As you can read, it reaches an reviews average is really positive, and it's founded on a very large number of opinions, so we can be pretty sure that the assessment is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to set feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Pub.
Is a authentic filling Pub in the heart of Oak Bay . It truly fits in as a local Watering Hole amongst a historical looking old world Village with modern flares but works . The staff is phenomenal knowledgeable and very outgoing and attentive . The drink selection is phenomenal as well as they know how to pour a proper pint of Guinness . The menu is good but the food is phenomenal . Very fresh very good oysters . A real Hidden Gem
It was a fun New Years eve. I'm glad I chose this location to ring in the new year. It's a quaint little pub with friendly staff. Crowded table set up and small dance floor. But a nice place to go with friends and family or to take out of town guests. Lots of food to choose from and extensive drink menu.
I am, right now, sitting at the bar in the Penny Farthing. Steve, hipster bartender extraordinaire has just taken away the dishes from which I ate their Butter Chicken. He also took away the empty YYJ flight I consumed. I am in a happy place. The Butter chicken was delicious (perhaps a few more pieces of Naan?). My only complaint is that there wasn't more. Now, don't get me wrong...the portion size was fine, I just wish I could have packed more away! I can console myself with the knowledge that I can suck the dregs out of my moustache on the ride home... The YYJ flight showcased 4 fantastic Island beers, all of which I enjoyed, from the full-bodied Hoyne Pilsner to the Driftwood Naughty Hildegard...with the Lighthouse Racerocks Amber Ale really standing out, for me... Ambience is great, Old English pub feel with The Who playing as I entered...if only there was a little less Guns and Roses and Metallica...but that's my personal taste showing. Music was not too loud for reasonable conversation to mutate into yelling, which is good... Thouroughly enjoyable, if not frequent (enough) night out for local food and drink enjoyment! Check it out! You won't be disappointed. -edit Oh! And urinal dividers in the bathroom! +1 000 000!
If you only have time for one burger while in Oak Bay (Victoria) this is the one. (Well, this one and Dead Beetz behind the Royal BC Museum). Good wine list and a great staff make for a pleasant outing.
What a nice place to go and kick back for some great food and service. I got the lamb burger and it was fantastic! Check this place out.
Lovely location and nice vibe inside but generally food & service below average. I had a pint of water dropped on me and others in my family by the server who could barely muster an apology. As I sat there soaking wet, no further mention was made and a few salty dishes later we got our bill without a mention of the bathtime dining experience. Service fail. Average food. Not inspired to return.
Ordered the Shepard’s pie and the carrot cake. Shepard’s pie tasted amazing and portion sizes was worth it as it came with a salad at around 19$. We also had the caramel flan, in my opinion was but underwhelming compared to the carrot cake. The carrot cake was delicious!
Charming and characterful. Penny Farthing has a good selection of beers and ciders and is a lovely place for a meal. I had fish and chips and it was great the fish was cooked just right in a tasty batter.
I nearly had a fantastic experience. The food, atmosphere, and staff were absolutely wonderful. I arrived and started walking up the wheelchair alley entrance on the side with my 85 year old grandma. Unfortunately once we got to the door we saw a sign printed on it that said it was closed. We had to go around the front and carefully make our way up the stairs. Other than that inconvenience it was a very nice time. I would definitely recommend the pommes frites parmesan.
Love coming to the Penny - great atmosphere, food, drinks, people and has a real cozy vibe that I sincerely appreciate. Crispy chicken sandwich is A1. …
Beautiful English-Victorian style bar with a great selection of beers and whiskeys. The food is very average and the prices are on the high side. They do have some good happy hour specials though.
Good service, try the French onion soup!
Excellent beer choices. The burgers are great too but perhaps a bit heavy on the mayo
Food was great, but service was rather slow. I can't say if it was just an off day when someone was unable to show up for work, or a standard problem.
Large portions; I had a tastey home burger with a side of gravy. Good, prompt service. Wide selection of beer and wine. My wife and I usually split a meal because the portions are big enough to do so. We plan to make the PF a regular dining establishment.
Great pub food!! The staff are suuuper kind! The shrimp, Fish n chips and the Ceaser salad are very good. Would recommend to a friend.
The Shepherd pie was great; Emily, the waitress, was very kind and the ambiance superb. Thank you!
Editing review: I'm changing my original review from 3 stars to 5 stars as the owners have actually recognized the problem and done something about it by adding more staff. What more could someone want from a review? Go penny farthing and thank you for listening! :-) ..... Original: Been here a couple times and the atmosphere and the "life" in the place keeps bringing me back. Sadly though it does feel understaffed for the amount of people in there. I really do not think its the fault of the servers as they were always running around or doing bills for other tables I think it's just a lack of staff during those peak times that could certainly be improved. Other then that I do love the place but it's a thing that gets brought up every time we consider going there "do we want to go as its going to be slow as they are probably busy" ... when we have gone at a non busy time its been wonderful so not sure if there is something that can be done there. The parmesan frites are awesome, please don't take that off the menu ;)
Extremely disappointed. I had heard from others this pub had poor service and mediocre food; however, I wanted to check it out for myself. So here is what I experienced... Walking in, the decor was nice and that's about where my positive experience stopped. We grabbed a table and waited and waited and waited until I finally got up, went to the bar and asked if we had anybody serving our table. I was told "yes" and then we got our waitress, who was pleasant enough. From there we ordered and once again waited and waited...After 30 minutes I decided to go back to the bar to see if our order had been lost? I was told at that point, that it had only been 28 minutes (only...) and that it was their lunch rush (as I told this I looked around the entire front area had two people at the bar and maybe six at most in the front). The back of the pub looked about half full. I've been to many pubs and this was no where near what I would call a "lunch rush". I went back to our table, our lunch showed up and well, it was certainly not worth the wait. To sum it up all dishes were noticeably overcooked. So at this point I think it couldn't get any worse... LOL (I have to laugh at this point because it got to the point where it was so bad it actually became humorous and that does not happen often). ... we got the bill. From which we discovered we were charged $2 extra for "splitting a plate". There was no mention of this charge, as well they just gave us side plates and didn't actually serve the food on two separate plates (which is pretty standard for all restaurants when applying such a charge.). From what I have heard from others and now based on my own experience the little Oak Bay Avenue strip is in much need of a new pub. One with service and quality food. The only thing keeping the current one going I figure is that it must be the local watering hole, based solely on its location.
Food was great. The seat yourself option is flawed. You either have to be sitting right in eyesight of the bar or at the bar to be served timely. We sat upstairs and it took 15ish minutes to get a server. And dont even bother trying to get a refill on your drink while upstairs they will help you the one time, bring you your food and ask if you want the bill. If we come next time... we will sit closer to the bar and avoid the upstairs all together.
Awesome neighbourhood pub with a classic old English style on. Friendly, attentive & attractive staff are awesome. Tip large.
Super supper the Penny Farthing on Halloween. I had the delicious French Onion soup
Pub food. Service was good. Nothing on the menu that screamed out original..but if in the mood for pub dinner. Decent place to go.
Good beer list and the food is a cut above in terms of both ingredients and presentation. Excellent service and authentic atmosphere. Wheelchair accessible by side door.
Awesome pub in a cool neighborhood. Good food and friendly service. Average pricing.
Was there on St.Patrics Day and overall had a good time. PROS: - Good Food - Great Service - Nice and cozy ambiance CONS: - Music was toooo loud - Type of music was not appropriate for the elderly clientele
A great place to go get some drinks on any night of the week. The penny farthing is a neighbourhood pub with great decor and good atmosphere.
Nice friendly service. I miss the old happy hours with larger beers and lasting until 6 pm.
Food was so good and the Seafood Chowder was amazing.
Goes out of their to make your dining experience wonderful.
Such a quaint little pub. Our server Maddy was just lovely!
Great cocktails, fast servicen
Good atmosphere. They were happy to replace a spilt soup. Prices were decent, nothing unexpected. Food was enjoyable, no complaints. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town.
Food and service have always been 5 star.
Better than average gastro-pub food, great drink choices, excellent and social servers, good atmosphere, and remarkably consistent. It can be busy at peak times, but one shouldn't argue with success!
Six of us visited The Penniy Farthing on August 17, 2016. We were accommodated quickly, the food was terrific, and I especially enjoyed the camraderie with the waitstaff. It was a totally enjoyable experience.
A little pricey and the food portions aren't huge but great food and great staff. Will definitely go again
Lovely Irish Pub!! Delicious food.
UPDATE: Went back to the Penny Farthings last Saturday evening.. My friend and I sat upstairs this time... Our server Sarah was fantastic... she took care of all the tables upstairs and did an amazing job.... we shared some chicken wings and fries... the food was much better and the drinks were great... Big turn around from a month ago... Thanks Sarah for making our evening great... ???? First post 5 weeks ago The food was expensive and bland.. the server tipped over my avocado and shrimp salad and the crouton fell onto the table. She asked me if I wanted a new one and I said yes... she walks away and brought me another crouton for my salad and didnt even put it in a plate... brought to me in her dirty hands... then question when I asked for another one that she didnt touch... and said I washed my hands... I told her I didn't care if her hands were washed... the salad had no flavor at all.. for a 30 $ meal it was very disappointing ..... I would not recommend this place except for drinks
We enjoyed everything. The food, the beer, the atmosphere and the service. We will definitely be back.
We just had a before dinner bevy. They mixed a good Negtoni for my wife. They gave me tasters of 3 ales before I chose so I got the one I wanted. Nice boutique pub.
With surprisingly great food and a nice atmosphere, this spot captures the comfort of an English pub with a bit more formal attire and better service. I love the cocktail list and the staff are always friendly. If you're looking for a quiet dinner grab a table upstairs or in the back, or check out Vis-a-vis next door. Within Oak Bay you won't find a better hang-out.
Food was good but a little salty. Services was fantastic and handled our large party very well.
My friend and I found this place from Google but unfortunately our experience in this pub was very disappointing. Even though the restaurant was not that busy at all, the server did ignore our table the whole time after serving our first order. She showed some weird attitude when we asked her if there was any recommendation for drinks and how certain drinks tastes like. When my friend was struggling with ordering and asking questions, most of time, the server just stood there passively so I had to jump into the "conversation". Moreover, I wanted to have my drink iced as the sever recommended but it was served hot and she didn't say sorry. After other friends joined us, the server didn't do any of these: greeings, bringing menu, setting the table for those people and coming to ask if they need anything. However, we could see that she was nice to other tables, serving with smile. We felt so discrminated and isolated. 5 of us actually were planning to drink there, but we didn't want her to ruin our night so we moved to another pub. The food was pretty nice. Especially, I enjoyed their cram chowder but I don't want to recommend this place to any of my friends from other countries, who has enough English ability to order food at a restaurant.
Amazing food, and amazing service, and great atmosphere. I will absolutely go back again :)
This is rich. An establishment that serves alcohol and therefore contributes to addictive behaviour and health issues, tries to put themselves on a pedestal? Interesting! Perhaps you should stay in your own lane when it comes to what people wish to put in their bodies?
Excellent location, staff, beer, chowder. But, typically, too many TV's and grindingly loud pop music. A little quieter in the back.
I must give a review on the meal my friend and I had today. I had the Caesar salad and she had the Calamari. I've often had the C - salad when I have visited. It's always been superb. Today I give it a rating of C-. The dressing - poor. The romaine - good. The bacon - fine. But the overall taste was just not good. My friend informed the server about her calamari. The presentation was awful, the taste awful. At least the server did not charge my friend. For my salad the price was $22 dollars. Charging for bacon is terrible given the poor quality. There was also just a sprinkling of finely grated parmesan. In the past there were generous big slices of parmesan. What is happening to the quality of the food? I was not impressed and will most likely pass on returning again.
I had a quick pint and snack with my son the other day. Food and service were tremendous. My son loved the scotch egg (his first one) and i was in awe of the prawns. So big, juicy and delicious. The only complaint i has was a rumling noise coming from.the roof of the rear most dining area?
We had a great lunch here. We both had the Nicoise Salad with the seared tuna and it was delightful! With a glass of wine as well. Good service and pleasant atmosphere.
never been to England but assume you have a pretty good idea of what an English pub looks like and ok with paying like $.65 more for beer while sitting entirely on stools? then I have the place for you it's this place, it's the place you're reading the review for
Located in the heart of the Oak Bay neighborhood, this English style pub is very comfortable yet also roomy. We enjoyed local draughts along with the best Shepard's pie ever. Staff was friendly and playful - they were decorating for the upcoming Halloween festivities. Coming here made a very good day great.
March 12, 2021 update Ordered fish and chips for pickup. You won't find any better in Victoria. Enjoying them for 20 years. Elizabeth ( Marketing Director ) and Matt (Manager) sent an invitation to let them make it right. Pleasantly surprised. With that kind of response, I certainly will order Fish and Chips again. Thank you both. Ordered pickup fish and chips previously. Were good last two times. This time I was disappointed.
My sister an I had the fish and chips today and we are so disappointed the fish was so greasy , the piece I took home was disgusting when heated it up the oil just ran out of it !! I have had better at any diner what a waste of money Service was very nice and she got the tip she deserved
The ambiance and the food at the Penny Farthing are excellent and make it worth a visit. The beer selection is quite good, too, though it doesn't match some of the best places in Victoria. The one downside is the price-point, which is unsurprising in Oak Bay but nonetheless high enough to stop me coming back too often.
Super cute and gorgeous pub and local watering hole. Tuesday's are great. Under $7 pet pint of any beer!
English-style pub couldn’t be more perfect for Oak Bay. I don’t enjoy multiple cricket-team photos, but the ornate woodwork, open fireplace and swaggering bar are a welcome distraction from hints of elitism. Here you will find a carefully curated menu with some spirits rarities and aging bottles. Oh and food too -like the most amazing warm olives in town. Is there a secret cellar downstairs? You’ll find your eyes and imagination wandering and transported to bygone times when this place was the unfortunate watering hole of... the city’s long-forgotten Polo team?
Love this place , when you are inside you feel you are in London !!! And they got my favourite all time beer Guinness. And the food is delicious, burgers are the best.
First time there. It's a real pub, great food lots of draft options
Very welcoming staff and a delicious Croque-Madame
The ambience of this pub is quite nice and the service is consistently pleasant and fairly prompt, but unfortunately the food is nothing to write home about and the prices are rather high for what you receive and it still being a pub. They have a happy hour but it's still higher priced than a lot of other spots in town and they only offer very, very few HH items. We're not seeing much diversity amongst the staff yet either but that's probably not intentional; it would be cool to see in the future Oak Bay tho.
Burger was great! Loved the atmosphere.
Very nice atmosphere, harks back to (as promised) my time growing up in the UK. Top notch food and service. Would recommend highly
My wife had had this place in here must visit list since the minute we decided to visit Victoria. It was worth it. Great atmosphere. Great food and really good beer. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come again.
I've been to the Penny Farthing a few times over the last few years and have usually enjoyed it. My latest experience was different from the norm. They currently have a "reduced menu" to help the kitchen keep up. Unfortunately the menu had nothing appealing on it, with the majority being burgers, two expensive entrees, and expensive salads. When the food arrived the burger I ordered was mediocre and tasteless, and the salad had little taste even with the funky dressing. The waitress we had was very attentive and nice and did a great job being on her own. Let me clarify that this business is suffering from staffing shortages like many others in the food industry right now. I certainly feel for the staff who are doing their best and I hope they can overcome the challenges of the current climate. That being said I will return once they've had time to address some of the issues.
If you are looking for a festive pub and Christmas themed cocktails and food, go to Penny Farthing before new years eve. You'll love it.
The chowder was not as thick as I expected, but was still very flavourful! The turkey club was tasty and fresh, and the YYJ flight of tasters did not disappoint. Service was quick and friendly, with whomever was first available bringing out orders. I found the table for two small and the chairs a little uncomfortable.
Had a wonderful time good company good food wonderful decor
Best kids fish and chips I've seen! Classic English style and enough that my kids didn't finish and I got some :)
We had onion soup and salt spring Island mussels. Delicious. The service was very courteous and we loved it. It felt normal.
Not the most intriguing menu, but if you can pick something, its not bad. Cute building and a nice pub to drink at. Lovely neighborhood too.
Nicely appointed British style pub. great cheese board and good selections in beer and cider.
We had the fish and chips and an appy. Soooooo good! Awesome English pub and good prices!
I found the service to be horrible...the female staff seem to have a chip on their shoulders. The food was pretty good but the atmosphere was ruined by the staff for me. It's a real disappointment as I just moved into the neighborhood and was looking forward to enjoying a drink and being able to walk home.
Came to this lovely little pub by recommendation of my neighbour, and was not disappointed! Excellent selection, and delicious food.
Service is really hit or miss. I've sat down and been ignored by servers for over 10 minutes (I ended up walking out). I've had cutlery forgotten. I've had sugar and cream forgotten for coffee /tea - which I had to remind the server 4 times about. I think you have a better chance at better service if you sit in the front area by the bar because the worst service I've gotten is in the second lounge past the bar.
We had a reservation for Vis a Vis, but got moved to Penny Farthing for dinner. The staff were amazing and ensured that we had the romantic experience that we wanted. The food was fantastic, though we ordered from the Vis a Vis menu. I will absolutely recommend either establishment, and will be going back for another date night.
Went for lunch and had the shrimp salad. It was a little small but wonderfully presented and delicious. The wine selection was good but I thought $19 a glass was too pricey.
Relaxed dining with plenty of room and magnificent food. Every time I visit the Penny Farthing, I leave wondering how soon I can come back again, because each time I have a great experience. My lady and I were last here in late November, and the restaurant was already decorated for Christmas - as you can see from the photo, there's a lot of care and attention put into making the Farthing look wonderful. We were seated up on the second level, seated at the railing so that we could enjoy the view of the downstairs and all the decorations. That titular spot is perfect for quiet dining, away from the bustle of the busier main level or other more boisterous diners nearby. It's the perfect spot for whiling away an afternoon in good company, and we're thinking that next time we'll bring a boardgame to really enjoy the quiet upstairs area. Our meals could only be described as magnificent: I've never had a chicken pot pie so perfectly made and presented, and my lady's eggs benny looked to be straight off a Canadian Living magazine cover. My pie was spiced just right, and served in a glazed lion's-head pot that created the perfect crust on top, and the sides were the prefect portion size of bacon, potato and cooked carrots - delicious, one and all! Special mention should be made of the staff here, some of the friendliest I've encountered in Victoria, or anywhere. They really make you feel like you're friends who have just dropped in for a meal, and make every effort to ensure that you're taken care of to truly enjoy your meal, without being over-attentive. We've had good chats with several servers to date, and never felt like they were anything other than truly interested in us as people - a rarity for busy wait staff in any restaurant, and to be prized. There's plenty of room in the Farthing, which has rich wood paneling throughout that makes the bar a standout treat for the eye. The overhead beam design makes you feel like you're walking into an old-world pub, without the claustrophobic actual size of many such places - delightful. As well, the recently renovated rear patio area is now only partially open to the elements year-round, and with its tiled rustic design feels quite open and charming, though the small live bushes have a unique scent. This is definitely a place to being someone for a quiet chat, or for a family to get together for a relaxed celebration; it's a rarity to see small kids scampering about, or to be bothered by loud conversations nearby. I really appreciate that fact, and we're making sure to return as often as we can, as a good good meal at the Farthing is the perfect end to a sunny afternoon's stroll through the Oak Bay downtown.
The only pub along Oak bay avenue. A good atmosphere quite busy but a good place for a drink. I did not eat here so cannot comment.
Overpriced and food with no flavour.
Beers are good. The pizza was kind of boring. The chicken club was fine. It's a cute little pub in the heart of a more affluent community village.
My partner and I enjoyed this place, it's a cosy, stylish pub that serves great food, my partner declared 'the best burger I ever had' ????
We liked this place. The food was great and service was too. If it weren't for the high prices (my salad was more than $25, it was big but still) it would have earned another star.
Good food, friendly service, nice pub-y atmosphere. (The last couple of times I've been there, the bar staff had the music loud enough that it precluded conversations. It was turned down when we asked.)
The atmosphere is great, the visuals are impressive, but service was okay and actual food was mediocre. Maybe good for a night out but bad for a dining experience.
Penny Farthing is a staple in the Oak Bay neighborhood and is not to missed, it's a beautiful classic pub with good service and great pub food with a twist. We have been there many times, and will continue to grab a pint, chat it up with the locals, and enjoy great food!
Great classy neighborhood pub! My boyfriend and I were called the cutest couple seated in the restaurant ????????
The inside of this restaurant/pub was amazing and the food was so delicious. You need to try Chicken Pot Pie ????, and Shepard's Pie.
Our favourite pub in Victoria, after doing a year long "pub crawl" of all the main pubs in Victoria and environs. What we like most is the friendly, neighbourhood, genuine "pub" like atmosphere of the place. It's big and has lots of different "zones" to sit and enjoy yourself in, from quiet back rooms for meals, to boisterous front bar areas. I only wish they had a genuine "snug" room or two. Food quality is excellent, and I'd rate this up with Irish Times downtown for the best quality pub food in all of Victoria. Staff is super friendly too, and while we've had a few meals screwed up (missing appys or wrong plates), they always make up for it (and it's only happened twice in 10 visits). Huge beer selection, including a lot of quality crafts, and the whiskey lineup isn't bad either.
Lively little pub. Atrocious prices for food. Small servings for a very high price. Too bad otherwise a nice little spot on The Avenue.
The fresh made pizza is amazing! The staff is inviting and the atmosphere is inviting. It's a great place to catch a football game.
A little pricey but a good atmosphere
LOVE the English-pub atmosphere! Love the decor, we came for beers after dinner. We had a flight of beers with friends, really enjoyed our time there, great service. Looking forward to returning and trying the food.
High priced food for what you're getting. They do pick up orders but don't have to-go cutlery, which would have been good to know before ordering. Was really disappointed with my meal.
My complimentary water review: as far as water goes this one was a bit flat. No water was brought to the table or offered by the server initially. I asked for a glass of water alongside my tea and it never arrived. Only once the food arrived (another member from our party asked for water for everyone) did we see any cups—and even then it wasn’t enough for everyone seated. We had to ask again for a couple more! By this time I was getting thirsty. All that time spent parched—maybe I didn’t drink enough during the day but it felt like an eternity. I was stranded in a dry dry desert. More like a desolate tundra (I was also a bit chilly). Yet, once I finally had a sip I was not impressed; it tasted like tap water. Nothing exciting about the taste or temperature. Just a plain glass of water. Which, given my state of desperate dehydration, should’ve tasted like heaven on earth. Alas, I was still left craving more—unquenched! The glass is half empty. ????
Great atmosphere & architecture. Great spot for a beer when in Oak Bay! Burgers are good. A little pricier than some pubs.
I brought my parents here for a dinner. My mother found masking tape, that she chewed on in her French onion soup. The manager gave her meal for free. Not the rest. The manager didn’t bother with an apology until asked and had the poor waitress delivered the apology. 0 stars. Won’t return, when you charge $20 for a basic burger or soup, in covid times. These things don’t happen.
Long wait. 1 plus hours. A person I was with was given a burnt plate of nachos and upon asking the waiter, was told that some nachos were just darker than others and weren't infact burnt. We were given a free plate of nachos after that though (still a little burnt). Other than that, it was good food, especially the house burger.
Always nice to sit near the fire on a cold island evening, the fish and chips are pretty darn good too
Local favorite pub. Great food, good selection of beers. Robert Service beer, from Phillips Brewery, served on tap here! Service is quick, friendly. Pulled pork poutine is amazing! Cozy atmosphere. Recommend for a classic British pub experience.
Great ambiance, great food, very comfortable pub in Oak Bay. Gigi treated us well!
Food was great. Was super busy and our server warned us our food would be delayed. It was a bit loud for conversations but overall a nice unique pub!
Dropped in to have a drink on a Friday evening and the place was super busy. We were lucky to find a table with the help of our server. What stood out above anything was how great the service was. Sarah was super busy but never forgot about us and was on point. I will totally go back and have a meal just because of how great the service she provided. Sarah-33 did an amazing job managing her section.
If the Aussie bloke is behind the bar service is great and the music is spot on. As good as atmosphere gets in Oak Bay. Food is pricey even for Oak Bay.
Had lunch here with friends, beautiful cold beer on a sunny day! Food was great and tasty. I received a birthday gift. Would love to visit again and experience at night!
Simple breakfast, nothing overly fancy or unique. Good value, great patio
The best staff. Local knowledge. Clean kitchen. The food and drink was outstanding. It is so true u should get what u pay 4. Here u do. ????????
Picture a cheers atmosphere with a lot of friendly people that meet here every week. A spot for businessmen and professionals as well as locals. Lots of room and charming interior. All ages. Pretty good food. Great events. Always busy, and always worth the visit to this top notch restaurant.
Great atmosphere. Delicious food and decent selection of beers.
The nearest thing to and English Pub I've found in Victoria - if only the bleedin' awful TV screens weren't there it would be perfect. Good choice of beers, good food, attentive and friendly staff. What's not to love (apart from the constant sports coverage all over the walls)?
The Farthing is a wonderful local pub. Love to drink some tasty beers and walk home. Love. It.
What an atmosphere to drink a couple local Beer's and some really good food. Love the British style cuisine and beverages, the Shepherds Pie was amazing. The staff were layed back and very helpful, since it was our first time there. I ended …
An Oak Bay classic. Great beer selection and the food is much better than the average bar. If you are from out of town it's worth the drive to get here. It has very different vibe than the other pubs downtown.
Great atmosphere , a cozy place to eat and have a drink! I'll definitely visit this pub again on my next trip to Victoria.
Great environment for social gatherings! Very few gluten free items but seamless communication when allergies are stated.
Arrived at 6 pm for the Sunday prime rib feature. Server seemed confused and overwhelmed from the beginning. We ordered right away. 25 -30 minutes later (6:30 ish) the server returned to inform us that we could not have what we ordered because the kitchen ran out 20 minutes ago. She had waited 25minutes from ordering to submit the food order. She gave us menus, asked us to choose something else, then went to take food orders from the table of 12 that arrived after us. Needless to say, we left. I can’t be sure I’ll return again.
Great place, good food, really good beers. Ask for Grace, she will take care of you...A+++ server.
When I tried to pick up my burger ... Kinda turned me off...
Great atmosphere, good food and a selection of English/Irish beers.
A very British style pub - food was ok, beer was good, and service quick
Love you guys but lately the service has been really bad. I came in for a pint after work and waited for 15 minutes to see someone. 10+ minutes now for the machine after my bill...
Stingy portions of medium quality, high prices, questionable service. Sorry, there are so many other places to dine. Doubtful we'll be back.
A perfect afternoon beer, great selection, quality food. Try the crab bisque. Staff are super friendly every time.
Good local pub. have always had good food, beer and service here
Great little pub, good vibe here. It has your standard pub decor and a decent brew list. I would go back, the lamb burger was great, sides were mediocre but all in all great place.
Great beer selections, favored by locals and visitors alike. Solid pub fare, great service make this place a destination and a place to return to.
Excellent three course dinner during Dine Around - great location and ambiance!
Place was waaaaayyyy too loud. I asked for nachos and they gave me a huge plate of nachos a whole table could have eaten. The nachos were good though.
A person of color walks in and the server is only interested in interacting my white friend. It's 2022, wake up and train your staff properly. Not spending any of of my $$ at your establishment from here on.
Courteous service but extremely expensive and very little food for the money. There was a small amount of pulled short rib meat on my sandwich. I had ordered the gluten free bun which was smaller already. The meat did not fully cover the bun. The bacon and brie burger my partner ordered was reported to be very flavourful however the side salad that came with it, while tasty, was comprised of arugula leaves and 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half. This all fit in a small bowl. Overall a disappointing meal.
Pretty good food and great beverage selection. Took forever to get service on the weekend though.
Nice spot but expensive for fish and chips and a glass on wine.
Good food, we had the Shephards pie, they pull an excellent pint of Guinness a d the atmosphere is super friendly. It all starts with great servi r.
If you’re going to order drinks this seems like a good place but the food was a disappointment. Do not order the calamari unless you fancy chewing on rubber bands - it was dry and inclredibly overcooked. The staff was friendly and waitress was very helpful.
lovely atmosphere but the food just isn't that great...
Had a great dining experience in this restaurant for the first time. We ordered fish n chips and the Hamburger taste absolutely marvellous! Staffs are very accommodating, warm and friendly. Love the house brew beer. ❤️ Keep up the good and awesome service! Cheers! ????
The Ordinary that hangs from their ceiling was made by Jack Leonard, a friend and neighbour of my father's when they were children. Jack organized Penny Farthing races in the mid '70s that featured cash prizes. I was tall enough to ride one of Jack's 54" wheel PFs and finished second.
Try the black and tan. Guinness over Harp. Feels like Dublin
The atmosphere, is in my opinion, one of the best in Oak Bay. They have a few fireplaces which is really nice and the smell of burning wood brings you back to a simpler time. The service is hit and miss. I've had some times when the service was excellent and fast but other times when I had to wait over 5 minutes just for someone to acknowledge that I was there. Price are a little high.
Great ambience, food, and beer!
My family’s go-to! By far the best pub in the city with a great beer selection, incredible food and local talent. Service is always great and the atmosphere takes me back to Ireland. Love this place!
Good food and drinks selection. Barriers and space between tables added to an enjoyable evening. Service friendly and fast.
Regular for the 2for1 fish and chips on Monday. Busy place, food isn't too bad. Miss the sticky pudding but can't complain .
Absolutely fantastic service and atmosphere! The servers were friendly, attentive, and gave great suggestions. When I made a mistake and misread the menu (thinking the Shepperd's Pie was beef, not seeing it was lamb), they happily suggested they take it off my bill, and brought me something else! (Spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious!) Great atmosphere, well spaced tables, and an enjoyable time, even with a seven year old! We look forward to returning!
This pub is cozy and has the atmosphere of another era. I've enjoyed the live music and while there isn't really a dance floor, dancing does occur now and then.
The kitchen was understaffed that day so they gave us a menu with like 4 main entrees. Which we understand happens but the food was mediocre. The fish and chips were ok. The cold slaw was warm. the bread pudding was alright with the tiniest spoonful of ice cream. Overall it’s an ok restaurant but not something we dream about.
The cheese charcuterie platter was excellent, especially with some bubbly or a pint. Food might take longer than usual during peak hours. Edit: do not order the Messe plate. As cold and unappealing as my first wife.
Good food good staff and it's wheelchair accessible... However those big plants make it very narrow to get by with a wheelchair.
Great food and great service! They were flying busy - full - when we were there and all of the servers were still smiling. Great menu choices. My husband loved his Scotch Egg!
Unfortunately out of my top choice for beer, and the mushroom flatbread, while still really good, was not quite as good as it normally is. Will definitely go again. For science.
Great pub food, and a wide selection of beers and wines. More of the british pub vibe than a typical north american bar.
Delicious lb burger, seasoned well. Great service as always. Kiss menu has all the usuaals but the cheese pizza was better then most places.
English breakfast had beans straight from a can, and sad presentation. Weirdly unchill music. This place used to be excellent but not lately.
The food is good. The service could use a little work. The chicken burger came highly recommended but it was okey nothing amazing.
This pub is really kickin'! (Rugby was on the tv.) All jokes aside, this meal was a great experience. Good atmosphere, lovely servers and great food. I've been to the Penny Farthing a few times with different groups, and every time has been good. The dishes are good sharing sizes, and the louder it is, the merrier it gets (unless you don't like being in a loud pub, then I suggest to go somewhere else). My servers have been very kind, and have answered all of my silly questions about the menu, and little changes I needed for allergies and group preferences to make things better for us (Great service!). I hope that if you are reading this, you can have as great of an experience as I have for the visits I have made. Cheers, and happy dining.
Been here a couple times now. Great scotch eggs. ????. My go to place for them when in Victoria.
Food is great. Can get expensive though. Great atmosphere, mostly a mature crowd for a water. Family friendly enough.
Outdoor seating on a nice afternoon with the sun out, a cold Hoyne and some appys! Food, staff and setting all made for a perfect afternoon!
Best place for a pint and a chat in Oak Bay. Pretty much the best classic British Chips ( fries ) in town. Great friendly staff especially daytimes and always a beer special on tap. 2 for 1 Fish & Chips on Mondays.. Weekdays generally busiest times.
Amazing breakfast experience! The eggs Benedict is perfect, and the jam stuffed french toast is light and fluffy without being overly sweet. We sat at the patio and it was very nice! Great customer service as well - highly recommended for out of towners visiting Oak Bay area.
I was really impressed with the sheer size let alone quality of my crispy chicken burger that I ordered with half fries and half salad. The salad wasn't just greens with dressing and looked as if someone had put some thought into the presentation. The Chicken was HUGE and super crispy. My Mom got a veggi burger and was equally as pleased. Great spot!
Great atmosphere. Food was fresh, and the portions were large. Despite it being very busy, the food came within an acceptable time frame of ordering.
Staff was friendly and engaging. I had the Shepard's Pie for lunch - it was great and the salad was good too. My lunch partner had a burger - it looked fine, tasted fine, but was no Bin 4 burger unfortunately. If you're in Oak Bay, the Penny Farthing is worth a visit.
Great local pub. Food and service are solid
I ordered the expensive fish and chips. Very greasy and not cooked all the way through. I sent it back and next piece was darker but still the inside was cold and clear. I had to wait for chips as they did not leave them on the table. The beer was great and the waitress made it all OK. I am not sure I will hurry back.
Classic English pub, with a pretty good selection of beer. I prefer a better selection, but they have something for everyone. You go here for the location and atmosphere.
Selection is limited. Prices were more than I was expecting. Smoke was wafting in from smoking area right outside the front door. Food was fine.
Just had beer and sat in a nice cozy nook. Service was great and so was the beer.
Very cute Pub in Victoria check out the women's restroom it's pretty cool half of a hog is in the hall and the head of the hog is in the bathroom
This spot has had consistently good food for years. There is an impressive selection of beers and drinks and the decor is a big pull. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed and staff are efficient. You will pay a little more for all these points but it has been a draw for 2 plus decades.
food is just ok.. and don't come here if you plan on making any noise higher then an 80 year old.. if you do the regular customers will complain and management will allow you to quiet down.. I thought this was a pub not a church..
We loved The Penny Farthing! It was easily found using the HOHO (Hop On, Hop Off) tour. The Oak Bay stop is just a few blocks away. The staff was attentive. We found the decor interesting and charming. The food was excellent, easily able to accommodate my gluten free dietary needs. Our waitress new what was gluten free and what wasn't, without a hitch. They serve THE BEST lamb burger ever! I'd go again just for that. (I dug in right away, forgetting to take a photo, it was so amazing.) The drinks were good, as well--I opted for a smoky margarita. Yum! My husband's bangers and mash were delicious, too. Nice, dense, flavorful meat, served with perfect potatoes. If you're in Oak Bay, stop here for a delicious meal. If this is "pub grub," they've elevated it to a whole new level!
Great food and drink. Sheppard's pie, chicken burger, and salmon burger recommended. Good selection of local and import beers. Looking forward to the full menu post covid
The Penny Farthing is an absolutely delightful establishment. It is one of my girlfriends and myself's favorite lunch spots on our days out. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are always so kind and respectful of our needs.
What is wrong with you guys? I can here on recommendation. It's 2021 and you have No good vegetarian or Vegan options. The servers were not knowledgeable either.
Not many people in the pub. Took what felt like a real long time to get our food. Had to ask for my beer twice to get it. Server seemed to do the minimum to serve us, overall didn't feel real welcome. Chicken pot pie was real tasty, and so was the beer ... however it better be for the price they charge. Not a bad place....but there are much better you can go for the same price.
Comfortable and relaxing for either singals or a group setting, lots of room. The food is extremely good, price perhaps a little on the high side, servers are efficient and friendly. A recommended pub style restaurant.
My shrimp and avocado salad, with salmon on the side, was delicious and well presented - but $13 for a small glass of wine is excessive so I dropped a star.
Not bad, but unfortunately nothing special. Good service!
Christmas Eve dinner with family. Very good service and excellent food! Thank you!
I love coming here but the TVs (especially at the back section) are hideous. They are bright and no one watches them unless a big game is on. We spend enough time on screens so please turn them off and allow people to talk and not be distracted by the uncomfortable glare. We will drink and eat more if you do. Promise!
Enjoyed a nice evening here, the calamari was really good! It had peppers and artichokes I don't like spicy food but the calamari was not hot and the people in my group who did loved it. Options for my vegitarian Friend.
Our waitress was excellent & on a cold day it was nice & warm. Good atmosphere & standard pub fare.
Good service and atmosphere but I ordered the fish and chips and the fish batter was the saltiest thing I have ever tasted. Really gross. My friend had the shepherd pie and it tasted awesome but my meal was really inedible.
Great neighborhood pub. I've never had a bad snack, meal or pint, especially Guinness Stout.
Good food. Like most pub fare in Victoria it's good, fresh, local food. It's very tasty. Although just like anything in Victoria it can be rather expensive.
Got the Fish and Chips special. The food and service itself was very good, but to be honest, the price is on the higher end for other restaurants of similar or better quality. That being said, Penny Farthing has been a local landmark for so long, and it definitely deserves the local love!
My family and I definitely didn’t enjoy being there. The waitresses didn’t have a nice and friendly attitude at all!!!
Always a great place. O’Hara is a total sweetheart and looked after my friend and I so well without the awkward barrier between guest and server that you constantly find in Victoria
Group meal in separate room...well done...excellent dinner.
No, it's not the cheapest in the city. However, it is a proper pub. There is a reason we "regulars" always return. Whether you show up with a group of friends or by yourself at the bar, it's always enjoyable. The staff are all lovely, and make you feel right at home. If you want a pleasant atmosphere where you can unwind, have a laugh, and engage in conversations over beverages and food, I may see you there. PS Even if you don't usually like Brussel sprouts, try them for $5 after 9pm. Trust me.
Great atmosphere and great selection. The food is very tasty as well! I would definitely check this place out if you're in the area.
Service was good and friendly but we both had a chicken curry that was very dissapointing. Wasn't at all spicy and was warm at best. The waitress got us free deserts.
Loved the bright skylight room at the back! Great service and food too:) Very plentiful salad bowl was enough for lunch and more ..
I tried to book our 35 person rehearsal dinner with them. After weeks of no responses to our emails, we did finally get one. Hooray! But it was incredibly difficult to set up a time to meet or even a time to talk on the phone. We did finally connect with Sam, and we set up a time on friday afternoon to talk on the phone. Sam also said he'd email me my quote that day as well. I waited 45 minutes late at work for that call, but he never called. I also never received the email, but did receive promotional emails from the pub. Sam did call me to explain the next day. Apparently we was too busy to make the call. I'm not sure that's ever a professional response to no-showing on a phone meeting with a potential $3k+ event on the line, but I especially felt pretty offended by it. I also work in the industry, we also reopened fully in phase 3, and it is a lot of work. But I would never just not call someone at a pre-scheduled time, and then call them the next day telling them I was too busy. Do better. I will be hosting our dinner at another restaurant, and have advised my other friends getting married to do the same. This experience made me feel like my event was unimportant, and not worth your time.
Have been going sporadically for years, as we live very nearby. After tonight we won’t be back. I ordered the welshrarebit. It was good and came after a reasonable wait. I sar for a while as it got cold, the waitress told me to eat as there was something wrong with the printer and my husbands meal would be a while. I was finished eating when his meal came. It had taken no time to cook, as it was clam chowder and Caesar salad. The salad was not made with romaine! A very poor showing, we did not stay for dessert and coffee.
Always love this place ❤ great food, drinks and staff ????
great food , location and service
Great fish and chips
Food was not great and they didn't have cocktail mixes. The pub looks good though.
Good food, cool building and vibe, horrible service. Not enough staff on and the staff seem overworked. It took over thirty minutes to get our bill after we asked for it. Our table was without drinks or water for almost half an hour at one point despite trying to flag down the server (she was running around so overworked that she couldn't see us). Basically, it's an "English" version of Irish Times. Did I mention that the food is delicious?
Cool old style pub but food was pretty poor and the service was insanely slow. Took 15 minutes for someone to even come to our table.
The food is amazing and so is the service. The hostess went above and beyond when my sister inlaw realized she had left her cell at home with her vaxxpass on it and brought it up on her own phone
Sorry to say I have a little bit of a complaint. On the menu happy hour is between 3-6pm (it was 5.20) we ordered our drinks, the server came back to let us know happy hour is now till 5pm and had changed on the 15th Jan, and the old menu's were mixed with the new ones. Have just gone onto the penny farthing website the old menu is still advertised on there. I have always loved the service, food and wine selection at the penny farthing, but feel quite disappointed by this experience. Is there a new menu? Or did the staff just decide they didn't want to honour what's on the menu?
Had lunch there today. Good service by wait staff and host. Enjoyed the onion ???? soup. Gets busy around 1225 but that reflects its popularity amongst locals and tourists.
Beautiful outdoor patio, lovely food, and great waitstaff. Could not want anything more
I keep giving them yet another chance, since they're my neighbourhood pub, but the food is quite honestly consistently disappointing. This evening, for example, the $12 French onion soup was so salty as to be inedible. Drinks are fine and so is the service...but don't eat there.
Unique little pub right in Oak Bay. Has a wonderful feel and vibe. The food is always great and service is promopt. Also they have a very well stocked bar with an enormous liquor selection.
This is my 4th time to this pub and I love their foods. The Shepherd Pie was of a big portion. Like other Vancouver pubs in mid-June they ran out of Guinness too, but EUFA was on and I watched Italy won over the Swiss. Service is excellent as I am receiving smiles from the servers. I will be back next time I hop over to Victoria from Vancouver. Nov 16, 2021 visit: Salmon Burger tasted good and healthy.
Ridiculously expensive. Probably the most expensive pub in Victoria. It's only a neighborhood pub for old, wealthy people. It is definitely not a place that younger, non-wealthy people would ever go. It's too bad because the area needs a pub. Sadly, this one is useless.
Everything is a bit overpriced, but it's Oak Bay, so not unexpected. Excellent service and a good selection of beverages.
Our hosts recommended this English pub. It was early in the afternoon but the place was busy with locals. Very friendly service and a fun place to visit. We only had drinks but the food looked good. They share the same kitchen as the vis-à-vis.
Great looking pub so very excited to have lunch. My wife and I ordered the cheese board/charqutery as we were quite hungry only to find it had only two small pieces of cheese and very little mea . Feeling very ripped off to be honest. We also mentioned to the staff that our sons food was not that great only to be met with a smile, a giggle and the bill. This place will do ok as it is a tourist trap but glad it's not my loca .
Great British pub feel and ambiance. The food was good, I had the shepard's pie and thought it very tasty. My Mom really enjoyed the muscles, she said the sauce was amazing. Will definitely come back next t time we are in Victoria
Great location, downtown Oak Bay. A British pub with a great menu and wonderful staff
It's hard to give this place 5 stars due to previous experience with very hit and miss service which has ranged from very good to abominably awful. Today however was excellent. I wish I got the name of the server working with me today because she was exemplary. Anyway, this place always has an excellent selection of very good beers and fine food by pub standards. If the service remains this good after my next few visits I will revise this with 5 stars.
Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. The calamari was really good! Light and crispy batter. The jalapenos and artichoke was a nice touch as well on the calamari!
An excellent "British Style" pub! Having visited London and the UK over 79 times, I loved the ambience and "STYLE" of this restaurant pub. We had a "special beer" as well as excellent cider [both served in one pint glasses with the name of the brewer [attention to details is clear everywhere one looks! Our server, Gareth, (a Welshman) was very knowledgeable, helpful as well as "professional". The menu caters to all tastes including vegetarians, soup lovers, fish and chip "afficianados", steak and "Pot Pie" lovers. There are many "nooks and crannies" providing a much more intimate environment-- even when watching a sporting event! Its definitely worthy of repeated visits! I hope that this Review has been helpful.
Delicious ceasar salad, onion soup was a little heavy on the bread, but they made it right by providing more broth. Good service, decent price.
Great pub, great atmosphere, great food, great staff - Janice is fantastic! Oh and prices are fine and normal.
We went here for a meal last night. I have been before and I wasn’t so disappointed, but last night was particularly awful. It took over hour to get our food, and I watched 3 tables leave before we got our meals. When it was brought to us only 3 of 4 plates were brought- making my mother in-law wait an extra 5 mins for her food. It is rude to only serve part of the table at once, and when I inquired where her food was “it’s just downstairs”. Well then go get it? Our waitress didn’t seem to care about us or any of the other tables around us. “Something” happened with their reservation system and we ended up being squished into an area that a larger party should have had all to themselves. Uncomfortable and awkward. The food was mediocre- and I’m being generous, especially given the prices. My veggie burger was burnt & the “Parmesan frites” looked like McDonalds French fries with some spices- for 4$ extra?! The only thing that was good was the beer, but it wasn’t good enough to fix the sour taste in my mouth over the whole experience. Will never be coming back.
I love this pub. Good vibes, good food, and nice waitresses. I had the crispy chicken burger this weekend. Recommended!
Very disappointed that staff does NOT wear face masks. The numbers for Covid 19 infections are rising on the island.Unfortunately safety is not a priority for their customers.
Awesome shepherd's pie and French onion soup. Will definitely be returning
Always good for a drink and catching up with friends. A bit noisy at times, and not the cheapest beer. But it is the only show in town, and it does it well. Daily specials and live music on a regular basis. Usually Friday night.
Good comfort food and service.
Went for lunch, had the grilled vegetable sandwich and crab bisque. Both we absolutely delicious! Service was great, cozy pub feel. Highly recommend!
A pub straight out of the Edwardian era as promised. Great Staff, Delicious food and an amazing list of wobbly pops. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone and everyone!
The house burger is arguably the best burger I've ever had. The entire atmosphere is perfectly Irish. A gem in a quiet neighborhood
Over priced. Not a lot of options for people with dietary restrictions. *edit Thank you for your response. What mains do you offer that are vegan? The server recommended the salad which, in general, is not very creative or filling.
Loved it. Music was just right. Sat inside to a nice booth for three. Food was excellent we thought. I had crab bisque soup and oysters half shell. I’d skip the oysters next time but they were good. Need some hot sauce for them. My wife had bangers n mash and my daughter had shepherds pie. Both excellent. Great ambiance and the service we thought really good. Thanks.
Good vibe, service can be a little slow but overall a nice experience. Good food, good drink selection, knowledgeable staff
Service was pleasant. Had the fish and chips, the fish was of a normal helping 2 pieces and cooked very nicely the fries were ample and of high quality.
Always a great dining experience. Good food and service.
Good reasonable priced food
Love this place! It's got a great cozy pub feel. Real great selection of adult beverages and a really good food menu! The garden burger on the pretzel bun is delicious!
Brutal from start to finish. Extremely loud (understandable) but it took literally over an hour to get our food and only had one drink refill during this time. Then once we got our food they screwed up our order and the food that we did get was not very good besides the chicken burger.
The five stars are for the best burger I've ever had.
Great food (love the steak frites) great people. Best pub in oak bay.
We are so please with the service and quality from Penny Farthing! They are truly a 5 star restaurant and you can tell by the intent and quality they put into their food and service!
Cool patio. Friendly service. Forgot an item from our order. Wanted to like it but the menu wasn’t that enticing to me and the food we got wasn’t great I would come for a beer and to sit in the sun but not for the food. Tuna in the salad tasted a bit off.
Great food, busy as hell of a Saturday night but managed to get table for 5 excellent service
Beautiful old pub, the food and service were also wonderful. Will definitely return.
Had a great time. Good selection of beer on tap, the food was good except for the salad. A garden salad should have more variety than just lettuce imho.
Awesome food, great service ????????
The Penny is dangerously close to where I live and I find myself here (fairly) often. They continue to deliver a top notch experience every single time - I’ve never had a negative interaction in 3+ years of visiting. Always fun, always good drinks, the food is great. Sure they have increased their prices like everywhere, but along with that you get an extremely consistent pub experience that you can rely on. Hats off to you Penny crew!
The Penny Farthing Pub in Victoria, BC is a very nice pub in a small section of Victoria. The furnishings have been imported from Britain, and the atmosphere is very authentic. Our group of 11 ordered lunch from the extensive menu of traditional pub food and libations. We all has great time and can highly recommend a visit.
They hire college kids as bartenders who don’t know how to make drinks. I asked for a scotch on the rocks, and the girl asked me ‘how many rocks’ go in a scotch on the rocks. My partner asked for an old fashioned and they didn’t know what that was. Nice staff though, who try hard. Ok for beer and wine, that’s about it.
Nice cold beers and the bartenders were great friendly and good at there job.
Humming. Very busy despite our arriving extra early on a Friday night. Good grub and a fine selection of ales from the British Isles. ????
We really really really loved Sarah. Does she own the pub? I certainly felt like I was in her living room.
Good meal with family, fish and chip special was tasty. Chicken pot pie was fantastic.
It was ok, service was friendly but VERY slow! Food was ok - we had the shepherd's pie and a veggie burger... good atmosphere...
Food was ok. But nothing special. Lovely space and attentive staff though!
Bad service, we sat for 45 mins waiting for a plough man's lunch and an English breakfast, then the manager came out with a bad attitude trying to give it the big one saying it's all made fresh, I can cook that order at home 20 mins max so dont patronize me, bad waitress too.
Great service, amazing atmosphere and great food.
Is good place to hangout if you just order a drink with friends or in a date because of the good environment, but refrain from ordering food as it wasn't very good. The burger was almost the size of an slider and the flavor of their poutine was flat( they certainly forgot to salt the fries) their side "salad" is just butter lettuce and olive oil. On the overall food was just at most. The staff didn't seemed very qualified either. Often they would loose track of which table order what, and they would bounce from table to table asking who order what (this happen like 5 times in less than an hour). I'm a person with really low standards when comes to food. But whe a place cannot cook proper poutine (the most basic pub food) then you now their food it isn't that good.
A good pub with good pub food. It shares the kitchen with the restaurant next door so some higher end (and higher priced) items on the menu.
My wife, grandson and I had lunch at the rear of premises which allows persons under 19yrs. Ceaser salads were good as was Butter chicken. Attentive staff, decent value for money.
