The BEST Indian in Orillia (and Barrie). I recently moved to Orillia from Barrie and have already order a handful of times from 5 Rivers. Their customer service is excellent! The FOOD just incredible, true Indian spices and flavour. I lived in Barrie for years and 5 Rivers surpasses any Indian Restaurant I have ordered from. The owner is very friendly and personable. I especially enjoy their size options (medium and large) as my experience in the past with other Indian restaurants is that there is only one size and then you end up with too many left overs. The medium size is a perfect amount and allows us to enjoy more than one dish while staying in our take out budget. Highly recommend!

This is our go to take out place for Orillia. We have tried a lot of places in the area and honestly - most of them aren’t very good. We’ve ordered from here 3 times in one week (don’t judge us). We are originally from Toronto - we have high standards for Indian food and this place is the BOMB. Trust me and try it. Also the family that runs it are always so kind. My husband and I just moved out of the area and we miss 5 Rivers so much (we drove an hour out of the way multiple times to get it when staying at our cottage). Without a doubt one of the best Indian Restaurants in Simcoe County. Having lived in Toronto and being a frequent visitor of Little India, I didn’t think it was possible to get such delicious and authentic food here. While there are a few new chain restaurants in the city, this mom and pop restaurant is the real deal. I order the lunch special which is their Thali plate. If you are not sure what to order, this is what you want as it is a little bit of everything. Reasonably priced considering everything is made from scratch—including the spices.

This place surprised me to another level. I wont brag about food, as its beyond explanation and a review won't justify the quality and taste of food. What moved my heart is about this place - Extremely clean like mirror shine, amazing staff - but hey actually there is no staff. Its a family running restaurant and they all are participating in running. Mom-dad are the chef behind the magical food served and brothers managing the front side for serving and managing the customer. Didn't feel i came to a restaurant, its like you have visited some family members whom you haven't seen, visited and spoken in years. So if you are in area, and missing mom cooked food and gossip with brothers then this is the place you wouldn't wanna miss.

Tried Five Rivers for the first time yesterday and were totally impressed. Highly recommend the Karahi Paneer and Shrimp Masala. So flavorful and just the right amount of heat (we asked for medium & medium+). The vegetable samosas were also a tasty treat. Don't skip the Naan, it's delicious. We'll definitely return!

All the 5 star reviews you seeing are all from friends and family or bought. Firstly, the person attending to us was arrogant and when we said the meat was not cooked he rudely told us that that’s how it’s cooked as if we haven’t ever eaten meat before. Secondly, the food is nooooooooooo where close to what Indian cuisine tastes like. It’s too tomatoey & has a lot of turmeric. It’s a disgrace calling it and serving us this good in the name of Indian cuisine. The goat biryani was nothing like a biryani I was sooooo disappointed... It’s not all negative for how the place is kept. It’s clean and maintained well but what’s the point of having such a spotless place that serves terrible food...never going to come again nor suggest this place.

Wow!!! These guys are the real deal. Passion: top level. Food quality: top level. Flavors next level. I needed to provide lunch for my buddy's birthday on a Friday morning during Corona for 20 people. I called these guys at 1015 am and needed to serve lunch at noon and I was still early! I ordered a custom catering package on the fly with whatever my heart desired and was charged a beyond fair price per person. The quality and portions exceeded expectations. We had plenty of leftovers. Highlights included the driver that went to pick up the food being tortured the whole way back with the savory aroma of spices filling the car. Also my buddy and his guests that thought I had put so much effort into getting his birthday lunch catered and had no idea how lucky I was to get this quality last minute.

The place looks attractive.And the customer service is great. But thebiriyani they serve is not actually biriyani. Boiled basmati rice served with some boiled chicken and onion can never be called a biriyani I guess. Not sure about other dishes though.

Ordered food couple of times when we went to Orrilia on a Family trip. It was so good. Honestly, we two Indian families were not expecting much with an Indian restaurant in Orrilia but god we were surprised. Seekh kebab, chicken Tikka, chicken curry, paneer, alu parantha all were so good( not as spicy as we would have liked,but still good) Their Tea is a must must have. So refreshing. All in all, very happy with the quality, taste and quantity of food. Owner was very humble and nice.

We've already visited 4 times since the restaurant reopened and have tried a number of the chicken & vegetarian dishes. Everything is very flavourful and tasty. I particularly enjoyed the vegetable biryani, shahi paneer and veg kofta. My parents have enjoyed the butter chicken, chicken tikka curry and tandoori chicken tikka. We've enjoyed everything we've tried and will be back again soon. The restaurant makeover looks great. Highly recommend.

It is a gem of a place hidden in Orillia. It is the closest you can get to homely authentic Indian food. The food is prepared fresh and likely I will rate it as one of the best Indian restaurant, I have come across in North America! It is not a fine dining expensive experience, however it has great food and ambience. My wife and I stopped by yesterday for lunch and ended up ordering lot more food to take home and enjoy for the next couple of meals. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Best home-made Indian Food!!! Freshness 5/5, Quality/Taste -5/5, Service 5/5. We were staying at a resort 35 minutes away and specially drove to have meal here most of the times... esp. for Mom like Tawa Roti and delicious Dal Makhni which we ended up ordering for take out aswell. They have rare find dishes like Arbi, Karele too. Family owned cozy place with home like dinning taste. Loved it.

These guys have done a great job renovating and making sure the quality of the product is where it needs to be. I particularly love the Goat curry and their pakoras (all types). The spice level is exactly what I expect when I ask for medium or hot. I really enjoy the dishware used when the food is served dine-in but takeout holds up at home just as well since we can't eat in right now.

This place is the best! Used to live in Brampton and have been to many places in the GTA for Indian cuisine, and this place tops them all. Recently I moved up to the north bay area and there's nowhere that has any authentic or enjoyable food when I'm craving Indian. Now when I'm going south to see friends or family it's becoming a tradition to bring some 5 rivers home with me, and it's always such a treat. When I call they're very patient and helpful with my ordering, and the dishes are always the best quality. I especially love the paneer masala, it's like art how beautiful and creamy the gravy is. Honestly, if you're looking for Indian food do yourself a favour and try this restaurant, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

First time today. I ordered curry chicken spicy and a mild butter chicken. Spot on how i expect Indian food. Guys were friendly, food was on time on pickup. Make sure to order a rice or naan on the side..WOW will return, highly recommended from me, if your experience is as mine was, definitely wont leave disappointed

My husband brings home food for us to try. I'm not big on spicy foods, but what I've had so far is very tasty. I love the puri and butter naan.

Some of the best Indian food We've had! My partner and I live in Toronto near Little India, have tried countless restaurants and this one puts many of them to shame. We are vegetarian and ordered the Palak Paneer - not made with any cream, but a very nice silk-y texture - Shahi Paneer - Similar to a Paneer Makhani/ Butter Chicken type sauce, a little less sweet but more complex spice blend - and the Vegetarian Mutton - A loose-er onion gravy, with nice chunks of Soy Protein with a Chicken-like texture. Also got Basmati rice, regular Naan bread and Garlic Naan, both heated up nice in our hotel microwave and were nice and chewy. Placed our order the day before, the people there were very friendly and it was made right on time to pick up on new years eve...made our night :) Will be sure to come back next time we are in the Orillia area!
