The food was well prepared and delicious. I was disappointed I couldn't have the lobster linguine in a non gluten format and consoled myself with a rack of lamb prepared just the way I requested.

We had a fantastic meal at The Black Spruce! I had Sweet Potato soup and a Caesar salad. Both delicious! Our friend had the Lobster Gnochi which we all tasted. Best I’ve ever eaten! I would go back any time and strongly recommend it.

(Translated) Very good restaurant located on the floor of a hotel, very nice view of one side of the room as of the other (the picture windows give on the coast and the mountains). Very nice and friendly service. Everything we ate there was delicious. The seafood is obviously local and very fresh. Their cocktail menu is varied and the ones we tasted were very very good, well dosed, generous, original. I highly recommend, especially in an area where there are few restaurants, it is a must! Remember to book, that said. (Original) Très bon restaurant situé à l'étage d'un hôtel, très belle vue d'un côté de la salle comme de l'autre (les baies vitrées donnent sur la côte et les montagnes). Service très agréable et sympathique. Tout ce que nous y avons mangé était délicieux. Les fruits de mer sont évidemment locaux et très frais. Leur carte de cocktails est variée et ceux que nous avons goûtés étaient très très bons, bien dosés, généreux, originaux. Je recommande vivement, surtout dans une zone où il y a peu de restaurants, c'est un incontournable ! Pensez à réserver, cela dit.

PHENOMENAL eating experience at The Black Spruce. The service was great and the food was off the charts. Even in typing this I begin to salivate as I rehash memories of curried mussels. The halibut was cooked to perfection and simply divine. My only disappointment was that the meal had to, eventually, come to an end. While the cost is not cheap, you will certainly get what you pay for - a joyous eating experience.

Very cute restaurant inside of a small inn. Great food in general. Outstanding food for the area. Had the market fish (halibut) and a Cesar salad which had an amazing avacado lime dressing. There's a very nice view from the windows - I wish they were larger.

We didn’t make reservations and simply showed up and did manage to get a set. I don’t know how busy it is normally. The restaurant is part of an inn and we didn’t realize that until arrival. It’s also on the second floor. I was told that it was a more “fine dining experience in an informal setting” and wasn’t surprised at all, by the service and the meal. The service is more refined/formal but we weren’t in out outdoor track pants/jeans. The service was not particularly warm but still polite and courteous. I would say the food was a little sub-par considering the expectations. Nothing was poorly done… the seafood was cooked perfectly; the salad was dressed appropriately etc but the flavours were somehow lacking. I was a little disappointed because I wasn’t wowed and for the price and the hype, I thought I would be. The meal was tasty but just didn’t give me that “wow factor” I was thinking it would.

Excellent meal. We had 2 young children with us, and the restaurant helped us customise a delicious pasta (that they loved so much we ordered a second plate). Mussels were outstanding! The lobster gnocchi was delicate and fresh.

Fine fining at it's best in Western Newfoundland! I've been visiting Gros Morne this week and was getting tired of pub grub. A woman on a local trail mentioned this place to me and it did not dissapoint. The view of Bonne Bay is spectacular.
