The thing I like best about this banh mi sandwich shop is that they heat up the bun in a speed oven. I’ve tried asking other shops to warm up their buns but they generally don’t. That’s why I give this shop a five star.

I used to live in the neighborhood before life became complicated. During certain periods of my research I found the need to grab what was ever close. I wanted to quickly be back home at work alongside my dear friend Kelloggs, and had no time to waste. Eventually I became sick of the options. Then I found this place. I'm going to be honest, this was the first and only Banh Mi I had tried at the time. I chose the shrimp and pork patty I believe. The workers could not have been friendlier. I hurried home to my study, and began to unravel my sandwich. By the first bite into the fresh and crispy bread I was transported into a country I had never been. Flavors I had never known. Some might call this a religious experience, but as a person who studies the metaphysical and paranormal I had other notions. Truly a spectacular restaurant. If you, like me, have never had Banh Mi, then it is my professional advice that you start here. Every other place I have tried since has yet to deliver such euphoria.

mmm. the bread and veggies are sooo crunchy, fresh, and refreshing. The tofu isn't weird meat imitation, just deliciously marinated. Salad roll with peanut sauce is also wonderful. Good thing they have a punch card so my sub habit earns me a bonus sub ;). the best bahn mi around.

Video Review on my youtube channel with HD footage: vancity food crew banh mi bar . Banh Mi Bar is in a convenient spot, only a block away from New Westminster skytrain. They sell vietnamese subs, a simple varied menu. I got the House Special combo with sub, drink, and jackfruit pudding. I didn't dig the pudding but they have other flavours. The sandwich was solid. Packed with ingredients, lots of veggies and meat. The bread was nice too, very airy and soft. I would return for a sub anytime.

Mostly come here for lunch. They're quick and friendly, perfect for take away. They have a few bar stools if you prefer to eat in. Very well priced with lots of different options to choose from. They have a few meal combinations with drinks as well. Every now and then they have some specials, like they'll toss in a dessert. Very tasty!

Easily the best Bahn mi I've had, they are friendly and are fast. I'd recommend this place to anyone. The Viet coffee is really good too especially if your a coffee drinker. The sugar cane juice is out of bounds which is probably why it sells out fast haha. All of the Bahn mi options are really good, if you're new to Bahn mi the house special or the lemon grass chicken are really good options to start.

The meatball sub is delicious. It's cheaper than Au Petit - my favourite place for Bahn Mi's. The meat there is slightly juicier I think. But the ingredients on the whole taste fresh and satisfying. They have iced teas now! The owners are friendly and adapting the business as it grows. I'll definitely be back to try the other subs and to see what else they offer in the future.

Perfect balance of crunch to juicy meats and fresh veggies. 2/5 for cleanliness and decor. the place isn't the cleanest. Lots of flies everywhere. Counted like 30 in the 5 minutes I waited for my food. Although their preparation surfaces and appliances looked clean. Overall 4/5 because that's how good the food is. Would come back again for the delicious banh mi as the risk of getting some flies with my food.

I've been to a few vietnamese places for banh mi. This one knocks it out of the park and leaves my gluttonous stomach and budget foodie tastebuds satisfied for under $7! With two orders of bahn mi ($11.50), I'm filled up more than an entire subway footlong and don't want to eat anything for a little while! The bread has a crunchy crust and soft inside texture that compliments the fillings... but doesn't seem to soak up the sauce. Luckily they don't use much sauce, just enough so the sandwich doesn't leave your mouth dry. You're 10x more likely to spill bread crust everywhere. I order the house special every time. It has generous cucumber, pickled daikon, carrot, cilantro, pate, and cold cuts, and mayo. It also has a bit of japapeno but they ask you in case you don't like it spicy. They are the most flavorful veggies I've had in bahn mi yet, and are sliced for even more fresh crunch! There's a little bit of savoury juice in there too... I'm not sure what it is, but it brings all the flavours together. The vietnamese coffee is subpar serving and flavour for $4.50, but the desserts are delicious. If you've had fruity tapioca coconut milk pudding at T&T, you know what I'm talking about. I recommend their taro; it has generously sized pieces of sweet taro in there and it is soft enough to eat with the pudding, but not mushy. The servers are good people! A sweet and hardworking young couple. They accept visa, they do catering, and they have a stamp card for a free sub after every 10... order two and you get two! I wonder if you can use that card when they cater too (lol). This time, I forgot my stamp card and they just asked how many stamps I had on that and gave me a new one with the old stamps added on! With the skytrain station close by, you'll find yourself filling those stamps no problem as a pedestrian. Highly recommend as the first place to try in New West if you like Vietnamese food.

Unbelievable that this place isn't lined up out the door. The food is amazing here and having been to Vietnam I can definitely say that the Banh Mi here is authentic. Both the owners are there each day and make each sub fresh for you. If you're not sure what Banh Mi is I urge you to give it a try. At $5 a sub it's a worthwhile venture from your usual local fare. Go support this labour of love from two awesome small business owners, you won't regret it!

Quaint place run by a super nice couple. They offer a vegan banh mi which is amazing. Ask them to put a line of Sriracha inside and some extra cilantro, you'll thank me later when you reach banh mi nirvana. Also, this place is very reasonable price-wise and has a sparkling clean restroom. The sandwich was so good, I got another to-go and "forced" myself to eat it before bed because it's just so good.

Absolute hidden gem of new west. They have great subs, homemade desserts and the absolute best huge house special noodle salad box. I’ve tried several items here. Not only that but customer service is unmatched, one time I went to pick up my order and pay using the POS system, the machine froze and while we were waiting for it to refresh the owner apologized at least 3 times and then gave me 2 free drinks with my order which wasn’t necessary at all. Price is unbelievable, I wish I found this place earlier.

Great quality Banh Mi. Bread is terrific, ingredients are fresh and tasty. The price is amazing - it costs far less than Subway but you're getting a much higher quality product. The super friendly staff also manage to turn the sandwiches out faster than the major fast food chains as well, even when there's a crowd. To me, the benchmark Banh Mi in Vancouver is Au Petit Cafe. While they may remain the king, Banh Mi Bar in New West is certainly batting in the same league for quality, is much faster, and there's nothing else like it locally. For this, it gets top marks.

Love this place! I was a faithful Tung Hing customer for over a decade (8yrs in Ontario, 3yrs in BC), it has taken me over a year (since Tung Hing closed) to find a decent facsimile, trying close to a dozen places...but I did! And this is it!! The buns are smaller but just as fresh and warm, the filings are generous and the prices are downright cheap for the excellent quality...mind you, I only get the vegetarian but if that's anything to go by, I'd say they're all great! It's a small family run operation, well worth going and supporting. I live in False Creek and travel by transit just for their banh mis!

Did not disappoint!! Crunchy, soft French bread with fresh and flavourful ingredients. The staff (maybe owners?) were great. The team behind the counter are great too. We ordered the house special and the chicken banh mi. The house special was our favourite of today’s choices. We also tried the iced coffee and found it a bit on the bitter side so it either needed more condensed milk or a less bitter bean needs to be brewed.

I went here for a quick grub before the movie. Banh Mi Bar was the perfect spot for cheap healthy lunch and I would never get sick of eating Banh Mi. I wasn't too sure whether to get a Banhmi itself or a combo and combo was the best decision I made! I had Chicken Banhmi Combo ($11 mango pudding included) and it was totally worth it. Banh Mi was slightly small than what I expected, but this Lemongrass Chicken Banhmi was packed with flavours. My baguette was fresh and crunchy. Meat had a mix of curry and lemongrass flavour it was tender as well. Iced coffee was delicious. I'm obsessed with Ca Phe Sua Da that it's one of my favourite summer drink. Mango Pudding was great. It tasted fruity and sweet. I better go back to try other Banh Mi sandwiches one day. Make sure you get loyalty card for a free sandwich. I recommend getting a takeout due to limited seats.

All you want in a banh mi; friendly, fast, cheap and tasty! Most of their options are between $5-6. Best part is the fresh baked buns, a necessity for good banh mi. Their vegetables don't have that strong a pickled taste that I prefer but I asked for extra and they happily obliged. They have some seating if you aren't getting takeout. Great place for affordable food.

Absolutely love the banh mis here. Bread is crispy on the outside (but not so hard as to hurt the gums) and soft on the inside. The sauce is not overpowering and is the right combination of mayo and other sauces. Our previous favourite banh mi place was Viet Sub downtown but this place is better.

Came here at around 1145 to pick up a house special sandwich for lunch. The bread was still warm and crunchy on the outside. The filling was well balanced and nicely seasoned. Staff were friendly and efficient. The store front itself is not impressive and the area is probably sketchy at night, but a nice place for a cheap and satisfying lunch on the go. Will definitely come by again in the future.

Amazing little hole in the wall for Banh Mi. Fast & friendly service. Delicious large sandwiches for a fair price. While there are a few seats to eat in, this is more of a take out place. The cold Vietnamese coffee is decent, with a nice balance of bitter & sweet.

This place has the most authetic and delicious banh my in the Greater Vancouver. Fresh ingredients, crispy baguette, and the fillings are very well-balanced. The couple owners are nice and sweet. They remember your name and your preferences after a couple of times you order. Even during busy time, you can get your meal pretty quickly and the quality is always consistent. I usually get the “house special” because it reminds me of the banh my I had as a kid in Vietnam, but other options on the menu are also tasty

Hands down the best banh mi I've had in the Lower Mainland (better than Ba-Le). The menu is simple and incredibly delicious!!! The bread and produce are fresh, and it's noticeable with every mouthwatering bite. The House Special is amazing but honestly, every one I've had did not dissapoint. I've taken many of my friends here and they all loved it! Great, fast and friendly service in the heart of downtown New West, a block away from the Skytrain station.

I highly recommend the vegan BBQ beef! Don't need to get meat for it to taste good. I really like it with a lil bit of Hoisin and Sriracha ????. I also tried the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk but it was a bit bitter for me. But overall, the food is great with the price you pay. Definitely going back again next week.

So this place is good neighbourhood banh mi joint. Great, sandwiches, great drinks, but the only drawback is the customer service. Usually I’ve been served by a guy in his 30’s and he’s great, perhaps the business owner. Today, I called ahead of time 4 times but no answer. Maybe the phone is wrong, I gave them all the benefit of the doubt. When I get in, it’s a younger guy, early 20’s, I try calling just to see it works, it does. He tells me that he’s too busy to pick up the phone and that he’s afraid that he’ll burn whatever is in the oven. That’s not a good enough excuse. You’re a business and you are obligated to pick up the phone so people like me don’t waste time, and if you can’t spend 3 mins talking to a customer, then there’s a bigger issue. Either get better at your job or hire another person to help ring in food and answer the phone. While I was waiting, someone else called and he didn’t even flinch. Guy needs more training.

A gem of sublime simplicity. It looks simple and not fancy but it is crumbly goodness. Lots of crumbs from the bread. Vastly better then subway but that's not saying much. Truly elegant design in a sandwich.

Strengths: Great flavours for the bang mi I ordered. They were very liberal with the pate and I loved it. The mango pudding was very tasty or so my wife and son informed me. I loved the Vietnamese ice coffee. Weakness: My wife was not a fan of the curry flavour on th chicken Bang mi.

Just found this place as it was closest to Queensborough area. Very friendly service and good prices. I had the Special , Chicken and Vegan one. They really go to town on the toppings! Lots of meat and veggies. Baguette is made fresh. Took it home and after 20 mins it was still crispy! So glad to found this place near my home. :)

Our go to Vietnamese sandwich in the neighbourhood. Great flavours, crispy, soft bread. More expensive than other Vietnamese sandwiches places we go to in Vancouver but it's close and local. The owners are super nice. Don't forget to ask for a stamp card.

I'm just now tucking into the fresh and spicy vegan sub from Banh Mi Bar, and it's making my lips burn and my heart sing! My wife and I are absolutely addicted to this spot, where we can both eat for under a tenner. I can't understand why they aren't lined up out the door at all hours, honestly. It's run by an exceptionally friendly couple who are committed to great and cheerful service. The subs are made with baguettes that are perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft inside, the pickles/veg is super sprightly and has a great texture, and all the proteins they use are beautifully seasoned. I can't say enough good stuff about them, but don't miss out!

Stopped in spontaneously for a quick sandwich. The Tofu Bahn Mi was delicious, and made to order! Only $5 tax included! Very fresh fillings, and the bun was also fresh and toasty. The individual working was very kind, offering a cup of water when I declined to order a beverage. Uncommon for a takeaway/quick place like this! Made recommendations on which table sauce would taste best! A very excellent little Vietnamese sub shop!
