Food is great some of the best fish and chips iv had. there isnt too much batter and a good size piece of fish. They also offer 2 different kinds of batter for the fish. There fried clams are pretty good to. I will forsure be going back they also offer take out which is pretty good to.

Skipper Jack's is a great place to go if you want good seafood for a decent price. My wife had the fish tacos featuring an excellent salsa and a good portion of fish. Very tasty. I had the 2 piece fish and chips which had 2 generous fillers and lots of delicious fries. Each meal was under $15. We left full and satisfied we got our moneys worth. Our food came quickly and piping hot. Recommend this little gem. 4 stars because it was a bit noisy. Only complaint.

A staff member made a mistake by putting another table members item on my bill. Rather than offering to fix the problem, they insisted that I pay for it. The food was good, the owner was nice, but being talked down to before I had left ruined my whole experience.

Our server was amazing - very friendly and helpful. The seafood chowder was outstanding ... loaded with seafood & no potato filler. Excellent. The fish tacos were good, but not great. The only reason we didn't rate 5 stars is because the fries were not very fresh - lukewarm & it seemed like the oil needed changing too. Other than that, it was a great experience & a clean, well-kept place.

Went in for the NS Halibut fish n chips. Man it was good. Nice piece of fish, chips were tasty, and they had traditional malt vinegar. To top it all off, a Newfoundland Black Horse beer! I'll be back for sure.

Been here numerous times, it's a favourite place of ours and one of the best places to eat in Moncton. The seafood is amazing, always local and fresh. The Jack stack burger is simply amazing. Lots of variety and a great carrot cake made in house. The seating is good, as well as the atmosphere, usually lots of space and wait times aren't unreasonable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There were even highchairs available for our Son. Anyone looking for good seafood in Moncton , Skipper Jack's should be your first choice. Like I said, not just great seafood, but the rest of the menu is just as deadly. Give it a try!

Rare legit seafood at value price Got the seafood platter and although it looks kind of small they plate it too humbly. This is so legit so many places say seafood and few deliver! This platter; the clam strips are big, juicy and fresh. The scallops are huge and succulent. Shrimps are delicious and the price for all this is serious value. Highly recommend.

Skipper Jack's is a nice diner to take your family or friends out for a bite to eat. It reminds me of Newfoundland, with several seafood dishes. They have "newfie fries" which is similar to a turkey dinner poutine only without the turkey and cranberry sauce. Very good food.

It was a busy saturday night but we were greeted properly and seated fairly quickly. Very happy with the on tap beer selection too. I had the lobster roll, hubby had fish and chips. We were very happy with our meal and the service. Huge portions. I would return and recommend this place.

Called in to place an order for pickup, was told we had to place order in store location which is fair. However, wanted seafood chowder and has a history of being 'sold out' or 'don't have a pot on' in the past. Opted for Gahan House instead particularly because the employee answering the phone was quite standoffish. Enjoy the food from previous visits, however only 3 stars due to unreliable chowder, standoffish employee, and having to drive over for the potential of not receiving what we crave. Probably won't attempt again after this.

A gem of a place for fish and chips. Enjoyed my meal thoroughly and they serve your pop in a 510ml bottle which is a nice change to the normal can or small glass of fountain pop. Gravy was done right for the fries and while the coleslaw was minced, it was actually a treasure in it's own sense. I'll be back if I'm ever back in Moncton

HORRIBLE SERVICE! Took almoat an hour to get our food. Neither the waitress nor the owner seemed to even care! Just made stupid excuses. Although admittedly the taste was good, the portions are small. Will not be back.... too many other seafood choices to deal with this !

We decided to visit here for lunch today. What a pleasant experience! The place was clean, and the service was excellent. The waitress was knowledgeable, and helpful in her suggestions. Our kids ordered the grilled cheese and popcorn shrimp off of the kids menu, and were very happy. My wife ordered the fish and chips and commented that these were the best she had ever had. I ordered the Ships A-Hoy Platter....good amount of food and the seafood was excellent. Oh, the hand cut fries were very good also! Thanks for a great meal!!

The best poutine out of Quebec I've ever had, the fish and chips was just as delicious. So much so that I wished I was staying longer near by to try more of the menu. The menu is one of the better ones I've seen, great selection and value for what you pay. It was packed in there and mostly New Brunswick license plates, so if the locals go it's gotta be good.

I had the festive poutine. It was the best poutine I've ever had. It included fries cheese curds, a delicious gravy and big pieces of turkey and stuffing. The side of cranberries with a hint of cinnamon was so yummy! The portion was large too! I will be back soon to have it again.

First time to eat here at Skipper Jack's... OMG was it good! I ordered the regular bacon cheeseburger and poutine. The burger was amazing! I bet it had to of been at least 5oz of burger, it was huge! The bun was toasted too. Poutine was just as good, lots of cheese curds. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone out there. You won't be disappointed ????

We were a party of 4. Our order took an unusually long time to arrive but when it came it was piping hot and delicious. 2 ordered the fish and chips, one had the platter and I had the seafood chowder. The seafood chowder was one of the best I've ever had! And I've eaten a LOT of chowder! The fish was good, fresh and flakey. Only 1 piece out of the 4 was slightly overcooked. The fried clams were delicious and the bacon wrapped scallops were especially yummy. Skipper Jack's is my new go to place for chowder!

Used to be our favourite restaurant. The last few times we've had very long waits and the food hasn't been up to the usual standard. It's still really good, but not as good as we had become accustomed to from Skipper Jacks. Won't be back for awhile but we will certainly give it another chance in the future.

We’re seated promptly water brought, food brought which was good. Then not talked till it was time for check had to ask for the gravy which she up sold and malt vinegar not brought or extra tartar sauce asked for. Very bad service on waitresses part may be we weren’t dressed fancy enough as we were still in work close. Very disappointed.

Wow..first time at this restaurant and it was excellent. We're not from Moncton and didn't know where we should go for a good seafood supper. SKIPPER JACKS was THE place Excellent service was given to us by ALL the waitresses! So very attentive and pleasant..they know costumer service and aim to please as they do please. Can't say enough about those ladys(and I did see one gentlemen waiter) The food was excellent. Hands down the best seafood dinner I've had in a very long time. The cook was hidden but his expertise was shown in his food Go to SKIPPER JACKS! I highly recommend this family friendly casual restaurant.

Being new residents we have only eaten here twice. Everytime, both my wife and I have enjoyed our meals. Excellent service and extremely tasty meals. Never been disappointed. Cutting into my fish I could see it was pure white and very flakey, as it should be. No over powering "fishy" taste to it. Nor was it overly oily. Fully pleased with both our meals. We will definately both be back to enjoy another meal in future. Let it be known that the current COVID protocols are being used here and we both appreciate their thoughtfulness. Hoping to be out of this pandemic soon. Both my wife and I entered wearing our masks. Used their available hand sanitizer. Took our masks off for our meal and put them on before leaving. Once again sanitized our hands as we left.

Stopped in on the recommendation of a local. Was not disappointed. Enjoyed the Parmesan and Pretzel crusted fish, with coleslaw, and my coworker convinced me to have the Hot Mess dessert. I am happy that I am easily led, because everything was spot on, including the Pump House Blueberry Ale. The service was very good, and the staff, very friendly.

On our travels, decided to try this restaurant because my wife wanted fish and chips. Food was very good. Chips were made from real potatoes with the skins on and I would say based on the appearance that the potatoes were fresh as well. None of those frozen packaged fries so many restaurants serve. We also shared a bowl of mussels as an appetizer, plenty for two to share with a nice broth for dipping. Fish portions in the fish and chips were adequate but not quite as large as the menu blurb implied. Each piece was a slab about three inches wide and 5 or six long. Tasty and not overcooked. We would definitely go here again.

We ordered the Deck Hand, it is a combo of Shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops. The shrimp were way over cooked, our waitress was busy so another came over and asked what was wrong. She argued with us that that was the way they should be since they are deep fried and the coconut burns before they can cook, i argued they were dry and way over done. She came back from the kitchen with empty plate and asked that I put my shrimp on the plate, after about 15 minutes she came back with more shrimp minus the one as I had eaten one of the burnt ones. Very poor service very disappointed. Scallops and sweet potato fries very good. Unfortunate we felt so uncomfortable . 2 waitresses where wearing plastic mask that were not safe at all. All around unpleasant experience . Not sure if we will be back.

Just a warning to everyone who is gluten free. I fully recognize that unless a place is fully certified it's not guaranteed to be gluten free. However for the most part I've been able to work around it. Except here. When I got to the restaurant I asked them what is gluten free the first waitress gave me my options. Another waitress who took our order told me some of that is wrong. I had her clarify with the back. I ordered the walnut crusted fish which is considered gluten . I then asked if the fries were fried in oil with anything that has gluten she said yes. I told her I was not able to have them because of the cross conaminations which makes it not gluten free. My order comes with mashed potatoes and my walnut "crusted gluten free" fish just as I'm about to eat it my friend asked are you sure that's not fried. And it was fried in the same oil as everything else. Anyone who is truly gluten free please be careful here!

This restaurant is great every day of the week, but I especially love Tuesdays as they offer Taco Tuesdays with $2.50 Fish Tacos. They are sweet and savory, and light. They have a mixture of house made corn salsa, and a spicy cream sauce. They are absolutely delicious. I’ve also had a number of other dishes here, including the fish, and the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. The quality of the food that comes out is always consistently delicious. I highly recommend trying this restaurant!

Oh my goodness! This place is amazing!! The tartar sauce is to die for and the coleslaw is delicious. We had the Ships Ahoy platter and the fish burger and both were fabulous. We couldn't stop talking about how flavorful the food was and how generous the servings were. It was a very good amount of food for the price. The service was very good and quick. Awesome!! We had 8 people order a variety of dishes, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I found the price for a few things was a bit more than the portion size was worth - but really that was just personal opinion. If you are looking for amazing seafood, look no further and give them a try! :)

The four of us traveling together looked forward to have a meal at this highly recommended restaurant. The food was very good but somewhat over priced on some items. The server was friendly but messed up my wife's meal which she admitted was the second time this week she had messed up the same item for another patron. We had all but finished our meals when my wife got hers. There was NO consideration for the inconvenience which in my opinion fell short of what would be considered warranted justification for the low rating. Thanks for you response Skipper. I accept your justification on the pricing. However with respect to the inconvenience and order messed up it wasn't the case of a new team member and it wasn't a playing error. My wife ordered the scallops and sweet potato fries. She was brought fried clams & regular fries by a different server which was immediately returned. Shortly after our server apologized and told us she did the same thing earlier in the week to a different patron. We are currently in Bathurst then to PEI returning to Moncton on the 6th and 7th. We will give Skipper Jack's another opportunity to live up to the recommendations we have received

I sincerely hope that this was an outlier situation. First off, my server was rather blunt and bordering rude when I simply asked what came standard on one of the burgers. The menu provided no info on several items and if all staff are like the lady I got. I hope you like eating blind. The food I was burger I was served was passable at best. The bun was drenched in butter and the burger was very thick but looked out of place as it only filled 60 of the bun space.

Great experience! We were probably their last round of customers towards the end of dinner shift. Restaurant was incredibly busy with takeout at the front door throughout our dinner. This place was very popular with local people. Many customers knew the servers by name. First thing the server said to us was "Thank you for coming here to dine with us!" He was sincere and friendly, and honestly it was the first time I have heard a restaurant staff saying such a thing. Sadly you can feel the impact of covid-19 Pandemic in this industry. Food was fresh from ingredients to cooking. Everything was cooked perfectly and old fashioned, the way it should be with these type of food. I will definitely go back again.

visited Aug 30th - ordered fish&chips and lobster roll with extra lobster the Fish portion was done panko style, however a bit on the oily side, however the chips made up for it, I knew NB was famous for her potatoes but I was not able to fully appreciate it until today! the lobster roll with extra lobster was absolutely crazy......and for only $25!!!! ps. next time we visit, I would skip the fish&chips and instead go for the fish tacos, the tables around us ordered it and it looked simply amazing pps. we appreciated the super friendly service also!

The food and service at Skipper Jack’s was great! I went back in August and was pleasantly surprised with how fresh and tasty the seafood was. We ordered the Ships A’Hoy Platter which provides a good variety. Our favorite was the Big Boat Shrimp and Fish & Chips. I’m only giving 4 stars because the Steamed PEI Mussels we ordered were kinda small and only tasted okay compared to the rest of the meal. Otherwise, everything else was fantastic!

Went here a few years ago and the food was plentiful and delicious. Decided to try again because we remember such a good experience. We were seated quickly but it took at least 20 minutes for someone to come and take our order and then another 50 minutes for our food to come. It felt like we were the forgotten table. The food was okay but I wouldn't have the kids order the kids menu popcorn shrimp again. It didn't look fresh and they got three tiny shrimps and a few French fries. As for our adult food we shared a seafood chowder which was delicious and a platter which had great grilled scallops but a bit greasy for the rest of the food.

We went with our two young boys. They enjoyed the grilled cheese. I had chowder and sandwich and it was good. We started with mussels and they were not very good flavor. My husband had clams and honestly they were gross. They had bug ones that were fully of what looked like diarrhea and it went all over his plate. They should have noticed this before serving. We had heard great thing but the claims and mussels ruined the meal.

Unfortunately ran into the owner on a Facebook post where he insulted me and my profession calling me and all others in the nutritionist profession frauds. His wife then came on and posted private messages we exchanged after a bad experience I had at the restaurant over a year ago. They overcharged for a burger, $20 for a burger with no sides and a glass of water. I gave a review saying the burger was good but the price was poor. I was called a liar and that I was just trying to get something for nothing despite not wanting any money back. After it started to look bad on them on the public page she went to messenger to offer me a refund. I didn’t want a refund. An apology for the insults on the public forum would have sufficed. Unless you want your business with them displayed to the public and want to support ignorant business owners who insult others profession for fun don’t support this business. They have a true lack of character.

Skipper Jack's in Moncton has a homemade chowder that rocks. My wife gave me one bite, and I thought it was excellent. She scarfed the rest of the bowl, and looked like she wanted to lick the bowl at the end. My deep fried scallops (on a bed of french fries) was excellent. I would have preferred more scallops, and I could've bought the larger dish, but they were perfectly done, a crispy crust around a succulent and moist scallop. Oh, Yum!

I was somewhat dissapoited with my large fish and chips tonight,,they put it on a paper plate instead of the foam plate which closes on top with the paper liner,,,they put the fish on the bottom and put the hot fries on top. So the crispy fish was no longer crispy and the the other fish was soggy.Just a suggestion,,,why d,ont you lay the fish on top of the fries instead,,i would like your comments on this,,,thank you

amazing food and service! the waitress recommended the cesar salad with bacon scallops, garlic shrimp and sauteed mushrooms. They were 20 minutes before closing and still went out of their way to accommodate them. Would definitely recommend over the other options (Montana's and rotisserie). Also for those who aren't seafood friends the chicken tenders are unreal 10/10 would hands down recommend.

I went to skipper Jacks and received bad service and the management clearly does not care about that. Here is the comment i left on their Facebook page (which they did not post) Today was my first experience with Skipper Jacks and I had to try the poutine sandwich, and yes it was delicious. HOWEVER, the service on the other hand was "lack there of". Usually a waitress will let you know when something isn't included with a meal or if it is extra just in case you weren't aware, but that was not the case here instead lets snake 6 bucks out of 3 customers....NOT COOL! if your customers assume there is a side included with a meal it is your job to make it clear to them that it is extra especially 6 dollars extra, not only that but when it is questioned maybe apologize and try and act sincere and maybe help your customer out or something but don't act like its not your problem and roll your eyes and tell us there's nothing you can do. you just gouged 3 customers and instead of being polite you are nothing but rude and not just one of you but all 3 servers. Customer service tip: 1 Don't roll your eyes at the customer, 2 Don't slam your hands on the counter and walk away from your customer and 3 help the customer out and BE POLITE! cant say i will return to Skipper Jacks which is unfortunate and I certainly won't recommend you. Their response was this: Sorry we didnt meet your service expectations. out poutine grilled cheese is a meal and doesnt include a salad, especially at 10.99. it is unfortunate you wont be returning either. Have a nice day so apparently they dont care at all about the bad service provided and are okay with losing customers.

A low key restaurant that seems to be newly renovated. The chowder was phenomenal, there were huge chunks of fish, scallops, and lobster. It was creamy and had a nice little roll to go with it. I tried to eat the ships ahoy platter as well but it was way too much for one person. The platter was all deep fried so it can get to your stomach quite quickly. I found the clams were a bit too oceany. Would definitely come back here though.

Our visit that day, which was my second time dining at the restaurant and the first since they renovated, was OK. The service was good, the wait time was reasonable for a Friday, the atmosphere was really nice as well as the dishes' presentation. Although, when it came to the food itself my partner and I weren't really impressed. Both our poutine and coslaw were good but we found that our main items, burger and lobster roll, were bland and did'nt really impress us. With that said, I would of still giving this nice restaurant a 4 stars review but had a slightly unpleasant experience with my lobster roll. On the menu it advertised that it included "house mayo", which mine didn't have any in it. Both my partner and I made sure to look really closely before we mentioned it to the server. We basically took it apart, looking on the bun, lobster and lettuce to confirm there was indeed no mayo in it. We even found a piece of cucumber hanging out in the lettuce? But no mayo. When we were confident the mayo was missing we told the server, which took it to the kitchen and came right back with a new one (it was almost instant - kudos for that). Then the server told us what the kitchen said, that there was mayo in the other roll just a little. After spending a few minutes taking the original roll apart and not seeing any mayo, that comment made me feel like they were telling me that I was a liar. Simply forgetting the mayo is a human error, which I would of brushed off and not think about it again, but coming back saying there was some in it but just a little, that one I will sadly not forget.

Don't be fooled - this restaurant gives the appearance of a fast food restaurant, but it's not. It was the best meal we ate and we've had some pretty awesome seafood while in the Maritimes. The chowder was generous, full of seafood and I'll go out on the limb and say that it's the best I've had in my life. And I come from a family of fishermen & grew up eating seafood. The seafood chowder was the BEST in all of the city of Moncton!! Full of fish,lobster and scallops...very filling,beautiful flavor...excellent????

Blown away every time. Today was traditional breaded fish, although I also love the walnut crunch and Parmesan oregano. Washed that down with excellent bacon wrapped scallops glazed with maple. Just awesome!

I yelped a fish and chips place in Moncton, I'm new to the area. I also love fish and chips. This place was highly rated, and it delivered. I asked what kind of fish it was, and it was Haddock, and that's my favorite. I had an awesome meal, and have been back. And I will go back again. And again....

Went in for a lobster roll combo but couldn’t swap the coleslaw so just grabbed the lobster roll. Nice big bun, not bad amount of lobster, nasty lettuce was hiding underneath. Docked a star for lettuce, not swappable coleslaw, and a bit pricey.

After reading the reviews and being in Moncton for the first time, we decided to give it a try as take out. All 5 of us tried the fish and chips! We really enjoyed the taste and the portions... the price was very reasonable at 12.99 a plate. I was told by the hotel desk clerk that it's a family owned business... all the waitresses were sweet and the service was very quick I was impressed. I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Moncton

Good lobster roll and the seafood chowder is a favourite as promised. Fish and chips were OK, but very battered and a bit oily. Good news is everything is fresh with the larger crowds. Better to visit off-hours if you want to sit quickly.

The food is excellent ???? . Today I ordered The Mate Platter. A bit smaller than Sea Food platter. Delicious Fries, Whole Clams, Fish, and Scrumsious Scallops. Seafood was done in light and tasty batter. Thank You.

They ran out of lobster during open season. Had to settle for lobster rolls. Good but over priced. I would definitely go back for lobster as I have eaten it there before.

This place actually has the best seafood in the city. It seems to be a hidden gem as it's never really that busy but the food coming out of the kitchen is cooked perfectly. Plus they have a decent fish taco Tuesday. Do not judge by the exterior when you drive by as the restaurant is the real deal. Most of the fish, scallops, clams etc are all local. And it's not only about fish, their poutines are well made in a variety of flavours with rotating specials you wouldn't have known you wanted.

Went for Taco Tuesday, place was packed but our wait was very minimal. Our server was wonderful, food tasted great and the portions were decent. Will be back and have been recommending it to the many tourists that come into our city, keep up the great work!
