This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Restaurant.
So my rating is based on the wait endured before as after the order was placed, it took an hour wait for our order to come out and 20 minutes for them to bill us otherwise the food was really good honestly but no matter how food is awesome the wait is detrimental and annoying. Wait is awful and food is awesome. So there you have it.
Great food Tonight was just.to.load Highly recommended
This restaurant really deserves 5 stars because the food is absolutely incredible. The menu changes often and offers a number of modern fusion tapas, mains, and pizzas. The food is unlike any place I've been before offering items such as The Big Macka which are arancini balls that taste like a Big Mac. Don't bother coming if you're looking for your standard meat and potato dish. Everything on the menu has a modern twist to it, like their Grilled Cheese made with beets, goat cheese, honey and pesto. Every dish I've ever ordered in the past 4 years has been amazing in terms of taste, presentation, and price. And I've always had such a great experience every time I've visited. However my last visit was less than satisfactory. Service was severely lacking. Also try and get a seat away from the windows. They are poorly insulated and rely on space heaters to keep guests warm. Aside from the service I most recently had and the temperature, Plank truly is a gem in Oakville.
My wife and I have been to Plank many times with friends. The staff are friendly, the food outstanding, the only negative is that sometimes the music seems a little too loud. Overall, an excellent food experience!
A busy restaurant in the marina area of Oakville - obviously caters to a crowd that would like to have the varied menu options found in the city. I found it pricey for what you got (tapas style - the little plates added up quickly) but accidentally discovered that their dumplings are really shiao mai. The steak frites are really good. Some local beer on tap too.
Plank Restobar was a pleasant surprise as the food and atmosphere was amazing. The pizza was made really well and full of flavor. You could taste the freshness and quality of ingredients were not compromised. The staff were super friendly and given how busy this restaurant is, the service is relatively quick. Totally recommended!
Love this place! Been here a few times and it never disappoints. The food portions aren't big but they are good. They have a nice drinks selection as well!
My husband and I ordered take out and the food was INCREDIBLE (worthy of the capital letters)! We had the cauliflower fritters, warrior bowl and sliders. It was the best meal we've had in a very long time. Can't wait for lockdown to be over so we can go in person next time. Highly recommend!
Awesome food! Great atmosphere :)
Tried this restaurant for the first time today, over all I'll give this place 2 stars, I liked the patio, and the food was OK. I don't plan on rushing back here any time soon. Pro's Place looks cool Great location Patio is great to grab a drink and people watch Server was friendly Beef Cheek was good Prawn Stir-fry was good Con's Table only had 1 water glass when seated, took some time for a second one to come to our table (after apps), the server noticed right away but I guess forgot to bring another one until she saw us sharing a glass. Asked for GF options, our server pointed out only 4 items from the entire menu Ordered GF calamari -> came out with breading Opened napkin to find dirty cutlery (food, not water marks) GF calamari arrived over cooked and under seasoned (would not recommend) Asked for salt, server grabbed a small ramekin of salt / pepper / chilli flakes from the table next to us and put it down on ours. (Not a big deal but they could have had their fingers in it, and it kind of grossed me out, to be fair if it came from a table and I didn't see it probably wouldn't have bothered me) The snow peas in the stir-fry were not properly cleaned, the stringy bits where annoying to pick out of my mouth
I had the "Not Mushroom for Improvement" pizza. It was pretty good. My husband tried the duck poutine. I don't eat meat any more but he tells me it was really tasty. Atmosphere is laid back and the service was great.
So we went 3weeks earlier and did not have a reservation, they sent us home. Today we reserved and came right on-time. We were diverted to a table in the back end to which we didn't like and we stated it. BUT we sat. They knew what they did later by sending us their A class waitress, who skillfully changed our mood. The Tapas were flowing with astonishing fast service and a smile here and there we were full and it was a rather happy exit.
Our server was terrific. The food was very good and the atmosphere/music was great. The sangria was like drinking ice water and we were seated at the back door by the washrooms and fruut flies plural drove me nuts the whole time. So much for a fun Saturday night.
Overall the food was cooked and presented well. I had the steak and frites. Would've been nice to have some vegetables on the plate instead of half the plate bring frites (which were really just fries).
Cool atmosphere. American tapas is an interesting concept. Staff was great, new menu was intriguing. Wonderful bourbon selection
Yes, we're in the middle of a pandemic, but restaurants that only allow 1.5 hours for dinner and drinks is defeating the purpose of bringing people back. It's a terrible marketing strategy and if this is Plank's permanent marketing efforts, I won't be returning, even though the food was good. When we noticed the patio was 80% empty and asked to sit on the patio, the hostess wasn't very pleasant -- perhaps not her fault due to the chaos with servers hovering over her while she's trying to help people coming in. If you want a leisure afternoon on a patio overlooking the water, don't come here -- find a resto without so many restrictions.
Food was excellent, calamari was one of the best I've ever had and pizza was great as well. On the other hand the service was SHOCKINGLY HORRIBLE!!!. We didn't get a introduction from our server no recommendations he wouldn't let us sit where we wanted to sit, and throughout the entire lunch he came 1 time to bring out our drinks. No can I get you anything, or how was everything, or can I get you another drink NOTHING very disappointing experience lost a new customer would not come back again. I hope the owners have a chance to read this one over
Great restaurant! Love the food, service and location. They follow social distancing protocols and everyone is wearing masks.
I’d be cautious. I only had one bite and knew it was not cured and prepared. When I informed the manager he said “food poison symptoms take 3 hours. The owner was extremely crass. I’ll be reporting the restaurant to the FDA. He also threatened me saying that he willl post my email. I can’t believe how ignorant he was to not get that I was sick and perhaps he needs to review the standards for improvement . Shortly after I left my pain was bad I came in and asked for boiled water with lemon .. he brought me water with ice after I had to repeat myself, I needed hot water. Terrible manager, awful reply from owner. I hate to say all this place can offer is fried fried whatever”s Everything is about $15/17 and it’s only a few bites. The octopus is good because of the idea of tapas and usage of chorizo . Too small TINYTry Bar Isabella for octopus if in Toronto.
Tried Plank for lunch - bar atmosphere, food was ok. It's a resto/bar so it can be quite loud at times. We ordered a few appetizers + steak frites to share. The steak came out under done and had to be sent back. Second time it was cold. Finally, they decided to make a new portion altogether, which tasted much better the second time around. Bulgogi eggrolls didn't really have any 'bulgogi' flavour (just) mildly seasoned beef with a side of kimchi and spiced mayo. The mussels had no depth of flavour in the broth - I didn't taste the hard cider, tarragon butter or crema. Very watered down and disappointing for $19. I also didn't get any crusty garlic toasts with it, instead I received a sad piece of whole wheat bread that was neither toasted nor had any trace of garlic but just a smidge of unsalted butter. I would've opted for a pizza but after trying these items from the menu I decided against it. My cocktail was ok, but also tasted watered down. Disappointing as I was hoping for better food - Not sure I would return...
Cozy wooden but chic atmosphere. Great classic rock music (a touch loud so I wouldn't recommend for hard of hearing groups). Delicious fresh food and a great selection of cocktails. Perfect for a girls or date night! Great location by the lake, wonderful for post meal walks!
I had a fabulous time at Plank last weekend. I came in with some of my friends, and I believe our servers name was Paige. She was so enthusiastic, made wonderful recommendations and was on top of everything. We never needed to ask for anything, as she was always there and anticipated our every need. She was super kind and funny, and I will definitely be coming back soon. We got the sliders and baos as per her recommendation, and omg were they spectacular.
The service and food were excellent, as usual for Plank (a restaurant I have loved for a long time). The restaurant was so accommodating to our party, which included a baby in a stroller. They made sure we had space on the patio to have the stroller. I truly appreciated that. Our server was very friendly and attentive. However, I would have felt safer if our server wore a real protective mask instead of the clear plastic one that doesn’t actually do anything (as explained by many health and infectious disease experts). It doesn’t cover the nose and mouth. It does not offer true protection to the server or guests. I would have felt more confident in the restaurant’s efforts to make dining out as safe as possible. Especially since I was there with my baby who cannot receive a covid-19 vaccine and is therefore more at risk. In order for people with young children, pregnant women, people with asthma (or other conditions) to be able to engage safely with public life again, places like restaurants should ensure that they are taking EVERY safety measure possible. And that includes making sure employees are wearing proper protective gear, not just something that’s “for show”. As a former hospitality industry worker, I know how unfortunate it would be for more lockdowns to occur, which of course negatively affects restaurants and their employees. I understand that going out nowadays includes some covid-19 risk, but if we apply the safety measures we’ve learned about over the last year, we can lower most of the risk and continue with our lives as normally as possible.
Beautiful interior with a surprisingly versatile menu, The food was all great and the drinks weren’t watered down. Nice service with great food and a pleasant atmosphere makes Plank Restobar a place you must experience.
Service
Ceviche overpriced for size. Accommodated large party for 9 pm, the restaurant was busy though. Kimchi fries were a big hit. Pizza was tasteful. Cauliflower was good as well. A little dark in the restaurant, but a good vibe.
Great Location, Great Food This restaurant is in Bronte Harbour, a beautiful spot on Lake Ontario in Oakville. Interesting food at a good price.
Go! The food is fun, inventive, rich and delicious. I forgot our adorable servers name, but she was bright, friendly and a pleasure. Very cool and welcoming atmosphere. Will go back, and try out the OWL Wednesday's!
Great restaurant, great people, service and surroundings. Highly recommend this restaurant!
highly recommend the house sliders A-MAZ-ING! I drive 20 minuets there and 20 back just for those delicious little buns of awesomeness. THE BACON JAM!! puts hearts in my eyes. The lady chef there is THE BEST! wish I knew her name to give the praise because she totally deserves it. She keeps her cool, looks friendly, and makes a mean meal every time. they use to have duck wings which were the bomb dot com too - wicked location, great food, friendly staff. 10/10 you gotta eat here! :]
Great place! Good food and service. Walked down by the water after we ate and it was really pretty.
Place was Amazing... years ago. But now that I'm legally allowed to drink I decided to go over there for a drink and some food (I'm 20) and I sat down at the table with a buddy of mine and I ordered a beer just to learn that for some reason you need to be 21 to drink... will never go there again
Very pricy with tiny portions - veal schnitzel was the size of my hand without the fingers. Decor was cold and uncomfortable, floor looks like cheap laquered concrete. In terms of food it tasted alright but nothing special. The only part I really liked was our friendly French waitress.
Great location Food was quite good and portions are generous Duck poutine a must! Tapas style restaurant We unfortunately had a server who forgot one of our items which made the experience a little off as everyone was waiting a while to start eating plus we had to inform them about it and no apologies from them regarding it afterwards
Great place for sharing an eclectic and delicious assortment of tapas from around the world.
My accomplice stole a fork. The decor was amazing and the ambiance allowed for such skullduggery. Great Food, Fast Service & we’ll be back for more cutlery.
My girlfriend and I had lunch here for the first time last week. We had the calamari, seafood linguine and flat iron steak. With the prices they were charging, the food was not worth it - 2 out of 5 rating. We were better off going somewhere else. We were rushed so they can free up our table. I looked around and half of the tables were empty. There was also another table near us who was there before us and we noticed they weren't being booted out. I'm extremely disappointed, because I heard good things about this establishment.
The food was good, particularly the Zeus and pizza were standouts. This one star review is strictly concerning the service. We were allotted a 90 minute limit which we understood, however, our unprofessional server rushed us out of there after 1h15min. The server rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed about us placing an order at the 1hr mark. The most unpleasant part of this experience was her attitude and ignorance. We were a group of Asian women (different ethnicities, not that it matters) and she proceeded to ask if we were all related because we all happen to be Asian. I wonder if she asks all her patrons of similar background if they are related.... Management clearly needs to train their staff to be less obvious of their ignorance. Would not return, or recommend, especially if you are a PERSON OF COLOUR. FYI Plank is owned under Catch Hospitality Group (Por Vida, Boathouse, Firehouse, Duckies, Cucci all the same) I will be boycotting those places as well.
Gorgeous little place. Cuisine was quite creative and everything was delicious. Service was excellent!
I just moved to Oakville and everyday that I’m here at Bronte Harbour, the Plank is always packed. I went there for lunch on Canada day and now I know why, their service and the food is amazing! The American Tapas style is brilliant and I’d recommend anyone and everyone to come here!
Great food and great location.
Fantastic! Our bachelorette entourage stopped in for some snacks. The food was delicious. Sliders were my favourite. The breaded cauliflower was another's favourite. It was the perfect place to stop for the girls.
Food was nothing to write home about. Second visit this summer, will not go back a third time.
First time at the restobar and it was a great experience. We had the Little Rocket Man appetizer and it was delicious! The grill cheese and reuben sandwich is a must if you don't want a heavy lunch. We definitely will be back!
I was there yesterday with a friend (Dec 2016). We haven't seen each other in a while and talked quite a bit when we sat down. The waitress first came to the table to get us drinks then came back again to take the order. We still didn't decide what we wanted so she gave us more time. The waitress left for good and finally another waiter came after 30 min to take our order. When I received my steak is was cold and the fries were hot... I may go back and ask for that waitress again just so I can leave her a justified tip
My friend and I went for dinner and the food was not bad. However, there was about 5-6 fruit flies swarming our glasses our wine. We informed our waitress who said 'Oh let me go get something' and she never came back. The night was spent swatting away fruit flies away from our food and drinks, not the ideal dinner night out.
My friends and I went to Plank for one of our friend's birthday. The food was supbar to say the least, but the girls who were working there had the most unbelievably rude attitude that we have ever seen. For some reason, the group of girls working there kept STARING at our table and a few of us even overheard them talking about us. This childish and unneccessary attitude is one of the main reaons as to why we will never step foot into this restaurant. We were VERY polite, tipped well and ordered way more than the majority of other guests. Yet, we were stared at and talked about by all of the "little girls" working there. Pathetic.
We visited on a crowded night, and our experience reflected that - staff were rude on the phone when I called in advance of arrival; our server was inattentive, especially in taking our order; and my companion's squid was overcooked, though my entree was fine. I imagine we'd have had a better time at an off-peak hour.
Outstanding spot. Literally stumbled onto this restaurant doing a local search. Really glad that it happened. Great food, ambiance and service. Will visit again.
Meal type
We had the cauliflower fritters, brussel caesar and the steak frites. Even though at first we thought the serving size seemed small, it was actually perfect by the time we finished eating. Service was also excellent. The place can be busy and can get a little loud but that's a good sign
This restaurant is usually pretty good. Never minded the hour wait for a table. It’s good until you encounter a bad experience and the manager just makes you feel like an idiot. Got a pizza and a bunch of apps. Pizza came with a side plate of what looked like Parmesan cheese in a small tin bowl and chili flakes in a small tin bowl in the dim lighting. No one said what it was. Put the “Parmesan” on my slice and bit in to pure salt. Barf. Washed it down with beer. Told the manager and he basically just said “yeah that’s salt” and that was it. Didn’t ask if I wanted another pizza or offer some sort of resolution. Very disappointed. Won’t be returning anytime soon which is a shame as we went quite often.
Very nice evening . My wife and I tried Plank for the first time tonight. Our waitress Sarah was just right, attentive but not overbearing. Food was excellent. Cocktails likewise. We will be back.
With stylish rustic decor, this restaurant gives a really nice casual vibe. The short menu is perfect for a dinner or lunch with friends as the dishes are meant to be shared (which helps along with the conversation). The service was friendly and attentive. I shared a pizza and the smoked chicken tacos with a friend. The pizza crust is PERFECT, and I could have eaten a few more servings of the tacos; classic pub fair with a modern twist. When I visited on a Saturday afternoon it was fairly calm when I arrived, but quickly became busy by 6:30pm.
For my parents' 25th wedding I wanted to send them to a lovely place where they could have a romantic dinner. I had never been to Plank before but the reviews were mostly positive and the place looked really nice. I made the reservation through OpenTable, and in the special requests section, I specifically mentioned that it was for my parents' 25th anniversary and if they could do something special (I left it to their discretion) for them I would greatly appreciate it. Not wanting to take any chance, I called up the restaurant right away and verbally notified them of my parents' special day. The server over the phone said she made a note, and also notified her manager. I was satisfied that I had covered all my bases. When my parents came back, they didn't want to show their disappointment to me, but when prodded, they revealed two main problems. 1. Their server was very distracted/unenthusiastic. My parents ordered the deep-fried cauliflower, but said it tasted weird, and ended up not eating 80% of it. An attentive server would've noticed the untouched food and asked what was wrong with it. Their server just ignored the food and simply asked if they were done, and took it away. 2. THERE WAS NOTHING SPECIAL DONE FOR THEM. No wishing them by any of the staff. No free desert. No free drink. I know that everyone has off days, but someone knows their patrons are eating for a special occasion, it is their job to be courteous. I called up Plank the same night and asked to speak to a manager. I was transferred to Danielle (I think that was her name). She immediately apologized for their mistake and said that she was not the manager on duty when I made the call. She promised to look into it to see what Plank could do to make up for it. She took down my number, and that was the last I had heard from her. If she had contacted me to give me an explanation, I would not have left any review, because I understand that mistakes are made. I don't want anything from this review except for management to take note, so that they can avoid doing to someone else, what they did (or didn't do) to my parents
Enjoyed afternoon drinks and snacks at Plank. Nice patio overseeing the lake. Loved the duck poutine; it was so delicious and I highly recommend it.
Cannot believe the quality of the food here! The pesto steak sandwich and the meat & greet pizza were incredible! Try to pair it with a lake view table! Fun fact: check out the WC’s!
Food was excellent, never even got to a main as the appetizers were amazing. Wine list could be better but I would revisit in a heartbeat
DO check this place out... DONT order the bone marrow. Otherwise it was great. Solid service and generally very good food. BUT... Id totally avoid the bone marrow dish. Its maybe 1 oz of meat / poorly presented and not nearly a meal - especially not for $18 or so. Even for foodies - not worth it. Felt like a Jr chef's first stab at the dish :( The waitress recommended it as a 'go-to'... but i'd consider it a 'go-away' from the menu, please. LOL. Just saying... I'm a foodie as much as the next person and had great marrow other spots.
Fun, fun, FUN! Such a whimsical and cool place to dine! Love the sharing plates (like ALL of them!) - such a social place to eat with family and friends! Decor is stunning as is the view! A MUST do in Oakville!
Excellent food and service. Highly recommended
Love this place. Great atmosphere and a wonderful section of tapas styled dishes along with more heartier fare. Nice selection of beers on rap.
Visited in Aug 2020, very good covid restrictions in place. Outdoor was great. Food was AMAZING! Had this tuna thing in little cup, pizza, deep fried cauliflower, sliders. All really good.
Just called them over the phone and the female over the phone put me on a quick hold and that quick hold took forever and she never got to the phone to answer my question !!! Just by calling them I realized this place will never be a place I'd go or recommend. Rude Nasty Female Picked up the phone
Always start Canada Day at the Plank! It's a favourite restrobar where the food is eclectic, Tapas enticing and most of all Service bar none! Always feel welcome when Heather the manager, greets you with a smile and a hug for special patrons . The Staff are overly accommodating with such enthusiasm to ensure your visit memorable! Bronte on the Bay is a nice backdrop Never a reason not to stop in!

The chefs know what they are doing and the service was very good but the food was disappointing. We sent one dish back and the steak was average. It was my first visit and I had heard a lot of good reviews from friends so my expectations may have been too high.
The food was alright. The mango peach margarita was really good. My table was wobbly but Lindsey (our server) made it not wobbly. 5/5 would recommend.

I initially thought the menu was a bit over priced, but then i actually ate the tapas and the price was easily justified. Well balanced flavours. The duck poutine was generous with curds and duck and the trout's assertive smokiness was well complimented with the avocado's velvety rich texture. I look forward to sharing this spot with others.
The place looks great, however the food does not meet the same standards. Salad was $5.00, no flavour, dry, simply not appetizing. The meat was unsavoury, accompanied by a way larger portion of fries. No flavour as well. Too pricey for the portion and the quality of the food. As for the curry... well, it was okay and that’s about it. But definitely not worth that much. My best recommendation is to go for a friends night and eat the pizza and drinks. They seem to specialize in that.
Was closed. But this place is delicious. Amazing atmosphere and great vindaloo tacos, and the peach cobbler with ice cream was yummy and a great flatbread too. Menu changes often so you have to keep going back. Umm also best looking staff in the GTA. :)
Very good food. Small plates and larger entrées. Always a good choice. Interior is original and nice area as well.
Went on Canada day and food and service were on point. Tapas were excellent and so were the mains. Great beer selection. Great staff. Has a very casual and relaxed vibe.
Really nice wooden decor. Very warm and cozy feeling at night. Perfect for a first date night. They have a bunch of resto appetizers to choose from.
Great service but not enough food options
Great location and wonderful staff but the 2 menu items I was excited to try as this was my first visit were not avaliable?
Birthday meal at Plank, very pleasant lunch, delicious foods, warm service, will be back soon!
A little pricy for the tapas as some of the tapas portions are, well, tapas size but competitive prices for the downtown waterfront restaurant scene. Food is tasty enough as was the service. Take a waterfront stroll or do some shopping in the boutiques pre or post meal or drinks.
Service
Recently visited Plank with my wife and family. The food never disappoints here, and the service was great. The only knock was that one of the dishes (the shrimp and pork dumplings) took about 30-40 minutes to arrive.
Overall disappointing experience. We ordered tacos, meat was burnt and tortillas were stale. Pizza was delicious. Enchiladas and steak were mediocre. Service was poor, we waited forever to get our food and when it came only half of the table got their entree. The other people waited another 20 minutes to get theirs. After hearing great things about Plank I was excited to try it, but I would most likely not go back.
This is a unique resto bar nestled in the village of Bronte in Oakville. Excellent location with great views of the marina. Very trendy place with great service and ambiance. Very unique menu items with a well stocked wine bar.
Great service. GREAT FOOD. I wished I ordered the sliders. My daughter gave me a half of her slider and it was so delicious. We had the duck poutine, wings, and pork and shrimp dumplings.
Nice location in Bronte. The food was tasty and the wait staff friendly but the ambience was terrible. The huge turn off was the very loud music! We were in probably the quieter area of the restaurant but it was across from the washroom. Not a pleasant view. If you want a dining experience with conversation, I would not recommend The Plank.
Siobhan (sp) was THE best server we could have had. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Attentive. Made the food at Plank which is great on any day shine ! Thanks. We will be back for sure.
Great service, cocktails, and location! Well conceived menu, and appreciate the seasonal changes and additions. Would love to give 5 starts but there are too many cases when the well conceived menu don't get translated to consistent dishes from the kitchen. The great cocktails (especially good bourbon drinks) would greatly benefit from proper "on the rock" ice cubes/balls.
Great choice of different small plates to please everyone and service is always great. The menu doesn’t change too frequently so you can get bored if you a regular but it’s always a Fun menu! I wish for more salad options in future. We really miss the mac and cheese from a previous menu! Fruit flies inside resto were a problem this summer and last . . . Best to sit outside when you can during warm months.
The food here is always delicious. They change the menu around every once and a while too so everything stays exciting. One thing people should be aware of is that it is always busy for dinner time, even in the middle of the week. It's for this reason that I haven't gone too many times, but every time that I have gone the service has been amazing, especially considering how hectic it is in there. Not ideal for a quiet night out, but if you're feeling energetic and like being around people, this is the place to be in Bronte.
We come here often. Love the casual atmosphere and the food. And the staff are all very pleasant and attentive. That have tapas style plates as well as bigger bites and pizza...you have to try it!!
Dinner
Great food, service and atmosphere. They were very accommodating and we really appreciated the excellent level of service. We really liked the cauliflower fritters, sliders, calamari...and the pizza was excellent.
Fantastic!!! I really mean that. The food is truly excellent. The drinks are great. The service is equally excellent. The staff were attentive and helpful. The steak and fritas and pizzas were really good. Everyone was very happy. I will definitely be coming back.
Tried to try out plank for my brother's 30th birthday. Made a reservation for 5 people on a Tuesday night and were seated at a table down the hallway across from the bathrooms. Needless to say we didn't stay and they made no effort to accommodate us with a move to another table. Very disappointing
Great place. Only issue was the amount of fruit flies last time we were there. There was about 10 or so around our table , wish they would set up traps or something to deal with those.
Great food and friendly restaurant.
Great service and atmosphere, well priced and food was wonderful.
Great overall customer service & especially for our dog. Thank you to our friendly waitress and manager who made our first visit extra special on the patio.
Tried 5 items not one wasn't good. The hummus was something special.
LOVED this place. Atmosphere is a little noisy and crowded - and VERY busy so be forewarned, you will need reservations and may not be somewhere for quiet conversations. Food is on trend and absolutely delicious. Be careful where you park, we parked on the street which was fine - apparently you cannot park in some of the parking lots around the location.
I have always wanted to come to this restaurant, and yesterday I finally did. We were somewhat late for our reservation but they still sat us down with no fuss. The food came promptly, and our waters were filled continuously. I had the duck wrap with crispy chickpeas, and my date had the margarita pizza. I personally would have liked the fries that came with the duck wrap to have been a thicker cut, but that's just a teeny tiny detail. Nothing too big to worry about. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back again. Wonderful place and amazing food and service.
Great restaurants with a beautiful view! The food was great and the service was fantastic. We were in a bit rush and the server help us rushed the order and all those dishes were amazing! Love it and would for sure go back when we are not in a hurry to enjoy the environment more.
The food here is amazing and the location is hard to beat! Went with some friends on the holiday and got appetizers, drinks and mains. The crispy cauliflower was amazing, I wasn't a huge fan of the risotto mac balls because they are heavier and richer but still good! The pizzas were amazing as were the drinks. The food is very well priced for the size and quality, but the cocktails are on the pricier side. Speed and attentiveness of service was the only real pitfall, as well as the lack of vegetarian options for our one friend (but I normally don't care about this not being a vegetarian myself, just an honest review). We will definitely be back soon!
One of the most important elements of the beauty of this place is that it's original. Which gives the staff the family culture which by itself transferred automatically to the guests who feel at home at the plank... It's my after a long day at the office getaway... The quality of service, food choices of drinks is endless. I call it home. And I think this comes from management or the owner of the restaurant! It's a chain of reactions transformed to performance, excellent top service then guest satisfaction... Thank you guys for a job well done ????
Great menu, good ambience. However my stir fry noodles dish was mediocre mainly because it was swimming in oil. See the pic. Yuck. My colleagues enjoyed their dishes so I think I just chose the wrong thing.
Great Steak and Frites for a good price. On busy nights sometimes a little wait for the outside tables. But well worth it. Great bartender and waitstaff. No local beers on tap though:(
Meal type
I have never sent my thanks to the chefs! Amazing food! If you are there, try their Nachos and Sliders. The sauce on Nachos and caramelized onion on the Sliders wow wow wow! I can eat there and everyday without getting bored!
Very good vibes on the inside during precaution times with tables nicely spaced out. There is also seating outside. Food was good but only complaint is the inside had a lot of flies. 3-4 flies were bothering us at any given time.
We made a reservation for the patio as we were travelling with our yellow Labrador dog. We were told there was no guarantee as they don’t usually hold patio tables but when we got there we were delighted to see they made an exception. Well done and thank you Plank Restobar! It was a beautiful evening and they were playing some great music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. But their menu is new age fusion with very tasty ideas. The dumplings are handmade with deliciously spiced and prepared pork. The steak frites comes with chimichurri sauce and blue cheese butter -a nice blend of spicy and cool. The frites were handmade and nicely crisped. The shrimp stir fry was fresh with lots of vegetables and noodles. The steak sandwich was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The ambiance outside was very friendly with many staff saying hello to our dog and making sure we had everything we needed. Two thumbs up.
Outstanding restaurant. Beautiful decor amazing menu, food is delicious. Staff is friendly knowledgeable and fast. What more could you ask for it's an amazing restaurant. Five stars
It’s great. You can be fancy and dine here. You can be casual and grab a bite. You can walk your dog and sneak a beer in. Staff are all amazing.
10/10 review! Place is fantastic! Food is absolutely amazing and the service is great. Overall awesome atmosphere and great experience! Our go to spot! Updated review; keeps on getting better, menu has slightly changed, some new fresh delicious options available. Pints are always cold and food is always amazing! One of my favourite restaurants to this day.
One of my favourite restaurants in Oakville. Great atmosphere, great small plates. I've had many things on the menu - all delicious!
Made reservations online over a week ago for 4:30 pm on the patio. Today when I recieved the email to confirm my reservations, I checked if they had later tineslots. They did indeed for 6:30, so I modified my booking. When the 3 of us arrived they said our table was inside. I didn't book a table inside and whe I modified my booking that wasn't an option. The greeter told me it was and it wa my mistake. I went into my booking and modified it for a later timeslot and I indeed was correct, it does NOT say the booking was indoor. If you are going to correct the customer, you should ensure the information you are telling them is correct! They did end up finding us a table on the patio. We sat down to order, they didn't have the calamari (one of the reasons we came here) we ordered nachos and cauliflower to start, and ordered 3 bigger plates for dinner. After 45 minutes our server came and said there was a mistake and they had thought our order had been brought out. It hadn't! She said they were taking care of the nachos on the bill. We were patient, and had our 5 year old with us. Finally the apps arrived and no more then 5 minutes later all of our order was on the table. Barely any room and now we felt we were rushed to eat everything at once as they only want you seated for 90 minutes. We felt very rushed and did not enjoy our experience. To top it off, when the bill arrived, they didn't even take care of the nachos!!! Very disappointed with our experience tonight!
Excellent experience. Have visited several times. Reservations are a must as it fills up quickly! Plates are not small, but don't expect an overflowing plate as you would from a sweatshop chain restaurant. Excellent service and food quality is what keeps us coming back. This is a must visit.
Exceptional food. I ordered the House Sliders and Shirley Temple and it was awesome. Very kind staff. During busy days, the wait can be a bit long but overall a great experience. 10/10!
Rather a funky menu as it is hard to know how much to order. If you are fine wasting food or are happy with leftovers. ...order away. Otherwise expect a longer meal as you order up what seems sensible, only to find you are still hungry, and need to order more. When they have the daily braise, it is usually a good pick. Noisy inside, patio outside a nice option, but it is first come first served. ..no reservations for the patio.
Awesome food and environment. Great little spot, the duck poutine is life changing. Apps were also really good. The bathroom is tiny, if you're a taller person consider yourself warned lol
The new menu is awesome. Excellent variety. So many tasty temptations. Who doesn't want to chow down on homemade tater tots? Cauliflower fritters are always a great choice. The risotto "big macs".yum! Service is always outstanding...like the tunes. Still one of my favourite places to chill out with friends.
Food is great and service is extremely experienced. We were attended by this great person and her way of showing us what's popular and has a great taste was excellent. We had the kids with us and they loved their pizzas. Listen people, What I love about this place is the atmosphere, the patio, the taste, the location and I can't stop writing all the good things. by the way I don't work here and never worked in the food industry. 8 just love to eat.
Not happy with food taste also some dishes came with delays therefore we had to wait. I hope management pay attention for future.
First patio to dine at after the last lockdown. So happy I chose to come here with my friends. Place is awesome. Close to the waterfront. Little summer gem in Oakville. The food was amazing! The service was great. Our server was a sweetheart! My faves on the menu were the watermelon sugar salad and the Big Mac arancini balls. The tempura cauliflower was also tasty as was the pizza and the bao app. Highly recommend for a chill summer type vibe and for delicious apps and finger foods.
Love Plank - its become our go-to for everything from after work drinks on a thursday, to an intimate dinner with Hubby! A gorgeous view of the lake, great foods in perfect portion sizes, and friendly service! Worth a visit!
Highly recommend the beef sliders. Really interesting tapas menus. Creative flavor combinations. Lively atmosphere and friendly wait staff. Great view of the harbor. Fun.
Service was great the drink was different loved it the food was special had great taste i tried the dumplings and enjoyed the heck out of it. Thank you guys we will be back.
Dinner
We had a pizza & poboy, left very happy & satisfied
Great atmosphere, old wood decor, friendly, knowledgeable staff, good variety of food, excellent
Lovely meal. Tons of delicious options. Waitress was the perfect amount of attentiveness. She also said they will have the expended patio till November 4th. With plans of getting some kind of patio heater
Everything was over salted, steak frites, fried rice, shrimp. Couldn't get past the saltiness to actually taste the food. People at the next table said the same thing. Waitress was awesome though, so no issue with service.
Long waits, but what a great spot. Just have a drink at the bar as it is well worth the wait. A very unique menu to satisfy everyone's pallets. Have fun!
Good food but small portions. Paid $15 for their "weekly special meat" dish which was two small octopus extremities. Something they have on the menu already but charge a premium since it's the "special". Delicious, yes....but way over priced for what we got.
guys, please avoid that restaurant, someone there who presented herself as the manager and owner just dismissed three ladies because one of them didn't like the kind of cheese on her nachos, the customer told the server that she will still pay for it but she wanted a different dish, she came from behind her and told her that's enough I don't want you in here , please leave, and the customer told her why I said I'll pay for it but I cannot eat this kind of cheese. she still insisted they leave.very impolite and arrogant.
Had lunch on Patio March 19. Calamari, tuna and pizza where great. Shrimp was WAY to salty- never have I ever seen salt crystals on tempura like that! Service was poor. Waitress was very rude. Waited till end of meal to apologize and comp’d us our pizza. “I hope I didn’t ruin your day” -I don’t let anyone have that kind of power on my life- would have been better if apology felt more sincere and wasn’t given prior to bill and tip…
Great appies. I had the mac & cheese. Hearty meal, excellent. Well made drinks & reasonably priced. Cosy & interesting room.
The appetizers were good and main’s were alright. Our waitress seemed to forget about us quite a bit at the end when we asked for the bill (twice) - we ended up waiting around 20 min just to get the bill and leave.
I was with our son celebrating a belated bd. The small bites..dumplings and pork belly were excellent ! Our pizza #1 on the list was loaded with toppings! We will return!
I have been to Plank many times and have really enjoyed the food. I am now gluten intolerant and the only items on the menu that I can are the salads and grilled calamari. No effort whatsoever has been made by the chef to make any other items on the menu gluten free. I will not be returning to the restaurant until there are some attractive gluten free options available.
Great food and Service. We had the peppers, cauliflower, risotto, sliders, chicken in waffles and the chocolate dessert. My Favorite was the Shishito Peppers! If you're in Oakville this is a must visit! Go in a group so you can order more!
Great view, great food, always friendly and accommodating staff. Wish the patio was bigger or heated for winter as I can't get enough of this place and it's beautiful vibe.
Nice little restaurant bar meeting place in Bronte. We ordered a pizza but the kitchen had difficulty with the dough and our order was significantly delayed. After apologies the food arrived and was delicious. We were not charged for the pizza. Clearly management practices customer service and satisfaction.
I called ahead to make a reservation. I was told that I could do it online or walk in. When I arrived at 8 pm I was told they were not taking me in. I ask to speak with a supervisor and she replied the same. She said I was given wrong information over the phone. And that they were fully booked until 12 pm. She was rude and I felt that she didn't want me and my family there. I walked away and half an hour later I pass by again and they were almost empty. I just don't want to think that they discriminate us. But they should provide correct information because it was my son's birthday and we ended up walking around to find a place. Very disappointed.
Such a cute little place hidden all the way in Oakville. Beautiful location, you face the lake if you get seated in the patio. The menu too, is very unique yet simple - a melange of Italian, Japanese, Indian and fast foods. Ambience is amazing, very cozy vibe. Wish they had desserts though.
Cute little spot by the water. Great food, I had the brussel sprouts and gyros tacos and they were both super yummy. Fast and friendly service as well!
Found the food to be absolutely exceptional at Plank! My friends and I enjoyed the Bits & Bites side of the menu and ordered five dishes to share - Take a Bao, Shrimp Tempura, Salt-n-Peppa Calamari, Cauliflower Fritters (taking one star off bc I just realized we didn’t get/receive this dish), and Tijuana Street Nachos (asked for the pork on the side). Service was good - our waitress checked in on us regularly and food came out at a nice pace. Definitely coming back.
I went here once back in 2015 and loved that they had pulled pork pancakes.. Yes, you heard me correct! I went back recently and realised they changed the menu but holy moly was it good! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming and the food was amazing! I highly suggest PLANK!
Food is really great. Service is amazing. Our servers were all so kind. We sat outside and had heaters around us. Close to the lake, really beautiful. Will definitely be back!
Super amazing place! The vibes, the service, the food were all so incredible! I was super impressed with everything this place had to offer. Not to mention the views of the waterfront! It's a constant rush of people Coming in! Definitely a place I would recommend
Their patio accommodates several with six tables for four in the tent covered patio allowing good safe social distancing.
Literally one of the best tapas I've been in a while we cleared the plates. Everything tasted so fresh. The pizza was light and delicious. The chicken satay was just phenomenal and the atmosphere was so welcoming.
Great place for drinks + tapas or full mean. Inspired and fun cuisine. Attentive staff. Be sure to use metered pay parking or paid lot. Lots of towing off private lots in this area.
Interesting place, great atmosphere food looks amazing, service was not on par. Was sat facing a wall, then when date and I were ready to go, spent 15 minutes cranking my head around trying to get server's attention, while she was at the bar chatting with a carryout customer. The whole experience was unenjoyable, too bad, because I had high hopes. Update: So I decided to give Plank another shot and this time was impressed. Tracey was my server this time around and she was great, the food was very good and Plank just earned back both star's. Noticed fruit flies all around the table and the table and a chair were out of balance, but much better experience this time.
I was meeting up with some friends at Plank on a Saturday night, we arrived at about 7:00pm and had drinks at the bar while we waited for a table. It was almost 40-45 mins until we were finally seated...luckily, we relocated from beside the washrooms to outside in the patio. The menu has a variety of options- and in my opinion- maybe too many. It’s a mix between American, Canadian, and some Asian. We ordered the duck poutine, calamari, Reuben sandwich, short rib bites, and Mac daddy. Underwhelming to say the least. It’s a great spot by the lake, but for the price and portion size I’d recommend coming here for some drinks and apps, and going elsewhere for a full meal.
We had been eyeing this place for a long time and finally made it in for their unique and delicious menu options. Music was awesome and the staff were helpful. Will definitely visit again soon!
I really enjoyed the food! Great assortment of tapas style snacks! Best of all is the location ....right at the harbour in Bronte neighborhood in Oakville.
Went there to celebrate a friend’ birthday, a group of seven, it took longer then it should to get the food, but was tasty and great price hardly anything over $20. The desert was amazing and good portions, was enjoyable overall I would go there again
Food was ok but not happy with the service. The old lady server was not nice. Rushed and I can hear her being annoyed about us taking time deciding what to order. I felt being rushed. Looks like she is not happy with her job... I don't recommend the place especially for person of colors.
Wonderful time for a birthday dinner. We had the tuna poke, fried cauliflower, beef sliders, and duck taquitos. Highly recommend the tuna....tastes very authentic with a nice wasabi kick. Kitchen is open and intertwined with the barb which is interesting and fun to watch if your seated near.
Really liked the decor and atmosphere. The cocktails were definitely on the sweeter side but still delicious. The food was really great. The only thing I didn't like was the presentation on the sushi. It still tasted good. Our waitress was really good and attentive. She answered a couple questions about the menu with ease.
This place is amazing. Ive flown in from Calgary to visit and this is a must! Food, service, atmosphere...so good
Great food and awesome atmosphere. The Bao sandwich appetizer was excellent! Good spot for date night, or a few casual drinks and apps. I’ll definitely be coming back here in the near future. Service was extremely helpful too. Good local spot to visit!
Randomly landed at Plank on a wi day afternoon. Very Old town style place. Perfect location, good food. Kept 1 star just because of the decor. It needs little upgrade. The patio is beautiful especially in summers.
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere and great company. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Underwhelming. Food was presented well but had no flavour. Pork tacos: pork had no taste. Not enough salsa verde to lubricate the taco. Pickled onions where balnd. Not completely pickled. Should be softer and more vinegar taste. Tacos could use some queso fresco like typical authentic tacos. Sliders: chick beef with some chesse on a egg bun. Beef was not seasoned or anything, there where no savoury juices or flavour. Just dry chuck on a bun with cheese. Atmosphere and service are good!
I was in town for work and this place was recommended. The food was amazing and the beer was just as good. The place was crowded even for a Tuesday night so be ready for a wait, but it is worth it.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly! The atmosphere is great as it beside the harbor. The food was absolutely delicious. My partner and I ordered cauliflower fritters, nachos, the warrior bowl, and homeslice pizza ( all amazing). Our waitress, Gillian was lovely and so helpful ! Would definitely go back and 100 percent recommend .
Good cocktails and location make this place a must try if you love around this area. I wish they had some more vegetarian food options. Also, I ordered something that I thought was vegetarian but it was not so we didn’t eat that. I feel that the server should have checked why we didn’t eat that at all!
Great food and service. Ordered 3 of the "Bites and Bites" for 2. Was plenty of food. Ordered the cauliflower, jerk chicken wings and nachos. All very good. The wings had a dry rub which we weren't expecting but still very good.
Dinner for 2. Restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. Service was very quick and friendly. It's a loud atmosphere but everyone was having a great time. We had duck poutine and sliders to start which were both amazing. Good list of Bourbon and wine. We will be back!
Enjoyed lunch much more than supper here. Was over crowded at supper. Had a thin crust pizza at it was very well prepared. Service was very friendly.
Came here for dinner with my fiance and it was super tasty!!!! We absolutely love tapas and the tapas here was amazing! The service was awesome...the atmosphere was so cool and exactly what we look for! The good was soon good!! The rings were to die for!! Shout out to RP!!
Great staff and good food. The fried cauliflower was fresh and delicious!
No joke...this place is really the best! The music, the food, the staff, the mixed drinks....the energy....the location... everything is wonderfully unique and Plank has become a joyous institution in Oakville!!
I am extremely upset with the treatment I received from the staff. I felt singled out and pressured to leave so they can serve “new” customers when there were 3 empty tables surrounding me. Unfortunately, I do feel like race played a factor. If you are a person of colour I do not recommend visiting this restaurant.
The location is good facing Lake Ontario. The quality of food is good. The interior is rustic with Covid-19 social distancing in place. They had a limited supply of mineral water and food. For this reason we couldn't get what we wanted. There was confusion about which menu was available and the special menu and other tables have different menu's. The waitress couldn't explain why this discrepancy in the menus. The waitress service was fair. We had 4 bits and bites (appetizers), 1 beer, 1 soda and the bill was $81.00. I will think twice before I would come back to this restaurant again.
Very nice food and place. Worth it.
Amazing place. Sliders are fabulous and cauliflower fritters are wonderful. Simply lovely staff. Eat a lot or a little. Great atmosphere Even BETTER than ever Where do they find such wonderful happy staff? The sliders are spectacular and the STEAK FRITES are out of this world.
Had a great time at this place the other day - food was very tasty and the atmosphere was great - staff are very friendly - was packed on a Friday night so get there early if you want a table ! Cheers
Thank you Doug (owner) for acknowledging that we have a problem in Bronte with the parking, and cars getting towed. I never said the restaurant is running a scam, its the property owner and the tow truck company. I know of several people that have been robbed of ~$400 for a tow.... how is that not stealing?
Excellent pizza. Beautiful looking staff. Few cougars and panthers. Food is amazing. Set in the heart of Bronte Village great place to go for a walk after a great meal
WHAT CAN I SAY? This has always been one of of our favorites ❤! AND OF COURSE, every other one in their group. Tonight, thanks to a mixup, Kristy went way and above the call of duty. Thank you Kristy and hopefully ???? Dave and I will be there all summer to enjoy your beautiful smile ???? and service. Anne Duff .
Waited long for a table and then our car was towed and spent $400.00 to have it returned. Keep in mind - the restaurant to DISHONEST and will not tell you when you enter but only a tiny notice on the door after you've dined and about to leave on your way out when you've spent your money. Not going back there ever.
Good atmosphere great food and very decent prices. Had the duck poutine for $15 and it was a pretty decent size, filling enough! Definitely the best in Bronte!
This is one of my favourite places in Oakville! The food is always amazing and I love bringing my friends here to try it out! However, my last visit was a bit disappointing. I just believe with a time limit on a table the server should be more attentive.
Great concept, comfortable environment for a social dinner, there's a patio with a pleasant view. Staff are A-1 (service is excellent). I had a cauliflower appetizer that was delicious, house greens side salad (not listed on the menu, but ask your server) , and two virgin Caesars for $22. Parking seems plentiful (visited Tuesday at 630pm ). Reservations are a good idea, it was hopping on the Tuesday evening. I noticed the had several special events/theme nights on their announcement board (Cinquo Dr Mayo, for example). (Menu has tiny print, bring your readers).
Great decor. Like walking in to a ski lodge. Good service. All the staff was fast to assist and were all very friendly. The food was bland. Had a type of beef pie and the mac and cheese with beef, neither had any seasoning we could taste. Wish I had tried the pizza.
So so good. The best tapas in town. Amazing experience and service for a date night.
A very pleasant restaurant with creative dishes, great service, and pleasant vibe. The outdoor patio is awesome. The prices are quite reasonable. We have enjoyed it very much.
In town for work and decided to check this place out because of the good reviews. It exceeded my expectations, as the food, service, and atmosphere were all fantastic. I ordered the Shishito peppers and the steak on ciabatta sandwich and both were very flavorful and decent portions. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the Oakville area!
Food was good.. Waited 45 min for a table... Car ended up being towed from lot as no one informed patrons of where NOT to park. Dinner. $125... Tow $400.. Don't go here unless u have money to burn
I just want to say we sat by the window and the view was amazing. Server was perfect. Food was perfect we got the Mongolian pork appetizer, chicken and waffle and my goodness the lobster mac and cheese was so great. We are trying to figure out who to bring here first.
The calamari is lightly battered and just delicious. The server was kind helpful and I enjoyed the service she provided. The atmosphere and rustic look of the restaurant is unique and well put together. I tried many other items on the menu which I honestly didn't care for at all. That being said the Mac and cheese is good. I'd honestly like it more if I didn't have to search for the meat, but that's just me. The view of lake Ontario is a bonus but not enough for me to return.
Came in about a half hour before closing but needing something to eat. We were told upfront only salads and pizza which was fine. Very friendly staff, they made us feel welcomed. Ordered pizza with sausage peppers. It was fabulous. Thanks for a great meal.
Hands down my favourite place to eat in Oakville. The cozy atmosphere and little candles on the table make you feel warm during a cold winter night! We love their duck poutine! They change their menu's seasonly I believe so you always have a variety of options to choose from! I'm a huge fan of cider and always go for the west avenue cider that they offer! Definitely a must try if you haven't been.
Amazing shareable and very tasty bites. Great service and patio area.
Great food...good service!
Always solid. These guys run a consistently great operation. And the added patio space is well done and well run. Kudos to Plank for establishing itself as a Bronte mainstay and favorite.
Food was really good, service was slow though. Took an extremely long time for the food to arrive. Definitely get the sliders!
The Korean fried chicken (take a bao) is so flavourful and delightful. The under a summer sun is very good as well, but the take a bao was the winner. Great service, food came fast. Will come again
Definitely the pearl of bronte harbour!! Fantastic food and great staff. You have to eat here!!! Has been my favourite restaurant in bro te since it opened. They are always doing new dishes to add to old favourites and have great wines to pair with any of their dishes. Their knowledgeable staff is always there to help. It’s simply the best...!
Service excellent. The warrior salad is delicious with a touch of heat.
Perfect atmosphere, great older music, friendly staff, clean, great food
I love love love this place. Love the location. Love the views. Love the design/decor. Love the service. Love the food. Every visit is a food adventure as menu changes so often and keeps it interesting. Whoever is responsible for creating plates is amazing. It’s not cheap- but that’s because it’s impossible NOT to order so many things off the menu as you want to taste it all. Been here so many times I lost count. Felt the need to write a review years later as this is the FIRST place that I wanted to book a table at the moment they lifted covid restaurant closures... and that’s exactly what I did. Looking forward to eating here this weekend!!!! UPDATE! Felt the need to mention this for the bfs and hubbys. My hubby looks like a football player and is rarely comfortable dining out in small chairs. The patio seats here are HUGE he had so much room and couldn’t get over how nice it was for once that he didn’t have to squish himself into a seat. Amazing.
It seems really popular so plan ahead a get a reservation. Really great food here and good value for what you pay. Perfect for date night as it's right by the waterfront.
We ordered 4 tapas items to share instead of ordering 2 full meals. We really enjoyed it!
Plank knocked it out of the park. The best damn dinner I've had in a while. The steak was cooked perfectly. Melted in your mouth. The pizza was dynamite. And the Mac Daddy appetizer was a favourite. Really cool interior that had a classic throw back look to a neighbourhood bar. Servers were super helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
Out table shared a variety of appetizers - all good. Service and location were great! Make a reservation before you go!
Really nice ambiance. A posh pub! It's not rowdy. Staff is super friendly. Love their plank bowl!!!! It's a really filling salad bowl. One serving is good for a hungry person
Loved my meal, server was mostly great, but it spoiled it for me when I ordered something, didn't receive it at all, and had the waitress tell me I never ordered it in the first place. Rule #1 of customer service, you don't tell them they're wrong. Especially in this case since I wasn't. The basics. Going to Yolanda's next time I'm in the area.
Took my team here for a small Christmas lunch. The foow was delicious. I reccomend the deep the Beena and deep fried cauliflower, nice and crispy without being over breaded. This spot is flexible for vegetarians while still having a well rounded menue. There is also a nice view of the lake. There is also some fun style, they had these eclxcelwnt 1960's ski posters up and a 1938 Coca-Cola sign which added a nice touch.
❤❤❤Great friendly service, steak was awesome and the chef secret sauce was the best I ever have it. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Definitely I will recommend you and we will be back❤❤❤
The dishes are great. The flavours are amazing, the menu has alot to offer. The location is second to none right across from the water. Depending on day and time I've had the staff forget some dishes and the timing of them could he a tad better but that comes with the territory of tapas and ordering 10 dishes in a crazy rush time. Check it out if you have never been and everything on the menu is bomb.
Love the Tapas style food here. Great ambiance as well.
Nice patio but the food was just alright. Mainly fried options, it was tasty but I would prefer some more fresh options. Also drinks were decent. Service was great, friendly staff.
Food was amazing and so was the service!
Great dinner last night. Casual place for a great meal and great service. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly! Food was also great!
The place looks promising from the outside and has a charming patio outside overlooking the lake. Inside is also nice, has a descent hipster chic feeling. The food however, especially the appetizers leave a lot to be desired. The wings are pretty bad, the fish tacos were the only thing worth our time. The beef sliders were also not great, definetly not as advertised.
Best restaurant in Bronte. Good food, good food.. This is what a restaurant is for.. Atmosphere and quality food.. ????
Came here on a birthday lunch date with a friend. Pleasantly surprised. Great cocktails & filling salad. Cute area, nice atmosphere with decent views if you are lucky enough to get a table by the window. Our waitress was friendly and sweet to deal with.
Very poor customer service. I made reservations 3 days in advance and gave the lady over the phone a heads-up about the traffic. We were a party of 8 coming from Mississauga on a Thursday. The reservation was at 6:15-6:30. We were stuck in traffic. I received a text from the Plank at 6:27 asking me if we are still coming or should they forgo the table. I texted back saying we are on our way please keep it. We arrive at 6:45 and the table is GONE, that is 15 minutes late. Now, we need to wait another 45 minutes to be seated. Very disappointing situation as this was for my sister’s goodbye gathering. We went next door to Cove Bar, very nice and cozy place and they were able to take us in right away with no hassle.
Very welcoming and nice view from the window seats. Food was excellent! They serve small dishes to share. A lot of attention goes into each I noticed
Great experience here! Loved the atmosphere. Very busy spot, so if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, plan on waiting for a table. Also, they don't take reservations after 5:30pm on Friday or Saturday. Great to go with a few friends so you can sample different plates. Enjoyed everything we ordered, however the Mac Daddy (gnocchi dish) was my favourite. Don't let the small menu and small plates fool you, it's actually quite filling. Indoor and outdoor seating. Nice view of the Harbour and lots of free parking, either in the adjacent lot or along the side streets. Decent prices for the amount of food. Great service & friendly staff. I will definitely be returning here soon!
Great spot! This place was on my list for a while. Stopped in for lunch, they have a great seasonal menu. The duck poutine is the best! The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is that the online menu said they had a beef cheek mac n cheese but when I got there it wasn’t on the menu. Hopefully it comes back!
Plank is my favourite restaurant in the area. It is a bit expensive but it is amazing. Their sliders are top notch. I tried almost their whole menu but every few months they change something making you go there every time to try new things. Too bad for those that gets in love with a plate and they changed after a season. If you have never been there, get there early, usually is super busy in peak hours and they don’t take reservations at those times.
Stopped by last night during the storm. Sat at the bar and the food was amazing, service great and ambiance... superb. Didn't want to leave. This restaurant is a true gem.
Went to their 2019 new years eve party ... had a great time ... appetisers were tasty, Band was grooving, and the staff (especially Lauren) were awesome.
I wanted to take a minute to thank you for looking after our 'Wedding Rehersal' party of 27 people on October 11th. The atmosphere was awesome!! Jade & Carina looked after our 4 tables and you couldn't ask for better customer service! The music was upbeat and set a perfect volume as it allowed us to carry on conversations without having to raise your voice to be heard. I have already recommended your "Restobar" to others. By the way, the 'Slider' burgers were absolutely awesome! Thanks again. Jim Carney
The beet hummus is to die for! They are always changing up the menu to provide the freshest ingredients, depending on the season. All of thier food sounds so good and is so delicious that you won't be able to decide on what you want. I personally love thier pizzas. They have the most unique flavours that keep me coming back for more! Make sure to call ahead or book a reservation bucasue this place is always packed and you will know why once you try the food!
First time there was fabulous. The food was outstanding, the service great and even though the place was crowded and lots of conversation we had a most enjoyable, fun meal. Second time - not a good experience. Parking was a real challenge, but the staff were understood we were being about 10 minutes late for our reservation. We were seated right next to the bar and under a speaker blaring so loudly we couldn't hear unless we shouted - even then, it took a few tries and neither of us is hearing impaired (that might have been a benefit - not exaggerating!) My guest is a senior so I asked that they move us to a table with a bit less noise - we were offered another table also near a speaker. Some of the staff were kind and apologetic - others were dismissive and even a bit snarky with eye-rolls. At that point, in spite of the fact that we had been very much looking forward to the dinner, we opted to walk down the street to another resto where conversation was possible. The Plank isn't a dance club so perhaps lowering the volume at 6:30 pm on a Thursday might be allowed. May give it another try when I can snag one of the prime tables outside or near the windows where there are no speakers directly overhead. My first experience was excellent and I really was looking forward to tonight.
Came here for a birthday yesterday. The food was actually pretty good overall, especially the cauliflower fritters and Korean baos. However, the warrior bowl was a massive disappointment - the rice was undercooked. We asked for a teaspoon twice and did not receive it - I understand they are busy but it was a bit disorganized. The cocktails were very watered down and filled with ice - a waste of $13. If you're wondering if they remembered it was a birthday on the reservation, they did not, and nothing was done. Good food but watery drinks and poor service. I'd have to be convinced to go again
If you have an opportunity when in Bronte Village to experience the best hospitality and Tapas cuisine from the South Shore of Oakville. It is an absolute must to dine, enjoy the amazing ambience and wonderful extended drink menu options. Not to mention... The warm welcome where everyone knows your name :-) I look forward to my next visit to Plank!
Dropped in for a late Sunday lunch based on recommendations. The restaurant is located south of Lakeshore on Bronte rd across a scenic harbour. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, we were seated right away and presented the menu on a board, the idea of this place is to order these small “tapas” to share and sample different foods, the menu has lots of unique takes on items, we had the duck poutine, “mac balls” a take on fast food, with meat rolled in a risotto and covered with lettuce and special sauce ( this item I did not enjoy) and lamb curry tacos ( which we did enjoy very much) By the time we finish these three plates we were stuffed, although the server suggested 3-5 items, we were done at 3! I felt the pricing was reasonable for such unique dishes made with fresh local ingredients as listed on their menu. I will come back to try some other items out of curiosity that caught my eye.... maybe even one if the pizzas that looked good. But would I say this is the best place to eat and that I was 100% happy with the food.....no... hence the 4 stars! Go to it for the great location, go for a nice walk after lunch or dinner, perhaps a great place for a date, as it’s not really for families.
Great service and excellent food!!
This restaurant is located in one of the best parts of town and has the best staff and menu. Although this was probably annoying, the bartender allowed me to create my own drink, which was fun and made my lunch hour much more exciting. The servers are also so considerate. I ordered the Pho soup and it was pretty spicy, Jessica offered to take it back for me since they make it from scratch each time, they must have put too much pepper in it. I declined but the thought and intention was nice. I also was eavesdropping on a conversation at the table beside us, which was a family visiting from the US. The woman was so impressed with Jessica's service as she remarked that she was pleased that she came to check on them to see if they were enjoying their food. I guess this is a courtesy we take for granted here because apparently it is not all that common for our American neighbors. Anyway, it was nice to see that she was appreciated and other people recognized the specialness of this place.
A good spot for a catch up with friends. Menu is average. The indoor or proper patio seating is great, not a fan of the tent they have set up. Good service.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner and had heard nothing but good things. We shared the cauliflower fritters, she had a brisket sandwich and I had lobster mac & cheese. The cauliflower was nice with the aioli, but the cauliflower itself was undercooked and was EXTREMELY filling for what I would have thought to be a light app. The sauce on the brisket sandwich was extremely vinegary which was quite offputting, and my wife exchanged it for a stir fry (which was also VERY salty). My lobster mac & cheese was very nice, but had about 3 little chunks of lobster... and for $17 I was expecting a LOT more. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars and not lower, is because the staff was VERY friendly and the decor was comfy and unique. Side note: I mentioned to them it was our 10th wedding anniversary, and no one made a single mention of it during our meal. I wasn't really expecting anything, but I've been to other restaurants who make you feel special, especially on such a big occasion. I might go back again. I'm undecided.
The atmosphere at plank is quite nice. Great location on the water with a view of the water. The service was good. I'd say to have a drink this is a great spot. As far as food goes, the food is quite underwhelming. My fiance and I tried a few of the starters which were alright and a croquet madame. Everything seemed like is was premaid a while ago and the croquet madame was made on whuhite delicious bread and had no flavor what so ever. As someone who cooks frequently and rather well its really upsetting to pay money for meals like this.
Great patio and delicious food. Will definitely be back!
Amazing food really enjoyed the sausage pizza. Service was also very good. For dessert had the Holy Canoli and it was really good it is waffle pieces and the inside of a canoli for you to dip into. It was not to heavy and not too sweet. Sausage Pizza was very tasty dough was nice and light and cooked perfectly sauce was nice and fresh tasting as well and basil on top of it added a nice touch to the overall taste. If you are looking for a place to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a nice cold beer at the same time check this place out it will be worth your time. Just as a heads up the menu is small but the portions are perfect. So do not be fooled by the small menu size.
Just had the most delicious beet salad and eggplant crisps ever! Server was professional and prompt considering the place was hopping for a Thursday night. Gorgeous view too. Will definitely return and recommend!
My boyfriend and I came here the other night with my brother and his fiance as they said it was there favorite spot in Burlington. The ambiance was very rustic and cute with great music and the staff was very friendly. I got the corn soup special to start which was delicious with the right amount of heat to it. My brothers fiance recommehnded the sliders to my bf as an app and neither of us thought they were anything special. For our mains I got the mac and cheese which contained beef cheek and my boyfriend got the szechuan shrimp stir fry. My Mac and cheese didn't have much taste and the beef cheek tasted over cooked and did not melt in your mouth as it should have. My boyfriend's szechuan stir fry though was amazing! Perfect balance of spice with the acidity of the kimchi. I kept stealing bites to break up the heavy nothingness that was my mac and cheese. This place is ok but could be better
First time visiting Plank. We had poor service. Waitress seemed very annoyed while we ordered did not care to recommend anything to us. Just seemed very un welcoming. we ordered the pickerel which we found to be very salty also had the pizza that was under cooked.
Just the best. A main community location, food is fantastic, drinks are great but the vibe...the vibe is on point...ppl drive from miles away to feel like they are at home...Plank.❤️
Great sharing menu! Everything we ordered was excellent. The blood orange margherita was awesome! The service was top notch. We'll be going back!
Food is okay not great- food portions very small - every time ive been to this place they seat us really close to the washroom and it smells. The washrooms are not clean.
Had a great meal with my hubby. Food was excellent and on point. We really enjoyed our evening and very excited for the summer patio when we stay on our boat @bronte
Amazing food, great staff and service with a smile forsure.
Busy restobar on the water with great food, great drinks, all around nice atmosphere.
My family and I went to Plank in Oakville for Mother’s Day a few weeks ago. Had never been there before so was excited to try a new restaurant. Maybe a brunch buffet is not their thing, because the food was a big disappointment. The salads had no flavour, the bread was hard from sitting out for so long. Everything that was supposed to be hot was cold. Sausages were not even lukewarm, scrambled eggs cold. The bacon was raw...ie translucent. It wasn’t only that it was cooked to my liking, it was raw. Other people at the buffet were also saying the same thing. I put some bacon on a separate plate and asked if they cook cook it and 10 minutes later they brought it back and it did not look like they had even done anything with it. I asked if they could please cook it more, and it was only then they actually cooked it, and it was delicious. I did notice after that the bacon on the buffet was not translucent. When the manager brought the bacon back she made a reference to me looking upset when I walked in. Not only was that highly inappropriate for her to blame the raw bacon on my supposedly being upset about something it was not accurate at all. On the contrary, we were all looking forward to a great meal with our family which did not end up being the case. Very disappointing experience.
We ordered tapas and pizza; everything was delicious. Exceptional, even. However, it took a LONG time for our food arrive - 30 minutes for our first small dish, 40 minutes for the second. The table behind us waited an hour, and sent their entrees back for being cold. So while I would classify our experience as 'worth the wait', it's clear your mileage may vary.
We loved this place. It was busy on a Monday afternoon with good reason. Everything we ordered was great; dim sum, street nachos, sliders, salads and pizza. Yum! The service was friendly too. We landed there during a road trip back home to Toronto but it's worth the drive to Oakville.
The food was great and we really enjoyed the patio setting. Our waitresses were very friendly and did an awesome job!!!
Very happy with my experience here! Karina and Jillian the hostess and server for our table were very friendly! Amazing service all around. Food was also amazing, the ahi tuna poke and fish tacos were delicious. Location and interior are also fantastic. Would highly recommend, def need to make a trip there again!
Tried it out for the first time today, and sat inside out of the sun. Food was good, but the waitress wasn't very pleasant and left us feeling uncomfortable.
Great food but unfortunately the servers were not as attentive. Tried to get their attention a few times but was not successful. Our server took away my spoon that I was still using and tried to get it back but no one was paying attention in our corner table. I will come back because the menu looks good, and hopefully I get a better service next time.
My experience at at Plank was beyond expectations. I was excited for a good glass of bourbon and a pizza. What I revived was an outstanding restaurant experience. I asked the waitress “if you were to only eat here once in your life, what would you have?” The recommendations were amazing and my beverage was always topped up! I may not get a chance to come back but I will sure try!
Typically the food here is amazing for dine in only. My experience the last 6 months with takeout has not been so great. The tuna tasted off on 2 separate occasions when I got it months ago and last Saturday I got the beef sliders but they were over cooked. The shrimp tempura was and crab cakes were average, nothing special.
Went here last night for an anniversary date! I was so impressed with the level of safety that the restaurant had. You were asked to take your temperature and the tables were separated by a shield which made my boyfriend and I happy as we felt safe. The service was AMAZING. The hostesses were friendly and our server was so nice! He was the taller gentlemen with blonde/brown hair. He was fast and was constantly checking on us. As for the food... we were SO IMPRESSED! The food was delicious, and flavourful! I will definitely be coming here again! If your looking for a cute place for any event I would definitely recommend here :)
Food was delicious. Was told it was going to be a 35min wait, ended up being 1.15hr wait. Finally got table, food didnt come out until another hour after sitting. Manager came to ask hows our food, told her to come back in an hour when we actually get it and well let you know. Food was great. Turn around time awful. Tables hardly moved
Amazing food in the heart of Bronte Village in Oakville. It maintains an amazing atmosphere. The smell of food is overwhelmingly amazing every time you walk in. My personal favorite dish on their menu is the Calamari. Inside and outside seating. The patio has a view of beautiful Bronte road and you can see out past the marina to the lake.
Context Last minute decision to take the parents out for dinner and a stroll. Decided to visit Bronte Harbor in Oaville on a Friday evening. Venue: Located very close to the water but no actual view of the harbour as with the window seats of other restys (i.e. Yolanda) further south on Bronte. Their patio is small, quaint and a lot less noisy than inside (parents couldn't hear themselves speak). The interior is very, woody - like the Black Pearl and looked to be in good shape. Food: Server explained their offering well (e.g. which dishes were good for sharing in multiples of 2) - (Rec: reviewing the menu ahead of time since they've updated it). Found most of our selections to be above average in taste & presentation - most impressive being the trout/toast and the sliders with least being the wings. The steak-frites entree was good but not something we'd crave to order again. All dishes were definetly gourmet tapas. Service: The hosting was annoying with reservations. Called hours before the 5:30 res cutoff and was continously put on hold as they seemed to be confused with their own process. Eventually, we were told to just show up. We had passed by at 7:30 pm and told it was a 40 min wait to seat (4). It took about 20 (Rec: giving them your mobile # to get the table notificaton text instead of carrying their pager). Our server knew their product/offering well and although very busy she was quite as courteous and engaging. Overall: Will definitely return to try other menu items and have the few we found 'crave worthy'. It is on the pricey side but it aligns with their product and venue. Found the experience to be on par with d/t T.O. tapas bars - so no need to head back d/t if residing in Halton. Its definitely worth a visit for the experience for gourmet tapas in a small town with character beside the harbour.
They have a nice patio with a lake view. The food is ridiculously good and also super cheap for its quality. I always get the Steak Frites. The service is pretty good too.
Disappointing. The best dish in this american style tapas restaurant was the pumpkin hummus dip with pita bread. Everything else was sub-par. The gnocchi pasta was overloaded with dairy, the Jerk wings tasted like cajun spice, and the spicy shrimp with fingerling potatoes was bland and oily and had no seasoning or flavour. The waitstaff missed bringing all our food to the table, we had to ask if they were even making it. And we cancelled the pizza we were about to order because the rest of the food was not that great. Great place to grab a drink because the lake is across the street but thats about it. And there was barely any seafood, you would think a place called Plank and is located near a lake would have a better selection of seafood but it really barely had anything. It was more italian than anything else.
It was beautiful, relaxed and the staff is warm and welcoming, very friendly and the food was delicious
The food is soooo good. Nice atmosphere. Plank is always busy. They don't do reservations so arranging large groups can be difficult but worth it. Creative and delicious options on the menue. There are no bad choices.
Awesome service and excellent food. Between my brother and I, we ordered 4 plates because it was so tasty.
Very disappointed with recent lunch at Plank. This restaurant used to be a good go to but not anymore. When making reservations, they did not give option to select “indoor seating” and instead of being told nothing available it defaults to “patio”. although my note mentioned I wanted indoor seating, we were seated on the patio on 11C day. The heaters were not working. We placed our order as sun was still out but an hour later no food and we had only ordered 2 tuna bowls (mediocre at best) and a slider appetizer. The bowls came out and it was another 15 mins for the slider app. What was once a good go spot to is no longer on our restaurant list. There are a lot of other better restaurants with better service in the area.
I have been a fan of Plank for years. Today's visit at lunchtime reminded me why this restaurant is superb! My husband and I shared three dishes and each one was amazing!
On Sunday October 2nd 2016, my family and I came in for a nice dinner at Planks. Devon took care of us and we had a fabulous dining experience with him and the rest of the lovely staff! We were immediately seated for our reservation and brought drinks and appetizers. All of the food was FANTASTIC and they even took care of an appetizer for us because they said they enjoyed our company that evening. Could not ask for better service or dining experience. We are already repeat customers, but will continue to come here and recommend it to family and friends. THANK YOU!
I have gone to Plank, number of times, and it’s one of my favourite places. It’s a great place to meet friends, amazing atmosphere, staff greets you and is attentive! The food, I’ve had few dishes, was always super. Definitely worth checking out
Thé worth place for customer service you can ever go too we got kicked out, worth people to deal with I don’t think that place need to be around us. I think they need either to change their management with their employee or to give them training how to deal polite with people
Took in-laws to this place. Great sharing menu. Sliders are a must. Also really enjoyed the authentic hand tossed stone oven pizza. Great selection of some off beat apps. Ie the cauliflower was not the usual fare. Worth a visit. Btw...service was spot on.
Delishes service was great food awsome if you get the chance to go do it make a reservation
Horrible table in corner by door. It was so Hot inside. Even the servers were saying how Hot it was. Service was good. Food was ok. The Mac and Cheese completely flat. I guess I expected more. Maybe the ac wasn’t working. Regardless- I am not sure about the hype.
Made reservations for dinner after a friend recommended this place. I’m glad that we made it out here to dinner. Great views of the lake, with a beautiful patio. Started of with their great cocktails ???? (apple pie mule & orange is the new mojito) and for apps we got blow my torch and the house slider. For the main we got steak fritters. Amazing spot to check out. Will be coming back!!!
The staff was extremely rude, called to ask a question and she answered the phone listened to what I said and responded with uh huh k bye. She never even answered my question about the patio, rude.
Delicious selection of dishes from all over the world. Very creative menu items with something for everyone. We enjoyed the rice balls in the Punjabi curry and the pineapple in the noodles. The grilled cheese had a little too much goat cheese and the Mac and cheese was a little bland. But all the appetizers were amazing! But overall, it was a great atmosphere, with wonderful service.
I have been to Plank a few times but slowly have noticed a decline. First tried it in early 2016 and loved it. Everything was fantastic - the drinks, the shareable food plates, the atmosphere, the staff. It was a cozy winter spot to have a nice dinner. Yesterday was the first time I had tried it in the summer time. The staff was super attentive and friendly so I have no complaints about the hospitality. However - the food was o-k and the drinks were somewhat underwhelming. - Albacore Tuna Poke (probably the best dish we had) - Duck Wings (always a good choice, but felt a bit lacking) - Sausage and Pepper Pizza (under cooked, soggy, bland. I would advise asking for your pizza well done) I enjoyed the beverage that I had (though it could have had a touch more alcohol). My partner didn't really enjoy his two beverages. The Manhattan was too sweet and felt cheap, and the martini was just not as well crafted as the ones he had previous (and at other restaurants for the same price). I think we will probably try different restaurants in the area for the next little while. I would say try it out and see for yourself... Again, we've had great meals in the past but every time we go, it's been not as great as the previous time.
Tater tots and calimari were excellent starters. Ordered the Ditaliano pizza and that was good, nothing special. Food took 45 mins to arrive on a Tuesday night, which was a disappointment
Its a shame to give such a low rating when we didn't even get to try the food. I was looking forward to dinner here on Canada Day. We made reservations for 4 people at 6 pm. When we arrived there was a table for 4 in the corner available. We had a baby with us so I requested a high chair which fit perfectly in the corner by the table. It was away from the rest of the customers. The server was about to seat us when the girl who was the manager told us that the baby counted as 5 people and that she could not seat us in a 4 person table. Eventhough the baby wasn't going to actually sit in a chair and most probably would have sat on our lap most of the time. She said it was against covid bylaw for patio seating and does not meet social distancing rules. How? We are one family and 4 of us could have sat on a 4 person table with baby beside us or on one of our laps. We would still be correctly distanced from other tables. They only had 2 tables that can sit 5 people and they were booked for the whole evening. She asked us to leave. It was horrible. Now we have to look for another place to eat last minute on Canada Day while carrying a baby in the hot sun. We did finally find a place after some walking and they had no issues adding a high chair beside a 4 person table for our baby. The whole experience put a damper on our day. I would suggest you train your managers on how to handle unexpected situations like this where families with kids are involved with sensitivity and understanding.
worst food I had in my entire life! I went there based on the reviews for my mum's birthday but everything was just so horrible and we could not eat any of our food! everything was awfully designed and disgusting! It was such a waste of money! Definitely not recommending it to anyone and it was my first and last time there!
Arrived for our lunch reservation late and they accepted us kindly. Enjoyed tempura shrimp and kale dip. Delicious. The other dishes were sushi bowl, warrior bowl, duck pizza and duck wrap. It is the best pizza I have ever enjoyed. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much. First visit fir us to this area and restaurant. Highly recommended.
This should have been a 5 star review based on our server and food. She did a great job. That being said; my friends appetizer was lost in ordering and we had to wait much longer to receive it. I had the duck poutine and it was really good. We spent about $100 including tip for a 1 hour visit. At the end of our stay the hostess came up to us and asked us to finish up as they have another reservation waiting. Really? An hour to get 6 drinks and 2 appetizers, which was delivered late, and you have the attitude to ask us to leave. Good thing we didn't order dinner. If you notice in the picture there is a free table behind us and another next to us. If the patio was packed and there were no tables I could understand, within reason, you would request us to hurry up. This was not the case. While the service and food was excellent I will have to think about returning here. I am not happy with the attitude. After being closed for 3+ months I think you need to respect your customer better. $100/hour is not a bad deal. Not like we were squatting there. We were paying customers. Please change and we will revisit.
Reserve before you go, gets busy @ weekends...nice place, good food, good service.
Really like the menu and staff. But noise level is not at all comfortable or healthy. Adding some acoustic softening materials would help, as would toning down music volume.
This is our go to restaurant when we want to try different options. I would highly recommend eating here. Sliders are great. Friendly and family atmosphere.
Great service, great food! Lots of small plates so very shareable. Fresh ingredients put together in unique ways. Noisy, busy, warm atmosphere so it was fun!
Service was really subpar. We spent almost $400 between 4 adults and one child (7 years old). Never once asked if we wanted a refill on drinks or additional cocktails. Empty glasses left on the table the whole meal. We ordered one of each of the small plates on the menu in addition to a pizza and a bigger plate item. The server seemed almost annoyed that we ordered so much. There is also clearly a fruit fly infestation which cheapened the dining experience / atmosphere (home made fruit fly traps in plain view of our table was the icing on the cake. I get that its fruit fly season but this was excessive and made me wonder how many flies were lurking on food in the kitchen. It may be time to call in a professional). Overall the food was good but i wouldnt recommend this place. Lots of other options to choose from if you want to spend big money and get sub par service.
The food was delicious, a wonderful variety of snacks available. It does get quite crowded as it's very popular, making it a bit noisy. But it's great for a bustling, social atmosphere. I'll definitely return, thanks for the speedy service.
Love this place. I've been to Plank many times and I just keep loving it. There's a great environment, people are really trendy, and the menu is fantastic. It's also really easy to park. Gets pretty packed on the weekend, so make sure to book in advance if your a bigger group.
Great service and reasonable price. Great selection of cocktails and they taste good. We went around 7:40pm and they have all pizza sold out (might be just because of Civic Holiday). Will revisit to try their pizza.
Really not sure what all the fuss is about. Went there on Saturday with family. Atmosphere was just okay. I had the Margherita pizza. It was nothing special. I've had better for much less money. Seemed pricy to me for what you get.
So. Damn. Good. Excellent service. Inventive menu. Delicious food. The shareable bites options were off the hook. Such creative choices and presented beautifully and quickly. We'll be back.
Awesome restaurant with friendly service and amazing creative food! You don’t get better food in Toronto!
Have been here more than once and will be back again especially for their buck a shuck. Patio is nice. Oysters were fresh. Sliders are yummy and service is always friendly. Prosecco served in a fancy glass (which i will admit, I loved that)!
Service and food are incredible! One of the best by Catch Hospitality and our most frequented restaurant for the past two years, whether dining in or picking up.
Great atmosphere! Their chicken and waffles were amazing! The food presentation was lovely! Their desserts are small portions and a bit pricey
Dined on May 6th and 6 guys sat next to us. They were very voicetress, banging their glasses on the table and yelled for the waitress. Some patrons left but one couple addressed their behavior with them. The guys told them to f£!@ off and get the f£!# out. The staff decided to reward their behavior with a round a shots for them and the waitresses (the guys were already drunk) to apologize for the complaint. When I brought it up to the manager she said she thought we were with them (funny we did not get a round with them) and said sorry. It was my friend's 60th birthday and she invited her closest friends to her favorite restaurant. Needless to say she was upset and embarrassed. Miserable evening had by all.
The part I disliked the most was the 45 minute wait to get seated. I called to make reservations for 8pm. But was informed that they don't take reservations for after 5pm. Arriving at 8pm, we were standing by the door way for 1/2hr hour, finally found place to sit at the bar. After 15 minutes there, we were seated (party of two). After that, everything went great. The service was fantastic. The food we ordered was tasty, except for the duck poutine. It seemed to be lacking duck. Besides that, I had no other issue with the food. But I do recommend going with at least 3 ppl to properly sample each dish. Price wise, it did seem to be a tad on the high side considering the serving sizes.
Went to here for the first time, the waitress was provided unsatisfactory service. She said that if you're under 21 you couldn't order alcohol, even though in ontario its 19. Other tables nearby us where visibly under 21 but had alcohol. We noticed her patterns and she was nice to other tables, sat beside them to talk to them often checked up on them but totally ignored our table. We ordered food and it came too salty and less portion than photos online. Confused by the lack of service and horrible mistreatment, how come a couple of 19 year old white women can drink and get good service but an interracial couple can not?
Everything we ordered was excellent! Plus it's on the beautiful lakeshore! I would definitely come again. I loved the cauliflower fritters, the pei muscles, and the Ahi tuna salad bowl ( forgot the name) the dressing was amazing! Go here!!
Delicious food. Had the "No Mushroom For Improvement" pizza which I would highly recommend! Service was good as well. @bikingtogetfood
It was my first time here last week, overall the food was tasty. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the very limited amount of GF options. Though I had a variety of food to pick from the person I was with did not.
Great food, cool looking place with large patio.
Love it. Great food and atmosphere. A perfect restaurant for meet-ups and catch-ups with friends.
Amazing food. Hands down the best tapas I've ever had. Or should I say best as I've ever taped
We went to Plank on Jan 3 2020, 5:15 pm reservation, to celebrate the start of the New Year. The food, cocktails, and service were all spectacular. The only large thing that ruined our night was one of us parked in the opposite parking area which apparently had towing signs and heavy charges. We were new to the area and did not think to pay attention to those signs. We’ve also been to other areas along the waterfront that does not have this ridiculous stipulation; especially since we did not park there overnight. Anyway my friend got charged $350 to get his car back. When I expressed these concerns to one of managers at Plank, Tracy, she was lovely and provided such kind customer service when we come back to the restaurant in the future. Thank you.
Unique Delicious Eat here! Been to resteraunts all around the world! This is truly a desirable experience! Well portioned tapas and delicious dishes coupled with exceptional service = an amazing place to plan a function or bring a small gathering of old friend! Highly recommended EASILY 5/5
Always great food and the menu does change so you can try something new. Reservations are highly recommended as this is a busy place and there is no waiting space. The bar offers eating space but still busy.
A variety of unique and delicious menu items. There wasn't a thing I tried that I didn't like. Beautiful location right by the lake and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Enjoyed a nice meal at Plank Restobar for the first time on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed the atmosphere and thought the service was very good. Made reservations online , seems like a good idea with the amount of traffic coming in. Seating was limited to 90 minutes which was more than enough time to enjoy the meal. Food came out promptly, as ordered and tasted great. Would definitely recommend for a nice afternoon or evening out.
I had a Diana's Warrior bowl for lunch and it was excellent. The servers here are very good.
We were there tonight for dinner. We had 4 bits and bites off the menu. Cauliflower was good! The sliders were rather soggy but flavorfull. Duck piutine was cold and the fries were old--disappointing! It came out immediately upon order so we knew it was not made fresh:( Big macca risotto balls were fantastic!! Overall food was a 3, service was excellent!! Hence the 4 star.
Wonderful atmosphere on the patio. Our server, Jade, was wonderful. Loved the Margharita pizza and blueberry cheesecake. Beautiful by the water.
My lunch was great but parking is a nightmare! Since cars are being towed from the adjacent lot, shouldn't the waiter have given us all a quick heads up warning? Plank's lot is small and there were no spaces available at 2 pm on Friday. Lunch for one cost me over $400 due to being towed! I even read the signs but since they said to stay 'on premises' I assumed that since I was supporting Plank, the adjacent lot was OK to park in. I found out the hard way that it wasn't. As a result, it's very unlikely that anyone in our group or friends I will warn about this will return to Plank or the area businesses.
Plank is amazing and everytime we visit it never disappoints, there is always creative fresh tasty dishes and great drink selection. Can't wait to come back.
Vintage atmosphere with a good selection of beverages and food. The duck poutine is strongly recommended, but be aware that the portion is a bit larger than expected. You could almost consider it an entre on its own.
I have always enjoyed Plank, but lately the food seems on another level! Did you get a new cook/fryer? Amazingly delicious!
Great food. Nice atmosphere. I wish their menu had a few more options. Our server took a really long time to come to our table and the water we were served wasn't even cold. Otherwise service was fine.
Patio finally re-opened after covid-19 2nd wave shut down. Great expanded patio space and some really nice additions to the menu. Shrimp & pork fried rice and the Zeus are two new items to try. Simply delicious. Can’t wait until the inside re-opens… Great place... great staff and mellow atmosphere... menu often gets updated, healthy options (warrior bowl as in picture), good beer and wine selection, pizzas and original menu options (dumb sons, cowboy Mac and cheese, little rocket man, etc... our regular go-to place.
The atmosphere was great. Very warm and cozy, although it was a little loud and the tables are set kind of close. But it wasn't that bad. Food was delicious and affordable, I had the Seasoned Mussels and they were a dang treat. One thing I will say for sure is that you need to make a reservation or you ain't getting a seat for awhile. Even on a Wednesday night at 7 they were booked solid. But overall great experience.
Amazing food great service good drinks!
Had the Sliders the other day prepared by a great and talented chef! friendly staff, Great food, A must if your in the area for sure.
Food was excellent! Very nice variety on menu. Service was a little slow at first but picked up before we left. Ate outside in tent which was disappointing, but without tent we might not have got in at all. Angela was an excellent waitress!
Fantastic food. We had tuna poke, samosa nachos, feta dip, and a pizza. Everything was so good! Service was great too!!!
We have been here several times and had great food and service. Went this last weekend and ran into someone who said he was the General Manager. Very full of himself, very rude and not willing to admit to his mistakes and told us we were trying to mislead him. Never-mind the close talking and touching (rude and very inappropriate), was close to having a more serious meeting! Very disappointed in this experience. Really a good place, except for him. His words "really, look at all the people, it does not matter what you think". Yup, I have been there three or four times, great all the way around....until him. I wonder what the rest of the people would think if they had a chance to meet the GM? Might be easier to get a seat!
Thanks goodness for Plank - after moving to the suburbs from Toronto, I was on the look out for a great place with a consistently good menu, good service and ambiance and Plank is definitely that. The ambience is relaxing, cozy and rustic. The food is incredible - must try the cauliflower fritters, sliders, calamari - everything is incredible. Drink menu is great - they make a great mule! The location is by the water so if the weather is nice, taking a walk along the water before or after is great. Also - their brunch is in my opinion the best in Milton.
Small bite choices great.Large portions for an appetizer. Servers friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the 70s soundtrack playing.
I adore this restaurant! They serve first-rate meals, their menu is decent, The chef in that restaurant is a real pro, I enjoy very much tasting all their food. The dishes are consistently fresh and tasty, the attitude towards the clients is friendly. I frequently visit this restaurant and I was never disappointed. Highly recommended.
Delicious food, great service. I wish there were more vegetarian mains, but the Punjabi Buttermilk stew I had was delicious and my partner really enjoyed his (non vegetarian) lasagne mac and cheese, saying it was the right amount of creamy and crunchy. We also enjoyed the cauliflower fritters (lightly coated and crispy without being overly oily) and the cheesecake of the day, which was perfection (airy and not dense, and not too sweet, with a Granola base)! We ordered drinks, and when the second round drink wasn't made correctly, they took it back and remade it without hassle. The atmosphere was great, rustic and live. Would certainly go back!
Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff & great food!
The food is tasty and reasonably priced. The staff are knowledgeable about what the restaurant offers, are friendly, and provide excellent service. The music selection was wonderful too. This is a great spot for small groups and couples alike!
The restaurant decor is rustic and you honestly feel like you're on a ship. The service and the food are amaaaaazing. We got the sliders, margherita pizza and mac cheese. None of these options disappointed, they were all delicious, especially those sliders. I would come back for more sliders and not share with the husband, they are that good.
You don't clean up a table by just cleaning it with your hand....I had to eat on a dirty table. Food lack love...the choice of the ingredients and the lack of spices make it an ordinary meal. Good spot but adjustments are needed.
There is no option for Veggie in Big Bites. One is forced to eat Pizza and that too only Margarita. Limited Menu....
If you want a place to eat in style while watching the lake, their patio is great. Almost everything tastes awesome except the deserts. This joint canbget pretty busy even at lunch time so be prepared if you wanto sit inside. However, there is more space available outside if requested. For people who prefer their servers wear face masks rather than face shields than you may want to think again as multiple servers wear face shields instead of masks.
Italiana pizza was delicious. Good quality cheese and prosciutto. Pretty. Nice atmosphere and fantastic waitress. Really enjoyed our dinner.
The food here is always great, the atmosphere enjoyable, and the staff friendly and welcoming.
This place is always good. Had an issue with my drink but the hostess made it right!
We have been steady customers for 2 years. However our last two visits have not been good. I am not sure where all the staff have gone. The current staff need to understand you need to be engaging with a customer, smile, and above all service. This visit was today. I know that it is the holiday season, but come on, 2 hour wait with no hope of every getting a table. Never a suggestion by the wait staff, or manager that perhaps you might want to consider eating at the bar. So after a great conversation with another person, which was very enjoyable we left. I am not sure if the place has been sold, but young inexperienced staff in the Plank with no understanding about service is a very big mistake. The Plank had a great thing going, why the change. Remember Cheers, where everyone knew your name? I will return but if the current staff is there I will not stay.
Food was delicious and service came with a smile. Would recommend it highly. Leave space for dessert, you will not be disappointed
Beautiful location with great views. Food was good, service was ok.
Very tasty and nicely placed near the marina!
Have been coming here for the past 2-3 years now and have never experienced any poor service or low quality food. Very friendly staff and management and food service is nice and quick. Will always be a loyal customer to the plank.
Always a pleasure eating at Plank. Dumb Son are my faves and are always on the menu...I guess I'm not the only one who likes this appetizer! Menu is always changing and the location is the best in Bronte. Service is excellent.
Our first visit here was during COVID, and everything felt very safe. They had an ipad at the front which took your temperature, and all the tables were either spread apart or had partitions in between. The service was friendly and quick. The food was good, we had the sliders and whipped feta dip. The sliders were good/average, the whipped feta dip came in a big portion and was very tasty - I would definitely order it again. Their fries were really good, and we also enjoyed the steak frites - it was perfectly cooked but I've had better chimichurri. All the drinks on their menu sounded delicious, I can't remember what we ordered but they were all good and they didn't skimp on the alcohol.
First, this is a super loud fun bar with interesting food, craft beers and decent wine by the glass. Not a great first date or romantic spot unless you sit outside in the summer. Staff is wonderful and the tapas style (smaller) portions are designed to share or too allow you to have a couple options. Seasonal updates keep the menu fresh. It's also a fun spot for a smaller 8-12 person group to book instead of a chain. And if you like Bourbon the options are amazing. Reservations recommended using Open Table.
The food was decent but it was a little bit over priced. $22.00 for a pizza that was pretty tiny.
Great place and Great People, the Service is very nice and friendly I love the oysters there and the different types of Tapas the condiments are fantastic always have new creations. I like this plays always I go back again. Regards to all the Staff. Rafael from Argentina.
