Stopped here for dinner before we left Medicine Hat for Winnipeg after purchasing a truck. My wife and I shared a bowl of soup. it was very good- added avocados and sour cream (Wifes preference) although certainly not necessary. Main courses were enchiladas verdes and veggie burrito. Both were awesome. Washed it all down with a cold dos esquis and we were quite satisfied and ready to hit the road home very happy! If we’re ever back in Medicine Hat, we will certainly visit The Mexican Hat again!

Certainly not what we were expecting. Authentic Mexican food from a region that I am not familiar with. All the salsas are made from tomatillos and green peppers, so very green, and blended, so not chunky. We did not like any of the salsas. They all had a rather odd flavor. The service was not the best ... appears they cater to “skip the dishes” delivery vs their in store customer. Example: we arrived together with another couple, both ordered at the same time, all 4 of us ordered the enchiladas, and the couple we were with, got their order, and were finished eating before ours was brought out. They could have waited, but then their meal would have been stone cold by the time ours was served. The ‘server’ apologized for the delay and explained it was due to the ‘take out and delivery orders’. That is not cool with us! Will we be back? Nope don’t think we will, it is not the kind of Mexican food we prefer! Rather drive to Havre or Lethbridge!

What a wonderful find in Medicine Hat. Run by a Mexican couple. Husband cooking wife front of house. Torta and enchiladas were amazing and very reasonably priced. Looking forward to dining again the next time I’m in the Hat!

Great tacos. Went there on a Tuesday and the 3 kinds of tacos were $1.99. Super good deal. The hot sauces range from mild to medium and hot. they have a few of each and honestly all of them are great but the spicy one was my favorite. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy an authentic Mexican taco. Will definitely go back again glad medicine hat has its own Mexican hat.

Again had a decent meal here. Good food service is quick. Got to sit down have a beer. Consistently delivering tasty food that is hot and there is always so much food I leave totally full up - don't eat so many chips - they said. Sauces have all got a lot of flavour and variety between the red and green, and the mild, medium and hot. Definitely going back.

Excellent Mexican food and will definitely be returning when I'm back in Medicine Hat. They custom made a California Burrito for me as it's not on their main menu. We also purchased the San Diego fries and it was delicious. The carne asada meat was cut a little too small as I prefer larger chunks cooked medium rare. The meat was just about diced and well done. Sauces could have been spicier but this is Canada so I understand. That being said, it was refreshing to have Mexican food that more closely resembled food south of the border. I wholeheartedly recommend.

The staff was very friendly. The food was not authentic Mexican cuisine. Enchilada verde doesnt just have chicken. It also has peppers, garlic, cilantro, just to name a few other things that should be in it. I ordered this dish and was disappointed with it. It didnt even come with green salsa on it like the menu stated. Just chicken in it with cheese and sour cream on top. Not authentic Mexican cuisine. wont be back.

This is a double sided post. The food is fresh and tasty. You can tell that there is quality going into the cooking. One thing I like is the kitchen is open so you can see where your food is being made. Medicine Hat needs more diversity for food and this place adds to it. Now the flip side. This place is advertised as original Mexican....which it’s NOT. My Enchiladas were just tacos with sauce on top. An Enchilada is rolled tortilla with a typical meat filling and served with a chilli sauce. Also I’ve never seen French fries as a side in a Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is set up like a restaurant but with no table service, you order first then sit and your food is brought to you. However food is brought out as it’s made so if you come with a group no one will be served at the same time and the food doesn’t come out together. The person taking the orders likes to argue with you and rush you through the ordering process. I wish he was wearing a name tag. Also not everything on the menu is order-able. They were out of a lot of the deserts and offered no compromises. There is no salsa served with chips. No variety of sauces to choose from nor is their any variety of sides with your meal. Unlike a real Mexican restaurant you only get one side with your meal. What I’m saying is this is an upscale Mucho Burrito. However Medicine Hat needs variety and if this is what it is then why not.

Great local find. A must stop if visiting or living in Medicine Hat. The interior concept design is beautiful with the cast iron fixtures for lighting and the psuedo brick walls.Many options for eating as they have a sitting bar with stools , picnic style tables and traditional tables with chair for anyone with special needs. The wait staff is extremly tentative. As for the food it is phenomenal. Like I said a must try if visiting Medicine Hat skip the box food chains or Mall food court and try something unique to Medicine Hat. Plus it has loads of free and easy to navigate parking.

Very authentic Mexican cuisine! Tried one of each taco and they were very fresh and tasty. The salsa bar seems like it would have quite a selection, however most of the bowls were empty, and it was a bit disappointing. The prices were comparable to most other small restaurants, and the food quantities were appropriate for the price.

Real Mexican food, and real mexican flavour... was the first time we visit this place and I was so please, we had Enchiladas verdes (Amazing green salsa!!), Carne asada gringa, traditional breakfast, taco and chips, and coffe. Everything was super good, very good quality food at reasonable price. The place is very cosy, modern and clean. Staff super friendly. I highly recommend this place for everyone who wants to try for a REAL Mexican tacos.

Ordered some food from here, it was okay. The sand Diego fries didn't come with sour cream. I also ordered some beef tacos with rice. My order didnt come with any fork or spoon, nor did it come with napkins. I had to eat my rice with my bare hands. Probably wont order again.

Incredible food! You pay the same amount that you would at a fast food place, only the food is 10 times better and you don't leave hungry. I had the burrito discada. The portion was huge, the flavour was great, the service was incredible, the restaurant is neat and tidy and the bathroom was clean. I would absolutely recommend this place!

Visited for the first time on April 6. All five of us enjoyed sizeable meals and dined on churros for dessert. Worked out to about $13 per person -- great for Mexican. Also, definitely recommend trying out their salsa bar, especially the selections on the far right.

I've only tried the breakfast so far, some positive points; the coffee was really good, the special is a good deal if you're ok with tater tots instead of real hash browns (I'm not). I asked for jam for my toast, they just said no without further explanation. The homemade salsa was tasty but quite mild, even the hot variety. I plan on returning to experience their lunch/dinner options, but I'll pass on breakfast.

First time getting food here yesterday and it’s one of the best Mexican dishes I’ve had! :) I got the enchiladas with refried beans on the side. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned! The chicken in the enchilada was a little dry and didn’t have much taste. But the delicious green salsa on top defiantly helped with that, and the corn tortillas were soooo good. I loved pretty much all of it, even my little churro which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I will defiantly be ordering again. Thank you for the delicious food!

This place is a small hidden gem located in the North of Medicine Hat. Staff are happy and service is great. You are greeted in with a huge smile from a wonderful lady behind the counter. We stopped in to visit a friend on our way home and had a bite to eat. Highly recommend the enchiladas with chicken.

Personal, friendly service and tasty Mexican cuisine are a hard combination to beat. Tues.& Thurs. are Taco Days with 3 taco choices, paired with Taco soup makes this place a weekly stop for us. The restaurant may be small but that just adds to the charm. You don’t have to go often before the regulars are greeted by name and the numbers seem to be getting larger each week.

Ate there for the first time tonight and it was so good! Excellent friendly service, and the food was so tasty. We had the Enchiladas with rice and garingas with potato chips. Everything was very good and looked housemade which was awesome. We would have loved to see some more vegetables included and some pico de Gallo included in the hot sauce bar, but no complaints otherwise! The restaraunt is quaint, but tasteful - you order at the front and seat yourself. So glad to finally have unique authentic Mexican restaraunt in the Hat! We will be back again!

A really cute Mexican food eatery with a fun vibe. Kinda pricey but our family of 4 thought it was worth it! Small place ....huge portions! Authentic Mexican food and the friendly-est service imaginable! Thanks for a yummy supper! 100% recommend!

Best place in Medicine Hat for Mexican food. Service was beyond amazing, and it tasted delicious. My mom and I ordered some enchiladas and a couple of tacos which got a little cold since we ate the enchiladas first. So we asked if our tacos could be reheated and unfortunately that was not possible due to possible food contamination and we understood that just fine, so we ate them anyways. After a couple of minutes, the same server/cashier comes with two tacos (which we didn’t order) and apologizes once again. What an amazing gesture! Will definitely be back. (Also, I am not quite sure if there’s a way of tipping at the front but I would’ve loved to tip her because of her amazing service).

Food wasn't that great, it was pretty bland. The churros were good though! We just didn't enjoy our meals very much. The servers were very nice and friendly, however, it took forever to get our food.

Cool little layout, sit down and step up to order. Cool tables and lighting, ac plugs and usb plug ins at tables is a cool touch. Food prices are amazing. Food is quite good, the nice part is it is authentic, no msg or food enhancers from what we experienced, it is somewhat under spiced for my liking but for the mass' pretty mild on the spice. The nachos and salsa are free with meal, not real great as far as that goes, we expected better chips and salsa. Overall, nice little pad.

Quite literally the worse Mexican food I've ever had.. rice taste like it's from a box.. I got the enchiladas.. the chicken is plan with no flavor and the Salsa literally taste like the mashed green tomatoes.. no flavor where's the flavor?! Not worth the hype and definitely not authentic
