The place had great staff, and a clean atmosphere. Food was very disappointing. The salad bar wasn't great, and my baby potatoes left grit in my teeth from not being washed properly,and the bread on my today beef sandwich was just two slices of cheap sandwich bread.

Fake crab, fake bacon, fake hollandaise, boxed croutons, jarred dressings, etc. I think it's easier to name things that AREN'T fake in this place. Team that with ridiculous pricing and I'm seriously impressed this place is even in business. We need negative stars to reflect how bad this place actually is. What's more impressive is the number of 5 star reviews. Either these are paid shills or these people have never been to a real restaurant with real food.

The food was excellent. The restaurant was suitable for hosting a 15-person business dinner for our management from out of town. While the restaurant is clean and well kept, the decor does not appear to have been updated since the 1970s (nary a window to be found).

I wanted something simple and quick so went with the grilled chicken Caesar salad. That may have very well been the best Caesar dressing I have ever had. Try it, you won't regret! On a side note, the service was excellent as usual!

I ordered the steak and lobster, it was $53 including salad bar. Lobster was overboiled and was rubbery. My steak I was assured by the waitress would be a medium rare as I always ask for a rare because by the time it gets to the table it is a medium rare as it should. When I received mine however it was more like a medium to a medium well. Not very happy, I have had better meals at the pub for $10. I was quite upset about paying $120+ for 2 people for such a mediocre meal I had to call the manager and at least let him know. The manager was very rude and kept blaming me for not sending my order back, well how so when the waitress didnt come back 20 mins later when I was already ready to leave. Such a disgrace this place used to be a high end establishment but after this I don't think I will ever return.

First time going in a few years. With that said, the food was awesome, may have even been better than I remembered. I had the prime rib and my wife had the steak and shrimp. Our meats were cooked perfectly in both cases. We both stuffed potato as our side and they were delightfully soft and full of flavor. The soup and salad bar was also fresh and delicious. Our waitress was quite attentive and the atmosphere inside was pleasant and inviting.

Went to Beefeater last Saturday evening a party of 7. I have eaten in the restaurant on & off since it first opened, it is not the same as when Nick ran the operation. I ordered a $41.00 Filet Migon, we waited over an hour for the meals to arrive! To be honest it was the worst filet I have ever had, I doubt it was a filet, I have never seen one with fat & grissle. I have had a better $9.95 Steak Sandwich. I didn't say anything at the time because I was with my children & didn't want to make a scene. Be a long time before I visit again. Sorry but that's the way it is!!!

My family has been going to this restaurant for at least 40 years, I couldn't even begin to count the number of birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions we've celebrated there, and I can't say I've ever had a bad meal there. Steak and prime rib are always perfect, generous portions and extremely friendly service. It's an old school steak house that you can always count on for a perfect meal.

Not pleased at all of this restaurant. First of all it took way over an hour to get our food. When we first sat down which was before 5pm there were only two other tables seated. I ordered a second glass of wine which I waited 14 mins exact. Finally when we got our food the ribs were so bad, my mother n law who are 2 ribs and she ordered a full rack for $32 and my step daughter ordered the same thing which she ate close to 3, reason being is because she was really hungry. When our waitress came and asked how the food was they told her about the ribs and so she asked if they would like something else. They told her No because it would take another hour or so to just get that, they told her she could take the plates back that they did not want them. When I asked for receipt it took 20 mins till we finally got up and waited for her at the front. When I saw that she didn’t take the ribs off the lady at the front was so rude it was disgusting. She even said our waitress told her everything was fine. Luckily my mother n law heard that and said no she lied to you. Never again will they get our business or anyone we know.

Overpriced and overrated. I got a16 ounce t bone for 35 dollars. I ordered it medium rare and it came almost well done. The meat was charred and rubbery, a shameful way to serve alberta beef. The mashed potatoes were chunky and undercooked as well as drowned in gravy. The vegetables were out of a frozen vegetable bag. My plate did not lookappetizing at all. Looked like things were just thrown together on the plate. All in all I would not recommend it. We went with a group of 6 people and everyone was disappointed. My friends steak was so over cooked it was hard to cut through. The atmosphere is shady at best. I would go to the keg for those prices and eat like a king. Very disappointed and not going there anymore. Go to montanas and you will enjoy a better meal.

Steak was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. It was very good. The veggies on the other hand were very bland. The salad bar was not very exciting and hasn't been changed since I was there about 25 years ago. Garlic toast looked like regular toast although slightly thicker but it was a bit overcooked. The room is brighter and more updated but attention to detail in the food (other than the steak) is missing and no where as classy as this place once was, although their prices still suggest they are high end. Service was great and staff was friendly.

I had not been to the Beefeater in 10 years. I must say it has improved from my last experience . I ordered the veal cutlets and did appreciate that they where real cutlets not just chopped reformed meat. The roast baby potatoes were very good as were the mixed vegetables. My wife had the NY Stip med rare and it was cooked correctly. The only thing I find odd is they present as a high end steakhouse but they have a salad bar. I appreciate the extra food but somehow I felt like I was at a Bonanza. Overall we had a pleasant dinning experience.

Honestly , I love going to the Beefeater just because they always have French Onion Soup at the Salad Bar and that is one of my favorite soups! Usually I order Prime Rib when eating here since I haven't found another restaurant that prepares it as well in Medicine Hat in my own opinion. Pricing is comparable to every other "Steak House" I've been to. The only reason I give Beefeater a 4/5 is because I feel the sides could be a bit more generous (Roasted Baby Potatoes...which are delicious). The Waitresses are very friendly and helpful when inquiring about a menu item. Watching the Chef cook Meat on the "Glass Enclosed" Open Fire Grill helps add to the relaxing/chill ambiance of the Dining Room. When in Medicine Hat, The Beefeater is definitely worth checking out! ????

I've been here several times for several purposes... Business, family, romance... I've thoroughly enjoyed it on every occasion. Very high quality meat, and extensive salad bar. The bartenders know good drinks which is great as it's the only place in the Hat where I've been able to order something more complex than a B-52. Good service, and good price for what you get! (GET THE PRIME RIB lol)

Really excellent place for steak. Avoid seafood. They have a lovely atmosphere and a ridiculously large selection of alcoholic drinks. Great place for a romantic date, business dinner. Fancy though. Wear a tie. Excellent cheesecake.

The ambience is nice. The salad bar wasn't bad. The onion soup was tasty. I ordered a rare fillet mignon on a beef Neptune. It was tasty but well done. I sent it back and it came back medium well. I didn't complain further because I was quite hungry by this point, but was disappointed by the experience. I expected more from this steak house. I sent my food back once and it still didn't come back right. The others in my party had overcooked fillet mignions as well, tasty, but not as they ordered.

This restaurant cooks consistently amazing steaks! Every time I visit the Medicine-Hat area, I look forward to a meal at the Beefeater. We enjoyed steak and lobster, steak and shrimp and the beef Neptune. Although this restaurant no longer has their generous salad bar, you can still choose between salad, and usually two different soups. Every time we’ve been there, French onion was one of the soups available. Last night was clam chowder, and that soup was delicious. Combine Great food with warm and friendly service and you have a good dining experience.

Not a great experience. We were seated quickly with dinner menus but had to ask for a wine list. Waitress disappeared for 5 minutes and then finally came back and took our drink and meal order. King cut prime rib for hubby and peppercorn NY for myself. Both ordered medium rare. Prime rib was closer for to rare and the steak was blue rare. Sent the steak back and could hear the kitchen staff insisting it was med rare and I didn't know what I was talking about. Steak came back charred medium. Both meals were stringy and lacked flavour. Salad bar was small but included. Server wasn't very attentive. Dinner for 2 with 1 glass of wine each 100$. Not worth it. We wouldn't recommend it or return.

It has been a long while. The drinks were good, know the price. We enjoyed steak of course, the full T-bone was amazing! The veg was great and I did baby potatoes. And a house salad with Italian was fantastic. So I have to say it's been a long time and this was a Saturday. It was a. Great meal out. The one missing star is price. It's local though so it's acceptable as well.

The Beefeater was always my favourite! However...the last two times I went (within a month) I was so disappointed. First time I asked for Filet Mignon (always my fav). It came back well done after I asked for medium. It was sent back with the deepest apologies, however, this time I asked for medium rare...it came back ‘medium’ the way I like to eat steak. I looked at the steak and said to my husband, “ this isn’t filet”. It wasn’t the nice thick filet Mignon that I had always ordered...it was a flatter piece of meat that wasn’t very tender. I also ordered a stuffed potato. All this was was mashed potato and put back into the skin with a hard top. I chalked it up to the cook having a bad day. The next time I went was with friends from Seattle. This time I thought I’d try the prime rib...can’t go wrong with that! Best prime rib ever! Not! It was also chewy with a lot of grizzle in it. My friend was ordering the stuffed potato and I told her to get the baby red potatoes instead. Very disappointed! What happened? New cook? I am so sad to say, we will not be returning to the Beefeater. I gave this restaurant two stars because of the staff only.

The Beefeater has been a family favorite for special events for over a decade, however, in recent years we have been going less and less and now I am unsure if we will be going back. It mainly comes down to the food. The Beefeater has been around for quite some time, and in the decade we have been going there, the food hasn't changed one bit. Now this isn't necessarily bad, but the food now is very dated. The veggies you get with a steak meal are bland and uninspired lacking any thought or creativity, and the stuffed potato is in the same. The steak is decent, however it lacks any resemblance of seasoning, the only saving grace is the nice grill flavor you get from their broiler. I think the best way to summarize the food is it feels like your grandmothers cooking, which isn't the worst, however I would never pay 40$ for my grandmothers food. The only reason myself, and potentially others as well, keep going back is simply for the nostalgia. We've been going here for years and it use to be our special place. However as of recently there are simply better places to go in town. Many other restaurants have modernized their menus over the past few years and simply offer better constructed meals that do not have a 40$+ price point. While I hate to draw comparison, if you are looking for a 40$+ meal, The Keg is simply a better alternative. There is still hope for the Beefeater, their steak is definitely unique and that is a saving grace, but they really need to take a look at the rest of their menu and add some character to make myself, my family, and others turn.

Asked for rare to medium rare prime rib...well done was served. The menu clearly says no refills on soda, but coffee and tea were separate, when we asked the server about it she said only coffee is refilled. Won't be going there again.

This meal was not very good I ordered a medium prime rib it was perfect but came out cool. Waitress took it back and brought me a new dish but this time it was hot but more on the rare side. Waitress didn't even ask how my meal was the second time. What takes us back is the French Onion soup on the salad bar. We probably won't go back for awhile.

This family owned steak house has been a staple in the Medicine Hat community for decades. The owner (Nick) shows pride of ownership through the patrons' entire experience every single time. I can't count how many visits I have made here through 4 decades, but it's quite significant. All of that said, every single time I visited this fine restaurant I was served excellent food by friendly staff. Further to that, in my opinion it has the finest salad bar I have ever experienced, and I have been to many. I highly recommend this world class steak house.

Enjoy coming here for lunch, and the salad bar is a huge hit. The peppercorn steak is not how most restaurants prepare it but kudos to them for making it their own, although I was not a fan. Will continue to return for lunch and dinner.

An incredible experience overall. It was a well crafted setting, fantastic service and the food was top notch. I would definitely recommend the Beefeater for a special occasion. I can definitely see myself coming back for a holiday or birthday.

I absolutely love the beefeater! I attend there on a regular basis! I always order the steak and lobster, with my steak as rare as possible!! I am very very picky about my steak and it is ALWAYS cooked right the way I like it!! Awesome job!

The steak was fantastic! The staff was friendly! But to me the salads were too bland. Referring to cucumber salad and the macaroni salad. The soup was pretty good too! I'm not a seafood guy. But my granny got the lobster and said it was fantastic!

Overpriced, overrated!! Very Dissapointed! The ribs were very dry. The beef tasted awful. The only thing compensate for this was the broth, pinacalda and the customer service and the ambiance.

Unsure why there are so many 5 star reviews. I have ate here on numerous occasions and every time I am letdown. The prices are very inflated on a bland salad bar and over cooked steaks

This restaurant is a little on the pricier side but their food is amazing. They have delicious steaks cooked to perfection and an unlimited soup and salad bar! Their service is always top notch and I love how they take your coat when you're seated, so that you don't have to worry about where to put it. I highly recommend the Beefeater for any date nights or special occasions!

The staff are really hit and miss here. I’ve had some staff who just don’t either know enough about their food items or just almost make you feel dumb for asking questions about it. They charge a lot of money and in reality, the food doesn’t justify the price. It’s good, but not so good you can justify it to yourself. It tastes good, but portions need to be bigger for the amount you pay.

Very disappointed with the food and service. Took over an hour to get our food. When it arrived it wasn't very good. Suggest going to the Keg instead.
