The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The waitress really knew the menu and had great insight. It was a group of about 13 of us. For appetizers, we had the Lobster Dip and Chips, the Bacon Wrapped Steak Ends, the Scallops and Bacon, and the Coconut Shrimp. For the entree, I ordered the 10oz Sirloin (pictured). It was all very good; great presentation.

We went to Rustic this past weekend for a joint b-day. The seafood linguine was fantastic! Must try. It was a great atmosphere however was fairly disappointing that a.) We asked if we got anything for our b day? Maybe even just a free drink or a dessert to share with my girlfriend and our waitress just said she would have to ask her manager and just sluffed it off and never did and made it feel like it was a tone of work 2.) Secondly, being changed mandatory 15% tip on a group of 7 that does not meet the 8 people tip minimum was quiet tacky in my opinion. I don't' think this reflects on the management or establishment but the waitresses poor customer service decisions. Still an amazing place to eat.

Amazing meal! Fast service and my chicken spatzle was phenomenal. The homemade dessert was the largest dessert serving ever but oh so so so good! Highly recommend this restaurant and will be on my list of where to eat in Medicine Hat!

Been here 5 times in 3 years. 3 times, the order for steak was not cooked close to requested doneness in fact rare for a medium and once for myself, well done when I requested medium rare. My spouse is Gluten and Celiac, and despite pre warning the server of her serious reaction to possible cross contamination and the servers re-assurances they would do the best they could for her, twice she was ill within minutes of injestion of her entree. For the pricing and the "so, so" entrees, a visit to the Keg visit would be a better recommendation all around.

Everything we had was amazing! I'd highly recommend them for any meal. The chicken, pasta, elk, steak and desserts were all to die for. If you order the chicken, be forewarned it's half a chicken. It makes it great for leftovers and its a ton of food. You could also split it easily with an appie or extra side. The atmosphere is lovely and fits the name too. Staff was friendly and accommodated a surprise wedding party for our feast. We will definitely be back!

The tables are set up in a jumbled, randomized order and it throws off the whole vibe. It feels more semi formal (like if Earls tried to go ritzy or something lol) there was definitely more older crowds at lunch (50+) I did not go to the bar side. Food is AMAZING, you definitely get what you pay for. Compliments to the Chef & Sous. Staff seem awesome, very kind and accommodating.

The biggest travesty was when the server failed to light our table candle, ruining the romantic evening I planned to have with my colleague. First time at Rustic. Three of us ordered the tenderloin; all 3 steaks were perfectly done to our specific liking ! The fresh vegetables were excellent... a real variety and a generous amount!... the server was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly-she really made the experience top notch, as she kept our wine glasses replenished, while giving us time to visit. The atmosphere is pure Alberta! We will be back!!

If it was possible to give no star or a negative one we would the restaurant was one of those ones that all noise echoes in it my wife and I both got Caesar salads hers was a meal size with chicken she said the chicken tasted like the grill and was almost oily from the grill and kind of dry mine was the small neither one had any flavour to them or croutons if there was any they were small crumbs I also had the Nova Scotia bacon wrapped scallops one they weren’t wrapped in the bacon but sitting on top of the bacon two they weren’t large scallops like the menu said they were almost a small medium size or one large one cut into three pieces because that is all you got on the plate three they didn’t taste like scallops they tasted like the grill and were dry and one had a piece of hamburger I know my scallops on itI’m from Nova Scotia the water had a weird taste to it and we left feeling hungry and extremely dissatisfied with the meal and ripped off the meal costed fifty dollars chicken Caesar 19 three scallops 16 small Caesar 7 plus two pops should have gone to bp or a&w or McDonald’s for a better meal

Very classy restaurant serving a wide array of regional cuisine, savory flavors and unique dishes. The menu offered the standard restaurant basics such as dry garlic ribs, cheese burgers, and salt and pepper wings. But the more advanced pallet may enjoy the appetizer we ordered which was Scallops and Bacon - pan seared large scallops stacked on top of spinach and thick sliced maple bacon. The plate came to the table with only 3 scallops/bacon for $16, but we needed to slice them into smaller portions, and then enjoyed each bite. Our main courses were amazing in the context of not only flavor, but portion size and presentation. The house special was grilled salmon served over wild mushroom, asparagus and shrimp risotto, topped with fresh sprouts. My husband attempted to finish his meal - the North Folk Ranch Elk Ribeye: Seared Elk Ribeye, Elk Wild and Brown Rice Cabbage Roll, hand made Aged White Cheddar Perogies, surrounded by a Saskatoon Berry and Port Reduction; but some managed to come home with us. The elk was superbly cooked and each bite was mouth wateringly tender. The services was outstanding,our waitress was professional yet personable. The decor appeared to be recently updated, providing a cozy romantic atmosphere. The only suggestion is the washrooms be relocated to the main floor and updated. Presently they are located in the basement with two flights of stairs. Overall I would recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or an intimate dinner.

We had a special family meal here on Tuesday Sept. 3rd. My aunt recommended this restaurant and so we arrived early before everyone arrived and we settled in on the terrace in the corner on the sofa. We had drinks, nice original beers ???? and cocktails ???? The ambiance was great and we had such a wonderful time - we had the Elk plate, the Lamb, the fresh fish which was Haddock and the corn chowder, along with some other things and dessert was the banana cream pie ???? ???? ; everything was fresh and so original and tasty ???? meal fit for Kings ????

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! They were very accommodating and allowed my pup on the patio. The server was excellent and made the special sound amazing and it was!!! Love it here on a summer night. The complimentary fresh bread with oil and balsamic vinegar was a nice touch as well. My boyfriend got the breaded chicken sandwich and said it was also delicious. Highly recommend this place and will be going again next time we are back in Medicine Hat.

Unlike others, I found the food and service at this restaurant rather sub-standard. The foid was described as being fresh, but the plate I was served was anything but. When I expressed my disappointment with the meal, the server wasn't interested in ensuring I had a positive experience, but seemed more concerned about restaurant policies. We arrived at around 8:30 on Saturday night for a bite to eat after the Jeff Dunham show at the Canalta Center. We were able to get a seat in the bar right away. Our waitress had a lot of customers enter all at once so she was a little slammed. My date ordered the Lobster Ravioli, but sadly they had already run out. She settled on the Seafood Linguine and I ordered the Cheeseburger with Fries. The linguine was good, but did not come with any bread (they had also run out of this it seems) or soup or salad. For $ 28 this should have come with a side. A single serving of linguine is not worth $28. My Cheeseburger came well seasoned, albeit far closer to well done than medium. Fries were very nicely seasoned, crispy, and the side order of aeoli made for a nice dipping sauce for the fries. $14 for this Cheeseburger would be on point if the fry portion wasn't the size of a McDonald's small fries. I will bring my date back to the Rustic Kitchen just so she can get her Lobster Ravioli. Overall, impression was good, but needs improvement. If management know there is a show in town on a particular night, they should be prepared to handle a crowd coming into the restaurant right after and plan accordingly.

Wow. Really really good food and service. Ate way too much. Ambiance was really nice, though sound reverberates pretty good. I ordered the French onion soup, elk ragout pappardelle, and a glass of Canadian wine. The soup was amazing!! The broth was super flavorful, onions were cooked down like they should be, and plenty of cheese. Oh, and came really hot. The soup was nearly a meal itself, in a larger than normal bowl than I'm used too. The pappardelle was rich and filling. Plenty of meat, a little more sour cream would have been nice. Noodles we're really good, and way wider than I see typical with pappardelle. A great place to visit. Not inexpensive, but worth it.

While visiting a friend in Medicine Hat for the first time I asked some of the local.vendors on where to eat the rustic came up on both occasions. I made a reservation for.friday night and arrived hoping for the best. I was not disappointed We started with the Maple pork belly scallops and had the braised shorts ribs as our main. Everything down to the roasted beet and carrot vegetable was top notch. I have worked as an executive.chef for 15 years and honestly did not have high expectations for supper. The food surroundings and staff were great definitely A.must for anyone traveling through Medicine Hat. The missing 5 star review is only missing because I still.look forward to trying the rest of the menu.

Service and serving edequite was terrible for an alleged higher class restaurant. We waited an hour to order and another hour to get our meals that seemed to just be thrown on the plate and lacked flavour, plus the 2 steaks were cooked wrong. One of our favourite places to stop when we come to town. Food is delicious and service is always welcoming and friendly. We like to sit in the lounge and find it very relaxing. My buddy and I arrived at Rustic just before the kitchen closed. We were driving from Lethbridge to Medicine Hat after playing golf in Lethbridge earlier that day and I told my buddy to make sure he had a good appetite as he would be pleasantly surprised by the restaurant in the parking lot of our hotel. As mentioned, we just made it in time to order and sat outside on their patio in the warm summer evening with patio lights and music in the background. He ordered the rib dinner and I the seafood pasta. As they delivered them to our table, we looked at each others order with envy but knowing how good our own order looked. The pasta was heaven and my buddies ribs were the same. With a little wine to accompany our dinner, we were absolutely stuffed and completely satisfied. The staff was excellent as was the service and food. My friend said he'd definitely be back next time he was in town. I've ate at Rustic a handful of times before this and have always had the same exact experience. I am more than happy to recommend anyone thats in town for business or someone local having a date night that this is one of Medicine Hat's most exceptional restaurants and I should know as I am in town for business quite often and have tried most of the cities restaurants.

Probably the best restaurant in the city. Excellent chef. Every time I have gone there the meal has been 5 stars. I cant give you a favorite dish off the menu but we had the pecan crusted pickerel last night and it was excellent. All dishes are a big serving size especially the desserts, so go hungry. Also, excellent serving staff.

After a 10 hr travel day, headed from WPG to BC - my BF & I made a overnight stop in Medicine Hat, choosing to dine at Rustic Kitchen & Bar. We are SO GLAD we did! After first browsing the menu online, we initially felt like we were underdressed, but wanted to try the food so bad that we went anyways. Not only was the in house prepared food 10 star quality, but also our server Jeremy “JJ” was extremely friendly & personable, not skipping beat when it came to updating us on our order status & keeping our drinks full! To top it all off, it was recommended that we try Sally’s famous butter tarts & since the food was SO GOOD - naturally we had to try…. & we were BLOWN AWAY!! Thank you so much Rustic Kitchen for the AMAZING food & also to JJ for making our dining experience one to remember!!

Once again Rustic Kitchen impressed me. If you are looking for great service, tremendous plating, food that will tantalize the taste buds this is the restaurant for you. I love the decore, very unique and all the staff are excellent. Some word of advice, save room for desert. I recommend the creme brulee. You get what you pay for if Excellent Food is what you are looking for.

My wife and I were travelling through Medicine Hat on vacation. We were staying at the hotel next door so we thought we’d check Rustic Kitchen out. Patio was busy but the inside bar and restaurant were pretty much empty. No hostess but 3 waitresses, 1 bartender and a manager on staff. We stood at the front door as the manager and the waitresses passed by us a few times. I said to one of the waitresses that we’d like to place an order of two chicken burgers to go. She replied with, I’ll ask the cook if he’s doing take out orders....what? She came back to say the cook said no. I said we could come back in an hour. She went back to ask the cook if he could accommodate that request. She came back saying it could be done in 90 minutes lol. I said we’ll just go somewhere else. No organization and the staff they have is lost!

You are probably safe with Beer or Wine, bar drinks were less than adequate. Sent 2 cocktails back and when the "margarita" finally came on ice took one sip and left it on the end of the table. The waitress and bartender/owner? walked by enough times and did not even ask. We were here Saturday night, made reservation for 4 people. It was not busy when we arrived but a wedding party had arrived after we ordered. My mom and i ordered a pasta dish after salads and appetizer to share and waitress did not bring extra dish or even ask when she saw us both eating out of same dish. Non attentive staff. I asked if it was because they were short staff or recently just open since Covid, she said no, so unsure if there is just lack of training or lack of care or both. No attempt to accommodate for any of the inconvenience of the drinks or shortfall in service. If you know you have a wedding party reserved your other guests should not be less attended to. Food was good, so we will attempt another visit in future for this local business.

Amazing food and service. Chef Orchard is a master of his craft and Sandee always makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is the nicest Medicine Hat has to offer! Rustic, romantic, beautiful... Highly highly recommend!

Service is usually good but this is the second time in a row they have run out of bread. They also ran out of mashed potatoes this time. Also the downstairs stinks and the bathroom really needs an upgrade.

We shared the chicken wings, the asparagus and the lobster dip. All three were very tasty and the service was great. Not intrusive but there if needed. I would definitely go back when in Medicine Hat.

This is our first time to Medicine Hat. We came to the Rustic Kitchen, sat outside very nice. Other customers came in after us they had food on the table before we had our appetizer, our server was slow and confused . Over all its a friendly place great food but quite slow. It has a poor beer selection for a local restaurant you would think they would serve local beers.
