My husband ordered Ritorno for our Mother's Day celebration. He was scheduled to pick up his order at 7:15pm, he waited THREE hours in the cold while I sat at home alone on Mother's Day (waited so long my son was already in bed). He was told over and over again it would be just another 10 mins. He had pre-paid so didn't get any sort of refund for our order after waiting that long. He didn't get home until after 10pm (we live 5 mins away). I understand with COVID this may have been an unusual experience but three hours is unacceptable. Very unfortunate because the food is actually amazing.

It was an amazing experience, it was my first visit . My husband enjoyed the atmosphere and the food too. I think the best attraction was the nona wall it’s so nostalgic. We are not so knowledgeable about Italian food but our server really helped us to choose some great dishes and wine . Thanks for outstanding customer service.

An excellent spot run by great people. The best way to label this place is cosy, casual Italian. Your standard Italian fare well executed without being over the top in preparation, presentation or price. High value proposition. Highly recommend for a solid, no-fuss, pasta dinner with a nice bottle of wine.

What would 'nona' think about not having high chairs available I wonder. We were going to eat there tonight but they said they had no high chairs. What kind of a family restaurant is this? Not very inclusive. Also their website said no reservations allowed on Saturdays but then at the restaurant they told us we should have made a reservation. That makes no sense. I will not go back there.

Cozy modern Italian restaurant with classic Italian dishes on the menu. I had the lasagna which was delicious. Our waiter Sam was clearly a professional and we exchanged ghost stories. Friendly staff and great food. Who can ask for more?

This is a Take Out Order rating. I ordered dinner from Ritorno last night. I placed my order through Uber Eats as I was unable to go collect it myself. I ordered the Penne Formaggio, Nonna’s 6 Layer Lasagna & Flourless Chocolate Cake. Everything was so tasty. We even got a few pieces of bread that my kids loved. The portion sizes were great, the containers were filled. The food was hot and freshly made and everything smelled yummy. I must say I was impressed with the portion size for the cake. When I placed the order I was a bit nervous about the size of the cake. But it was great! Thank you for a great dinner.

If you’ve ever wanted to taste heaven on earth, then please try the Tiramisu!!! It’s the most deliciously soft, fluffy & fresh piece of amazing ness that I’ve tasted!!! I can’t help myself but order these when having a nice evening at home! We’ve done ubereats due to the pandemic & I just cannot believe I didn’t discover this gem any earlier! The cannolis are freshly made as well upon order. Desserts are just 10/10! The flourless chocolate cake is amazing as well!!

We had a wonderful dinner last night and were spoiled by Matthew. We had a great bottle of vintage wine....we did get the last one sorry! We shared apps with the table-arancini, meatballs and caesar salad and all were excellent with great presentation. The veal was perfect and the gnocchi with vodka sauce was fantastic. Matthew made up a dessert platter for us to share that had Cannoli's that were just piped for us, Tiramasu and the flourless cake all of which were good. I have always driven past without going in and no longer. I will absolutely come back! Thanks for the great night!

Absolutely incredible restaurant! The dine-in experience is top notch with excellent, friendly service and amazingly fresh, high quality, delicious food. I recommend the Penne Quattro Formaggio, the Tiramisu, the pizzas - just try everything! I have also had take-out - they package it with care and it is just as good as sitting in the restaurant. Only downfall of take-out is not having the very cozy ambience of the "Nonna wall" and very attentive staff. Just give them a call to make your reservation - just from that you will know what a professional establishment this is with friendly staff and excellent customer service. I am running out of words to describe how great this place is! Just go! :)

We love Ritorno's. It's delicious, homemade, authentic Italian food. Whether you want a simple Linguini Algio (which is my favourite) or a six layer lasagna (which is my son's favourite) it's always delicious. The simple Insalata with grilled shrimp is perfect! Service is impeccable and we LOVE the Nonna wall! Such a lovely added touch. Julia is always around to greet her guests with warmth and love.

We had a little bit of an interesting visit here. Came for a family dinner, the food was good but the service was not what I would expect from this location. What was surprising was at the end of the night when we paid the bill this server gave us a look of disappointment and walked away. when one of our guests approached the server to see what was wrong she made a comment that we never tipped her. now at this restaurant when you have groups of eight or more they automatically build a gratuity into the bill which we paid. we had to point out to the waitress that there was already a gratuity in our bill at which point she was not very apologetic. the owner of the restaurant came over and tried to smooth things over but left a very bad impression. We were shocked at how the server gave us such a bad attitude after getting a generous gratuity. staff should be educated on the restaurant policies so that other patrons don't feel the way we did

They seated us even though no reservation. Thanks for this, as it was busy. Service was professional and evenly paced. Our two different dishes had chicken, which was a bit to dried. The accompanying vegetables, salad was excellent. Would like to see some Canadian wine choices on menu. Enjoyable experience.

It’s such a cozy and warm atmosphere here with a Nonna Wall dedicated to all grandmothers. Bring a framed photo of your Nonna and they will hang it on the wall and the next day, they will donate meals to the food bank or frontline workers. Now that’s a wonderful thing. ___ They have won several accolades by Oakville Beavers Readers Choice 2021…a Diamond for the Best Italian Restaurant, Best Takeout and Best Pasta. And also awarded for the Best Ambiance and Best Service!! ___ The food is tasty since Owner and Chef Julia makes everything from scratch. One of my faves has to be the Meatballs and their thin crust Margherita pizza. For pastas, try the Linguini Pescatore, Penne Formaggio in Rose and handmade Gnocchi. For mains, I highly recommend the Sweet Potato Crusted Salmon, or the Veal Parmigiana. OMG… be sure to save room for the warm Sticky Toffee Pudding. My family and I had dinner at Ritorno last night and it did not disappoint! This was the first time since the pandemic that we all dined in a restaurant together. It was truly fitting that we were in a family owned restaurant :) It was a special occasion that we all gathered as we remembered my brother that passed away in the summer and it would've been his 51st birthday. The restaurant gifted me a very tasty ceasar as that was my brother's favourite drink. I ordered the gnocchi with meat sauce and the pasta was so pillowy soft and the accompanying bolognese was delicious. Our server, David, was so attentive. Other team members were attending to our tables (we were a group of 14) and they were so nice. Thank you to Ritorno for giving us this night out and making this an evening full of memories. (How do I get our mom on your Nonna wall?? Lol)

I have been there twice with friends and i can definitely tell you that it is very overpriced. I paid almost $40 for pasta and half a starter, and the portions are the size of a fist. I also got sick from their food hours later, so definitely not worth the money or the pain. On the bright side their pastas taste pretty good, but for what you get, it is not worth spending an arm and a leg.

Had the pasta special today, chicken linguine in a rose sauce. As well as a mushroom Pesto pizza. Service is great here and the pasta was so good. Very pleased that it was fresh linguine! I would have liked a little more pasta with the sauce and the portion was a bit small but still delicious. I'd definitely come back. The pizza was thinking crust and delicious. Atmosphere is very nice and cozy....great place to chat and enjoy good food. I also really like the wall of Nonna's as a tribute to family and maternal heroes.

Staff are not friendly nor are they prompt with their service. I’ve been there on more than one occasion and have had slow and rude service - and to top it all off the restaurant wasn’t even busy and most of the staff were standing behind the bar talking. One family even walked out as it takes almost 15 minutes to be noticed and offered water. Our waiter particularly was just plain arrogant.

Original Post: Our new favourite place to eat. The gnocchi is to die for, and almost everything is nearly the best I’ve ever had. They have this amazing risotto made from einkorn wheat - a must try. Edit: Changed to a 4 star from 5 because of the below. Just want to say that the food is great! But 5 stars means a great experience, which the last two visits suffered in the last couple of months. A change in management removed the ability to get half portions of gnocchi to have to try... which is a big downside. Also, they change up the ingredients of the einkorn risotto without informing the guests... this led to an alergy issue after eating this many times in the past. Strangely, the portion sizes were cut down significantly. We have been going here often (1-2 times a month for over a year) Sad that these changes really affected our excitement to eat here on a regular basis. The food is still really good - just not a big fan of the two main things we enjoyed, and portion sizes shrinking being changed after so long :( Also, the wine we ordered was out, so they brought a different bottle without informing us... these little things matter for a great experience.

Decent food and friendly staff. Owner greeted us warmly on our arrival. Only issue was that they didn't have high chairs. I have no doubt other people with small kids have found this to be odd. One of the kids broke a plate which was unfortunate, and the staff handled it gracefully. Had the calamari which was good, and veal scallopini which was tender and flavorful. I'm not from this area but had a pleasant experience dining here.

This is another good italian restaurant I have been to. This restaurant serves great tasting food with a light portion. I will say the main theme is to sell taste, texture and moody feeling in the restaurant. The air conditioning was a bit strong when it is not full house, so please bring a sweater or scarf. Their main menu is better the average, but they give you astounding performance on dessert if you have an insatiable sweet tooth. My wife and I have not tried every dessert from the menu, but far they have not failure my wife's expectation.

I liked Ritorno, and will return! It was nonna's bday but we couldn't.dine in so I got takeout. The order was prepared quickly. And when I arrived to pick it up we were greeted happily and felt very welcome. Staff was excellent. Sliced us fresh bread on the spot. The food was hot and fresh and tasty as well. We had our daughter’s baptism reception at Ritorno this past Sunday. The staff and management, including owner Julia, made our event absolutely seemless. The food was out of this world, the service was first class, and the atmosphere was amazing! The food was delicious. Unfortunately, the staff were not friendly and didn't appear very happy to be at work. The lady who seated us did not greet us and was not friendly. Our waitress was very inattentive and left us alone for long periods of time. The restaurant wasn't full so I am not sure what the problem was. It was too bad since we were very impressed with the food-the staff put a damper on the whole experience.

We were a party of 4 that dined at Ritorno's last friday evening and have been meaning to write this review ever since. Ever since our favourite restaurant in Etobicoke closed due to the pandemic, we have been on the search for the next best gnocchi with gorgonzola and we finally found it at Ritorno's! the gnocchi was absolutely melt in your mouth pillowy soft and the sauce delicious. Hats off to you nonna! Amazing! our appetizers were delicious, including the calamari and ceaser salad. We also tried the two linguine dishes and they were all delicious. The tiramisu was also delicious. What was most refreshing was the service. The restaurant was a full house, yet the servers was very attentive and made sure you always had what you needed. Excellent customer service. Thank you Ritorno's for a wonderful experience and a delicious meal. We will be back !

Visited this restaurant for some homemade Italian cuisine, and that’s exactly what we received. The homemade gnocchi we ordered tasted like clouds, and the Gorgonzola sauce was rich in flavour. If you’re looking to go somewhere wholesome and authentic, this is the place. Their customer service is outstanding; all staff was very friendly, and our server Sam was delightful! We will definitely be coming back!

Not a child-friendly restaurant. No highchairs, booster seats and no change table in the men's restroom. Small kids cup was water in an old fashioned glass and a cocktail straw. Our waiter was friendly but bypassed taking a meal order for our toddler and was about to walk away until we interjected. Food was just okay, not outstanding. Tried the arancini appetizer and it was very heavy on the gorgonzola and it overpowered the dish. I ordered the chicken marsala and the chicken was thin, very dry (even with sauce) and sadly, lacking flavour. Had the cannoli for dessert and the ricotta was bland and grainy. Too many little disappointments at this restaurant to make me want to return.

The food was really something special because it was exceptionally tasty without being overly rich and heavy. The feature item of note was the Artic Char fish cake that was fish instead of being a "potato cake" flavored with fish. We had the arancini, gnocchi (both tomato and gorgonzola) and the lasagne off the regular menu. All were excellent, except the tomato sauce for the gnocchi was a little less intense in flavor than we would have liked. I really liked the fact that the cannoli are ordered in singles, and are wonderfully crisp because they are made immediately after being ordered. Needless to say, they taste wonderful.

The food itself was great, no question - we got the bruschetta to start then mushroom risotto and carbonara. Disappointed with our dessert though- we got Creme Brullee and it did not appear to be freshly made. Crusty sugar on top was burnt and we could not eat it, and the custard was cold. The server never came to refill our water and served food for other customers before ourselves even though we came in earlier. Server never introduced themselves but they had long hair, tall, darker skin. He seemed to spend more time with other customers than ourselves and we had to ask for the freshly ground pepper, he asked the other tables but not ours. To make up for the broken pepper shaker he seemed pushy in giving us more even though we said we were fine. This was our 1st year anniversary and my husband made a reservation for us and we both felt let down. We have been here before and expected good fresh food and service but did not get it.

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in the uptown core area. Cozy and relaxing atmosphere. We had mussels for starter, then linguine Pescatore, linguine Alfredo and Vitello Parmigiana as main. None of them let us down. Desserts was a big surprise! We just love the Cremebrulee. Highly recommend and definitely will come back again.

I thought I had found a gem of a restaurant in Oakville... our first experience was amazing. We decided to go back for my birthday and that was so much more disappointing.... The starters were amazing.. the main courses came which were not so great. My husband neal was burnt and overdone and I had ordered a children's meal for my daughter which was penne with a bolognese sauce. The portion was ridiculously small... there was just enough pasta to cover the bottom of the small bowl with not even a mouthful of meat sauce... probably less than $1.50 worth of food and we were charged $11.00. My daughter was so hungry which is why she was picking food off everyone else plate. That was not an acceptable portion size for a child. I gave my feedback and nothing really happened... I would have been better paying for a full portion and taking the rest home. I also got covered in water as a full glass of water was dropped on the table... the waiter was so apologetic and I said not to worry as he was so embarrassed. But no follow up to check in on us or deal with the situation... All in all, i was so upset that I left with a sour taste in my mouth... The feeling of being taken advantage off and ripped off with no acknowledgement or ownership for the issues that had been raised or occurred during this experinece... I won't be back... disappointing after such a promising start with our 1st experience.

An almost hidden jewel in Oakville. We had lunch there today with some friends and the place was almost full. This is on a Thursday at noon. Goes to show you that great food and good prices will keep people coming back. Truly Italian. Owned and operated by JULIA who also runs Julia Ristorante in downtown Oakville. Areal family feeling. One wall is called the Nona wall where customers can place pictures of their Nona's. Julia's Nona has been preparing sojme of her specialties for the Ristorante four some years hand this adds to the family feeling. For the evenings especially, it is best to call for a reservation.

Being of Italian decent, I have a high standard when It comes to Italian cuisine, and I’d swear they hired my nonna to make this food. Ritorno is nothing shy of disgusting. I am Italian, have traveled to Italy and have eaten at MANY authentic Italian restaurants in the GTA, and Ritorno is by far the worst. If you want REAL Italian food- try Marcello's (located in Vaughan) or Cibo Wine Bar (several locations in Toronto). My boyfriend ordered the Linguine Alfredo which was extremely undercooked. As we tried to tell the "Assistant Manager" the pasta was undercooked, she attempted to insult our intelligence explaining to us what Al Dente meant, I then let her know that I am Italian, and understand exactly what that means, but there is a huge difference between rock HARD pasta and Al Dente. We also got the Meat Pizza to split in the middle... again, GROSS is an understatement. The sausage, and all the of the assorted meats on top of the pizza really, tasted old and flavourless. The pizza dough itself also tasted like cardboard, which the "Assistant Manager" again, insisted that it is imported from Italy therefore it is impossible it can be "bad". All in all we definitely will not be returning here, this place doesn't even deserve to be in business.

The food was pretty decent, but not overwhelming. The gnocchi alla vodka was okay, but I found it a bit dull without any intense flavour. The linguine pescatore was quite nice. The price was a bit on the higher side. The service was friendly and attentive, but slow. There seemed to be too many small tables clustered closely, the dining atmosphere would probably be cozier and more comfortable if there were wider spaces between tables.

Have been eating at Ritorno for years best home made pasta and pizza and the bread is freshly made couldn’t stop eating it all the food is good tried almost everything on the menu never been disappointed and the chairs where comfortable to sit in. What I really like about Ritorno feel like I am back in Italy and you can bring your own bottle of wine. Ritorno has lots of options for wine and even for beer they even have the Italian beer Poroni. Julia and Matt work really hard and are amazing to every guest if you haven’t been really recommend try Ritorno.

I would have given a five-star to this restaurant for its sauces I am very disappointed this evening because I've ordered the same thing 3 times in the last 10 days and the first two times the pasta was in a larger container tonight I got the same thing for my two grandsons to split and it was in a smaller container. And there was less sauce. Inconsistency can kill a business I wish restaurants would be consistent. I don't recall seeing a discount on my take up Bill because I was being given less food. I would normally call and complain but understandably it's Saturday night and I'm sure they wouldn't give a damn. This probably will change whether or not I will eat at the restaurant or take out any longer

Went to Ritorno on a Sunday evening . The restaurant is beautiful! Feels very homey and comfortable, it’s very clean and the food is simply amazing ! My friend and I shared a Cesar salad , she got a veal parmagian and I had a Alfredo pasta with peas and mushrooms and chicken. Our waiter was just simply amazing ! Lauren is very very helpful, pays attention to detail and goes out of her way! Great restaurant!!! The Tirmasiu is so die for ! You must try this place.

This is not an Italian restaurant. Not much different from what you can get from other franchises like east side Mario's or Kelseys which has bigger portions and more reasonable prices. Portions were so small, still hungry after 2 appetizer and 2 pasta. Gave us some bread and charged for it, without asking us if we wanted it or letting us know that it was not complimentary. Pasta sauce tasted like modified bottled pasta sauce. Service is efficient but not friendly.

Went to Ritorno for the first time and my experience was fantastic. The restaurant itself has a very cosy ambiance with their wall of Nonna's being the star feature. The servers were some of the kindest wait staff I've interacted with, my server in particular, Sam, was very friendly and accommodating and gave my table excellent reccomendations on mains and dessert. I ate Nonna's gnocchi in Bolognese sauce and it was hands down the best gnocchi I've ever eaten. I highly reccomend coming here for an evening out with good food and atmosphere. And to help support this local business that I was informed also gives back to the local community.

Ritorno has to be my all time favourite restaurant. We’ve only ever actually had take out because of the pandemic, but the food is consistently super delicious and hot. The portions are also excellent. My favourite on the menu is Nonna’s Lasagna (never had a better lasagna - ever). We also love the Roasted Pear and Sweet Potato Salad and their Linguine Alfredo with Chicken. I can not rave highly enough about how good their food is. Looking forward to going into the restaurant and seeing the Nonna Wall in person soon!

First off, the staff were amazing. Good service and hospitality. The only reason for the two stars is due to the fact of me and my girlfriend waking up the next morning after eating dinner not feeling well in the stomach and experiencing some food poisoning like symptoms. We did have one of the seafood options from the menu and seafood is usually one of those things you have to take a risk eating out because of its high risk of being compromised. The food tasted well but this is the only thing we are currently having an issue with. UPDATE: My girlfriend is still sick to this day, Wednesday November 17.

Excited to finally eat at “Ritorno”, My husband specifically went in leaving my self and our sleeping baby in the car asking if there was a table of 2 readily available. One server told him yes, so we went into the restaurant, baby woke up, and we are waiting for our table. A female manager came up to us and asked if we had a reservation- we had said no. She said, “we are fully booked tonight”. I had said, “your server just told us he was getting a table ready”. The manager (blonde with glasses) just blantenly stared at me. No apology... nothing. Leaving us standing there, very awkward- I had asked for her to inform her staff that they aren’t taking anymore patrons leaving an opportunity for open conversation and an apology. However, she again, just stared at us... ignoring us. At this point, we were baffled. For such an “upscale place”, to not acknowledge a mistake on your end and to truly just stare, making us feel very uncomfortable and show no sympathy as a professional manager, I truly feel disrespected and will NOT be back. Unfortunately, I will be sharing with experience with friends and family that way their expectations won’t be so let down as ours were tonight. A lot of potential business has been lost from individuals whom live in the area. Good luck!

Covid patio experience: Hubby and I walked in without a reservation on a Thursday night. The patio is small and only has 6 tables, so do try to make a reservation. I believe they are opening the indoor dining rooms Fri. July 24. Before we were seated, we were told that we had to vacate our table by 7:00pm (gave us a little over an hour to eat). But despite this, the service was on the slow side (slow to take our table, slow to get the entree and tiramisu). Our waiter had a mask on the whole time and there were bottles of hand sanitizer both at the front of the restaurant and in the bathroom. Hubby and I both ordered the calamari appetizer. This was the highlight of our meal. Coated in cornmeal, the calamari was tender with both the ring pieces and tentacles (so it has to be the real thing!) and came with a nice dipping sauce. The portion was huge and we ended up packing some home. We also ordered the primavera pizza (super cheesy, great topping with the juicy tomates and crunchy broccollini; a thin pizza though it could've been crunchier in my opinion) and the veal parmigiana (huge portion, the veal was extremely thin, unfortunately all of this was on the soggy side). We finished off the meal with tiramisu (which they said are made daily in-house). While the flavours of the tiramisu was on point, I felt that the lady fingers were too soggy (it didn't taste like it was made today). Overall, we had pleasant experience and the staff were friendly and attentive. I would probably go back just for the calamari.

Disappointing customer service. Entitlement is alive and well here. After pointing out that their $25 Antipasto 'platter' had about 1/3 of the food it had previously, we were told it had changed and treated to a picture of the current platter and told it was to 'spec'. Given that this platter was 'drastically' different from the previous one and that we were regular customers who had the platter before, this could have been handled in a much more polite and professional manner. Instead the message (from the owners son) was clear; 'We dont value your business or opinion'. Unfortunately, on this day, the restaurant that supposedly honours 'nonnas' didn't show any respect to our 'nonna' who ordered and paid for these platters plus dinner/wine for our party of six. Sadly, this experience left a bad taste in our mouths and we wont be returning anytime soon.
