This place was a letdown for me. Nothing seemed to pack any punch. Carbonara needed nutmeg or something. Caesar, the anchovies were bland, like they'd rinsed all the salty flavor off . . Waiter was "curt". Nice interior .

Really bad host treatment. The server brought 5 slices of bread for a table of 7. We asked for chilli flakes for the pizza and they never came neither more bread. Black flies were flying around the food all the time. The food was ok though, but the experience was so bad and overpriced.

Great customer service and delicious food. We will return and show our continued support of this restaurant. On New Years Eve, we put in an order for pickup, and waited as it was extremely busy. On pickup I noticed that somehow one dinner was not made gluten free. They apologized a few times, and made it right away and discounted that entree. This is excellent customer service that you don't find everywhere. The food was very tasty and high quality, and enjoyed by the family.

I just got food from there with my boyfriend and we loved it, however I have to say they lose one star because of the portion size of the gnocchi my boyfriend got was very tiny.It was just not enough for him. I got the vegan rapini sausage pasta which was actually super delicious and my boyfriend wished he got. The only thing is that at times the rapini tasted almost pork-like But I seriously doubt the restaurant is not washing the pans in between making meals especially if they were cooking PORK which is a big no no for many religious and personal reasons. So I give them the benefit of the doubt in this Case, but if anyone one else wonders the same and sees this, then you know what is happening.

As an Italian myself I was very disappointed with the order I received. The pizza wasn’t cooked well and wasn’t even cut. The calamari was greasy and and had a bad taste. The pizza presentation was that of of child. A the best is the cost $73.00 for two pizza and calamari. I would highly recommend staying away from this place.

The food was alright. We had the bruschetta and the gnocchi. The bruschetta was good however it had a little too much raw onion, but I think that is just my personal taste. I did not like the gnocchi I had however, the pesto was weird tasting and not a traditional style of pesto like I had expected. The vegan caesar salad was quite nice though. Our bill for bruschetta, a small caesar salad, and two pastas came to $90 without the tip. Considering we didn't order drinks, we thought this was a bit pricey for the "okay-ish" food. The thing that was really disappointing however was how rushed we were. The waiter sat us and within 2 minutes was back and asked us if we wanted to order. We hadn't even put our menus down yet and didn't really get a chance to look at them. We ordered appetizers first and he left, and then again, within about 2 minutes he was back to take our entree order. We got our food and by the time we left, we had only been there for 40 minutes and ordered an appetizer, salad, and main course all at different times. When I had booked the person I spoke to made me aware that we would only have the table for 90 minutes, which I was completely fine with. But our experience was so rushed that we didn't even spend half that time there. I understand they are trying to get people in and out with COVID, but I would rather have just not gone then to have my lunch rushed like that. Not to mention that it was lunch time, 2pm, and the restaurant was quite empty. There was also a table of 5 sitting across from us that was walking around the restaurant without masks taking pictures, and when they got up to leave they were about 1 foot away from our table, again without masks on. I don't think I'll be returning.

Friendly staff and nice cozy atmosphere. The fire oven pizza was simple but really well made, and the seafood pasta was rich, flavourful, and absolutely incredible. By far the best Italian I've had to date. If anything, the portion sizes could've been slightly bigger.

Overpriced disappointment. I decided to splurge and treat myself to a nice chicken caesar salad for lunch, opted to try Il Fornello as in my experience Italian restaurants typically make good caesar salads. Not this one I guess! I got one little plastic container of dressing for a large salad, and the chicken was overcooked and had no flavour with the exception of the bitterness of the char. Including taxes and tip it came to almost $30! I've had much better salads for half that price. Service wasn't great either. Definitely will not be back.

A new favorite Italian restaurant for us! On our first visit we used the pizza and a Caprese salad ... both very good! Came back a week or so later for another pizza and saw some pasta dishes come out to a nearby table and decide to go the pasta route. We had the gnocchi with pesto and pine nuts and a spicy tomato rapini pasta dish and again both were delicious. Will be back soon! Nice quiet and cozy atmosphere, waiters were super pleasant and well informed of the dishes. Highly recommend for a great pasta or pizza dinner!

Went over the Christmas holidays, what a lovely experience. The beautiful festive decor and enthusiastic staff made for a smooth and delightful dinner service. This is our go-to restaurant for Italian food - it's excellent. I have had pizza there (the Pizza Prosciutto is my favourite). This time the quality was no different. They surprised me with a soup, a Tuscan specialty "Ribollita" from Siena. The Pollo con Asiago didn't disappoint. It has parking right across from the front door.

Food was good I had the chicken and vegetables with olive oil for lunch . Problem was it was a little do soaked in oil. I wish they would make it a little more less oily. It was like a soup almost. Chicken was amazing at least .

I love this restaurant! I was born in Rome and lived in Italy until I was 24. I also go back every year. I know what real Italian food tastes like. Il fornello has the closest Italian taste than all of the Italian restaurants I have visited during the last 31 years I have lived in Toronto. I would definitely recommend it. Great service as well and very cheerful atmosphere.

I ordered their risotto, vegan lasagna and a vegetarian gnocchi. The risotto was not so good. The flavor was underwhelming and the peas were undercooked. Gnocchi tasted good and lasagna was REALLY GOOD. I wish I hadn't ordered the risotto.

Ambiance nice, the server was pleasant, if inattentive. Unfortunately, in my opinion, that's the end of the good points. Ordered chicken parmigiana. Probably the worst I have ever had. If I prepared it at home for guests, I would be embarrassed. Flavourless sauce, cheese on top was burnt, and the chicken was dry. When it came time to pay the bill, using a credit card, the gratuity on the processing machine defaulted to a tip percentage of 18%. I don't have a problem tipping a generous amount when the service is outstanding and the food good. I do, however, resent being automatically charged 18% when it is a below average experience.

I tried two pizzas, was not impressed. The Pizza Margherita was blah, and the Pizza Rapini was bitter, with burned garlic. I’ve had better, most recently at a holiday inn express in Niagara Falls of all places. I’m shocked that this place has such a high rating.

This restaurant has the authenticity of a true italian restaurant. Everything here was done right. Atmosphere was spot on from the picture's on the wall to the decor and table setting. I felt at home and part of la famiglia. The food portions were perfect and flavorful. I can't say enough about this place and highly recommend it if your looking for an authentic italian restaurant. If I could give 10+ stars they would score even higher. I didn't get a chance to meet the owner, but will make it a point next time I'm in town to congratulate him on such a well run establishment.

We we’re just there for lunch… Our boys pizzas were served hot… The other pizza was served barely warm… it was not busy at lunchtime and not sure of the reason why the pizza was not piping hot from the oven .

Booked reservations for two and when showed up on time we were told by lady that manager decided to closed the kitchen. Before the restaurant even closes? Umm thats why we made reservations! It was our anniversary and because we didnt make reservations anywhere else we could not do a proper dinner. P.s. to reply to owners review, i was told reservation is for 8 20 and for 90 minutes i can come at anytime as long as in that time frame. I was told at the door owner called my cell where i never received any call! Also i was told a different story at door. Lady said we can serve u food but u have to be done by 9 and there was no mention of alcohol(we dont drink!)

Very good place! The grilled and fried calamari were amazing. Service was good but could have paid more attention to our water running low, but food prices are very fair. The butternut squash soup was nice and hearty. I ordered the pizza diavola and the crust was absolutely amazing however the entire experience was too salty. The baccala was the same sauce as the grilled calamari albeit still cooked well. If you enjoy mushrooms, the mushroom tagliatelle was outstanding! Overall a good experience and would visit again.

Spaghetti alla trapanese *chefs kiss*. Try this dish from here if you like pesto and pasta. It is so hearty and delicious with lots of chopped almonds to give a unique pesto spin. Il Fornello is a solid Italian restaurant with mostly great items on their menu. The pizza, pasta and dessert were all great. The gnocchi liguria was an enjoyable dish as well. If you have a sweet tooth, make sure to order their tiramisu, it is soft, messy, and flavourful just how it should be. The Creme brulee needs a thicker caramelized topping but that is easily fixed.

Very nice restaurant and food, but the only thing is that for a Italian restaurant I was expecting bread at the table, we had to request some but then there was no refills, oil comes mixed in already in a small dish which makes it hard to pour and share when it’s a big group. Oil bottles should be at the table.

We have been coming here for a very long time. Food has always been good here, always consistently good. Their pizzas are to die for. Great atmosphere and excellent service. We always have the grilled calamari as a starter and cycle through various other dishes.

I went to try Il Fornello's vegan menu. Ihad the Bruschetta Pomodora and the Avocado Caesar salad off they're vegan menu and it was good. I will say that when you go to their website there's a very large vegan menu but I think the different locations pick and choose which items they'll make. As well, on the menu they say they use Earth Island brand of vegan cheese but upon looking at the menu details in the Oakville location in the description they use Daiya (still vegan but this really upsets my stomach and it's personally the worst tasting vegan cheese) so there went some issue. It's nice to have another vegan option place in Oakville but it's slightly disappointing that the full menu isn't out at the the location.

This hands down is one of my favourite Italian places in Oakville!! It was my first time here, I called ahead to make reservations & the service was amazing and the food was EVEN better. Honestly I HIGHY recommend coming here if you ever have a craving for authentic Italian pizza & pasta, legit to die for! I hadn’t had carbs in a while so indulging here was amazing. These two main dishes we ordered to share between two people was the diavola pizza (comes with olives but I don’t like so I asked for the pizza without it) & the Tagiatelle Funghi mixed is a super rich creamy sauce and we added chicken- DELICIOUS just enough sauce it was perfection. The staff here are super friendly & the chef Ranga (I think was his name) was amazing super sweet and made our food in a timely manner & it was fresh and hot when served. I really enjoyed Il Fornello and I 100% will be returning, just after lunch alone I had already msged a bunch of people saying they must try this place out! Highly recommend for date nights, outtings with friends or if you want dine by yourself and enjoy some amazing food come here ! Also cleanliness is top of mind here, they instant clean after guests leave not just tables but chairs as well, they seat all customers apart with a managing number to dine-in. Thank you so much to our serve Cayla who was fantastic and had great recommendations !

Simply the best Italian food I've had in these parts. I was born in Italy and I'm very particular about Italian restaurants. Having owned my own and having been highly successful, I don't usually hold out much hope for a truly fabulous meal at any Italian restaurant so when I look at the menu and see a seafood pasta... it's trial by fire! First, I was majorly impressed with the bread and olive oil/balsamic combo that came out as an automatic amuse bouche... The olive oil was gold leaf... I have it at home and know how pricey it is and how wonderful it tastes. Then when I could not make up my mind between 2 wines, the waitress offered a sampling to help me make up my mind. The menu has some really classic dishes...so classic that they're avant guarde and I went with my all time favorite the seafood linguine. I was not disappointed! A mountain of mussels, scallops, shrimp and baby squid tossed with perfectly cooked pasta and a delectable red sauce was presented to me. I was in piggy heaven! I have found my go to restaurant and I can't wait to go back! Well done!

My wife, 9 year old daughter and I went for dinner over the weekend, we had reservations So we were seated promptly. The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly, even the manager came by to help clear the table and check on us. The service was friendly, the food delicious and well priced, my daughter loved her kids pasta dish. We didn’t have the pizza, but we could see it at other tables and it too looked very inviting, maybe next time! Overall a great dinner, went home with no regrets.

First time dining at Il Fornello. I had one of their gnocchi dishes with fresh vegetables like tomatoes peppers and zucchini topped with a crumble of italian sausage . In a pomodoro sauce. I was impressed by the lightness of the gnocchi in my mouth not heavy or weighty feeling. The portion was perfect while waiting for meals we were served calabrese slices with balsamic and evo to dip. The only issue we has was the limited selection of wines per glass. If you wanted a moscato or riesling you needed to by the bottle. Service was great and they were attentive. Definitely would revisit this location again

I had an excellent experience at Il Fornello near Dorval last night. The service was extraordinary! I spilled a full glass of wine and staff rushed over to help and offered to grab salt for my husband's pants (where most of the wine landed!), as well as change the tablecloth. I refused everything and was so embarrassed. Without asking, they came with another glass of wine even though it was completely my fault. On top of the exceptional service, the food is consistently good and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I especially don't expect service like this with Covid and everywhere being so short staff.

Once again, a fantastic experience. The food here just doesn’t quit. The fishi pizza is always a winner. The penne a la vodka is always great. Many other pasta dishes are also always a hit. Monday’s are now 1/2 price bottles of wine. And they’ll cork them to take any extra home. I just love this restaurant. Consistently fantastic.

As several members of our family have celiac disease and therefore cannot eat gluten, we frequent Il Fornello regularly. The staff are very knowledgeable about what items you can and cannot eat. The food is also amazing! The pizza is the best there is out there for gluten-free as well as the gf pasta in cream sauce. The servers are also fantastic and manager Warren is always friendly. Great place to eat!

I was expecting more. I used the ladies washroom even before I sat ay my table. The washroom needs some attention; large hole and drywall coming off the walls. The lunch (grilled calamari and shrimp) was burnt and fell short of tasting good. In the end, the price for an appetizer and the capressi salad was too expensive.

Went here for Valentine's day with my boyfriend, and it was very busy with customers but had a lovely and calm atmosphere. The servers are a bit older so they are more experienced and mature than most places you go to. The cocktails are delicious as well. I had the Valentine feature cocktail which had Chambord and soda in it. For dinner, I had the ravioli alla zucca, which was the BEST I've ever had, and my boyfriend had the veal scallopine, which was also incredible, rich and savoury. My nonna would be proud. Molto delicioso! Will definitely be back!

This might be my new favorite place to go for dinner or just simply satisfy my pasta cravings. The service was beyond great, the atmosphere is romantic, cozy and quiet, and it isn't too expensive to dine here. The food reminds me of my dad's cooking back home, which is flavorful, fresh, and filling. I also love the view of the pizza oven and their pasta making process as you enter. So cool! Our waitor was nice and pretty good overall but he couldve been alittle more aware of his surroundings. This place used to be a lot better. The service is always good it's the food that is lacking. The shrimp and calamari appetizer was gross I could smell it coming to the table.. sorry but ew! The pizza is overpriced for what it is I was expecting much better. The pasta is a relatively small portion compared to other places but it sure has that fine dining price and its just not good. The carbonara reminded me of a lipton side kick and veal was just wrong. I did like the antipasto but that's it.

Il Fornello Oakville is extremely disappointing . This place used to have great food with great service and unfortunately the food is low quality and WAY overpriced. My husband and I frequented this restaurant weekly in 2015, 2016 and have gone back once in 2017 and tried again tonight. Do not order seared tuna salad... tiny portion for price. I came home with a horrible stomach ache. Grilled calamari was rubbery and mussels were drowned in tomato sauce. The pasta looked almost microwaved and I am sorry comparable to East Side Mario’s. Bring back lamb and steak to your mains... horrible selection .. looks like this place is only good for pizza. By the way.... when customers leave cutlery on plate your servers should NEVER pick up cutlery with their hands and place on the table!! After appetizers are served replace with new cutlery! Simple basic etiquette! Won’t be returning .

This was my first time going to IL Fornello I took my girlfriend for our anniversary. We started with BRUSCHETTA POMODORO andAVOCADO CAESAR it was really delicious and very yummy. And then for the main course I had LINGUINI ALLA CARBONARA loved it e enjoyed it with a nice glass of wine very taste meal . My girlfriend had PENNE CAPRI ahe said it was good . We will be going back . Cant not wait . It's a big pricey but it's well worth it . Service was too notch.

I been here before they've should be loyal to their customers or they won't come back, we made reservations for 4 originally for Friday November 20 they won't let us change to 5 people for 7pm i know i the rules because am dishwasher who hasn't worked since March the hostest or waitress was very rude today on the phone it just Tuesday November 17 today. I tried to order delivery through Skip the Dishes yesterday. After sorting through a good size order I went to pay. I was then advised that the food was only available for pickup. It would have been good to know before I spent the time sorting through an order. I thought I’d try again today. This time I placed the order, my credit card was billed but there was no confirmation of the order by the restaurant so I called check on what had happened. I was cheerfully advised that the kitchen was likely ignoring on line orders as they concentrate on in house orders. Lovely. Thanks for taking my money and have me call to find out you’ve ignored an order I paid for. The food is great, but this is ridiculous. If you are not delivering, get off the service offering and stop wasting people’s good will and time. I will never order from this place again.

Great service been coming here for years, unfortunately the pizza was tasteless, great dough but no taste from sauce or toppings. Ordered the chicken with veggies and potatoes, the size of the breast of chicken was shameful not even enough for a child portion..very disappointing although it tasted great. It has gotten very overpriced and I don't think I will be going there again very time soon. For a family of 4 we ended up paying $135 plus tip for lunch, far too much for 2 appetizers, 4 entres, 4 pop and no desserts and it 's only lunch not Dinner!

My wife and I had an absolutely amazing experience dealing with Il Fornello in Oakville for our son's baptism lunch. We initially spoke with Dan, the Restaurant Manager there and he really took care of us from the start. He helped to craft a menu for that day and how setup would be and it gave us a sense of confidence in the restaurant to handle our party of 40. On the day of, everything went off without a hitch and the staff were well prepared and accommodating with our group. Everything we ordered came out promptly as we had arranged the menu before hand. The food was so good and the setup was gorgeous! We couldn't be happier with the choice we made!

Just had some items from the new vegan menu, and they were delicious!! I had the vegan avocado caesar salad, and the pizza vegano, which is a grilled vegetable and dairy free cheese pizza. After seeing the menu online, I was very excited about coming to this restaurant(Oakville Location). However, we experienced terrible service. 1. We noticed that every table was getting served the complimentary bread, but we didn't know that "we were suppose to ask for it", which our server failed to mention at the beginning. About 40 minutes into dinning, we asked her how come we weren't served the bread, she told us that "there isn't enough so we don't bring it out to everyone, unless they ask for it". However, when we looked around, every single table was given their complimentary bread at the start. I understand the low supply issue that the restaurant may have, but the server did not even have the courtesy to ask, which to me is just terrible hospitality. 2. The appetizers were good, but small portions. Pizza was good, pasta was terrible. Overall: Wouldn't go back & wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I wonder if they compromise on the ingredients and the quality just because "they don't have enough". I would give this place a 0/5

This was one of my favourite places until my dinner yesterday evening. Placed a take out order two hours in advance to ensure it would be delivered by 7:30pm for my family. Called the store at 7pm to ensure the order was on file and the women who answered the phone put me on a brief hold and then told me the food was already prepared. I didn’t think anything of this until the food arrived at 7:50pm and was cold as ice. I was only a few mins drive from the store. The food tasted delicious but was cold and we didn’t think anything of it. I ordered two pizzas, two appetizers which totalled to almost $100. 40 mins later my ENTIRE family was running to the washroom. We all had food poisoning from the food that was prepared. I wouldn’t expect this from such a reputable establishment. I did review my order but have yet to receive even a message or phone call. That will be the last time I spend my money here and it’s a shame. Buyers beware.

If I could rate this place 3.5 I would, there is nothing erong with the food or the service, in fact the service is 5/5, I just find the food kinda bland and not as good as other restaurants and it's a bit expensive. My husband and I visited recently and ordered a bunch of apps, caprese salad, antipasto, and grilled shrimp and calamari, these were all fine nothing too special, I actually loved the antipasto but the tomatoes in the caprese were a little soggy and the shrimp and calamari I just wouldn't order again. For my entree I got the linguine carbonara, it was okay it used to be better, now it just reminded me of mushroom soup on noodles, it wasn't as great as I had remembered. My husband got the veal limone, and again it was okay. The veal was good he said and he enjoyed his pasta but the tomatoes on the pasta tasted the same as the bruschetta they have there, he said it just tasted like bruschetta and not the dish it claimed to be. When the bill came it was over $150, we did have beer and wine my husband also said the selection of draught is disappointing, so basically we spent a lot of money on an okay meal we will probably come back however the only reason we ended up there was because the restaurant we originally wanted to go was booked for reservations.

Went here for a Thursday dinner. When I walked in, we were promptly greeted by our server and were seated. Note: we called ahead first and booked a reservation. We were told that we had a limit of 90 minutes. First thing I noticed was that they had glass dividers between some of the seating (especially those who shared the wooden wall between us). I also noticed the beautiful, beautiful, clay oven. Our server (I forgot her name unfortunately), asked us what we wanted & we placed our order. We ordered Ruffio white wine and it was a great complement to what we were eating. Our server wasn't over attentive or too distant, she knew exactly when to come to our table and was excited and happy to be serving us. She had a wonderful personality, and it contributed to the already aesthetically pleasing dining experience. Parking is ample, and a great location.

Called this place and made a reservation for 2. She asked my husband for our credit card for reservation but we didn't have it handy so she said that's fine. We asked what time they closing, they said 10pm and kitchen closes at 9pm. We drove far to come to here, when we came she said they are close and the manager called us to cancel and left a voicemail. No he did not call us, we even showed our call log to the girl in the front. Then she said we didn't give our credit card, but she didn't tell us mandatory but said it's fine. This place is so unprofessional, it was our anniversary dinner and they ruined it. If they have called us on our way, we would have not drove all the way. We end up going to a better place where we felt welcomed.

Amazing food and reasonably priced - not dirt cheap, but you won't be able to find any cheap Italian restaurant that serves high-quality food. The arborio rice balls are incredibly tasty

Have gone here about 6 times or so. Two of those times were, I think, Mothers Day, and I know New Years Eve (today). Mothers Day (maybe it was Easter?) they served a buffet which we were not made aware of when we reserved a table. I hate hate hate buffets it should be said. It was really good. Fresh and interesting and tasty. Tonight was New Years...clearly these two events see them at their busiest and most trying. Service was great. Not as warm as you would expect in a place like this on a normal night but prompt and correct and appreciated. Not sure why there are posts on here complaining about portion sizes. Our apps and mains were great and we took some home. I will admit it is a little pricey but I don't come here for daily lunches and if you want to save money head on over to East Side Mario's and have them thaw you up something tasty. The chefs here are using good parmesan, proper mushrooms, nice olive oils and very good pasta. The pizza dough you can see sitting on the counter when you walk in should tell you all you need to know. If you have ever cooked at all this place will impress you with the ingredients and technique I promise you. Maybe they put out a bad plate the day you were there but I KNOW these guys are cooking from the heart. And you keyboard warriors complaining that your whole family got food poisoning right after you ate the food....doesn't work that way. Takes about 8 hours. So you likely psyched yourselves into sickness because you are the sort of people who like to be outraged.

This restaurant has some really good food. A problem I had was that the service was very rushed. It's like they want you in and out as fast as possible. Our waiter was not that attentive, we had to ask the other waiter for things that we weren't offered to us like other tables. He also took my cutlery off the plate he was removing and just placed it on the table, gross. The food makes up for the weird/poor service.

I honestly cannot believe i just payed 43 dollars for a 4 slice pizza and 1 beer....i got take out...as i was waiting i had 1 beer. The debit machine when I clicked “%tip” automatically went to “18%”.....no wonder this place was soooo empty. Pizza was ok and thats why i gave it 2 stars but WOW! Never will i be back. RIP OFF. And Rest In Peace to this establishment. Go to Pasqualino’s in Milton. I got the exact same thing 2 days ago (Same beer and pizza) and tipped 20%! It cost me 31 dollars and the pizza was bigger and better!

It was our first time at Il Fornello and we’ve always wanted to try it. We were not disappointed. Atmosphere is great and the service as well. Very clean and organized. We were always checked on regularly and water always refilled. We had the margherita pizza and Risotto. Both were excellent! We will be back again!

I went on the other good reviews here on google. The service was impeccable and the meal we had was top notch. My wife had the fire pizza. Once you have tasted real pizza it will be very hard to eat the fast food ttpe stuff. I had a penne capri. I found it a little.on the salty side. The desert we had were great. I was rather sad that they didnt have any of the flying monkey beer on tap like they advertise on the web site. Oh well.

Very average place. I expected some top notch pizza because of the Italian sounding name, but it was very run of the mill medium tier. Also my shirt seemed to stick to the back of the chairs which was awkward. Still tasted good, but just not what I expected.

Food is really good. However, service is terrible especially the lady who takes the phone. I don't know how to properly pronounce the Italian words in the food menu, because I DON'T speak Italian. the lady was so proud of the language and had to correct me every word when I said it, despite she perfectly understood what I ordered. It is just RUDE.
