First time at Big Wheel burger and I was initially pretty excited. I ordered a poutine and the watery gravy sunk to the bottom of the dish and then they stuffed super cold cheese curds on my barely hot fries. Very disappointing

Their burgers are amazing, but I wish they had dairy free shakes. Their fries and ketchup are gluten free and delicious though! And their covid practices are awesome. I feel really safe when I’m there :)

Not super excited about the experience. I let my kids have a soda only because it was listed in the combo, then paid $1.50 more per soda because only juice boxes are included in the combo??? So $3 extra for something I would have said no to if it wasn’t on the menu already. I mentioned it four times but the staff wouldn’t acknowledge a discrepancy so it was just annoying.

First time here, so I ordered the $10 deal. Fries were delicious! Nice crispy outside, just enough salt. Was a little disappointed only processed cheese was used. Burger was alright, patty a little bland, but 2nd bite with the sauce was pretty tasty. Next time I'll have to try the chicken burger.

Big messy burgers. So if that's what you're looking for then I would recommend. I wouldn't call this a 'gourmet burger' it's more of a huge portion, homemade/diner style, pretty good burger. Their fries are pretty good too. I reduced my star rating but only because they are a bit too expensive coming in at just under $30 for two burgers (no sides or drinks, just the burgers). They auto add gratuity on to your bill as well. They are still good burgers but we only eat there occasionally when we're really craving a good burger :)

Had burgers in Victoria and Nanaimo, very bland. Fries were ok but they are charging premium price for average food. Ok I respect the environmental thing they are doing and would go there for that, but to automatically charge me a gratuity. No that's ridiculous. Never going back

Burgers are good and leave a nice taste in your mouth. But the price leaves a bad after taste. Either scale up the burgers or scale down the burger price and my 2 star would be a 5 star. Fries are great with options - poutine on point - all dressed fries on point - reg fries on point Ice cream sandwich are darn good too. Milkshakes are average

Sorry but that was the worst burger I ever had. I was first in line last Wednesday and when I got home looking forward to what everyone was taking about I found my burger over cooked and burnt. Never going back again . I do not recommend these over priced over done burgers.

I used to work here. Yes it's more than McDonald's, yes they charge automatic gratuity, but it's good. Fresh ground beef every morning, bold flavor, generous size. I still miss the big crunch a year later. Wish I could get some right now.

This is hard to say but I feel that I have had better burger meals for the value of $20. I saw there was a $10 value deal which is a good deal but it doesn’t work for me as a vegetarian since it cannot be applied to a veggie burger. It was good that the fries were not full of heavy oil. I got the Nashville Hawt Chickpea burger in the photo. It was very limited for me.

Here's the long and short of it: It's not bad, but it lacks value. The burgers are good. Not five guys, red robins or similar fare good, but better than McDonald's good. I agree with some other reviewers, the taste can come off as bland but I believe they're attempting to let the meat shine through. I'd take a different approach, but it's not my burger. The Cajun fries are good. Not $5 good. The fries are on the crispier side, of you like that. If the portion size was another 75% bigger then I could recommend it wholeheartedly. As it stands, I feel like I paid over double what I received. It leaves me disappointing. I don't mind the automatic gratuity, but I do wish they simply included it in the price, rather than made mention of it and tagged it on. Problem is, it would likely price out of the market. I've eaten here 4-5 times since it opened. It's good, but not good enough that I'd go out of my way to get it. When two burgers, pickles and fries comes out to $30+, it needs to be knock it out of the park, I'll drive here for dinner kind of good. As it stands... It's ok.

I was on my way to the ferry and looking for some food, and had heard good things about Big Wheel in Victoria, and was happy to see a new location in Nanaimo, so I decided to stop in. I was running tight on time, so I called in an order (cheeseburger, Cajun fries, and a root beer). I let them know I’d be there in 30mins and they said it would be ready when I arrived. In the time of COVID, things look very different at restaurants. When I arrived, there was 6-7 people waiting for their food, which is already a good sign. I walked up to the kiosk setup in the door, told them my name, and my order was just getting packaged up. The girl who helped me pay (I’m sorry, I didn’t catch her name) was very friendly. I was greeted by Brian, the manager/owner, who handed me my food. It was great to see someone higher up who cares about their business/customers. We had a quick chat about the new location, and I was off to catch the ferry. The food was great. Cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, super juicy, lots of fresh toppings, and tasted homemade. Basically, exactly what you want in a burger. The Cajun fries were a nice change, and a tad bit spicy for me. I’ll get them again since they were very good, just ask for a bit less seasoning. Great experience at this new location, I’ll be back for sure next time I’m on the island. Highly recommended!

What is there to be said about a Big Wheel Burger? Maybe that it seems over priced? Maybe that it tastes suspiciously like a Big Mac? Maybe you would even say that it looks a little sad coming out of the packaging due to it being crushed down by two other burgers in the bag during their venture home? Well, let me tell you this about a Big Wheel Burger. At $8 it blows any burger in that price range off the grill. It makes a Big Mac taste like squirrel burger shot through a cannon at a pile of hay. And even if your burger had to endure the weight of it's fellow compatriots at the bottom of the bag, that cornbread bun will stand up to the test. All-in-all, make the journey to Big Wheel Burger if you are safely able to. You will not regret it. It's better than any cheaper fast-food burger and a better bang for your buck than a pub or steakhouse burger. Solid stuff Big Wheel. Solid stuff. Graydon

Dont get me wrong it's really good but you will need a second mortgage on your house and a third job if you plan to eat here more than twice a month. I can get a better burger and two sides at the Crow and Gate for $13.

4/5 times I go here they put cheese on my burger when I specifically order it without. With the app, in person it doesn't matter. Pretty tired of paying for food that I have to either have remade or throw out if I don't have time to go back or wait for new food. Food is good on the odd occasion it's made correctly but I'm done wasting my time and money

Purchased the kids cheeseburger meal 12$ and an adult "lettuce wrapped" 15$ burger for myself. I was SUPER DISAPPOINTED, no BIG WHEEL here it was a super thin small burger patty, tasted like a McDonald's burger and they slapped my patty on ONE leaf of romaine!! It was awful, my daughters burger was much the same, bun was stale did NOT taste good, the only saving grace was the fries for her! Its expensive and in my opinion not worth the cost as I can make a better burger at home!

My family and I have gotten takeout from Big Wheel a few times, and have never been disappointed. Service is always great, the food is always prepared faster than we can get there, and the quality is tip top. I'm a bit taken aback by some of the reviews here - if you want fast food prices, get McDonalds. If you want a big, delicious, freshly-made meal made with quality ingredients, then Big Wheel is a great option. Like so many other reviewers, I was also dismayed to see that the app automatically added a 12% gratuity, but got over it when I realized I could just increase the amount. Great job again last night, Big Wheel - see you again!

they have limit choice for food. Usually they keep expensive one. I only order one salad and one firs than cost me 18$ ! They charge expensive coniv19 fee which is 15% that so expensive. Spend 18$ I can have really good meal in Vietnam restaurant. My friend purchase double cheese burger and it is normal. I would like to order MDolad use that money. People can accept high service fee 15% extra they welcome to go :) I like their fries by the way and cheap only 5 dollar. And do not order their salad the 11 dollar one which is totally not worth.

Decent burger, steep prices. As opposed to other local businesses that include fries with the burger, such as Top Notch Burgers, the prices at Big Wheel quickly add up if you are looking for a burger, fries, and drink.

Menu was very small and not great choices, the burger was overly salty with missing condiments :( The garlic fries were good though, and the food was hot.

I wish I could post a picture of this tiny little burnt to a crisp patty (definitely not 5 ounces lucky if it’s 1 1/2) and a mountain of wilted lettuce, Took three bites and discarded it. The place was lined up -the drive-through is full and I waited over 20 minutes for this burger, definitely will never be back -and I was so looking forward to trying it. Sorry big wheel -it’s a sad day when McDonald’s can beat you. I did take pictures if you ever care to review them

I was looking forward to a great burger but alas was very disappointed. The patty looked reheated and was colourless. The whole burger was very sloppy, luke warm and relatively tasteless. The “loaded” fries which were pricier basically had three different spices were also disappointing. I found the experience very pricey for the end product.

It was expensive and too salty. I will potentially try again but the two things I ordered were over priced for the flavour and quality. (Sorry.) It was disappointing because I couldn't finish either of the garlic parm fries or the all dressed rings. I hate being wasteful, especially at their prices, but I just couldn't do it. I also drove up from Ladysmith to try this place. I will give them another chance, though.

On Thursday November 2019 Vin Diesel graced my eyes at big wheel burger. He Tokyo Drifted straight in to my heart. I went home and I watched all of the Fast and Furious. He must of senced the chemistry because he came to my house, but unfourtanatly he Tokyo drifted too hard and crashed. Vin diesel is dead.

Got the chance to try out a double cheeseburger from here and it reminded me of how Marshall from How I Met Your Mother described his “Best Burger in New York”. For the past year or so I’ve switched over to replacing my beef burgers with chicken burgers since the beef burgers here all tasted the same for a price thats too high. I was definitely impressed with how the meat in these burgers tasted, not dry or greasy but juicy and flavourful where it made you want to eat more even if you were full. I’ve yet to try anything else from here but I’m looking forward to it. Wonderful place with wonderful real tasting burgers.

I ordered a chicken burger a few weeks ago and it made me very sick. I called them the next day and they were very apologetic and said a gift card for a free meal would be waiting for me. I came in today and no gift card. I paid for my new meal and they said they'd bring it right out and then obviously forgot. I waited outside in the cold for twenty minutes until they finally came out wondering who I was and my meal had been sitting on the counter behind them for God knows how long and now the food is almost cold. I used to love big wheel but two strikes is all I'm doing they just lost a pretty regular customer in me.

My wife picked up 2 cheeseburgers and fries to bring home, and it was all really tasty and it's nice that it's a hand made burger, the price is good and they're local. Would recommend if you want a nice simple tasty burger with some salty hand cut fries.

This store doesn't have hot dogs, milkshakes, kids meal and didn't have chicken today. Got my order wrong. Burger was pink inside. Adds a 15% gratuity to the bill. Burger tastes like a big mac, thousand island dressing on it. $30.00 for 2 cheese burgers and 2 fries, Definitely not unique or worth it. No repeat.

Wow...just wow. My boyfriend and I just tried out Big Wheel burger for the first time today. We ordered two double cheeseburgers with all the fixings and fries! We are both blown away with the quality and taste! We devoured our meals like starved animals!! Hands down best burgers we’ve ever had! The bun, the beef patty, the melty cheese, that sauce!! The chicken burger is by far my favorite, a large piece of chicken breast breaded and topped with everything you could want not sure what is in the special sauce but it sure is tasty!

We have ordered from Big Wheel on many occasions through Door Dash and for pick-up and have never been disappointed. Food is so delicious. I love that they have grass fed meat and are a carbon neutral business. It may be a little more expensive but it’s worth it to support a more environmentally friendly company. Wish they had chicken strips... the only complaint I have which is really just a preference..

Wait for burgers wasn't very long. Prices are quite high for what you get, a regular burger nothing special about it at all. First time there, menu and prices were never explained, but $27 for 2 burgers and one order of fries is way to much. I was the only customer at the time and still couldn't get my order correct or hot. No reason to try again, as I can make better tasting burgers myself. There was nothing there to make it worth spending more, customer service was at the level of McDonald's. Don't waste your time or money.

Had my first Big Wheel double cheese burger. Over $15 for just the burger incl. tax and auto gratuity of 12% I asked them to hold the salt but was still a bit salty. The meat is the attraction here...it is VERY good! But the sauce was bland, the lettuce and tomato wilted (and I was there at opening) and they used processed cheese! Yuck. Crisp veggies, bacon and onion would have helped a lot if included in the price.

Overpriced, underwhelming. I mean was it inedible? No. But would I bother going there again? No. The burger and fries were unmemorable, the shake was an outright insult, but the weirdest bit was when I asked for gravy and they acted confused. Based on the reaction of the girl taking my order, I was given the impression that fries and gravy were some sort of bizarre combination I'd invented out of my own head, and what sort of weirdo was I coming up to a fellow human being and expecting any other reaction than 'baffled' to such an out there request? Weird that every other burger joint knows what gravy is, but okay. Anyway, so I end up in a back and forth with the girl who finally says "well I can just add it as 'poutine' and then make it gravy, I think". I didn't really consider the meaning of this until I'd walked away with my meal and looked at my bill - and discovered she'd charged me the price of poutine for a side of gravy. I’ve been here twice now and thought it seemed rather expensive for what you get. Well, I found out they are autograting the bill for a tip on takeout! I have been tipping on top of this so that is a lot extra on an already 12% tip they have been sneaking. Ive worked as a server and this is considered super shady to do when you don’t verbally tell people, especially considering they aren’t actually serving you it’s TAKE OUT. Not to mention the fries aren’t very good, dry and chewy both times. I did like their burgers but not worth the price and I feel cheated.

I would give this a -5 star review if I could. We ordered two milkshakes and after waiting for 25 minutes and seeing many people come, order a full meal and leave, I decided to say something. The waitress went to the back fridge and grabbed out our two milkshakes that had been sitting there for god knows how long. The only thing that was said was "we lost the bill" no apology, no condolence, just trying to usher us off. By that time the milkshake tasted like a slightly colder version of chocolate milk. I could have got my 6 year old niece to make me a potion that tasted better, costed less, and would have had better service.

This is just another fast food outlet! Asked for a hamburger and extra onions and got 5 little pieces in total with some kind of relish.Fries were hard and luke warm. Our Greek salad came with hamburger patty at the bottom of a pile of pieces of the salad. Atrocious! Decor is hard plastic tables and chairs and we were the only ones in the restaurant so not busy. Patty was way overdone. Basically a bummer of a meal. If you specialize in hamburger and fries you should be sure the meal comes hot and tasty. And so we keep searching. Onions are cheap so 5 little pieces does not cut it.

Not the best looking burgers, but great tasting and portion size. Menu has plenty of standard burgers like double cheeseburger to some pretty tasty sounding vege burgers. The burgers are big, messy and real tasty ???? I recommend only one side per couple if your both getting burgers.

One of the best take out burgers i have had! You can taste the difference in quality ingredients. Called ahead to order for pick up, 15 mins later i waited in a small line of 2 people to pay and pick up. Poutine was good as well. Didn't try a milkshake or fries this time. Definitely a good things for harewood to have this restaurant

Definitely not the best burger place in town as others have reviewed. I appreciate the "local" ingredient initiative and the lower waste. Taste wise, it was okay. It's quite expensive and it makes you feel just as gross as any other fast food. It's just fast food I suppose, I think I set my expectations too high. It is what it is. The auto gratuity is not something I expect or necessarily appreciate from a facility like this. Overall, nothing to write home about and money could be better spent elsewhere.

I don't normally write reviews but this was a very disappointing experience from Big Wheel burger so felt I needed to speak up. I ordered a $200 order through doordash this past weekend. We had 8 crispy chicken burgers that were all over cooked and burned. Poutines that were very low quality and not at all worth the price. Too bad I had higher expectations of this business especially for the price we paid.

This place is overpriced for what you get. Ordered a Poutine that was $8.50, first of all it barely had any gravy on it and it maybe 2tablespoons worth and was such a small portion for the price. I also ordered the chicken burger.. the biggest disappointment. Visually a nice burger. However, it was the most bland chicken burger I have ever had, there was literally no seasoning on this chicken burger, don’t be afraid of using some salt. It’s sad when Wendy’s and McDonald’s can make a Better chicken burger. Husband also had poutine and a beef burger (which he said was good and loved the thick bacon ) but for $51.00 it’s an absolute disappointment and I think even giving one star is pushing it. Never going back again. I should have trusted the other reviews before going.

Not a good first impression. Ordered the cheeseburgers for my husband and I and we couldn't finish them as the sauce was VERY spicy which was not indicated in the description of what we ordered. We enjoy spice but this was overdone. We also ordered the milkshakes which were almost as runny as regular milk. With a $6 price those should be top quality. The only bright spot was the fries but then its hard to ruin those. Very nice staff but won't be back.

My partner and I have been here multiple times since opening. When they opened, the burgers and fries were awesome. Since then, the last few times have been hit & miss. We will be coming back, but I wish they would beef-up thier quality control. That being said, the staff has always been friendly, and we appreciate thier concerns for customer allergies. VEGETARIAN REVIEW. The Nashville chickpea burger is incredible, the patty is truly crunchy; if you’ve tried a few brands of veggie burgers you notice they fall apart easily. NOT THIS BURGER okay it was fully in tact the whole time. The “ ‘slaw ” style greens bring it all together, because with the sauce mixed in with them, every bite is as consistently delicious as your first bite. Finishing off my review, I’ll add that I’m known as by my friends as being a “food critic” BUT this burges. Point blank. Blew my mind, the flavours are so dynamic and encapsulating. I order the small burger special for $10 and it was delicious. The bun was tasty and did not flatten down while eating. Really enjoyed the Ginger Ale made in Victoria and with natural ingredients. Loved the lettuce in the burger as it was like a salad and coated with the dressing. The fries were nice and crispy and not greasy. The staff was very welcoming and pleasant. I will definitely return the next time I yearn for a burger.
