We heard they have the best burgers in the area - not sure about that claim but they were darn good and the homemade chips were outstanding! Service was excellent from the hostess greeting to the waitress - I noted a few other reviewers had poor service at times but we did not experience it. Downside was when we ordered Creme Brûlée for desert. It is large enough for two to share but the size also made it more difficult for the kitchen to properly caramelize the sugar topping, or perhaps they were just rushed since they apparently lost our dessert order along the way. The dessert did not live up to the quality of the burger and chips.

Been here twice and I have to say the food is absolutely outstanding. I had the chicken sandwich and the cottage pie. Was with large parties both times and everyone raved about their food. Although in a strip mall beside a shoppers the inside has the look and feel of a pub. I would highly recommend the Garrison House to anyone in Niagara on the Lake.

Ok wow, and not a good wow. I use to dine here and really enjoyed the food. Everything use to be seasoned and well thought out. Unique and beautiful dishes use to be served here not that long ago but not any more. What the heck happened to the good food and service at The Garrison House?! The way the staff spoke about the owners made ME feel uncomfortable. I dined here last week for the first time in months and it has done a complete 180.

Great food, bad service. We got a lady that seemed to be upset. She respected no social distance, took our order too close to us. We asked her questions and she seemed more annoyed. She was dying to clear our table and without us realizing she took away a plate that still had food and one was still eating. Another server came to take some plates and we told her the other server had taken away the food. She did not seem to care and said I will tell her. Minutes later, our server comee back with the food in a bag. The food was extraordinarily good, the service needs a lot of improvement.

I’ve been here twice now, and can confidently say you can expect a delicious meal here! Had to wait about 30mins for a table, but other than that, no complaints. Food is DELICIOUS, reasonably priced and unique. The Brunch Strawberry Cider is a must try - literally the most delicious cider I’ve had, and a refreshing shift from all the wine we were drinking elsewhere. Light, bubbly and perfect accompaniment for their burger. Service was great too! Will be back again.

I had the chef special sandwich it was so tasty and delicious. I liked the pumpkin soup but it had too many spices and made the taste different more like Indian soup. The service was fine, It would be much better if the server had an actual mask instead of just a face cover. I would go back agin it’s one of the best in Niagara on the lake area.

What a find, amazing fresh local food. I had the daily meatball sub with homemade french fries and the wife had the burger, both were incredible. Plan a stop here, you won't be disappointed! Will be back, what a gem!

Loved this experience. The food was so good, I wish I had more stomach room so I could try more things. The oysters were great and so was the hoisin short rib special which had a nice spicy sweet mix to it. The zucchini fritters were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside like the fries which were some of my favorites! Great service as well.

Fantastic burgers and dessert. This place rivals the best burgers available in Toronto or New York — cooked perfectly, with the perfect fixins and sauces; the Garrison burger and turkey burger are definitely must-try items. The fries were cooked to perfection, and served with barley vinegar and ketchup. The sticky toffee pudding was a perfect way to polish off the meal; a heaping, generous portion size topped with fresh local cherries to end a great meal. Would highly recommend — there are many winery restaurants in the area, but this establishment easily bests most or all of them.

I would give less if I could. We stopped here on our way home from NOTL. Pretty sad this was where we ended up. Server was kinda cold. Shrugged it off at first. We ordered a started and two salads. Starter was there pretty quick. But salads took forever. I was drinking a gluten-free IPA, I thought it tasted a little off, drank nearly half and realized the can had expired 5months ago. We told a server who brought our salads and she looked shocked, and said she'd take it. Asked if I wanted another drink. I said no. She told our server who came and asked if I wanted another drink I said I was ok. And she walked away. No apology was ever made. They did remove it from our bill, but kinda just wanted us out was the feeling we got. My husband was fuming when we left. I can understand things happening, mistakes happen. But the situation wasn't handled properly. It wasn't handled at all! I'm now at home inside with a sick stomach, our day has ended early. It concerns me as to how many others were served that or if they even removed them from the shelf.

Great meal/night out. Was 468 Appetizer night with Live music-guitar soloist. My wife and I enjoyed the warm olives and vietnamese fried brussel sprouts appetizers and the fish special, salmon on a kale, bacon, potatoes chowder. Was delicious.

The food was great and the atmosphere was nice but the service was not good at all. Our server was a an old lady and she seemed to not understand what “social distancing” means!! She was in our face all the time and her mask was not even a mask, just a plastic clear thing. She decided to clear the table while we were seating there and she was in our face the whole time!! Completely unacceptable!! Also, I asked for a straw and she brought one with her hands, literally touched the whole straw and put it in my drink! I took it out and asked her to bring the straws so I could take one myself. She said all of them has been touched by someone. WHAT??? COVID-19 is not something new and did not happen last night, we have been dealing with this pandemic for about a year now. As a restaurant they need to find solutions and adapt to this new normal. They need to have CLEAN STRAWS for their customers. Anyway, after several minutes she brought a new pack of straws and asked me to take one. Nice of her to do this but what about other customers? You shouldn’t go through this much of a headache for a clean straw!

Great location, very good wine and finally excellent food. I have great respect for restaurants who have plan to service any client who come through their door. I asked for a vegetarian meal and they recommended the curry meal. I cannot explain how satsified I was this delicious meal. I highly recommend this place.

The service is pretty bad here. The host gave me a look when I was waiting to talk to her. I gave her the benefit of doubt that it didn't mean anything. I tried to ask a question she interrupted me before I can finish my sentence and didn't get what I was asking and the tone was with attitude and impatient. I know I have accent but no way I deserve that kind of service!!!! It took over half for 2 Caesar salads to be served and waited long time to pay for the bill. The food is good but will need better service here!!!

Food was very yummy. There was a line up when we arrived, but we got in quite quickly. They also offered us drinks as we were waiting - which made it much more pleasant! Service was a little lacklustre when we got inside, but would definitely visit again.

I took my Australian friend there for the first time. Our waitress, Danielle was exceptional. It’s the best service we have ever received at a restaurant. I had a cottage pie and my friend had soup with fries. We were both ???? percent satisfied with our meals. I will take friends and family here again!

The food here is fairly good. The burger was great along with the calamari but the creme brûlée was ‘okay’. It’s also a bit pricey given what our dishes were but it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for some decent food in the area.

Review update 2021. Sept. Highly disappointed with this location.... First visit they were super great,....this time around...indirectly insulting and I was rejected the Chicken fingers meal...for kids. The owner showed up and my beer was so bad that I had to ask for a new one. She just added some foam on it to make 8t look better. When you dont hustle for 5 star reviews then you slacking hard...this is a reflection of your ideology and menu reduced stars because of really below standard service. Wont come back here no more. Really disappointed ???? Hope they change down the road. They also should take some oxygen breaks so they are not so agitated all the time. Its sad but true Last note....they even got the bill wrong ___________ Initial review 2018 Great Service, food was great, initial contact was cold but 99.9% of the rest of the staff was extreamly friendly. Big shout out to the chef. My Steak went sideways but my sisters stake ways awesome. Wify, Mom, Dad loved their food. Management came and said hi, the only thing holding me up giving 5 stars was the little buggers that they are trying to get rid of. Other than the summer issue. Food beer and service was fantastic. I appreciate the management service and all the staff making this a great experience for us here. Keep up the good work and rock on.

One of our favourites in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Great service and cuisine at reasonable prices. Sure beats fast food! Better than most wineries. Delivery of main course to table can be slow, but worth the wait. Flavour combinations and seasonings are perfect. We'll be back.

My partner and I took visiting friends here last night. The menu is very small, we felt limited in our choices. Our waitress (short older women, glasses, pixie cut- she never told us her name) was very unfriendly throughout the evening, even our visitors commented on it which my partner and I both expressed we agreed. Myself and the other women got the chicken.. it was meh. For the price, I hoped for a great piece of chicken and frankly I have had much better so that was disappointing. My partner had the steak and asked for it done medium. The steak came medium rare, not a big deal but that plate was nothing special. The other friend had the burger and said it was good but again, nothing memorable. Slightly embarrassed as hosts that it was kind of a fail. At 9pm we felt the waitress wanting us to hurry up and depart. Our friend with the burger had his plate taken from him twice before he was finished. The first time was a simple misunderstanding but a few minutes after that our waitress came and took his plate without asking if he was finished. We had to stop her and express he wasn’t finished yet. Overall wouldn’t return and would recommend other NOTL favourites.

Excellent and quick service! We had the viet Brussel sprouts, sausage pasta special, and fish special: a halibut on Niagara veggies on an interesting vanilla bean puree. Overall great portions for your buck, and yummy comfort food!

The food is really good but they've alienated a couple of well paying customers at multiples tables at the same time. I've made this place a very noteable location for me and my siginificant others until today because of dispute over payment. The server decided to inform both tables, mine and the other, that they didn't want to take our payments (Amex) because the owners had instructed them not to. This is inspite of having multiple times paid at this location with Amex. I make it a habit to only go to locations that value my business and take my money as I want to pay, and for me that's with my Amex card. I will not be returning despite really enjoying this place, because clearly how I want to pay isn't important enough to them.

Simply great! The place is on the way to niagara on the lake (5mins drive to center), so we stopped for lunch on our way before arriving to niagara on the lake. We ordered burgers and they were very good. They do have a variety of good selections from vegetarian to fish option. Also good service and value for money.

Very underwhelmed. I'd heard so many good reviews from family and friends, but did not see this when I finally went. Service was slow and honestly kind of frazzled and impolite. Our "gluten-free" burger was literally just a patty with a cheese slice served on a giant plate... Not impressed. I will say that the food that was being served to other tables looked really good. But service was below average and it's really not a good place to go if you have any dietary restrictions.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner tonight from the Garrison House, curb-side pick up. Carefully prepared and packaged meals, hot & ready for our arrival, and delivered to our car in the parking lot. Generous portions and great value. The Fried Chicken Sandwich with Caesar salad and tavern chips (with gravy, of course) was terrific, just spicy enough, but the star of the show was the featured Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich. Trust me, there has never been a tastier sandwich ever made. Absolutely phenomenal! We will definitely be back. Thanks Leigh!

Over the past five years we’ve had some great meals at The Garrison House, and could always count on everything on the menu being excellent. Recently though the quality of the food has sadly diminished. We continue to love this warm, inviting place and the kind and generous hospitality of the people who run TGH, and once the food is back to its earlier excellence we’d definitely make it a five star choice.

We've been getting take out from Garrison House during pandemic times, and the food is as excellent as we are used to during our regular in person visits, and the service is as friendly as always. The burger is so incredible, the fried chicken sandwich is crisp and tender, and the curry is so rich and flavourful. I love their menu - it has something for everyone!! One of our favourite spots in NOTL.

If you are interested in a beautiful ambiance and the most incredible food, the garrison is the place for you. The food is hot, the portions are large and the flavor is out of this world! The fried chicken sandwich is the best thing you ever had. The ricotta gnocchi is other worldly and honestly you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Reasonable prices to make everything worth a try!! If you are in Niagara wine region do yourself a favor and stop in for a dine!

The beer selection is great, service is incredibly friendly. Very safe restaurant/bar to visit as social distancing protocols are in place. If you havent had it yet, I would recommend the fries with gravy on the side. Wow, what a great gravy!!

Great location and atmosphere. A great menu with a good - but not overwhelming - number of options. Good selection of local beers and wines as well. We started with the beet hummus which was delicious. And had the garrison burger and the fried chicken burger. Both were excellent and recommended. The service was fantastic and we can’t wait to come back on our next visit.

The food was amazing, calamari were soft and tender, not too salty. The tomato cream soup had a splash of pesto which worked perfectly together. Burrata salad with grilled peaches, mint and tomatoes was amazing. Last but not least the Fonduta (if I remember the name correctly) with naan, that was out of this world. Our server was Jared and he's awesome too!

Leanne was amazing ! It’s been so long since I’ve had a great, down to earth server. She told us the specials of the day, rang everything in Correctly and timed everything out perfectly. She’s was such a breathe of fresh air. And on top of it all, I was just curious about cheesecake (because I love cheesecake) and she asked 2 different servers and a manager as to where I can get cheesecake. Thank you Leanne and the Garrison house staff. We will definitely be back !
