It wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t the worst. We ordered the calamari but couldn’t eat it. Totally not their fault - I’m sure it was good. I didn’t think to ask and I just cannot eat the large squid (sorry). I prefer the Greek style little deep fried ones. The Gnocci was good and the meatballs and salad were also good. The wine was also nice. Note the cheapest glass you can get it $11 not $15 as some other reviews say...My least favourite part was the bill. I don’t feel the quality of the food matches the high prices. I think the rating would be higher if they matched.

They made us wait for half an hour even though we had reservations, once seated they took too long to bring our drinks (they came after our main meal) and they charge for water! They don’t tell you that until you get the bill and see you were charged 6$ for a refilled bottle of tap water. Spend your money at a better place in the old port.

Little gem! Authentic flavorful italian cuisine. Polpette was very hearty and the meat sauce was delicious on it. 3 big meatballs so probably better to share this appetizer. Octopus was tender and served with a nice salad with orange supremes. For main my boyfriend had spaghetti with shrimps, it is very very spicy but the waiter let us know when he ordered, my bf loves spicy so he enjoyed it a lot. I had the seafood pasta, it had lots of seafood but i had to add a little bit of spicy oil for a kick but thats my personal taste. For dessert the cannoli had pistachios on top which was a very uncommon but delicious addition and the souffle was perfectly paired with vanilla ice cream. The service was very thoughtful and attentive. We will absolutely go back to try other dishes!

Cute little restaurant, it felt authentic and very homey. The food was average, price is decent and the service was mediocre as well. I wish there was something more I could say about this place but it was just OK overall. It was Saturday and we had ended our cruise in Montreal and had checked in our hotel. The hotel restaurant was totally booked so we were walking past the Bastille and saw Ristorante Quattro's menu on its window. The restaurant was closed but someone walked up and entered so we walked in behind them to see if we could make reservations for the evening. I asked the gentleman at the bar if we could make reservations for dinner. He said certainly and another gentleman behind the bar noticed my Texas A&M cap and commented "That's where Johnny Manziel went to college." (Johnny Manziel plays for the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL.) The rest is history. Our dinner was outstanding. The owner spent a lot of time explaining their specialty menu items and they were prepared perfectly. We really enjoyed our dinner and finished the evening with a Limoncello toast. We ate at our hotel restaurant Sunday evening but then decided to go back to Ristorante Quattro Monday evening for our last Ole Montreal dinner. It was just as good "the second time around."

Fantastic experience! We went for the ridiculous entree, the tomahawk for $106 that serves 2 people, 35 oz, takes 40 minutes to prepare. The first 10 minutes it sits to get to room temperature before they start handling it. I can see how some had issues with the server. Our initial sever I wasn't that impressed with. She seemed unsure of the menu and her recommendations made me uninterested in the menu. When I asked about the tomahawk that's when things get better. She asked this gentleman, who I think was the manager, to help us. He was very informative and gave reassurances on their quality. He paid attention to the details and noted I was a picture taker. They offered to allow me a quick picture of the steak on the grill! Fantastic. The chef was very friendly as was the rest of the kitchen staff in the back. Unfortunately I didn't get any of their names (I felt weird asking). The octopus is at a great price point and was delicious as well. I was happy with the details. The chef offered to slice up the rest of the steak for us when we packed it to make it easier to eat later. The bread on the side with olive oil was of good quality. This can be a fantastic restaurant, but service matters. If you feel you might not be getting the best service I'd suggest talking to the manager. I feel like he will correct it. (Or serve you himself which is great too)

This was our first time dining at Ristorante Quattro. All I can say AMAZING!!!! The staff was very welcoming, they went above and beyond accommodating all our wants. We felt like we were part of the family. My daughter is Celiac. Blissful, to find a restaurant who"s menu caters gluten free food. The food was delicious and portions were generous. We went to Ristorante Quattro on Aug 11, 2018 at the recommendation of the concierge of our hotel because I was too late to make reservations for the restaurant I really wanted to go to (Restaurant Da Emma). The service was slow as the servers were more interested in serving the 2 girls (who came after us) dressed up for a night out rather than us. We waited 20 min to get menus. The rose wine and baguette with olive oil the best part of the meal. We started off with their soup of the day which was barley; it was thick and hearty, but also 2 dimensional in flavour. I ordered the beet, goat cheese and arugula salad to share. The arugula was simply dressed with olive oil but far too salty. My boyfriend had the trout which was cooked perfectly and served with veggies. I had the seafood pasta which I thought lacked flavour. The tiramisu we had for dessert was just ok. Overall, an uninspired dining experience punctuated with poor service.

I wish it was about the food but it isn’t. The food was good but I had a disaster taking it away. It came in the WORST take away paper bag: 1) tomato sauce will leak 2) the takeaway box was placed in an upright position where the opening of the box was positioned downwards, at the bottom of the bag 3) it was in a PAPER bag so it soaked the bottom, which caused it to rip open... It caused large stains on an expensive coat and I had a pretty hard time scrubbing it off as tomato sauce can severely stain. This ruined my night until to the point where I didn’t feel hungry anymore. So, I recommend the restaurant to be more cautious when packaging sauces for takeaways, as I want to avoid this for other customers.

My wife and I had a great experience here at Ristorante Quattro. Don't believe the other reviews about this place being expensive, prices were normal for Montreal. Don't believe the long tirades from people about all the small details... these are people who dine out three times a year. Take it from me...I spend easily $40k per year on dining, and have been to Italy many times to travel and done. This restaurant is very good, especially if you wish to have authentic pastas. Many of the fine Italian restaurants focus on gastronomic-style menus. This restaurant focuses on simplicity and authenticity. The Caesar salad here was fantastic, probably one of the top two or three I've ever had. My wife had the spaghetti Allo Scoglio and I had the Cavatelli. Both were very tasty and authentic. The server, who I believe was the owner, offered us a Chardonnay that wasn't on the menu (or used to be, but wasn't currently) as we wanted a buttery chardonnay, and voila... we got it ( great price too). Bottom line, we were both pleased with the service and food.

Simply wonderful. What a lovely restaurant. After a day spent visiting museums and enjoying Old Montreal, we were tired and hungry. There are traditional Italian dishes and there are some very original ones. The place is very nice and the staff is very friendly. We were very surprised at how good the food was, they do a great job of serving known dishes but also of giving their own take to some classics. Prices are reasonable and the place is very nice. AT the end of our supper there was a very loud group that came in that kind of annoyed all the other tables, but I cannot hold that against the restaurant. Will definitely return, one of the best Italian restaurants in the city.

Not sure where to start...food or service - both spectacular! And having them both togther made the experience really worthwhile. It's not a 'nuvo' kind of place...but more classic with a modern touch. The place felt very cozy and easy to relax in. He servers were most attentive and sincere. And the food spot on. I had the braised short rib...so tender and flavorful. My wife had Pappardelle with meat ragout she enjoyed very much. And for dessert we had the traditional Tiramisu, which was so light yet so full of flavor - a delight in every bite. We left satisfied and fulfilled on all accounts.

We've lived in Montreal 5 years now and have tried what feels like all their best restaurants from the upscale hot spots to the charming local dives. Ristorante Quattro remains one of our very favorites with delicious food and fantastic service. Try starting with the Insalata di Rucola & Polp ai ferri followed their homemade Fettuccine Ai Gamberi or their classic Pappardelle al Ragu. Splurge on their best wine and the Dolce del Giorno.

Had lunch on a Sunday afternoon with my husband and we really enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived, but a few tables got filled after we started eating. Service was great. Food was very good. The highlights for us was the Penne Tartufata & Arancini. Pappardelle al Ragu was alright, pretty standard. Polpo (octopus) was good and came on a bed of nice refreshing salad, but the octopus was a bit chewy. Burrata was decent, but smaller than expected. All the staff are very friendly and was helpful when we had some questions about cheeses bring pasteurized, as I’m pregnant. Bathroom was clean. Will come back again for the Penne Tartufata & to maybe try the gnocchi.

Good pasta and Really Nice Canneloni Desert unfortunately I got stuck with a Bad bottle of Barberra(avoid) it changed halfway through the bottle to something nasty(horrible ).This was according to my memory the WORSE BOTTLE PURCHASED(THE BOTTLE JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE WITH EACH SIP TILL JUST BEFORE HALFWAY THROUGH IT REALLY REALLY DID BECOME UNDRINKABLE!!)FROM A RESTAURANT IN THIS LIFE OF OVER 50YEARS!! NOTHING HAS EVER COME CLOSE!!! AND I ASKED THEM TO TASTE IT!!THIS HORRIBLE WHO KNOWS WHAT!! AND THEY REFUSED TO REFUND!!! Interesting enough they do have nice premium bottles on hand like Sassicas ?? I have easily spent several hundred thousand $$ on wine in this lifetime. It is one of my PASSIONS and Montreal is a REALLY GREAT PLACE FOR THAT Especially with SAQ!! A simply wonderful Italian gem! We enjoyed lunch here today and everything was perfect. Every. Single. Thing. Our host helped me pair a wine with my meal that enhanced my dining experience. My wife's meal was flawless (with the exception of a tomato that was a little less than perfect, but it's November and it's Montreal so that's forgivable!). Looking forward to returning on the next trip to Montreal. They make each risotto order as it comes in which take a little longer - worth every minute of the wait.

Had a phenomenal experience here. Cozy atmosphere, the food was delicious (I had the gnocchi), and the service was top notch. My fiancee has Celiac's and they brought out gluten free bruschetta and bread for her (in addition to the excellent regular bruschetta) as soon as she mentioned her allergy. They have gluten free pasta options as well.

So disappointing. On our 1 week vacation to Montreal we planned 1 night out on the town to dress up and go to a nice restaurant and were so upset to have chose this one. The reviews were great, but the food was not good. I ordered the gnocchi and it was so bland and tasted like flour. Under stimulating. Not only was the food not what the reviews hyped it to be, it was terribly overpriced. The plate of horrible gnocchi was $25 alone, and the cheapest glass of wine we could order was $15 a glass. Our bill for the two of us with no dessert and 1 drink each was $100. My husband ordered the Ragu with house meat sauce and didn't mind it, but we definitely both agree that it wasn't worth the price we paid. The atmosphere was alright. We were one of 3 tables. Had it been busy, we would not have enjoyed the seating, which is awkwardly close. I wish the reviews were not so misleading. We are kicking ourselves for spending our money here. (Yes, I have been to Italy, and Yes I have had gnocchi. I've had better Gnocchi at chain restaurants, which doesn't say much for this place)

We searched for an Italian restaurant near our hotel and this was walking distance. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Josee (the owner) and asked if we had a reservation. We were 2 and did not, so we were going to sit at the bar. Fortunately, they found us a table for 2 so that was a bonus! We were given friendly service from our waitress, water and brushetta as an appetizer right away. I had the seasonal soup and my mom had the ceasar salad to start, both delicious. We had more complimentary bread and both ordered the house lasagna. Unfortunately, we were tight on time as we were attending a concert, and we had to take our main course to go. The waitress felt badly but gave us all our cutlery to go with amazing service. The lasagna was delicious. I would definitely visit again with more time! Beautiful ambience, location and service :)

We were in Old Montreal for a long week-end and we loved this restaurant so much we ate there twice. The food was the best we have had since our travels to Italy! The salads are fresh and plentiful, and the homemade pasta is melt in your mouth delicious. The service was extraordinary. The owner Francesco was there both nights and personally waited on us when we came back a second time with friends. He assisted us in choosing wines, and shared his knowledge of Italy when asked. Reasonably priced for an excellent dining experience. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this restaurant.

Last Saturday, we had a fabulous dinner at Ristorante Quattro. The head chef Christian Canella is exceptionally knowledgeable and creative. We asked for la Piccata di Vitello al Limone, a dish that was not on the menu, and there was no problem at all. All staff members are very professional and have a good sense of humour. A little over a year ago, I had the good fortune of meeting and spending some time with Nino at his bar at Quattro. We drank some beer together and talked. He told me to make a reservation for dinner and I wouldn't be sorry. Two nights later I went to dinner there with my wife. We had an excellent meal. Great taste and very generous portions. Nino was right. He gabs a lot but, he's Italian! He helped make the dinner as good as it was. Should I ever visit Montreal again I'll certainly head to Quattro for dinner.

We went last night without expectations and we were pleasantly surprised. The quality of the meals, the flavor of the sauces and the variety of the menu impressed us. We were expecting several pages of pasta choices, but finally the menu was very varied as well as the flavors. We share appetizers and entrees to get a good opinion and we are literally impressed! The meat balls were insanely good, braised lamb sauce was wow and and all the dishes taste different! Usually in an Italien restaurant, I think everything taste the same, but not there! Wow, wow, wow! I visited this restaurant with a group friends one of whom is Celiac. From the moment we got there we were given amazing service! We mentioned the allergy and the attention to detail and making sure my friend received the same experience as everyone else at our table was phenomenal. She received a special GF amuse bouche, when they brought fresh warm bread to the table a seperate basket with a GF bread was brought to the table. Our meals were beautifully presented and delicious and dessert was so tasty (some of the best tirimisu)! The service was the perfect balance of always being available and making sure our needs were met and being removed enough that we felt like the only people there having a fun girls night out! My girlfriend and I had a delicious multi course meal at Quattro. Our server was very knowledgeable of the wine and recommended a wonderful bottle. I booked a table at 8:45 pm, we were running behind in traffic as we are out of town , and we called them immediately to tell them that we will be 10 minutes behind, the person was very rude but we confirmed regardless. We get there and we don't have a table so we sat for 15 min unattended at the bar, waiting for our table. The bartender didn't even ask us if we wanted drinks, on top of that I see that our reservation was cancelled prior to us getting there. We literally called another restaurant nearby and left . I can't review the food as I didn't taste it, but the service is mediocre at best.
