Unbelievably good German food! A super cute and homey joint. The fish is soooooo juicy and fatty; the schnitzel is the bomb - super tender and the flavour of everything is perfect. Their cakes are also unbelievably delicious. Thank you chef for an unforgettable meal!

Hey there, 1 month in Yellowknife and the first time Elke's Table ... As some germans, who camed to YK to work and known for their criticism, we have to highly recommend this place! Its small but nice. The first time I entered the door it exactly smelled like a typical german restaurant. We both had to try the Schnitzel for sure. We consider it as very good. Even though we are wide up north in Canada the Schnitzel was really good. Maybe better then some from Germany. We will probably never know because we can hardly compare it. Long text but the answer is sure. This place is recommended to everybody out there!

I hardly give a full 5 stars, but this place is amazing. The food is so good. The location is easy to find and the host was so very nice and did a great job catering seeing as she was the only one there doing it all. You can sit either indoors or outdoors and both are decorated uniquely with a great vibe. The food is a German-Mediterranean cuisine and it's proportions are an excellent size. I highly recommend it if you are in Yellowknife.

If you are going to Yellowknife call ahead to tell Elke that you will be at her restaurant and that you want to try her amazing German cakes. I'm serious, call a few days ahead of time at least - you'll be very disappointed if you miss them. This is a really fun restaurant, like so many businesses in Yellowknife it is within the family home. The vibe here is fantastic and the lady who runs the place is full of character. Great food and wonderful Yellowknife charm.

30 steps away from Explorer Hotel. Enticed by the giant yellow sign for "Coffee and Fresh Baked Goods" so I stopped in to check it out. I will be back! Staff/Owner was very nice.

Went for lunch here after seeing good reviews. It seems to be hit and miss. One of our party got the fish chowder and loved it. Generous amounts of fish, very tasty and a meal sized bowl. However, the other two diners got the fish and chips and were very disappointed. The fish had twice as much batter as it needed, and was cooked twice as long as it should have been. When it came out, the piece of fish looked to be enormous - bigger than the plate - but once you cut into it, it's clear that most of the size is the breading and air. The fish itself is small and thin, dry and nearly tasteless. Any taste it did have was overpowered by the almost burnt exterior. Next time we'll try it pan fried.

Authentic German food, made by a German lady named Elke. You want a great treat try the potatoe salad it is out of this world. It is a must if you are in Yellowknife. If I could give Elke's 6 out of 5 stars I would. I visit this wonderful little family-run restaurant every time I come to Yellowknife on business and and on all occasions, the food and service has been exceptional. The fish is deep fried to perfection but it is the Schnitzel that is sublime..... If you ask nice and call ahead you might even be able to get it with spaetzle (traditional German dumpling).

Generous portions of delicious food! The owner and staff are friendly and personable. The meal was well-cooked; the meat was moist and seasoned well. Lots of tzatziki for the meat and large portions of fries and salad alongside the main. Prices are reasonable considering the amount of food! Definitely worth a trip! :)

Everything is homemade from the dips to the bread and including the schnitzel. Their local whitefish is the best in Yellowknife and the portion size reminds you of how big the fish get here. I highly recommend especially if you are hungry!

The host is a warm German lady, when I struggling what should I have, she recommends the German dish schnitzel, and the outcome is incredibly wonderful, the texture of the meat is crunchy and the sauce is full of the aroma of garlic and dew(? We made a reservation for 6pm and had good food and good service before it became completely full. We had the special fish platter, fish chowder, and the pickerel. That was the best fish, tender, fresh and tasty.

It's a very small room, so seating is limited and you'll need to be in the mood for a cozy atmosphere. Our server was very nice, and the food came out quickly. Come hungry! The portions border on ludicrous, especially the battered whitefish which is magnificent. It was beautifully fried, and enough food for two people. The schnitzel was also very nice.

It's all homemade, our lunch was good. Soup was a huge bowl of homemade chicken noodle. Weinerschnitzle was also good. Our food came with dinner rolls and butter. It serves non alcoholic beer here, and for this I give it an extra star. Super important to have choices like thos in a.town with such bad problem with alcohol.

1. A traveller of Asian descent told the restaurant owner that he was born in Australia. The restaurant owner said, “oh, I wonder why”. 2. Food is mediocre, yet super expensive: more than what it would cost in a big city. The fish looks big when it comes on the table, but most of it is just air and hollow oily batter. 3. The owner will remind you that the bill does not include tips and that you should tip 15% percent. I suggest prepare cash or coins for tips. 4. The waitress appeared to be in a dreamy state. We had to ask repeatedly for water, but there were only two other tables who were already eating. We never got any water until the food was already on the table. Not sure if water costed us any money like the other comment says. 5. Heavy smoke in the entire restaurant. You will come into a smokey restaurant and leave smelling like cooking. Not pleasant. My eyes are very sensitive, and they were irritated the whole time while I was in there.

(Translated) There's a name on the menu, but less than three of the main menus took over 40 minutes to come out. Schnitzel was not crispy at all and so was fish. Simple'm ningning whole. It's a small shop that doesn't have any ventilation, and it smells like oil all over your body. Tip requires 15%. (Original) 메뉴판에 이름은 있지만 메인메뉴중에 3가지나 안됐고 음식 나오는데 40분 넘게 걸렸어요. 슈니첼은 전혀 바삭하지 않았고 생선요리도 마찬가지였어요. 간이 전체적으로 닝닝해요. 작은 가게인데 환기가 전혀 안되서 온몸에 기름냄새가 뱁니다. 팁은 15프로를 요구합니다.

Definitely 5 star. The best schnitzel and gyros you can find. The fish and chips cant be beat made from locally caught fresh fish. The fries are like mom used to make. I still have a few things to try. Can't wait.

The food was ok, fresh fries. Very small Size of snitzel, nothing to compare with Germany. JãgerSnitzel was serve with canned mushrooms and Romain salad. Table was sticky, got charged almost 3$ per juice box (kids) I have never seen/got served snitzel with tatziki... disappointed. Waitress was also cooking, feel bad for her being "alone"

Had the greatest food ever in Yellowknife! Ate the slow roasted lamb with potato salad which was to die for. My partner had the fish platters with the different types of fish, pan fried. Everything was excellent, and so was the homemade German strawberry rhubarb cake with a scoop of ice cream by the side! Was definitely worth the stay! I’ll be back!

Arrived for a late dinner while in transit in Yellowknife for work. Thankfully, Elke stayed open without any questions/comments. I had the pickerel which was absolutely wonderful. It was a large piece too (extends under the fries in this pic). The restaurant was also charming as was Elke and colleague. A bit pricey but worth it. I'll try he schnitzel next time. :)

Terrible food. The fish is not fresh and coated with thick flour. The pork is over-cooked. Too greasy, food and atomophere. A small room, with kichten together, no ventilate . You should have your lunch with strong cooking smell. Even the tape water is charged, $1.5 per person. It's the only place I seen in Canada.

Everything just perfect. A good server and great food. You just can't skip this great dinning place if you stay in Nova or The Explorer. Love the Trout and fries, also the juicy pork in German style. Due to it is a relative small dinning place with 1x seats, suggest you call and ask before you go to there.
