Service was very good. Thank you Klavdia. Restaurant interior needs refreshing, at least the carpet. Food - 3 course lunch meal. None of the dishes wowed us. Food tastes average with a bit too much salt. Use of sauce, that looks like gravy, should be reconsidered. (Chef Ramsey would have been swearing at the application of sauce). Don't feel like we got the value for the money. Cheers!

We enjoyed dinner here for my daughter's 26th birthday recently. The reception was pleasant, we were seated quickly, and the food quite tasty (5/6 meals were great, the steak was average) with high praise for the duck and lamb. Scallops were delicious, but small portion (only 4) reduced the value for food somewhat ($38). The service was the true disappointment, with our entrees coming 45 minutes after starter dishes were cleared. I'd definitely give it another shot, but perhaps be more forthright in my time expectations.

Wonderful food, coffee! Perfect wine and service! Great recommendations and decoration. What can i say? Steak duck veal salmon, every guests all have a wonderful experience, you may think its not enough from the picture but I tell you, most of us are too full to finish all three course. Where is the sixth star. I wanna light it up! You give us a wonderful wedding banquet! why there are some negative feedbacks ? Ridiculous! I love. I visited the place with my husband last week for the first time. The ambience was marvellous! It was so romantic and relaxing for us as we were visiting the place on our anniversary. The food was great too, we both had steak and it was so delicious and just PARFAIT! The servant was very friendly and caring too, the thing for which I’m giving it a 3 star is that they kept us waiting and standing at the front desk without being greeted for more than 5 minutes until finally someone came to greet us and have us seated! Besides that, my husband ordered tea after the meal but they brought him coffee, though it wasn’t really crowded to make such a careless mistake and only 3 more couples except us! Anyhow, I will go back again for the food and ambience! :)

My wife and I came here for diner to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere is authentic and personal. I ordered the fillet mignon and it was outstanding. Le Montemarte is a lovely French restaurant in North York. The food is authentically French and made in a very traditional French style with classic techniques and very French flavors. Staff are lovely and the owner is very approachable. The atmosphere is as if you are dining in someone's home for the night (it's very quaint).

Definitely my favourite little place for French food. A cute old lady is always the person running the floor, and she speaks french to you when she can so it gives the restaurant a more authentic feel. The food is delectable. There is always room and cozy spots for a romantic occasion, but i've also seen large families come eat here. It is definitely family friendly, but the prices are more on the fine-dining side.

Don't get me wrong, I love this restaurant to pieces and have been there on multiple occasions with different people. However, there are just a couple of details you might want to know in advance. The staff used to be all French and now they've got some Canadian servers there, which I don't mind but I feel like it took away from some of the charm. The service in general can be a bit slow, but it's more the culture of leisurely dining. Don't go if you're in a rush to go to a show or anything, or leave yourself with ample time. The decor is super adorable and a little cheesy, Parisian inspired, but also romantic. Not prohibitively pretentious (like downtown Toronto), which is GREAT. The atmosphere is quiet even when it is a full house, as was mentioned in a different review. So that is nice. The male owner can be a touch more aggressive than the female owner (who is just adorable). I can see him being more likely to ask someone to leave if they have extremely loud children or are generally not behaving as one might expect in a restaurant with full linen and stemware. Other than that, he's perfectly tolerable. The food is hit or miss, but generally speaking very good. Do not get the duck in orange sauce as it is quite marmalade-ey. The fish and shrimp entrees are all tasty, but nothing to write home about (I'm also bias as I almost never order fish when I am dining out because I find it often unremarkable in this city). HOWEVER, they do an EXCELLENT job on the mussels, lobster bisque, lamb and veal medallions. Truly some of the best renditions of those dishes I have ever had. They are a SOLID place to take your friends, lovers and family for special occasions as long as they are the kind of people that can appreciate the dishes I have just named. They also have tasty wine with their food and both are surprisingly affordable. It's definitely the best bang for your buck in the area.

First off, the staff at this place were so welcoming and friendly, it hurts a bit to give them anything less than five stars, but I am a man of the people and honesty is key when it comes to good food. The celery soup was on point and quite tasty, I would have that again for sure. But for my main, I had the veal medallions with veggies and potatoes and everything was a bit lackluster, I expect a bit more for French cuisine. The interior of the place also needs a refresh, felt like we were eating in 1972. Overall a pleasant experience, but I am unsure if I would return.

It was good until the owner gave us all kind of attitude because we didn't want to pay one bill.. 11 people.. 5 couples... Plus 1.. the wait staff didn't ask and we didn't offer.. one 2 people paid for all the alcohol.. This was an easy fix until the owner became rude and blamed us for not saying one person was paying the almost $900.00 bill. To quote the owner when we said nobody asked us about payment. "I don't care this is my place and this is how I run it".. I believe he doesn't care and may run it into the ground. The food was ok.. parking and signage is poor... Not worth the time .. Eat somewhere else. Some of the staff are new and probably that is the biggest problem.

Normally I don't write reviews, but this restaurant deserves one. I had dinner here on New Year's Eve and it was amazing. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and the food was beyond compare - the best I've ever had. I had the carrot soup as an appetizer and honestly I would've been happy with that because it was that good. Lucky for me I then had the steak with a mushroom sauce = delicious. Then the creme brulee for dessert. Overall the food was SO good, big size portions (I was STUFFED by the time I left). I can't wait for the next time I can visit!!!!

Was there a few months ago and loved it so much, I decided to go back to celebrate a very special occasion. What a let down. First ... the waiter was dressed in faded jeans and a lumberjack shirt. Very crude looking. Then the Caesar salad was romaine, a few croutons, powdered parm cheese and what tasted like bottled dressing. THAT is not acceptable for what they charge. I expected anchovies, grated fresh parm cheese and at the very least...some real BACON bits. Sad to say but...McDonalds serves a better quality salad. The entree portions were so small...I went home and had a snack. Come on folks...it is really bad when you are served a plate that skimped on the cheapest ingredients...like veggies and potatoes! They never offer coffee refill and we sat and sat and waited a long time for the bill. Our bill,for 2 was $160.00 and we left feeling really ripped off.Too bad, but I won`t be going back there.

First 5 star review I give! I have visited only once but had a great experience. The service was good, though not top notch. Food is excellent and I personally liked the beverages menu. Of course the ambient is the prime aspect here, very cosy, not crowded or noisy, light music, etc. I personally loved how they set up the round table for two, with the chairs at a slight angle so they are closer to each other; hated where they positioned the table though, it was right by the door which exposed rather than gave privacy.

Excellent supper! The French Onion was cheesy, delicious, and came out piping hot. The lamb and veal were cooked perfectly. The best part was the desserts, a tiramisu that was just very nice and light. The Profiteroles fill with vanilla ice cream was beautiful. As for atmosphere, my lady friend found the place very charming and love the paintings on the walls. The service was just right.

If you're looking for flavorful authentic french food, you must check this place out. I've been ordering food here for years and there's nothing quite like it! The food is EXACTLY like what I remember when I lived in France. The food is just incredibly delicious and satisfying, fresh and homemade is the best way I can describe it. Nothing here tastes artificial and that's sooo hard (for me anyway) to find.

Frequently see this unsuspecting place on my way up to York University and finally got a chance to try it the other day with my wife. Be prepared to budget about $75/pp. While a quick glance at the menu online suggests the possibility of making it out of there at a cost of $50/pp, don't be fooled. Setting is extremely charming, but the food, while above average, doesn't entirely measure up to the cost. Appetizers lack a bit of inspiration, entrees, while being the restaurant's strength, could still benefit from a slightly more refined preparation. Likewise, ingredient selection, unfortunately, does not really rise above the quality of your basic grocery store. Good wine and digestif selection. This restaurant is worth trying out, if only for its quaint charm and its rustically tinged food--beware of the above caveats however. It should be noted that the service was excellent. Overall: 3.75/5 (B+) Service: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5 Value: 3/5

Booked a reservation for nine over the phone for tonight about a week ago. Spoke to a lady who confirmed. Today we got there for my Mom’s birthday and they had absolutely no idea who we were. My party included 2 seniors who flew in from out of the country and my brother with autism. We travelled about an hour to get there and were extremely disappointed to hear that our reservation wasn’t written down. The restaurant could not accommodate us and it was a shame. We were left scrambling to find another place to eat on a Saturday night. Felt terrible for my Mom who was really looking forward to this.

This is a cute small French bistro type Alatmosphere which was was great. We did not have a reservation which is suggested but they were more than accomodating. The food was excellent as well. The French onion soup, lobster bisque, escargot and lamb chops are a must try!!! Will be going back for sure

Good place for a quiet dinner atmosphere, selection is good and satisfying. Place is a bit difficult to access and find parking, and wait time for courses can be a little better, but overall a worthwhile experience

(Translated) Excellent meal! I ate fish when my mother had calf's liver. We enjoyed the whole meal and especially the creme brulee. A good wine by the glass at $ 10. It's very nice. This place is amazing. Margie is very warm and receptive and her restaurant feels exactly like her personality. Great selection of food. Personal favourite are the scallops, mussels and lobster bisque soup. Highly recommended.
