You know when someone tells you a restaurant is great, so you go and then it's not all that great? Well, that's not a problem here. The dishes here are all BETTER than you can imagine. I don't know how they make everything taste so great...or how they can afford to charge so little...or how to give you such big portions for such low prices.

The restaurant has more of a modern ambience than what i expected. The food was great - a thick cut off prime rib on my sandwich! The house dressing for the house salad was very tasty. The company i was with made the setting perfect, and thewaitress added to it as well.

Food was amazing! I recommend the bruschetta and the beef and mushroom risotto. Delicious! The only issue was that there were about three to four flies circling my head and my food, hard to control those pesky things though in a big place!

Went to engagement party where about 50 people attended... The service was on point! Both food and drinks arrived in a timely manner... The wait staff was very friendly, also had a wonderful friendly greeting at the door. Great cocktails and cold beer... Order the chicken spring rolls which were spectacular, all of the food around the table looked great. Will definitely be going back

Not your typical Pub joints, the menu alone was impressive and I "only" had the Wings & Ribs combo. The flavours, the portion size and the price was amazing. I can't wait to come back. Highly recommended.

This place never disappoints even with covid19 restrictions in place. Ordered todays Special online and it was ready at the pickup time. The food was fresh and hot by the time we arrived home. 3lbs wings, large fry, gravy, carrot and celery sticks with dipping sauce for $30. Keep up the good work Portly!!

Big fail, Portly. You just delivered to a hotel, and did not include cutlery. I even made sure I checked the box for cutlery, since I am IN A HOTEL. Who delivers food to a hotel with no cutlery?!? I am currently eating my spaghetti with a PEN. YOU DIDN'T EVEN PUT NAPKINS IN THE BAG!!! My cheesecake will be fun to eat! Be better!

Accessible parking and restaurant. Covid safety measures in place. Monica, our waitress, was exceptional. Monday: wing night; great prices; had dry rub garlic parmesan. Crispy, tasty, med sized wings. Julienne salad could have been shared by 2, it was so large, 1/2 taken home. Lasagna had the garlic cheese bread slices right on top, smothered in cheese, baked deliciousness. Caesar salad side had a lovely dressing. Liver, bacon & onions with whipped potatoes & broccoli stole the show...the heavenly sounds made by the person eating it, made me want to go back tomorrow and try it. Quick seating inside. There are 2 patios. Give it a try. You will be happy you did.

I was impressed with the service of our waitress Angela who helped our lunch group. She was prompt, friendly and efficient with our orders. I was impressed that she provided the additional charges for substitutions such as salads, or soups and dressing. This is a rarity in the restaurant industry where they will ask "would you like gravy?" and charge you $2 without letting you know. I would return again. This place ticks all the boxes. My only suggestion is to have the whole list of daily specials posted somewhere. I know the regular daily specials such as the wings & fries was posted, but the other ones the waitress listed were difficult to keep track of.

Had the suicide wings. Bravo, finally a restaurant that's not afraid to bring the heat! Wings were cooked to perfection, nice crunchy sticks, and a good blue cheese sauce. Great food, fair price.

Don't get the lobster tail or the rice option as per my husband. Other than that I loved everything about this place. Their website is super informative and accurate. Tons of options. If you cannot find something on their menu that you like then I suggest you take a long walk off a short pier. Party of 7 and we all enjoyed our meals, minus the lobster tail and rice ????❤ we shall be back! Chicken pot pie is literally the best I've ever had.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Even during a busy Saturday, we were seated immediately. Food was great staff was courteous. I was eating, I looked up and noticed my glass was empty. At that exact same moment, it was picked up and replaced with a new Coke. I even said to my girlfriend, it's like they read my mind. We will be returning.

spent $55.36 and received an ice cold Shepard pie had to microwave it , and received soggy calamari rings with peppers and jalapenos when specifically asked for no jalapenos or peppers overall i also received a liver order that was still pink and covered in mold spores!

We are there at least once a week. Food is always prepared quickly and is delicious. Service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Check out their lunch menu ! Try the Roast Beef Dip or the chicken pineapple salad. Both of them are amazing.

I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the staff treated us really well. I absolutely loved the food. I got a pound of wings and fries for super cheap too. Great deals! Amazing food. Cant really go wrong here. All apps are 50% off after 9!! Love this place.

PROS: Kitchen was super fast and our food came out in no time despite it being super busy. Food was tasty and hot and the portion sizes were fantastic. CONS: FOH staff looked stressed. I ordered steamed veggies and got veg covered in garlic butter. I assumed it was olive oil or something and ate it anyway foregoing what I assumed was a healthy option only realizing it was the butter after which gives me crazy acid reflux. The server apologized but there was no effort made to make it better.

What a great place to eat and the service was amazing we went for dinner on new years eve. I ordered the rack of lamb and my wife had the steak and lobster. We will definitely be going back The only issue we had was the spinach dip not to our liking but they give you lots of pitas bread and nachos.

This restaurant has always been my boyfriend and I's absolute favorite place to go until today. It was our first time visiting again since the beginning of the pandemic and we were so excited to finally return. We knew we had to wear masks until we reached our table which we did. The atmosphere walking in was tense and I figured maybe it was just because of the new protocols such as wearing masks and such but the hostess was not welcoming at all. She said she'd be with us shortly to take us to our tables but it was a very cold tone, and I know they're wearing masks but there was no smiling or friendly demeanor. When we were taken to our tables, we were greeted by a young waitress who immediately gave me the vibe that she did not want to be there. She seemed miserable and was very short with us. She mumbled when asking what we wanted to drink and when we ordered our food, she never responded (never acknowledged what we were ordering) or asked us follow up questions. For example, my boyfriend ordered mac n cheese which comes with garlic bread. She never asked if he wanted cheese on the bread and he forgot that was an option and so he was disappointed that he wasn't asked as he would've said yes to it. From beginning to end, the waitress was overall very unfriendly. One positive thing I can say is that she refilled our drinks when they were empty which a lot of times, we're lucky to get so that was nice at least. The spinach dip recipe must have changed because it used to be a favorite and we will never get it again. First off, it didn't look like spinach dip, it looked like cream of broccoli soup that had some spinach leaves thrown in, then topped with cheese on like a quarter of the dish. The pita bread was burnt to a crisp so we stuck to the chips but the dip tasted old like it had been frozen and reheated. Our entrees were good enough, the lattice fries were absolutely amazing but what really ruined things for us was the constant swatting of flies with each bite of our food. I remember peering down at my food and then looking up to swat a fly away realizing there were literally 6 flies hovering around our entire table. I tried not to be judgmental of it as the patio is being used a lot more so flies are getting more of a chance to get in but the amount of flies around coupled with the other issues we had has completely ruined this restaurant for us. Because this used to be our favorite restaurant, I'm not going to say we'll never return but we will not be back for a very long time.

I was here a couple Saturdays ago with 2 friends of mine. My friends liked their dishes, and mine was fine for the most part. This place gets a good review from me because our waitress was very nice, friendly, and polite. I left an excellent tip for that because good service is rare.

Nice atmosphere, and very nice looking inside! We showed up and had a bit of a wait. Lots of people inside - definitely a good sign. We had a hankering for some wings and ordered three different flavours. Cajun garlic was the better of the three for sure. Server was excellent, we enjoyed our visit overall.

Great pub, modern, clean, friendly staff and delicious food. Seriously impressed with the selection and quality of food. Every table has a tv and there are large screens all around the bar with various sports playing. Just had to knock of a star for location, on a busy road with a not so great view.

I have been going to the Ajax location for many years. Its nice to have a second option. Same great food and atmosphere. Parking is limited but there is a large plaza across the road to supplement. A little quieter than the Ajax location. Now serving breakfast.

I wouldn't even give this place one star. I ordered my food they said 20-30 min. At ten to seven, I along with two other patrons order. We watched 73 uber and skipthedishes orders go out before our meals even came up. Even two of the delivery drivers questioned why I was still there on both occasions they returned to pick up orders for their delivery. They finally gave me my order at quarter after 8. When I got home I discovered my food was cold. The condiments were rotted and the hamburger patty was not as per its description its your average frozen store bought patty. When we called in to complain the manager refused to acknowledge the error of time or apologies about the wait, refused to exchange the food, or give us our money back, and was quite rude he even told us not to bring the food back cuz he didn't want anyone else to know their was bad food made. This place is a complete disgrace

Very disappointed in the food, safety and service. I have eaten here before covid once and the quality and service was much better. However I will not return again or recommend this resteraunt to anyone. With covid I expect the care and cleanliness to be in place. I have been to a couple restaurants since they have been allowed to open and was extremely impressed at the concern to keep everyone safe. Service was very subpar from the hostess to the wait staff. From the initial greeting that lack any type of warmth or welcome when I said I was meeting a group and they had already arrived. I gave the names and all I got was a nope no one here by that name and offered no help after that. I mentioned that I guess they didnt leave a name but I knew my husband had arrived, I got whatever then go out and look for them. The hostesses attutide was wanting to be anywhere but there and there was no line up or stress of being overwhelmed by too many people. Food/cleanliness- I ordered nachos for the table, when they brought the sides plates for everyone and I lifted off the top plate the second was covered with food, not a little but the whole plate with guacamole. She aplogized and got new ones. Halfway threw the nachos I found I long black hair in the salsa. Noone at the table has black hair.And asked them to take them back. My burger came it seemed okay but I was worried about it being safe after 2 clear health violations. Then very disappointed there was more filler in my burger than beef. It completely crumbled off the bun into small pieces and was all filler. I had about 3 bites and didnt eat anymore because of the concern of what it was made out of because it obviously wasn't beef. A burger is not off white in colour. The other 3 in my group had wings so I think theirs were okay but I was so embarrassed about having to point out constant issues I just didn't bother anymore on the burger. All the manger did was not charge us for the nachos, no offer of anything else. I left paying $142.00 and had to go home and make dinner. This is the first time I have ever left a bad review. But I would not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances on the quality, service or safety.

I really enjoyed coming to this place, the food is so good albeit waiting in line for almost half an hour before I could get a table. But the ambiance and the food was worth the wait. Definitely recommend it!

A really great concept. Very nice decor and very clean. Large menu with lots of selection. Prices are very fair and the service was friendly and fun. A great place for wings and a pint- even pasta! I had the chicken carbonara and loved it. My boyfriend had the Mexican hot wings and really enjoyed them. We left very happy!

I love this place and missed it when it was not open now we are able to go again sit on the extended patio weather permitting abs inside distancing tables set up vet well. The menu has been replaced by throw away paper menu and the staff all wear masks and are just as polite and helpful as before. The food is still amazing, love the fajitas and the chicken wings, Favourites But everybody dishes look great and satisfied faces on the other parties tells the story. The only thing I would suggest Going forward is to make everyone aware that if you leave your table you have to wear a mask to the washroom bar etc. I noticed one table last night when We were there the parties got up went to the washroom or left table without masks. One attempt to we wear it but left it on the chair behind him. They were not approached to be reminded To wear a mask. Posters around to remind parties to this and at the door when signing in to let them know. That the only issue I had and hope I don’t see this happen again i was uncomfortable seeing this abs shocked they didn’t do this automatically. They did however leave with masks. No other issues the place is clean and friendly fun sports was on a all tables. X on distancing tables. Washroom clean well managed. Love the disposable away menu this sure helps. A definite favourite spot of ours.

I ordered food for delivery from this location. When the delivery driver arrived, he noticed that a container was cracked and our food had leaked out all over the bag. He asked the waitress to remake the dish and repackage the other meal to clean up the mess. The waitress refused and so did the manager. He had to argue with them for over 10 minutes to get them to remake the dish. However, when the food arrived, it was delicious.

I believe this place is newer and has just opened. The growing pains showed a little bit. Some of our orders were incorrect and there seemed to be some miscommunication between the servers and kitchen. The food was a bit of a wait for it to be served but it was clearly busy and we were there on a Sunday afternoon which is probably a peak time. The menu has a nice variety and the food was tasty. Our main server was super-friendly and professional. The layout of the restaurant was great, with ample types of seating options.

Very crowded 6pm on Sunday. 25 minute wait and hostess was very accurate on the time. Seated and served drinks in less than a minute. Very awesome, waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu and even offered recommendations. Food was perfect. Portions were very large and the flavors were above expectations. It was a perfect dining experience in the most crowded restaurant atmosphere I've experienced in a long time. Very professional and hospitality made the dining experience awesome. Would highly recommend.

The parking lot is a literal atrocity. That being said, they would have earned 5 stars if it were not for the parking. Food was reasonably priced and quite a variety of options for a pub. Service was good and it has a great atmosphere. I would recommend visiting on off hours if you're driving

I have not dined in this restaurant personally but I have the opportunity to visit the kitchen at the back almost every day as a delivery man. Been to many places, seen many kitchen and the things customers don't see. This restaurant is doing pretty well in terms of keeping everything clean when preparing food. Also the staff is friendly. Good looking restuarant from the inside. Looking forward to dinning here. Food is kinda expensive.

Great food just too busy to enjoy a nice peacefull dinner. Food is a decent price for the quantity and the quality was great. I got the seafood linguini and disappointed to only get one scallop I would have gladly sacrificed a couple of the many muddled for one more scallop. All in all the good was worth the price and our waiter was friendly.

The menu selection is incredible! Had the Caprese salad... Was not expecting the size to be as big as it was! So filling and delicious. Everything fresh. Steak ordered mid rare, came out perfecto. Barely touched the wings I ordered with my salad thinking it was not going to be filling. Wish the patio was bigger. They make a mean Caesar too!

We visited this restaurant for the first time based on the recommendation of a friend. We were seated quickly, and service was great. I had the Tapas Grill which I loved. Hubby had the Spicy Stir Fry which he loved. Atmosphere was lively and would be especially fun for sports fans. One major glaring issue is COVID protocol. I saw one adult patron hit the bathroom, walking around with no mask. There was a group with several children - these kids were walking around, standing at their table all without their masks. I did speak to Mgmt about it. I felt the Mgr could have been more responsive. Loved the food and the atmosphere but not sure I recommend it based on so-so COVID protocol.

This is my parents favorite Pub. The food is exceptional and the service is generally fast even on busy days. The washroom and dining area are always kept clean. Sometimes it takes a while to get a server's attention and I've had an order or two forgotten but that's a minor gripe.

Food was amazing: I had the rib and wing combo with frings. Loved it! Only issues I had were: 1. that they mixed up the wing orders. 2. I didn't order frings. One guy at the table ordered rib and wings with fries. He ordered the hot and honey sauces. I ordered rib and wings with onion rings. I ordered buffalo ranch sauces. There were only three of us at the table. However, we were all talking about how good frings are so I can understand the mix up. Seriously, what's not to love about fries and onion rings?! Overall, another great experience at the Portly. I would still recommend this place to everyone.

My husband & I enjoyed a lovely afternoon meal on the patio today. The decor was nice, washrooms were clean. Our server Alicia was attentive but not annoying (which is the perfect mix) & our table was cleared frequently & pop refills were quick. Food was delicious & came quickly. We had the potato bacon soup, the California Club with sweet potato fries & the Buffalo wrap with fries & gravy. We recommend it all. Delicious! We will be back.

Arrived just after 2 on a Thursday for a late lunch. Service was good, food was VERY good. Except for the soggy onion rings. They took a second shot at it and the rings were nice and crispy. I had the Tapas plate which was excellent and my friend had the club sandwich with fries which quite good also.

This place is AWESOME. The prices are extremely reasonable, the staff are incredibly friendly and the food was dow right fantastic. The portion sizes were beyond expectations and 100% delicious. Zero complaints. The menu had a range of pub foods, and other items not typically seen on a pub menu. The building itself is very new, and it shows on the inside that they spared no expense in making this place have a little more class. 10/10 experience and I look forward to visiting again the future. If the owners of this establishment are reading this: pay your staff well and keep them happy. If you can maintain this level of customer service you're bound to make big bucks. Good job.

Menu is kind of all over the place. They have everything from Asian food to pub food. Which comes across as confused and unfocused. I had the jalapeno shrimp which wasn't that amazing. The jalapeno completely overpowered the shrimp. Service however was good and aesthetic/atmosphere is nice.

I am a Skip the Dishes driver and come here often to delivery food. Customers tell me how good it is and the kitchen staff is awesome! I have had the privilege of seeing the fresh food and the care taken to prepare things like a homemade meal. I decided to make a reservation for my family of 10 this past Saturday night and they not only worked me into an extremely busy night as there were 2 other large parties coming in for dinner, but gave us outstanding service! My Mother is a challenge to take anywhere and was rude to a server. The server handled it with incredible professionalism and grace and by the end of the night, had her smiling...hahhaha!! Food was top notch, along with the service. I will be back soon :)

Good service, great food. They offer a comfortable atmosphere with pleasent waiting staff. The portions are good for most dishes, it can get very busy though. Unfortunately I have to update this review. On a Sunday evening that was not busy I was served the wrong beer, I asked the server and she insisted based off the color she could tell my beer was correct. I wasn't going to make a deal about it, however the service only got worse. We were asked only once if we needed anything else and it seemed like our server Lyndsey was avoiding the table completely. From 4 stars to 2 based on the poor service and unwillingness to help.

This place is my go to place for pub food. I had the rib and wing combo and the wings were big and delicious. The ribs were fall off the bone. The fries had an extra coating to make them crunchy and seasoned. The coleslaw was seasoned very well. I would recommend this pub for anyone craving pub food.

It was good. We got the Seafood Linguine and the Santa Fe steak. The steak was a little chewy, but was made medium rare as I asked. Mashed potatoes a little plain, veg was good. I had asked for a second glass of wine, saying I would need one when this was empty (I was almost done my glass), but she only swung by maybe 20 mins later, at which point I had moved on. Slow on the service but she was still nice. Covid related: they get your name and number at the door, and text you when they have your table ready, so you can wait in your car. Overall was alright, would have expected more but it's ok.

I was expecting more of this place. When we first got seated, we were then told to move a few minutes later because they were disorganized and sat us where a reservation would be. After we were moved, our server was rude and didn't use much effort to keep our drinks refilled. She didn't really seem to care about anything. In addition, I had heard that their fries were very good, but I was disappointed and found them undercooked. The rest of their food was average, but the prices weren't bad. It wasn't necessarily an awful experience, but I won't go again.

I totally recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area- we come here all the time since the food is always so good. Even though the menu is very large, they seem to do every item quite well. My go-to is the wings since their sauces and dips are delicious. Lots of TVs and the beer is a good price, so you can’t go wrong. The staff is kind and attentive even though it always seems to be busy.

Very busy location but the staff are so kind you don’t really notice how long you’re waiting. The staff were so accommodating and kind! I try to be as eco-friendly as possible so when they brought my drink out with no straw, a massive smile spread across my face! The appetizers were not the greatest but the entrees were fantastic. I had ordered the fajita wrap with no meat, it was delicious! The one thing I would have to critique is the fact the put an entire onion in my wrap. It was delicious nonetheless but I still had to remove so much onion.

Covid-19 response/ cleanliness. - The restaurant is only having people eat outdoors in there make shift patio. Looks to be spaced properly. Service outside appears very well managed. Call to book if your eating in. Take out is very fast and easy. Actively monitoring how they handle everything. I say this is 4.5 stars. 2. Food. -normally they have a wide variety of great meals. I would normally want to order a different meal as I want to try and experience new foods. However due to being take out I got my normal enjoyment. LOBSTER MAC N CHEESE w/ garlic bread added. I was a bit disappointed with how it looks. As seen in the photo. The Mac n cheese tasted pretty good as expected but didn't look as good by appearance. But as take out thats can be expected. The garlic bread was disappointing as seen in the photo but tasted alright just not enough of it. 4 stars. 3. General experience. - ill keep this one short. Generally I think the whole overall was 4 stars. I definitely still recommend this restaurant and still love it. This is only lower due to circumstances and I know once covid is over that they will blow my mind again with a fantastic experience the next time. I recommend this if you are wanting great food! ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐

This is a great little pub. The service is friendly and the meals are good. The portion size is perfect and food is served promptly. The parking lot however is quite small so often you have to park in overflow parking further in the back. It can get tight to find a spot especially if you have a larger vehicle. It can be easier to just park a cross the street and walk over.

The portions are quite large, and the food is very tasty. It's a bit too loud in the restaurant for my liking, but I think that was due to the large amount of people all yelling at once and not because of the music. I would definitely go again! I've waited both times I've been there to be seated (Saturday and Wednesday night, around 6:30pm) so go before you're starving.

I personally really like the Irish Nachos, which after a certain time are half-price! I eat here all the time and it's truly one of, if not THE best restaurant I've ever been to. Highly disappointed, we wanted to support a local business during these times, but yet again another let down. Not cooked Philly steak , spinach and artichoke dip made with huge pieces of spinach and the cheese in top not melted at all. We also got mozzarella sticks which anyone would assume would not be spicy unfortunately I took a bite and it was very spicy I unfortunately cannot eat spicy food dude to having Crohn's disease so this was theory discerning for me because I was really looking forward to this. it would be a great thing if you indicated on the menu if something was spicy.

Always very busy, but for a very good reason! Good food, good selection, reasonable prices, wing specials almost every day. I come here quite frequently and rarely have any problems, and when problems do arise, they’re typically taken care of properly. Place is quite large, although parking can be a challenge. Recommend to come early or late to avoid the daily line. If you’re coming to watch sports, most of the TVs seem to have a horrible colour cast and likely need to be replaced or adjusted by someone competent.

Last night was the first time that we have ever tried this restaurant. I had heard so many good reviews. Unfortunely that was not our experience. After waiting in line for almost 30mns we were seated. Our drinks were brought quick and we were able to order quickly because of all the time that we had to review the menu in line. We both ordered the steak and lobster. Presentation was great. Not so much the food, steak specifically. I ordered medium rare which came well. The server offered to have a new one done, as did your manager on duty. My issue with that is the fact that I have been up since 4:45am, worked all day, already spent enough time there waiting . My partners steak was perfect, so he shared his with me. The vegetable on both our plates were less than cooked and the potatos we cool at best and lobster quite over cooked. We got into a conversation about birthdays with our server, and I mentioned that THIS was supposed to be my birthday dinner as my birthday was on Monday. She offered me a birthday brownie. I said oh thanks that would be awesome, but can I get it to go as I really just want to go home. She said no sorry that isnt allowed. At that point I thought WOW.... after all that. In theory I could have cost you food costs of 2 entire meals had I sent them back. In short a very very disappointing experience. I wish we had went to Chucks for a 1/3 of the price, cheaper beer and better food.

Was my first time eating here today with my mom for lunch. Food was awesome and the menu was extensive! Nearing the end of our stay the waitress completely dissapeared. When she finally came back she told us she was gone for so long because she had to do her side duties. I always thought the table was more important than the ketchup bottles. Guess not.

I went with five other people and all enjoyed their food. I ordered the liver and I've definitely had better. Update: I have been several times for takeout in the last 18 months. Unfortunately they always seem to make a mild to moderate mistake in the order. From a forgotten sauce to mixing up the order. It's always something.

Extremely rude and bad customer service. I called to check if there is availability to come in and the staff on the phone kept saying "first come, first serve". I asked again if I can come in now or if they are busy, he just kept saying first come, first serve. I went there and it was full. They were so busy. I waited at the host stand for more than 15min and there were people lining up behind me. All the staff there ignored us and other guests lined up behind me. Great to see a local business getting so busy especially during this period, but it was very unpleasant experience. If the guy on the phone simply said 'we are busy right now' instead of keep saying 'first come, first serve', it would save me a lot of time.

Called in a larger order ($175) for pick up, when I got home I realized we were missing someone's meal. Called back and said it wasn't given to us, the person said come back and we'll make one. I asked to be rufunded or gift card as we ordered enough appetizers the person would just have them. The manager would not. I told them I'm coming in. They made the burger and refused to refund. Only offering 50% off. I argued after spending that much, I just want the person to be able to enjoy their Christmas lunch from work. Still offering just 50%. Pretty disappointing seeing them branch to Oshawa and loose their customer service which was much better in ajax.

First time trying this place was through Uber eats.I happened to see this restaurant while waiting to see my massage therapist next door. Based on other reviews I decided to try it. First time ordering was the seafood Linguini and it was amazing. Today my hubby and I decided to go in the restaurant for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. Staff was friendly, always checked-in and made sure everything was good. The food portions are pretty big and well worth it. Appetizers alone would fill you. We ordered the Steak and Lobster & the Chicken Carbonara Overall absolutely love this place and will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

Coming to Portly Piper is always an experience that will tantalize your senses. The wait staff makes you feel important, and they will hand-over backwards to make your experience there a wonderful one. Now the food is out-of-this-world in taste and appearance. Used to be my favourite go-to restaurant and I considered it the best one in Oshawa until recently. I came on a busy Saturday night and expected there to be a wait. I was with a group of 5, put our name on the wait list and patiently waited to be seated. Several groups came in after us and the entrance was fairly crowded. The hostess called for party of 6 to be seated, who had arrived much later than we did. I asked the hostess why they were seated first as we should have been next on the list and she told me that "the table was bigger and can seat 6." We were finally called to be seated an hour later and we were squished in at a 4 top table to have dinner. I addressed the issue with one of the managers and he disregarded what I had to say. Our waitress Lindsey provided excellent service and even grabbed an extra table when she noticed one of our members eating her dinner on her lap as there was no space for all our plates. Near the end of our meal, a different manager approached us, who was much more professional and understanding. He apologized for our experience and offered a discount for our meal. We would have appreciated it if the first manager we spoke with came by to offer an apology, but he was not to be seen after our first encounter. Their food is still really good but after that experience, I don't think I will be making as many visits here as I have been before.

We visited on a Saturday night. It wasn't crazy busy and we had a table of 7. I've heard people rave about the food here so I was excited to try it but it was just okay. There was no flavour to the shrimp fajitas and there was 6 shrimp served. Burger was fine, nothing special. There is way to much on the menu to do things really well in my opinion. The service was sooo so bad. We had to go look for our server multiple times and we aren't even demanding people.

Beef was tough ... In the beef Yorkshire dish... Yorkshire pudding was dry... For a chicken dish the gravy was a beef/chicken mixture then I received fish tacos. Fish was great but the lettuce filler was too much

The food overall was really good from freshness, display and of course the flavors. I saw that they rack of lamb and could not say no. Nice portion and the taste was excellent. My husband and I decided to go here after my father-in-law suggested it as he is a regular customer and it's one of his favorite places to go. They had a special on for a pound of wings and a beer so we got wings and another appetizer to start. I can't remember the name of the appetizer but it was a Thai chicken strip dish and it was really excellent and my husband said the wings were the best he's ever had. We both had burgers and they were huge and delicious. The food was amazing all around. The only issue we had was handled better than any other restaurant I've been to. When the burgers were brought out to our table there was a small thread on my husband's burger but it appeared as though it was from packaging from something in the kitchen and we deducted that it wasn't a big deal so he picked it out and ate the burger anyway. I mean this thread was tiny. I've worked in restaurants for years and understand that sometimes things get missed. After our meal, when we were about to pay, we mentioned it to the waitress so she could tell the kitchen staff. We were not upset by any means and he ate the burger (which was amazing) despite the thread so we didn't ask for it to come off the bill. Without hesitation the server notified the manager who then came over to our table to formally apologize and took the burger off of our bill. We were amazed. They were so professional! We had an excellent experience here and will be back.

Severely disappointed with what we ordered tonight...2 out of the 3 dinners were inedible. The Reuben was thick, grissly pieces of meat which you could not bit into, and the vegetable pad thai was so spicy (hot spicy) that it caused my lips/mouth and gums to burn. On description it says tangy not spicy. When I spoke to manager it was dismissed as "well nobody else has complained about it" and told I can have 50% of another dish when I order again. I Will not order again.

A month ago, I would’ve given 5 stars. However, they have had some issues as of recent which is pretty disappointing. The spinach dip used to be awesome, but lately it has the consistency of baby food, and the cheese is hard and burnt. The jambalaya is delicious, but expect to only get 2-3 pieces of shrimp. Even when you ask for more and offer to pay more, they do not give them to you. As a customer, it’s extremely frustrating to ask for something and to be willing to pay extra, only to not get it. The garlic bread is also sadly tiny. If they could rectify these things, they would gain back their stars! Previously I have had no issues, and I really hope they step their game up again, because this used to be my go to food place! :(

Portly is a fave in Durham! Great staff, great food, reasonable prices. We always get the spinach dip and tried some veggie pad Thai and fettuccine Alfredo tonight. The patio is covered and comfy with some string lights. The tables are far enough apart that we felt safe during early stages of reopening. We always leave stuffed and happy.

The wings are to die for!!!! My wife and myself ordered the deepfried plater. The food was excellent....... I was a bit disappointed in the amount of food we got for the price. It seemed like it was mostly fries and onion rings. Two pieces of garlic bread and two of pretty much everything. We have ordered platers from other places and got four of each side. I still will order fr here as like I said the food is still excellent.

Mediocre. I ordered their spinach beet salad and here’s their recipe: dump spinach from commercial bag, don’t worry about stems or wet wilted pieces. Add huge chunks of red onion. Dump in some beets, commercially prepared, let the customer cut into eatable size. Toss in one big chunk of goat cheese (let the customer cut it up) and a few walnuts. Let the customer put the salad together. Everything about this “salad” screamed “directly out of a commercial package”. They couldn’t be bothered to marinate the beets or freshly toast the walnuts. It’s essentially like every other restaurant that serves food anybody can make in their own kitchen after a trip to the grocery store. Lazy.

Wow!!! Ok this place came highly recommend and it didn't disappoint. Lots of good information on line, easy in and out with plenty of parking, good solid COVID protocols throughout. Seated quickly and our server Claudia was great, brought us water and fresh glasses without being asked. Told us that most things were made in house and it showed. Provided us with great recommendations, we had wings, ribs, seafood risotto and apple crumble. Wings were hot, fresh and perfectly seasoned. Ribs were fall off the bone tender, salad had lovely presentation and the balsamic vinegar dressing was nice and thick. But the Seafood Risotto!! The best I have ever had, lots and I mean lots of seafood in the dish. 15+ mussels, plenty of shrimp and scallops, the risotto was seasoned and tasted like being on the seashore! The apple crumble was clearly made in house, lite crust, not overly sweet with caramel and ice cream. The atmosphere was very nice, good subtle music and good selection of beer. To top it off, reasonable price. Have to come back in December and we will be back.

Decent spot, perhaps a tad over priced for a couple of dishes but DEFINITELY when it comes to the ‘Roasted Beet Salad’. It was honestly just a pile of ingredients, not whatsoever incorporated. A huge pile of spinach with many spoiled pieces, just a massive chunk of goat cheese (I’d never complain about too much cheese but it was literally the size of a baseball), half an avocado that wasn’t even sliced, some onions and other bits and then a huge pile of beets that really appeared to be straight from a jar and warmed in a microwave - not a chance they’d been roasted. It had our entire table completely puzzled.

The first time I went into the restaurant. I ordered a steak which was terrible, it looked like it was cooked under a heat lamp and the mashed potatoes were rock hard. Tonight (11/25/21) I ordered a burger with poutine for takeout. The poutine was ok, but the burger was not. It was over cooked and smushed in the take out box. Will not be eating there ever again. Can not recommend this restaurant to anyone in good faith. Very disappointed.

Food was good, but service was so slow I had to get to go boxes to not miss an appointment. Had to seat ourselves and then the Manager moved us to an almost identical spot ( we had a party of 7 for lunch) . Tried going in another time for dinner and huge line no staff at the front to explain or take seat request. We left. Another time we went in with a party of nine and they got upset we did not make a reservation. Can't reserve for less than 12 people.

Portly Piper Pub Oshawa was just... ok. I really wanted to love it, but couldn't... yet. Covid restrictions in place and practiced, patios and decks only, our group ate separately on the patio- picnic tables and pub tables set out in a closed off portion of the parking lot beneath tents and umbrellas; a little too dusty for our liking. Still, the food presented well and came in good size portions, but the taste and flavour was bland, and all members of our group agreed despite everyone having chosen different meals. Being kind, well chalk these somewhat unsavory meals up to the virus constraints, and we will revisit Portly Piper for another go-round when Covid is finally over. The restaurant is roomy, casual and well-decorated. Must wait to be seated, it offers a varied menu- salads, chicken, fish, steaks, Canadian, Mexican, Asian fused meals. Free parking, wheelchair accessible parking, and wheelchair accessible entry with assistance. Located ground level right off of King St, it's surrounded by strip-plazas, Timmies and more.

i order the wing combo with a Caesar salad often. Generally pretty good but tonight the dressing with salad was so runny and gross. i have ordered plently of times so the standard is a creamy sauce. this was not what is normally served. the second i poured i knew something was wrong. gross!

Food is not the greatest! Rather than going out for our Wedding Anniversary, we decided to order in. I Ordered an Antipasto Seafood Dish and nothing was good. The Calamari was extremely overcooked and as chewy as gum, the muscles were very fishy and when cooked in a European sauce - should not be fishy, garlic bread was as hard as a rock and the sauce was beyond spicy. My Husband ordered a Seafood Pasta Dish.... I don't even want to talk about this dish and what we found in it but anyway.

Didn't realize how much space this restaurant had. Chicken wing special was worth the trip....fantastic wings. I hope they keep this consistent because many restaurants are iffy and I won't go back. The restaurant was designed to be noisy to give impression that it's busy and fun. Wish they wouldn't do that because it can get very irritating. My stay was shorter because of the noise. Not a place I would go with a group, you couldn't hear the person next to you (well, not literally but it's freaking loud).

It was our first time ordering from Portly and the service was great and also the food was as well. We ordered wings because we love some good wings and they came as a recommendation for great wings. The community was right! We also order their Hawaiian chicken sandwich that was good as well. My only disappointment was the taste of their ranch and dill dressing. They were also very liquidity which we never ended using them but that was just a small part to our dinner order. We will be ordering again from them soon

Ordered some dinner for pick up. Got there at the time it said it would be available, waited 40mins with only 1 person to acknowledge me and that was for payment. Got my food, took it home. 1. Spinach dip was cold and cheese was hard 2. Beef dip gravy was completely empty and spilt all throughout the bag and all over the containers 3. Got a soggy poutine instead of onion rings with one of the orders. Fortunately the wings were great, no complaints there. But the service was ridiculous (and I understand it's hard right now but I wouldve been better off to grab a table with that amount of waiting time and lack of service)

I am deeply concerned with the quality and practise of this restaurant. I ordered a drink from the bar. After noticing there was a chip and crack in the glass, I had asked our waitress if it would be alright to remake it being afraid of any glass in the drink (not likely) but certainly not worth the chance. I put my half eaten skewer back in the broken cup and passed the glass back to the waitress. The waitress came back to the table with what she said was a new drink. Only to find the same skewer, same drink poured into a new unbroken glass. I can’t understand why they would find it acceptable to take this chance with their costumers. So disappointed. They should really be more careful with people.

Nice Pub good restaurant servers are quite friendly the layout of the building is nice I wish there was more patio space but the patio that is currently there is nice to the menu is very big but what we did eat was amazing tasteful it look great it smoke great there was a lot on your plate they don't definitely undersized it I found the alcohol prices to be reasonable and the people that we met there were great friendly too I think it's a great location it's in walking distance for us easy Transit there if you have two lots of parking I'd have to say we definitely will be back I had the lamb burger which was great my partner had Seafood risotto which was also amazing for anyone that wants something close by quick fast great taste great atmosphere this is the place to be

First and last impression. I don’t understand the hipe with this place. I ordered steak( medium well) and lobster dinner. The steak was so over cooked that it tasted like sand there was no flavour left. The lobster was overcooked and gummy. The vegetables were raw as well. How can you send a plate like that out??? Especially when it costs $26 dollars. I am absolutely unimpressed and will not be back. The waitress told me that there is always different people in the kitchen cooking, so where is the quality assurance and consistency. There is none. At the end of the day don’t sell steak and lobster if your cooks cannot cook it properly and to what the customer has requested.

I was surprised at how large this pub is, based on what I saw from the outside! Very clean, incredibly large menu and the food was delicious. My only complaint was that the small booth seating near the back is TINY, with servers constantly walking past. I enjoy a more intimate, private setting for dinner, so those seats weren’t the greatest. They were busy however so I’m sure some other seats elsewhere would have been better. Would still go back!

Went here with my girlfriend tonight, the food was incredible and our waitress was great! She was super quick and efficient. I’ve heard they kind of rush you here but if you let them know you kind of want to sit for a while they’ll definitely let you take your time, and that’s what we did. Definitely recommend the Cajun-ranch wings and the seafood linguine. The atmosphere was also busy (not too busy but bumpin), fun and overall a great environment. Will definitely be coming back here!

A very poor experience at a usual fave. Their recent menu change got rid of several vegetarian and vegan options such as the grilled veggie sandwich and the lettuce wraps. We asked to modify certain items such as a pasta without cheese but were told that all pasta contain eggs and were thus served a tasteless pasta dish made with rice noodles. We asked to have 1/2 of the nachos without cheese to accommodate a vegan in our group but we were told this wasn't possible? Won't be coming back.

Looks - Very impressed with the place from the minute walking in. The atmosphere is very busy and enjoyable. Tons of screens throughout the place with personal screens in booths, awesome. Tried some great new beer on tap so good. Food was FANTASTIC. Had the seafood bowl I believe it was called - so delicious and great portions. Loved this place and think it may be our new favourite go-to place if they continue the way they're going. Like others, I did find the service a bit on the slow side. It took a while for the server to come over just to take the drinks order - they should improve this so the customer knows they're being taken care of and sets the tone right away - and this did set the tone since server visits to the table was scarce throughout the meal and inattentive. Thankfully the meal was good and the place looked great but I can see how service will really bother some people if they're already having a gruddy day. Improve this part and this place could be a good 5 stars.

Every time we order from this place there's a mistake or the food is horrible. The first time we ordered they forgot an entire meal we had to call and go back for it. The staff wasn't overly apologetic but whatever mistakes happen. The next time I ordered, I got the liver and onions. I noticed my liver had a weird flavor to it. Upon investigation I found pieces of under cooked fajita chicken mixed in with it. Tonight we decided to give them one last chance. We orderd from there got home and in true portly fashion they again left out a whole meal. They really need to get it together there.

We are regular customers. Have typically been very pleased with the food. Tonight we ordered the kids mac and cheese. We were very disappointed to find it's Kraft Dinner with shredded cheese on top. If we wanted KD, we would have opened a box at home. I have noticed the quality of food has gone down in some aspects. Not impressed.
