Service
Great food, and beautifully decorated! Very cozy atmosphere! Will go again!
The best part about this restaurant is it's cozy interior atmosphere and view! Great representation of Iranian culture through architecture and decor! (Very fun to take non Persian people to) The food is decent but can't say that it's the best Persian kebab in the city, but it is in no means bad! Very clean, authentic, decent prices, with large portions. The biggest downfall for me was the somewhat slow service but people were nice for the most part! Will go again!
Takes a long time to bring the food. Otherwise, the quality is fine but not extraordinary.
Dinner
Loved this place, very nice setting, I like the decorations, the food is great, service is acceptable, (I don't want someone who is too chatty anyway), price is reasonable considering the setting. Overall I will recommend to my friends and I will certainly come again.
A traditional environment for eating persian foods. I can suggest its Kebab Torsh which is the most delicious one even better than its Barg. Staffs are polite and you can register your car plate at the enterance to have free parking. Any surprising appetizer may encourage us to go there more.
We came here tonight (mid-aug) and the Air conditioner was broken. Everyone including waiters were sweating. Apparently this was day 3 of no air conditioning. One of the fans were not working either. The manager was not in the restaurant and waiters didn't know what to do.
Good quality Persian food (although it can be better but still very tasty and delicious). Best thing about this place is the ambience and nicely decorated sitting area which I really liked!
Really liked this Persian restaurant at Westin Hotel in Toronto. The food and service were both nice. I especially liked the decor which added to the overall ambience of the place
Service
Food leaves a lot to be desired. Service is abysmal. Our food came one at a time, so some had started eating while others were waiting for their dish. Some of our dishes were cold when they arrived. COVID guidelines are not being followed here. Tables are not at two meters distance to allow for two meter physical distancing which is required under Ontario phase 3 for indoor dining. Furthermore, there are no covid precautions in place. A table was sat immediately next to us, divided by only a staircase railing, providing no space or protection at all. Staff don’t care and actively flout the rules. When told, they respond in an aggressive and condescending way. One staff in particular, Tara, was incredibly rude with no concern whatsoever. Overall, would avoid. Plenty of better Persian restaurants in the city!
This is my another favourite persian restaurant. I really like the atmosphere there. Their foods are really fresh, high quality and delicious. They will bring you freshly baked bread till your food gets ready. My suggestion to Gilaneh owner is that I think they can easily increase their food quality even more to be the best in GTA, and I am really open to give my suggestions to them.
As soon as I saw my dish ,I forgot to take a picture of it. But not to mention , it was awesome food , service and atmospheres. For sure we go there again . We where group of 30. We start with mirzaghasemi & kashek bademjan. My Dish was Gilaneh special kebabs. My wife , kebab Torsh My kids Vaziry . I tried a bit of all and A+ for it. One star lest only because they didn't have Baghleh Ghtogh !
Meal type
Lower your expectations for the service at Gilaneh restaurant! Like literally less than what you usually consider least. We ordered food and drinks, nothing out of ordinary. They mixed up the orders, drinks and ignored all the requests. The food is meh. The bad and slow service is really the weakest point. And the servant kept saying that she is alone and we get what we get when she finds the time to do so!!
Delicious Persian food and excellent service, great place to go with family.
My review is based on service, food and restaurant atmosphere. Food: we have ordered several dishes my menu, I really loved their Kobedaah kabab. Food quality and quantity was good. Traditional Iranian cuisine taste. Highly recommended. Food Prices: Food prices are quite high. Some dishes price range are between $25 to $32. it would be nice if they revise the price. Service: service was good though food took some time to be served but worth wait. Servers were friendly, professionals and provided suggestions. Atmosphere: Restaurant has traditional Iranian touch with village setup which I really liked it. Low light touch making ambiance more romantic. Entrance was nice with some traditional items and statues.
We came here with friends for lunch. The foods are not cheap here but the portion was generous. The atmosphere is nice inside the restaurant. There is free parking if you entered your license plate on their computer.
Best Persian restaurant in all of Toronto area. Their unique dishes makes them very special. I love this restaurant.
Best Persian food you can find. They are very professional and friendly as well. A little bit pricy compare to other typical restaurants but for sure worth it.
Had koobideh rice today and hit the spot. Wish I had the badamjan without the keshk was a bit strong for my liking. Chicken breast here is my favourite. Nice decor. Bit on high end pricewise and parking is free validated when you check in. Wonderful staff but a bit slow.
I called ordered for pickup and was told 25 min came to pickup and told to wait 30 more minutes, worst service. Asked to speak to manager and just says we were busy if ur busy let me know over the phone 50 min I wouldn’t mind but lying and telling me they were busy and not even apologizing. This restaurant is honestly very unprofessional and lost my interest to ever get an order here
It was a great experience dinning at Gilaneh restaurant; The quality of meals was great, the taste of meals was unique and signature so …
This place had a very clean environment with very nice, helpfull and kind staff. As you walk in to the door you greeted by grand and beautiful traditional Persian sculptures which really made you feel like you were in a traditional resturaunt in the heart of Iran. The wait for the food is fine because what comes after is a juicy well decorated plate full with flavour. You have choices of many Persian dishes from sultani kebab to mirzaghaseme. I would have given it a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the extreme amount of oil on the food. Some of the most oily food I have ever ate, essepecially on the rice which was absolutely dripping with oil. So people with fatty liver or heart conditions beware because this restaurant may give you your last meal. But all jokes aside it is a clean and friendly environment with great but not diet friendly food.
Gross food, can’t even cook kabob, got it burned once then uncooked the second time they docked $5 off the bill for something that wasn’t edible. The food will make you sick, avoid at all cost. The rice was hard and gross nothing can be eaten here. Oh and topping on the cake is it’s overpriced.
The food was tasty but some of the pieces was uncooked and the portion was small. We were not happy with the service. The waitress was nice but because the restaurant was very busy she couldn’t respond efficiently. We enjoyed the environment and view.
Highly recommended to have a Persian meal. Free parking, fresh and tasty food with beautiful place to sit. Medium size portions. Free hot bread for starter is amazing. Soup was so yummy!
Great service, delicious food! I would go back again and again ????????
We didn’t reserve that’s why without any complain an hour we wait for a free table, what we can’t accept was waiting time for food, we wait more than 1 hour for food too!!! …
Really great food and aesthetic. Server was super nice. It's a bit pricey because it's next to the hotel, but certainly reasonable. Taking off 1 star because I'd love if the staff could diligently remind patrons to put on their masks when they're walking to and from the bathrooms.
The food was disappointing. The kabob plate was mainly grilled onion and pepper. The meat wasnt tender with low rice quality. There are many places better than this with better food and reasonable portion. It was the third time i was here and I don't recommend it.
Wonderful place, you surly feel like you are in Iran. Interior decor, colours, walls everything so authentic and different from any other Persian restaurant I’ve been in Toronto. Food is great. I highly recommend appetizers with eggplant and olives (pictured below). Also, their specialty is an authentic dish with beans, I’ve heard, which was finished by the time we arrived, so I didn’t have a chance to try, but it’s highly recommended. Only think that didn’t impress me at the restaurant is the dessert menu, and actual desserts, but everything else was extraordinary. Great people work there too. Highly recommended.
Excellent! I was visiting my friend in Toronto. We did a lot of dining in this place and everything was well presented. Best Persian Kabab, rice, etc... I highly recommend this place for all visitors. Happy dining!
This is a great restaurant. I am a self proclaimrd kabob connaiseur and enthusiast. They have great good and a great ambiance/decor. I would have not given them 5 stars for service but I have not been enough to judge a restaurant based on 2 waitresses.
Amazing crew and extremely organized place. The wedding for our friend went exceptionally smooth and according to the plan. Fantastic and elegant
Great restaurant and atmosphere. Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. They validate your parking, so no need to pay.
Clean restaurant with nice interior design , delicious kebab. Good price for the service
I loved the place. You can try the real taste of Persian food. The interior design is very good, I think they spent a lot of time and money on it, they are nice and friendly too. Price-wise , it's a little bit high but I like their food and the atmosphere so I don't mind. They have two different halls and they have live music in one of them and there is extra 10$ charge for it.
It was fantastic the location and the waitress and of course the foods but I would like to have more Iranian traditional foods option there including Ash...
Best place for Persian food. The atmosphere is very authentic, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the food is something different. Probably my favorite middle eastern restaurant.
It offers Iranian cuisine. Resturant environment is old fashion style and it is realy fantastics. Their Kebabs are tender and delicious. Their appetizers with eggplants are recommended with a special bread. Good news is parking fee are rebated.
We visited the restaurant, the quality of the food was Extremely Poor !! I asked for “Chanjeh” and my friend ordered “Kabab Torsh”. Both where burnt outside and raw inside. I tried to separate the burnt parts and suddenly realised half of the kebab is gone. Seems they were cooked in rush. The size of the kebabs were smaller than other Persian restaurants as well. Not recommend it at all.
The quality of the food was absolutely disappointing. I ordered white fish with the hope that it would remind me of my childhood memories of Gilan. The taste was awful ???? the fish wasn't marinated at all. When I complained to the waitress, she said she was sorry and the only thing she could do was reporting that to the manager. She saw I hardly ate anything from the plate and surprisingly didn't offer any type of compensation .
I had read the reviews about not having good service but when I went we had a fantastic experience. The server was extremely friendly and offered to take multiple photos of us and made sure we all enjoyed the food. They got our orders correct even when we made small changes and the food was really delicious, a little too much rice for me but good portions overall.
Great Iranian food، dishes are amazing, the décoré is pleasant. The have fresh bread from oven. A bit pricey but well worth it if you ask me.
So there is a common saying that try to find places where people from that particular ethnicity or community visit to get the most authentic and best experience in food. Gilaneh was one of those recommendations from one of my Iranian friends. And when we visited the place it was quite packed and it was purely made up of people from the Iranian/Middle Eastern back ground. So I had my expectations high in terms of the experience, especially in terms of the food, to be really good and memorable. The ambiance was quite nice (but not as nice as Pomegranate), the service was decent. But the food was a major disappointment. Not that it was bad food. But for the price you paid the quality wasn't that great. I didn't feel like I was having "Restaurant Quality" food especially for a one that is showcased as been quite fancy. The ingredients were quite basic and the flavor profile was quite bland and not elevated. I've tried many Persian restaurants before and I would say Gilaneh ranks quite low in terms of the food. We had the Barley Soup, Alo Mosama (Chicken stew with Plum), Baghali Polo & Mahiceh (Lamb with herb rice), Veggie Kebab and the Mirza Ghasemi (BBQ eggplant). The Barley soup felt like something you would get in a can or a frozen packet. the BBQ eggplant was too smoky that it over powered the ingredients (especially the egg plant). The veggie kebab was quite basic, just rice and basic begetables. The only dish that felt worthy of the price was the Lamb and the Herb rice. The rice especially was good as it had good flavors, which is what you would expect in a restaurant like this. The lamb portion it self needed more seasoning and flavors. The chicken dish was quite average. Probably the best part of it all was the house flat bread that was quite delicious. Not sure if I will visit Gilaneh again unless significant changes are made to the food to be at par with many other better offerings in the city. The flavor profile, quality of ingredients, innovation etc. need to be elevated to a level that warrants the price that is charged and the premium location. Service needs to be more proactive and more pleasant. The hosts were quite lethargic in their approach and you had to keep calling them for everything. If the same level of awe and amazement found in the entrance is provided in the food, this restaurant can go places. But not at the moment.

Very nice iranian restaurant, the kebab meat was super tender and delicious, also the appetizers which we ordered grilled eggplants with walnuts and pamagrant paste was so good, also rice, as an iranian guy I can say you're eating one of the food in this place, also the waiters were super nice and friendly, highly recommend ???? Only the lady on reception was a bit rude but who cares about her lol
A classy place with delicious food and good service. See the menu pages. Not sure if if they have disability access or not as you need to climb stairs to reach the restaurant.
It was my first experience at the restaurant. The environment is great, awesome view and staffs are welcoming. I had barg; it was tender but could use a bit more of spices. In general an amazing experience. Thank you Gilaneh.
Gilaneh is our favorite Persian Restaurant, the traditional decor and food is amazing, perfect for a date night or having a great meal with family and friends. We love the Koobideh & Torsh Kebob ???? Our waitress on our latest visit was Mallika, she was very attentive and had a very pleasant personality, she really made sure that we had a good time.

I honestly did not actually go to this restaurant physically but my parents did and they brought me home take out! I got the chicken breast kebab (boneless) and my parents brought home their leftovers in a separate take out container which was the barg. There was a black string of hair stuck to the barg, I had to physically remove it with a tissue. My food was in a separate take out container and as I was enjoying my rice I found another piece of black hair in my rice. It’s Covid and it seems to me the cooks are not wearing hairnets or masks if this is beard hair or head hair. I’m officially grossed out it’s too far to get our money back but surely no one will be back because the fact is that it happened twice in two separate containers. Disgusted don’t go here!!! There Will be hair in your food ????????????????????????
This restaurant is a hidden gem that I have discovered today in Yorkmills. Absolutely flawless in every way. Food, taste, service, ambiance and the reflection of persia culture mixed with persian cuisine. You can't ask for more in this life. 5 stars from heart. Will def visit soon again.
Best Persian Restaurant I have been to in Toronto! We really enjoyed our visit here. Great food, clean and beautiful restaurant, Friendly staff and great service. …
we through my father in law's celebration of life in Gilaneh. The service, food, organization, respect and professionalism towards our guests was beyond and above our imagination. We here deeply appreciate the great manger and her wonderful crew who made that event such a memorable night for every one of us.
Great food, fresh and delicious. Nice ambience! Just wish the service was a bit faster. Overall great experience. Have been there many times and will go back.
The food was ok, I got Kabob Torah which was not cooked well ( it was like rare cooked steak). However, our server was very helpful.
Great food, good service. I was expecting 5 star though, quality was great just didn't feel like they went that extra inch.... Amazing bread , the grilled eggplant is a full meal on its own , and a damn good one for that matter!
Food was very good, meat was tender and flavors were bold (5/5). Service was slow, seems like they were understaffed (2/5). Restaurant was stuffy and humid because there was no AC. There were 5 or 6 fans instead, which were loud and got windy in certain spots.
Meal type
The food was terrible. Tried Mahiche and Geyme Bademjan. Both no flavor what so ever. The meat was undercooked. The servants were running in the restaurant like a football field. Under staffed. It takes long time to bring your food and what a waste. Stay away.
The waiter was good but overall food quality and presentation was average
Overall the food quality is good and close to what we have back in Iran! I hope they reopen soon!
If you have a baby, you'll be running into trouble as the restuarant is in the second floor with no elevators/escalators. Also, their highchairs are not comfortable for babies. Otherwise, everything is great.
Absolut beautiful restaurant and delicious food. We were referred by a friend and found this place. The restaurant doesn't have a sign and we didn't know this restaurant existed. It's in a very hidden place. We went there all the lights outside were totally dark and had no idea that it was actually a open restaurant. I would suggest they should play soft music in the background. But overall it is a great restaurant
This restaurant pretend to be Persian restaurant. The servants causing stress running in the restaurant. Clearly understaffed. They never come to ask you is everything good post brining the food. The quality of food was horrible. No flavour at all. Be prepared to be waiting for tour food 1 hour or more very very slow process.
Amazing experience! The place is beautiful, the food is delicious, the different spices are worth to try. If you park there is paid, but they offer parking rebate.
Great food for a good value. We enjoyed the vibe and service was amazing.
I love kababs so that's what I order. Their kababs (Koobideh, Joojeh and barg) were delicious. I went to Gilaneh before the pandemic and they baked their fresh bread which was very good. The only bad experience I had was related to the reservation. I reserved a specific table as I needed a quiet corner but the table wasn't ready. And it got worse because they gave us one of the worse tables. There were a couple of empty tables which we preferred and the waiter said those were reserved. But no one used them while we were there :( I will still go to the place, maybe in the near future. but I won't do reservation again! It was a waste of time to do so! :(
we ordered food after 45 minutes they serve food and said we don't have one of order super disappointed
Fantastic restaurant with great food. Torsh kebab is amazing and so are all the other bbq meats. My favourite Persian restaurant in Toronto.
The food was terrible! Meat doesn’t cooked at all (Ghafghazi Kebab and chicken breast kebab both) also they used very low quality rice for their meals.
Perfect restaurant. Friendly poeple plus freshly baked ???? bread with kebab.
Unfortunately during our visit the soup was cold. There was a plastic thread in the coked rice. Staff was notified Service staff are coruteous. Our overall visit experience wasn't the gratest. Improvement required.
Lunch
I ordered vaziri , which comes with kobide and jooje , afte 45 min she came and said we are out of kobide , you would have to wait 30 minutes or get the jojeh we will bring the kobideh later. Afte waiting a long time!!!!!????
Wow!!! This place is amazing! Best torsh in town. Golbarg, kate kabob and eggplant kababi are amazing. The yogurt is best in town! The service was amazing. This is one of fewe persian place that have been around for a long time and have kept their quality, service and class! Cant wait to return for some dizi next!!!
I was there for Yalda but unfortunately it didn't feel like a true Yalda night. The food was cold and the service was delayed. They brought a small portion of pomegranate for a group of people, and the nuts were not fresh. Not only the food was not exceptional but also the music. All and all I had higher expectations from this place.
