absolutely soaked with grey grease. Maybe the same old grease that the potatoes were soaked in. It was so gross and my tummy started to feel upset. I decided that I needed to stop eating. The waitress finally came over to ask me how everything was, and started to remove my uneaten portions, but I could not be bothered saying anything as I did not want to order more food at this greasy dive. When I went to pay, she asked me again if everything was okay and I just nodded my head. Again, I knew I would not be coming back. My tummy kept hurting and then after about a half hour , my body quickly rejected the food that I had eaten, if you know what I mean. I won't go into details but you can catch my drift for sure. This is one place that does not live up to most of its reviews. Avoid it!

Again it's amazing place to come and it we had Barbarian which is the meat and potatoes. 3slices of peameal (check the pics ) 3 grilled ham 3 large farmer's sausages and 3 strips of bacon ( done perfectly) and a heaping of homefries . Check the pics. You have not breakfast until you come here. The Egg Benedict superb (Again check the pics) the prices are great the staff amazing the chef and cook Superior. It's a small cozy place .Gets busy so if there is a line wait it's well worth it. Coffee is good and don't forget to ask for the hot mustard.
