Move over Keg. Medium Rare has you beat. They follow a similar process as it was a keg.. But the bread is better. My steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. And the gentleman serving us tonight was hands down one of the best waiters I've had in years. Wish I took a few food pics..but we ate it too fast Tuna stack A+ Bread A+ ny steak A+ Chocolate sundae A+ Thanks everyone!

Service was slower than normal. The drinks took 15 minutes and only a couple of us. Steak wasn't edible but luckily they knocked a few bones off the bill. I wasn't happy so once the manager finished his smoke he knocked the rest of my bill down. Excellent guy and great times

1st visit last night and we were impressed. Food was delicious. Service was great and lots of space to keep us separated from other customers. Good Covid protocols. We aren't going out often these days but Medium Rare will be on our list. Thanks for a great experience ????

So disappointed with our meal! We went to celebrate a birthday and it was unanimous that everyone would never return….the blue cheese wedge salad was probably the only item that had flavour - although one salad came with no blue cheese! The escargot were frozen and had no flavour in the butter. When the mains arrived we all had hope but the garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic flavour, steaks were bland and the they had included two pieces or red and green pepper that were warm - not even a grill mark. When we complained about the quality of food, the cost and utter lack of flavour we were told the kitchen doesn’t actually use fresh ingredients like garlic?! The server was great but for the cost the food is beyond dismal - save your money and buy a nice steak and cook it yourself!

It was an awesome experience and their burgers are thick. My best friend and I head here when we can. We thought the portions were perfect for us and we will return again on our next night out. Service was great and tonight I am taking my girl there. Let's hope she enjoys it too.

I have to say that this was one of the worst experiences I have had… the two servers seemed to be nice but were very slow, but that wasn’t the problem. Medium rare steakhouse does not know what “rare” or, ironically, what “medium rare” is. The tomahawk steaks that came were not only unappealing looking (even the sides were unattractive and badly cooked!), they were both so undercooked that you could still hear the faint sound of the cow mooing. They charge fine dining prices but the servers admitted that they weren’t fine dining. The owner needs to have at least one red seal chef on staff if they are going to continue charging their prices. The appetizers were also not done well. Will not go back.

Our first time at Medium Rare Restaurant. We had an appetizer special, burger and steak. Menu has chicken, ribs, steak and seafood, including a varied selection of appetizers and a few desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth. Service was excellent. Food was so delicious. Restaurant was very quiet for a Friday night. All protocols were being followed. Tough times right now. Let's support local by ordering take out if you're not comfortable eating in right now.

We went with 5 of us and had 5 different items. The service was great. Along with the service the food and drinks fulfilled our wishes. The steaks were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. 3 others ordered different dishes and they spoke just as highly of them. I'm sure any item you choose on the menu would satisfy you.

To many staff for not nearly enough customers in the restaurant, when I got my $32 pasta dish the vegetables were still raw. You could tell by the was the sauce congealed to the noodles that it had sat under the heat lamps waiting for the other food in the order.

Cringey sycophantic server did not make up for food that seemed mostly or entirely microwaved. Stone cold presumably (not) reheated mashed potatoes (which replaced the baked potato I ordered -- how does a steak house run out of potatoes?) were recompensed with a $2.90 discount on a $90 tab. Server disappeared mysteriously once entrees landed. We had to stand up to draw attention to our desire to leave. Maybe an off night. I hope so but no second chances from us.

6 of us went for a birthday celebration and we had everything from a tough overcooked prime rib patty that was tough, to the wrong steak to one person twice. I had a perfectly medium rare rare as I asked for, the person beside me wanted med rare, and I would say 1/2 was rare. Appetizers were great and the deserts were awesome. The service was tops and he tried to satisfy us all. We really need this steak house so come on guys build back your clientele There is no other great steak house here except one on the south side that is still in the 40’s as far as decor.

This restaurant tries way too hard. Absolute disappointment. Over an hour and a half wait for food. Menu is rediculously overpriced. Food was sub-mediocre. I have no problem paying $100+ for a meal at an upscale restaurant, when the service and quality is on point. This is the exact opposite experience. I would have rather dined at Wendy's. I would have had a far superior experience. Do not waste your time, or money at this establishment. The only redeeming quality that got this place two stars from me is the friendly server we had. It must be difficult to work here when you know you are over charging and under delivering to diners. That's a tough situation to be in, because often times it's the server that gets the short end of the stick and ends up taking flak from dissatisfied customers. I appreciate the guy trying his best and doing his job well. That said, this place needs help, Or perhaps they need to just simply close down and stop trying to be something they are not.

Small servings, Lack luster ambience (Interior looked like it was from the late 90's early 2000's), Decent service , food tasted alright MAJOR ISSUE VALUE. $45 for a "14 oz ribeye" that was less then a 1/2 inch thick... I eat alot of steak, cut my own steaks, and weigh all my protiens. At best it was a 8-10 oz steak. My friends steak was cooked to "medium" was well done, and somehow a fillet was hard to chew. We both agreed potatoes were good, and bread is portions reheated if that's to your liking. HIGHLIGHT : The Ceasars and in-house pickled asparagus. Advice: If you wanna charge such a high premium, provide a premium experience, proper portion sizes, correctly prepared, menus that aren't plastic, update your interio.

Went in just after 5pm so empty-ish restaurant, the server was very attentive. Very friendly. Ordered the seafood chicken with rice pilaf, was all tasty and cooked well. Well, the rice not so much, it wasn't that great, kinda bland. But overall pretty good. Would go back.

Went on Dec 10th for steak with friends. Two stars for Good service but the New York steaks we had were terrible, I am surprised they served such poor quality meat. They were literally 75% fat and gristle. I tried caraving through it but there was so little meat I gave up. My friends New york steak was almost equally as bad. We told the server and showed her the steak, thier reply was that I should have told them earlier and could have made another one. Given the meat was worse than MacDonalds, it probably would not have mattered. They eventually said they would cover the cost of a glass of wine ($15.00 ) for $45. steaks. Not impressed.

Our server was fantastic! Adam you rock. But the food was terrible. The scallops nanaimo was just weird and on the burnt side. The chicken burger my gf orderd came with things she asked it not to. And was bairly warm. The tomahawk was mostly bone and fat pretty disappointing. And my chicken and sea food was cold. The chicken was like leather and sea food on top cold and I could of bounced it off the floor.very bad birthday dinner. But again Adam was fantastic and I felt bad for him. He was the champ of the night

For a 300 dollar dinner for 4. There should not be old lipstick on your glass of water, noticed after drinking half the glass. Also ordered no red onion on salad and got it with red onion, picked it all off and not a word when she came and grabbed plate but waitress was new and already dropped a belini.

The old Keg. Re-named, but everything seems unchanged. Which is a good thing. From the pictures in the wall, to the slightly higher than average Nanaimo pricing, to the very professional staff service. The food is great. Starting with a time honoured complimentary bread loaf with butter. I ordered steak which was cooked perfectly. Everyone's meals came out promptly, and also all looked great. With generous servings you might not fit dessert. Which isn't all bad, since I found the two desserts I tried very tasty but nothing I could find at a lesser restaurant. I wanted to give 5 stars, but because of technical difficulties I couldn't use a gift card. Not a big problem, as I plan to come back again. Just a downer way to end the meal. It would have been nice to get comp'ed a drink or something for our troubles....

We went for date night...my husband had a steak with seafood in hollandaise sauce....the worst sauce I have ever tasted. International package sauce would have been better. They are charging Keg prices but no delivery on quality. Unfortunately we will not go back...there was probably 8 people in the restaurant....if this is the bar they go by..they will not last.

We weren’t impressed at first as we felt ignored. I finally got up and told our lovely host that we still had not been served on yet and were thirsty. He went above and beyond and gave us an amazing experience! I wish I could remember his name. He is the reason we will be back! The crab was delicious as was the Cajun pasta.

After trying more than a few restaurants in town bearing in mind the covid atmosphere we finished up going to the Medium Rare for an evening meal. Nothing but good to say about the whole evening. Our experience was great and all four of us had a fantastic time. The meal was great the service was great and we will definitely be going back. Adam, our server, was very attentive and made the whole evening. We will be returning....thank you for an enjoyable evening.

For a comparative price for a meal at The Keg, this was pretty ordinary. Everything was cooked the way we asked, just not banging like it was a year ago. Sauce was minimal and appies were just tons of butter and garlic, nothing special. Would rather get a meal for half the cost elsewhere or stay home and make our own.
