The menu is a bit intimidating, especially for a first timer. But once you get the hang of it things flow nicely and the server did a great job of explaining everything. I had the Lean Elk patty with the Born To Brie Good toppings, no bun. AND of course I had to try the milkshake. After deliberating whether to make my own or go for the Chef Creations - I chose the chef inspired Strawberry Cheesecake. Wow! I was blown away. Best milkshake I've had in ages and it tasted like something I would make at home. The burger was great but the milkshake ... Outstanding!!! As i write this, I wanna head down there and get one right now. That's how good it was.

The Works has an interestic aesthetic and a great burger selection. Their menu has an amazing number of burgers you can buy and I've liked all the ones I've tried. They also have takeout that you can request. It's definitely one of the places I'll go to for a good burger in Waterloo.

Overall not bad. The burgers are ok, they look better than they taste. The service was good but the food took a lot of time to be ready. Place is usually busy though. Overall, if ur looking for a heavy meal, this might be one of the best choices in that area. My preference would be kelsey's across the street from them though.

Below average service, okay food. The waiter asked if it was "alright if I served the beer in a can" and was a bit too eager to take our food and drinks away. They also had a less than average selection and ran out of their beers halfway through the dinner. My blue cheese burger was unmelted and the bread was not fresh. I would say it's a fine place to go if you're sloshed and hungry and like to sit down to some good old tunes. The amount that they give you is more than enough, I have to say that.

Amazing unique menu, decor and vegan options. We always go here when family or friends are visiting and it's an instant hit. The large menu has a lot of character and options. Burgers range from elk to gourmet veggie and mushroom cap, and all burgers have dozens of options of prefab or custom toppings. Very north American beer menu and lots of great starters.

Not really recommend. We waited for 45 mins for a Mc Donalds‘ burger. lol The patty is not what we saw on the pictures，and the taste is just fine. Maybe we had a higher expectation. The food in this place is not worth it.

If you like burgers, look no further. The Works burger specializes in burgers and does it well. Their menu is very extensive and nothing is stopping you from building your own. They have different meats like elk that you can have the burger made from and different buns, like pretzel. The sides are all very good and fries are unlimited. Appetizers are also a treat here and I recommend the potato on a stick. If you're looking for some comfort food or just a different kind of burger, this place will tick all your boxes. Finally, if you're gluten sensitive or vegetarian, you will find you are well accommodated here.

I love the ambience of this place and LOVE the peanut butter/nutella shake (kid size is enough for me lol) However do not recommend the Impossibly sexy burger (I chose it becuase I was trying to go vegan), the patty was a bit burnt, it was hard to digest. Maybe it was cold and my stomach happened to be not at its best but later that night I had to throw up which hasn't happened to me in a year. I don't know what happened exactly, but paying 17$ plus tax with this experience isn't that great. and never choose lettuce bun, because that is just really not worth the burger experience. On the contrary side, my bf who got not your grandpa BBQ burger with buns and his whole dining experience is just amazing, and worth the price. He was really happy at the taste and I agree. So, yes, go with the traditional type of burger and shakes at this place.

We came here last night and tried the “bacon you fancy huh” and were a bit disappointed because the burger was really dry. Considering that it is a burger restaurant, I would have thought it would have been the best part of the meal. Other than that everything was great. Our server was nice and helpful. The onion rings were delicious. Also, tequila shots are around 3.50 each which is a pretty good deal.

We got there and it took forever for them to seat us, then for them to take our order and to get our food. We were there for almost 2 hours on a Tuesday night. Also the burger patties was extremely bland despite all the toppings.

A nice surprise. Nice cozy booths available. The burgers are very good. 3 of us went for lunch and all really enjoyed it. I ordered the "Son Of A Beech" burger. (Avocado, sundried tomato & Feta). Excellent. The burgers have some pretty funky names. Didn't try the shakes but they looked very good. Next time I guess.

This is easily the right way to make a burger. 10 super delicious burgers with great side dishes - we tried number 3 and 9 and onion rings - supper delicious meals. Very nice service as well. Should try it.

Delicious burgers! My husband and I were craving burgers and we went to WORKS on friday. We called ahead and the let us know that seating is first come first serve. We were lucky an got seated in 5 minutes as a few tables left. We ordered the bacon wrapped cheese balls which were fresh and delicious. The garlic aioli was perfect pairing. I ordered the pig popper with grilled chicken breast with peppercorn crust with a side of onion rings and my husband got wagyu beef burger with side of premium briskett poutine. My burger was beyond delicious!! The onion rings were super crispy and tasty too. I got a side of their hotter than hell sauce which isnt that hot but quite delicious. The only reason I am detecting a point is because my husband didnt like his poutine and initially when we were getting seated the server took us to an uncleaned table which my husband pointed out. Everything after that was flawless from a server perspective. We were the last ones to leave as we completely lost track of time, talking and enjoying the restaurant ambience after a long time.

This is the best burger joint in my opinion in Waterloo. Huge selection of unique and very interesting burgers. Their patty is always juicy, and there are lots of fun topping choices. Recommend the son of a beech burger, the avocado adds a tasty spin to the burger. Also, free onion ring tower if you sign up on their website, great deal!

I've been to this location many times, and for the most part my experience has been quite good. The burger selection is quite good and I love their sweet potato fries. The only negative feedback I have is that the service can be slow sometimes, even when it's not that busy, but overall this is a good place. I'd personally give it a 4.5 star rating, but google doesn't allow that.

Staff is very friendly. Ambience is great with a good vibe to it and they paid attention to every detail. They have a lot options in burgers so you definitely need to think before placing an order. The description for each burger is well written as its very witty. Must try if you're in or around the neighborhood.

Been Four or five times and the common theme is waiting for your order.......i guess it's more than just a burger.....on the good side.....the milkshakes are great and a peanut putter burger is not as bad as it sounds. One time, the manager comp'd us a voucher for milkshakes due to the long wait.....left a good impression that the staff cared, and table staff were great.

The wait to get in the restaurant wasn't that bad considering all the other restaurant were packed. Once we sat down we already knew what we wanted to order the waiter was quick to get us drinks and said our food would be on the way. After 30 minutes we started to get impatient. While we were sitting down and waiting for our food people we're coming and going and receiving their food. We sat down and waited for an hour and THIRTY MINUTES. So we went to the front of the kitchen to ask why our food wasn't ready and their response was their was a problem in the kitchen. They proceeded to say they haven't even started to make our order. It was getting late so we waited another 10 minutes and asked the waiter how long it would take for the to come, he said they were plating our food finally. But of course the "plating" of the food took another 20 minutes so we just left and told the restaurant to cancel the order. Horrible service, the only good thing about this restaurant is the waiters. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!! Disgraceful restaurant

First time at The Works for lunch on a Saturday. Service and staff is like no other. Joint is amazing and unusully decorated. Food is more than amazing. Fresh and and prepated for individual person. Our server was Adam and his service was more than outstanding. Been to lots of places in Kitchener and he is the best server i have seen not only Kitchener Waterloo. You will not regreat it if you come her and try anything. Dont mind the unhappy and grumpy reviews and reviewers. Not the way they say it is. More than 5*. Quality food costs more and takes longer to prepare.

My server Aly was terrible. 10/10 Karen. I asked for a fork for my salad. I don't know if she heard me wrong but when she handed me the fork, she gave me a lot of attitude and said I could ask nicely next time instead of being super rude to her. I then felt terrible for the whole dinner because I thought I had said something wrong but when I nicely asked for the bill, she again gave a lot of attitude and being super rude. She then refused to finish waiting our table and sent another server to give us our bills. We asked the new server if Aly could come talk to us to see what I said and what I did wrong but then she refused to come and said she was terribly busy even though there were 3 other tables in a fairly empty restaurant. She was also the manager on duty. The food is really good and I have been here a couple of other times yet I haven't ever encountered this type of server in my life.

Great, fresh burger! Interesting combinations of toppings to elevate a burger, so a bit more expensive than most, but worth it. Six Degrees of K'vin Bacon is really good. I can recommend it. We were in on a Sunday evening and it was not busy. It did seem to take quite a while for food to come, about 30 minutes for four burgers. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. They have gluten free buns and all but a few of the many topics are also gluten free.

We stopped at this place for supper tonight on our visit to the Canada side of Niagara Falls. After walking all the way up the hill and seeing a few restaurants that looked nice, we settled on this one because of their massive burger menu. Boy are we glad we did! The atmosphere was fun, the food was amazing, the beer was great, and the staff was some of the friendliest people I've ever met. The owner came out and checked on our table, And our server, Rachel was top notch! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody walking up Clifton Hill!

The Works is a fun change from your usual burger joint. The whole restaurant is done up in an industrial feeling, so right off the bat it looks different. It is espically nice in summer, when they can open the big garage door windows. Service wise, I have never had a problem there. The staff are friendly, and fun, and seem to be encouraged to joke and have a good time with their customers, which I find relaxing. I have been to The Works a number of times, and the one time I did have an issue, my server, Reuben, sorted it out quickly, so service i would state is definetly good. There can be wait times for a table, during a dinner rush, more so on the weekend, usually around 6ish, I find. The choice of burgers are amazing and delicious. They offer a variety of patties for those with different tastes or needs (ground beef, chicken, turkey, vegetarian, etc) as well as some high class patties made from elk, which are priced more, which is understandable. The variety of burgers changes up, as they offer new flavours or ideas. I, personally, love the Sum Yung Guy, which is cream cheese, gouda, carmalized onions and bacon. Also, i enjoy the side dishes that come with it, because you can get more than jsut your standard onion rings and fries, they also have spicy die cut chips, steamed brocoli, and a few others. Price wise, I have seen complaints, in regards to the serving size, but can not see the problem. Between the decent size burger, and the side dish, not to mention you are paying for a quality burger, not something you would get at McDonalds. As well, as the wait time, which can be about 20 minutes, seems reasonable, considering the quality you get in return. The few times I had to wait longer was during a dinner rush, which isn't my favourite time to go anyways. Overall, The Works is a nice, different take on the burger, and it is a great way to introduce someone to trying something new, espically in terms of burger toppings. (like peanut butter, now a favourite of my girlfriend.)

Love, love, love! This place is incredible. I saw there is one in London, ON. I always must plan my vaca eats in advance because I can't eat gluten. I was planning on hitting the London location when I go to Chicago in October but was so happy to see there was a location in Niagara Falls for my birthday this June. I can't eat gluten due to an auto-immune disease and was overjoyed to see how many GF options this place had. They have SO many burgers to choose from! I had trouble narrowing down my choice, which means I need to eat there more often so I can try them all. Imagine being GF and seeing that the poutine is something you can eat. I was over the moon! They also have GF buns that do not crumble and fall apart...they are delicious and just like the real thing. And options....aren't options king in dining out choices these days? You can add anything you want to the already perfectly-put-together burger choices. You can also change your patty. They have a Waygu beef patty that is to-die-for. I even got to add peppercorn to that! I finally settled on the Sexy Burger. I used to be a cautious, eat-the-same-old-thing diner. That changed once I started going to Mardi Gras every year. And I can promise you that The Works has a burger for every taste and preference. I love pineapple and decided to finally try it on a burger. So glad I did this because it was delicious! I did add the Kobe patty with peppercorn, carmelized onions, and I think I did Brie too. I ordered in with Skip the Dishes and the food arrived very timely and hot. The burger was so good. Like I said before, the bun is money. It was toasted and held up to that monster burger. The pineapple with that Wagyu beef was unreal. I also ordered the Tragically poutine, which had bacon, and it was so, so, so good. Just having poutine was such a treat. I really enjoyed this first dinner on my birthday trip to Niagara Falls. It was just so wonderful to get away for the first time and have such an amazing dinner. I then discovered there was a The Works in our hometown of Kitchener. We will be ordering dinner here a lot!

First time there. Frustrating experience. Took over 40 min to get food after waiting 15 min to order. Restaurant was 1/2 to 3/4 full, several empty tables. Waitress checked on us once with no explanation as to why the food was taking so long. I will not return in the near future even though the burgers were great.

My boyfriend and I went in for lunch today (Tuesday) and we had an amazing experience! We were sat quickly, our server offered suggestions for bar beverages and she was patient with us while we decided on which burger we wanted! Our food arrived in a timely manner and everything was hot and tasted fresh! Our server engaged in conversation and checked on us regularly! We’ve had a couple bad experiences at the works before but today was NOT one of those. We will definitely be back!

Ordered from skip the dishes and got bacon on a beyond meat burger. Skip gave me a refund but when I tried to call the restaurant they didn't answer the phone. So disappointed because we would have rather had it replaced. Updated the restaurant contacted me and sent me a voucher for a free burger which definitely makes me feel better about the experience!

Even though we were a large group, we were given tables upon entry. The menu has a lot of options, including great vegetarian ones. The offerings are, of course, burgers, but that is what you'd expect from the name of the place. There is a parking complex nearby, and parking turned out to be free. It seems Waterloo has improved a lot between my two visits.

So I love the Works! they have a super fun atmosphere that is welcoming and open and super chill. They have tons of type of burgers including a really good veggie burger. But really the best thing is the poutine! The serving is huge and comes out in a bucket (Littarly) It is enough for 2 maybe 3 people! and its super cheap! I can't even with the poutine!!!!

We waited about an hour to get our food, my fries were cold, my friends broccoli was not steamed at all almost raw(they seemed to have run it under some hot water for a second then serve it), the onion rings were over-done, the burger patties were moderate, pretty overpriced for such a poor experience.

I've been to this location a few times, and the service never fails to be poor. Only once or twice was my server polite, encouraging me to continue going. However, the service is often slow, and the servers are focused on getting you out as fast as possible. As Kathy Nguyen stated, Kathleen L appears to care nothing for her customers. If you want to go to The Works, I suggest going to the other location, as I have hear much better things about it (if it is equally poor, I will update this in the future).

One of my favourite burger spots! It's a little pricy, but definitely worth it. The wide variety of burger flavours intrigues me to go back and try a different one each time. The sexy burger is probably my favourite one and the bottomless fries is a huge plus!

Best burger selection in town in an industrial hipster environment. Pretty pricey though. I adjusted this to get a 5-star rating because the last time I was there, I got placed by the speaker. I have some hearing processing issues and couldn't pick up the waiter. I suggested maybe moving tables, but he went to the back and turned the music down. Excellent service.

I have been to The Works in a couple different cities. This location lines up with their quality. It's a good burger with creative toppings and good apps and shakes. We went on a Thursday night and felt that their could have been a few more staff members on duty as we and a couple other tables waited a fair bit to get drinks/bills. This is not a complaint about our server who did great but it felt that she was spread a bit too thin with all the tables.

Huge burger selection, although better tasting meat can be found elsewhere in Waterloo. What sets it apart are the toppings, but the actual patty is nothing special. Milkshakes are phenomenal. Food often takes a very long time to arrive at your table.

Great burgers, with vegan and vegetarian options. I wish they had more veggie burgers available other than the beyond meat burger. They also put straws immediately in the drinks, so if you're bringing your own, remeber to ask not to have one put in your drink.

I went here with my boyfriend who is a burger fanatic and he loooooooooved it. There are a million different topping, burger patty and bun options so you won't have to worry about different dietary restrictions as they have everything from beef, turkey and veggie patty and million different toppings for those. My boyfriend had the taste from heaven and it really was heaven for him with the Kobe beef patty and I had the turkey burger but with tip and everything I had paid $50 for the both of us and even though it was amazing, I found $25 for a burger with fries is just a bit too much for me. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an amazing burger experience who isn't worried about price but if you care about price, there are definitely similar burgers for cheaper at other places

It was my first time here. It was a big birthday party celebration. Over 30 people. Service was slows and confusing. It took almost almost half an hour to waitress first come to our table. After one hour we have our drinks and could order our food. After sending the food we have to walk to RJ e counter every time and request for a waitress because they never came back to us. Their menu has everything would could imagine on burgers and everyone seems to have enjoyed their hamburgers, however, they didn't feel the same about the sides.

Service was slow. Sat quickly, server got our drink order and brought it back. Then we didn’t see him for another at our table for 15-20 minutes. Not because they were busy because they weren’t. Finally ordered and waited an extremely long time for warm not hot food. I think it had been sitting awhile while our waiter ignored us. (Bun was toasted but cold, cheese on burger was almost solid; not melted) Asked for cutlery and he bought some for only me and never even checked about the rest of my party, who Ultimately ate with their fingers because the waiter disappeared. Not a great experience. I love The Works normally. Extreme disappointed.

Servers did their best and were friendly, but the restaurant periodically seems to be understaffed, which really takes a dent into the quality of the overall timing and care the servers are able to provide.

Overall it was a great experience that had one hiccup. I picked out about half of the onion on my burger, which was cut so big it was inedible. My Kobe burger had great meat and was cooked perfectly, plus my girlfriend loved her bunless son of a beech. Thanks for being open during these times!

$18 for a burger is steep, and honestly my burger was nothing special. I got the cheesy one with a deep fried brie on top, and felt it was fine. I didn't like how greasy the bun got (literally drenched) and that my burger fell apart. Service was also not the fastest. There are better burger places for less $$$

Great experience in this place. Our server was excellent and very sweet, bubbly and attentive, she made our meal better! Burgers were great, very juicy! Poutine was fantastic! They serve drinks in Pyrex jugs which is a quirky touch, kinda fun. Overall great experience, huge range of yummy burgers and great staff! I heard them singing along to music and chatting happily as they worked, still while providing quick and friendly service to boot. Seems like a good place to work, nice atmosphere.

Slowest service ever !! Over 2 hours for lunch. Not going back ever. Details (timed on my iPhone): Arrived at 11:50am Friday Jan 13th. The place wasn't busy, approx. 25% full. Sat for 35 minutes before my order was taken. Took another 38 minutes before the food arrived. Food was good. Waited another 40 minutes still no bill. Went to cash register, informed them I had to leave for my 2pm meeting. Waited another 5 minutes while 2 waitresses struggled with the POS system. "War Pig" burger + fries + gravy + Coke cost me $19.56 + tax. Total visit time was 2 hours 3 minutes. Outrageous. Four waitresses working but in no hurry. No sign of a manager. (That of course was the root of the problem). Not going back. Ever.

Julie, the server who greeted us at the door seemed to have had an attitude. I knew what I wanted and ordered a burger to go. Went here on the weekend during my trip to Niagara and ordered the caramelized mushroom and onion burger with fries. I was so disappointed. It might have just been an off day but my burger was so bad I didn’t even bother finishing it. The meat was dry and flavourless (not an exaggeration, it literally tasted like nothing) and the burger and the fries were so cold that I had to ask the server to reheat it. The service was nice and so was the ambiance but I definitely will not come again.

Bad experience at Waterloo location. Arrived to pick up my phone order. Female Associate did not greet me for at least 3 mins. No plexi glass up, no mask. Did not disinfect debit machine after putting in my details to pay. Fries were not cooked, then realized the burger was burnt. Went back in restaurant to let her know. Felt like she did not believe me as she opened up my bag and had to look at burger right in front of me before telling me she would make another. How unprofessional! Delivery company arrived to pick up an order and hung all over the payment area set up. After he had kept his dirty bag on food pick up table, she then put my new food order, that was in paper bag, on that area that she did not clean. Really bad set up. Other Works locations Covid set ups are very well done compared to this. Food that was redone for me, burger was burnt again. I didn’t even waste my time going back in.

This is our second visit here. This place has a great selection of hamburgers, caters gluten free and vegetarian options. We had regular hamburgers with different toppings. I found my hamburger to be a bit dry and nothing too special about the fries. The ambiance and customer service are reasonable. I think, overall, it’s a great place to visit.

Simply ask the staff to customize a burger for you and they will ask about your preferences, afterwhich they will give you something according to your taste and they will not get it wrong!! The server (unfortunately I forgot the name as I was in a hurry) was the best I had met.

Kitchen was extremely slow and the service was lacking. No communication for nearly 40 minutes until 5 minutes until our food came out to apologise for the wait. When the food did come, my burger was overcooked (charred), the order was wrong, the fries were cold and nothing stood out as excellent not even my daughter's poutine where she ate the last half without gravy or curds. (how do you mess up a poutine?) They apologized atleast, and offered us a free appetizer... on our next visit. Sorry, but nothing short of a free meal for the family is bringing me back there.

I did notice there weren't a lot of staff during my visit but even with proper staffing I can't imagine I would have enjoyed myself all that much more. First my water, which comes in a measuring cup with a plastic straw, had leftover food on the inside. Best guess was it wasn't well cleaned after the last milkshake, but it was still served to me like that. On the outside of my serving tray what appeared to be a stuck piece of mushroom, since we had a salad and burger sans mushroom, also creepy. For a gourmet burger, mine was a let down. I got the Beyond Meat with a still chilly bun, and the burger tasted completely bland. I've tried a few Beyond Meat burgers and this one was the least impressive. Meanwhile the less said about the giant impossible to bite croutons in the Ceasar salad the better. Sadly the ambience fit the food pretty well. Faux brick wall and fake plastic decor, disturbing bathroom and seriously why did my mildly okay fries have to come in a plastic bowl? It's like whoever designed the "place settings" has never eaten at a table and were more interested in being cute. Measuring cups are awkward to hold, take up more space than a cup, and are apparently difficult to clean. Maybe if the food had been better I wouldn't be so critical about the restaurant's look but everywhere you look it's all mild flash over substance.

Went again last night with two friends. We sat out on the patio (which was quieter - I find the music a little loud for conversation here). I had a FREE burger because of my birthday. That is straight up awesome I tell you what. I got the Taste of Heaven, the most expensive burger here (unless that $420 burger is legit) and it was pretty good! We didn’t have to wait long either! DON’T GO HERE!!! There are so many places better than this place for a cheaper price. The burgers are awful. The buns were soggy and oily. The filling was so less, just a patty and two piece of toppings. Also, make sure they are giving you the bun you ordered as they gave me and my friends white bun instead of sesame bun and then we complained. They gave us new buns and it was way better. But still the Price is Overpriced, food is below average and less quantity.

We attended for a Birthday party. They allow you with 8 or more people to book their Boiler Room(no extra cost nice themed room). The bathrooms downstairs were not very nice. There were 9 of us and the waitstaff of 1 was kind of not great. She was friendly and happy. She didn't bring utensils and forgot a few drinks more then once. I had to go ask for a child's menu as there was one at the table and she clearly seen her but didn't bother with bringing her, her own menu. The food was ok. I tried a burger The down under( not good). Would I go back not on my accord.

Were sat promptly but took 30 minutes for a runny milkshake to appear, about 45 min for 3 burgers and the order wasn't correct. Didn't have time to complain so just took the order. Server never came back to make sure everything was ok. When we asked to pay right away (to get a tired and whining toddler out) were told another table had to pay first. Poor time management for a place that does burgers and fries as standard lunch fare. Won't be back.

Burger and fries were good but not great. It's filling and delicious but at $15-16 a burger I expected more. 1 pint of beer and two burgers came to $50. Burgers don't come with pickles, lettuce or tomato; you have to ask for that. The decor is cliched, intentionally grungy styled. The bathroom is intentionally designed to look old and rusty, water comes in measuring cups, salt and pepper inside of lightbulbs, salad is called weeds. I did appreciate the variety of burgers. We got Smoked BBQ and the Green Tom which were both good. Probably won't come back

STAY AWAY! Overpriced and not fresh! My girlfriend and I after a stressful day decided to grab a burger and oh boy what a regret. I had the Elk on the beech burger and it was dry, overly cooked and seemed like it was cooked in the morning rather than fresh for a price of $20! Beer was overpriced as-well. My girlfriend’s burger was equally awful and her onion rings were in my opinion the best of the whole food. The server was pleasant to deal with and well mannered.

Probably one of the worst burgers I've had in a long while. The meet was burnt on one side. The bun was cold. The onion ring inside the burger had been cooked in oil that is way past the time it needed to be changed. My gf had the fries and they were terrible too. Her chicken club came with the abomination that is fried chicken. The main reason we chose this glorified fast food restaurant was because it advertised craft beer. Turns out they only had Moosehead. The waitress were chirpy enough and service was good. It's really the food that's not up to standards. So overall that is 50$ for a very sad meal.

Love the Works burger. This spot had a very nice and cheerful waitress. I had the 6 degrees of killing bacon with a lettuce bun (keto) with a weed (salad) side. Leaves you very full even with a lettuce bun. Good option for keto people. Tips: Just be careful because it drips a bit lol. There is parking just down the road a bit for $10.

Food was great and the spicy level on the “Firestation #6” burger was perfect! The other burger pictured if their vegan option (mushroom burger on an everything bagel). Cool that the water comes in a measuring cup. Think the place could use some more lighting, it was pree dark lol, not a serious requirement but I was like “damn why so dim?”. It was our first time in the works at this location, and it was such an awful and terrible experience. The wait time was almost 45 minutes for four burgers and the place was almost empty. Then they said this is an ongoing issue from long time but they never told us that the wait line will be such terrible. The burgers were rather dry and tasteless and for the price you pay on this place I was expecting to be wowed. My wife was served an awful old looking celery, an old dressing had to be asked on a side because they don't offer it beforehand. Not sure why this place so famous and good rating but we will never repeat it for sure I rather have a&w 10,000 times The only compensation the manager offer was to toss some extra sauce into the burger.... I mean what the hell

I picked up burger for lunch, came back to work place and noticed they messed up my order. Burger was without buns! Called them, they refunded me and gave me another burger, it was good but kinda spoiled my lunch. I think it is overpriced not sure if I'll go there again

I just recieved an order from skip the dishes and am quite disappointed with the portion size of sweet potato fries. I have worked in the restaurant business for many years and understand how things operate within portioning. To be able to hold an order of fries in your hand that has a $2.50 up charge is unacceptable. This isn't the first time I've been disappointed from the food quality from this location. I previously ordered a wagu patty that was over cooked and burnt , and cold sweet potato fries as well. I like the food but I don't think I will be returning to this location anytime soon. Briefly, this is a creative electrical factory theme with good and fresh food but not amazing burger place. good place for trying Western hamburger. Every ingredients is perfect. But the flavor is not amazing. Higher price compared to its amazing and ingredients I think. Also the waiting time is so long, about half an hour. I really don’t like the waiting time. But the theme is interesting— everything shows like a 19th century factory style. The tray for holding the dish is industry steel style. Also there are some utility pole inside the restaurant. I think the utility pole is fake one.

The great thing about the works is that both locations are equally great the one in Kitchener and this one in Waterloo. You get the same great service the food quality is the same and it’s a really fun place to be especially when they open the garage doors and have a more open feel to the restaurant. I’m obsessed with this place.

I am sorry for posting this review but when after getting tasteless burger and going get pizza from pizzapizza down the street should say something… And about service… we ordered 2 burgers and a fries to share. After 30 min we get 1 burger and fries and empty plate. In several min we managed to get waiter attention and ask where the second one. He replied that we ordered just one or he misunderstand us. OK, we asked for second one. Everything would be fine if we get our order. Several times waiter did come up and say that order will be done ASAP. Well, after another 30 min of waiting, eating half of first burger, we just canceled the second one. We did pay for what we got and this was the first and last time we stepped to this so called restaurant.

( Wendy, Harvey's even McDonald's serve a better burger) I have eaten at many burger bistro/craft burger joints but this was the worst. Absolutely nothing that can truly differentiate there burger from a fast food joints. Not to mention it was the smallest burger for a craft burger joints, it lacked taste, variety and specialty. All the thing that make a joints like this stand out. To be blunt I have never had my kids pass on a burger, after a couple bits of this burger my kids left a literally full burger for the garbage. I will never eat at this joint again.. definitely in my bottom 3 of burger joint of ALL TIME!!!

We were visiting the Cambridge area for the week and drove to the restaurant for a visit on Sunday July 25th. The restaurant was short staffed so we had to wait about an hour and a half. So glad we did! The server was new ( can’t remember her name ), and she was very sweet and was trying so hard to provide excellent service. Brisket poutine, and burgers were excellent . Always good. A little pricey, but worth it for a treat! My son does backflips over the shakes, and if you can't find a burger that you love, then you are the pickiest person that ever lived. The "wrecking balls" ( cheese filled tater tots wrapped in bacon with house made hickory sticks and an amazing ranchy dip) are so good that I am salivating writing about them. Lots of fun, and always seasonal menus.

If you're looking for the best burger in town, this be it. The meat is off the charts, cooked to perfection (mine was just a little pink... made me happy). I honestly forget what toppings I had because I was so distracted by the meat. Had the chips and an amazing beer (cracked canoe). Just a perfect meal. Why 4-star? Pain almost $60 for two guys to eat out. Seems a little much for a beer and burger... made I'm old fashioned, but not something I can afford to do very often. But... man it was good. So yeah... Went in on a Monday night around 6pm. Found service to be friendly and polite but a bit on the slow side considering the place was half empty. The burgers we're absolutely outstanding and the side delicious. Definitely not a place for vegans or vegetarians. A wide variety of very tasty meat based burgers all given clever names. Hearty portions and reasonable drink options. That being said the prices were a bit on the high side for a burger place. $81 for 2 burgers with fries and 2 starters and 2 draft beers. With tip it was nearly a $100 dinner. Would definitely go again, once I find some disposable income or a special occasion to splurge.

Although their burgers are among the best in town, the service at this location was very poor. We waited longer than normal for our order to be taken. We waited almost an hour from the time we were seated until our food came (and it was only after we asked why it was taking so long did it finally come). To top it off, the fries and onion rings were cold once they finally got to our table. We had to ask for fresh ones. The kicker, is that the place was not BUSY!

First experience to the The Works last night, and it will not be my last! The entire experience was FANTASTIC! Our first step into the door, we were greeted by 2 servers who were pleasant and welcoming. Our server, Nathan P., provided very informative information having been our first visit, was patient while it took us quite awhile to decide, and was still on the ball with a full section of tables! Even when the kids in our party asked for his attention, with many other things to do, he gave them his attention and didn't seem to rush through their conversation. The food, was DELICIOUS!!! The atmosphere seemed original, and fun. Overall an absolutely wonderful experience!!!

We've been here 4 times in the past two months. 1st time my burger was red raw, so we received a handful of free burger coupons. Each time we've been back to use the coupons, we have waited 45 min to an hpur from ordering our burgers to receiving them. Our last experience was an hour wait, when I finally received my burger, which I ordered with no egg and on a gluten free bun, it came with an sunny side up egg broken all over the burger and on a regular bun- I am 9 months pregnant and cannot eat either of those things. I waited another 30 min for my burger to be replaced while my husband and 2 year old son finished their meals. The waitress was not only unapologetic, she barely acknowledged us at all. That's another thing about this place, if you want a refill or another drink, cutliary even...don't expect your waitress to ask you. You'll need to chase them down to get one. Now that our coupons are used, we will likely never return and definitely will not reccomend! Only thing good about this place is their variety in burger options and the attempts to be a gluten friendly establishment.

One of the worst experiences. We went in hoping to grab dinner, but the waiter had not come to see us for over 15 minutes. Out of politeness we stayed but decided to just grab a quick appetizer and leave. Our appetizer was brought over by a different waiter, was not what we had asked for (brought pita bread instead of mix of pita and nachos), and it was cold. We waited over 20 min again for the waiter to come over and check on us. We asked for some more pitas to finish off the appetizer and the bill. He brought over the bill right away and we ended up waiting for another 15 minutes for the extra pita. The worst part was that the place was not busy at all! The other waiter seemed to be moving around from the few tables that were there, cleaned other tables, and was constantly busy. Our waiter, Ryan, was very rude and unprofessional. He disappeared for most of the night, was very cold, and unwelcoming. We ordered one appetizer, spent about 10 minutes eating, and the rest of the hour waiting for Ryan to appear.

My boyfriend and I ordered 2 burgers, 2 orders of onion rings, and 2 chocolate shakes. We waited over 20 minutes for our food, after ordering for Delivery.... my onion rings were soggy, my burger was way over done. It also was missing the cheese! As I ordered a Juicy Lucy. And the chocolate shakes... meh... not chocolatey enough for us. I dont think we will be coming back to this place. It used to be great, but the staff dont seem friendly, or eager to work, and the food was not well made. It really is a shame.

Came here for lunch and something must be wrong because it took over 40 minutes for food to be delivered after ordering for simple lunch portion burgers. When delivered, missing condiments and had to another 5 minutes while condiments were being prepared. Come before and not experienced such slow service. We stopped in for a quick burger and beer for dinner but knew it was cutting it close with COVID regulations. The server said we couldn't sit in cause it was too close to the time which was fine we understood perfectly, but we asked if we could do a take away. After waiting for our takeaway order which was about $100 total we got home to find wilted, semi rotten lettuce wraps on burgers, one elk burger that was burnt and a brisket poutine that looked like fries, gravy and shaved beef on it. Disgusting, we won't be coming back. I'll also add the service in this place is pathetically slow, 10-15 mins waiting for a beer whilst you are waiting 20 mins for food is mental.

We ate double veggies patty burgers 2-3 times in past but today we order double veggies patty burgers and the girl give us a beyond patty burgers. Then we told the server that it’s not double veggies patty and they give us a extra beyond patty(extra charge). When we ask the server she said you need to specify that you want veggie patty not beyond patty. It’s not fair. Every time we ordered same thing and we got double veggies patty burgers. About the specifications, i think the server needs to do that.

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant and had a bad experience. When our meals came her burger was pink when she bit into it (it happens no big deal), so they were going to cook it fully. It came back and was still visibly pink after another two bites. Our waitress wasn't anywhere to be seen, and we kept having to get the attention of a helpful young guy who understood and said they would take it off our bill. She finally came with the bill (my girlfriend still not having had any real food to eat) when I had mentioned it to her she didn't even respond ignoring the comment and didn't say a thing about it and walked away. We were polite about it all and she was flat out rude.

I am fan of the works burger and I try it in different cities. The works at Waterloo was one of the best one I've ever been. Food was fresh and very delicious:) loved it. Tower o rings was fresh and crispy. Also, staff here were really freindly and service was excellent.

Came here in 2018 and got the Bacon You Fancy Huh? burger. Our table also shared 2 onion towers. I have no complaints about the food, although it's nothing super special. I still remember having to wait a while to get our food which was longer than acceptable to be honest. To be completely honest, I wouldn't go back since the prices were pretty high and the wait was just too long for my liking.

Food tasted fine, but I feel like I need a shower after leaving this place. My table was grimy and sticking, like a movie theater floor. My drink was served in a measuring cup that was obviously not clean. Just gross.. stay away

Ordered for pick up waited around 20 mins befor I left my house got to the restaurant where there was maybe 20 people dining in my order then took an additional 30 mins while I was there over heard waitresses saying they didnt want to clean there tables and another saying we all have to be responsible just not as responsible when the boss isnt here then got home and my girlfriends juice Lucy had no cheese in the burger very disappointed in all aspects of this place I use to work here when it first open and god has it ever turned into a dive driest burgers I've ever had should be ashamed and take time to re-evalute your staff

For the price I think there are far better options. BUrger was good but nothing truly to rave about. Would come back but normally not in the mood to spend $20 on a burger and fries.

Excellent burgers, but my favourite is the chicken burger. It is absolutely amazing. Tender juicy chicken breast they have battered with a spicy batter. Topped with cheese, bacon and their special sauce...fantastic! Service is always pretty good, and home delivery and takeout also rock!

Absolutely amazing. Food was delicious. Staff were so friendly and accommodating during COVID-19. My family and I had a wonderful Halloween night out. I highly recommend and will be back for sure.

I love this place. The servers are super nice and the environment has great vibes. Food is great as well. I would recommended trying their hotter than hell and sweet & tangy sauces.

Was VERY disappointed, had been a long time since I’ve eaten at restaurant. used to love going to the works, but now I’ll never go back. There was only one server and one cook in the kitchen, 5 full tables and numerous skip the dishes orders going out. My food was burnt and my broccoli I had tasted old. Ordered my burger on a “lettuce bun” and it came on a few leaves of salad. Only ate the burger because I haven’t eaten all day and was hungry, there was no point in complaining because we would have waited another 40 min for our food to be re-made, and did not want to stress the waiter out because he was the only one there. My boyfriend’s burger was also burnt and his fries had that old oil taste to it.

Terrible service. Food took over 45 minutes to be prepared and the place was NOT busy. During these 45 minutes I didn't see our server a single time, she didn't bother coming to our table to ask if we needed anything, drinks, refills, nothing. Then she brought the food, my wife's sandwich was missing what we thought was 2 toppings, bacon and onion jelly, but we had to ask another employee to call her because she never showed up. She took the sandwich back to the kitchen and quickly returned saying only the onion jelly was added, the bacon was not part of the toppings list. Then we checked the ingredients and it in fact it mentioned "Bacon Roasted Tomatoes", but between "Bacon" and "Roasted Tomatoes" there was a line break, so it was an honest mistake on our part. The problem is that she was all acting like were trying to get some freebies or trying to fool her or something like that, she was full of attitude. I really don't get it, maybe she was having a bad day, I am not sure, but if we treat you well we ask the same in return, regardless of how your day has been. You don't need to be jumping around pretending to be happy, but treat your customers well. 2 stars because the food was really good despite the inexplicable long wait.

Burger badly undercooked. Sent it back and it came back overcooked. Manager's reasoning "I guess they wanted to ensure it was cooked and they forgot about it and left it on a few minutes too long." First and last visit here.

The server was nice however the food wasn’t great- the fries were burnt and the burger had undercooked bacon (I felt sick all afternoon and only ate half!) The works use to be good, not sure if it was an off day or what happened but we more than likely won’t go back.

I don’t know what has happened to this place in the last few months. Visited for dinner on a Thursday and it was seriously understaffed - our waitress was clearly overburdened and was not attentive. Took over an hour to get our food and our fries/chips were cold and undercooked. Paid 70$ for two beers and two burgers that were good, but soaked in grease and not great. It’s too bad because it used to be a go-to spot for its gluten-free items and sensitivity to allergies, really disappointing.

I love coming to the works for celebrations it's delicious ! Note for birthdays they don't do any of the candles, but they do give you a free milkshake which was nice. The atmosphere is very nice and your water comes in a measuring cup which is kind of cute. You have many options for your burgers as well. I always do cheese stuffed and it's absolutely delicious !
