To this day the business receives a rating of 4.5 stars over 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is almost the top, and it's founded on a large number of scores, so we may say that the rating is very reliable. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Japanese restaurant.
Update 2021-12-22: we were here for dinner because we were on the north shore and this place continues to be one of our go to places to eat. This evening was insanely busy. Service was only a tad slower than usual but their attention to …
My favorite Japanese restaurant, fresh, authentic, good quality food; polite and professional, clean and quiet environment
We just ordered takeaway from Sansho for the first time tonight and we will absolutely be ordering again. It is super reasonably priced for what we believe to be some of the most authentic and freshest sushi we have had in North Van. Having spent some time in Japan, we can confidently say that this is the real deal. The aburi oshi is excellent and the salmon nigiri melts in your mouth. Can't wait for sushi night again soon!
We've been to many Vancouver sushi places and Sancho Sushi is definitely one of or the best of them all! Or my favorite so far anyway. Everything is fresh-made and delicious. Real wild caught salmon is used and their BC rolls are the best! They had many dishes here that other sushi places don't even offer. The grilled Saba didn't even have bones in it. Try it you will not be disappointed if you love Seafood & Sushi!
Excellent sushi and friendly staff. Go early as this place is popular and they get swamped.
So good! And the staff was super friendly. Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the Vancouver Metro area.
Fresh, clean, tasty and not too expensive. The best Japanese place in North Vancouver!
Not kidding when I say this is some of the best Sushi I've had in a long time definitely worth coming here.
The place to go for fresh Sushi and other tasty dishes. Very busy with local regulars. Great friendly and fast service.
I used to love eating at Sansho, but the service has regressed to the point where I'm not even going to bother trying to go anymore. Pre-covid we ate in the restaurant a lot and were often ignored after being seated. Trying to flag down the wait staff is fruitless. They acknowledge that you're waiting but still don't come over. Today I tried to call in an order for New Year's soba and was asked to hold to place my order. They put the phone down and I heard the staff dealing with multiple other customers. After 3 minutes I hung up. 3 minutes doesn't sound like a lot but being ignored for that long is very frustrating.
First time there tonight finally a contender with Hachi Hana and at a very reasonable price... excellent sushi and proper homestyle Japanese cuisine that I haven't found anywhere else in the area. Friendly service and the dankest of udons on the North Shore. A+++
We love Sansho Sushi located in Queensberry Village in North Vancouver. The place is small but the food is very good and the service was great! We tried this place 3x and would go back if we are the area. A hidden japanese gem.
Very nice small little place. A bit our of the classic Lonsdale place but worth coming. Food is great and if you are coming often you can check-in for some discount (after 10 times).
Very good service and always smile on her face
One of the best somewhat hidden sushi joints in North Vancouver that offers variety of fresh seafood rolls and nigiris. The presentation and the food quality are a top notch, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. We were happy with …
The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious and fairly inexpensive, and the amount of food was good for the price. The location is a bit weird if you don't live around but its definitely worth the drive. Plus its one of the only sushi places around here that serves calpico.
Tonight we decided to try a new place. We have had the same sushi restaurant as our mainstay for years now. We were rewarded with the some of the best sushi I have had period. Why? Well it all comes down to the quality of the fish. …
Very nice sushi, with good presentation and wonderful flavours. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there are a wide variety of interesting and different choices on the menu.
I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best sushi I've ever eaten. In Europe I have never had the chance to taste such a quality of fish (sashimi). …
Best authentic Japanese food on the north shore!
So far, it's pretty good for this location, it does have a very nice portion or selection of sushi dishes to choose from, if you are interested in cozy spot for a Japanese meal, come check this out.
My friend took me here for lunch- we had the sansho lunchbox w/ chicken teriyaki. The chicken was so juicy and had that charcoal BBQ flavor. Definitely visit again
I love exceptionally good food! I find a large margin of difference between good Japanese food and the exception. This little hole in the wall, nieghbor hood joint has exceptionally fresh sushi , a wide selection of saki and attentive service. I have eaten at every sushi place in North Van and this one is consistently the best at what they do!.
Friendly staff. Authentic Japanese food. Excellent quality...
Really wonderful place! Took the food home and the tempura was AMAZING
Knew this place long time ago, but never tried until recent. I ordered the Sansho Gozen, which is fancier word for two bentos in my assumption. Quality of sashimi outweighs everything, teriyaki had smoky bbq aroma, and small side dishes were sufficient, I believe the serving was for two.
Great sushi! I’ve gotten take out from here a couple times and was not disappointed.
The hard-to-find; japanese restaurant owned by japanese. High quality foods, with specials including izakaya sides.
Great sushi -lovely family run restaurant. Vegetable dragon rolls are amazing. Just plan for a leisurely dinner -it’s not lightning service -but friendly.
I was so hungry that I forgot to take photos. It’s always lucky to have a hidden Place in the neighborhood. The staffs were friendly, food was delicious! We definitely go there more frequently
Ever since my discovery of this hidden gem a few years ago, I have been coming here to savour my favourite sushi and other items! Special highlights: Anago Sushi, Blue Fin Tuna Sushi, Hamachi Kama just time …
Simply the best Japanese restaurant on the North Shore. One of Vancouver's best kept dining secrets. Quality food at affordable prices. Take the whole family!
Good location for locals however... The food here is way over priced for the amount and quality. They are also extremely slow, it took over an hour to get our entré. The main waitress with the short hair doesn't speak English very well, so forget customizing your order, she won't understand you. They also forgot an entire order of Sashimi we had to take home with us because the food took so long to come. Luckily my other family member was still there so she brought it home for me. All in all, very disappointing, I would have expected better from actual Japanese owners (most sushi in Vancouver are Chinese owned). I recommend any of the Chinese sushi places on Lonsdale over this one without a doubt.
The black cod, salmon sashimi were excellent. The black cod was super flavourful, so soft and velvety. The sockeye salmon sashimi was such a beautiful colour and was very fresh. The aburi sea eel was good, but I was hoping for larger pieces of eel. I would definitely come here again to try some of their other specialties.
Good, genuine Japanese restaurant. You'll find plenty of Japanese restaurant around but this is the only true Japanese restaurant on the North Shore. Most others are operated by Chinese or Koreans. If you want authentic taste from the …
Quaint and authentic Japanese fare - mainly sushi and noodles. Staff were very friendly, like eating at a Ryoken in Japan. Good food, good prices
Favourite sushi place on the north shore. While it may be a bit more expensive than the average sushi place in North Van, you definitely getmore than you pay for in the quality of the food, and it's definitely not as pricey as going somewhere downtown. The staff is all extremely friendly and pleasant and are really accommodating.
Every time I eat here I am fully satisfied. The food quality is very good, the staff are friendly, and the prices are fair. Thanks for having me.
Amazing and thoughtful service! Fantastic flavors and a pleasant vibe to enjoy your meal! 100% worth the drive to North Van to experience. ????????
Nice little authentic neighborhood sushi place. We love coming here when we don’t want to travel far for sushi. They have a nice selection of boxes and appetizers that set them apart from other Vancouver sushi places I’ve been to. Their …
Recommend. We're from out of town and we wanted some good, fresh fish sushi. This place supplied perfectly and for on the cheap compared to where I'm from. Nice people. Great food. Low cost. Thank you
Finally found a restaurant in Vancouver that serves proper japanese food. Extensive menu and lovely staff.
Amazing! Found this place by accident. Everything was fresh and served quickly, staff was very friendly and professional. Will definitely be back!
Great food, quick service, fair prices.
Very cozy, very tasty, very nice stuff. Good, calm music. Beef teriyaki, 2 miso soups, 2 salads, Philadelphia roll, maki combo (16 pcs) = 30 CAD
Super nice staff and great food. It's always nice to be a new customer and see them treating regulars like family. Highly recommend the Vegetable Dragon!
Most authentic Japanese food in North Van. The duck soba is perfect rainy day food and took me back to Yamagata prefecture. Delicious.
Wonderful little neighborhood place. Super friendly Japanese staff and chefs. The usual fare in unassuming casual environment. The chicken kara-age is plump moist and delicious. The sashimi cut in generous portions and a selection of foreign and domestic beers makes it an ideal spot for a good meal in North Vancouver.
This place is hopping!! And for good reason. The food is fresh and delicious. The menu is quite large with lots of interesting items to choose from. Lots of comfortable seating and can do some larger parties...which is great. I will be back.
The matcha ice cream was great! Sushi and Una-don were tasty as well!
Free street parking. Cc accepted. Reservation accepted. Take out available. Friendly staff. Comfortable seating area. Sake tasting flights available. Decent food quality for the price paid.
Quaint little sushi place in North Vancouver. Sushi is fresh. Good quality for the price.
Best place ever. Go straight for the pacific roll. Had 6 rolls under 50$ so to the one star reviewer that said they were overpriced he probably went to the wrong restaurant. This place is AWESOME!
Delicious food with an extensive gluten free menu. The service can be a little bit hit and miss but they are very polite and generally the service is good.
Authentic sushi. their Cali roles use real crab. Noticable quality difference from other places.
Such excellent service and food quality, easy 5 stars. My favourite Japanese restaurant on the north shore!
Really good food and service!
Best experience at a sushi restaurant! All of the rolls were seasoned perfectly, fresh, and delicious! There was thought put into every item, and each ingredient seemed to be of high quality. Each employee was kind and warm, and our waitress was very attentive at the perfect moments, and very gracious. I wish I had asked her name, she was a bit older than the other waitresses with shoulder length hair. I can't give enough praise for my experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Dining in for lunch. Good selection of bento boxes with reasonable prices. Excellent service. Lots of parking.
I don't rate 5 stars often. Two reasons: One, There are so few places nowadays that warrant a 5 star rating. Two, I don't want everyone to know Sansho is awesome and contribute to it becoming so busy that I'll never get a table! It's already quite busy on the weekends... Read the other 4 and 5 star reviews. They are all accurate in my opinion.
A bit hidden away in the neighborhood but it's definitely one of the better Japanese places East of Lonsdale. Food was really good tasting and good value. Staff were extremely polite and friendly.
It's a great place. Great quality sushi, good service most of the time, and pretty good pricing.
Very nice food, clean and tidy with excellent and friendly service, at a surprisingly good price. One of the nicer Sushi places in town. Good recommendation from our friends, I recommend it too!
Absolutely love this place! Great service and fresh list that's constantly changing!
Great selection on menu. Personally, I think this is one of the best sushi restaurant in the north shore. Pricing is reasonable. Very friendly staff.
Great service, the lady waiting tables was wonderful. Fish was fresh, miso soup was awesome. Sansho signature roll was our fave.
Very nice place. Sansho has a nice relaxed atmosphere and is very clean. The food is fantastic, simple and delicious without being fussy. The best part of the place though is the service. The staff are friendly and attentive without being over bearing. We have been there when the place is empty and when it is packed at it is always the same great service. The price for the quality is also very reasonable.
The service was fine but I didn't eat in the actual restaurant, as we ordered to go. My bf had chicken teriyaki and I ordered a variety of rolls. Apparently the chicken teriyaki is the best he has ever had. Sadly I cannot say the same for the rolls. They were somewhat underwhelming to be honest. So teriyaki is a yes but rolls are a hard no.
Have come here many times and have never been disappointed! The food is always delicious, washrooms are always clean and the staff is very helpful and kind! A favourite!
Lovely Japanese reaturant, very clean, the staff are great! the food is reasonably priced and really tasty!
I only discovered Sansho after moving to the neighborhood a year ago, and it is an absolute gem of a restaurant! The staff is always very friendly and attentitive and the food is delicious. While they do have all the standard sushi menu items here, their other menu items such as their aburi, grilled fish sets, and udon are great as well. Highly recommended!!
Solid neighborhood sushi spot. Nothing too fancy, however they have good service and the meal was fresh (and affordable).
Great quality. Gluten free options which is rare in sushi places. The quality is worth the wait.
Tasty and authentic Japanese food, made by Japanese sushi chefs, at fair prices. Great service, and lots of space. Big bright windows!
Really great service and the food was really good too. Wife is Japanese and she was really impressed too... We'll be back for sure!
The best authentic Japanese food in North Vancouver. If you come here, get sashimi, they know how to pick and cut here. It's all Japanese people working here too. This is not a McSushi place, if that's what you're looking for. Really glad there's a good authentic Japanese restaurant in the area. Hope this place is around for a long time.
We just had the best takeout Japanese I've had on the north shore. Absolutely delicious
Of all the sushi restaurants I visit this place gets a A++ for the taste, quality and potions of Sashimi. I highly recommend the Gold Sashimi plate
Super tasty quality Japanese sushi. The quality and freshness is there and is the most important part of good sushi. Would recommend this place and will come again!
Fantastic service and food. Very fresh tasting ingredients :)
I love this place! The food and service are great. The place is very cute and has good ambiance, the cost is reasonable for the quality you get. I really appreciated that they provided a child plate for my kid without asking.
A hidden gem, food is good, price is on par with the Japanese sushi restaurants in downtown.
Hidden germ in Greater Vancouver! First, this establishment takes Entertainment coupon. The food is very tasty: teriyaki chicken was nicely grilled and to its perfection. Soy ramen was a bit too salty. Very friendly staff. Clean and easy to access location.
Awesome local Japanese restaurant. Everything is fresh and authentic. Highly recommended!
Fast service. Never insanely busy. Check it out if you like sushi. My favourite dish is the spicy agadashi tofu because the sauce is great and you can eat it unlike some whicb aren't good on their own.
Great Food , Great prices . What Can I ask more ?
Hospitable and attentive to us. I ordered the Sansho bento - good portion and pricing and the chicken teriyaki was delicious.
If you want a Japanese food experience that goes outside of the usual ~~sushi combo~~ kind of template — with all due respect to the incredible sushi that we have in Vancouver! — get over to North Van and try this place. They have a wide range of delicious Japanese dishes, and lots of different Japanese beers, sake, and shōchū. (They also do have sushi! But try some of their tonkatsu, or other such stuff.)
Sansho has been our go-to sushi restaurant on the North Shore for years. As a celiac family, finding sushi that’s not cross-contaminated can be tricky. Sansho has always gone above & beyond to be mindful of allergy, they have a gluten free menu and also offer gluten free soy sauce. Whether you dine in or take out, Sansho’s sushi has been consistently great for us. The only thing you need to be mindful of is slow service, but perhaps that’s just a reminder to slow down.
This restaurant was recommended to us and we liked that you didn't require a reservation, parking was free and easy to find, the prices were good and the food was SUPERB!! We tried a number of different rolls we had never tried and enjoyed all of them. The restaurant was clean, the staff helpful and there were lots of families of all ages eating there. It was a great experience and we will definitely return.
Love this place! We eat here at least once a week. The food is great, staff are friendly and restaurant is clean.
Good prices for the quality and great, friendly service.
Good price. Fresh sashimi. Loved their green tea cold soba. My kids loved the udon noodles. Will go back again.
A hidden gem. It's very difficult to find Japanese-owned/run sushi places, and this one is in a quaint little family neighbourhood on Queensbury just off Grand Boulevard, south of Loutet field. The restaurant is well-appointed. One side is filled with booths while the other side is open tables, perfect for families. The food is consistently good. We've been here at least 15 times and have never disappointed. For people who like udon, the beef one is an excellent choice. Kids who normally don't eat much polish off entire bowls. For those who like sushi, the chirashi sushi bowl shows off their fresh fish and other bits in all their glory. The rice is perfect. For those who like rolls, we've had both dynamite and tuna. The shrimp tempura inside was freshly fried, which adds to the texture of the roll. For those who like appetizers, the agedashi tofu, chicken yakitori, and goma-ae were bang on. For those who like teriyaki, get the dinner size because for the extra $4.45 you get miso soup, rice and even your choice of sashimi/tempura. Again, the tempura is fried to perfection. Every time. The piece de resistance is the Black Cod: it's a cooked dish, one of the more difficult ones to make, so have it at Sansho. Oh, they also have a sake sampler for only $9 but you'll have to try it for me since I'm always the driver.
Delicious food, friendly staff and very well priced. What more can you ask for? Thanks Sansho!
Food was both authentic AND delicious! Not bad prices; fresh, local sashimi; several unfamiliar dishes to try!
A rare find Japanese restaurant in the neighbourhood: reasonably priced for the quality. Service is a bit slow.
Please read until last !! I loved there before. But unfortunately, they changed owner. Taste is different when I visited there. Salty . Service is worst than before.must to wait longer more. I missing before.
Fresh food, busy place means people is coming back like us!. Great smiley staff. Good prices
Terrible. I know sushi and visited hundreds of places. Choose this one by rating as was nearby in the area. That was a big mistake. 1) Very slow service. They told us after took order that it will take LONG time, just to make some rolls. It looks like personal sleep. The chief was woman which is unusual for Sushi. 2) Quality was NONE, first time I've ever seen California with just rice around crab stick inside. It was just wow. More, I got stomach poison and pretty sure it was after dinner there. 3) 6 small pieces of poor quality rolls for overpriced charge? Where else 6 Cali cost you $4.5? Spent $40 for nothing. I better give them away than spend there. Came out hungry and didnt want to order more due to delay and poor quality 4) Atmosphere was poor. Busy place, no music at all. Again, most important is slow service, bad quality and overprice. Never go there again...
Best sushi in N.Van. A little off the beaten path but always fresh and beautiful presentation.
Reasonable prices, good food, fresh seafood, excellent service and keep very clean
Very good service. Tried sushi, sashimi and rolls. It was good. Hope they could ad some souse on the top. They only had wild salmon.
It was fantastic. Great service and the sushi was sublime. I'll be back Keep up the good work.
This place is delicious, but slow. Prices are alright. Don't come here if in a hurry
Tiny roles that taste fishy. Overpriced. Wine ‘glass’ was like a 2oz pour. Only reason they get two stars is that the service was ok.
Sansho - I have to break up with you and Ive been a regular customer since you opened. Your food is good. Your lunch service is good. But dinner? I have waited over an hour for food many times and still stayed loyal. I have stayed seated with 3 kids under 5 while ENDLESS take out orders left us hungry and restless for 90 minutes and did not complain. But when my husband comes home early for a special family dinner and you completely ignore us while serving multiple tables that came in 15 minutes after us? We do live in Vancouver - there are other sushi restaurants that would like our business. Do not go with kids unless you plan to plug them into a 90 minute DIsney movie. *****Edit: Sansho has improved its service and turn around by leaps and bounds since posting this review. The food is still outstanding and the service is now to match.
Authentic Japanese owned business. For local neighbourhood standard Overall 6/10 *Average North Shore foodies are not experimental when it comes to nihon food. Teriyaki chicken, California maki and yam maki are boring Food 6/10 Hot dishes are just lukewarm by the time it arrived on the table. No ikea dishes please, sushi served on white plates just made the food looks sad. Japanese clay dishes or wooden platform. The rice on the nigiri or maki has no taste (salt and vinegar) and mixed of undercooked and overcooked rice. They shapes are not equally proportional. Fresh grate wasabi will be ideal. All those creative rolls are for amateur to eat. Interior 6/10 Nice shoji but not cedar wood. The artificial green is just unnatural to dine in. The lighting is too strong on the sushi chef counter made the freshly sushi too warm. The bathroom needs to be fixed and flushed. Service 7/10 Nice staffs but lack of experiences. Customers shouldn't be asking constantly asking for water or tea. Tables are not clean right away. Servicing time too long. International Standard 4/10
This place is fantastic! On of the best Sushi restaurants on the north shore!
The sushi here is excellent and they are always accommodating to our family. However, the food takes awhile to come, so we order as soon as we get seated.
Very clean and high quality Japanese food. Rare/good specials from time to time.
Sansho is an amazing gem for the North Shore. High quality, authentic, delicious, good prices & friendly service. Sansho definitely shines when there's a plethora of mediocre Japanese restaurants everywhere.
Friendly staff, good quality food, can be a bit busy during lunch rush
Quality Japanese cuisine at a reasonable cost. Having spent time in Japan myself, I can tell you that this is the real deal. All different types of seafood is fresh, not just the tuna and salmon! By far the best Japanese food on the North Shore.
Great sushi. This restaurant is the best sushi restaurant on the north shore. The quality is very high and the food is always good. Lunch time is the best time to go as there are many lunch specials for reasonable prices. This is a restaurant owned and run by Japanese staff. You can expect quality over quantity here. After coming here the other cheap sushi restaurants on the north shore seem like low quality compared to this restaurant.
The only thing worth mentioning about this place is the cooked food. Apart from that I have no idea how people are giving this place anything over 2 stars. They don't even know how to cut the sashimi. It was served in chunks...quite a first …
Favourite sushi place ever. Great service and great food!
good quality and quantity. bit under-seasoned for my taste. It might be that the salad that came prior to bento box was over-powering. uni was great though.
Good prices and good food by real Japanese workers and owner. It gets very very busy with a lot of people ordering take out, so patience is key at the restaurant. Otherwise, it's a nice quiet family feeling restaurant. Theres a check-in program to reward visitors after a few visits.
Very reasonable prices and a lot of variety in their bento box
Apologies for the half eaten food pictures. We were too hungry and the food looked and tasted too good. …
Update: still amazing sushi but prices have drastically increased and I can't justify going out of the way for these guys anymore - the amount of time it takes them to get your order finished can be trusting too. A hidden spot on Queensbury that has the BEST quality sushi! Love this little place!
Good price, good quality. I really enjoyed eating here
Very affortable prices and good quality sushi. Also the service is very good you get tea for free
Amazing food at amazing prices, lunch cost us each ~$14 and left us more than satisfied.
Food was very delicious and fresh sushi. This place lives up to the reviews. Thanks for having us Sansho Sushi! Domo arigato. :)
This is a cute and authentic restaurant with high quality sushi. Will definitely be back! It’s worth the visit!
Excellent Gluten-free Menu. They must have figured(correctly!) I was staying at a hotel nearby, as they sent me home with a "to-"go" cup of GF Soy Sauce! Will definitely be back the next time I am in the area
The quality of both the food and the service were great. Their gluten free alternatives were excellent. 5/5
