You will be able to see the reviews of real people who are purchasing the services of Jägerhof Restaurant (Restaurant) in North Vancouver area (Canada).
At this moment the business gets a rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an feddbacks average is basically the best one, and it is based on a high number of opinions, so we may think that the rating is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to place scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of German restaurant.
Jagerhof platter with German Beer made me soooo happy. Lots of care put into their food, and it shows. Great place to sit with your friends - very comfortable and homey.
This place has been around for a great many years, which itself says a lot. Classic Bavarian decor and atmosphere and consistently good food. My favorite is their basic schnitzel, with pan fried potatoes with red cabbage.
Lovely a evening, great food, we had reserved the veal schnitzel. Always as pleasure to dine there!
My friends and I loved the atmosphere. It felt like I was back in Germany.???? Live band that played acoustic jazz was also amazing. The food was great but sort of on a pricier side.
Simple German food made tasty. We were introduced to this place by our friends and we are grateful they did! I highly recommend their schnitzels that, if you're familiar with Japanese food, reminded us of very tender tonkatsu. The various sausages are all very different (but delicious!) tasting and have a nice snap to them. The atmosphere is old time kitsch complete with live piano music (I doubt every night). The staff even let us out on to the sidewalk to view a lunar event. The special sauce is dangerously addictive and rich. After finishing my meal and leaving some of the sauce in my cup, the rest of the people at my table descended upon it hollowing out the thick cream from its vessel until there was nothing left. When you are done, be careful who you tell!
The food, atmosphere and service was amazing. A wonderful night out for us!
This place brings me so much joy. It's cozy, the owner is really nice and takes care of his patrons, and the food is delicious and comforting. We go here for special occasions and really treat ourselves to delicious schnitzel.
Still a great environment. We love the schnitzel and the braised beef special. We were delighted to have live music.
My husband and I made a dinner reservation at this restaurant few days ago and it was one of the most pleasant experiences ever for us ???? The owner Christopher really knows how to make a lasting impression. He was wonderful to talk to on the phone and in person and made sure we were comfortable in our seating. Even when we were leaving, he made conversation with us and wished us good night. He really went over and beyond in enhancing our experience. Our server, Melanie was a delight. She was extremely sweet and let us take our time with our dinner, without rushing us. She made great conversations with us too. The live music was extremely enjoyable. Lastly, the food and drinks were superb as well. We are already looking forward to dining here again. Thanks guys for an awesome time ????
Delicious meal, friendly staff. Huge portions, flavourful and traditional schnitzel keeps us coming back year over year.
Quaint little spot in North Vancouver. Very old school German eatery vibes. The dinner plater and the onion tart we ordered was ok and the imported beer selection is great. Atmosphere is amazing but I wish the food could match it.
This place is great! We go there for years and it never disappoints. The food and atmosphere are great especially when there's live music. We love Johnny Piano! Schnitzel and beer there and life is good.
We had a very friendly server and we left quite satisfied.
Amazing food and fair price. Such a cute place! Friendly atmosphere. Service was lovely. Live music was very good. Do bring cash to tip the musicians when you leave (if you go on days with live music). We did not have cash on us at the time …
They had great fast service and food. The German food was the best and most authentic experience I have found outside of Germany, Austria and Switzerland! The owner was very nice and they had live german music playing that was very good! I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Vancouver!
Dinner
It was 3/4 full but only 2 servers and obviously they are having a hard time juggling between all the customers. I had to wait 20 minutes for my glass of wine and when I asked my server, he forgot about it. Food was fine but again we waited a long time.
Great place to go for authentic German food. Schnitzels are awesome and they have a fun selection of German beer. Perfect place to warm up after a cold day.
Entering this restaurant makes you feel like you're stepping into Germany during a simpler time. The owner is often found sitting next to a live pianist singing German music, but stops, to get up and greet customers as they enter. And he food is delicious. I would highly recommend the Expo schnitzel. All of the servers are friendly and helpful. A great place to go when you're very hungry and want comfort food.
Jägerhof is one of the more unique - close to authentic European restaurants I have been to in Vancouver. Its is not pretentious yet it does feel that you have travelled outside of Canada somehow. All the walls are filled with old style …
I picked up a huge order for myself and my family a few days ago. We all wanted to try something new. To our disappointment, the dishes were over salted, none them were labeled so we had to figure out what was what and it seemed that they used frozen vegetables in a few of the dishes. I paid close to $200 for this order and am shocked at the quality of the food I received. Would not recommend.
Cute ma and pop German restaurant. Looks like uncle Gunter's basement! I love it. Pretty authentic dishes and very homey. Love the nights with live music, has a real family feel.
Very beautiful restaurant, good beer and german soulfood, thank you!
Just lovely! Came here for dinner and had some fabulous Schnitzel and spatzle with a beer. There was an old guy playing the piano and the owner came out to chat with us. A fabulous dinner time!
The name makes this sound like a neighbourhood pub, but that's not really how I'd describe this place. This is a charming little place with tons of character, great service, and hearty food. You can tell it's loved by a host of loyal locals - I'd highly recommend reserving if you want to be sure to get a table. They've got a fun imported selection of drinks, and probably the best Schnitzel I've had. We were also lucky to enjoy our meal to the sounds of Gentleman Johnny playing away on the piano in the corner.
First time going there with a few colleagues from work and the food was excellent. I highly recommend their Jagerhof platter. Beers were also very good and so was their service.
Jägerhof is always at the top of my list when I want to go somewhere for a special occasion. Such a unique dining experience.
I love Swiss and German food and have grown up with this style of cooking. It was exciting to see a Swiss German restaurant during my visit to Vancouver and I was definitely looking forward to tasting what they had. I ordered the onion tart to start followed by the roulade with spatzle and braised red cabbage. The onion tart was quite plain and seemed kind of stale. The cabbage was decent and authentically seasoned. The spatzle were so small and skinny and tasted like it was just reheated in water and dumped on the plate, lacking any seasoning or traditionally sautéing in butter. I also found the roulade beef dry, surrounding a soggy flavorless pickle with a sauce that barely resembled a proper Demi Glace. Although the food heavily lacked, service was great.
The food was excellent and the place is run by some really lovely people. We were here as a treat and to celebrate getting a new job. From starter to dessert everything was perfect.
Authentic German fare and experience! Great food, Authentic live music.
Amazing! 4 of us dined here and ate everything on our plates. Absolutely a must to go dine at. We will be back 100% when we visit North Vancouver again. Mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm so yummy1
The new owners have done a great job. On Fridays live music and all. The food is excellent and the service is great...almost. They are victims of their own success as the service quality drops when they are super busy, which spoils the whole experience. Maybe on Fridays and busy days they should add more staff, then they would get my 5 stars. UPDATE: we just went with some friends on a Saturday night and the service has improved quite a bit. The food is still great and their beer selection is fantastic! We will keep coming back. Just arrive early so you can find parking as the area is full of restaurants and parking is scarce.
Amazing atmosphere and food! Best schnitzel I've ever had. Christopher is also great to talk to and really makes me want to come back and support a local restaurant, especially during the pandemic.
Just ordered take out so we could enjoy Jagerhof at home. Delicious! Juicy, tasty and generous portion size. Now we know we can get take out here we'll be back again!
Reminded me of my time in austria and germany . great music. also super authentic food.. i am goin back for sure
The food is delicious for a reasonable price. The service there is amazing. I can not remember well but I think they gave me a discount or free desert. Live music. Wonderful atmosphere. Definitely coming back for the next birthday or big celebration. If you’re in the mood for slightly fancier dinner with friends or family, highly highly recommend.
Stumbled across this place last night and what a treat it was! As someone who grew up in Germany, these are easily the best Schnitzel and Spaetzle you will find in Vancouver (even better than some I've had in Germany...). Fresh, non greasy and flavourfull. The staff are welcoming and their specials reflect an understanding of true german and bavarian style food. It is a bit on the pricier side, but for the quality of the food makes up for that. Will definitely be back!
We always enjoy ourselves here and visit about once a year. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and delicious schnitzel. I absolutely love the potato and sauce that comes with the jagerschnitzel. The charcuterie plate was a bit too basic for our taste though. The Festbock is delicious. All in all a great evening.
We absolutely love this place!!! We go there all the time and the service and the food are always amazing! Everything about this place is just spot on, from the decor to the music, especially when there's live music. The owner of the place is the nicest guy! Thank you so much!
They had live music the night I went! The vibe of the owner, waitresses, and place overall was very fun and kind of loud but in a way I liked. Food was also delicious.
Service was great. Our waiter was very personable, and prompt. Carried on a conversation in Italian with my mother in law on her birthday. Wait staff sung while piano played for her. Schnitzel was unreal, portions were large. Spatzle was delicious. Beer selection also great. We will be back.
Best Schnitzels ever. Surely saves a trip to far-away Germany. Fitting decorations, friendly staff, fantastic food. Must go restaurant for anyone craving German food.
Amazingly good food , good service, and nice European atmosphere.
All I can say is WOW. I visited Germany for a month earlier this year, and this place brought me back to the dinners I had in Munich beer gardens. The sauerkraut was absolutely delicious, as was my Thuringian bratwurst. This place is the only restaurant I've found that gets the mustard right, they make it just like the Germans. Service was adequate, fast and friendly. Would love to come back one day!
I just got schnitzel take out what's for dinner tonight and it was amazing. The girls at the restaurant or fabulous and kind. Food had a lot of flavor and the meat was tender not dry I'm glad I went
The whole experience was great, the decor, staff, and of course, food. Went on a Sunday dinner and enjoyed some live piano. The trio sausage was very good. As well as the trio chocolate later. Had a veal schnitzel as main course (was one of the sporadic items not in menu)
Service
It was a busy Friday night, end of November when I visited friends in Vancouver. Our friend took us there. Including 1 baby and 2 small children, 4 adults. Even though it was a last minute reservation call, they squeezed us in! Very lively atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was very tasty and I looove it! They had a sign about live music though, the performance got delayed that we couldn’t catch that.
It's hard to tell from the outside, but this restaurant has great atmosphere: it's warm and cozy (in the literal sense, not like when people say "cozy" as a polite way for small -- it truly feels like you're in from the cold after a day skiing on the Alps). Looks authentic for the region of its food, and evidently lots of others appreciate that too - it was packed - every time full within 30 minutes of opening. The reason for 3 stars was two items: one, I found nothing remarkable at all about the dish I ordered (beef); and second, the service was quite stretched. Although our server was very friendly, we had a hard time getting her attention for the bill as she seemed to be covering a huge number of tables. That said, it was a weekend, and based on the reviews regarding the food, I'd go back and give another dish a try.
Good place for German and Swiss food. Pork chop recommended. Couldn't try the beer, but next time I will.

Dinner
Best schnitzel I've ever eaten. I recommend the JaggerSchnitzel. Amazing atmosphere, With Johnny playing piano and the owner Christopher singing; the place has a cozy and authentic feel.
The food was absolutely fantastic but most importantly, the staff was wonderful when ordering & picking up!
Authentic German resturaunt as good the bests in Germany. Genuinely nice staff. The owner is actively running the resturaunt, greeting customers, asking for feedback, helping out staff, very rare in Vancouver. Amazing food.
Amazing and authentic German food here! Décor is good and the service was excellent. Portion sizes are appropriately German (they were big portions). Good selection of European beers and wine. There is free street parking nearby. It is also close to the Shipyards in North Van, so one could catch an amazing view of downtown after dinner.
Good home cooking. Big plates of food. Good atmosphere with one of the owners, Christopher, serving us with genuine hospitality.
Very friendly staff and delicious German meals. They have a smoky beer there, go try it!
First off, the Jager schnitzel is fantastic. But what's more is the environment. We arrived with two children in tow and we were greeted warmly and seated quickly. All efforts have been made by the restaurant to maintain sanitary practice during covid, including easily accessible hand sanitizer, social distancing of tables, sanitization of menus between use and sanitization of the debit machine (slows down payment just touch, don't you dare complain about it). The music, ambience and people were warm and inviting. This was the first restaurant I've been to since COVID, and they overdelivered on making the experience perfect. I have no doubt that we'll return. Thank you to the owner and the wait staff, you made our day.
Excellent and tasty authentic German/Swiss meals and friendly service. Good selection of European beer, as well as wine pairing recommendattions. Reservations recommended.
My favorite restaurant in the entire province. I'd recommend going on either Friday or Saturday, one of those two days (i can't remember which one) has live music which really adds to the experience. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant, the food, the staff, the atmosphere.
Great atmosphere, service and some lovely food. Pianist playing some fine tunes in the background was a welcome bonus. Only 4 stars as the decor could do with an update.
Sick of same old franchise settings, try Jagerhof. Great ambiance, excellent service, the owner is on the floor and is a hoot. Food is great and they have live music- there was a piano player playing rag-time and jazz last time we were there.
Friendly service. Owner/manager has great customer service. I like his German. I would say it's the best German food in lower mainland but I also recognize there's not a lot out there. This is not my first visit and wont be my last.
Definitely will be visiting again. So good ????
Charcuterie plate needs major improvement, it is too expensive for what you get. Schnitzel is so so also. Live music is pretty good, but that’s about it. Sorry.
As swiss i have to say they need to learn to do a proper Cordon-bleu. There should be more cheese and ham in it, not just in a small part in the middle, so i'd recommend to order the Schnitzel. But the meat was tasty, Spätzle also. Service and waitress were fast and friendly. Also a nice wine list. Will come again.
Amazing Bavarian food! Large portions, lots of meat, and incredible sauces. Also a great selection of European beer. Service was very friendly, and atmosphere was just like a small traditional German restaurant - very cozy. Reservations are a must.
Authentic German Food, could NOT be any better. Brilliant , fantastic service. Great Atmosphere. Desserts amazing. I have nothing but amazing things to say , and : Keep up the good work you all and thank you for having us and wining and dining us. )
The food is constantly well prepared and flavorful, workers hands out good customer service. I liked how clean it is and vibes. I highly recommend this place.
Usually this place is a favorite treat for special celebrations. We love the authentic German cuisine that we grew up with. Tonight though, we were very disappointed. We made a reservation for 5:00 which is when the resturant opens for dinner service. We arrived a couple minutes early at 4:55 and waited outside, 5 adults and a bundled up baby. I tried the door but it was locked, looked inside and made eye contact with someone (so they knew we were there). At 5:00 they didn't open, at 5:03 they finally let us in, with the gentleman greeting us still in his coat. I believe we were there for our 5:00 reso before he was!! As a courtesy, I try to arrive a couple minutes early to ensure I am on time. I appreciate the same thing in return. I get that they couldn't let us in early, but seeing as they knew we were there and it was -1 degrees out, we should have been inside at 5:00 (can you tell I'm German ;)). I have worked in resturants and you are always supposed to be 15 mins early to get set up and ready for your guests. Anyhow, we were the first and only table in, music doesn't start til 7 but we had a little one in the group and wanted to make an early night. We order starters (2 cold salads) and our mains. The house salad was pretty bland, not worth the 9$ in my opinion (just herb greens and vingarette, hardly any other veg and a tiny piece of shaved parmesan). It took forever to get out mains. I'm not sure what time they came at, but I remember looking at the time at 6:10 thinking, "wow, did the cook not start til 5:30 or some thing?". For and extra 2$ on your schnitzel yout get two bites of spaetzle. This time the spaetzle was very yellow in colour, super salty and incredibly tiny. I remember it being smaller style here, but this was not tasty at all. It was so incredibly salty, from someone who usually salt and peppers my food. The service was really slow too. I don't know why it took so long for our hot food to come out. Only half our table was cleared, we had to ask for the bill because we knew it would be slow getting out of there. It was a really disappointing experience, and doesn't make me want to make the trip out to North Van again.
The food here was really, really bad and the staff including owner were unfriendly and unprofessional. Don’t waste your time.
Went here last night with my wife. We called at 5pm, spoke with a kind fellow, and booked a table for 8pm. When we arrived, we were greeted by the live band, and took the table in the corner next to the kitchen. The decorations are a bit of a marvel; particularly the World War 2 era telephone. The restaurant was at capacity. Our server was Heather, and she was quick to bring us some drinks and get the order started. We ordered 2 Schnitzels: Cordon Bleu w/ Mushroom sauce on the side Dolce Brusco And a Caesar salad appetizer. The salad came quickly. We loved the croutons and exploded capers. Once we finished, we pushed the plate to the side, and the rest of our food followed shortly. The Cordon Bleu with mushroom sauce is excellent. It doesn't come with the sauce on the menu listing, so this was a modification i requested that they made happen without a fuss. It is too much food to finish in one sitting so i took half of it home, and enjoyed it later that night :) My wife loved her Brusco and the spatzle that accompanied it. There was a guy running the food and greeting everyone who seemed to be in charge, so I ran over to thank him before we left. Great experience and will be back soon.
This has become my favoirite place for cozy family dinners and friends gatherings. I am impressed with the quality of food, it is more like home made and not overly fried or deep-fried like other places. The atmosphere is very warm with piano live music, and stuff is friendly and welcoming. Love it !
Great German food, as authentic as it gets. Make sure you get the sauerkraut. The owner makes sure you feel welcomed. Great environment with live music few days during the week...
Great ambience. Good food. Not so friendly service. If you know the menu and know what you want then I think it'll be a great experience. But unless you know the menu or have studied in advance then it might not be the case. In our case I'm not familiar to German food and our waitress didn't seem to be accustomed to that. Also, make sure you are aware of the time limit currently, because we missed to order for desert because we had to leave.
Next time I'm in Vancouver I guarantee I'm coming back here. The music, food, and drinks were fantastic. The owner was beyond hospitable, and we literally had the best waitress I've ever had the good fortune of meeting. Thank you for a lovely, unforgettable experience.
The food was excellent! The service was amazing. The staff was very friendly. The jagerhof schnitzel was in a league if it own. I enjoyed every bite!
I can’t believe it took us 37 years to visit this place! What a great restaurant. The staff were super friendly and the service was great. The food was outstanding and big portions! Their take on Black Forest Cake has ruined me for any other. And to top it all off, we were entertained by a very talented fellow on the piano. We will be back, as we want to try everything on their menu. It was a wonderful anniversary dinner adventure!
Had their Bavarian Platter specials for the night with their crispy schnitzel, wild boar bratwurst and venison bratwurst, delicious! Johnny was in house tonight for some live music, what a fun, packed night!
Awesome spot! Really enjoyed our meal - great service and very good authentic food. Will definitely be back for the live music!
The Jager Schnitzel is awesome! (comes with Mushroom sauce). Great for German food and the live music and decor give it an authentic German feel.
One of my favorites restaurants on the north shore. Always amazing service with unbeatable food. The atmosphere is so authentic accompanied by great live music.
We visit this little restaurant at least once a year. It's simple, no frills menu is perfect on a cold night. The homemade spaetzle is a must. Good fiid, friendly staff, and live music. Just perfect for when you're in the mood for something different.
Not only the food, but the atmosphere was also amazing and authentic. Live music was the cherry on top. A little pricier than expected but you pay for the experience.
I really enjoyed the experience of the restaurant. Pretty different from anywhere else in the neighbourhood. However, I didn't find the food all that spectacular. Good but not great. The beer selection was really good though! And we had the best egg nog ice cream for dessert. I'd definitely recommend everyone give it a try.
We went there for the first time on a Friday night. We fell in love with it very soon. The food was perfect and tasty. Atmosphere was awesome. Everything was perfect. If you’re a soup lover, try theirs. You’ll love it.
I am German myself, and loved the atmosphere and the authentic food. Good selection of beer as well.
Live music, good food, good service
we love this place. This is the place we go to when we have relatives in from Germany or for my sons birthday or other special occasions. The food is always fantastic and the service is always great. Christopher Always remembers our family and greets us every time. I recommend this place if you want great german cuisine.
Nice place-ambience, delicious food. ????????????
If you like schnitzel and german beer along with some good tunes this is the place. The staff and owner are very friendly too.
Love European vibe inside. German beers are wonderful, and you cannot find anything similar in Vancouver. Food quality is also great!
Great authentic German cuisine. Friendly service. They are committed to provide a unique dinning experience. The schnitzels are awesome and the portions generous. I'll be back !
The vegan options here are great and the portions are just about right, although maybe a little small for a super hungry person. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or a casual meal with friends. The service was excellent, fast, and attentive. Overall, it's a great place for a good meal
Decent schnitzels. They are making Wiener schnitzel out of pork instead of veal, but it is reasonably good and tasty. Absolute must have are chocolate truffles. Ask for homemade chocolate truffles (they are part of some desert that they serve) - those are 5 star without any question
Best German restaurant in Vancouver hands down! From live music to great food it's incredible ????...the pork hock is amazing and cabbage and sourkraut are almost as good as your grandmas
Giving them a 9/10 in reality here, I absolutely loved their food, it reminds me of my childhood as I was always served traditional German food. They have very friendly staff and had live music when I was there which gave the establishment a very authentic feel. Only reason for the 9 instead of 10/10 is that nobody came to ask us how our meal was, not even once. It isn't that big of a deal to me but I would like to be at least asked once just so it feels like they care how they are doing and whatnot. Either than that it was absolutely amazing! Keep it up! *Try their Heffeweizen beer selection, it's pretty A+*
The veal schnitzel was phenomenal. So tender and tasty. Legit German food. I was in Germany in June/July and Jagerhof made me feel like I was back there. Highly recommended.
Amazing food Great atmosphere Music is great
We had an amazing experience and meal tonight! The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable! We all ordered different Schnitzel dishes and they were all outstanding! I ordered the smoked rauchbier from Bamberg and the owner was super excited when I mentioned I had had the same beer in Bamberg Germany ! The atmosphere is relaxing ,authentic and made us feel like we were back in Germany! You can tell the food is homemade. The live piano music was an added delight! I can confidently say you will be very pleased with anything you order! We can’t wait to go back!
Small and cozy restaurant that depicts the atmosphere of a typical European restaurant. Food is really good and the prices are more than honest compared to their original prices in Germany/Switzerland/Austria. The live music was more than appreciated. If you are staying in Vancouver and need a piece of home, or if you're just curious about European cuisine, this is the place to go to!
Best German food in north van! Owners are fantastic and super nice! Also perfect for take out !
Best schnitzel in town! The owner goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is authentic and your food is perfect! I'll be coming back for sure!
Lovely place to go for a nice authentic German meal on Lonsdale. The owner is a friendly fellow and it's nice to have a dining option that is as unique is this one is. Live music on the weekends as well adds to a very appealing atmosphere.
Best Schnitzel ever and true German hospitality. Fast and friendly service. Do not miss out on the delicious desserts. Wine list offers a good variety of wines. We have been a table of 8 and everything was perfect. Owner operated restaurant that goes the extra mile, highly recommended
The food was delicious and very authentic. Would highly recommend this restaurant as the staff and the owner were welcoming. Will come back here again with friends and family.
Authentic German cuisine and decor. Friendly attentive staff. Food is very delicious and the menu has a nice variety of choices.
Me and my Family spent our Holidays in Vancouver and at the last weekend we decided to try a German restaurant as "Great Final". My wife and me ordered a "Schnitzel" and our children a "Swiss Rösti". My waiter "Heathir" was very polite and ambitious. Firstly, we got a very small Rösti- panel for 17$. Secondly, we received a Schnitzel, served by a child. It had holes and we were worry about the fact that a child is serving us the expensive meal. I don't wanna have a look into the kitchen. And the meals are too expensive. Finally, we had an annoying last night in Vancouver. Best regards Rammy
It's just the best German restaurant in Vancouver! Cozy atmosphere, delicious food and awesome service. The owners truely care about your experience and are able to make you feel at home in their restaurant. Just amazing.
Very generous and tastey meals. We did Sunday Brunch and everyone went home happy and satisfied.
Incredible staff, amazing live music from Johnny Piano, and delicious food. Not many places like this left in the city. Definitely going back
We had one of our favorite experiences at a restaurant here on a Friday night. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! There was singing and piano and lot of people having a good time. I would highly recommend it on a Friday and Saturday evening!
It was amazing experience here. Came here with my German colleague and did enjoyed my time. He said it's very close to German food so I am going by his word.
My favorite German restaurant! Live music on Friday. Always feel like part of the family when eating here. Best schnitzel around!
Have been wanting to try Jagerhof for a while as it’s always busy and smells amazing! My boyfriend and I stopped by this week and we were so happy. Food was amazing, live music and hospitality was on point and knowledgeable.
Very Lovely atmosphere with a wonderful pianist. We were a group of 6. Some gave 5 stars and some 3. There, the 4 stars. Food is great. I would suggest to add a server on Fridays summer nights. It was a bit tiring to ask a few times the same thing or to try talk to the server before he ran away.
Excellent authentic German food. Friendly service. Good atmosphere with music from the 50ties and 60ties. Convenient location in walking distance from sea bus.
Wonderful restaurant, friendly staff, delicious food! Johnny - playing piano on the weekends - is the best! What a fantastic experience!
Excellent German fare and beer selection. Great value for money and its like you're in the owners home.
I call this special restaurant every couple of days since I enjoy the special air that is exist in this place. The staff is extraordianrillyremarkably attentive and well trained. The service is extraordinarily rapid. Not to mention, the food they cook is magnificent. I have been there often and I was always pleased. The price is reasobable. I recommend this place to to everybody.
Always excellent. Great food and service
Dodged from the rain and lured by the live gypsy swing music, turned our normal, wet Vancouver Saturday evening into a "Midnight in Paris" experience. German sausages, schnitzel, pork hocks flavored just right. Complemented by simple, slightly sour sauerkraut and red cabbage to balance out the oily meats. Make sure you save space for dessert! We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh made pear tart tatin and black forest cake. Not to mention, they carry imported German beers! We are definitely going back on another Saturday evening.
Very elegant and accessible spot. They serve big meals and for reasonable prices. I enjoyed the meals a lot and the staff members were super amiable and chatty. Recommended.
Great German food selection. Delicious selection of freshly cooked food, and great service. German beers, and super surroundings. The owner is very welcoming, and it's only five minute walk from the seabus. Good prices as well.
Delicious food, very good service. Not cheap, but really great server, excellent German beer and wine selection. Also a lovely ambiance including great live German polka music.
Great atmosphere! Delicous food! Very friendly staff!
Service
Really good service and very authentic German food for the most part. Too bad they didn't celebrate Octoberfest. Maybe next year.
Good vibe, live music, schnitzel was good but the spatzle was like scrambled eggs. Definitely an interpretation of German classics.
Quality food and reasonable price
I really enjoyed my visit here. Great food, awesome vibe. Went there on a sat night and it was too busy, thus service is a bit slow. Live musician that night was awesome too! ????
Its nice to have a meal earlier in the evening with a couple of glasses of wine, great little room not too over crowded and noisy. A piece of Germany and the staff are just great to talk to. I had an early holiday dessert to finish my meal.
Amazing Bavarian food, sausage, schnitzel, and pork chops. Everything we had was excellent. Service was great and extremely friendly and very personal. Will be back for sure.
The food was quite original, nicely presented and tasty. Nice atmosphere and good service. My only disappointment was the deserts. I would recommend the place definitely, but skip the desert.
We had an amazing Birthday dinner for my husband. Great food, great service and great music. My husband left his 70$ bottle of rum that was a gift behind and the manager called us to let us know. They didn’t have to do that and we are very grateful. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience???? Tara
I love this place and I know you will, too. Do yourself a favour and eat here.
Great Eggs Benedict for SundayBrunch! I have also been for dinner and the Mushroom Schnitzel was delicious!!!
This is a great place. Had the platter which is a bit of everything. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely going to visit again.
Very nice food, and the staffs are so friendly!
Super authentic German restaurant, good amount of choices with very unique dishes. Totally recommended
This is the place to go for authentic schnitzel and German beer with live music on weekends. It made me feel like I was back in Austria in a local restaurant in Tyrol.
My very first time experiencing German food. It was so delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. German girlfriend said the food was spot on for authenticity
Great food, busy even with Covid-19, good food, attentive emale server, clean, quick kitchen execution, great beer selection. Love it.
Wasn't sure about this place walking by, but decided to give it a shot. It was incredible. Ordered three dishes (only one schnitzel), and all three were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Lucked out and got a wine that complimented the meals incredibly well. But the best part of the whole experience was the crew running the place. The waitress was from Austria, and such a delight to talk with. The owner came and talked for a bit and gave some recommendations for the stay - ended up staying until they closed - was a great evening. Will visit this place again for certain!
I used to live in Vancouver till 2003 and knew about this place but never went. Now back for a 10 days visit, I decided to visit with my close friend Claude on my first night. Made reservation with Christopher 2 weeks before. He is actually the owner. He welcome us at 6pm and assigned us a nice table for 2. He checked our ID’s and vaccine passports. The place was already busy and at the peak had 35-40 guests. Melanie was our server. Christopher is also a server. She has been there for 6 years. She explained the dishes of the day and was very professional and friendly. We started with German beers, then ordered the escargots (($12.95) with artisan bread basket ($4.) Delicious! Claude could have had more garlic in it. He had jager schnitzel and I ordered the classic Wiener schnitzel. His mushroom sauce was on the side and I took some for my spatsle. We ordered the half a litre of red. No disappointment there. We ordered another glass of red instead of dessert . A wonderful evening! Will return again with my Bavarian friend Ditmar.
Cousy have Jansen Greek food if you’re interested in schnitzel or other traditional dramatic dishes this is a great place to come for a meal that’s as good as home cooked. And while you’re here try a Hugo
This is my new favourite place. The food is incredible and It’s truly hard to find service this good in Vancouver. Great experience.
We have been meaning to come here for a long time, but it's not always possible to drop in because its so popular, and I can see why now! After our first visit, we had to bring our parents from South Surrey to dinner there, which we did the following weekend. The staff are warm and friendly, especially the owner Christopher, who came by our table personally each time. He even popped on the microphone and sang with the gentleman playing the piano! The ambience is great, especially when the piano is going, and we all loved our Schnitzel meals and the decadent chocolate sampler dessert to top it off.
Meal type
Our food was ok. However both ladies ordered a chicken dish: all sauce hardly any chicken at all . We should of said something.
Excellent food, great service.
This restaurant is under new ownership and management and has been improved incredibly! Everything on the menu is made fresh in house and I love the decor. You don't feel like you're in North Vancouver at this restaurant! The decor sticks very true to it's European roots. The chicken cordon bleu schnitzel and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Wants to make me relocate from Ontario! The food is real and authentic and the staff and owner are wonderful! Well done you set the standard by which all restaurants should arrive to achieve. All this and not outrageous prices either. I will be back!
This place is so lovely and the owner is so friendly and kind. Me and my friend ended up in this restaurant just by walking by it and I couldn't be happier with our sudden decision! The food is also really good. Definitely going back!
A cumulatively amazing experience consisting of authentic Bavarian cuisine, an excellent selection of German beer, and a talented pianist. The ambiance was great and I would highly recommend!
One of my favourite restaurants in the Longsdale strip. Service is always great, schnitzels are the best this side of Germany, variety of other awesome dishes, Beer and wine, some great desserts, all the ingredients for a wonderful evening.
Great atmosphere... Cozy German restaurant with live music on Saturday. Service was excellent... It is recommended to make reservation on Saturday, because it gets pack. We got the sampler plate... Which has almost everything, I am not big fan of schnitzel, the sausage is soft, and pork chop was smoked all in one plate. The the signature was the pork leg, I would prefer the skin more crunchy but good overall
I tried the German menu for my first time there. The restaurant was well decorated and very comfortable. So I ordered a "Swiss Rösti" for 17$. Waiting a long time I received an about 5 Inches ( diameter ) big peace of potato. It tasted not bad but I became not fed up. All in all, I payed 30$ for a half of a potato and a shot of Jägermeister. Am I expecting too much for 30$? I am convinced - I do not. Best regards Peter
Absolutely Fantastic! Old world cooking and service. Not the "out of the box' fair you receive from the brand name restaurants. Had a fantastic time cannot say enough good things them.
This is such a fun place to dine!! My hubby and I went here with our girls to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary!! We were thrilled to get the table at the window!! They had a band called the Bavaria Boys playing that were fantastic and every once and a while the owner will go and sing with them...he has a fantastic voice!! The food is delicious. My 10 yro had the Wiener Schnitzel and loved it!! Big portions. I had the Cordon Bleu Schnitzel and it was decadent and delicious!! My hubby had the Special and loved it. The Ceasar Salad my youngest had was fresh and yummy!! We all had dessert...the Chocolate Mousse is one of the best I have ever tasted and the Black Forest cake with the drunken cherries is the bomb!! This can be a fun date place or family place...it really checks all the boxes!! Service is great!!
This placed is a little tucked away so it is hard to see just by passing but it is definately worth going into they serve some very tasty german style dishes and I wish I could have sat down and ate their food all night! They also have great beers and wines to pair off with your hardy meals. The point is you should go. They have live music some days aswell. Juat get going!
Spatzle like oma used to make it! I love authentic german food, if you do too this is the place for you. Staff was fantastic. We were greeted outside the restaurant by the friendly owner who invited us in and treated us like family. Our server was a very friendly Austrian woman who made us laugh and had a few great suggestions to compliment our mains. Prices were fair for the large portions, you will leave feeling nice and full. I will definitely be going there again! Cant wait to try the schnitzel next time :)
This long time family owned restaurant in Lower Lonsdale is a little gem. Reservations are highly recommended. It has a fun European ambiance but it is dated inside for decor. The schnitzel is definitely your go to menu item as this is what they do best. The service was friendly and efficient. The meals are fairly priced. They offer a nice variety of European beers that you can’t normally get at other restaurants. They are doing a good job of Covid protocols which we appreciated. Just be prepared that tables are a little close together with no barriers in between. Parking is a bit challenging in the area so plan ahead and weekends are very busy so make a reservation for sure. Top off your evening with their very unique black forest cake dessert option
Very nice place with good quality food and friendly staff.
Service is good, food are delicious, really tasty! Definitely will go back again even it’s a long way
It's a good German food place with an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was delicious. The ambiance was nice
Delicious and authentic German, Austrian and Swiss food! We came for brunch on a Sunday and there was live piano music. Ordered the Jagerhof platter with slow smoked pork chop and the Swiss Rosti with crisp potato pancake, smoked trout and a side of spatzle. They were all delicious, and the spatzle was freshly made and so fluffy (best spatzle I've had). For drinks, we had the dopplebock and Hugo cocktail. The restaurant is quaint and cozy, with decor that transports you back in time. The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!
The owner Chris is terrific host! The food is always good and they have some great unique German beers on the menu.
Perfect experience! I went in just because I was hungry and curious, end up having one of the best meals of my live. The food, the decor and the service is just fantastic. Going back for sure.
Everything was good but probably short on hand? I was sitting there for almost half an hour and nobody was there to help. But beside that, food is good and staffs are very welcoming and friendly.
Owner which also serves customers is very friendly and very knowledgeable. Food was great, my daughter basically had a plain Schnitzel and it was magnificent. If you are in the area I highly suggest you pop in for a meal.
Cozy spot, the staff is very friendly, and the schnitzel is yummy! Best to make a reservation before coming.

Great restaurant, good food, and superb service. Went with some friends. There was live music (it was a bit much, as it was so loud we had to yell at each other to communicate). The server was great especially given it was only her 2nd day ! The food came out super fast. The bread basket was nice. The schnitzel was super delicious, not dry, not greasy. the spatzle was a bit of a different style with no sauce. The cabbage was par the course. We also ordered the "black forest cake" -- this is made in house, however it is not the "traditional" black forest cake but more like a deconstructed version of a rich dense brownie with cherries and whipped cream. . . . I was hoping for the traditional (because that's super hard to do) but c'est la vie, it was delicious none the less. I would most definitely go back and recommend to others. If you do go, make sure you make reservations, this place was non-stop busy !
One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Our server Melanie was knowledgeable, helpful and charming, the food, beer and wine was delicious and plentiful and the atmosphere was like a warm embrace by a roaring fire on a cold night. Perfect.
Fantastic restaurant! I believe one of the best in the town. The food was delicious, the portion was huge, the live music was amazing (Gypsy Jazz) and the staff members were extremely friendly. Salvatore is the face of this lovely family restaurant. His positive attitude and smile made the experience even better. Well done team, keep it up!
If you haven't been to this place, you're really missing an amazing restaurant in North Vancouver. Go on Sundays, Johnny will play the piano while you enjoy lovely beers and very nice German dishes. Prost!
An amazing dining experience. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere is warm and food extremely good. Cannot wait to come back
Gave it a try tonight. Happy to find European food choices instead of the plethora of Asian and Indian options. Delicious! Very good staff. Good atmosphere. I'll be coming back.
I was taken here as a little kid with my oma. I've been coming here for 30 years and will always return. Great food and atmosphere friendly staff and overall great experience. Music is good too ;)
The menu is a bit more on the pricey side but the pork hock tasted good
Extraordinary vibes and very friendly service. The meals were fresh and yummy. Will surely recommend this place to anyone. Fair prices and big meals. Keep up the great work.
Authentic German offering including favorites such as various schnitzels and rolladen. Good selection of German beers on top and in the bottle. Nice easy walk from sea bus terminal. Small, quaint interior. The dishes were all amply proportioned and no one left hungry. They offer bratwurst ala carte as a meal accompanyment which was wonderful for me to sample it along with my trout. I would definitely recommend stopping in to anyone looking for their German fix.
Got take away from here tonight for the first time after loving dine in here. Food was just as delicious as it is when dining in. A great local independent spot worth supporting. Big love to the jagerhof crew.
Food ♡ Service ♡ Beer ♡ Overall awesome. We have been looking for some good German style food since moving to Vancouver. This place is for sure going to be a frequent spot for us. I need to try everything on the menu ????
Delicious! Tastes like home. Decor is amazing and live music was awesome
This place is a gem! Cozy restaurant with super friendly staff. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel, and it was think, crunchy and absolutely delicious.
My partner and I went on Valentine's day. The restaurant is authentically decorated. Our server was the owner and his wife was the cook. They had live music and beautiful singing. The food was delicious, and the setting was intimate and very friendly. Would highly recommend it!
My boyfriend had introduce me to this restaurant last Sunday and it was the best German restaurant I have ever went to the food was amazing and very delicious. I would come back to this restaurant again the staff were very friendly, efficient and polite.
Went for dinner at Jagerhof last night was amazed by the authentic decor. Outstanding food as well customer service. Will definitely be back again very soon to try the other items they currently have on their menu.
Great spot. The food, ambiance and service was on point. We enjoy supporting locally owned restaurants and we will definitely be back!
we ordered a Wiener Schnitzel and a plate of Spätzle. It didn't remotely look or taste like German food. The Schnitzel was hard and greasy. The cabbage on the side was supposed to be the sauerkraut but it took me a while to realize that. I understand that if I order sausages from the menu I wouldn't get the original German equivalent because that's only found in Europe but seriously, how difficult should it be to cook the original Spätzle or Schnitzel?! The decor was impressive but our servants weren't really that friendly and the food was over priced relative to the portion. In general if you are looking for real German meal this isn't the place.
This is a family-run place. Fitting decor, friendly service, and great food! At times a sweet guy plays an old piano live, that adds to the enjoyment. Highly recommended!
I have never had German food until we visited Jägerhof. The food was amazing, the spiked coffee was amazing. At first we were hesitant because we saw it empty, which surprisingly it was barely opening at 4pm. But then come around 530/6pm it got backed with previous reservations. The service was wonderful, if we were to visit Vancouver Canada again, this spot is definitely the spot we will go to again.
Family approves the Schnitzel. Rustic classical German decor Friendly staff Live piano ????music weekends Oh so good comfort food And a great assortment of import beer ???? And superb desserts all made in-house. Give it a try
Jägerhof is one of my favourite restaurants in North Vancouver. Their food is always delicious and most importantly their customer service is top notch. I am a very happy customer and will keep going back for more delicious food.
If you like German/Austrian cuisine then this is the place to be! Excellent food and service. The platter is my favourite. Warm atmosphere enhanced by a two men band once in awhile. The staff is great! We love being there.

Delicious food with authentic flavours. One of the best Schweinshaxe in the city. Service was slow due to volume but the earnest, warm, and friendly aspect of it more than made up for it. Well priced for the quality and great location.
Lovely atmosphere! Loved the food and German beer!
A wonderful restaurant. Traditional German dishes, with excellent specials. My all time favourite is Vienner Schnitzel with the Hunter Sauce on the side, all potatoes and a side of Spätzle. We went with friends... and the meal and the service were outstanding. As always Chris was charming and the night was a success.
Phenomenal German food with great service!!! Reasonable prices and great atmosphere!
Great food, atmosphere, music and the service is excellent! We try to go here once a month for some big beers, wine and schnitzel.
It's almost like backpacking in Germany and visiting a small family owned restaurant. Special mention to the owner, what a gentleman, who helped me decide on this delicious beer! Thank you!
Great food, cozy environment and awesome live music while you eat. Don’t pass this up!
Fantastic schnitzel and ambiance. The live music was great. The atmosphere was fun and really made my night. The food was great. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to try something new outside from all the trendy hipster places.
Super welcoming & friendly staff & owners. Best schnitzel ever! Fun live entertainment on weekends. A little bit of Bavaria tucked away in N. Vancouver.
Superb! The raclette schnitzel was the best schnitzel I ever had. The Apfelstrudel, güner Veltliner are really great, so is the Borscht. Will be back!
Amazing atmosphere! Both times we went we felt like it was a unique cultural setting. Staff are friendly and the food was great! Made us reminisce about our travels in Europe.
A good old German restaurant in North Vancouver. Already the name promises an original "good old" German restaurant. The owners presenting some decoration which indeed could be found in a German "Hunter's Court" which is essentially the meaning of the name Jaegerhof. We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. We were lucky and got the last table. We ordered an assortment of sausages as appetizer and were pleasantly surprised. Each of the three sausages had its very own delightful flavour. As main course we ordered Schnitzel and the food was excellent. The meat was nice and crisp, still juice in the inside, red cabbage as side dish with roasted potatoes. The bill was $75 for the two of us which included one beer. Recommended!
What a great place. Reminds me of what restaurants were. A whole experience. The food was good the beer was good. But the experience was more than the food. It was the old man playing piano, the waiter stopping to sing along. The people working and eating. You owe yourself a visit.
The owner’s being hostile to a certain minority group by removing its symbols from the street is not what I’d like to see in the community. If the owner doesn’t support inclusivity, then I don’t support or recommend his business.
Fantastik food to much yo eat you do not have room For dessert
Very neat and convenient spot. They serve large meals and for inexpensive prices. We enjoyed the food a lot and the staff members were very friendly and chatty. Highly recommended.
I go with my wife to this place from time to time! This is my favorite restaurant to to have a good dinner. I visit this spot frequently. The food is just great, the staff members are polite and the payment is good. I enjoy eating in this restaurant over a nice supper.
Amazing food and german beer! Great service and ambient, with live German music
Great food. So different then all the other same old restaurants
We love Jagerhof! Everytime my parents are in town we come here. We always get the schniztel and it is amazing. There aren't many places to get schnitzel in town so it is a treat when we get it. The atmosphere is nice and warm. My only complaint recently is the portion sizes seem to have changed and gotten noticeably smaller the last few times we've been there (namely the sides) yet the prices have stayed the same. It isn't a big deal, but it's so delicious you just want more! ????
