I was surprised to see that no employees at the Oakville location were wearing face masks. It’s the basics of safety and good customer service these days! Specially when handling food! I like the food but not risking eating from there again.

AMAZING. My husband and I just went because we love BBQ. We are picky eaters but we love trying new places. Got the ribs and chicken. Omg amazing. I usually don’t like chicken but I loved it. And the roasted potato balls!!! It was worth the money and we are definitely are coming back. I’m super shy and the guys there were very sweet. Plus the owner gave us these pastries for free as we left and they were amazing. Highly recommend!

Went here twice now around 6pm and asked for a chicken sandwich. Both times i was told they dont have. Mind you they close at 8pm. Dont put it on the menu if you dont have it or are too lazy to prepare it.

Amazing food. That sauce was great. Big portions, reasonable price. Seating is slim but that means you get to enjoy this in the comfort of your own home. I used to go to John's BBQ but I find their chicken dry, this chicken was nice and moist and flavourful

Don't go to Mario's Chicken. Complaints will not be heard or acknowledged. They will just argue with you and never admit any faults. Go somewhere else for your chicken (such as Nando's or The Portuguese Chicken Guys - you will get wayyy better service). Good food won't make up for horrible service. What ever happened to the customer is always right? Doesn't exist with them. I talked to the owner and he is a horrible human who has no respect for his customers. He basically told me never to come back if I'm not happy. I will gladly never EVER go back and I suggest the same for anyone who reads this.

Not sure what happened. I walked in, ordered a bifana and a tart,he packaged it handed me the bag, I paid 7.xx. which I thought was cheap while leaving. Drive all the way back to work open the bag, open the styrofoam and low and behold a piece of meat. That's all. Not sure if it's a gluten free version or something but considering a bifana is literally a Portuguese sandwich and is listed under sandwiches on their own board I would assume it comes with a bun. Recommend double checking your orders while there so you don't get surprised like I do.

Great place for pickup, not much got sitting in. Decor inside could use a bit of work. But if all you want is some delicious chicken and a good selection of sides. Check this place out. Needed an affordable place like this close to home. Very tasty and great value.

Since I moved to Oakville from Brampton I've been looking for a good Portuguese Chicken place. As someone with Portuguese heritage myself, it's always hard to find a good place that serves the type of food I'm used to. My cousin told me about how the Mario's in Mississauga opened a new location in Oakville, so my wife and I had to check it out. Located on Dundas, (and conveniently located across the street from the grocery store we frequent the most), this place is an instant must have again for me. The service was outstanding. I didn't know what to get, but the young gentleman behind the counter recommended the full grilled chicken with 2 sides meal (I got Potatoes and Rice). The employee was helpful and was quick and attentive. Wonderful service. As far as the food goes; the chicken was moist and tasty, with a nice smoky flavor. The sides were outstanding. The potatoes were among the best I've had from a Portuguese restaurant and while the rice wasn't as good as the potatoes, they were tasty and I'd get them again. I recommend getting a bottle of their house sauce as well. It's absolutely unbelievable, and provides some nice heat with a pang of vinegar taste. It's superb. While it might not taste as good as what Avo used to make (that's okay, nothing does), this establishment is an unbelievable gem and a must try for someone looking for incredible Portuguese food, with great service. Can't wait to try again.

Consider yourselves warned! Read the other reviews and re consider getting your meal from these guys. Everyone that works here including the owner is super rude, super condescending and simply have zero customer service skills. Clearly not the only one that thinks this way, many people below also had the same experience I did, the food is nothing special and overpriced, they’re chickens are super small and dry most times. Sides are boring and basic, absolutely nothing to them, there’s some many better chicken restaurants in the area, think twice about supporting Mario’s.

Had the rib dinner combo there. The ribs were quite obviously boxed grocery store ribs with way too much of the packaged sauce. The 'roasted potatoes' should have been billed as stewed potatoes. Had to throw out the vast majority of the food as it's taste and consistency were absolutely disgusting. Please avoid wasting your money there.

We recently pre ordered mario’s For a party we were having for about 20 people. The food was hot and ready exactly at the time I requested. We got the chicken, the fish filet, rice, potatoes and the Greek salad. Everyone couldn’t stop raving at how good the food was. The chicken was moist and flavourful. The fish was light and crispy, my son who is a picky eater devoured the filets. As all our guests were Portuguese, this speaks volumes for the quality of food. I’m a frequent customer and I believe they just gained a few more.

We usually order plain chicken there (mild one), it is always decent. Main thing we love about the chicken that it is not soggy/wet, but perfectly grilled (crisp on outside and soft inside). Today in the evening there was no wait time at all, we walked in and bought it, quick and easy. Thanks! ;)

i was a frequent customer till they missed part of my order. was asked to pick up the side next time i placed ANOTHER order. i agreed. placed an order a few days later in person and reminded the owner of my missing side and that to be included since i did pay for it! he went rude and defensive all at the same time. left feeling embarrassed, i paid for the order and was on my way. Very disappointed to see that not one worker was wearing a mask,or wearing gloves and I should have walked out but felt bad however wasn’t smart because someone could have easily passed the virus on to me within their employees. They clearly aren’t taking Covid seriously or the health Risks of their employees or customers. Food was good but service wasn’t great, owner lied when I asked employee if fish was fried recently she said no but owner stepped in and said it was done 10 min ago which was clearly a lie. Makes me nervous to go back. Disappointed beware

I have been to Marios BBQ in Oakville a few times before and I could not stop saying how good the food was and pretty big portions we got.Well today I sent my husband and we had it... I was never so disappointed in my life... I am pretty sure that this was not fresh food that was made today.. in fact i am pretty sure it was made either Saturday or Sunday because Monday was a holiday.. why would they serve customers with stale food. we payed for fresh food. everything was horrible. There is no way they cooked this food today. I have to rethink about going there now if this is the kind of serving i am going to get.... i might as well go to Nando instead

I spent 4 months living in Portugal last year, so I know authentic food, and I can say this is the BEST Portuguese grilled chicken this side of the Atlantic. The food is always fresh, there's never a long wait, and the service is friendly, professional and efficient. I especially like the very tall and handsome blonde gentleman who works behind the counter. He is SUCH a hospitality professional. 5/5, highly recommended.

Ok so if you're like most Canadians and have a special place in your heart for places like Swiss Chalet and love to celebrate on special occasions with their "famous nothing else is Swiss chicken.. then don't eat here. The food at Mario's BBQ is phenomenal and you will most likely never enjoy another chicken spot I guarantee that. So eat here with caution as it's highly addictive. I'm pretty sure my stomach just smiled ????

I went there Sunday oct 4 the staff and owner /cook and girl at the front were not wearing masks although I don’t have any issues with the food or staff living in a pandemic should have better precautions when handling cash then touching food the virus is airborne as mandated by the premier all public spaces should be masked even if you say you test yourselves every day won’t be going back very disappointed the screen is probably your next response but that doesn’t stop water droplets from going on peoples food protect your customers and not only yourselfwent again year later owner was wearing one mask the blond girl serving blatantly not wearing it properly over her nose guess nothing will change there

Love this place! There really isn’t a lot of Portuguese restaurants in Oakville and Burlington, and don’t let the name fool you it’s not just chicken they have delicious fish and veggies even fava beans. I’m usually not a fan of piri piri sauce but they make theirs a little creamy which is really nice and different. We used to have to go all the way to Missisaga to get Portuguese food now we go here. I do still wish that we could find even more traditional Portuguese restaurants in the area where I could get my salted cod, but this place is still very amazing.

Not a great experience. Based on the description and a logo that looks like Nando's or Galito's, I expected similar. The hot Mac & Cheese side was actually macaroni salad with mayo, super disappointment. They didn't have white meat, so I had to get something that I didn't really want. It was not good, underwhelming. The staff were not only awkward, they were very unfriendly while I was being as nice as humanly possible hoping they'd come around. Also NOT wearing masks. HELLO, this is not optional. Sorry, I'll always try to support a business in these times, but this one is a huge fail. Don't be fooled by how the food looks, I thought it looked good too.

Sides are superb - grilled veggies, Greek salad, potatoe balls, fava beans mmmm ... Chicken is a round-of-the-mill roast chicken with poured over piri piri hot sauce. It really looks like someone grilled raw, unseasoned chicken and THEN poured the sauce over.

This is our family's stable. Fantastic Portuguese chicken at a great value and taste. We order from Mario's for large family gatherings, as it's always a hit. They always add a small container of piri sauce to our orders, which we love. Would highly recommend.

The chicken is seasoned and roasted very well. The sauce however was so underwhelming. I asked for spicy and it was bland at best, not even mild. The rice and potatoes were ok, nothing special. There are much better options in Mississauga if you could make the drive. Especially BPC which destroys Mario’s. Mario’s chicken is still better than Nandos but their sauce is not, and what’s Portuguese chicken without an amazing sauce? Maybe they were skimpy in the sauce so if you’re reading this Mario, when a customer asks for spicy, make sure the sauce is all over the meal and throughout. Not a thin layer basted on the first piece of chicken.

Been eating at Mario's for over a decade, have been loving that sauce since!. I visit the Oakville location every week even a few times a week, since it opened it's doors. Staff are always great, food is delicious and most importantly consistent to what im used to especially with the original location on Hurontario. It gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's definitely worth waiting for. Portions are the best thing about Mario's, great value and flavour.
