REVIEWS OF Santa Ana Pizzeria & Bistro IN Manitoba

Maureen Brandt

Extremely overrated and below average. Comparable to any chain pizza quality. The same taste-less, blanket-thick kind of pizza you buy from Domino's, Hotline, Cesar's or Pizza Pizza. There are better options it town for sure.

Adam W

Wood fired pizzas are great and hard to come by in the city. I wish the crust at the center of the pizza was crispy like the outer edges but it's never stopped me from ordering them as they are still great pizzas with fresh ingredients.

Elle Ash

I’ve always heard this place was the best place for pizza. It’s always booked solid, however, it’s a tiny restaurant, so I can see why they are always full. The pizza was OKAY. Good crust, great choices and lots of toppings on the pre selected ones. 11” wood fired $18 or 15” $29 stone baked. Definitely had better pizza elsewhere. They have pizza, selection of pasta and salad. All their appetizers are $13 and a good selection. I was really excited to have the crispy deep fried artichokes, but they are pickled deep fried and it wasn’t that great. Service was good.

Lapis Loaf

Great pizza. Generous amount of cheese :)

Matthew Nordick

Friendly staff. I enjoyed the crust and it was baked perfectly. No flop when you pick up a slice. Good crunch, and chew in the crust. I personally am not a fan of their sweet pizza sauce. I also assumed the cheese lovers was based on the different types of cheese, but they also load the toppings on thick. Appealing for some, understandably. I love cheese, but it was just too much for me. The ratio of toppings to crust was not ideal.

If you're looking for the best pizza in winnipeg, you have come to the right place. It's a nice small restaurant that's great for bringing and relatives to. They made the best tasting pizza I have ever had in my life, and my family agrees.

Mikel Magnusson

Excellent pizza, great dining experience and very well priced wine list.

Kay Kay

There is a reason their is always a wait to get into Santa Ana pizzeria and bistro. I had the pizza while my two colleagues had pasta and not only were the portions huge, the taste was beyond amazing! I could honestly eat here everyday. Our waitress was amazing and came before we needed refills for drinks and made our experience even better. Great work Santa Ana, I will be back!

Rena Mathieson

Tried to make reservations a second time and again we were told that they weren’t sure if they had an opening or not , wanted us to call back 45 minutes before our desired dining time I would be look for the lady who answered the phone to either day yes or no that there was an avail time or even explain to us that we would have to wait possibly because and explain the reason why The lady who takes the reservations can do better -poor Customer Service

Jie L

I ordered the Tropicana pizza through Skip the Dishes for my dinner with friends. The pizza arrived hot and looked appetizing. However, we found the pizza to be abnormally bland tasting. I am not sure if this was a one-off, but I would be willing to give this place another try sometime in the foreseeable future!

Warren Coodin

Soggy pizza overrun with toppings, some pieces were wet from way too many mushrooms. Pizza Hotline is better. Do yourself a favor don't spend the cash on this horrible pizza.

C&J Calvert

Amazing food! Breadsticks and artichokes are so good. Pizza & pasta soooo good and big portions! House wine so good and not pricey!

Val Fryza

Waitress was amazing, the food was actually pretty unbelievable. Best bread sticks! Amazing pizza. Awesome place.

Megan Funk

Such delicious pizza! During the COVID-19 pandemic we ordered from Santa Ana for pick-up. The employees were incredibly friendly and accommodating during such a crazy time in the world and the food was delicious!

Alex McMillan

My first time ordering from Santa Ana Pizzeria, I will definitely order again and recommend this restaurant

Jenna Einarson

We had a really great dinner at Santa Ana's. The starters were delicious but beware, too big for starters! Shrimps, bruschetta and Napoletano sausage one better than the other. Pizzas, five cheese and pesto, were baked to perfection with fresh ingredients and a fine thin crust dough. The staff was polite, accommodating and attentive. It's a small place so it is better to call for a reservation as it it pretty full most of the days. Thank you for the great time we had, we will return.

robin hazlett

Top noch service and food. Cannot express how tasty and fresh our meal was. Service..... 1-10 mmmm had to be 12, friendly, not intrusive, knowledgeable, easy conversation, and did we mention friendly.? We will be back after Christmas.

Brett Allard

The pizza is still the 'Go-to' item here but the food is absolutely amazing in general. The Gluten free and cauliflower crust options are superb! Interpersonal Service is something that gets overlooked and I'm happy to say the staff does exactly that! 5th edit review because they deserve it!

Bonnie Mykolshyn

Ordered 2 of 11" wood fired pizzas. First half/half pizza: Philadelphia * Piccante and 2nd pizza, 1/2: tropicana * California Save 6.00 on take out when ordering 2 of 11" pizzas or $10 on the 18". Wine is one of the best prices per bottle and you can cork and take leftovers home. Busy small place. Definitely need to reserve ahead of time, one or 3 weeks in advance for optimal dining time.

Tom Sawatzky

Ordered a large lasagna today for a pot luck, exceptional service and the lasagna was so tasty and delicious! It was a hit with everyone, will definitely order from here again!

Alie Desrosiers

Visiting my two cousins and they ordered from this place as they said it's amazing. Asked that I pick, looked at their menu online and decided on their Philadelphia Pizza; wood fired steak, mushroom, onion, garlic, cheddar & Pesto Pizza; chicken breast, roasted red pepper, asiago, basil pesto. We picked them up ourselves so as to make sure that the profit goes only to the restaurant and not to a delivery service. They looked amazing! The crust was crisp and chewy. They do not shy away on toppings, each piece was a meal. Soo hearty, flavorful and downright delicious! Going to visit my cousins again before new years and hope order from them again while in town.

Brett Kowalchuk

Best pizza I have ever had! I have always been a VERY satisfied customer. If I could rate it 6 out of 5 stars, I would!

Donna Mahdi

Definitely will be going here again! Deluxe pizza was delicious and the bottom of the crust was still crispy when I got home!!! The lasagna is also delicious, meaty and lots of cheese!! Great prices too!

Matt Freeman

Cannot talk or review too busy eating their pizza! Yummy yummy yummy...omm nom...Honestly it's probably some of the best pizza in the city.

Dan Law

Often order pizza for take out. Food is great. If dining in you'll need to make reservations well in advance because its that good and popular.

Crystal Strelczik

Excellent service and pizza. Had 4 different pizzas amongst the group and they were all fabulous

Marc Fouillard

Best pizza in town. Great service. Reasonable prices.

FASTEDDY Skil

That's the pizza I've been looking for, for many years. Very tasty, fresh ingedients, excellent crust, crunchy salad and a great bottle of wine. I'll be back!

Dimitris Protsios

Outstanding yet again, ok seriously this place has the best pizza in town.

Roy Sommerfield

Best pizza in the Peg!! They squeezed us in (we didn't have reservations). The crust was perfect and the cheese...gooey!

Jefferson Freelance

If your looking for a pizza that will fill you up on the second of third piece then you have found the right place. I work close by and have ordered here a few times and each time it has not disappointed. Don’t let the price deter you, it’s worth the extra $ spent.

Max Torque

The sit-down restaurant is very small—on average you need to make reservations at least three or four months in advance, so we opt for take-out. The wood-fired pizzas are absolutely delightful! Each pizza features traditional Italian meats and cheeses. The asparagus and sun-dried tomato salad with spring mix is delish! The pasta dishes are all excellent as well.

Peter Wong

Always happy with the delicious food (never had a bad meal there yet!) and very friendly staff! Highly recommended! Can’t wait to “dine in” again!!!

Shireen Paull

By far best pasta and pizza in Winnipeg.

Jennifer Fisher

We ordered a curb side delivery for 4 pizzas March 23 (nothing like some leftovers for the rest of the week). Very convenient, delicious and they were very grateful for the business. Support local so they can be around for our enjoyment when things return to normal.

Exceptional food. The pastas are amazing and huge! Haven't tried the pizza yet but have only heard great things.

BEST WOOD STYLE PIZZA IN THE CITY. the one super down fall is how busy it gets. reso are made in months advance if you want to go on a weekend but week days are not too bad. You can do take out so it helps if you want to eat at home.

Robert Jones

Incredible food and experience. Was looking for a special meal for 2021 Mother's Day. Italian on the brain I chose this location. I got two medium pizzas and a pasta ordered over the phone for pick up. I arrived early and looked over the wines and was helped by a very friendly waitress. I ended up being just on time for very fresh and VERY delicious food! I nearly didn't make it home without stopping to eat my food in the car! My wife and I loved the food and the wine and I will absolutely be coming back here again in the future once we can stop and eat inside! Thanks for the great experience.

Maryna Horyun

Great pizza, fresh ingredients, love the cheese. Only issue I had is that they going for a "dark, somewhat intimate" look with the very dark paint and in turn windows were completely blacked out. I love natural light, would've been nice but alas just a preference, did not impact my experience at all.

Martin Cloutier

Dining room IS small and loud but great atmosphere, didn't affect our experience at all...wonderful staff and VERY good prices for this quality of food and service (generous portions)

Vero W

By far my favorite place to get pizza in Winnipeg Not only they taste amazing, but the waiting staff and cooks are always very friendly

Daniel Bielak

So many great things to describe Santa Ana. Pizza is honest, real and satisfying. Service, friendly and accommodating and great valuefor your money. This is why you need a reservation weeks in advance. Great job Santa Ana!

Kristopher Driver

After calling half a dozen bakeries and pizzerias for fresh dough I got not only some great value dough where no others had, but the staff were immensely friendly and helpful too. Perfect little joint for every foodie's rolladex. Oh, the dough makes savagely decadent breadsticks too ;p

Jen E

I’ve been living under a rock and finally discovered Santa Ana. I’ve heard rave reviews from friends and finally made a reservation; highly recommended or you may be denied at the door. Small restaurant, nice and quaint. High quality pizza, wood fired pizza & pastas, with 15, 20, 25 bottles of wine!!! Service was fantastic as well as the food. I ❤️ pizza and this ranks in my #1 along with Bonfire Bistro.

Dustin Welsh

I have a difficult allergy and our waitress and the kitchen went above and beyond all my expectations. The food was amazing and very large portions. The wine list is impressive and super reasonable in price. Call far in advance for reservations so you won't be dissapointed. The wait to get in is usually weeks long.

Paul Silverman

Had the Margherita pizza and it was amazing, delicious crust and very filling. Great service and nice atmosphere as well.

Sophia

First time ordering from Santa Anna Pizzeria yesterday let's just say they exceeded all expectations. I ordered a 15" Deluxe for the family and a caesar salad. Everyone loved it! It was fresh, hot, delicious, and overflowing with toppings! We will be back! I hope one day to be able to eat in their little restaurant. I have been trying for years now but every time I call though they are booked solid. At least now I know why!! It won't so me from trying though. ❤️

000SaviourXXX

Everything was cooked to perfection. They are so busy I had to book a month in advance for my wife and I to get in for our anniversary. However it was amazing and we enjoyed the food. It came out hot from the oven and very tasty.

Chris Hughes

Great pizza and the lowest markup on wine in Winnipeg! Worth the wait (weekend reservations are often more than 3 months out)!

Joanne Anderson

Never disappoints. Always great portions. Food is very fresh. Staff is outstanding, always welcomes you with a smile.

Cory Rutter

Pizza is great, service is even better! Definitely would buy again.

Pavel Shumarov

Amazing pizza. Perhaps, the best pizza in town.

Matt Silva

After reading nothing but positive reviews about Santa Ana's pizza I finally gave it a try. What an utter disappointment. Judging by the photos posted by other reviewers I'll concede that it must have been an off night for the cooks when I ordered. But I certainly did not enjoy eating around a crust that was so burnt it blackened my fingertips. When I think of the best wood-fired pizza I've had (locally, Red Ember comes to mind), I think of everything Santa Ana is not: a thin crust with a crisp-yet-pillowy perimeter and a balance between the sauce and toppings that allows the pizza to be cooked very quickly - this is what distinguishes wood-fired pizza from pizza cooked on a pan in an oven. Santa Ana's pizzs are so heavy on the toppings that they require a much longer cooking time, apparently so long that the crust burns by the time the middle of the pizza is cooked. I was surprised to see a diamond pattern embedded in the bottom of the crust - the pizzas are quite clearly baked on a pan. I had no sense whatsoever that I was eating a wood-fired pizza. I would not order from here again.

Shannon Richard

Wonderful atmosphere. Great service. Great to see all the ladies and gents working so hard and doing so well. I am recommending the Philadelphia pizza (with extra banana peppers) and the calamari to start. OMG. Stopping here again. Sooner than later I hope

Santa Ana Pizzeria & Bistro is a true gem of Winnipeg. Owners Derek and Debbie have created an atmosphere and dining experience that simply stand above the rest. It's no surprise that tables fill quickly and reservations are encouraged - the consistency in food quality and presentation (and of course the smiles) are what bring me back time and time again. I'm priveledged to live in this area and have such short distance access - but for those in others areas, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't make the trek out. There is no dish I've had a bad experience with. Some outstanding dishes include the Lasagna, Calabrese Al Forno pasta, Santa Ana Pizza (funky pizza ingredients - family and friends favorite!), and the Pane Fritto 'breadsticks'. Delicious - can't wait for the next visit. Thanks Santa Ana team!

Jason Bouchard

Super amazing pizza! The pulled pork with pineapple is so delicious! I have only ever had takeout but it is such great quality food!

Best pizza my friends and I ever had. Great wine choices and even though we didn't have a reservation (first time there) they managed to squeeze us in for a table of 4. Can't wait to go back

Aaron

Lots of toppings, overwhelm the thin crust. No chili oil for dipping. Great selection of pizza, huge portions, even the 11". Fried bread is fantastic and comes with a very nice marinara sauce.

Ellen Bae

Reservation recommended for dining room. Good pizzas and great selection of toppings including green olives and anchovies! Calm atmosphere though dark, nice place for a weekday date.

Ernie

Wish I could give you more than 5 stars! The most incredible Italian food in Winnipeg. The pizzas are unequaled anywhere. If you like pizza, this is THE place to go. My only problem with Santa Ana is that I love the pizza so much I never get the chance to sample their other dishes. However, people that I know that have gone there have only had positive comments. One of the best restaurants in Winnipeg. Please don't ever change a thing!

Roberta Palmer

Excellent food with even better service! Went there on a Tuesday with a reservation for 5 to celebrate a birthday. The table was promptly ready at our reservation time, the meals were perfect, the atmosphere was superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Ensure you have a reservation as I have found it near capacity both times I have been, and for good reason!!

Cecilia Davies

Turned away at 8:05 because they close at 9. Two cars in the parking lot, dining room didn't seem full and appeared to be plenty of staff. Weren't even offered to take-out instead and had person turn their back on us. Extremely disappointed in this treatment, especially as we had come in from out of town to try. If we hadn't missed the turn because it was our first time, maybe we would have been there 5 mins earlier and our experience would be different. Unfortunately we won't be back

Susanne Rivard

The pizza was amazing! Wood fired, crispy and real ingredients! Fresh and tasty! Great wine list with reasonable prices!

T M

I love this place. We were the only ones in the restaurant mid afternoon and they made us wait 2 hours for 1 pizza because an order for 50 pizzas came in while we were ordering. Have to admire the nerve to do that. Haven't been back since.

Meaghan Stoutenburg

Everyone was so polite, and our waitress was wonderful! We came a little early, but they still sat us. The food was 10/10 and the house wine matched perfectly with the meal

Kevin

We dropped by this restaurant the other night and were pleasantly surprised. Did not expect such good food in a small restaurant in the suburbs. Service was attentive and the pizza delicious!

Mitchell Farms

We ate at Santa Ana on Saturday and we were pleasantly surprised as well. A gem in that community! I can't say enough about the pizzeria & bistro. We will be back again. The three of us (my husband, my 14 yr old son and myself) shared the Tuscan Ravioli and the Deluxe Stone Baked Pizza. More than enough for the three of us. Delicious!!!????

Stuart S

Simply the best pizza in Wpg! High end toppings galore, never ever disappoints. Excellent value for the $ as well. Order early they're usually busy as they should be!

Derek Chiu

Stone baked Pizza was not as good as i thought, dough seemed generic premade restaurant supplied dough. Wasn't like Vera's or Carbone's. Cheese was not that flavorful but of course I've tried really good pizzas and thats what i am comparing this to. (Toronto's King Slice, Super Point, North of Brooklyn Pizzeria, Makers,...... i could go on and on....

Claire Stevenson

a friend told me to check out this place a few months ago, and I think I have been thanking her ever since. Every time I have the privilege to be able to escape to my cabin for the weekend I order a couple of their larger pizzas.. We get them half done ,pick them up around 11-12 and then finish them off when we get to the cabin. The first time they exceeded our expectations and they have been so delicious ever since! The Tropicana is our absolute favourite ! The staff is so helpful and friendly, today we walked in and added another pizza last minute and without hesitation they had it made and out to us so fast, I could not recommend this place enough! excited to try dining in one day!

Paul Comeault

Overall, best guten free pizza ever. They served a flat crust that could fool to think it's the real glutenous thing. Two reasons I consider this the best gluten free pizza: fistly, they are generous with their toppings (I always feel like restaurante skimp on the toppings for gluten free pizzas... and I'm typically dismayed when I watch my gluten-tolerant companions enjoy piles and piles of toppings while I have to imagine flavour and fulfilment). Secondly, all toppings except for 1 (pepperoni) were gluten free! The spiced ground beef was a great substitute for the pepperoni (not too spicey, as I am a spice wimp). I am either not celiac, or I am a high-threshold celiac. I had no digestive issues, but when I arrived, two other pizza boxes (probably not gluten-free) were piled on top of my pizzas...

Cheap wine, the ceasar salad was amazing with a hint of anchovy. The Tropicana Pizza is superb. Pulled pork, pineapple, jalapeños. Just an awesome dining experience. Just hard to get in.

Michele Schrader

Absolutely amazing pizza. Great atmosphere, very nice waitress. I ordered the meat lovers and who i went to dinner with had a pasta dish. Definitely will be going back to sit in and dine and will order pick up from there in the future. Great sized food portions.

I went here for the first time for my work Christmas party, and it was amazing! The best pizza I have ever had. The food was out of this world, and the waiting staff were so friendly. It has a really nice cozy vibe. I definitely recommend it!

Cecilia Ng

Ordered via skip. Came quick! I've tried this place a few times now. I love pizza but not a fan of this place. Dough is doughy and too soft for my liking which makes crust no fun to eat. Great variety of toppings though! I'm a sauce girl but wasn't a fan of their sauces. If you are a cheese fan you'll love this. They loaded it with cheese

Ann Nickol

Fantastic pizza! Drive across the city to pick it up every other week. And still VERY good even days after Highly recommend

B Scott

Best pizza in Winnipeg. added extra artishok and dried tomatoes on my vegetarian pizza with wild mushrooms

kayla

Great food and wine selection! Staff very helpful to recommend wines. Definitely recommend to reserve ahead of time. Tip: pizzas can be split for each half different type!

jamie topp

The pizza was great, the staff were friendly and helpful. Prices we in line with a good quality pizza place, we will be going back again. I didn't try any of the wines, but they had a wide selection. I expect I'll be trying some the next time we go.

Martin MacCool

WE have been getting pizza for take out the past few years, love the 4 Cheese probably my favourite pizza period. Last night had dine in, it was fantastic, the dining room has only been open for a couple of weeks so they were out of a few things but no problem. We had the two shrimp appetizers and couldn't decide which one was better, they were both great as was the Caesar Salad. All out entries were outstanding. One of the best Italian meals I've ever had.

Joel Smith

If you look at this place from the outside you might not enter but if you do enter you definitely won't regret it. I had dinner there and we were blown away by the quality of the food and by the service. My wife and mother in law shared a Tropicana Wood Fired pizza and I had Calabrese Al Forno pasta main dish. The pasta was very flavourful and a massive portion so I took half home for another dinner. We shared the homemade Tiramisu for dessert. The young server we had was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return to this restaurant!

Robert Watkins

A small very warm and ambient little restaurant off the beaten path. Reservations recommended but it was fairly quiet the evening we were there. Service couldn’t have been better. Our server was very personable and helpful. The large Santa Ana salad was a great way to begin. It was a good size, crisp and full of flavour. Loved the taste and texture of sun dried tomatoes and asparagus slices in the salad. Pizzas were both good although, personally I prefer a thinner crust. We tried the Piccante (but it wasn’t very spicy, we had to add chilies) and the Roman. Pizzas are filling so we had leftovers to take home. Prices very reasonable. Extensive wine list and the mark up was not over the top like at some restaurants! You can bring your own wine, but there is a $10 corkage fee.

Kelly Minucci

First time - the food and service were awesome. We will be back.

Johanne Absalom

Pizza is awesome. Service is second to none! Prices are beyond reasonable. Never a bad meal here!!! ????

Kevin Richmond

Have pretty much tried everything on the menu. This place is incredible, huge portions, fresh ingredients, and amazing staff

Donna Rutledge

Love it. Great food, service and great wine selection and prices. You NEED to book reservations there well ahead of time. They also cater
