This place should have a much higher overall score. The food was the best I have tasted. Tomato soup is never on my preferred list of choices, but after reading the reviews I had to try it. Wow!!! I have never had soup so good. They make it from scratch. The banana bread pudding was delicious. The service and hostess where second to none. Great place. I will be back for more.

It is a cosy place. Really nice and friendly staff. The food is great. We loved the ceviche (which we forgot to take a picture of since we were so hungry), mashed potato and the mac and cheese.

Loved the drinks and the service but sadly the food was just ok. The crab soup barely had crab in it and just tasted like tomato soup. The salad I couldn’t eat, but they refunded the money for it. Their mussels were good, but not the best I have had. They need more vegan options also. Too much dairy in almost everything.

Mediocre experience. Staff were friendly and happy, but they mixed up our order and it needed sorting out, then it needing sorting out again when the bill came. I found the portions pretty small to be honest. Good flavour but even the mac and cheese left me wanting more. Burgoo has fallen well behind in terms of quality and value. I no longer consider it a recommended stop.

This burgoo has plenty of seating, including a patio. On a Sunday evening, they had live music as well. There have been times where I've been quite disappointed with Burgoo, but my recent visit made me realize why I enjoyed their food in the first place. Their sandwich and soup combo is definitely the way to go. The have a good variety of both to choose from. I opted for the gooey cheese grillers and tomato soup. With some hot sauce added, it was delicious. The sandwich definitely had a gooey cheese factor. The soup was simple, but complimented the sandwich well. It really was comfort food at its finest. Service was great too, even though it was quite busy.

LOVE Burgoo. I think about making trips to Vancouver just to eat there! I love all the different dishes. Especially the soup with the Gooey Cheese Grillers (and Im not a big fan of cheese!) And the Lonsdale location is pretty amazing!

We have been going to Burgoo for years. Not just the Lonsdale location, but starting from the original W 10th Ave location. Decided to do Sunday comfort food and ordered online to pick up dinner this evening. After ordering, I was told it would be ready at 5:35. I arrive on time and advised that there was a ‘glitch” in the app and they just received the order. I was then told they would need 10 mins to prepare the food and to come back. 20+ mins later and the food is still not done. When I finally received my food, the manager did very little - if nothing to rectify. In fact her only explanation was that they had new staff and was a ‘mistake’. As I said to her, the current staff shortages are understood, but just throwing your hands up in the air and giving me a blank stare isn’t the solution and carte blanche excuse. They offered no remedy or solution: Lots of businesses are struggling, consumers are doing everything we can to support them but when things go wrong and they will, I would hope the business addresses it and solves it without excuses or ignoring the matter. While we love their food we won’t be doing take out or delivery with them for the foreseeable future.

Specializing in comfort food from around the world. We started with the meatballs, amazing! I had the Mac and More. Mac and cheese with a little extra. I highly recommend it, I can confidently say the best Mac and cheese I've ever had. Also tried the crab bisque, it was good but not super flavorful. Overall a great value. Reasonable prices compared to nearby options. Try this place. Make a reservation if you can.

We also had their chocolate fondue for Valentine's day and it was also delicious. Definitely wanna go back again and would recommend it if you're thinking of trying this place out.

I was served a cup of soup that had been warmed up in a microwave oven. I know that because it was a thicker soup and parts of it were hot while the others were cold. I stirred it to make it consistent and what I got was this awful, lukewarm, thick thing. I ate it because I don't send food back; have no interest in spit in my food, thank you! But I doubt that I will go back. One would expect to get fresh food at that price but one would be wrong!!!!

Burgoo - North Vancouver Finally had a chance to try this comfort food place. The interior is very cozy. Got the grilled cheese with a side of mashed potatoes, Shrimp appetizer and Brie Fondue. Loved the apples and grapes with the fondue. Server seemed tired and a bit confused but overall good service. Can get a bit too loud inside the restaurant. Grilled cheese sandwich dipped in Fondue cheese was not bad at all.

Had lunch with my family and was not a pleasant experience. The cooks should taste the products they are hot holding. The seasoning in the butternut squash soup was overpowered with clove, making it inedible. The reheated kentucky burgoo was reheated one too many times and should have been tossed all of these things could have been prevented if you tasted your products on your line check and our experience would have been stellar. Don't think we will be back but I hope you take the advice to heart.

Good food and nice atmosphere! Wait time can be a bit long but they will text you when you're table is ready so you can walk around and enjoy the quay. The mead selection is lovely! The beef bourguignon was delicious but I wish it came with a small side of potatoes or bread (you have to pay extra for that). Ceviche was also quite good.

There are a lot of rainy nights in North Vancouver, this restaurant takes the edge off them. We have enjoyed many good meals at this location. The staff are welcoming and thoughtful. The food is hearty and tasty, without stuffing you. The only complaint is their short beer menu, the ones they have are good, but a longer list would be better.

Delicious food. I order the French onion soup every time I go and it's always wonderful. This time we had about a twenty minute wait to get a table but once we were in, service was prompt. Tried the nachos Pollo, those were really good, good enough that sharing with two other people was a little difficult, could have eaten more.

Ordered takeout from Burgoo the other day. We ordered three orders of Mac and cheese and two of their chicken and apple sandwiches with soup on the side. The three Mac and cheese dishes were refrigerator cold. They hadn’t even been heated up. The two sandwiches were dripping with mayonnaise and the bacon was undercooked- so bad that neither got eaten. The only good part of the meal was the soups, which were quite good.

Waited over an hour for food, requested side plates that never came, we got up and grabbed our own. My mac and cheese was a garlic bomb, I couldn't actually taste cheese. My boyfriend got the Sheppards pie but he found it very bland, I also never received my salad. Low and behold they still charged me for it, which shows how much anyone there actually pays attention to their customers. No service whatsoever. Tables next to us remained dirty and not cleared for easily 30 mins and there was maybe 6 tables of people inside and 5 outside. The owner or perhaps the manager tried to explain that the day was crazy but that's not an excuse, especially when the place is half empty at 2pm. If your restaurant cant handle 12 tables you probably shouldn't be open.

Not bad, not great. Our waitress was also the bartender, and she was overworked, overwhelmed, and sinking fast despite trying her best. She was getting no help from the other waitstaff on shift either, who were masters of avoiding eye contact and dodging not-subtle attempts to get their attention. The food was good though, and the Manhattan clam chowder special soup was delicious.

Not much to say positively. There is no way this restaurant deserves the good reviews. Been there a number of times and all mediocre experiences. To start, the sangria portion was well on the small, yet expensive side. The sandwiches are all pre made so small requests for adjustments are not possible. For our group, all that ordered sandwiches were quite disappointed in the taste and the amount between the bun. The Mac and Cheese, times two orders, was dry and tasteless. The bisque was watery and lacked crab, I think there was three small pieces of crab in the soup bowl. I can say with confidence that we will not be returning anytime soon. There are a lot more other restaurants with better food.

Came here on a weekday in the evening and despite having only one server for the fully occupied place, I must say the service was surprisingly good. We ordered beef stew, pierogi with sausage, mash potatoes and ratatouille. Everything came hot and was simply delicious! Even thought we couldn’t finish our food it was hard to resist churros with hot chocolate fondue. But I would prefer to have a choice of chocolate for the fondue because not everyone can appreciate chili flavored chocolate (we didn’t). Overall, a good and unpretentious place for a comforting meal.

I loooove Burgoo! They are the definition of comfort food and their meals are so delicious. My favourite thing to order is the afterschool special with soup and sandwich. They have very friendly staff and it was so nice to hear live music from the past with a modern twist! The reason why I leave four stars is honestly because the appetizers and "share" plates were abnormally small especially for the price (this place is a bit expensive). The Ceviche was made for ants it made both my sister and I giggle to ourselves for a couple minutes (even though it was delicious). Overall, great place, good food, warm comfort!

Mediocre experience. Our server handed us the wrong drinks (there were only two of us). We thought that was odd considering he just took the order minutes prior. We each got the 'After school special' and once again the server forgot who ordered what when he dropped them off. One of our soups were hot, while the other was room temperature. What a comfortable and hearty place to have a meal. The lighting inside is so romantic and rustic, the feel of this restaurant is enough to make any girl swoon (gentleman this is a fantastic date night spot right beside the Quay). Fonduemental, CHE (4.5/5): Delicious cheese fondue to start a meal, a pot of molten Gruyere & Emmenthal served with apple chunks, grapes and crusty bread. The sweet of the fruits and bread pairs well with the saltiness of the cheese. You can even ask for more bread if needed! Usually after all the fruits and bread, there is still a bit of leftover cheese which is delicious on its own, but a bit salty, hence the need for "dipping fodder". Macaroni & Cheese (USA) (4.5/5): So very decadent with the aged white cheddar hugging onto elbows of macaroni. This is so rich and flavourful, and definitely tastes more "elevated" than just cheesy macaroni and cheese, it's like the adult version of your childhood favourite. HANDS DOWN ALL TIME FAVOURITE: Chocolate Banana bread Pudding: Served in a little hardy cup, the warm, gooey, cinnamon and banana-y mixture with bits of melting dark chocolate chips is topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Honestly, what else can a gal ask for other than ice cream, chocolate and gooey? Do yourself a favour and if you just want dessert, it's worth coming here wherever you are just for the chocolate banana bread pudding.

In the Beer Garden, North Vancouver we placed a food order from Burgoo. We waited so long for the food so we decided to call Burgoo and ask for a refund. The manager talked with us and said that she can offer a dessert on top of the food. Because I had already waited so long . After a while the waiter came and in an unpolite manner dropped the food on our table with no dessert. The customer service and the food quality was very poor.

Rolled into Burgoo N. Van with no reservations at 7pm on a Thursday, and the place was packed. The wait time for our table of two was likely going to be an hour, but their fondues and Mac and Cheese dish would have been well worth the wait. We agreed to stay and stick it out as we'd had an awful day and were definitely not hiding it well. The staff immediately took notice of our red-upset eyes and near homeless dress and the lovely hostess squeezed us into a cozy corner within minutes (which was likely a reserved table). The waiter's caring service was phenominal and he treated us with the utmost respect even though were we the messy crying couple at table 7. If I could reccomend one restaurant in this entire city that TRULY defines the term "comfort food/service"-Burgoo nails it on both the fun and not-so-fun days. Thank you for everything. ????

Stopped here for dinner recently on a Tuesday. Despite the day of the week, the restaurant was fairly busy, and I did have to wait 15 minutes for a table for two. Once seated, a server greeted my table promptly and took our order, at which point our food was up in about 15 minutes, so great speed of service. Our waitress was friendly, as well. I opted for their soup and sandwich combo, getting their crab bisque and Dos Diablos sandwich, whereas my fiance got their Tasty Chicken Sandwich and mushroom soup. My bisque soup was very tasty, although I would have preferred it a bit creamier tasting and less tomato-y, but that's a minor nitpick. My sandwich was also plenty good, although I was left feeling that the sandwich could have had a bit more substance, namely more chorizo. Overall, a really positive experience, and I would gladly recommend this place to others. Do note that there are some parking lots nearby you'll want to aim for, as there isn't much in the way of street parking.

I've been a Burgoo patron for a while now, but this was my first visit to the Lonsdale version. Arrived right at opening time on a Sunday morning, and was pleasantly surprised not to have to line up. The server, Gary, was welcoming and gregarious, and kept our coffees always hot and full. The menu was no surprise to me, and my recommendation of the signature grilled cheese and tomato soup to my partner was received with rave reviews. The Burgoo was delicious, as always. I am pleased that the somewhat eclectic stylings of Burgoo are available just a seabus ride away from the bustle of downtown. I'll be back, for sure.

I love the food here. Servers are usually good, too. Sometimes the food is a bit salty. Live music on Sunday nights is good sounding, but usually too loud. My dad took out his hearing aids, and still found it too loud, and hard to hear. My ears were ringing a bit after and it was hard to talk. If you want dessert, order it with your main, cause if you wait too long in the evening, they might sell out!! Friends swear by the sticky toffee pudding, I prefer the spicy hot chocolate pudding. Yum!!

Didn't work for me, didn't really enjoy the variety of food option, and the food we got was largely uninteresting. They put a very large and loud young family in the middle of about 6 tables of couples. I won't be returning soon.

Great homestyle meals. Had the wings, Mac and cheese, and tomato soup. All were delicious. Will definitely be coming back! Great service even though it was quite busy. Food came out bubbling hot.

I've loved this place for years. Awesome salads in addition to their regular fare. My bread was burnt this time so I would ask for it toasted lightly if you value the roof of your mouth. I will keep going back!

The cheese fondue the bread board is one of my favorites from burgoo. Lots of comfort food... not so great of you are trying to stay on a Ketogenic Diet ???? I am a big fan of their grilled cheese sandwich with apple slices... who knew you could combine them....

Friendly and helpful service, good beers, the soup and sandwich combo is delicious. There was a wait for a table when we arrived, but we had our meal at the bar which was a pleasant experience. The bartender was good company.

Do yourself a favour and order the After School Special, with the Gooey Cheese Grillers and a Soup. I’ve not found a soup I didn’t LOVE at Burgoo, but I especially like the sunset corn and chicken. Oh, and don’t add bacon or cheese to the cheese griller. It’s perfect as-is.

Great service and great food. A joint known for their comfort food, and they pretty much nail it everytime. Big fan of their chicken pot pie. A must try, loved the ambience as well.

Macaroni and cheese originally came out cold, after waiting about 45 minutes for it, so I was understandably disappointed at first, but as soon as I let the waitress know of the problem, she swiftly came back with a freshly made one. I would’ve been fairly satisfied at that point, but then she comes back and let’s me know that my dish is on the house due to the mistake, and that I had to pay for none of it. Good food, and amazing customer service. Definitely would love to come back here again.
