This is a FANTASTIC spot. I live in the area and will pop in for lunch every so often and every single time the food is DELICIOUS. The food is clearly made with care and thought - portion sizes and prices are just right for a treat lunch. Everything is seasoned expertly and is flavourful and exciting. The decor is cheerful and has personality. Great desserts! No seating which is fine by me; Lamprai & Spice is one of my favourite spots in town to pick up lunch and eat in the park or on the public wharf. Highly recommend.

My family and I have been customers to Suni's cafe since she has opened. Her food is some of the best I have ever tasted-- flavourful, filling, and healthy. Lamprai and Spice cafe is one-of-a-kind to Lunenburg with no other Sri Lankan restaurant in the town. Her portion sizes and prices make the experience that much more worth it. Suni makes her food with passion and love and that is why she has so many customers flocking to get their hands on her quickly sold out food. She makes everyone feel welcome and special in her cafe. If you are looking for a feel-good experience while trying something new, I highly highly recommend a visit to her wonderful cafe!

One of the best surprises in Lunenburg. Fast, excellent takeaway. A small selection of dishes that changes depending on the day. Today had an option of tamarind beef or coconut curry shrimp, both delicious. My vegetarian partner was very happy with the daal, green bean curry and papadams as a meal (which served as sides on mine). In a town with limited vegetarian options, this place is godsend.

I visited Lamprai and Spice Café for the second time this month with my family, and it is definitely worth the trek from Halifax to savour Suni's authentic, flavorful offerings. As a lover of spicy, exotic foods, I can say that I was absolutely delighted by the meals she lovingly prepared for my family, and we experienced the full spectrum of her kitchen prowess. We feasted on the three available combos both times: tamarind beef, coconut shrimp and butter chicken. I like my food extra spicy, so she offered me a chili shrimp sambol condiment to accompany my already sublime butter chicken - amazing! The side dishes with their complex spices and ingredients danced on my tongue and made my mouth very happy! To go with our food, we ordered the Sri Lankan iced coffee, which was delicately sweet and creamy and very satisfying - I am in love ❤. She also showed me her industrial spice grinding machine, where she prepares her two delicious blends: roasted spices for meats and poultry and another curry mix for veggies. I purchased and used both at home, and they are perfect for those nights when you are craving flavour but do not have a lot of time to cook everything from scratch. Try this Lunenburg treasure - you will love it!

I feel so blessed to have this gal and her cafe in our town. Her Sri Lankan food is like nothing else you can get around here, and it is deliciously nourishing and prepared with such care. I would be embarrassed to tell you how many times a week we bring home her meals. I do like to cook, but I spend so much time making specifically kid oriented meals, that I appreciate having a few containers of soul-warming Sri Lankan come through my door so that I can sit down and eat a hearty, nutritious home cooked meal without spending another hour in the kitchen. That, and the fact that I have tried and failed to replicate her recipes at home. My hope is that one day she will offer cooking classes and/or publish a cookbook! A Bonus: she uses compostable paper takeout containers so I am not filled with the guilt of stuffing styrofoam into the trash can. I am already looking forward to my lunch later today, knowing it will be my favourite shrimp curry and lentil dahl!

For the past few years a day trip through lunenburg for me is not complete without a visit to Suni. I get excited everytime I drive down Lincoln st. Lamprai and Spice isnt just Take out. It's food made with love and served with kindness. SUNI makes you feel like family. The prices are a great value for the serving size and complexity of the dishes, the only downside is deciding which combo to have ( because I love them all). In a town filled with lobster dishes it's nice to have a spicy choice! And the cake! OMG. One slice is a meal!!!

Lamprai and Spice Cafe is one place you should check out when your in the town of Lunenburg , the best food you can get something different and very addictive i will go there everytime im in Lunenburg . Best of all it's Suni she owns and runs it , plus does all the cooking she's one of a kind a real special person , it's a great experience and you'll be treated like family .

I have been coming here since Suni first opened. She inspires, welcomes, and is so accommodating!! She cooks with passion, and that makes her food so special. Suni has the biggest heart and I am proud to say she is one of my great friends. Any negative comments, such as the ONE person on here, make me so angry!! How dare that person. This person obviously doesn’t know anything about Suni, and how much she cares and puts her customers before anyone else. So before anyone posts a negative comment about a small business, really think about how this affects the owner and their business.

The food my sister, Dad and I ate last week was exquisite- the balancing of spices, the presentation of the food so enticing to the eye, and the different scents to the nose, each bite enjoyable, and the sunny and gracious attitude of the owner, Suni, made for a delectable meal that we hope to repeat soon! We are so lucky to have Suni's home cooked Sri Lankan food in the South Shore. It is made with love, with wonderful flavors, generous portions (two meals for us last 1.5 meals for three people) and a Canadian touch. Everything is delicious but my favorites are the cashew curry, butter chicken and dhal. Her desserts are also fantastic, so make sure to save room.

Lamprai & Spice Cafe is one of the best food experiences in Lunenburg! I've been a customer of Suni's for years now, and her menu serves up a variety of excellent Sri Lankan food and offers a selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. It never fails to make my day when I get Lamprai & Spice take-out! And those rotis... to die for! and the cake... I could go on and on... Great value, generous servings, quality ingredients. I'm addicted!

Needed a quick lunch and stumbled upon this place from Google reviews. Great service, tasty food, and huge portion. As other reviews say it's not what you expect from a fishing town. You'll also be served what she has that day (I only had two choices today: chicken curry either spicy or basil). Take out only, so find a nice place to relax and enjoy the food!
