Our server was very slow. It took us from the moment we sat down till we gave our orders around 18-20 mins. When our food came out, it came on one plate at a time even though she said it was all ready. The food tasted fine, nothing to brag about just fine. The price of the food wasn't terrible , some good deals there if I must say so. The cutlery was kinda dirty too, didn't seem washed correctly or they were rusting. A lot of steps for someone who is injured. When paying, the rest of my party were leaving and I was paying, the server tried to talk to the leaving party even though it was obvious there was no interest and we we're in a rush to leave the place. Would I come back to this place. Maybe, if desperate for food.

I have enjoyed this family business ???? my entire life! My mom loves Johnny's friend chicken, my uncle loves his veal cutlet with mashed potatoes, my grandmother and grandfather brought us together for breakfast for all special occasions, and I bring my son here and he loves the gash browns. I always have the 80's special scramble with ???? bacon. Delicious food ????????!

Walked in 15 minutes before unusual early closure (it was the week of Christmas- reasonably) and my party of 3 was fully accommodated. We were allowed to order, and dine in. Our food was fast, delicious and the service prompt, pleasant and polite. Serving sizes were great for the value. I will absolutely be back, and I feel terrible that I’ve lived in the area so long without visiting! The restaurant also has DoorDash, and from what I’ve read, has gone out of its way to encourage vaccination among its employees. Dine in, take out, either way, you will be pleased! I ordered the British Burger- so good.

My family discovered this gem on our last visit to Vancouver. Phenomenal menu with an extensive selection of quality food! We loved it so much we returned the following night! I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp avocado club (not toasted), and chicken strips. While my family devoured chicken and ribs, lasagna, sweet crepes.....the list goes on. Our fabulous waitress for one evening was Jericho and she truly was a gem of a host, she was attentive, friendly, thorough and we thank her for our lovely experience. We will most definitely return

Eighties has always been a wonderful diner to go to. Great breakfast food at all times of the day. Friendly staff who really get to know returning customers - and most customers do return again and again! I've tried all aspects of the menu, and I've liked them all, but I will always recommend breakfast items. Many of my friends come back to the daily specials or appetizer selections, so there's more than just that which pleases. Good food, good prices, and a wonderful patio for sunny days.

Going to this restaurant since the 1990s. But now the staff seem really grumpy maybe Covid weary. But often times the food doesn't arrive as described. But the breakfasts are still well done. Prices are still reasonable.

Service was amazing but food is what really killed this review. Eggs benny was so bland I couldn’t even manage to eat more than half. We wanted to try this place cause of all the great reviews but really disappointing. Avoid unless you’re just there to fill your stomach.

Food just average. Service is great. Not really eighties themed in any particular manner. Food comes out hot and fast. Nothing spectacular. Prices are fair. Portions could be slightly more. Eggs Benny bland. Edible. But bland. Will try again. Edit. Went back for lunch. Got club and fries with gravy. This second meal was better and giving it a 3.9.

Decent breakfast. Could be a bit more 80s to be honest. But I always enjoy free refills on coffee. I liked the waffles, great bacon but the steak coulda been more flavorful. Worth a visit but I’ve had better.

Went for breakfast this morning with my wife and friend. First time since the new owners took over. Very unimpressed. Service was extremely slow. Took about 15 - 20 minutes to get a refill on coffee About 25 minutes for our meals to come. There was no follow up from the server to see how our meals were. Food was very blah. There wasn’t anything special about it and had zero taste. We used to come here all the time, but after today we will not be returning to this restaurant.

Nice tradicional cozy place. Sian did a good job with an impecable fast service. All our seafood, veggie and plain omelettes were very delicious and Sian understood our desire of not having carbo and replaced them by delicious salad. The chef salad was very well presented and generously delicious as well. Coffee was also a plus!!! It is a place to go back

I always loved this place, but since the pandemic I ordered a bacon benny and the egg yolks tasted just plain wrong. ive had their bacon benny many times and this time the egg yolks tasted rotten. Maybe it was just a one-off? They are normally pretty good.

Love this place the food is delicious! I really enjoy that the eighties is unpretentious, & offers reasonably priced, good quality food. There is a vintage vibe, but not full of gimmicks, just simple food & friendly service in a relaxed environment.

Nice no thrills place to grab breakfast or lunch with you family and friends. Coffee is tasty! Portions are large. Prices are very decent! A proper diner which are few and far between these days. Very nice staff and efficient service. Always a good experience.

Nice breakfast option in Lonsdale. Service was fast and efficient. Food is pretty standard but everything was done well. Clearly their approach had stood the test of time..there are trendier breakfast options out their but if you want a classic dining experience give the eighties a go..

My apologies for posting an erroneous review. I was misinformed. My family has been patrons of Eighties since they first opened. The owners are exceptional in how they treat their customers. It is one of the few places on the north shore that serves full course western meals that are delicious. Their breakfast menu is legendary . They have long term staff that work hard.

I've been going here for over 30 years and have never been disappointed until last weekend, apparently Eighties was sold to new owners, and its a change for the worse, I always order the eggs benny , the hollandaise was awful and the back bacon was chewy and low quality. Its so sad after all of these years that this new change will end my relationship with Eighties for good, to the new owners, if its not broke don't fix it!!

Our family has been going to Eighties for years. We usually bring our extended family or friends. On most days they deserve a solid five stars for service and food. Today was different - after we ordered we were informed of a 15% gratuity (which is around what we would have tipped). When we explained that we have been going here for years (and tip well) and usually bring more than five people and have never been forced charged a gratuity, the server said it was not a new rule. She was not one of the servers that recognized us. We have a family of three young children, all under ten years old, so we will always have five people or more. Anyways, what the server said, and the way it was presented, rubbed us the wrong way, it affected the joy of our meal, and makes us not want to return. The food service industry is all about experience and today's experience was poor.

We enjoy visiting for eggs Benny & coffee. It’s reasonably priced, spacious, and service is friendly. The wait can be long on weekends but that’s not really their fault due to covid restrictions/rules around limited indoor seating. The staff hustle hard and food never takes long. Especially on weekends, we love taking a break from cooking, enjoying a lovely meal, and not breaking the bank. Thanks Eighties Restaurant!

Inexpensive breakfast with decent portions. I love the pan fried potatoes. I've always had good service here until recently. I asked for a specific food item to be served on the side (I've requested this coutnless of times and it always came on a seperate plate). This time, it ended up on top and all over my omelette. I notified my server and all she said was "oh, okay..." and walked away without an apology or offer to replace my food. She also ignored the table for the remainder of our meal. A bit of a turnoff... This is why I changed my original rating to four stars (from five). I would be cautious dining here if you have severe food allergies.

Service is slow. Food is hot and fast. They're always busy. But waiting 20/minutes for a drink is a bit much. Good family spot for breakfast. And everyone is friendly. Last of a dying breed after church spot.

Thought this was a nice new restaurant for us to visit . Food is reasonably priced, staff are friendly. Reminds me of a truckers cafe. However I’m reluctant to go back because of cleanliness the ladies washroom is covered in spider webs and spiders all over floor and ceiling! Saw about 5 spiders. It was quite shocking actually. Even by the sink the light above was covered in webs. How can they not see this or clean it? Scared to know what the kitchen looks like! Hopefully owner sees this and gets a handle on it because I actually liked the place until I saw that!

I love this restaurant and so do my parents. It is close to may parents place and the prices are great. The service is always free day and the food is good. It has a Diner feel to it. They had sports games on and it's the kind of place you can sit for awhile and enjoy good company and a good meal.

eighties restaurant is another delicious place you can go for a great meal, whenever I had over there I usually just get the eggs Benny because it's so delicious. They have a bunch of other various menu items like clubhouse sandwiches and fried pickles. it's a laid-back quiet environment that's nice to go to to have a conversation with whoever you're with. And they've been around for a very long time.

Best and most affordable diner in North Vancouver. It can get busy during breakfast hours so you might wait five minutes to put in your order but the order will arrive at your table in less than five minutes so they definitely make up for it in the kitchen. My wife and I are very picky about our eggs and they’ve nailed it every single time. The home fries are delicious, toast is fresh and buttery, bacon and sausages are cooked perfectly, coffee keeps coming, booths are comfy... most breakfasts are $8-$12. Staff is friendly. Special shout out to Samantha for expediting the fruit bowl for our fussy baby and being a wonderful waitress. I haven’t yet been here for anything but breakfast but that’s the most important meal of the day!

I've been eating here since it opened. Not sure how many decades now ? I believe in all those years I have only had 1 unsatisfactory meal. All other food has been A1 and always very fast. I fully recommend this restaurant. I do miss some of the older servers from the past and Most of the new ones are awesome. The prices are affordable as well, the seafood crepe is awesome and so is the eggs bennie . Have a great day

I love this place! It's always busy on weekends so try to get there a bit before the hour to avoid the rush. Although they have a lot of tables so wait times are not that bad. The staff here are exceptional. They are always friendly, helpful, and responsive. Food is good typical cafe fare. The breakfast are good and big and even though this is the "Eighties" the burgers are from the "Fifties." Fun place to go for a family brunch or a quick bite.

I was looking for a place to grab an Omelette near me and went to Google. Since Google knows everything I thought I would give it a shot expecting it to say White Spot or Denny's. Instead this restaurant popped up so I thought why not, what have I got to lose. Well the inside is a bit dated but the servers are lovely people who are friendly and inviting. Ordered a Spinach and Cheese Omelet and was blown away. The eggs were not runny or overdone but perfectly cooked. The balance of spinach and cheese was excellent. I absolutely loved the dish and would highly recommend the Omelettes at this restaurant.

I understand a rule of waiting for your entire table to be there to be seated, but I just told them I was waiting on one person and that I was ready to order, I'm also pregnant and was ready to order my food, and quite famished. The server barely acknowledged my existence and told me to wait down the stairs in an incredibly passive tone, while taking one or two people parties and placing them at full tables without explaing why at the start. So when I asked the server why we couldn't grab a table and could we sit and order as it wasn't very busy at the time and I was ready to eat she pointed to the sign and in the crulest, rudest tone said "I think that sign is pretty clear, and I've already KINDLY asked you to wait down the stairs so you can go down there and wait." I have NEVER been spoken to like that and I actually left in tears. by far THE WORST customer service I've ever had and I will not be returning.

Eighties, has a great variety of meals. We had the Awesome Breakfast, my Wife Nora and i. The Server was very nice and friendly, very attentive and polite. We had a great day at Eighties, we,ve been coming here since the Eighties.there is parking underground. They have priority seating for Elderly and Disabled persons, a kids menu. The Resturaunt is clean, the staff all wear there medical masks, for your safety and there,s way to go staff!! We will be back for sure, we highly recommend Eighties. Nora & Manuel. 5 Stars for the cook/chef the service and the prices. When you open up again in May 2021 My wife and i would like to try a lunch menu? But your Breakfast menu is so awesome, so much to choose from? We always end up having the great breakfast. We,ll soon see. Glad that your back soon. Really Awesome Breakfast. Feel very safe there. But I occasionally see other customers giving the staff a hard time about the new Covid procedures. There is no place for these type of people at 80s. The staff are fantastic and just doing their job :)

I've been coming here since I was a child and my parents before me. Its a nice old fashioned restaurant that offers classics like milkshakes and green pepper steak. They have an amazing breakfast deal on weekday mornings. One of the best quality cheap breakfasts on the north shore.

Noticed bathrooms are never all that clean, but this time (sept 8th), absolutely disgusting, literally soiled floors, plugged sink and FLIES buzzing around! Told waitress, no apology, just a comment of ok. Then told Manager and again no apology, just ok. It appears the attitude is that the restaurant is doing me a favor by letting me spend my money there.

I was soaking wet, waiting to be seated. A second customer arrives and was served and accommodated BEFORE me. When I asked to the host (Vivian) why THIS CUSTOMER was attended before than me I received as an answer "it doesnt matter"... well... it matters to me... I arrived first and I was waiting as every customer, however CLEARLY THERE ARE FAVORITISM HERE. EVERYTIME THAT I COME TO THIS RESTAURANT THEIR SERVICE IS A MESS, however the food is tasty and well presented; that is why Im still coming back. IF I PAY FULL PRICE AND I TIP THEM, THE MINIMUM THAT I CAN RECEIVE IS A QUALITY SERVICE BECAUSE I AM PAYING FOR IT! Ps. Steady.Meat & Potatoes Anyone?Eggs Benny?Club house?Are you hungry?Decor slightly dated but that is why it is called “the Eighties’ Appropriate .You cannot go wrong .Enjoy the patio which overlooks City Hall as well as the Library courtyard .Very reasonable which allows for the 25% gratuity .Yes it is that satisfying. Clean , Bathrooms are sanitary. The staff are accommodating.Just ask! Enjoy a Saturday Brunch

Delicious Sunday Ceasars. Stake and egg cooked close to perfection. I liked their stye of hash brown, crispy on one side an sott on the on the other. Server was informative and professional. Food was prepared quickly by the same waitress. Wait time for table was minutes and when asked for the check, it arived quickly.

First of all going to say, love how the staff members are actively making sure everyone is vaccinated and following proper covid policies. Location + staff: 10/10 The staff are insanely friendly, and always doing their best to provide the best experience for us. There are various choices, I had gotten the tuna melt. The price was reasonable and the taste was delightful. I'd definitely recommend going to 80s for brunch. The only thing negative is their milkshake amount, their glass makes it look a lot bit it's actually a very small amount which was disappointing for the price.

I love how relaxed this place is. A look and feel of how North Van was in days gone by. You can get waffles with fried chicken, and liver and onions! The food is homey, so if you're looking for down to earth, genuine servers, this is your spot.

I WOULD NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. I went there for the first time on Saturday and I found a long hair in the eggs. I told told our server and she didn't say sorry, she asked if I want another one and I was like ok. She took the plate and brought two eggs and never came back to check on us. when I was about to pay, I noticed she didn't take off our bill (this is ridiculous) and she was rude about it that we brought another plate. Such a bad service and staff.
