We made a reservation for tonight and the host that sat us was so rude. It was loud in the restaurant, so I asked the waitor to repeat the water options. He looked at me like I had 8 eyes. We just walked out and took our business elsewhere. Stuck up snobs.

Just had a wonderful lunch here. The Pappardelle Short Rib Ragu is so wonderfully fresh, tasty, fulfilling and super flavourful. Our server was attentive along with our table runner and the antipasti are the perfect size: not too small that you question the price not too big that it spoils your appetite. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable as well: great wine recommendation and very patient with our questions. My only regret is that I was so full I didn't get a chance to try their tiramisu! Looking forward to coming back!

Pizza was outstanding, veal ok, really hot under the tent. I asked our server to open a panel of the tent and he refused. Another young fella was delivering food and when asked to open the tent panel did it immediately and with a smile. I wish the tip went to him instead of our waiter. Overall really great ????

Branzino was overcooked and steak was burnt. Apps were alright. Service was very slow, and the rain poured all over the back of my chair. Nothing was done to address this. Bill was given to us without us asking for it, we still hadn't ordered dessert. There was certainly a bit of chaos at this restaurant.

Winterlicious Menu. I had the Arugula Salad, Chimichurri Steak and Peanut-butter and Chocolate tart. My sister had the Golden Beet Caprese, Seared Salmon Trout, with Quinoa and Root Vegetables. My other sister also had the Golden Beet Caprese, Chimichurri Steak and Passion Fruit Tart. Our waiter had the difficult job of selecting a bottle of white wine to accommodate a salmon and two steak mains, which he was able to do to the satisfaction of all. The plates looked and tasted amazing. My knife went through the steak like butter. Everything I was served was delicious. The service was even better. Always wanted to try this restaurant and glad for the chance. Can't wait to go back. Thanks to my sisters for a wonderful evening.

Among the very best Italian food I have ever had. I came with family for my birthday and truly everything was delicious. Service was prompt after waiting 30 minutes after reservation time... We were a large group, I understand it happens sometimes. The experience was so excellent that I'm not even mad. Highlight: 72 hr sous vide beef short ribs was worth killing for.

Was super impressed with the Paese patio - and new bowls. This restaurant has gone above and beyond to do their outside area during COVID. Service was excellent and their new “bowls” are a lovely addition (even though they aren’t Italian). The Pop bowl (Korean) was spectacular!! Can’t wait to try the restaurant again.

I love Paese and yes, it is off the beaten track but then again many wicked places are hidden gems and this is one. The wine cellar is one of the best the city has to offer and the passion of the chefs excels. I have always had great attentive service. In the photos below are some of the great eats that I have had but the menu is always changing with the seasons. Positively Italian with a love for Ontario products. One of my loves is the huge emphasis they put on accommodating Vegans, Vegetarians and Gluten Free peeps with top of line menu experiences. I am so addicted to the zucchini ribbon pasta with vegan Bolognese. They can’t get this off the menu. Desserts are killer I just ate mine too fast to snap a photo. Next time, here’s hoping. Overall I am usually a fan of this place but I was a bit disappointed with the way they handled my takeout order. I ordered the beef pappardelle and got spaghetti instead. If a restaurant is short an item or ingredient they would usually warn you or remove the item from the menu. The manager I spoke with had no apology to offer and didn't seem to care that they were deceiving a customer via uber eats. If you ever want to order pasta as takeout beware.

I cannot recommend this place enough when you’re looking to treat yourself, or create a special take out experience with a friend. The food is fresh and made by hand. The flavours are classic and on point. Take tour first bite and you know you made the right call. Special extra bonus at pickup, Impulse buy some of local business’ salt chocolate that PAESE features by the front counter. You can thank me later.

Awful service. We waited about an hour for the order. I got a half-baked dish, all not tasty. And expensive. In short, instead of $250 it was supposed to cost a maximum of $50!!! We will never go again!

We went to this patio and everything was fine until I found a hair in the cheese on my pasta. The waitress was really rude and claimed she couldn't see it even though it was right there. She literally said " I can't see it but I'm sorry you feel that way " after I pointed it out to her. She was blaming it on her eyesight but she was literally wearing glasses. Now I've only sent something back once before and I'm glad I did because it showed their true colors. Suffice it to say that I was absolutely disgusted with the service after that and they ruined my night. The waiters were rude and giving me dirty looks for the rest of the evening. I was still being polite and they did not even respond to me. They were acting like I wasn't there. I understand that accidents happen sometimes but that is absolutely no way to treat a customer. I will definitely not be returning, not sure how these people are still in business. Cherry on top was that she was pointing at the tip when she gave us the bill ????‍♀️

Had an awesome meal here on a quiet weeknight. We sample a number of appetizers including octopus, burata, and fried mushrooms. All were excellent. For mains we ordered a gnocchi, seafood pasta, calf liver, mushroom pizza, and a fish entree. Everyone loved their food. Finished off with a few desserts. The waiter was super friendly and attentive. He even got a special drink made for the kids. This was our first time here, but it will certainly not be the last. We left quiet satisfied with the service and the great food.

Sincerely some of the best veggies I have had in a while! Highly recommend their very colourful cauliflower steak. Thought their pizza was solid, but would much quicker come from some veggies or their miami ribs and a bottle of wine. Surprised it took me so long to check this place out. Not only do they have one of the largest wine cellars in the city, but their mark up isn't nearly as high as basically every where else.

Sitting in the exceptionally comfortable outdoor dining facility and I say facility because its way better than an ordinary patio, it's hard to watch the toll the labour shortage is having on good restaurants. Everyone seems overworked and stretched to their limit, and deserve gratitude...Paese is really good and has a menu that can accomodate everyone, including vegetarians and those with allergies and sensitivities. Good in every way. Easy to enjoy and worth a family/ friends evening or many.

The ice tea and the margarita pizza were really nice. Bread and the olive oil for appetisers is a nice touch. Good ambiance but don't add turkey to the sauce on the pasta..it's better without it. Used open table for the reservation I believe. Apple Pie / Ice Cream dessert was also pretty good. Food can always be better. I think a little more refinement to the dishes will go a long way.

Positive: good service. Negative: my friend found a big bug with wings in her calamari. I wish she showed it to me before she sent it back - I would've taken picture. Oh well, you have to believe me. She said it was a bloody big bug with wings. Probably not a cockroach but disgusting anyway. She canceled the rest of the order and left. I am not coming back- there are plenty better options available.

The dining room is comfortable. The service is good and the food is tasty. This is an Italian restaurant. I ate a creative special salad that was very fresh. The pizza comes in individual servings the size of a big dinner plate. The pizza was very good and it was bigger than I could finish. The staff are friendly.

I have taken down my initial review as I was blown away by the phone call I just received from the Owner. He called to apologize for the way I was treated on the phone while trying to make a reservation. It is a breathe of fresh air when the owner of a company, takes the time to reach out to a customer PERSONALLY to apologize for his or her staff's behavior. I will return to Paese for a meal in the near future. Other businesses can learn customer service from him!!

And if you also like hearty Italian cooking, Paese has also got you covered – just fresh ingredients presented simply and without fuss. Their creamy buratta ($23) arrives on top of a bed of vibrant ripe tomatoes that make a great salad. The pool of olive oil is jazzed up a bit of pesto and is really all the flavouring the appetizer needs. When having meatballs as a starter, I want them nice and large. The size of tennis balls, the menu describes polpette di manzo ($16) as being made from ground beef, but it’s surprisingly delicate for beef. Sitting in a lovely tomato sauce, it pairs so nicely with the complimentary salty oily focaccia. I had doubts when I first laid eyes on the thick crust on the parmigiana ($22) pizza – did I make the wrong choice? The crust is deceiving as once I bit into it, it is surprisingly light and airy, and nicely toasted on the bottom. This main combines my love for eggplant parmigiana and pizza and Paese doesn’t skimp on eggplant or cheese. While they augment flavours with basil, chili, and oregano; I would have liked more salt to seep into the neutral eggplant and dough as the tomato sauce isn’t applied as liberally, rightfully so, on the pizza versus the traditional dish. Overall, Paese makes some good sauce – not too acidic and fresh tasting. Interestingly, their bolognese di tacchino ($25) incorporates turkey instead of the traditional beef, pork, and/or pancetta mixture, which makes it taste lighter. So even though it arrives as a huge plate, the men at our table were able to get through the entire dish. This would have been even better if there was some chili sauce thrown into the mix.

A really unprofessional establishment. I made reservations a week in advance for 2:30 p.m. on Friday January 25. When I called to confirm my reservation at 2 p.m. before heading over the the restaurant, they told me that I did not have a reservation in their system and that the kitchen would be closed. The man on the phone was extremely rude and not apologetic. Perhaps they should not be offering reservations at a time slot that is not feasible for the restaurant to maintain.

This is the type of home style cooking I could eat weekly. There arent a lot of restos I can say this about. We went 2 weeks ago and waited for our RSVP to open up and I asked if we could get a Peroni and chardonnay as we waited just in front. The answer was a quick "YES - with a smile" and the drinks came and we drank happily as we waited for our table. Then we went back a few days later. Its this type of experience that keeps me coming back to this place. And will continue to do so. Its the little details that are memorable. The food is amazing! Well worth the wait:)

We tried the patio BBQ which is open Mon-Fri and had the rib steak sandwich. It was fantastic! The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. The bread was soft and light. Lots of hand sanitizer and space for social distancing. Great patio and food! I highly recommend it.

This review is based on booking the restaurant for group parties/events... Pros: - food is good - the private room upstairs is really private so you won't hear a lot of noise from the crowd in the restaurant and vice versa - they have parking and also street parking is available - service was good. Drinks are always filled. Cons: - for any group of more than 40 people for a sit down dinner educational event, i think, the place is too small especially when doing presentations. There were a couple of tables that are separated from the main room so during a presentation it was a bit challenging to reach all the crowd. - the servers do not seem to communicate with each other. Our table asked for to go desserts and another server came with a plated dessert and told us the desserts were already plated which is fine but our main server came a minute later with our to go desserts and told us "i thought you want your dessert to go" .. of course if it was already plated i wouldnt want the server to go back and to get it to go so i accepted the plated dessert.. the servers were really nice and accomodating.. it is just that one server who seem a little overwhelmed and started passing plated desserts around and not giving other people options to take their dessert to go.. he was still professional and polite but i think having a server responsible to a specific table or tables is ideal in this case due to the fact that yes they are helping each other but they weren't communicating with each other.. I still recommend the restaurant if you have a group of less than 40 or if it is not a sit down dinner event... based on the review from my colleagues the kale salad was so so.. and taste "healthy" i mean it is kale salad... I had the meatball for my appetizer it was delicious... my other colleague had the mushroom soup and it was really good as well... For the entree, the black cod was exceptional. It was cooked really well. My short ribs was also good. The desserts are good as well... no complaints about the food.

Paese is one of the best restaurants in Toronto. It has the ideal combination of being "high-end" and a place for families to dine. While at Paese I have had the gnocci and sweet potato ravioli. Both are outstanding choices for anybody. So far, hands down my favourite entre is the funghi pizza. This might be the best pizza that I've ever had. From the service to the sourdough focaccia and Ceasar salad, the entres and then topping the experience off with cookies, Paese checks every box and knocks it out of the park every time. Well done!

A year ago, we met the owner Tony, Sal, and the team to discuss catering our wedding in under three weeks. Tony was highly professional and hands-down one of the best caterers in the city. The food was excellent, and to this day, our guests still can't over how exquisite everything tasted. Tony and the team are highly detail-oriented, organized and honest. On my first anniversary, Tony recreated our exact dinner at PAESA, an extraordinary moment for my wife and me. This place is one of the best places to dine, with fantastic service, great ambiance and phenomenal food. Thank you again, Tony, Sal and the team!

Came here for lunch on their patio and had a great experience. Reserved online so getting a table was easy. The patio was super cute albeit hot as there were no fans around. Our server was amazing. He was super courteous and replenished our water like a champ. It’s like he had level sensors on our cups and knew exactly when to fill our water. The food was tasty and I liked how they had a more affordable lunch menu. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars rather than 5 was because I wish they had a bit more menu options.

We sat in a very nicely done makeshift patio(due to COVID-19 restrictions) out in front of the restaurant where it would have been parking but in this case you can barely tell. Service was great and the food was delicious! I had the potato and kale gnocchi and funghi pizza... both were amazing! If you like mushrooms... you have to try this pizza! I will definitely be back for more!

We booked out Paese's large beautiful patio for our covid-safe wedding dinner with 40 guests and could not have been happier! They were very friendly and helpful over email and phone correspondence during the planning process in the months preceding our big day and were very patient even when we needed to change our date a few weeks before. They helped us arrange a custom menu for our wedding and all the food was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious! All of our guests raved to us about how great the food was at the end of the night. The servers were friendly and brought each course out quickly and kept the drinks flowing, also coming around often to refill water. The Owner Tony, Restaurant Manager Sal and our server even took care of me when the 38 degree heat and exhaustion of our wedding day caught up with me at dinner, and let me rest inside for a while, offering me Gatorade, a cold towel for my neck and did their absolute best to help this exhausted bride feel better. I really couldn't be happier or more grateful for what a wonderful experience Paese provided for our wedding dinner and for all they did to take care of us! We can't wait to celebrate many future anniversaries with them.

What a great restaurant! My husband and I came here for dinner and enjoyed their kale salad as well as a Margherita pizza! It came out so quickly and it was delicious! The pizza crust was perfect! We finished with the peanut butter tart for dessert which was really easy to eat????. I forgot to mention that I had an Amaretto Sour which was made just right!

Worst experience the first time. Unprofessional staff. I was their ahead of time and the staff said they don’t know how long will it take to fulfill the reservation. I don’t understand the point of having an online reservation platform when you can’t fulfill it or can’t even provide guidance.

I had an extremely dissapointing experience at Paese last night. Our server was incredibly enthusiastic to start, however, when my party of 7 declined ordering any alcoholic beverages, her attitude started to change. She became abrasive, verging on obnoxious. This is where the disappointment began! We were there to celebrate a family members birthday, and we were shown such disrespect we will never return. The attitude towards us was that we were dumb, as a party, for having questions about the menu. When asking about alternative food options for a family member with dietary restrictions, we were looked down upon. Our food was mediocre. We expected more flavour and larger positions considering the amount of money the food costs. The pasta with shrimp was literally just noodles and 4 shrimp. No seasoning. All of the mains do not come with a side. So after spending $30 on a fish, you expect me to pay $8 more for a side of potatoes smaller than 3 spoonfuls. I ordered meatballs as my main and the server made me extremely uncomfortable, exclaiming, “here are your balls,” very loudly upon their arrival. My side came out before my meatballs and by the time the meatballs arrived, my side was cold. One server even put his finger into soup as he brought it to the table! Disgusting. We brought our own cake, and the server of course was sassy exclaiming that of course we finished the cake that we brought because it was free. A horrible experience, and we will never return.

The Burrata was served with Tomatoes and Pesto, it was quite refreshing but it’s missing radish, black olives, and asparagus as described on their menu… Polpette Di Manzo came in 2 MASSIVE Italian Beef Meatballs that were firm, flavourful and the tomato sauce coated the meatballs so well! Polpo was Grilled Octopus, served with Swiss Chard, Chili Tomato Sauce, it had a nice char to it! For Pasta Special, we chose the Pesto Chicken Penne, the pesto sauce was delicious, we thought the pasta wasn’t al-dente, but the portion was HUGE!! Funghi Pizza was MASSIVE, it came with Roasted Mushroom, Arugula, Shaved Cheese, and Truffle, we thought it was delicious, only wished it had more truffle oil!

The atmosphere was nice enough, good for a business meeting location. The menu was very appetizing. However, truthfully, the food fell short. I'm married to an Italian, have traveled to Italy, so I value authentic Italian food. The sauce was actually sweet, the spinach in my dish was overpowering, and the lamb was very... lamb-y. I didn't finish my meal, which is bizarrely rare for me. The staff were quite helpful. But in all honesty I don't know if I'd go back.

I always get the Funghi pizza and love it. Specially what sets the pizza apart from all the other ones I've tried around Toronto is the truffle oil. It's generously drizzled and you can smell and taste the flavour right away!

Very classy Italian restaurant with prices that aren't outrageous for the quality. They accommodated a rather large group for us, and their staff were excellent; friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The food across our group was very well received. Pasta, pizza, and chicken were all excellent. The pizza in particular seems excellent value on their menu. They have a very impressive wine list, although we didn't explore during lunch.

for the money they charge the portions are extremely small and don't even feed one person. they charge 19.00 for Ricotta Gnocchi and the portion they give you maybe could feed a 5 year old! Also, hardly any sauce, all you taste is cold Chicken! if you are charging that much money, at-least make sure your customer gets a descent amount of food. same goes with other items on the menu, for what they charge, you are still hungry after!

The food was amazing , portion size isn't the best, however the customer service was really bad , took about an hour to get my food, waiter did not check up on me , he forgot multiple times when I asked for refills i had to ask another waiter to bring me water ,and when I ordered he forgot one of the dishes and did not seem apologetic at all, overall food is great but customer service needs to improve because it was a very frustrating experience.

Great COVID Patio dining experience! They setup the patio absolutely beautifully. You truly are socially distanced than the other tables and the space looks beautiful! The food was really good. Portions a good size and very tasty. They had bread as an app and it was delicious, soft, flavorful and plentiful! The prices were surprisingly affordable for a restaurant of that caliber. We had the Burrata Salad which was fabulous and fresh tasting. A variety of pastas and desserts and all was great. The service was super friendly, she was very sweet, however she wasn't very well trained and she did forewarn us that it was her first day. But we would've preferred that if it was her first day maybe she work shadowing someone? As there were some small mistakes and then one of our pastas came completely wrong but we didn't want to wait for them to re-make it so we ate it. As well, they were sold out of quite a few of the cheapest wine bottles and she kept having to run back to find out what was in stock and then have us re-order. Small things but for a $400 dinner we would've preferred that she served us with a more senior server so that we didn't have to go through the mistakes that added up. Otherwise would 100% go back! Amazing food and atmosphere and really enjoyed ourselves. And really well done COVID patio!

Great neighborhood restaurant with an excellent wine list well exceeding what is expected from a restaurant this size. Food is solid here as is the service. They accomodate different dietary needs quite well, so don't be afraid to ask them to make adjustments to their dishes - they are eager to please! Even though I am a big meat eater, I was particularly impressed with their chickpea bolognese with zucchini noodles. It’s one of their biggest sellers and I can see why, totally delicious! We visited September 8th. I found that menu had changed since last trip. All my favourite dishes were gone. Very limited menu. Food was mixed. Our fishes were excellent. The thin slices of veal were over cooked and should have been returned. All sides were extra and not cheap. Fish including side worked out to over $40. Personally I preferred old menu. Will not be back.

Overpriced for what you get. My pasta special was very salty and the portion small for the $38 charged. Salad also small for $12 they. In the end dinner for 2 was over $100 and not worth it IMO. Service was decent though.

I was baffled by the service that we received last night. Our reservation was at 9:45pm, the waiter came to our table 3 times within 5 minutes rushing us to place our order. When we said we were debating between two dishes , instead of providing any type of recommendation, he walked away. When we asked if there were any non-alcoholic cocktails, he gave us his two cents by showing us the wine menu and saying "you see this wine menu you, we are known for having 400-500 wine options!" This comment was unnecessary, we had already known there was a wine menu but we both don't drink alcohol. He immediately walked away after and i had to wait for him to come back to ask him if there were any carbonated drinks or other beverages we can order, he simply said "pop, juice , water...what do you want ?!" in a very rude tone. Last but not least , when we were about to pay for the bill, I had the bill whereas my friend handed over her credit card but I insisted to pay since I had the bill. The waiter showed his frustration and lectured us by saying " you both are adults, I shouldn't have to be involved with this!". Overall we bad a terrible experience, this our first patio experience together after the restaurants were able to open for dine in services and he made it awful. I would never recommend anyone to visit the restaurant with such horrible service.

Best to make a reservation here since the service is relaxed (they do not serve you at record speed in order to get you out of the door fast) and people tend to have long meals here (a-la-Europe). They have a great, large patio with dividers between tables (or a wide break). Each table has a large overhead heat lamp and they also have done "standing" heat lamps. The portions are good size and their lunch bowls are VERY large (good value @$17). The service is attentive but not overbearing. While the restaurant is on a main artery, there is ample parking in the nearby alley. Their pizzas (we had a mushrooms) is one of the very best that I tasted in Toronto. The only reason that I gave the restaurant 4 snd not 5 stars is that it is a bit noisy. Furthermore, there was a table of 5 women who were extremely noisy so much so that all other tables were looking at them. The restaurant should have asked them to tone it down since they were truly a nuesence to everyone else.

Such a great local place I keep returning to... the staff are all wonderful and make the experience all the better. The wine list is amazing with some great difficult-to-find bottles. The patio set up outside due to COVID is nicely lit up and provides a lot of space for customers. So far I have only had the pizza's - Funghi was best I have ever had - although I think I need to return to try the turkey bolognese next...

Portions small for the price, especially the $29 seafood pasta. 2 very small scoops of gelato was $8 and looked puny compared to the giant glass it was served in. Pizza was a good size but very salty. Free appetizer bread was stone cold which was strange. Service was okay and the atmosphere cozy. A let down since our party of 6 was so excited to eat here.

The patio is open and is quite busy, nice ambiance and good option for dining comfortably with good food during covid times. A reservation in advance is very much recommended for dinner. A tad pricy for the salads , but I will admit the funghi pizza with arugula and truffle oil was delicious with an amazing fresh crust.

Bad service. Had patio seating, my table was off on the side with no heater around. I asked to be moved to one of the available tables near a heater before my meal came. Long story short the hostess said yes then no, and said the table was reserved. The table was open for almost an hour with another table also available. Bottom line, you should always take care of the customers that are present before the ones who might come and then don't show. No need to ever go back to this place, outside of service the food was only ok. You can find better for the same price.

I went to Paese tonight with my daughter for dinner. When we first sat down on the patio there was a huge Great Dane dog next to us. We got our food, I had pizza and my daughter had branzino. The server came over to ask about the food and I told her that the pizza was not very good. I said that we were at La Vecchia a few weeks ago where the pizza was much better. The owner (Tony Loschiavo) then came over to the table to address our dissatisfaction with the food. He said that if La Vecchia was much better then we should go there. He told us to never come back to Paese. He snatched the food off of our table and told us to leave. He then sent me these emails.

It was a very lovely dinner shared with family. We visited during summerlicious 3 course menu going on however they also had Giro Italia going on which was a 4 course menu selection from the region of Calabria. Our group ordered from both menus and the food and wine although pricey was enjoyed.

On December 9, 2016 I attended our annual Christmas Luncheon at Paese Ristorante. Upon leaving I suddenly began feeling ill. Once I arrived home I began to vomit followed by diarrhea. I realized I may have food poisoning. I decided to call other members of our party, and was informed that one other person also fell ill with the same symptoms. We contacted the restaurant to inform them. The response was as follows, we both must of been ill before attending the restaurant. My reason for contacting the restaurant was not to blame but to inform so they may investigate and take the necessary precautions. In closing an apology would have sufficed but to lay blame on the customers was outrageous.

Was a regular frequent customer for about 3 years. The reason I stopped coming here was because I noticed the servers gossiping about clients that had been there just after they would leave. The atmosphere seems very negative and I would imagine it stems from management.
