Pretty good New York style pizza, the owner is really nice. I went on a Saturday night it was super busy, I suppose it was from the nightlife. Only bad thing was this lady with glasses that was working at the front was super rude and was yelling at this nice guy.

We stopped for the night in Nanaimo and ordered a pizza for our hotel room. They said it would be 45 minutes. Pretty standard. It came piping hot in 15 minutes and was simply delicious. Lots of fresh topping and a great homemade crust! The prices you see include taxes and delivery. So what you see is what you pay!

Mambo Pizza is a Nanaimo treasure! I love the crust and the great flavours. Service is so polite and accomodating, and delivery pizza is just as good as dining in. A tiny bit more expensive than franchise pizza but well worth it.

I suspect some of the reviews are fake, written by the owner himself... MAMBOS SUCKS. I had been coming in every other day for the last few weeks...it's very close to my work, not like it's great pizza. I tried a different kind today...and thought it was TOTALLY disgusting. I asked them for another and they refused, and charged me full price for another. Terrible customer service. I will NEVER return here after the way I've been treated today.

Delicious pizza. Loved the fact that you could order a pizza with 2 x half of different pizzas. Had half of jalapeno popper pizza and the mambo special pizza. They were both really good, but that jalapeno popper pizza really hit the spot! That cream cheese and jalapeno combined on the pizza was so delicious. Ordered through their online website and we saved 10%. The girl running the till was nice and helpful. Definitely recommends this place for some good pizza.

I agree that it is magnificent pizza and next time I will try the gluten free instead of just eating the toppings. They have a 12" gluten free option! Right downtown in Nanaimo and walking distance to the Gabe ferry. Very good and you can buy by the piece! Stopped for pizza on the way through town and Mambo hit the spot.

Pizza is delicious, love the Jalapeño Popper. Did a pick-up order and the problem was from the customer service. I felt the lady at the cash and the pizza artisan had an extreme amount of attitude. I was there to give them BUSINESS, not to be talked down to by someone I didn't even know. This is my first almost negative review of a business, I don't like that it is about a place who has a good product.

Driving down island from Campbell River to Victoria, Mambo Pizza was a godsend for a food break, particularly for my fiancée who has gluten/dairy sensitivities and Mambo covered all the bases. Fairly priced AND extremely delicious. Highly recommended.

If you want great pizza to feed everyone and your not in a rush, Mambos is the place to go. The biggest one that they have is easily enough for 4 adults. Thank you awesome pizza people, stay above the competition. EDIT: Google wants an update. I still ONLY order from Mambos when I want Pizza. I use their website, I phone them, I get it in me. I love making huge custom pizzas that are always over budget but worth every penny? I guess a Con would be that having a predictable breakfast and lunch the next day can be tedious. :-)

Best Gluten free pizza I have ever had, hands down. It took 45 minutes to get but because it was fresh made for us. Worth every second of the wait!! Best pizza I have Ever had! I have to say every time i get pizza from Mambos it has never disappointed me. When you bite into your slice your taste buds are overrun with a melody of different flavors but one thing that always stands out is how fricken delicious the dough and crust is... Seriously they could get away with selling plain Slices with nothing but the dough and it still be in the top 5 pizzas you will have ever had. I 10 out of 10 Recommend you add going to Mambos to your bucket list. you have not had pizza till you have had mambos pizza.

There super fast and its awesome being able to do half and half or even quarters for no charge so you can try different tastes and pizzas all in one. and there even open late on Friday, & Saturdays for the after bar rush and sell single slices. Best pizza on the Island. I've been eating there for more than a decade, and they've been consistently *loaded* with toppings and beautifully done homemade crusts. They have several wonderful veggie options and are happy to substitute, even extensively. And the icing on the cake is that at 18", their large pizzas are often bigger than other places' extra-large ones.

One of the best pizza places we have ever tried. We have a bunch of pizza places in vancouver but this one hits the spot for us. We love how we can split the pizza into 4 different flavours. Prices are reasonable as the staff and quality is superb. Also their sweet garlic sauce is to die for, always need to order 6 or more for every pizza we get. If you’re in town, definitely try this place out!

Lots of food. The pizza itself was tasty, good amount of quality toppings and well put together. I was also impressed with their customer service as i have a nut allergy so pesto can be problematic. I ordered online and they send me a custom message after confirming their pesto has no nuts. Great extra effort. ????

Ordered from Mambo on the evening of 17th this month and was very disappointed. I live near Piper's Lagoon and the pizza took 1.5 hours to arrive. I was told that it would take 45 minutes and when I called after 50 minutes I was told that the pizza was on it's way and it still took another 40 minutes to get to mine. I asked the delivery person if he had gotten lost at all and he said no, he is familiar with the area. Pizza was pretty average to me. Next time I will save my money and my time and just get Panago.

Thank you Mambo!! What a day, traveled to Nanaimo a day before an early morning exam. Missed the ferry because it was full. Checked into the hotel and opened the books for some study time and ordered a pizza (1st time from Mambo). a Crazy amount of noise erupted from the hallway because 3 youth sports teams just checked into my floor... great. The hotel was great to relocate me but on my way down to the front desk, the pizza arrive and called me but no reception in the elevator so i missed him. Mambo made a fresh pie and delivered it later, no charge. Wow. Thanks for turning my night around... and it tastes awesome! i'll be ordering again in a few months when i'm back in town.

This was the first pizza I have ever ordered in Nanaimo. I have no reason to look elsewhere. It's Friday night. You get paid. Spend the extra $5 and order from these guys. You deserve it. The 18" will keep you fed all weekend and they give you value for your money. The pie is like 4 lbs easy, and is impressive. I don't even think they offer extra cheese, because this beast was covered. It was ready within 15 min, and even had a great logo on the box. This is one of the "you get what you pay for" places and from what I have heard has been around for a long time. If you are into a serious pie like I was, come here first.

My family and I have ordered pizza from here twice. The last time we ordered it was over 2 hours late. When I called in to see where my order was, the said “ I’m so sorry it didn’t make it to the kitchen, we will get it in and to you very soon. Won’t be long” Upon delivery the delivery driver gave me attitude and said the instructions didn’t say back door, however I noticed it said so right on the receipt. No discount, no apologies. The first time we ordered the pizza was 45 minutes late( each time qoute one hour ) The pizza was very good, however I feel like customer service is lacking.

This restaurant is truly wonderful in every way. If you decide to eat in you will find that the place is very comfortable, clean and well kept. The huge windows allow you to enjoy your pizza while people-watching the ever-changing streetscape of Victoria Crescent, featuring some of the most "interesting" folks around! The pizza is really great in every way. Not only is Mambo one of the few places on the Island which has an 18" pizza (making the common 14" look like a personal-size pie) but the crust is truly delectable. Somehow, the pizza masters at Mambo are able to obtain a deep pan crust consistency and crunch from a flat pan. I have no idea how they manage to do it but it's totally amazing.

Awesome pizza and awesome service! I've always loved mambo pizza and even recently when I have cut dairy out of my life they have still rocked their pizzas with dairy free cheese! Tonight I picked up a beautiful gooey "cheesy" pizza and unfortunately there was a mistake with my order. When I called to let them know about it the woman I spoke to was so polite and accommodating and didn't skip a beat offering to send another to my house right away! We are all human and make mistakes, and it just made my night that they handled it with such great friendly service. I've ordered here a dozen times now. 99% accurate and 100% phenomenal tasting pizza. Dough isn't too thick or to thin. Generous amount of toppings. 18inch for the pizza fanatics that cost about as much as others 15inch larges. Crew is amazing and fast, it's like the staff actually want to be there, probably due to great ownership. They also have a large selection and some unique flavors. Jalapeno Popper pizza is my personal favorite. Only suggest moving into a nicer location and franchising. I would franchise one of these for sure.

Still tasted good but BOTH orders had (in each large pizza) a long, human hair firmly embedded in the crust!!! Beyond gross.???????? The first time, we phoned back, they apologized and brought a replacement pizza and we chalked it up to a one time issue. But this second time, unacceptable! This should not have happened again. ???? Obviously, someone is working there and not taking necessary steps to keep their hair out of the food. Too bad, but hygiene has to be taken seriously when it comes to any food preparation. And very hard to enjoy any meal when something like this happens, especially twice in such a short period of time. XXXXXXX PS...In reply to the owners comments about hairs in pizza, we DID offer to return the first pizza but driver who came back with replacement pizza the first time said to, " keep it, they don't want it back" . I even kept the contaminated pizza slice in the fridge for a couple of days after that, in case someone called and still wanted to check this out personally. No one from your restaurant called so I eventually threw it out. Once should have been more than enough to realize that this was a serious hygiene issue that needed to be addressed. Not our problem, yours! It was sickening enough to bite into a hair the first time. The second time, I was just disgusted and didn't want to bother with a replacement or further discussions. We were loyal customers and never expected something like this to happen but it did, twice. I don't remember ever having something like this happen, at any other restaurant, anywhere. In that regard, we've been lucky. This should be a learning experience for you. Don't try to turn it around that somehow this is something we should have handled better. You've got a lot of nerve even implying this. ......................... My previous 5 star review from a couple of years ago EXCELLENT pizza and the 18 inch is huge!!! Mambo is hands-down the best pizza in Nanaimo - second in my books only to John's of Bleecker Street Pizza in NYC (and I consider myself to be something of a pizza connoisseur). Papa John's is always good quality - their sauce in particular rocks - but overall it doesn't come close to "The Big M." Might I recommend their Hangover pizza with a few brews? Big joy. PS - Anyone who says Mambo is pricey is better served getting one of those cardboard Ziggy's pizzas out of Superstore. That's more their speed. Mambo ain't cheap, but it's not terribly expensive either. And the cheese is 100% real. And the ingredients are top-flight. Want cheap? Go Ziggy's or Dr O. Want awesome? Go Mambo.

And no, it's not a covid protocol, rather you are using covid as an exuse to ask that question. Just makes me mad. No one else does that. Update April 2020: They still do this, ask for a tip. Again, NO ONE does this! STOP IT! Studies have shown that COVID spreads 99% by air, NOT through surface contact. So just give the terminal to customers and they will decide whether to tip. Love the pizza, especially the crust, but really wish they offered some plant based meats. My partner is a vegetarian and the vegetarian pizzas could be better in flavour combinations. So we always get the same or similar custom 3 topping pizza and we're both feeling pretty meh about it by now. The veggie combinations on the menu arent that inspired either. I don't want to have to order from Panago when I really want Mambo's pizza! Ive started to recreate some topping combinations offered at The Joint in Victoria because their veggie pizzas tends to be fantastic, when ordering now. They try some creative things because the world doesn't need another lame "Mediterranean" or a "Greek" pizza. Not that Mambo's offering is necessarily limited to that. The Pesto Popeye is probably Mambo's best here but I really think it's take time for a partnership with a producer to get some plant-based meaty goodness and more flavour on those pizzas. Very Good Butchers perhaps? Also Beyond's italian sausage works great. I use it all the time when making pizza at home. I'd happily pay a little extra for that. Edit: thanks for the response, however I did contact your business directly a good year ago by now about your vegetarian pizza offerings through your feedback form on your website. I never heard back and that's fine. You definitely don't have to be a vegan restaurant to make great vegetarian pizza. The Joint is a great example of this (at least it used to be, last I had it) as is Pizza Garden in Van and many others. The 3-star review was not an act of vengeance but how we perceive your vegetarian pizzas, which are on your menu, therefore yours to improve. I didn't make them up. 90% of what I order from you is vegetarian so my review is based on that. We still order pizza regularly from you and your delivery drivers still get a minimum 20% tip from me. So letting me know of what you're working on and how you're planning to expand your offerings are all great things, defensive responses to loyal customers not so much.

If there is any one reason the I go to downtown Nanaimo it's Mambo's. They are my benchmark for pizza, and very rarely do any other pizza joints surpass Mambo's. Definitely one of, if not the best, pizza place in Nanaimo. Locally owned and operated and I’ve seen them cutting up fresh vegetables and cooking their own bacon etc. in house. Their prices online including tax and delivery and are surprisingly affordable for such good quality pizza. I love that you can get four different kinds of toppings on their extra large pizzas or go in store and buy them by the slice. I highly recommend them, you wouldn’t disappointed.

The pizza is always excellent! You can't get a better slice absolutely anywhere in Nanaimo. The staff is friendly and the toppings are fresh. I have even fallen in love with their gluten free version! As a non-celiac and someone who thinks most gluten free products are flakey and bland, even I, think the crust and cheese are absolutely yummy!

Hands down best pizza in the area. Banana popper is my favourite and unique to Mambo's. For how popular they are it's amazing that they manage to keep very reasonable prices and wait times. I don't bother getting pizza anywhere else anymore.

Placed order and paid online before 9pm, estimated arrival time an hour later. Two hours later, no pizza, no call, and no way to contact them since they close at 10. Edit in response: No one/nothing enjoyed it because it ended up in the green bin after being left outside overnight by a delivery person who ignored delivery instructions, left it in a weird location, and made no attempt at contacting me when they arrived. This was the fourth time delivery instructions (leave by the mailbox and call or text when it's dropped) were ignored by Mambos drivers. I never left a negative review in the past because at least they managed to get it to me after disturbing the other unit. Unfortunately it doesn't really matter how good the pizza is when the delivery service is so terrible.

Mambo's is absolutely fantastic, and is deservedly the best pizza in town. I also really like that if you live close enough that they don't even charge a delivery fee! This isn't to say they're issue-free. Twice in a row when online ordering that they have forgotten the dips with the order. They have thankfully rectified this on both occasions. The first time they sent a driver by, the second they didn't do anything immediate, but did say that I could get one on my next order which they have fulfilled. One should also be prepared for extensive wait times, upwards of 2 hours. It is difficult to contact them should it take longer than expected or for any other issue, they usually aren't taking calls in my experience.

We ordered from Mambo Gourmet Pizza when we stayed at Coast Bastion for my friend 's dance recital. Can we say delicious! We ordered the Cook's Special (peperoni, mushrooms, mozzarella and bacon) and it was sooo good! There was so much bacon, like actual big pieces of bacon all over and the crust was amazing! We found the prices fair and well worth it. We will definitely order again!
