My brother and I took our mom here for Mother's Day. I honestly can't think of one bad thing that took away from the dining experience. I noticed a lot of other reviews saying that the food is too pricey, but I'm a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for.' The food is beyond exceptional; we finished every bite. The service was lovely and the overall atmosphere is very elegant and peaceful. I would definitely like to return sometime in the future. For anyone looking to try a dish with an amazing flavour combination, get the arugula salad with pear and Parmesan.

Oliver's surpassed all expectations. My sister and I went here for a celebratory lunch and the service was excellent - attentive and very friendly. I had a glass of the Stag's Leap Cab Sauv, a personal favourite, and we shared the burrata and artichoke appetizer. The chef sent out a complimentary amuse-bouche of parmesan-encrusted artichokes and a variety of delectable breads. I had the Dover Sole as a main and it was tender and perfectly cooked. My sister had the lobster gnocchi and declared it to be perfect. We were stuffed, but the chef treated us to a series of desserts - a lemon chiffon with meringue, house-made strawberry sorbet, and lemon cheesecake. A truly perfect dining experience, I will be bringing my husband here for a special dinner soon.

I read at the laughable comments regarding mask safety...these people should stay home and lock their doors when the sun sets so they can be safe from the shadows in the night and fake news. This was my first time dining in a restaurant like this in Canada so I wasn't sure what to expect. My fiance and I were celebrating our engagement that weekend and decided to dine out instead of our typical dine in. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone for any occasion as it is a beautiful place with lovely staff and incredible food!! If you are someone with lower income I would suggest saving a bit before dining here as it is expensive but other than that AMAZING!! If I could rate it 10 stars I would!

I decided to go to Oakville and try this steakhouses, I heard many good things about it. It's the same owner as the famous Toronto Michaels on Simcoe. Made reservations via open table and arrived to Oliver's at 2100. Shown too our table with many selections of steaks I Iike my ribeye, I asked my waiter He recommended the PEI as it's grass fed so I ordered that I was going to get grilled octopus to start he recommended the burrata. The bread and focaccia with butter was placed on the table and it was excellent they served us a complimentary artichoke filled with cheese very good. The burrata was with heirloom cherry tomatoes, pesto, herb infused oil, preserved eggplant, it was amazing. The rib eye was fantastic along with the mac and cheese with truffle. There is always a good desert at a steak house so I went with almond Chocolate crunch brown butter almond cake, hazelnut chocolate glaze, espresso whip, honey comb absolutely amazing. Over all it was fantastic, we understand maybe our server was having a off nite. Didn't bring my friends beer didn't bring my coke. But I understand that every person has a bad day. This is a nice date night restaurant. I drove 55 mins definitely worth it. Also this was the first steak House that no one asked how are steak was... I guess evey restaurant is different.....

Not really my scene but if you like the high-end steakhouse razamataz this place does it well. And counter intuitively the fish we had was treated very respectfully. Not overcooked, crisp on the underside, nice quality branzino. Top marks. Service good, if a bit showy. Wine list tends to the plus 100s, which given the markup, is not something I'm going to shell out for, but found a very accomplished rioja riserva for around 60. Excellent value, and suggests whoever is stocking the cellar knows their wine.

What a great fine dining experience. Three of us went for dinner. The staff were attentive but not too much. We all had tender, flavourful steaks done to perfection and the entrees were delicious. The Ceasar salads were so tasty. If you wish to experience what fine dining should be, go here!

We had an incredible dining experience at Oliver's the other day. It was our anniversary and they took such great care of us. We sat on the patio on a gorgeous day and it was so nice to eat and watch the passers by, but I must say that the interior was very beautiful as well, like a chic manhattan bistro. But now to the best part! They food there was absolutely incredible and just so delicious that I am at a loss for words. We had the feature alaskan king crab cakes that came out so fresh and hot to order, along with a perfect caesar salad. We were lucky enough to try a Carmella with shaved truffle, as an amuse bouche, and it was so rich and heavenly. And for our mains, we both had steaks that were prepared superbly, and they were so tender and juicy. I cannot praise this dining experience enough, and we will most definitely be coming back. I would recommend a dinner here to anyone if they have a special night coming up. Oh and I nearly forgot, we ended the evening with two espresso martinis and can say with complete confidence that it was one of the best I've ever had. Check this place out, it is a really special find in Oakville.

Terrible 1st of all my boyfriend started out with a Caesar and it came with a piece of hair 2nd we waited 45 minutes to 50 minutes for our meal when we got our meal it was incorrect I do not eat bloody steak I ordered well and recived a rare And the blood was soaking into my food so I couldn't eat that Either, I had 2 glasses of wine which only 1 was was compt. I would honestly say if I could give 0 stars I would. Im a foodie and I say save you're money and go to the keg its way better you get what you pay for. The food at olivers is not worth the price.

Absolutely fabulous steakhouse in downtown Oakville! You come in and there’s this display of the steaks and seafood. Nice bar at the front and seating at the front as well as quite a bit more at the back. Comfy seating and contemporary decor is pleasing to the eye. Wine menu, cocktail menu, and lots of variety on the menu to please all palates. The old fashioned was so good my dining partner ordered a second one. I wish our server had some recommendations for non alcoholic beverages other than virgin versions of what was on the menu. I would anticipate that level of attentiveness given the prices here. We ordered oysters, Caesar salad, and grilled octopus to start. Perfectly dressed Caesar with warm bacon, fresh oysters, and the best most tender octopus I’ve ever had! Surf and turf and the US strip loin were cooked exactly as ordered and the mushrooms were this nice roasted not greasy mound of yumminess. Desserts were also great (coconut cream pie and chocolate mousse cake). Service was friendly and attentive. Maybe next time we will try the $500 Japanese steak ????

From the moment we walked in to the end walking out. Should be classified beyond five stars, and awarded a prestigious diamond star award. This restaurant is the winner of the best steak in the GTA. I've been to the Keg, Ruth's Chris, to all of them, but celebrating my dads birthday here was the most phenomenal idea we chose. The chef even created a Baked Alaska for us for his special day. Don't waste your time or money .....overrated. The staff lacked basic empathy and were aloof the entire time. After turning what should have been a medium rare steak into a well done disaster, their response was to take half an hour to prepare another medium rare steak, by the time they delivers it, my entire family had finished their respective meals. This did not seem to bother them in the slightest. I would avoid a restaurant that does not cater to its patrons, such as this restaurant.

Super cool place, extremely clean and social distancing is in place. Food is best in town. I saw a review by some crazy person complaining that masks are not worn while people are eating at tables LOL - pure insanity and ridiculousness that someone so jaded will leave negative review due to being scared of customers who eat/drink with no mask on. I was very surprised that an upscale restaurant like Oliver's, would be offering a coupon on wagjag, they were offering a five course tasting menu for two, priced at $120.00. I guess it's better to fill seats in the middle of winter.I am actually a restaurant manager and have managed several fine dining restaurants in the UK and NYC and I am only too familiar with servers not liking coupons, as I guess they feel that that do not get tipped on the full amount and the cliche is, people that use coupons are cheap. But the servers are not the ones paying that steep lakeshore road rent are they? I think that a tasting menu is a nice introduction to attract new customers. I purchased the deal for my sisters 60th birthday as a treat. I wanted everything to be perfect. I called the restaurant a few times, prior to our reservation to ask them what they did for birthdays, and inquire about their wine list. The deal on Wagjag was for 2 or 4 people ( We were a party of 3) I arranged to pay for the third person on site. On the actual night of the reservation, we were running late and called to let them know, as I was driving from Lewiston NY, to meet my family that live in Oakville. the border was a little busy, and it's annoying when people stroll in late without a courtesy call.On arrival, the place looked stunning and we were given a beautiful window seat. The sommelier came over and took our wine order, and we fished out the two wagjag coupons and handled them to our server immediately, as even though, we had read the fine print and restrictions. being in the business myself I wanted to be safe. There was a table of four directly behind us. We were just getting settled and happily sipping on our wine and admiring the decor, when the server, acting manager and Sommelier ( ALL THREE OF THEM) Approached the table waving the vouchers at us saying they would not scan and we would have to call wagjag.( Why was it our job to call Wagjag?) Surely this is something between the restaurant and wagjag? My sister looked as if she was about to burst into tears and my nephew looked mortified as the table behind us were staring at us like we were criminals! I said to the server “ Wagjag is closed their hours are 9-6 Monday -Friday “We can prove that we paid, I can show you our email receipt” The sommelier then chimes in and says “ You have a couple of choices pay for the wine and leave, or order from the regular menu” We have had at least 15 wagjag coupons tonight and they have all scanned perfectly, and wagjag will not pay us if they do not scan. We were left speechless, and really shocked as all three of them left the table, I mean we had already paid wagjag, why should we order from the regular menu? Their attitude was ""Sort it with Wagjag" After a few minutes, the acting manager( The nicest of the three) Approached the table, and said “ We have decided to honor the coupon even though we probably won't get paid” It was a real damper on the evening. Even though it was discounted we still spent over three hundred dollars and the food was amazing!! My guess is, they had a restaurant full of coupons and people drinking tap water and did not get tipped well!! I am usually a big tipper and leave 20 percent even if the service is mediocre. The three dinners, wine and tax came to $270.00 I normally would have left at least $60. I gave them a $30 tip because of the embarrassment and upset they caused on a 60th birthday!! For such a classy establishment you would think they would have known better..

We got the 5course fixed menu deal bought through Travelzoo and absolutely enjoyed it. The bread was delicious. The mozzarella was especially soft. The ravioli had a little too much dough compared to the filling and sauce for our taste. The cream brule with raspberry's on top was the perfect way to finish the meal. Good portion size.

We held our weeding reception at Oliver's on the Canada Day long weekend. The owner was on site for the entire evening with his top staff from another restaurant. We worked with Sandra for a couple of months going through all the details before the big day and she was amazing to deal with. The restaurant was well above our expectations when we arrived and everyone made sure the evening went perfect. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing! Our guests could not stop talking about how good the food was and the service. We will definitely be back and look forward to hosting other events here.

This was our 2nd time back to Olivers. Both our experiences were excellent. We had some out of town friends last year who were celebrating a birthday. The food, ambiance and service was top notch. Our wait staff was extremely attentive. This time round we really enjoyed the 5 course tasting dinner, it was delicious and so was the wine too. It was really a worthy deal of Travelzoo. We look forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. Oh yes and the bread selection was great ! Thanks Olivers. But just on another note the wines are very overpriced, so take your time looking at the wine list rather than asking for recommendations.

Hello everyone, I recently found a hidden gem of a restaurant in Oakville. The food, atmosphere, and service speak for themselves. The appetizer had a delicate sour taste and the sauce offered a creamy texture which helped the taste of the appetizer come all together. There was a pillow-like texture that the appetizer offered. The bread appetizer had a crunchy exterior and a cloud-like interior with a hint of olive oil and slight saltiness followed by some sweetness to serenade the taste buds. The knife cuts through the steak like butter, to reveal a juicy interior that melts in your mouth with every bite and leaves a juicy feeling in your mouth assisted by a lemony vinaigrette yet there is a subtly sweet taste that takes you to your happy place. When I closed my eyes and slowly chewed my medium-rare steak to absorb each flavor, it felt like the first time I said I love you. The shrimp had a smokey taste that complimented a slight hint of spice and the texture of the crunchy exterior complemented by a soft pillow-like interior, the sauce completed the charred flavor with slight sweetness and creaminess that left me craving more after it was all gone. The dessert was delectable, the caramelized banana took me back to my childhood, the chocolate mousse had a creamy texture with a slightly bitter taste followed by a sweet aftertaste to tie it together. The marshmallows were roasted perfectly with a slight char on the outside yet gooey in the middle holding its square shape perfectly and the crumble added a crunch that I would have never imagined that I needed. The bartender, @vietmha , made the most amazing drinks, even a personalized one with lime for me that had a sour, tangy taste that went down the throat smoothly. I had a long stressful night filled with work which ended up not letting me sleep but When I ate the food, I felt like I had a full 8 hours of sleep. It was like waking up on a beach watching the sunrise in the Bahamas. The service was perfect. No complaints whatsoever. 10/10. Huge thank you to the manager Jeff, the chef, and all the incredible staff at Oliver’s. The hospitality was unbeatable. I will be returning soon. @olivers_steakhouse

I would not go back to this restaurant. It's a nice place with good ambiance however some issues with both serive and the quality of the food. We got our drinks after 45 mins ordering them and our food after an hour and half and it was just the 2 of us so not a large order. Maybe about 60% of the tables were full and they were definitely under staffed. Once we finally got our food and I'm trying to enjoy my half organic chicken, only to feel hair wrapped around the greens as I'm chewing. I know it sounds gross, it felt much worse. I told the waiter and he apologized and said someone from the kitchen will come over, the restaurant manager came over and said "I understand you had an issue with you food" and said there was hair wrapped around the greens, she said sorry and kept on looking at me. I wasn't sure why? Or why did she even come over if she had nothing to say! My husband and I had arranged babysitting to go our and enjoy an evening together and it was not a good experience at all. If you're thinking about going there to spend your precious time and money, search again.

Very good service , excellent wine selection and superb ambiance. I have been here twice before and had very good food but my recent dining experience was a little underwhelming. I asked for a medium rare steak and mine was served , seared a little too much and the result was less than desirable. Other courses were very nice.

They charged for the complementary dessert that I did not order. I called the next day and they said the manager would call me back. 6 hours later I received a call from the server and told me the manager won't be back until next week as he is at a different location. I told him that the manager can call me from downtown and does not have to wait until he returns to Oakville next week. For a high end restaurant, check their prices, that only opened under new management in October, does not understand the importance of customer service.

My husband and I went to Oliver’s for the first time last night. Being new to the area we have been on the search for a elegant steak restaurant and I think we have found it! Our server PJ was fantastic , all of our food options were tasty and done to perfection. We both enjoyed salad, lobster bisque, oysters, lobster, steak and garlic mashed potatoes. I had Cosmo Martini which was also good. We then enjoyed some dessert the cheesecake and crème brûlée was amazing. We will definitely be back.

Extremely overpriced for the quality and value of the food. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, not excellent. We ordered, beet salad, 12 oysters, $96 Dover Sole, $100 Kansas Ribeye steak and $25 Mac/cheese, not to forget a $165 bottle of Justins Cab/Sav that you can buy at the LCBO for $35 a mixed drink for $24 and $11 bottle of water. The Dover Sole is not worth $96...nor is any fish dish that I could make better at home. The steak was overcooked, I ordered it Med/Rare and it came well done. The waiter acknowledged and stated "it happens" and "Human error" but also said that "he would not make a new one" and offered to "comp our desserts (which would be a $40 value" vs the $100 I had paid for it. This restaurant is not here to cater to the working class and seems put off by anyone who may question quality or even price. In the end, I declined the dessert to which the waiter begrudgingly offered to comp the steak after I informed him that I did not enjoy my meal. I am by far not a cheap person, and have a household income far above the general public, but I do not consider myself financially wealthy by any means, so this review is coming from an extremely honest place. We still spent $560 /tip inc. for subpar food even with $100 taken off. Do not visit this establishment unless you have money to burn and do not care about value. There are much better restaurants in Oakville like Cucci or Rust in Burlington where the price to value is much more worth it.

Absolutely love this place! Food is amazing, service was great! We started out with oysters and grilled calamari for starter s then moved on to the surf and turf which I can’t stop thinking about, my steak was grilled perfectly and the lobster, scallop and shrimp with garlic butter was top notch! I think the only problem we had was the lighting outdoor was a bit too dark, but we did appreciate the service and they did bring out a candle for us. Overall experience was very good and we will definitely be going back!

We held a private event at Oliver’s last weekend. Carlo was fantastic helping me plan such an important event! Sascha and his staff were so attentive to the needs of our guests who ranged from 0-75! Our guests are still talking about the food (the seafood, the steaks and for the vegetarians: the salads and pasta!) are all PHENOMENAL! Just go! My only warning is that it will be hard to choose what to order! Thank you again Oliver’s! Will be back!

For a decadent, traditional white table cloth restaurant that has a dated menu (sole from Brittany?) definitely go here. It's perfect for special occasions, fancy dates and take your parents out for birthdays. I prefer their light fare menu as it's a bit more current and up todate. Wine list has a lot of options, but missing some of my favourite Ontario wines.

Reservations were made for 7:30 patio. Restaurant called the day of the reservations to confirm and confirmed with them. When I got there at 7:40 they had given the table away and then had to wait another 45 minutes to get a patio seating. The quality of the food made up for it to a certain extent, however, likely won't go there again as a result of the service quality.

well, we had to celebrate. I've always wanted to visit Oliver's. was a bit surprised that it changed ownership but after the night was over, I am pleased to say that maybe it was a change for the best! we had a very good bottle of wine recommended by Sommelier/Manager to go with our A5 Miyazaki beef - it was like a party in my mouth and everyone was invited. Fair prices for outstanding food and wine - life is too short to have bad food or cheap wine. It was a celebratory occasion and with A5 steak order they even brought out special set of cold folded Japanese steak knives ( have to wait 6 month for the order straight from Japan). We had an great experience and will return.

My husband & I decided to try out Oliver's on Friday night. Very nice looking restaurant Our waiter was really good Food was good, but not the level i'd expect from a "top end" restaurant. I'd say the actual steak was at par with a restaurant chain like Mortons or Ruth Chris, but not at the level of the higher end steak houses around the GTA. At this price point i'd expect the flavors and the presentation to be of a higher level. Overall it wasn't bad, but i probably wouldn't go back. So many much better experiences around to choose from at this price point.

Picked up takeout for Mothers day. Simply amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious. I love the variety they have on the menu. My husband is a big steak eater and I love pasta. At this restaurant you get the best of both worlds. The pasta, steak and seafood is all to die for. The only thing that would have made this meal better was to be able to dine in the restaurant. Best Steakhouse in Oakville! Small, very well served , u will get a lot of attention, professional white tableckoth experience like no other! Can compare only to European London and Paris Restaurants. It's not cheap...but it's worth it We had PEI Ribaye and Vegetarian Dish.. Food, Service and overall experience was 6 out 5 Parking on a busy Saturday Night is a challenge, but small Oakville will accommodate you. Will come back soon.

I love trying new places and have been wanting to try them out for a few month now, well I finally found the time. I found the atmosphere pleasant and everyone I had interactions with was knowledgeable and helpful with explaining and highlighting the menu, service times were fast and we were never left unattended. I had the lobster gnocchi and my counterpart had the rack of lamb, the gnocchi was cooked perfectly and lobster was abundant and the pieces were left intact and large enough to be able to identify what part of the lobster it was...the rack of lamb was absolutely gorgeous, the presentation only the plate was beautifully done and the lamb was cooked perfectly. I will be back for sure.

We had a terrible experience. We asked the waiter size of the stake, the size that we asked he said is the small portion. Once we ordered the size that he recommended we couldn’t finished it. After receiving the bill we noticed he ordered the most expensive one. So our bill with no desert only with two drinks was over 400 $ which was crazy and not worth it. We will not return this place and not recommend it to others.

Long time over due review, my girlfriend and I (both 25, this is important as it’s the only logical explanation for this) came in for dinner. Our bill came out to about $380 and $460 after tip. We don’t go out often so when we do we tend to splurge. Upon arrival it almost seemed like the man at the front counter was shocked to see us walking in (we where both dressed appropriately for this upscale restaurant, another important note as that’s not the reason of this either). Finally after we confirmed our reservation we where seated and immediately began to feel uncomfortable by the staff. Got looks like we don’t belong and always seemed to have someone watching us. The whole experience was uncomfortable, treat everyone that walks through your door the same, no one is above or beneath you. The only reason for two stars is the food truly was unbelievable, sadly can not see myself going back due to the unprofessional responses from the staff.

I went to dinner recently to this place. It is one of the best, if not the best steakhouse in the area, in my opinion. The service was impeccable. The food was fabulous. Try their Ribeyes, you will not regret it!! I saw a couple of people who complained about the food being late. In my case, I even was happier as the restaurant did not rush us to eat our food and to leave as many others do. We took our time and the chef provided us with a complimentary appetizer in order to prepare us for our main course while we are waiting. Other than that, if you are willing to pay for a service you haven't had yet in oakville, you should try Oliver's steakhouse.

Almost great. Except for what one of their staff admittedly called their ‘wine scam’. I paid $30 for a small glass of the ‘special by the glass bordeaux’ recommended to me by the server, only to discover later that the entire bottle was $27 at LCBO. I understand wine markups, but that’s ridiculous and made me feel cheated. My own fault I guess for trusting my server. Too bad because otherwise it was a good night. Such a short sited move to take advantage of people already paying a good price for a quality meal.

Deception Went there first time with a friend who was there a decade ago. Lovely place and nice atmosphere. Should have known by small print menu and low lighting that they were trying to put something over on you. I was asked about cocktails to begin with. I asked what they had in single malts and they came up with a Macallan I had never heard of and thought I should try it. They never mentioned price which was $80 for a shot (340% markup on bottle). I ordered a Kansas tenderloin for $50. There was nothing else, only a three ounce piece of meat (it was great). Salad was $16 & roasted squash was $9 so dinner cost me $77 which is a bit steep. It does say place is expensive so what can I say ? Asked for a Tempranillo glass of wine and they mentioned there was an Amarone that went perfect with my steak. I said fine, not knowing it was $38. My whole bill was $235 when I expected something around $100-120. No complaints about the food, just how they sneak you into the higher priced drinks. Won't go there again.

Fine dining is what defines Oliver's. It seems like they have been a mainstay in Oakville forever! Presentation, service and taste that is worth savoring till the very last bite. Expensive but worth every penny. Fantastic atmosphere and the perfect place and setting for a romantic dinner.

From beginning to end, our experience at Oliver’s was outstanding. The price fixed menu allowed us to try many dishes. The artichoke heart was a mouthful of flavour, the smoked trout exploded with delicious combinations of flavours (my personal favourite) and the agnolotti pasta with truffles was beautiful to the nose and lovely in the mouth! The octopus was also cooked to PERFECTION! Our striploins cooked rare were beautiful, tender and so tasty. And to end our dish we had the divine creme brûlée (grand Marnier in top) and the coconut cheesecake - both incredible. Not only was the meal so wonderful but the service is what really made our night. Carlo and the staff were welcoming and really took care of us. With attention to detail, all the staff worked well together to make the service impeccable. We really look forward to visiting again for our special occasions. 6 stars plus would be the rating if I could!
