REVIEWS OF Edulis Restaurant IN Ontario

The food was excellent, thus the 4 stars, but a couple things that bugged us a bit that kept it from a 5 star: 1) wine pairings were only okay, and 2) we felt like we fell trap to upselling (which we rarely experience!). 1) On wine pairings, what I mean is that while the wine complemented the food, it didn't add much to the food (we asked our server to make the recommendations for pairings). A contrast we had in our heads was when we went to Alo, where each wine pairing, depending on whether you sipped the wine before, or after, or along with the food, would give you a different bite/experience. We didn't get that at Edulis.. 2) On upselling... a) we thought our entire course was done when our server gave us a cheese/dessert wine menu (that was on top of our tasting menu), so we ordered a couple things to wrap up the meal. It turns out after the cheese, we got another giant cake as the final course (that was part of our tasting menu). She didn't tell us that we still had that coming, and if we knew, we wouldn't have ordered something extra casue we ended up too full after that and couldn't enjoy the cake. b) we sensed that our server wanted us to drink faster & order more drinks. We kept getting our next wine pairings placed on our table before we were even finished our previous glasses, so we'd have to almost "chug" our glass to finish and keep pace. All in all we stayed ~2h30m, which isn't that long for an 7-course tasting menu with another ~6 drinks . We felt a bit rushed even tho it was ~9pm by the time we were done.

Vegans dream. Everything comes fairly quick despite semi busy crowd. Very simple. Space is very well lit.

WOW. What a meal! Edulis just made Top 10 Restaurant in Canada 2019! We managed to score Easter weekend reservations (extra points for la boyfriend) and we were served 1) Amberjack yellowtail 2) Snow crab from Quebec with macadamia nuts and baby radish 3) Cray fish with white asparagus 4) Skate fish pulled off the bone with Muscat grapes 5) Clams 6) THE BEST OF THE NIGHT Chicken terrine with foie gras ...We had also ordered the add-on of freshly chucked Scallops baked in garlic butter...simply divine. I've been to Alo, Buca King, Scaramouche and this one is right up there with the Greatest Hits in Toronto. Highly recommended!

Great meal tonight. This was our first visit in 6 or 7 years, and it was as good as we remembered. Uncharacteristically, we kept ourselves in check and went with the smaller 5 course option, which was just right. Every dish was a winner. The execution and flavour combinations were consistently top notch. Special shout out to the foie gras and sweatbreads-stuffed chicken main course, which I can only describe as having the most chicken-y rich chicken flavour I've ever tasted. Service was also great. In fact, our server deserves special mention because she was completely on top of her game despite having to deal with an obnoxious solo diner at the next table over. Will definitely return

Andrew Bascom

Absolutely one the best meals you can have in Toronto. On top of that the beverage program and service is outstanding.

Andrews Mclean

One of my favorite food places. I love their food quality, dinning. I like their food very much. Interior was cool. Love to visit again and again

Shay Asnani

My girlfriend and I came to Edulis for her birthday and we absolutely loved it. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. The atmosphere and ambience is very cozy and romantic for dinner. I recommend doing a tasting menu.

Jessica McConnell

Edulis is easily one of the most amazing and beautiful culinary experiences in the city. From warm arrival to final liqueur-soaked-cake bite, Michael, Tobey and their dedicated team take you through a discovery of unbelievable taste. So few restaurants really own the menu anymore and their passion translates through creativity, presentation and execution. If I could afford to be there every week, I would be!

Mai Nguyen

Had an amazing meal at Edulis, everything was delicious. We had the 7 course meal, the portions were small, but at the end the evening we were quite full. The sweetbreads were definitely my favorite, heaven on a plate. The service was attentive and very friendly. The atmosphere was lovely and intimate. Reservations are a must, as they have very few tables, we were there on a Sunday night and the restaurant was full. Greatly recommend the "Carte Blanche", definitely worth it. Thank you for a memorable experience.

Christian Mathews-Gagne

Truly a special culinary experience and one of the best in Toronto. Highly recommend prix-fixe for lunch on Sunday when wine is half price!

Katy Nau

All seven dishes on the "7" menu were unique with fabulous ingredients and expertly prepared. Every mouthful bliss. Great service. Good luck making a booking!!

Genevieve Anderson

Excellent multicourse takeout dinner. Service (gratuity) is included in the price. $75 pp. Absolutely gorgeous food. Highly recommended. 2 dishes needed simple reheating at home.

I rarely post reviews but this was my worst dining experience in Toronto. We had dinner reservations at 8 15 and were in the restaurant for 2.5 hours waiting for a five course dinner . The breaks in between each course was way to long . Nothing tasted exceptionally good and everything was completely bland . I can't believe the positive reviews in this place because I would have been disappointed with the quality and taste if this is what was served in an all you can eat buffet . After waiting more then thirty minutes for our main course my girlfriend and I had to return the dish because our pork was completely flavourless and dry and cold . It tasted like it was made three hours before . We complained to the waiter and he said he would bring us another dish which was even worse when it was served . My girlfriend and I had 1 bite each and couldn't eat anymore as it was a complete failure . We immediately asked the waiter for our bill and said we did not want to try anything else . The best experience of the restaurant was the professional waiter who knew about all the wines and described all the food in extreme detail , with great passion but unfortunately the food didn't Taste even close to the descriptions. Would never recommend this place to anyone and definitely not worth 200 dollars not including the liquor . After returning two main dishes to the server not even a discount on the meal was offered which was also extremely disappointing.

Beautiful building, wonderful staff, exquisite food, I can not say enough about this establishment. My boyfriend and I exchanged promise rings here. Neither of us are local and the staff were very helpful and kind

Christel Sonne

The food was to die for! It was soooo good! My husband and I went to celebrate a birthday. It was a special occasion and Edulis was the right place to do it. We had the 7-course menu and we took the time to enjoy it, which I really recommend. The waiter explained every dish. He was kind and patient with all my questions. My husband said this is his new favourite restaurant in Toronto!

Clio Windust

Wonderful place to celebrate my best friend's 90th birthday! Great tasting menu, specializing the night we were there in excellent fish, accompanied by Tobey's wonderful homemade bread. Tobey made the sweetest little cake with candles for our dessert - best cake I've ever had at a restaurant. So moist, creamy, fruity. Absolutely delicious, and a complete surprise! thank you, Tobey. A must visit.

Sarah

This is my number one restaurant of all time. Had a great meal last night, truffle season. You walk into Edulis and immediately feel taken care of. The intimate vibe and cute mushroom decor. Service and food both impeccable. A must try.

Karl 1974

Cozy locale with a seasonal menu of wild & foraged foods used to create elevated Canadian dishes.

Rebecca Rivera

Restaurant has 2 small dinning rooms but very cozy, with excellent seafood and service. Main menu contains the choice of either a 5 or 7-course Chef Special Dinner. We ordered the 7-course dinner for ourselves. The seafood and ingredients are from various regions of Canada and Portugal etc. and delicately and very well prepared. Absolutely delicious, and the fact that one doesn’t know what to expect on your next dish just makes it so much more fun. Absolutely a culinary experience you do not want to miss!

Kade Davies

Truly a memorable dinner and an incredible experience. Attentive staff were very sweet and accommodating.

Jenna Gibson

Outstanding! We had the 7-course with white wine. Extraordinary menu featuring fresh scallop, crab, lobster, ling cod, and more. Completely exceeded my expectations and thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience. Dessert was the best I've ever had - absolutely deserving of 5 stars and their top 5 finish in Canada's best restaurants. Also: amazing service! Thank you so much!

Mai Ha

One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. Food and service is excellent. Worth the price and reservation wait. Great place for a romantic date night dinner!

Mieka Buckley-Pearson

I first visited Edulis in 2017 and had a fabulous experience - one of the best dining experiences in Toronto, both in terms of food and service. Recently I ordered their take out menu (offered on the weekends) as well as some cheese and vegetables from their suppliers (all available through the online ordering portal). The food provided was phenomenal and required minimal preparations/plating on our part - including a roast duck dish that was perfectly cooked so that when we warmed it up it did not become overcooked (we were impressed!). The packaging is all compostable and included fun labels and kind notes about how to prepare the food and the sourcing of some of the ingredients. The takeout menu is absolutely worth it and such an important way to support a wonderful restaurant like Edulis in these times. Highly recommend!!

Kate Cockbain

First off... This place is an absolute hidden gem of Toronto. This is not a pop in and out, prepare yourself for 4 hours of food seduction. Every. Single. Plate. Was amazing and the staff were so helpful with pairings and knowledge. Obviously not affordable for everyday eating but absolutely suitable for a treat yoself. Great food and a vibe that makes you feel like you're at home

Shu Zhang

Among the best meals I've had in Toronto. Classic dishes that still manage to surprise you. Great wines as well. Well priced for what you get

Lea A

One of my favourite restaurants in the area, food is made to perfection and the service is 10/10!

Alicia McNeely

Best restaurant in Toronto. Exceptional food, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Jonathan MacKenzie

I would give Edulis a 3.5 star rating if I could, but only because (a) I didn't like the tempo of the meal and (b) the food didn't blow me away (it was great though don't get me wrong). The atmosphere and decor are fantastic and our service was very good as well. The only drawback for me was that two of us had the seven course tasting menu and we were there for four hours, probably 3.5 of which we had empty plates or no food in front of us. I don't mind a long meal but I was itching to get out of there. All in all it was a memorable meal and there were definitely a few 5/5 dishes, but I don't think I'll be back.

Elena JJ

Absolutely one-of-a-kind experience. The food is always fresh and farm-to-table. They tailor the menu to your dietary restrictions and it constantly changes. Its a must try for anyone that is a foodie. The only reason its 4/5 stars is that a year ago after dining here I got food poisoning. It was only myself at the table, but we all ordered different mains so it could have been my seafood dish...

Joanna Hindle

creative dishes that honour the flavours of the ingredients; Edulis's accolades are well-earned.

Kimberley Whitchurch

I chose Edulis for a very special meal, which I mentioned in the "notes" section in the online reservation. The owner-chefs could not have been sweeter and more accommodating: my dining companion and I were treated like royalty. And the food! Utterly superlative, cooked with imagination and served with pride. I completely recommend Edulis for an excellent dining experience in a cozy, hospitable room.

Iris Chan

Wish I could afford to go more. Intimate place. I was told to go there by a restaurant guy. The food is definitely some of the most beautifully gastronomic I've ever had.

Audrey Petes

The menu changes all the time based on the freshest ingredients and the dishes are simple but unique and delicious. Great little place!

Brayden Moore

World-class tasting menu, loving service, and charming atmosphere. Great place for a fine dining experience rivaling the best while still maintaining a more relaxed and enjoyable ambiance.

Brenda Miller

rating only a 3 only cause we didn't have a opportunity to dine there, i guess we were to early. If in the area just before Stanley Park look for this beautiful restaurant..now that we know its their if in area will visit.

Alper Ozdemir

We tried their take out menu for the first time and we will be back Again for sure, such fine dining and great flavours

Paul Hewitt

My favourite restaurant in Toronto. Love the exquisite flavours in every dish. Exceptional service every time. A truly special dining experience!

Diane Sicsic

Delicious food, however I felt like the price for takeout wasn’t justified

Alex Vincent

Had an amazing experience here with my girlfriend. They were so accommodating to her allergies and made sure there was no issue. The food was fantastic. The service was very professional and unpretentious. It’s a steal for what you pay for. I’d definitely go back.

Slavi Grozev

One of the best dining experiences you can have in Toronto. The menu is simple and the dishes are constantly changing. You will have a different experience each time you go that explaining dishes serves nothing more than a tease. If you can, go during truffle season. The prices for the dishes seem high at first, but when you see the amount of truffles you get, you will just smile and order another dish. Seriously, I would be surprised if the restaurant is making a profit off the truffle dishes.

Bob RLC

I liked it a lot but others in i our party we less enthusiastic. Menu is very original, some would say challenging.

Mike de Raaf

Went for the Sunday brunch and had an impeccable meal. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and presented. The addition of a cheese course is strongly recommended. The service was excellent.

Carol MacLaren

Such a lovely special Valentine's menu. Charming service, beautiful food, outstanding wine pairings and unique venue. Not our first time, won't be the last!

Calin Alexander

Very disappointed with this place... The reviews and ratings set such a high bar, the prices set such a high expectation, and the restaurant fails to deliver. Overall I would rate this place a 3.5/5, my 1 star rating is to help balance the biased high end reviews... There is by no means anything terribly wrong with the food, the service, or the atmosphere. On the contrary, the atmosphere here is probably some of the best I've ever seen in a cozy little restaurant. The main problem with the restaurant is the food, which comes out slightly bland, prepared acceptably, and in OK pairings... And this is just the issue, for the prices and reviews this restaurant boasts it should be WAY more than just OK. There is nothing that stands out, it's all melts down into a mediocre experience and I just found myself constantly wanting it to be more. I've been to hole in the wall restaurant that put Edulis to shame flavor wise. I would not recommend anyone to go here, there are much better choices in this city especially at this price point.

Selina

Very small intimate environment. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu and added on a 6 cheese platter near the end. The pacing between the courses was great and gave us time to digest - otherwise we might have been too full. I also really like how the menu changes almost daily and that they use many ingredients that I've never even heard of before! Delicious. I can't wait to try it again!

Jeff T

Considering the hype and difficulty in getting a reservation, my visit definitely fell short of my expectations. There were definitely several items that I truly loved. However, due to the nature of a tasting menu, there will be food that doesn't do anything for me.

Karina Wong

Every time here is different, but every time is delicious! You definitely have to prepare yourself for a 3 hour experience, so don't come if you are in a hurry. But the atmosphere is homey, and the service is friendly. Can't wait to come back again.

Hiba Eva Alexander

We went for the 7 course carte blanche tasting menu for my 30th birthday and while the atmosphere was lovely, the food was underwhelming. The best course was the sashimi appetizer with apple and cucumber.

Scott Norris

Fantastic brunch tasting menu (featuring half price wine) we added a number of their options because everything sounded so good. This is definitely a special occasion venue but the relaxed feel is really nice compared to other more pretentious high end places.

Ham Solo

Hidden on Niagara street near Wellington, Edulis offers a foodie's paradise of delicious food in a cozy setting where staff are attentive to your needs. The prices are higher but you're paying for quality ($$$$) and a great culinary experience. Summer time offers a small front patio. Street parking only.

Francesca Fiure

Edulis is perfect but you already know that. This place is like home. The staff are so knowledgeable and helpful. The chef continues to amaze me. The food and wine are like nothing else in Toronto. Everyone should eat here at least once. Because it is perfection.

Mend Stern

The place is low key but the service and food are incredible!

Venus Ye

Service is the best, next is the food, they explain the food with location, and with detail information before you eat. Food has different tasting layers. I strongly recommend

Marie Leclerc

Great but doesn’t deserve the title of best restaurant in Canada in my opinion. We travel a lot and are eating out too often so we had very high expectations. Getting a table is hard. The space is cute, you feel like you’re in a cottage. The food: was a bit too salty, we really enjoyed 2 out of the 7-course menu, the rest was good but not good enough to go back. Wine: there had no pairing, a small selection of wine by the glass otherwise only full bottle. Meh. Should definitely offer a wine pairing with their menu to improve the experience. Plenty of great value in town don’t be disappointed if you can’t have a reservation and better restaurants in Montreal for similar experience.

Luis Alvarez San Sebastian

OVERPRICED, OVERATED… WE WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. We went to Edulis last Saturday, January 24th. Overall, all 3 of us were extremely disappointed. We had a flavourless 7-course menu, with an extra truffle course (120 dollars extra for a ridiculous plate we had to share between 3 persons). Every course was bland, included the extra truffle dish where , surprisingly, the truffles were tasteless as well. The food was fair at best, maybe good for an average restaurant where you are going to pay 50 dollars per person and not the 220 dollars per person that we paid. (Included 2 dollars for the filter water). Service was very good, of course we have to take into account the 50 dollars tip. The restaurant fails to live up its aspirations as outstanding restaurant compare to a regular Michelin one, even though the price is similar. OVERPRICED, OVERATED… WE WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

I took my client and his mom out to Edulis after helping him purchase a condo, to celebrate. We all ordered 7-course tasting menu, and weren't disappointed. And having been to Edulis before a few times, let my clients know that they were in for a treat. While the dishes were very good, they weren't phenomenal as I've grown accustomed to with Edulis. Id say that 4 out of the 7 dishes were great, and without remembering the exact dishes, some dishes were a tad over-salted, and some were just bland. The ambience is always great at Edulis, and we had an amazing time. Service was good, although we did wait a very long time between some of the courses, which had us at the restaurant for nearly 3 hours. But this was to be expected. Edulis has one sitting per night per table, and they make it a full nights' dining experience for all of their guests.

Jen (foodpr0n)

Sunday lunch at Edulis is one of my favourite meals in the city. Spend a few hours here relaxing with friends, dining on the season's best, and tippling on half-priced bottles. Pro-tip: make your reso early.

Macy Kuang

Get the truffle foie gras!

Meaghan M

We were very disappointed with our experience at Edulis. The food was decent, but for $175 (without any alcohol) we expected a lot more from our meal. The first course (tuna) was solid, but courses 2 and 3 were very similar and uninteresting, and neither of us enjoyed the dessert. We also had to pay for the water. Not recommended.

Theatre St.John's Theatre

One of the best food experiences I’ve had! The food is delicious and beautifully seasoned with fresh herbs. The service is impeccable. The music is fab. Such a warm feeling!! Highly recommend!!

Karen Mak

Tasting menu was just ok. Some items were better than others but wasn't amazing.

Cherryl Ann Koylass

Believe the hype!!! The food is exquisite! 5 courses of pure delight! They provided really clear instructions for prepping the meal at home, and photos of each plate so we could try to simulate a fine dining experience chez nous. The nice little personalized touches in our take-out experience make us look forward to dining in at Edulis in post-pandemic times.

Rick Girthquake

The food was extremely pretentious. The sheer succulence was masked by the minuscule proportions. The so called waiter was constantly adjusting his wig-piece. I caught a glimpse of the beast nibbling on a banana. Mediocre at best.

Bojan Trajkovski

This restaurant is a gem! One of the best food experiences we've had in a while in Toronto and it was very refreshing. The service staff was great and friendly. The atmosphere was romantic and quaint. The decor was beautiful. The food though... The food was amazing. We got the 7 course menu for $85 as opposed to the 5 course for $65. There was a white truffle option to add for $60, but we opted out of that. The quantity of food we were told was fairly similar except we would get more variety with the 7 course menu. It ended up being the perfect amount of food. We even opted to get a pre-dessert cheese menu (selected which we'd like to try) and it featured one of the best cheeses we've ever tried. Our menu for the day we went (menu changes) was mainly seafood. There was also a lamb plate as well. I'm not a fan of lamb, but this was exquisite. The best plate was the smoked white fish. The tenderness and flavor that was packed in the fish was out of this world. The garnish of steamed/boiled sliced brussel sprouts and green apple garnish complimented it perfectly. One of the best dishes I've had, ever. Then came the dessert, a strawberry raspberry sorbet with fresh strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb in a coconut milk sauce - amazing. We were also surprised by the addition to the dessert which was a Baba au Rhum. Let me tell you about this Baba au Rhum. It's a famous Parisian dessert (originating from Poland) which we had a chance to try while visiting Paris. It was ok, and granted we may just have tried a poor version of it. However, the Baba au Rhum at Edulis was a completely different dessert. It's what Baba au Rhum should taste like. My mouth is watering as I'm writing about it. Someone in these comments complained about the water charge - water is $2 for filtered of which you get unlimited amounts. Simply ask for tap water if you don't want it and there's no charge, which is what we did. All in all, this is a special restaurant and a Toronto treasure. I highly recommend trying it out and we will be going back for sure!

Nauman Ghani

Blast during truffle season but superb all year around. Fall 2018 - menu built around truffles and seafood.

Mike Sheeler

This place was unique, the food was too notch. The service was above and beyond. The price is high but it's worth it. Overall, a great experience. I'll be going back (next year once my bank account recovers ;)

Brent Snider

Fantastic tasting menu accompanied by top notch service.

Thomas Antonio

Highly recommend, amazing meal at a very reasonable price. Nice little restaurant serving great in-season food without any fine dining trappings. Great ciders as well!

B L

Every meal I have had here has been remarkable. Reminiscent of the great family-run restaurants of the Old World. Simple but skilled cooking, incredible ingredients, and lots of love - a recipe for success for any restaurant.

Flora

This place is hard to book unless you see a last min cancellation. I went for Sunday brunch. Brunch is different than dinner, as it's more vegetable heavy. I had a nice meal, though I prefer to have a less vegetable heavy tasting menu, even though I didn't have any truffle dishes. This place has mushrooms and truffles displayed everywhere. The half bottle wines does make it a nice touch since they have a great selection and recommendation. Probably won't go back for brunch, but I may check out the dinner menu one day. Super friendly service and quaint cozy place.

Cole W

A true labor of love: Everything about Edulis is exceptional. The best meal I've had in Canada in recent memory, and just an all-around happy experience that I'm still smiling about. Thank you.

Tim D

Always a great experience. Highly recommend! T

The food was "just ok" and considering the price point at this place and also the rave reviews as a city favourite, I expected a lot more. For those who have never been here before - the menu is "carte blanche". Starting off with what I liked: the seafood dishes were flavourful, fresh, colourfully presented. What I didn't like: the main entree we had which was rabbit was not tender, not flavourful at all and the portions were very small. We paid extra for the truffle menu but the dish was essentially boiled potato with truffle on it - not impressive and tasted as plain as it sounds. The last dessert was a slab of angel cake with rum, which was not that great either (my girl friend and I took no more than 2 bites). I'm willing to give the restaurant another try but my first experience has not left me longing to go back any time soon :X

Kelly Robson

I've eaten at Edulis six times in the past four years, and never once been disappointed in anything. The food is inventive, unique, playful, and delicious. Several of the dishes -- and desserts -- remain in my memory as the best I've ever had. The service is low key, friendly, and perfectly paced. The wine list is affordable for an upscale restaurant. I would not give credence to any of the negative reviews below. Edulis is perfect.

David Sikora

Edulis at Home exceeds expectations! From the moment you walk up to the restaurant to the last bite at home; These folks are a class act! They refused a tip at the time of pick up as they wanted it passed on to support the homeless in need (I will donate this to a shelter or a cause in line with this). We drove the meal home and the preparation of each course was still well in tact. Some assembly is required, but a proficient home cook can figure out the simple instructions that are provided to replicate a finessed restaurant-grade meal in seconds! Each course brought a new flavour profile and was not over done. After all, simple ingredients and meals are the best. A+ experience. I highly recommend supporting this small and caring establishment.

Mike C

My first experience was great, not perfect, still very good (4.5/5 stars). Wanted to go back, made another reservation, however, this time I wanted to confirm something about the menu, there is just no way to contact the restaurant. Nobody answers the phone as it's for info only; tried to communicate via the booking site & email, no response, tried contacting them from social media, zero response, so I gave up and cancelled my reservation. There are so many other nice(r) restaurants in Toronto anyway.

Marie Macauley

Edulis is a rather atypical restaurant for Toronto, and yet it fits in quite perfectly. The location is interesting, and so is the name of the restaurant. It is at an intersection of an industrial-type residential area, and flaunts a big Bolet type mushroom on its facade. As it turns out, Edulis is the latin equivalent of Bolet, a common, delicious and widely consumed mushroom (especially in France!). The food is seasonal, simple, elevated, bref, divine. Only two set menus to choose from, with a few options to add as appetizers. I highly recommend this place for an elegant yet-rustic dinner, where the knowledgeable staff will kindly walk you through the experience, and where the wine selection should please any level of connaisseur.

Kinnon Yee

Lovely atmosphere with great food. If you want a cozy, intimate night, this is the place. Food is expertly served with friendly staff. Kitchen is fast and efficient and all the food flavours are clean and dance in your mouth.

David Jags

Had a great meal. Every dish was inventive and delicious. Very reasonably priced for the quality of tasting menu! Would definitely be back, next time in the summer.

Will Moll

Fine dinning at its best... Amazing food, 5 course meal, desserts to die form.. Amazing experience, fabulous staff.... Well worth going for a casual brunch, or formal affair... Got an anniversary or a birthday... Go here.

Stefan Di Iorio

Currently at the restaurant. Waiting for the dessert. This is the best restaurant in the city. Edit: still the best. Kate, our waitress, was fantastic. Chef made an impromptu dinner for my mom due to her allergy. Think Ruby Watch co x3.

HJ

Great food, friendly and knowledgeable staff.. The menu progression was perfect.. Just go and choose the 5 or 7 course menu, then sit back and enjoy for the next two hours. Definitely I will go back

Tyler Warman

Absolutely fantastic! The food quality, pacing and atmosphere are well worth the price of the menu.

Mark Oleniuk

Fantastic experience, the food was amazing, and so was the service. Highly recommend for a special night out.

Amanda Silva

Cute, quaint and cozy restaurant. Love the concept of a blind menu. Even though I had no idea what I was eating, they were able to accomodate my food allergies. Food was delicious, service was attentive. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wendy Li

WHAT TO TRY?! Their set lunch menu! I wasn't expecting much and I also didn't know what to expect because I thought it would be a typical brunch/lunch menu! This restaurant is really small so it definitely gives you a cozy feeling. I say the restaurant can fit at most 25-30 people. Most of their ingredients are sourced from organic farms. I was wowed by their first dish which is their soup of Farro Verde. The ham from El Rincon Joselito was just utterly delicious!! The flavor from that ham was just incredible. The bread was made in house and was freshly served in a cute bag. Even though there were a lot of dishes, I liked the balance of veggies to meats and seafood. The flavors of the dishes were impeccable. We also ordered the scallops which were freshly deshelled to order. The simple addition of garlic and butter with some minced parsley got our mouths drooling because we could smell it from the other table as they were getting their order of scallops! The scallops are additional add ons to the fixed menu though. Overall, though this was a filling lunch, I would say it has been one of my best lunches I had in Toronto because just the ham itself, was worth my visit to this restaurant. The Sunday cake that they made which was an espresso cake, was also a great dessert to end a happy meal. LAST TIP?! The scallop is worth the order in addition to the fixed lunch menu because you can smell the sizzling scallops fill the entire restaurant the moment they take it out from their kitchen. If you like ham, you'll like the ham here which is from El Rincon Joselito!! The fixed lunch menu is not cheap ($55 pp) so I recommend you to save this lunch for special occasions!! And lastly, all their bottled wines are 50% off on sundays! Take advantage of that!

Stephen Bridges

Wonderful food! We were doing well and then we got too excited for a cheese plate, then desert put us over the edge of stuffed full. Excellent service as well, loved our server.

Wilson Hodges

One of the best spots in the city, seasonal menu is fantastic, you do have to reserve a few weeks ahead of time. Worth it!

Don Malcho

There are not enough superlatives to describe the 10 course meal I enjoyed with my family at this restaurant tonight. The staff of Edulis leave nothing to be desired in attentiveness nor insight into the tasty variety of ingredients from varied corners of the world. All in all a uniquely delicious meal from start to finish.

Greg Turk

tried making a reservation and everything was sold out on tock in 12 seconds.

Radu Toma

My wife and I discovered Edulis only recently, but we have been regulars there ever since. We love the amazing food, a lot of it locally sourced and freshly prepared, the best house made breads, the ever changing variety with no repeated dishes, the ambience and the service. Fantastic deserts to end the meal on a sweet note. Did I say good wine prices too? The menu is set, so one has to be flexible, though they will accommodate for allergies or dislikes. For us, there is no better place than Edulis in Ontario. Tough to get a reservation sometimes, but well worth it.

Hermann Stadtlander

Great food and very attentive service. Had a great time!

Wonderful atmosphere and service-- not rushed or overbearing, and patient in introducing the dishes. The time I went the tasting menu was just the right balance of refreshing dishes and flavour-rich mains. The decor gives it a cosy, home-like feel.

A truly wonderful dining experience! From the moment I walked into the restaurant to the moment I left, the whole experience was exceptional. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding. The concept of the restaurant is that the food is a surprise, I love this type of dining experience. Each course was a delight to the eyes and tasted full and rich and honest. The wines were excellent and a good value. I would highly recommend Edulis!

Great place for a fine dining experience rivaling the best while still maintaining a more relaxed and enjoyable ambiance. Exceptional service every time. A truly special dining experience! Go for the 7 course meal, each one is a journey into culinary excellence. Took months to finally get a reservation, but we were definitely not disappointed. Best place I've eaten in Canada. The service is low key, friendly, and perfectly paced. The wine list is affordable for an upscale restaurant.

Atmosphere was nice. Ultimately a fine dining experience presented in an approachable way but... I dunno. Maybe it's just not for me? Over-priced small portions with a set menu. It's a fun experience, and at the end of the night it's enough food, I just didn't find that I really got to fully enjoy any one serving due to the size. Again, it's an experience none the less.

Overall a wonderful first experience at Edulis. We looked at making a reservation online but noticed the next available time was one month away so we used the DINR app and managed to get a same day reservation! The location was inviting yet intimate, and the restaurant was generally quite, with the exception of one extremely loud and rude table that I don't believe to be the norm; a server asked them to politely turn the volume off of the video they were loudly sharing. The 3 hour experience was one of 7 elevated small dishes (when I say small that means 2 to 4 average size bites). All of the dishes were delicious and beyond my expectations, with the exception of the final rum cake that was so soaked in a rum sauce it was inedibly sweet. I would not recommend coming on an empty stomach as even after 7 portions, you still felt like you could have one or two more, and the wait time between each portion felt very long. I tend not to eat the table bread to leave room for the main dishes but in this case I wish we had more bread. The servers were attentive and the runners would explain each dish in detail. The wine recommendations from our server did not disappoint and the espresso was one of the best I've had in Toronto. I would highly recommend trying Edulis!

Food was incredible. Service fantastic. Wonderful ambience. Go for the 7 course meal, each one is a journey into culinary excellence. Took months to finally get a reservation, but we were definitely not disappointed. Best place I've eaten in Canada.

Amazing food that incorporates a variety of different textures flavours and tones. Equally amazing service.

We found this restaurant on Canada’s 100 Best list. It is absolutely worth its position on the list and the excellent rating in terms of food quality, plating, service and environment. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu and it couldn’t be better! It was a lovely dinner!! Highly recommended.

Edulis is always an amazing experience! I have eaten there many times and it is always a food exploration that expands my culinary world wrapped in an amazingly friendly, unassuming environment accessible to everyone. Edulis earns it's amazing reputation and builds on it's past successes every time we have the pleasure of dining there.

This restaurant is located in a small town near Segovia. One Sunday after taking a hike in the Segovian countryside, we decided to have lunch here. Our group consisted of 6 adults and 7 kids. The restaurant is quite big. Having called before arriving, we had a nice table for all our group on the top floor. The food is quite typical for the Segovian region: a lot of pork, beef and no chicken at all. A pleasant surprise was that they also had quite a few mushroom based dishes. The risotto with mushrooms was delicious. We also got the chance to have a pleasant conversation with the owner, who shared the story of the restaurant and asked us to try the special beer he imports. Overall a very nice experience and an owner who knows how to make guests feel welcomed

Great and unique experience ! Food was amazing and selections blew our minds. Off the path but would highly recommend it.

Absolutely excellent dining experience, with a fantastic menu. Finally something a little different in the city. And the price point is right on. Worth every penny! If I came to the west end more often, I would make this the spot to take people. It's the first place I ever had caviar and I had no idea it was so good! Everything is here.

Edulis is ranked among the top 100 restaurants in Canada. I think it deserves the spot, it was a great experience and I will be returning. The Menu: The menu is a pre-fix menu and the dishes are not listed on the printed menu on the tables. Our host told us the dishes are frequently changed and there is a completely new menu approximately every 3 weeks. You need to be comfortable with not knowing what you're about to pay for. There are two options you can order, a 5 course and 7 course for $65 & $85 (the prices have since gone up). We were told that the amount of food is roughly the same as the portions will be adjusted down for the 7 course meal, although you will try two extra dishes, so ordering the 7 course meal solely for the purpose of getting more food may not be a feasible option. To start they brought out stuffed olives, house-made bread and butter. The seven courses we tried are briefly below: 1. Sashimi 2. Shredded snow crab 3. White asparagus and morrel mushroom 4. Georgian Bay lake trout with radishes and almonds 5. John Dory with muscat grapes and leeks 6. Chicken stuffed with foi gras, crawfish on a push pastry, and mushroom 7. Dessert came in two parts, one is a Cake with a rum syrum and creme, the other is a rhubarb frozen yogurt made with goats milk. Overall I was really happy with the menu. While the dishes are small they are very flavourful and rich, and as a result you dont find yourself wanting more. By the end of the meal I was definitely full. In addition to the above we tried their in house made sodas. We tried the apricot and elderflower which I would highly recommend. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is casual, and the restaurant looks like a small cottage inside and out. I think it is very well suited for a date night, as it does have a romantic vibe to it. Service: The service is good, not bad by any means but also not anything special. It was about what you expect from a higher end restaurant but nothing over the top. No complaints here. Parking: There is a parking garage just around the corner (about a 3 minute walk), with underground parking for about $4 which is nice and convenient. Will I go back? 100%.

Yes the food is excellent, but everything else was not. Arrived 6:10 and bread was not served until 15 minutes later. We left after 5 courses at 8:30! The time between courses meant that we ate so much bread! Food may almost be in the same league as Alo, but service no where close. Had to ask for water several times and for our wine to be poured. The freshly truffled custard dish had several substantial slices of truffle, but with the covered lid the truffle was cooked and there was virtually no aroma of the truffle. George has a much better dining experience, with preparations equal if not better.

Anna Shpilevskaya

Amazing meal with surprising seafood dishes that I have not tried before . Me and my husband enjoyed the meal and the cozy atmosphere. I would definitely go back especially during truffle season to try the truffle I spired menu!

Darko Z

I literally have never had a better meal - ANYWHERE in Toronto. All 7 courses were simply stellar, beyond reproach! They don’t just serve amazing food - they serve poetry on a plate

In my view, possibly the best restaurant in Toronto. Went here for a birthday dinner and were absolutely blown away by the courses and attentiveness of the staff. Each course was delicate, refined and perfectly complemented both the prior and subsequent course. An exceptionally crafted and executed menu. It will stay in your mind for a while. Full disclosure: we went here about 2 years ago (forgot to write a review then), but I'm confident from the recent reviews I've seen that it is still at the top of its game.

Scott C

Easy to see why this is rated as one of the top restaurants in the country. We have been several times and each experience was nothing short of phenomenal. A must try! We will be back.

Yordan

Dissapointing for the being ranked so highly. The portions were small for a tasting menu and the food lackluster. They seemed to be trying too hard about presentation and incorporating unique vegetables over the taste of the main ingredients.

Frederic Burrell

The menu is extensive - every possible burger toppings you can think of. I had the Mac Daddy (burger patties, mac & cheese, pulled pork) and it was AMAZING. My other half had the burger with blue cheese and it was equally as good. The tater tots fantastic, the service was good, the burgers were fresh, the prices are reasonable and portions are large.

Jam Bernardo

Amazing food. Usually, with blind tasting menus, there’s always one thing that I don’t like.. but that wasn’t the case here. We got the 5 courses and everything we had was so delicious.. from the meats to the sauces and garnishes. Highly recommend this place. Just make sure to plan ahead as reservations go quick.

Aside from choosing what to drink, life is simple at Edulis. You’ve got just the five or seven course tasters menus, and food choices aren’t required. The chef does that for you. And what a chef this one is. Your sample dishes could be anything from lobster, to duck, to Arctic char, to tuna tartar ... . Dessert wound up being Baba Au Rhum and Chantilly cream. There were two of us. We got one big piece of cake on a dish which was accompanied by a vessel of the rhum concoction and another one with the chantilly cream. The Tempranillo we chose, ‘Flor de Baco’ went well with each of the foods. Oh, and if the ‘sample’ word causes you to think you might leave the place hungry, forget about it. That won’t happen. We can’t wait to go back.

Have been hearing about Edulis for some time and finally got the opportunity to try it last night. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu plus Ham appetizer and Artichoke Truffle soup. This was an unbelievable and unforgettable experience that will not be forgotten. Cosmetically the plates were spectacular. Beautiful. Colourful and decorative. But the actual dishes, bowls, cutlery too were stunning. A visual experience. But then the taste. Multi layered. Interesting. Different textures and techniques. Absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. Personal without being overly doting. YES. I absolutely will go back and highly recommend.

We were blown away by the food and service yesterday. We've been wanting to come to Edulis for years now and finally landed a reservation on a date that worked out for us. Philip was our server and we were the first table to be seated. He was spectacular throughout the service and provided us with an enthusiastic and informative introduction to each dish. Hands down, provided the best service we've ever had. Seated at the table next to us were a pair of regulars and we never felt neglected. The food was creative and tasted amazing. There was a skate dish that was a little too salty for my fiancee but I personally loved it. Otherwise, everything else was perfect. We'll definitely be coming back.

Sohail Mall

This place is almost a 5 star. They did a number of things right. Accommodated an infant, provided an amuse Bouche that created excitement, had a great first course of raw fish with a beautiful sear, took beef to a new level that took a type of cow that is typically not purchased for consumption, and a dessert that was complex yet simple. Finally they did a beautiful job of recognizing my birthday. Our overall service was fantastic!!!! What was missing or could have been improved? - the dry aged fish was missing flavour - the calamari was over cooked in some bites, perfectly cooked in others, and one of the piece was under where it had some slimyness. When you only get 3 pieces its important that it is all cooked perfectly - the beef was a cool idea but the cut was 60%fat and 40% beautifully cooked meat. I would have liked to see a 30% rendered fat, 70% meat ratio to equal out the bite. If remained as is, they give Alo a run for their money, with better service. If they improved they smaller details, watch out michelin guide!

Living in this great city...its sometimes hard to find good consistent meals. This place does just that!

First off I do want to say the service was fantastic. Having said that I thought the food was overrated and overpriced. My fiance and I did the 7 course tasting menu and though presented well with a lot of unique seafood tastes that I've never had before, I was just a bit underwhelmed by it all. I did have the homemade grape soda which was very good and the espresso to cap off the night was wonderful as well. I am maybe glad I tried it but i would not spend $275 (all-in) to go again.

If you see a restaurant where it has two rooms, one is full of Asians with an Asian server and another one is full of Caucasians with a nice Canadian waitress, how would you consider this set-up? I am not talking about racism, but it is definitely not comfortable for visible minorities. The food is not as fantastic as we expected. We have tried various tasting menus in Toronto, the taste is just a bit higher than average. I have to admit that if you like to try different things, it is a must-try place to go because of the fame.

Carlton Brown

The service, food, wine selection and service is exceptional at this place. A true Toronto gem I believe everyone should experience in their life. And you'll never have the same experience twice as is up to the chef what the menu of the day is. Very fun.

Sean Rosenthal

The most wonderful and honest gastronomic experience Toronto has to offer. A classic but innovative take on some of the most decadent ingredients you could imagine. I count the days till I can return.

Eduils is an exceptional restaurant. The food is very good and well presented. It is cozy and not pretentious. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I've visited more than once. I do feel that the pacing of the meal is quite relaxed and this often leads to 3 hours+ at the table, which is too long. Reducing the break between dishes by about 7-8 minutes would make it a near perfect experience, I think. That said, I sense the pacing is deliberate and not a lapse. They want you to enjoy your company and the dining experience at an unrushed pace. For me it ends up being like a great movie that runs about 30 minutes too long.

Monica L.

Delicious food! A lot of flavour and care was definitely placed in their ingredients and menu. Staff are unbelievably polite and the fact that the gratuity is all included is honestly a stress reliever for me and proves to me that the staff are genuinely awesome because they don’t feel the pressures of receiving tip or delivering a “tip worthy” experience. Loved the ambience of the space and felt extremely safe in this current environment dining in. Thanks for an amazing experience!!

Fiona Louden

Amazing food! Amazing wine! Amazing staff! You have missed out if you are in Toronto and you don't done here.

Zheren Yang

$65 for 5 courses or $85 for 7 courses. $105 for white truffle risotto per person. The food is quite amazing. We had tuna tartare, live snow crab, Nova Scotia lobster, cuttlefish, veal, Greek style fried fish and 2 desserts.

Allison Brown

Don't get me wrong...the food was very inventive and delicious -- every bite was crafted beautifully...however, everything I ate was at the same temperature (room, or slightly above) and the one food aversion I mentioned before we began was not considered. We also ordered the 5 course menu but were served the 7..which means we paid for the 7. The upset was outrageous but we went for it since it was a very special occasion. It was underwhelming at best. I don't ever get out for dinner so I was overjoyed when my husband surprised me with this night out as my birthday present. I was incredibly disappointed and would not recommend Edulis to any of my friends.

Tra Vano

Good food, but a bit pricey relative to other tasting menus in Toronto.
