REVIEWS OF Fishworks IN North Vancouver

Had an light early dinner at Fishworks, Michael our waiter was attentive. We choose the 'Fishworks Shared Platter' consisting of 4 x Albacore Tatski, 6 x large prawns, 8 x honey mussels, 4 x oysters, 6 x chucked oysters (no shell pieces)!!, numerous crab legs already cut open, as well as a classic selection of thrèe sauces. Before the platter arrived Michael served a balsamic vinegar with small pieces of bread. The expresso coffees were also gòod.

Good ambiance, great service and very average food. I made a reservation based on the reviews and both my guest and I left the restaurant quite disappointed. While the host was very attentive, the food was just not good. We had a fish and chips and a salmon dish. My salmon was extremely dry and the sides and specially the sauce was bland. I hope they can manage to make tastier food as the location is absolutely great.

Great food, and great service. Will definitely return.

Really a fun spot and the food was great. Every dish was a 10. The crispy squid was best I have ever had. Try the West Coast Caesar. Very original. Very friendly people doing a professional job. Heading back soon.

Michelle

Went here with my coworker last night for the DOV menu. Food is excellent, but the service has gone downhill. Complimentary bread did not come until we asked for it after the appetizers. We are a party of 2, and we got 3 pieces of bread... (You would think they either give us 2 or 4 pieces!) When we finished the last course which was the desserts, another waiter came to ask whether we are waiting for our desserts. Customer service is lacking for a restaurant that serves fine dining specializing in seafood. Customer service use to be a lot better before.

The food was good and well priced. Coming from the US, really appreciated the pride put into their deliveries and thought the dinners were well priced. Loved the deserts.

Will not have the fish and chips again. I have been going here for years and went back mid 2021. Cut into the battered fish and it was all gooey inside. The fish had not been dried enough before cooking. Told the server and they looked at me and said, "That happens sometimes"!

Tina Nguyen

Let’s start with the good; our waitress was nice and welcoming. The chickpea paste was delicious. Unfortunately there were many more things that were bad that we would definitely not come back or recommend to our friends. For starters we were sitted at the intersection of the walkway where the waiters and waitresses go through to bring people their food. Can’t tell you how many times through the night I was bumped into by either staff or people leaving. The food was only ok. I had a poke for starter, pork busso for main and a tiramisu dessert. I did not find any of the dishes particularly tasty or worth commenting on. My girlfriends dishes though different weren’t any better. Overall it was unpleasant, and quite expensive for the type of food we had.

I would highly recommend it if you are looking for fresh foods and happy hour in North Vancouver, you will never go wrong with them, staff always friendly and sweet <3

phenomenal food. the salmon Wellington was so tasty

Robbert de Groot

Excellent wine selection. Had the shared platter which is an amazing seafood tower - it was delicious and very fresh. Highly recommended!

Ross F

I was very disappointed. The food was good, but our server gave us no service. He had no time for us. I had to pour my own wine, had to ask many times for water, had to remind him about ketchup, he didn't do a quality check till we were done! Mess up on our dessert. I get he was busy but you can still win us over with personality! I know, cause I was a server. Very disappointing. Don't go when they're busy.

Barb Wild

Don't usually leave reviews but feel that this visit warranted one. First off... the food is amazing. Everything was fresh and had huge flavour. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the service. After my wife and I placed our drink orders we inexplicably got a change of server even though the same server continued to wait the other tables around us. The only explanation my wife and I have is that the first server couldn't understand our Australian accent as this person struggled with our drink order. For the rest of the meal (3 hours) this server continually bypassed our table and left the collection of plates and delivery of meals and drinks to the backup server who was extremely busy on the other side of the restaurant. At one point the first server even walked passed our table while we were waiting to give dessert orders, walked up to the second server and pointed to our table openly....indicating that our orders needed to be taken. Tbh we left slightly offended and if not for the great food I'd be recommending people stay away.

Friendly staff and great service tasty fish and awesome patio setting.

Five star ++. Great food and friendly staff. Walked in with only 5 mins till closing and they were very accommodating and genuinely nice. Will be an always return for me.

Fresh delicious food. What more can you ask for!

Saturday night dinner. The service was was outstanding, the food amazing. The Clam Chowder was the best I have ever had!

Tim Fleming

I am despairing of the nature of humanity to read some of the reviews of this place. A really different and excellent clam chowder with bouillabaisse for my main course both really excellent with a great broth in the bouillabaisse. My wife had a very nice Caesar salad with delightful fresh anchovies with a very good Paella , a nice Pinot at a normal restaurant price and delightful experience with very charming but non intrusive service. The chocolate mousse was even quite good. A very good Cafe Americano . Look , I never review most places but this place is a jewel , I even felt compelled to stick my head in the kitchen and tell the chef that he was pounding it outta the park. This should be on your agenda if you come to Vancouver, take the Seabus from Canada Center, enjoy the view, walk up the hill and have a surprisingly memorable meal.

Mahtab Narsimhan

Exceptional food, super nice staff members, consistently good mood. They charge reasonable prices and the food quality is very good. 5 stars.

Stefan Riebow

Between the service, the food, the drinks and the ambience.... safe to say it was one of my favorite restaurants!

Mar D

Fantastic place! If you like seafood, you must try! Service is nothing short of perfect.

Jonathan Parminter

Blown away with their clam chowder. It was very very good! Nice service with quality food and wine. The only downside is that the restaurant is small and it is packed most of the time, so sometimes you have to dine at an awkward spot surrounded by tables and chairs literally right next to you. The fish (shaped) chocolate truffles served at the end is so yummy though!

Leanne Taylor

Lovely dinner out with my friends on a dark, rainy and dismal Tuesday evening….three of us shared salmon pate and we each ordered the dinner special: halibut topped with wild mushroom sauce, served with roasted potatoes, carrots, green beans and cauliflower! Delicious. Wonderful service and warm ambiance.

Jackie Tan

Amazing & fresh halibut served here, I just wish the drive wasn't so long for me! Portion sizes are more than generous and considering the price makes it a great value restaurant. Haven't tried many of their dishes yet but hope to change that with my future visits here.

P Cencig Perkins

Good food. Reservations would help as very popular and busy.

Excellent value. Had a great lunch now looking forward to trying the dinner menu. Staff are friendly and service was great

janetbplanet (Intrepid Trekker)

The seafood was so fresh and delicious. High quality food. Cute patio. However, horrible service. Our male server (Tom) never once made eye contacts. Whenever he dropped off our dishes, he set the plates down as he was walking away without saying anything (as if we were begging for free food). Never checked in. A very condescending man. The food was incredible but wouldn't be able to make up for the awful experience. Would give 0 star if I could. There are other places with as great food and better service.

Lily McGraw

Friendly staff. Had some great oysters for their happy hour.

T.A. Gillis

Bad service spoils everything even great food. On multiple occasions, servers there are rude, prejudice and judgemental.

Allie LeeAnn

The food was incredible if you're looking for things with amazing flavors and cooked to perfection this is the place for you. The drinks are cold and the food is hot but not overcooked, absolutely scrumptious. Great evening overall

Tom Blair

Food and service was excellent... ❤ eventhough I didnt had reservation they accomodate us, Thanks ❤

Back after a long break and glad we did. The good and service were great. Loved the crispy prawns and squid!

John V (John)

Top notch! We went for Dine Out Vancouver to try this popular spot and had a great experience from start to finish. The service staff is personable and even though it was busy they don't rush. They were taking there time and making you feel at home. The food had perfect presentation and the flavors were spot on. My risotto with mussels was amazing and the tiramisu is a must order. We will be returning for sure.

Sara Honorato

Had an awesome meal here along with great service!

J M

Great food the tuna was amazing and fresh

Sidonie

Took my fiancé to dinner here for his birthday. Made reservations a week in advance and showed up on time only to wait 15 minutes for them to clear the table and set up in a corner table. Our server was too busy organizing larger tables so we were basically ignored until we flagged down another server. It's too bad. The food was good, but the overall experience was compromised by the horrible service.

Tony King

Highly recommended. We started with a dozen oysters and that gave the right tone for the rest. we ordered the Seafood tower and it was amazing. And last but not least we shared a dish of Paella wish was one of the best we had in years - cooked and spiced to perfection!

Yale Henry

Will be back! Food was excellent, service friendly, great choices for happy hour and dinner.

Nico Jan

We were passing through Vancouver BC around dinnertime and happened upon this place. We received excellent service and the food was excellently prepared. I had the fish & chips, and my wife had scallops. Both were fabulous. The check was reasonable too. What a bonus.

Chris

Chef’s Kiss!! We had such a great dining experience here, and the food was delicious they even gave cute little fish chocolates at the end of our meal. Without a doubt we’ll be coming back.

N W

Halibut is very good , especially the sauce with vegetables Also clam chowder soup is very good too ????????????

Eric Turpin

Excellent service and very tasty food! The wait staff were very attentive and every dish we had was delicious. The three course menu that's available at the moment was great value - my partner and I both ordered from it and really enjoyed every course. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Peter Straughan

Excellent food, presentation, service, ambiance. If you love seafood, you really have to visit - it's our 'go to' place, always reliable and delicious.

Dong Woo Kim

Tonight I got a wonderful dinner with my girl, yummy food, excellent service but no music at all, even when they reopened the restaurant everything looks normal but safe:)

008 films

I really enjoyed the food but i will say the service was terrible. The server was not very friendly and we had to ask him several times for the same thing. Perhaps he was just having an off day and everyone has those but it really felt like he just did not care in the slightest that he was giving us terrible service. I would absolutely go back as the food was phenomenal but I would say something to management if the service was that bad again.

Shahzad Far

Excellent food, great service. It was wonderful to eat at a local restaurant again. Very safe, with all the distancing and sanitation protocols.

Olena Polissky

So good!! We loved the salmon Wellington and baked oysters. Must visit spot of North Van. Fun music and beautifully designed space :)

We went for the dine out menu. Everything is so delicious and service is excellent. We also ordered some drinks and oysters.

If you just did a google search for "best fish and chips" read on. The fish and chips here are good for sure, but theyre not a greasy basket of cod and chips with a side slaw and nice big glob of tartar sauce. In fact they dont even have tartar sauce...crazy talk. The cod and chips were served with garlic aioli, I did not like that. The side slaw was a leafy green salad with a balsamic dressing, which agian was good, but sure as hell wasnt a side of good ole coleslaw. Quality food for sure but not a traditional fish and chips. Also ordered a bourbon old fashion. It was well made-ish but for 13 bucks I would like the large single ice cube that should be in that drink and not the same little ice cubes as in a fountain cola drink. Good spot though. Ill go again.

Brione Roberds

Staff always friendly and accommodating. Food is best that we can find in Lower Lonsdale. Always a go to restaurant for us.

Joshua King

Great service at lunch. Patio is nice for people watching. Salmon main with green beans and cauliflower was excellent.

Andrew Mardjuki

This place never fails to deliver. They have fresh dishes for reasonable rates, there are no long waits even when the place is packed.

Ryan Vander werff

It was just okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but I wouldn't argue if I had to go back.

MakinA \\ Wake

Probably the best place I have ever been to eat. Staff were very friendly and food was absolutely delicious. Very sad that there isn't a chain in my local area but if I am ever visiting this spot again then I will be sure to visit again.

Brandon McGill

This is a great restaurant with extremely friendly wait staff! Shout out to Sergio! Will definitely be coming back for some more delicious meals featuring super fresh fish!! The mushrooms are also to die for!!

really good food. we got the bartender on our last visit and sorry not the greatest.

Ok so, it all started with a hankering for oysters and finally picking a place for seafood. My husband never had oysters before and I'm so glad we came here and his first tasting experience;; and was nothing to be nervous about when it comes to shell fish. Unfortunately we did not make reservations; however, they were able to accommodate nonetheless... our orders were efficient even though it was a busy night. The kindest wait staff with incredible product menu knowledge, and so down to earth. It made the fine dining experience comfortable and relaxing. The seafood was made to perfection and the portions were just right. The unique dessert options was the cherry on top. The poached pear, and the earl grey pear martini was delectable to the very last drop. Lastly their affordability was worth it, for the portion and quality of food. Wishing they had a location in south Surrey but definitely worth the track, and hopefully again in the near future.

Munro Stuff

We went at Happy Hour and shared a pound of Honey Mussels, a pound of Manila clams, Crispy Squid and Prawns in Sweet Chili Sauce and Wasabi Lime Crab Cakes. Everything was wonderful and great value during Happy Hour.

Sandro Mariotti

Great food!! Salmon is unreal. Service can be questionable depending on the server.

Robert Leupen

Great food and service! I was recommended the halibut with cherries which was a surprisingly refreshing combination. They also have a nice wooden outdoor seating area if you are worried about eating inside.

Bennet Wong

Great location, the service is good but the food is not as good as it should be. All our dishes were salty and the lobster bisque flavourless. The paella’s rice dry with overcook chorizo. For the price I will go elsewhere next time.

Ilene Roberds

Have eaten here several times. Food is consistently delicious, prices are reasonable and service is efficient and friendly.

Shawhin Kanai

I freaking love this place. The food is AMAZING, guaranteed the service can be a little slow but trust me the food is worth it.

Maël Gargadennec

Seafood was so fresh! Best seafood platter I've had in a long time.

It's my first time dine at this place. We picked the $29 dine out menu and added 2 dozens of oysters. We love the food, all in high quality, and their service is very good too! It was a pleasant experience, highly recommended restaurant!

Barry Samuels

I've never been more motivated to write a review for a restaurant than I have for this one. I took my future in-laws to Fishworks hoping to have a nice experience while I asked them a very important question. I never expected any kind of special treatment from the staff but did anticipate decent service based on other reviews. After being seated, we waited for over five minutes before our server acknowledged us and, after nearly walking away, took our drink order. I'll confess, it appeared as if they had given this server far too many tables to manage. Based on that introduction, shame on me for not seeing the writing on the wall and leaving right then. Half an hour later, our order was taken and we were checked on in 20-30 minute intervals. For whatever reason, we were given very low priority and it was an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. The complete lack of caring, apathetic tone, and disrespect shown by our server ruined the entire dinner. I felt like an afterthought or a burden rather than an actual patron. I could not wait to leave. I give Fishworks two stars for the food alone, which I thought was fantastic. But what's the point after that kind of service. I feel bad for the kitchen staff who obviously do a great job but were so let down by their wait staff. Just skip this place.

Johny Ostler

Food was to wet. Fish flavour was good but too mushy along with the rest of the dish. Oyster s where really good. Kitchen was slow.

Carl Hendriks

I will probably leave a long review the second time around. Found this place after a google search , what A GEM. The service was so fun and friendly. We sat at the bar. I ordered oysters that tasted super fresh and a delicious carbonara style pasta dish. I was blown away by the experience. Will be back and provide a more in Depth review with pics.

Dec 10 2021. Reservation for 3. Wife me and 9 yr old kid. Two on the happy hour menu, one pasta dish and one soup. Good service ... good environment. We came half an hour early cause kid was hungry. They said ok. Will come back. Parking is 2 hrs free around the place. We live in east van. No where downtown or commercial drive is free for 2 hrs. So it's a huge plus when it comes to parking...

Scott Mortell

Fresh local ingredients, nicely prepared. Friendly, helpful servers, in a modern, airy room, but you can hear each other talk.

Fayaz Manji

One of our favorite North Shore restaurants. Always fantastic food and the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of sophisticated and laid back.

I had the pleasure of dining at Fishworks recently and my wife & I were thoroughly impressed. Everything was fresh & delicious from oysters to fish & chips & other mains. Despite being relatively booked, the staff was very pleasant & ensured everything was up to our expectations. Excellent drink menu as well! Will definitely be coming by again, especially considering how close this location is from the waterfront & Lonsdale Quay Market

Brigitte Raye

The best place to get fish in Ontario. The people who work here are happy to help and know their stuff. An insane amount of selection. It’s hard to come out of this store without buying way more than you intended - but hey, I’m not complaining! Everything tastes so fresh!

Jetta Pulido

Just started doing reviews, and had to give a five star to one of our favorites! You get the verbals all the time, but formally, thanks for being so awesome!

Very good. Tuna Tataki Salad is excellent. Prawn Carbonera and Scallop Risotto were OTT. Advice? Take half home. It's rich! Service well-coordinated and timely. Nice ambiance.

Excellent place to have a seafood dishes!! Appetizers, Mains, desserts, everything tasted wonderful!!

Steve Boultbee

Good quality food. Very tasty. Excellent service. A bit pricier than other places. I would return if I were still living on the North Shore.

As my wife said, "These are the best fish & chips I've ever had." Cool patio, too, and chocolate truffles with the bill are a nice touch. (Mine wasn't the only table to go "oooh" when these fish-shaped goodies were brought out at the end.)

Good service with tasty mains and good drink options(caesar is good). The seafood medley? appetizer seemed to be too recently thawed and overpriced for what you get.

Absolutely fantastic atmosphere and food. Get a reservation cuz this place is popular. Happy hour oysters at the bar, muscles in a garlic broth, and an entertaining bartender shucking and making drinks. Give this place a go if that sounds like your thing.

This place has the 3 must haves; great food, great staff and great ambiance. They have put their own spin on serving up seafood and be sure to save room for the delish desserts . Just a yum yum kinda place! Go and enjoy!

Great food and decor.

Went for happy hour (not knowing ) what a hit!. Had the prawns and calamari (a little salty but wow full of flavor. Then the spaghetti with clams. Forget about it! The bouilabase was fantastic as well . I would definitely book it again very soon

Claire S.

Great food!!! That being said, we would have loved a nicer ambience to match the food. We feel fairly certain that this restaurant has gone through some changes since the last time we were here because this time around the "atmosphere" felt quite different. The lighting was very bright. No candles. No dinner appropriate music. If I recall correctly, they were playing classic rock. (Nothing wrong with classic rock, just doesn't seem right when you are enjoying a near $40 entree with a $20 glass of wine.) The staff are now wearing what are probably supposed to be fishmongers or carpenter's aprons; some of them just wore them with a black t-shirt. Either way, the staff uniforms went with the bright lighting and the music to generate a decidedly casual atmosphere which seems extraordinarily incongruous with the quality, style, and extraordinary plating of the food. We thought that we had picked a romantic restaurant, but it was anything but. Absolutely LOVED the food, but it is somewhat unlikely that we will return to this version of this restaurant.

Amanda Jones

Always good food. Nice to have a good consistent restaurant and service on the Shore.

sean richards

Glad that we have such a nice seafood restaurant like this in NVan. Every single dish was delicious and oysters were very fresh. Indoor dining area was properly sanitized with proper the social distancing measures.

Delicious sea food restaurant! Great service too.

EDNA LIM

The entire menu is delicious! Happy hour is a must go! Fresh shucked ???? FTW! And you’ve got to try their ooey gooey tiramisu!

Edmund Wong

Extraordinarily bad experience. They did not respect our place in line. I'm completely baffled by the incident. They didn't make it right and that should have been our cue to leave but we stuck it through and as a result had the worst dinner of our lives. The whole thing stunk of white privilege and nobody needs that when they are sitting down for a nice meal. @#$& racism.

Naomiswaxing

I was really surprised about how amazing the food is here. I just decided to try it out with my hubby and honestly was blown away. The salad, crab cake and lingcod was truly delicious. A must try!!

Excellent seafood restaurant on the North Shore. Generous portions make for a fair price.

I normally really like frequenting this place, but a few weeks ago my opinion changed. My boyfriend and I consumed some oysters after the heat wave with some friends (our bad for sure) here and a day later we found out he had gotten Norovirus, along with his twin brother. He was sick for a week and when he called the place they told him they would give him more free oysters to make up for it (lol, should have taken them up on that offer because the oysters tasted quite good in my opinion). Let’s just say he won’t go near here anymore.

Gordon More (gmore70)

The sablefish was amazing and the ambiance is perfect for a low key night with a touch of fancy.

Gaby Isphoto

Recently went here for dineout. The staff were friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the dineout menu (seared ahi tuna, garganelli pasta with salmon and pesto sauce, panna cotta), which was very reasonably priced at $29. As for covid precautions...staff were wearing masks and there was hand sanitizers available at the entrance. However, there were no dividers between tables where we were sitting and we felt that we were very close to some of the other tables.

Robert Logan

My goodness what great seafood dishes. I had the thai lingcod with mussels. Corkage is $25 a bottle. Service was excellent. Only pushback was after spending a lively time they came to our table and told us we had to leave as the next seating had arrived. We must have missed that detail when making the reservation. Oh well.

Glenn Martin

Thomas made our dinner extra special with his excellent recommendations. Food and ambience were great. Hope to go back soon.

Yummy!! Came here for fish and it was delicious ???? Oysters, main mane and deserts (tiramisu)were great! Highly recommend

Our waiter was so friendly and funny. We ordered the paella and the halibut poutine. The portions were more than enough for one person, especially the paella. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and so fresh. The waiter was also great at accommodating peanut/nut allergies.

I've given the restaurant more than one chance, as I've lived on the North Shore for some time. I've had some acceptable experiences (never exceptional), but when dining there recently, both my date and I got violently ill. Mine set in within a couple hours, and my date's happened in the early hours of the morning. We shared but one dish, and are both certain that dish was the culprit. I wouldn't have bothered to write a review, but the management's response to the situation forced my hand. When I informed management, their first reaction was one of defensiveness, saying they served that dish many times that night and no one else complained. I explained that as we had both gotten sick, it was unlikely anything else could have been to blame. He offered a gift card, but we have zero intention of dining there again, and that a credit back to my card would be the only suitable solution for us. I was extra reasonable, and even said that we would keep the tip the same, and that we didn't need a refund on the drinks, just the food portion. He told he'd get back to me. After two days, he called and told me that NO refund was available at all. I thought this response was unacceptable, so that's why I'm posting here. I generally try to support local businesses, but they need to stand by their food, and support us too. To say I was disappointed in there response would be an understatement.

Kent Gray

Its been good in the past. Tonight was a disaster, food was very average (salmon carpaccio swimming in oil) and the service less than. Too expensive for the quality level, last time at Fishworks for us.

Ben Heathcote

Treated our of of town guests to a wonderful dinner at Fishworks. The fresh halibut feature was outstanding and perfectly prepared. An all around excellent experience.

The food is great, staff is friendly and helpful. It is a gong show trying to get in on a wheelchair though.

Rahul Narsimhan

A great experience. The food was delicious and well presented. The staff are humorous and made for a great atmosphere. The menu choice is small but really well thought out and well executed. Highly recommend this place.

Mia DG

Food is great! Definitely one of our favourite restaurants now! Looking forward to try all their delicious food!

Manuel Gogolin

Excellent atmosphere, excellent food. Both comfortable and classy, this place is a must-visit if you're in the area

Gerardo Otero

Tried it here long time ago and never reviewed it, but it was perfect! Recommended to try!

Allie Runas

Service was ok. Great space and ambiance. Food was great. Well presented and fresh. Loved the ahi tuna. Wine and drinks were good. Could be better pricing for happy hour but great space. Hostess was polite and friendly.

Samantha Lyzun

Lower Lonsdale classic seafood restaurant. Claim chowder and salmon wellington are great choices. Nice ambiance and excellent servers.

Victoria Wang

We had takeout for 5. Food took longer than they said extra 15 mins. Food didn't come with utensils so you have to ask. They forgot one of the dishes we ordered so we had to go back. The waitress handled it well so my friend waited for his dish to be cooked. I had the paella which was good.

Tasty bites shared! Busy during Done out, but still great service & food!

A hidden gem, walked by many times and never thought about eating there, but their happy hour is excellent, and all of their food is great

Rosiebeth Janson

Fantastic service even on the final night of Dine Out Vancouver. Staff were very accommodating and service was swift without seeming to rush you. Food was acceptable. The salmon was slightly overcooked and had bones in it. I plan to return here again in the near future.

It was the best until we found hair in delicious food and even the staff cleared our plates without saying sorry about it. They totally ruined my wife's birthday dinner.

Jeremy Dehaven

Unbelievable food ,every dish was a 10. The service as always is superb. Paella is one of my favourite meals ever and I don't think I've ever had better even when I lived in Barcelona. Congrats fellows.

Liam Bombay

Amazing! Well worth it. Eat here the paella is sublime!

Fouad Hafiz

Service is hit and miss, food takes a while to come out (30+ minutes on average). Wait staff is always pleasant and conversive (had 1 bad experience) and food is great every time!

Travis Reams

Outstanding food and excellent service! Excellent restaurant

Spencer Galvin

Excellent food but they need staff that understand how to treat customers well. Their pasta is made just right. Seafood is fresh and price is very reasonable. Worth the 30 mins drive of the terrible bridge traffic if you can stand horrible customer service.

Kate van Leeuwen

Simple delicious food and excellent customer service!

F Branch

Excellent restaurant. We have gone several times and have never been disappointed. Best to make a reservation

Rich Thompson

Great fish. Enjoyed the meal. Friendly service. Competitive price.

Sam Coventry

It was take out on Saturday night. Salmon Wellington was burned and too sweet. It was soggy with gravy. Fish & chips so dark and it was with just mayonnaise instead of tarter sauce.so disappointed Seem staff is friendly.. not recommended ..

Eugene Chernyi

Excellent food, choice of wine, great service. All together makes for a lovely dining experience.

Nadine Sarah

Great seafood! Except the chef won't allow you to put the gravy in the side of the habit poutine. Boo

Elizabeth Mah

Wonderful family experience in a beautiful restaurant. However, I expected more in the service. Celebrating my father's birthday, we were so excited to book this restaurant to celebrate a memorable evening. We received: No attention to the occasion, no check-ins, pouring own wine, no personality, no pleasantries. Extremely disappointing and it's rotting your restaurant, I'll be back one more time, I sure hope it won't be my last. PS - The food was amazing. Paella, Salmon Wellington, Oysters, Mussels, Pasta. We were all very happy with the wonderful meal. I tipped 20% because the food was that good.

Svetlana Eremenko

Overpriced and terrible service. Apparently it's ok to kick patrons out for the next sitting after 1.5 hours and spending close to $250. We booked 1 week in advance!

Chilliwest Consulting

Let me just say, that Fishworks is one of the best seafood places I have ever been to! We are visiting for 5 days, and had to come here twice because of how good their food is. Service and staff are amazing, I would recommend making a reservation in advance to avoid long wait times. We had Lobster Mac and Cheese, Scallop Risotto, both soups, Paella, Seafood Tower for two, and crab cakes. I would definitely recommend and order those dishes again.

Zo Wade

Have tried everything on the menu and incredibly high quality and tasty every time! Favourites are clam chowder, huge mussels and potato cake. The servers are all great (and almost know me by name). Yum and amazing. Highly recommended. Go to for family dinners and date night.

Dunsterman

Great place for grabbing anything seafood related with a choice of a few 'on land' options. The decor is fitting and service staff are good. Nice location on lower lonsdale.

Michelle McNeil

Highly recommended! We stopped at this stunning restaurant and made a quick reservation and to our surprise we got in. You must have proof of vaccination. Back to the food, we were absolutely blown away. We ordered two ceasers, baked …

Awesome Mo5000

Best meal I had out in a while, great balance of flavours, halibut cooked to perfection, good service, lovely nouvelle presentation but good portion and wonderdul laughter comming from the kitchen, I am hard to please when it comes to price quality ratio I got what I paid for, for a change???????????? Thank you

Ahmed Badri

Delicious dinner with swift service and super friendly staff. Our food tasted amazing and fresh - from clam chowder to salmon and halibut. Our kids really enjoyed lobster mac&cheese Even dessert cream brûlée was mouthwatering

Cavelion 126

In town from the states (Atlanta, GA) and this place is really nice. Not an expert but I would say more upscale based on what’s around it. My wife and I both choose the Halibut (two different versions) and our daughter had the clams and pasta. Also had the salmon carpaccio and the lobster bisque. Don’t judge we were hungry. In any case really really good. We were slightly underdressed but didn’t feel out of place. Come here, service and food were special!

First time to Vancouver, last night in town and we decided to go out for a good sit-down meal at a seafood restaurant. This one came highly recommended by our Airbnb host and our family of seven headed to Fishworks. Without a reservation, we were pleasantly surprised to be able to be seated without any wait, albeit in a corner, almost being made to feel that we were an inconvenience to their normal flow. This should have been a sign. To cut a long story short, the food was excellent, though the waitress messed up a couple of orders and ended up arguing with my wife when we pointed out that it was the wrong entree. Her argument was that she had brought us the “popular” clam dish instead of what our son’s had ordered. The owner then tried to make it right by offering us two desserts on the house. Imagine my surprise when the bill showed full price for everything, including the desserts! I very rarely, if ever, leave a review, but in this case I would recommend going for the food but leaving because of the amazingly horrible service. The owner probably needs to keep the waitress on for some reason, but I would never step foot in such a pretentious establishment again! Five stars for the poor chef, one for the owner, and a big zero for the waitress.

The fried fish was undercooked...way to soggy. The tartar sauce was very underwhelming. It had a nasty taste and really needs to be changed. It's so cold in there everyone was wearing a jacket. The service was great.

Sat at the bar to catch the last bit of happy hour and the bartender's multitasking skills amazed me. Very attentive and seemed like a one man army at times. The beer was perfectly balanced and the fish and chips was excellent. Will come back for sure!

Tim O'Brien

A nice restaurant in a nice neighbourhood. Though the high chairs have no backrest. S please be fit!

Gavin Lewis

Just ok. Don't need to return. Service was not very friendly.

Neil Gnyp

Despite the great looking spot, the service was poor and the food lacked creativity and unique flavour. They'll probably treat you better here if you are a middle age caucasian man wooing a young immigrant lady companion. Long story... We visited during the summer, three hungry tourists that just finished a 3-hour hike at St. Marks. We were sweaty, but we cleaned up as we changed into more comfortable clothes. Fishworks had just opened and not a customer insight. We thought we would be treated like royalty, but clearly they had other ideas. First off, they weren't prepared to open. The bartender filled in for their late server. He seemed to be short tempered with us not having a reservation and bothered by our softball questions about the menu. Menu was big, but the portions were quite the opposite. We shared a few seafood samplers and some other dishes that weren't really anything to brag about. The paella was really it's only saving grace in terms of flavour. Service was much better for customers who looked richer or privileged and we spent a decent amount of money, about $80 per person. I wish I picked a better place to try seafood in Lonsdale quay. However, I did get a snazzy picture of their octopus art on their wall. I tipped 10% because the cooks shouldn't have to get shafted when the service staff leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Laura Gardiner

The salmon wellington was absolutely amazing. I would highly suggest it!!

Wasiq Ali

We went on happy hour foods are really good and lovely price. Our server that cute girl with smiling eyes is really sweet!

Jamie De Backer (Jamiemd123)

We picked this restaurant mostly because the prices were more affordable and it was close to our rental. When I tell you the food was so BOMB...! Tom was amazing. Anytime I wanted anything he was there but also wasn't overattentive. Also, best Creme Brulee I've ever had in my life (ps. creme brulee is my favorite thing ever so I've had a lot). Don't sleep on Fishworks! Will definitely be back next time I'm in Vancouver!

Dc

First time coming here to grab oysters. It was happy hour, the food was so good and oysters so fresh. Service was great, make sure to call ahead as this place gets fills up quick.

Linda Seifred

Great food especially the scallop risotto and paella

Simone Van Der Merwe

Amazing lunch here!!! Service was just excellent!

François Beauregard

Mediocre. Not sure what all the buzz is about. Not everything came out hot and food was poorly seasoned.

We had a great dinner yesterday night, very fresh and delicious. We are recommending this local restaurant. Also good to support small businesses run with care. Thank you

Adrian Ryans

The best seafood around NV

Holly M

Amazing food!!! The staff was really knowledgeable about the food ingredients and was able to substitute some ingredients to meet my dietary needs. The ambiance is phenomenal too and the seafood was really fresh! Totally worth going.

Alex Storie

I am a big fan of Fishworks. I've eaten there four times in the past two years and each time I've been delighted. Expect to pay around $35-40 a person with appetizer, main and dessert. The food is well plated and warm. For two, we typically order the large sampler appetizer. Fish is tricky to cook and can be overdone very easily however the chefs here really know what they're doing. The fish is always fresh, moist, and cooked just right. The decor is very west coast, contemporary and comfortable. Varnished wood table top and the dim lighting create a warm and intimate atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the wall-hung photography framed with salvaged marine wood. The service is fantastic. I dined recently for the busy dine-out season and the timing of the food was excellent despite it being a full house. I may be biased as I've had the same server every time, but he is very knowledgeable and well-mannered. He knows his stuff and can confidently make recommendations.

Ligia Brosch

Upscale restaurant with seafood based menu. Gluten free options.

Arin Tsai

Every food was delightful, visually stunning, perfectly cooked and unique. Servers were lovely, but yet not professional enough, our glasses were not filled (ended up asking for it) and a waiter tried hitting on my girl. I will visit again for their astonishing foods tho.

Anna du Bois

Oyster is fresh, I love the linguini and Caesar salad. The soup serve in warm not hot. I was impressed with the house red wine. Steak was good, just a bit too much source. Over all, I love the restaurant Definitely come back again.

Hassan Saba

Great food and service

Shandy Rae

The food is exceptional and the restaurant has a very cozy comfortable setting. My only recommendation is don't come here if you have somewhere to be after. The service is always a little bit slow. It's always great and friendly, just slow moving. If coming to Fishworks is your evening event, and you don't have to worry about getting anywhere after, it's perfect

Liana West

Mouthful of bones. Exceptionally slow and inconsiderate service. The parts of my meal that weren’t bones were nice. Pretty disappointed by my experience overall at Fishworks. I had 16 bones in a 2 inch piece of sablefish. Best of all, I waited over an hour to receive my main. When I brought the situation up to the server, he just told me they don’t debone or fillet the fish in-house so it’s not their fault. If it was known to the staff that the fish was full of bones, I would have expected it be communicated to customers.

Sean Rosta

Cozy restaurant with a great friendly staff and excellent seafood. This is a popular restaurant for good reason so be sure to call ahead for reservations. We called for 5:30p reservations on a Saturday and opted to sit at the cute bar so that we could take our time. Our meal started off with a delicious set of six local oysters served with a lite sherry vinaigrette and fresh horseradish. Next came a lobster bisque. Notably the only low point of the meal because of excessive salt and a distinctive beefy flavor so our impression was not that of a lobster bisque. We ordered mussels that were superb. Unusually large but completely firm and fresh tasting in a sumptuous broth. We had to order extra bread for dipping! Our main meal was a local fresh Ling Cod. Perfectly prepared and a real highlight of the meal. All this was accompanied by a $48 bottle of excellent wine. The host was fun, light-hearted and totally complimented the atmosphere. The meal for the two of us ran about $115 including the wine. An excellent value for the high-quality of the food, excellent service, and inviting local ambiance. Bravo!

Love the food. Fresh oysters. Service could be faster.

Sylvia Lau

It's alright. Scallops were overcooked. Salad overpriced. Waitress was good.

Chantal Dorval

Great food and great ambiance make this place a go to for great food in North Van.

André Dagg

One of the best (if not THE best) seafood restaurants in the city.

Jedi Master

Stellar dishes - going with the flow and setting up more outside tables, given the current ban on indoor restaurants. They are even setting up tables outside the closed cafe next door. Brilliant.

My Montreal guests and I (Vancouver) had a great dinner at Fishworks. We ordered fresh oysters, crab cakes, scallops, lingcod, lobsters ????, paella ???? , Okanagan white wine. Everything was tasty, nicely seasoned and well presented. With the nice ambiance and courteous and efficient service from Jessica and her colleagues we were very pleased with our visit.

Ryan Devlin

Great service, fresh seafood. Accommodated for allergies and young children. Ordered salmon Wellington, Cod, fish and chips, clam chowder and risotto. Only conplaint is the risotto and the Wellington crust is a bit too rich. Average price for the quality. Parking is hard to find if you don’t get there early.

Jennifer Prout

Great menu items for a great price! Ooooo she a fish girl

Charles Yuet

Excellent food but could get noisy inside

Dallas Cheung

Had the Salmon Wellington, it was great! Amazing service by Michael too.

Wendy Martin

Fantastic local seafood restaurant with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Exactly what I was looking for.

Rosie Western

Second time here and the food is pretty good. Started with 1/2 doz oysters, extremely fresh and creamy, followed by the lobster bisque which was good. Main dish was the lingcod and it was good and had nice subtle flavours. The only issue we had unfortunately, was that the service was really slow and we waited over an hour for our food. We watched several tables that arrived after us, receive their food before us. The waiter never came over to inform us that they were behind, or check to see if there was anything we needed, until we finally asked him how much longer our food was going to take. When our food finally showed up, one dish, lobster Mac and cheese was still delayed for another 5 mins. The chef comp a dessert for the delayed Mac and cheese which is fine, but it would have been nice for the waiter, at a minimum take the time to come over and let us know that there's was a delay or possibly an apology, which is a common thing to do when a customer has waited over an hour for food. It wasn't until it was time to pay the bill when the waiter started to pay a little more attention to us and started to interact with us. It's service like this that makes you hesitate coming back even though the food is good. It only takes a second to let your customers know that you actually care.

Donald Reeves

Amazing seafood place and always one of my favourites! I had the Lingcod dish recently and it was very tasty and refreshing. The vegetable was crisp and the fish was cooked perfectly. The Paella and the Salmon Wellington are amazing too. I discovered that taking SeaBus from Waterfront Station is so much faster and easier. It's a must 10-12 minutes scenic ferry ride and you get to enjoy an amazing view of the mountains and Vancouver skyscrapers. The restaurant is only a block from the Quay Market.

First Last (A google user)

Clam linguine was amazing. Great food and service.

marita yeung

The restaurant is OK and the food is OK, not fantastic but OK. The wine list falls short. Most of the selections have an oaky back taste and smell. If you don't mind an oaky wine the restaurant is fine but the fellow that thinks he knows what to suggest (and told us he ordered all the wine) is way off the mark. We live close by and have been to this restaurant 5 X since 2012. We frequent other restaurants in the area a lot more frequently as we always come out of Fishworks a little disappointed. We were there over the long weekend 3/27/16

F.A.S.T REVIEW FOOD: Plating was appealing and well put together. The cook on the seafood was done very well especially the fish and scallops. Flavors were good but needed a bit of salt or something to hold it together a bit more. Portions were good. ATMOSPHERE: Warm brick and cellar like feel. Had a bar lounge area and a level above for more table seating. Nice artsy frames and classic stuff. SERVICE: Was seated promptly, menu's were ready from the start. The server was courteous and somewhat friendly. He wasn't clear about the beer selection on tap and the waitress that brought the drink was also not sure what was on tap. I ordered a cream ale but was obviously a stout. They said if it's not too my liking I can opt for the IPA but was corrected from the waiter that they did not have the IPA but a lager and told me my drink was a cream ale. So now not to fuss I went on with my meal. Fishworks may have the first ever cream ale that's a stout color brew. THOUGHTS: I was here for the Dine Out Vancouver effect to see their showcase of flavors. Besides the beer on tap confusion my overall experience was mediocre. They did very well on the cook of things but the flavors left a bit to be desired. I may come back if I'm in the neighborhood but I'd be reluctant to.

Chris Fullinfaw

First time coming here and so happy we came... and we were even more happy to get here early enough to try their fantastic happy hour. So we tried their crab cakes. Lots of meat without a lot of filler which was a good start. Tartar sauce was nice and tangy just like the way I like it. We then had the oysters. Nice and fresh! Not fishy at all and would definitely order more next time. Their calamari was solid although I think it could have used a touch more seasoning. And of course we had to have their fish and chips. Definitely very well done and super fresh. Almost forgot, had their lemon drop which was a nice start to the meal. Will definitely come back here again when I’m in the neighborhood!

Deanna McRae

Best seafood on North Shore ! Enough said go thier enjoy ps reservations recommended

Andrew

Had salmon Wellington and tiramisu for dinner, and enjoyed both. The tiramisu was surprisingly good. One of the best in vancouver. However, the best of the evening was the service. It’s a busy night, but the girls were super nice and patient. Thank you!

Christian Morris

This used to be our favourite “special” date night joint in LoLo, but we had a very disappointing experience last Sunday. We arrived right at the start of dinner time, and the place was empty! Snowstorm definitely had an impact, but we got our orders in by about 5:15, when only one other table was seated. We were super hungry so we hoped our timing would be favourable as the place quickly filled up. I ordered my usual FAV dish (halibut poutine!) and m’lady ordered the sable fish special. It took almost 50 minutes for the dishes to arrive, and it would appear the chef spent that entire time cooking my halibut. It was soooo overcooked I would call it inedible, and the potatoes were RAW and cold. But my wife and I were having a bit of a sensitive evening and I was (as aforementioned) starving, and after trying to wave down a server for nearly 15 minutes, I finally bit the bullet and ate it. I ate it all. I poured the extra white wine butter sauce from the sablefish over the potatoes just to be able to swallow them. It sucked. But I had to save face in front of my wife. Her sablefish, by the way, was excellent. Finally, the waitress arrived to ask how our meal was, she hadn’t checked in for almost 30 minutes and had avoided eye contact. I clearly explained that my halibut was overcooked and had the texture of a dry cracker, and that my potatoes were raw and cold. She apologized and said she would go talk to the chef. We waited another 15 minutes and she came and handed us the bill without saying anything. I asked if I could pay with a gift card (assuming my dish had been comped, she didn’t say anything) and then we waited another 15 minutes for her to re-appear with the machine. That’s when I opened the bill and saw that nothing had been comped. I asked “what did the chef say?” And she just stared at me blankly. Didn’t hear me. At this point we were so disgusted with the service and didn’t want to pay the sitter overtime so we paid and bailed and promised ourselves we would write a scathing review. So here it is! You lost two loyal customers and all of my frequent client recommendations that day. I hope you up your game in the future, and return to being a nice place.

Justin Corley

We love this place! Amazing seafood and great wine list ????

Maxine Glover

Two thumbs up, our experience for dinner from the appetizers to desert it was excellent. Will definitely be back!

Ken Bell

I had the Salmon Wellington. It was a lovely Birthday dinner my son treated me too. The staff was lovely.

T

Everything is excellent.

Jessica R

I had halibut in a chowder-like sauce. Delicious! My pal had Salmon Wellington. He was impressed! His caesar sald and my lobster bisque were excellent, as were the desserts. Our server was first class, and food delivery was amazingly fast for this type of establishment. Mind you, we arrived at 5.45, and it was pretty empy, and we got the only table that had not been booked. By 7.00 most tables were full, and it was a rainy Monday. What does that suggest?

Perry Pomponio

Excellent food. Nice atmosphere.

One of the best fish restaurants I've ever been to lots of choices from shellfish to seasonal fish.

Jahan Gulamani

Food - excellent. Service at the bar from Michael - leaves a lot to be desired. Felt unwelcomed and ignored.

T Mahoney

Very tasty... Don't understand why they cannot break a 100 dollar bill.

Maya H

My family called for a reservation for a birthday dinner but the restaurant failed to write it down in their books. The management insisted that their an advanced online booking system wouldn't be at fault for that. We left with utmost disappointment and went to another seafood place nearby.

Meg Poursistani

Have dined here 4 times. Excellent seafood and service always. Small restaurant.... Can be very busy. Clam chowder is a must.

Terri Connelly

Best seafood in North Vancouver. Be early, can get crowded...

DH

So delicious food with large portions. So friendly staff, its better to make reservation before.

James Fox

Lunchtime is a great time to visit this fish themed restaurant. Four of us had almost identical lunches with the tomato eggplant soup and the daily chefs special of halibut in a clam broth with root vegetables and potato--- superb. We had reservations but the restaurant was not overly busy--a snowy day . Excellent service and a repeat visit for us and still one of our favorites.

TasjaRay Komotios-Newton

Fantastic food - squid & shrimp apps, salmon Wellington and paella were are phenomenal. Pricing is very reasonable for quality and portions. Great, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere.

James Malcom

Delicious and fresh seafood. Also has the most delicious tiramisu I've had. Would recommend the mussels.

Steven Roka

Great food, good service. They make really good salads and the specials have always been great thus far.

This is the place to go for amazing seafood, drinks and service on the North Shore !!! Even though we had to wait a bit for our reserved table, we had such a wonderful meal and our waiter Tom was fantastic- you can tell these guys take pride in serving their customers!

Summit1066

Good food, service was a little slow but there was a busy lunch rush so excusable.

Saskia Z

A wonderful and not too pricey option for a fine dining experience. Cosy setting.

Dante Hadlee

Great restaurant with amazing food and ambiance. They have a happy hour menu that is worth checking out.

Leonid Mertvoy

Bland food, sub par service and basic meals which are over priced. Will not return.

Daniel Silver

I enjoyed Fish Works which has an enjoyable atmosphere and comfortable banquettes. A few things were definitely done well such as the complimentary warm bread to start as well as the complimentary chocolate truffles at the end of the meal …

Brittany

Fantastic food. The halibut Poutine was a very nice surprise! Nice atmosphere and view, great staff. As Arnold said, we'll be back!

Jamie Livingstone

Excellent lunch! Difficult to decide on what to have so looking forward to returning to try more!

Cody Ma

Everything at this restaurant is impeccable! The food is excellent, presentation, service, ambiance - all fantastic. Our favourite spot for a birthday or special dinner that doesn't break the bank compared to most other seafood restaurants.

Christopher Carter

Very good quality fish restaurant, but they also sell meat.

Will Thompson

Wow. Delicious food with attentive service. We had a group of 7 and shared all of the food. The paella came out on large trays and we helped ourselves. Seared tuna was probably my favorite dish. We went early and I was surprised by their happy hour menu which is very well priced. Will be back soon.

Kevin Mah

We have eaten here several times and the service and food are consistantly high. The oysters were superb as were the scallops. Highly reccomended

Nikki

I had high hopes for this place. New to north Vancouver there is a hype around this restaurant. I would not be back. The food was ok. Hence the 2 stars. Not the best for a seafood restaurant, i have had better. My server was not attentive and when I asked for a alternative to the sauce used (dairy allergy) he offered my a slice of lemon for my fish as that would be the sauce then...I had to kindly ask him to talk with the chef...I mean honestly this should not been a issue. Horrible customer service unkind and cold not going back.

tianna tuohey

Great food. Iffy service.

Sharon Harris

First time here tonight with my girlfriend, who has lots of experience in fine dining. We were amazed at the level of quality, detail and service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was on point. Cannot wait to try the rest of the menu. We ordered the Beef Tenderloin and Lingcod as our mains and were blown away, especially the truffle emulsion, was to die for! 10/10 would recommend.

Jason Armstrong

Good fish, good fries, a little pricey maybe.

We visited during Dine Out Vancouver. What a great dining experience! There was absolutely nothing, nada, that I or my table could fault, even on a Saturday night just past the frenzy of dinner rush. Friendly, attentive but not stuffy service, the room was simplistically elegant. AMAZING fresh shucked oysters, the BEST and freshest tasting I have ever had.( We ordered the regular ones at that!)We all agreed it was as if we smelled and tasted the ocean, in a good way. The tuna poke was beautiful to look at, scallops with risotto was inventive and the risotto was full of flavour. Salmon was not dry, we took a chance and also had Osso bucco. ( at a seafood restaurant?) Wow,this is where you can tell it's a great kitchen, the meat was perfectly tender and tasty. My tiramisu was sensational, every single mouthful- and I usually don't do sweets. We will definitely be back for the fresh shucked oysters, And to try everything else! Thank you Fishworks , we are still raving about our visit :)

David Richardson

Highly recommended if your visiting Vancouver. I eat here two nights in a row and both times the food, service, and atmosphere were excellent.

Herbert Xue

Amazing food, great spot and friendly staff. The food is to die for!

Jessica Eckert

Oysters were good. Crabcakes were brutal, tasted like they were cooked in a dirty pan. Risotto wasn't cooked that came with scallop meal. Bouillabaisse was edible but fish wasnt fresh. Overall Terrible experience.

Servers need to remember not to reach across in front of diners. Serve from the left and clear from the right. Walk around the table of four, there is plenty of space.

I had the crispy squid with prawns and the sturgeon. Both were fantastic!

Sheryl Singh

Great food and great service. Can be a bit loud

Long wait for the second course . Maybe they were backed up in the kitchen! Service and food mediocre. I should have stayed home and cooked the fish myself.

Food and service was top notch. Definitely need to check it out

Went to Fishworks for the first time last night. Maybe it was because it was night one of Dinev Out while the whole editions started poorly. Upon walking in, the hostess had trouble seating a walk-in group of for at the bar. To be fair, the fact that bar staff did not help was disappointing. She cannot do it all. As a result of the delay, two others groups entered behind us and she lost the order and started feeling with the group that arrived last (luckily a patron corrected the order.) We got seated well enough and the place was clean and a good aesthetic to the whole place. Our server highlighted the Dine Out menu, while the contents as a whole didn't excite us (other than the White chocolate cheesecake.) We started with cocktails and they took a while to arrive. They didn't even arrive until we got our appetizer. I really wish we could have had them while deciding, but it was obvious they were trying to turn tables over. all in all, we ordered, a cocktail each, a mixed green salad, the Halibut poutine, and the paella, a bottle of wine with dinner, and dessert. The salad was fresh and a nice mix of veggies. So given the rating and the description above, why three stars? Upon getting the salad, or server asks us, "is this your first Dine Out...?" When we clearly had an item not on the done it menu and he took our order. This was less surprising because he tried to memorize our order but still had to ask us what we ordered while he was entering the order in the POS terminal. Luckily it was close by... Upon getting our mains, or server asked how everything was and I had to remind him of the bottle of wine. The quality of the prime was good. The Halibut was good, not great. The paella was very average. Not at all spicy. We got creme brule and tiramisu for dessert. The cream brule was delicious while not as firm as we would have liked. The tiramisu was great. So again, maybe it's because it was Dine Out, the service just lacked and the food was alright. I can say, I don't see going back any time soon.

Good selection of quality seafood dishes. You can combine some dishes with a soup for a combo price. The lobster bisque soup was good. Friendly service.

My daughter-in-law, flew in to Vancouver, while on a business trip, just to meet me for lunch. I chose Fishworks partly in honor of my late husband, who found this gem a few years ago, and for my daughter-in-law who knows good seafood. The honey mussels in garlic, lemon herbs, and the Dungeness Crab Cakes with Wasabi-lime mayonnaise were out of this world. My daughter-in-law chose the wild salmon for her main course, and I chose the black cod special. Both were perfectly cooked & impressively plated, in decent sized portions for a fine-dining restaurant. The service was immaculate, with great atmosphere and the staff well informed. We were happy to have come to this restaurant over others I had considered.

Patricia Chang

Went here for the first weekend of dine out. Worth the trip from Kits, the food was all fresh and well seasoned. Amazing seafood and always good oysters. Knowledgeable staff.

Jovan Dedic

Excellent food, great service and very nice ambiance. Thank you for accepting us without reservation on busy Sundsy night!

Lisa Z

It was an amazing night. We had a very genuine experience with Sergio and Isabella. Unfortunately we did not catch the names of the additional two who were helping with us, but they were both just as amazing as Sergio and Isabella. Amongst our company, we loaded up with some fried shrimp and squid, as well as lobster bisque & new England clam chowder. Unreal. We were brought bread at aggreance twice. With us being there for over 2 hours there wasn't a moment we didn't enjoy ourselves. To everyone at Fishworks, thank you for an amazing evening. I highly recommend spending time at Fishworks on Lonsdale with Sergio, Isabella and their amazing team!

Shayan

Great food and service. The clam chowder was amazing!

Violet Jessen

Great service though barely got a table at 6pm on a Wednesday, so clearly reservations are recommended, even on a weeknight. Food was creative and mostly well done. Salmon flavors were odd and salmon was over cooked but cold and chicken dishes were good. Reasonably priced, especially for location and atmosphere.

Great restaurant, it’s busy so make sure you get a reservation even on weekdays. Dishes are well executed and very tasty, service is friendly and efficient. Probably the only place on the Northshore to eat raw oysters. We have been now about 10 times and everything stays status quo.

ANA-LUCIA JARAMILLO

Consistent and quality food! Good people and talented kitchen.

Roy Nelson

Delicious! I love this intimate restaurant and the scrumptious plates

Joshua van

Had the paella, salmon Wellington and scallop rissotto. Everything was 5/5. Delicious. Huge compliments to the chef.

Jordan Cahill

Our favourite restaurant in North Van! Glad to live in the area and have gone a few times, everything we have tried have been wonderful. The Sturgeon is to die for, as is the salmon wellington. Best appy is the scallops with eggplant and cashews (the mussels are also delicious). Definitely going back again and bringing friends.

Scott MacKenzie

There food is always excellent I love the halibut poutine you must try it !!!

Angela Dietlein

Best seafood place in the Northshore for sure

Sam P

Excellent quality, well prepared seefood dishes. I have been here occasionally over last number of years and consistently enjoyed my meals with pleasent service.

Andrew W

Average at best. My boyfriend had a far better meal than I, but a restaurant should not be good depending on the meal you select. I have to echo other reviewers sentiments - the Covid 19 distancing is not appropriate between some of the tables at Fishworks. My boyfriend and I were sat at the end of the row of booth seating and the table next to us (the one by the window) was far too close for comfort. There should be a partition between that table and the rest.

Peter Lee

They seated us promptly and were attentive but not overbearing throughout our dinner. Great menu options with generous portion sizes and good prices for what you get. Servers were very friendly and atmosphere was cool. Definitely plan to go back!

shalu sharma

Excellent food and service... definitely will go back

Katie Zaloga

If you love seafood this is the place to be! Great selection and nice ambiance.

Secret Reviews

Excellent as always. And sitting outside was great. Salmon Wellington was amazing.

Susan H

Delicious mussels, spot prawns were spot on and lobster mac & cheese was thoroughly satisfying with lots of large pieces of lobster.

Sara Ross

Great restaurant. Waiter was friendly and efficient. Food was unbelievable. Had the seared scallops and egg plant appy….so tasty and cooked to perfection. Main was the Sable Fish special….done just right. Take a trip over to the north shore…you will not be disappointed. Just a short walk up the hill from the Sea Bus terminal.

I went to Fish Works recently and when I went to the bathroom during my visit I overheard the manager yelling very angrily at his kitchen staff. It sounded very disrespectful and harsh. This is not okay in any environment, and i truly feel bad for restaurant staff working in busy environments around a lot of people during a pandemic. The staff here deserve better and should be treated with more respect from their manager. I won't be supporting this business anymore.

alicia herman

Fishworks is my favorite restaurant on the north shore. i'm in my 40's and want consistent high quality of food and service and fishworks is all that and more. i can bring clients, friends or family and the food is fantastic and service excellent every time. thank you for giving me a fine dining experience on the north shore so i don't have to drive downtown to get it! North van resident for over 30 years.

John

First time to this restaurant because wifey was craving seafood paella. Googled and this restaurant came up. Made a reservation and here I am. The ambience is nice. We were greeted and seated by the hostess promptly. Since we knew what we wanted so we ordered right away. The oysters were ok but not great. We also ordered a Caesar salad, manila clam with spaghetti and seafood paella. They were all very good. The manila clam with spaghetti was very very tasty. I would definitely go back to try their other stuff. Service was ok, could be a little better.

David Baxter

Great seafood. We stumbled upon this place and it was awesome.

Darlene Lawrence

Excellent food, great service and ambiance. Tried the Sablefish and Bouillabaisse. Delicious! Will definitely go back.

Petro Tfw

Excellent service. Good food and atmosphere, definitely will go back again.

Mike Kean

Indeed lived up to its billing. Salmon Wellington---what a nice, crisp skin texture, in a filo. Incredible pesto sauce.

Sarah Linnegar

The best seafood in North Vancouver hands down. Great bartender, oysters, crab and scallops. The Sablefish was amazing as well. This little hidden gem was packed and for good reason. Make reservations, you will need them!

Thomas

Everything was season well and I enjoyed the lovely service and atmosphere ☺

Tyler Foley

Excellent quality fish and large portion with a few extra items.

Casey Chan

This is my favorite North Van restaurant! The food is always so fresh and delicious, and they have a great array of seafood dishes to suit whatever mood you are in. My personal favorites are the Salmon Wellington and the Fish and Chips. Definitely worth stopping by for dinner!

Andrew Leong

Consistently delicious food and warm service, great value and great hospitality. Love this place!

Felicity Nguyen

Amazing food and great service. We come here all the time for dinner.

Jen Muise

We went during Happy Hour. The spaghetti was delicious. So were the mussels.

Easily the best value for high end seafood. Salmon house has the view but that's the only area they win in. Service and food quality nods go to Fishworks!

KERI MACDONALD

Damn phenomenal. Waiter new his stuff and every bit of seafood was cooked perfectly.

Len Youden

good food, not cheap, but good and nice service

Phil Vass

Found this on our way thru the Shore. I was fearing a greasy fish n chip joint but turned out to be the very opposite. The chef plates and prepares in a modern style. We had a classic caesar salad, tuna tataki and a pound of mussels in their coconut Thai broth. We shared everything and were very happy with the portion and price too. Our complete meal was GF as well. We will be back. :)

Paula Jean Lloyd

Very good paella!

Lucas Stuyt

Me and my family loved dining here though it's quite far from our place we kept coming because their foods are really good and the staffs are friendly and accomodating.

Sun Cheas

Amazing food, great service!!!!

Jorge Villa

patio arrangement and furniture choice could be improved for a more comfortable dining experience. food was above fair but not *so* good as to come outside of happy hour. thank you!

Spencer Evanshen

Really impressed at how good the food was! Recently I've been to two other fancy seafood restaurants on the north shore and fishworks was the best. The others weren't bad but wishworks is just a step above with flavor and quality.

John Petticrew

The best fish restaurant in the wholesale West. Amassing... Thanks Isabelle

Michael Robotham

Excellent food and value for money. Great service.

Kit Ming Lam

The lobster mac and cheese is one of the best things ive eaten. Wonderful service also.

Jhn Ynot

We had the crab cakes, calamari/shrimp and scallops for appetizers. Absolutely yummy. Mains-Lingcod/Mussels were tasty. Lobster Mac and Cheese was more than filling and leftovers enough for next day lunch. Halibut Poutine beautiful presentation but it’s still not really poutine. The Lobster Bisque was tasty but lobster must have escaped with the creme fraiche. Fish and chips didn’t arrive till nearly the end of our meal. We figured the order got served to another table because there were other tables around us getting their food served when we were one of the first ones to arrive to order. The service was excellent and friendly. Quick refills on the water and we didn’t have to wait long for our bill. We would come again.

Rick Gut

Yesterday my fiance and I went to this restaurant for the first time. The staff was very friendly while accommodating us considering that the restaurant was pretty booked. But then, the server came. I don't know if he was having a bad day, but it was the worst service I ever had. From the moment that we sat down to the table until when we left, he couldn't look at us while asking something or while we were talking to him. And he can talk because I saw him talking to the customers that were in the other tables. We wanted to order more things after our entrée came and we ended up having to do it with another waiter who passed by the table at the time. When we left, we thanked the staff and again he just ignored us. Dinner is a whole experience and having to deal with this kind of attitude is very sad. I felt so uncomfortable that I can't say if the food is good or not, I just tried to leave the faster that I could. It was a very sad experience and I will never come back to this place.

Qianqian Zhong

Really decent seafood here!

Kelsey MacAulay

Love their crab cake!

Jess Choi

Delicious. The halibut poutine was unreal.

K ZM

The salmon Wellington is to die for. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Nice atmosphere. Polite staff. Highly recommended.

Krisalyn Seear

Wonderful food and service. They have the best paella and they are not even a Spanish restaurant! Tip: there is a parking lot across the street.

Nuno Fornelos

Really delicious. I has the free range chicken which was amazing and garlic white wine muscles for an appetizer and my fave dessert the creme brulee. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and go there again. the service was great and it's a cozy yet chic space.

Maryam S

We came as a family to celebrate a birthday and had a great dinner - friendly staff, enjoyable ambience, and excellent seafood. Between us we ordered the salmon Wellington, ling cod, and lobster mac’n’cheese, and all were perfect.

Steve Szentveri

Had a really good group dinner there. Staff was great and the food was excellent.

debbie maniky

My favorite seafood place. Everything is delicious.

Mikaela Galvin

Came here, ordered Lobster Mac'n'Cheese, loved it, the end.

Beth Woodbridge

One of my favorite seafood restaurants in Vancouver. For the quality, I think the prices are on the reasonable side given Metro Vancouver. The seafood is fresh, and I'll recommend the starter platter (the King crab is the only thing I think may be previously frozen). The paella is packed with seafood. The salmon Wellington is their signature, but I find it is on the dry side and really needs the pesto sauce to help it out. No fuss good food restaurant to enjoy with your friends and family.

Sandra Lee

Service was great. Food was good

Alex Di Mario

Great restaurant. Good food, good service. I'd go back for sure and I've already recommended it to family.

Les D.

Food is good, price is on the higher side but not too bad. There is no background music but loud loud ambiance with bad aquatics, you need to yell at your company if you need to have a conversation or... text each other across the same table ???? The service is confused and usually toooooo late, takes a long time to receive food to drinks. Order couple of nights before you go there... otherwise it takes for ever to get your order.

Emily Collins

Great food!

Russell Nesbitt

First visit with friends who are regulars. Excellent food. Good service. Place is a tad noisy inspite of the acoustic ceiling tiles and bit too warm.

Lift Breakfast Bakery Chef Janer

Had dinner here with my husband last night.. He had the Halibut entree which I had a fork full sample. I would say is absolutely amazing dish. Their fresh oysters are great too (buttery kusshis) Though, not a big fan of their other entree (tenderloin). ordered medium but was overcooked. well I told myself, this is a seafood restaurant after all. Veg (beans) were not cooked (too stringy)... But appreciate the complimentary dessert.... I am still interested in trying out other menu in the future.... would rate this 3.5

Tiffany Sung

We had such an amazing evening at Fishworks! The staff were friendly, attentive and very entertaining. We especially liked Sergio (aka Larry/Clark haha )and Isabella! They were always tending to us, whether we needed more food or drinks, and making sure we were happy with our experience. We shared many laughs, and we genuinely enjoyed their company. The food was absolutely delicious, literally no complaints. The expo service was quick and ready to make our experience better. We still can't believe we have been missing out all this time living on the North shore! We will definitely be back and send our appreciation to Sergio and Isabella ????❤️ Cheers

Lana Moffat

Great location, awesome staff, and amazing food. We tried a few different items from the menu... the lobster bisque was delicious, the Salmon Wellington- the best! Lobster Mac n' cheese- excellent and so much flavor... last but not least …

William Paull

Friendly staff, reasonably paced service, excellent food.
