Machi Sushi advertises a 4.6 Google review and I was quite disappointed. Maybe it was an off night, but the service was suprisingly slow, the drinks ordered came later than expected (even tea and water), and we didn't even get our third water we asked for. The food was over priced and disappointing. Not to mention waiting for service even after the restaurant died down, I was left feeling rather unhappy and misled.

Changing my review from 3-5 stars after giving this spot another chance. Though we arrived when the restaurant was supposed to be closed for dinner preparations, the chef let us in (without us asking) for lunch and it was amazing! Fresh fish, perfectly cooked rice, and the staff were lovely. New favourite place in Oak Bay!

Excellent food and superb service experience from our last night dinner @ Machi Sushi with my family. I am a picky one and hard to please customer but we had a great ist time experience here. We ordered caterpillar, rock n roll and willows rolls and harmony for two and some appys and sides. I truly enjoyed everything! Hats off to chef Andy and his team. Thank you!

This is our first time to visit but definitely love this place. This is the best sushi we ever had in Victoria. We camec on a fairly busy Friday night and didn't make a reservation but the staffs are super friendly and attentive. They acted quickly to clean up a table for us and took our order. The food came timely. We tried the cadboro bay roll which recommend by our server, it's amazing, the sushi rice is done perfectly and the prawn tempura inside still so hot and crunchy. The gyoza is 100 score too. It's been nicely cook and very juicy inside. Most of the sushi place just deep fried the dumplings, but Machi sushi is perfectly make it with pan fried. And they also use local wild salmon and real crab meet, so quality worths every penny we spent here. And they do take out as well which is good for our family occassion too. We'll be stuck in this sushi restaurant and highly recommended.

Very nice. My gyoza was perfection and my sushi roll was also quite nice, while my yaki udon was okay. Tamago was very cold but delish and tea was warmed up numerous times. Great service as we had the place to ourselves. Pretty little place and clean. EDIT TO ADD: Have now been a few more times, including when very crowded - the sushi rolls are very nice. I've had several bowls now - perhaps not fair to assess as they don't seem to be my fav. Friendly service another strength.

I made a reservation for dinner. The restaurant did not honor it. I arrived 5 mins early and they acknowledged my reservation and nonetheless they kept giving tables to other people and kept telling us 5 minutes more, 15 mins later we left while there were empty tables.Very disappointed.

Local and a small business, but this business is bustling. Good food at a very reasonable price. I recommend, but the parking lot is quite small, so I suggest either walk or bus or take a bike. Non formal wear to business casual is appropriate. The take out is great (phone before hand and then pickup and pay is the best way in my opinion). Cheers.

Great food and atmosphere here. My favourites are the cadboro bay roll and beef teriyaki don. Fish is always fresh. It's a nice place for dates or special occasions. Best to make a reservation though! Servers are very nice and really kids friendly.

Rice was overcooked, and the service was pretty much nonexistent. Charged us $2 for tea that the refilled once in the 1.5 hrs we were there. The mackerel was good, and so were the octopus balls, everything else meh.

Ill be honest..the sushi tasted and looked like the sushi u buy at the grocery store only for double the price. The rolls are on the smaller side and doesnt wow u in any way. Im actually surprised this place got such high reviews but i guess those people have no idea wat authentic sushi taste like. Would not recommend.

This place is hands down the best sushi restaurant in the city, the service is great and everyone is very friendly. The chef rolls are all amazing, I personally recommend the caterpillar and Machi rolls. If you're lucky they have a complimentary dessert when it's not too busy, a deep fried cube of coconut milk called miruku (sp?). Recommend to everyone, do yourself a favor and eat Machi ????

One of my absolute favourite places to go. The sushi pizza is phenomenal and so are the sushi rolls. You can tell that the quality is there. The chef and all of the servers are always kind and they make sure to greet everyone with warmth. I will always recommend this place to anyone.

I am not usually the type of person to give one star... but my experience was bad. It could have possibly been the night, but our service was incredibly slow, which doesn't usually bother me, but the food was not that good, and was incredibly expensive. My gyoza was fairly good, but also over priced for four. Overall, it was expensive, a rushed atmosphere, and our food was okay. We also ordered a drink that didn't come. We were there for nearly 2 hours and it took us around 20 minutes to eat. We will likely not be back.

Amazing sushi rolls but was not impressed with the don buri serving size...or presentation considering the price... i wish i took a picture of it opposed to other sushi places that charge less with better presentation larger portion sizes and actually serve vegetables with it.
